An ASD oriented analysis of the character of Enrico Pucci

Okay guys after letting this draft cook in my notes for months, here it is!!!

I have decided to embark on the journey of listing the reasons why I think Pucci is autistic coded and if he isn’t, he’s written with a pretty good idea of what an autistic person is! Since I'm pinning this, the analysis will be under the cut ↓

I can’t guarantee that my analysis won’t come with a whole lot of general delusion or projecting on my side, so don't hesitate to tell me if you feel some type of way about this. I understand that many of the traits or behaviors i’m gonna talk about are mostly explained by the events happening in canon, but they give him a general super autistic vibe. Disclaimer that I’ve also decided to ignore most acts of murder type violence for this analysis as I think those are more relevant in the context of the story than the character building.

Although not on purpose this analysis is organized almost like diagnosis criteria, so we're going to look into repetitive behavior and interests, communication, aversion to unpredictability and sensory processing etc...! Before we start, I'd like to say once more that I am autistic, my analysis is mine and reflects my opinion only, it's my headcanon and comes with a lot of projecting, so proceed with caution.

Anxiety and counting prime numbers, Repetitive behavior

Counting numbers is a well known technique to stop panic attacks. The reason is that when you panic, your brain’s logical part doesn’t activate. Counting numbers will help you get the logical part of your brain back ‘on’. Simply counting numbers in order or in a simple pattern is too natural, and may not work, so some people will count numbers backwards from 100, count numbers in a non-patterned, random way, or even count prime numbers.

In Pucci’s case he counts primes because they can’t be divided other than by 1 or themselves and are “lonely numbers”. The prime numbers remind him of his own loneliness against adversity, and give him courage. I don’t think a lot of neurotypical people feel personal closeness to something unemotional like a mathematical concept, but I might be wrong. I think what’s interesting to note is that prime numbers are a fixed series of numbers, never changing, offering a great deal of familiarity in repeating them (and also by doing so out loud, in the sound of repeating them). He has also memorized them up to the hundreds, (maybe even thousands iirc?), which shows he has an amazing memory skill, but also that he’s probably counted them a LOT. (Funny anecdote, Oliver Sacks mentions in one of his psychology books a pair of autistic twins that would figure out prime numbers together, and use it as means of communicating and bonding. They were able to produce huge prime numbers without a table!)

It is just something I wanted to point out, but I think it’s funny that a priest wouldn’t recite prayers as a calming mantra, but something very cartesian like mathematics. This furthers the idea that he has a lot of interest and finds a peculiar comfort and understanding of the world in science.

Oh and I think resetting the entire universe for everyone to gain precognition of events COULD be considered as a liking for repetitive things… ! /j

His interests and the random trivia at unexpected times

Pucci seems to be a man of many interests but primarily these are science (especially biology, animals, maths/geometry and physics), Dio’s plan/heaven, christianism, art (paintings). At least that’s what I got from the manga. There aren’t a lot of characters for which you can easily lay out the interests in that manner. The reason for that is that he talks about those all the time! And he always uses metaphors related to what he knows about to explain the world, his intentions, or situations.

• The corridor scene where he meets Jolyne, it’s not like it’s random or out of the blue, but it feels a bit peculiar to bring up this subject in this manner, and Jolyne seems dumbfounded at what he said to her.

• When handcuffed to Jolyne, he starts explaining about the swallows that are prone to accidents to make a parallel between the birds and her own situation.

• References both a politician’s use of subliminal sex and a painting (the “Domine Quo Vadis”) in a dramatic moment where he’s literally ending his brother’s life.

• Seems to be particularly interested in art as shown by the book he was reading when he met Dio (about Fra Filippo Lippi, a painter) and the conversations he has with Dio (once again using art as a metaphor to understand other concepts such as stands, and souls.).

• Of course bringing up the subject of the man eating a mushroom for the first time at the most unstable point of the battle against Jolyne, feels very out of the blue, (but not out of context.)

• When talking to Miraschon, he does a whole bunch of inappropriated stuff lol, doesn’t pay attention to what she says, and starts talking about his own interests/ideas.

This happens again when talking to Donatello Versace, where he's bouncing off questions, not acknowledging the answer right away and coming back to it a little bit later. His train of thought seems to come first, and his communication is not centered around making the other feel like they've been listened to.

Overall he often makes a great point, but sometimes it feels like the context is lacking, like he has had many thoughts before saying the things he says, but we don’t get to hear them, so the conversation topics are a bit unnatural. Plus he generally has a very self-important way to talk and explain things.

Other than that I think his exceptional focus on the same goal and obsessive idea of fate, from childhood and up into late adulthood can be the sign of a truly one track mind, which can be often found in ASD. Could also be noted that a lot of his behavior and actions is copied/referencing Dio, which could be because of Dio’s literal influence (being absorbed by green baby), or an overall tendency to use direct references in speech/behavior.

Self importance and the desire of previsibility

As I just mentioned a little while ago, the Miraschon scene is a scene where he’s info dumping her for at least three pages, on two different subjects, but also not paying attention at what she’s saying. This is not very nice behavior, but it’s very frequent in autistic people too. Being centered on one’s self, and unable to put yourself in another person’s shoes is very characteristic of ASD.

Pucci’s motivation and his ideal of heaven makes a lot of sense from an autistic viewpoint for a number of reasons. The first one being the discomfort caused by the unknown, or at least the fact that he thinks the world would be a better place without unknown events. The desire to know everything in advance and be able to have the time to be prepared for it will resonate with a lot of autistic people, because our brains have so much trouble adjusting to unknown outcomes and situations. I can’t explain it much better, it’s just wiring.

Second reason is Pucci’s overall sense of self importance throughout the part. There are many situations in which he will put himself first, expecting better treatment, straight up explaining that he’s different than other people.

The frog scene is interesting because he tries to weigh logically why his situation is objectively worse than the guard’s, without acknowledging the slightest the guard’s panic when assessing such a stressful situation.

(Pucci thinks the guard takes decision based on logic and not panic, gets frustrated that the guard isn't calm and rational.)

His inability to see things from outside his viewpoint is ultimately what will lead him to try to push his own ideal onto the whole world, always sure inside himself that he’s doing that out of altruism and for the greater good. Of course I think there is a slight disconnect from his inner emotions about what has led him to this point. But for me, this is the truest sign of being unable to understand that other people might see things any other way than he does, but he’s just sure that people don’t understand that it’s for their own good. In a way, his self-centeredness is mostly intellectual and not of intentions. This is something that is often present in people with ASD, because of a lack of (or misplaced/altered) cognitive empathy. People with ASD can have trouble mentalizing other people’s emotions or point of view. It doesn’t mean that they don’t care, don’t respect it, or can’t show support, but they just can’t really understand that another person has another mental space.

Cognitive empathy is described as such :

Identifying and labeling the emotions, connecting feeling to cause, and reading the thoughts and perspective of others. Ability to read nonverbal communication and social context. Ability to read the mental experiences of others.

Pucci will often justify his lack of mind theory by « you just can’t understand it. » : from his view point, being opposed by other people is not due to divergence of opinion (which would mean to accept that other people understand the situation but are in a different mindset), but due to lack of intellectual comprehension. This is why even though very intelligent, it can seem like he’s confused.

Young Pucci and the scenes with Dio

An important thing to note about young Pucci is his inability to break the rule that priests can’t talk about what has been said in confession. He’s not even a priest at that time and the confession was forced on him. These are perfectly good excuses to break the rule, or at least bend it a little, to confront the Weather and then Weather/Perla situation. Hesitation or inability to break the rules, irreasonable attachment to morals and taking irrational decisions because of those despite having great intelligence is a trait that can be found in a lot of autistic people. However, we see that he’s flexible enough to permit that Dio stays in the church basement until the sun sets. In my opinion, he’s quick to give his trust to such a suspicious person as Dio, even when Dio hints that he might be lying. This could be the sign of a little bit of naivety but it's still pretty much normal at a young age.

In the chapters with Dio, we can extract quite a lot of information on Pucci’s communication because it’s the almost only scenes where he’s not in scheming mode, in a pinch, or fighting. Pucci has a very different reaction to meeting Dio, even at a young age, compared to how Avdol or the hunchmen describe their reaction to Dio for example. He’s not shocked or in awe, but not hostile either, which is unusual. Even when he talks about Dio in narration, he has a detached way of calling him beautiful and mysterious, which shows it’s obviously how he feels even though he stays calm at all times in front of Dio, even in dangerous situations.

Dio makes numerous observations about Pucci’s behavior, expression and communication. He seems relaxed and expressive, very different from the rest of what we see of him.

Another important thing to note is the unusual way he communicates his love to Dio, using very profound words, with a lot of sincerity, without flinching. This genuine confession of a difficult emotion to confess even sets Dio aback.

Also, parallel play!! They’re shown having bonded profoundly, at the point of hanging out in bed together, but apart from chatting, they don’t really do things together like for example Hermes and Jolyne throw the ball with F.F., they’re doing stuff next to each other (Pucci watches Dio build his boat, and they read lying next to each other.).

Two words on sensory perception

About sensory perception, it’s actually one of the first things I noted when watching the anime especially, he’s very curious about the green baby, and talks to F.F. about it, but as he says himself, he can’t get the “feeling” from a memory disc, and he wants to know how the green baby feels in a sensory kind of way. (Is it soft? is it beautiful?). Of course the many scenes where he purposely mutilates himself without even flinching could indicate that he has a very low perception of physical pain. Both these traits would indicate a very peculiar kind of sensory relationship to the world.

In this scene with Donatello he does state that he has an acute sense of taste, in response to Donatello describing with great precision ingredients in a dish.

He also seems to feel the music strongly, even though the scene is meant to be comedic, he’s really into it and seems to have some sensory associations (visual/auditory) (also trivia dumping).

Although not directly a sign, the way he asks Dona to test his food because of allergy may also remind of many autistic people who have food allergies and aversions and get people to test food for them before eating.

Body language and facial expression

Pucci has a very specific kind of body posture, especially in the wrists, they’re always limp or twisted in some kind of way, similar to what autistic people might call “T-rex arms”. Araki is very talented at showing detail about characters in the strictly visual part of his drawings, so I think that’s important to note. In terms of facial expression, apart from with Dio, he seems pretty stoic and stern in most situations where he’s not under a lot of stress, almost never laughs or smiles, even in power high situations where other villains usually at least evil laugh for a couple seconds .

End note about Weather Report

I just wanted to add a quick word on Weather. Weather Report without his memory disc is also extremely autistic coded. Walking on tip toes, talking in a very low volume not respecting personal space, when he is introduced, he seems super autistic. The reason is the lack of memory disc and consequences of being hung, but I personally think this adds to the overall neurodivergent feel of the manga. I’m also not sure of how much of his backstory was planned at first, and if or not Araki had planned his behavior because of his backstory or not at the point of his introduction scene :3

And there we have it!! I tried not to be too lengthy so I hope you understand my point. I don't think I've seen him being analyzed/hc as autistic a lot, especially compared to characters like Jotaro, but I think he shares some similarities with Kakyoin who is very ND coded too! I would also like to point out that I don't think Araki purposely created a character that reads as autistic, but that he has a very realistic vision of personalities and identities that can lead to this kind of analysis. Also, fun note, Pucci is often typed as INFJ/INTJ and these are prominent personality types in autistic people :3. Anyways, hope you enjoyed, feel free to share your reactions, I'd be glad to hear your thoughts.

NB:

I felt like adding a few to this post so here it is. I would like to say that I think overall Pucci is the most multifaceted, complex character in the series, he has often been described as such, and that’s what makes him the exceptional last boss of the first Jojo era. Many people have had trouble understanding him and Made in Heaven, as can be seen by the numerous amounts of questions on the internet « what did Pucci want to do? » « what is Made in Heaven? » etc. Araki himself said it was very tiring writing such a nuanced villain. I think many of Pucci’s actions and behavior can be attributed to elements in the story narrative, his almost impossible circumstances, and I don’t want to oversimplify, or kick him into a box that might not have been intended at all by Araki. I would also like to add that ASD is a spectrum and one may or may not relate with every trait exposed here, or may find others that I haven’t listed. And it’s always a bit hard categorizing villains as ND because of their reprehensible actions. However I think he is nuanced enough to be considered good rep anyway. But maybe that’s just me fangirling a little too much. In any case, I hope you enjoyed.

IMO.

Overrated George Joestar II, if you are wondering why? All of my friends talk about him 24/7 lol. But if that's cheating, probably Avdol, Rohan, and Okuyasu.

Underrated is Narachia, Rikiel, and Foo Fighters IMO.

What about your opinion?

Overrated - Kakyoin, Joseph (lovingly, I love him sm), Jotaro

Can't enter the Mystery Labyrinth until after work, but I've done a lot of thinking and I've reached a decision.

On a scale of "Makoto did nothing wrong" to "I'm gonna fuck up Makoto", my personal stance falls far on the "fuck up Makoto" end of the spectrum.

I still don't know what his endgame is. Why he went to such elaborate lengths to bring the Book of Death here and get himself pulled into the Mystery Labyrinth.

But reflecting on it, I don't think I care.

As weird as these words feel coming out of my mouth, I. Kind of. Agree. With Yakou?

Not in the way he expressed it: Men exist solely for women, so you need to put Kurumi above all other considerations!

But more specifically, he isn't wrong in a more general sense, when he expresses that the relationships we have with each other are what drive us forward. That we need to stop and thinking about what's best for the people that we care about when making our choices.

The Trolley Problem of feeding WDO-apprehended criminals to Kanai Ward is... complicated. I genuinely don't know where to stand on that, though I'd have a higher opinion of it if Makoto hadn't ended homunculus research and was instead trying to find a permanent solution instead of this stopgap.

But to make this happen, Makoto also killed a lot of people who unambiguously didn't deserve it. Some of whom I liked. He took two besties from me as well as several other characters I was fond of, and a couple I was less so. I can't overlook that. I want blood.

I said before that it made me feel proud to help Yakou carry out Huesca's assassination and avenge his wife. If that's what he needed for closure then I was happy to help him do it.

Now I feel like I'm in his shoes. Makoto killed Halara, Vivia, and Fubuki - and yes, even Desuhiko. His plan is responsible for the deaths of Aphex, Real Zilch, Melami, Zange, and Pucci. He paved this road in blood.

I don't believe in punitive justice. I don't think the function of a well-reasoning legal system should be to hurt people. The focus of the state should always be on rehabilitation.

But at an individual level, I also don't believe that cold, dispassionate logic is superior to raw emotion. The ability to feel is what makes us alive. I stood by Yakou because he was a man undergoing intense grief, produced by Huesca in an attempt to conceal Huesca's own financial misdeeds.

Like the Theater Girls, justice was denied to Yakou, leaving revenge as his only possible avenue for closure. I could never hold that against him. The emotional wellbeing of a victim far outweighs the physical wellbeing of an abuser. I will never blame a victim for doing what they need to do to feel whole again, even if it comes at a cost to their life.

Now I feel like I'm standing there in those same shoes. It is not justice to retaliate against Makoto. It was not justice to assassinate Huesca. But like Yakou and the Theater Girls, I am not of sound mind and cool head. This isn't about justice. There is no avenue to justice. I want revenge.

Finally got around to make a tier list for the Master Detective Archives: Rain Code characters. Please note that these are just my opinion, and you are free to agree or disagree with me. Just please do not try to persuade my opinions to be in your favor (I hate that).

SPOILERS FOR THE GAME AHEAD!

S-Tier

You’ve seen my posts, I love the entire Nocturnal Detective Family Agency characters and group. I’ve been writing fics about them, and I just want to see more of their group dynamic whether in fics or the DLC or any adaptations (anime or manga) that the team will hopefully do in the future.

And just to clarify, no I do not condone Desuhiko’s perverted nature nor do I even relate. He is high on the list because of my bias with the group and because I love other positive traits he has (his bromance with Yuma and his loyalty nature). If anything, if I write Desuhiko, that perverted nature wouldn’t be focused at all, or the others would be trying to overcome his bad habit

Makoto is my favorite antagonist in the game. Honestly, he is more an anti-villain to me (someone who has good/noble intentions, but commits terrible actions in order to accomplish it), and kind of a protagonist of his own story. Someone I wish for better, and to become better. And I love Yuma’s and Makoto’s relationship in both game and the fics.

A-Tier

Shinigami in the Labyrinth is more memorable to me than when she is in the real world, especially in chapters 3, 4, and 5 when we saw more depth and character growth of her

Kurumi is a great supporting character, and I genuinely like her and Yuma’s relationship. I just wish we got to see more of her, or get a Gumshoe Gab like with the detectives (though it made sense why since Gumshoe Gab are technically flashbacks that happened between chapters)

Pucci is someone I relate and love and even wish she had survived. I love her motif for cute things (the teddy bear, her headphones) and her Forte feels so relatable to me

Yoshiko is like my favorite of the three girls, in terms of designs and personality

B-Tier

Kurane is just relatable is all

Shinigami in the real world is slightly less memorable to me except for her design and some of her commentaries and dynamic with Yuma

Rant time, but I believe some of the Peacekeepers deserved better writing and more screentime. It felt like they were only meant to meet requirements and be obstacles for Yuma and the detectives in both the real world and the Mystery Labyrinth. We don’t see them have more personal relationships with some of the detectives, or see them beyond the chapters they were in or even make a presence like Yomi and Martina even. Seth is the only one I’m fine with his writing because he at least gets some form of ending to his story in the game (I think), but it’s something. Swanks and Guillaume (and Dominic actually), I wish we had gotten more from them beyond their chapters, like what are their special roles in the Peacekeepers? Are they like commanders that follows directly Yomi’s orders? Do they have special jobs they have to do? I just wish we’ve gotten more of that.

Yomi is a great unlikeable villain we have gotten, he is like so twisted and evil and irredeemable and quite a threat towards the detectives. However, I feel like he was also overrated, mainly because I feel like he took up too much of the screentime and be the only main threat towards the detectives. The rest of the Peacekeepers (except Seth and Martina) feel like they were overshadowed completely, or barely threats since they never show up or have a presence like Yomi.

C-Tier

These range of characters are those that I like and served their roles well as support/minor characters in the story and don’t hold no ill will towards (except Fake!Zilch and Dr. Huesca, but that was the writers’ intents)

D-Tier

These characters are those I just don’t care, even the order it went doesn’t matter, I just have no emotions towards them whatsoever. Please don’t take what characters I chose the wrong way, it’s just how I personally feel

Hello! I love your art and the way you draw Jotaro 👌 I was actually wondering if you could offer some tips on developing a JJBA OC? I'm working on creating one but am getting a bit hung up on writing her in a way that makes sense within the context of the Jojo universe, not to mention I'm trying to work out the mechanics of her stand. There are gonna be some spoilers from part 3 to 6, but since Stone Ocean just came out and I'm pretty sure that people here already saw/read from part 3 to 5, I'll put a very visible warning just for Stone Ocean spoiler that may come. Welp, it's not that I've actually adapted her in the canon universe, because since I want it to be a happy world, a happy place for myself to have fun in I've changed some things in order to not make some characters die because I love them too much and it breaks my heart everytime realizing some characters are dead ;v; That's the thing I've changed and ofc I added my OCs so more things changed, but not in a way to change the original story line (I hope I've explained myself well HAHAHA)

OC strenght and fights

Aaaaaand a thing I would do (/do in my universe), is not making an OC too OP, because yes they are a protagonist for you, but the story told in the anime/manga is the canon protagonist's one so I kind of like wouldn't want to steal their spot light. (In fact when in DIU Josuke wasn't the one to kill Kira but was a FRICKING AMBULANCE TO DO THAT- and even Jotaro that gave him a final blow- I was like "nuuuu but Josuke- noooo", I mean he had his very cool figh with Kira but I still wanted to see him defeat the hand fetish man once and for all. But it was still a very cool ending don't get me wrong :3)

STONE OCEAN SPOILER: START

And since I want the protagonist to kill the main enemy AAND a happy ending for Stone Ocean, I made it happen in a way that was Jolyne that gave Pucci a final punch in order to kill him FUCK YOU BITCH

Your OC can of course help, but I wouldn't make them do important kills like killing DIO for example, or important kills for a character in general.

For example: your OC could defeat Blue Moon but I would avoid them defeating The Hanged Man since all what happened with Sherry, while Blue Moon just took Jotaro as his enemy and didn't serve for a character development. Yes, Jotaro unlocked Star Finger, but he still could do that and then your OC can give Blue Moon the final blow. What I want to say with that is that your OC can defeat a non important secondary villain, but always with the help of who was originally supposed to defeat them. So to not take their spot light. But then if an event that you decided to make happen don't let you do that then it's okay! I'd still make it in a way to make them fight together, it's just my personal opinion and I think a way to make your OC fit better in the JJBA universe :3

But then of course you want your OC to have THEIR fight alone (or with another character, but always that you OC is now the protagonist of this fight) so in this case I'd create an enemy stand just for them to defeat ;)

Having always in mind the "not making your OC too OP", in making the stand you can go WILD. You could use some facts about anything that you know and like to create it! I used the ones I know to create my OC Alexandra's stand Kubary Fighter! But you can also creating it depending on the role you want to give your OC in the group, thing I've did with my other OC Yanyu's stand Precious Memories :3

I don't have much to say on about creating a stand, because you can literally do anything HAHAHAHAHA But ye knowing little facts by being curious in life can be handy when doing those things :3 You can also search for them and getting informed about things of course

Also have in mind that a stand is the extension of one's soul, so you can start from thinking how your OC's mental state is to give their stand the right amount of power and durability, because then I think that the other stats depends on the ability you wanna give the stand :3

OC design

For the designs, you can go CCCCCCCRAAAAZY with them as you can see from Araki's characters, *and they're very recognizable because he has his own way to make unique designs (we'll get to this later).

Each character has a very recognizable design, that isn't especially bizzare, but that has that one feature that makes their silouette recognizable (even without posing). Let's take our favourite french man Polnareff as an example: his clothes aren't as bizzare as Giorno's for example, they're pretty simple (not basic, just simple for one of Araki's design). And so what makes his silouette recognizable? H I S H A I R!

Look at this

You can 100% tell who is Polnareff from these two silouettes, and I'm sure you can even guess who is the other silouette even tho it is far more simple from Polnareff's. The thing is that it is still recognizable! So if you said Okuyasu then WOHOOOO he has a recognizable silouette!

You don't have to forcefully follow this rule, but it is a great help for character design because it makes people recognize and remember your OC a lot better!

Now, taking this *point, let's talk about how Araki's design are recognizable. It depends from character to character, but most of them don't necessarily have lots of accessories, but they sure have LOTS of details, and overall bizzare clothing. Take Jolyne's number one simp Anasui for example: his shirt (if we can call it that) doesn't make fucking sense HAHAHAHA His design is very cool tho, but what I want to say is that you don't see anywhere Anasui's shirt, it's unique and bizzare. I wouldn't count the foot prints on his shirt as accessories, because they're technically pockets, but they still serve as details for Anasui's design.

It's the details and shape of the clothes that you have to keep in mind, not the accessories. Of course you can add them to your OC's design, but I think you shouldn't give them as much priority as the shape of the clothes. I say that it would be better to do it that way, because this is the way the manority of JJBA character's design are. But then we have other characters that have lots of accessories, but the shape of their clothes is very simple.

Now we'll take our fave ocean man Jotaro as an example: his clothes are very simple, but the accessories he has give them its own personality and character. Because even the accessories are bizzare! I mean- look at his big ass golden chain, where else do you find a chain THAT big? No wonder his neck is so damn big, the boy has to walk straight in order to not fuck up his posture (even tho it is a little fucked up in the healthy way, but I love it so much because DAT PELVIS- MMMM), and the same goes for all of his pins in the other parts designs.

Now, I want you to take a look at these clothes

Love them, beautiful, gorgeous, so edgy with lots if accessories, bbbbbut they personally don't give that JJBA vibe. Why? Because the clothes have a normal shape and the accessories (even tho they're a lot and basically what makes the outfit pop) are not bizzare.

And now, I want you to look at THESE clothes

The shape of them are very unusual, a thing that you would only see at fashion shows, but that you would see in the streets in the JJBA universe.

Now, look at THESE accessories

THAT WOMAN IS WEARING A FREAKING STREET CONE ON HER HEAD!! Isn't that... b i z z a r r e?

I hope I made the difference clear, because I don't hate on the ones that make their JJBA OC wear that edgy outfit with lots of chains, I just personally don't think they give that JJBA vibe.

And with colors too, go crazy with them BUT!! Keep in mind color theory

My personal favourite are the complementary and split complementary theory, but you of course can use the one you like the most!

Also this could help too with the skin color 👀

I followed it for my OC Yanyu, but I didn't for my OC Alexandra, because as some of you know her main colors are turquoise and orange, but her skin tone is more of a pinkish one and as you can see on the turquoise and orange skin colors, they are more of a yellowish one. As I said, you don't have to forcefully follow these things! They are tips not rules, so you can do what you think for you is the best, because afterall the OC is yours :3

All of this design talk obv goes for the stand too :3 That can be literally anything, like- even a talking shopping cart made out of noodles with donuts that replace the wheels *w h e e z e*

Also I'd have in mind the part you want your OC to be in, because part 3 designs are more simple than for example part 5 designs, so that you can avoid making your OC feel like out of place (This goes for the stand users and not for the stands).

I don't think my opinions about Jolyne are too unpopular other than Joly/sui sucks and that she isn't Emporio's new mother.

I will sulk about the fact that Jolyne was not the one to beat Pucci but then again, Emporio did avenge his mother and his friends by being the one to defeat him. But then again it was Jolyne's part. If that makes sense.

Hi anon!

Interesting ask you got there! I haven't stopped writing for enneagram and MBTI. It's just not a popular topic around here lol.

*Important note: I am in no way saying that people who have these enneagrams are yanderes or will be yanderes. This is purely for educational and hypothetical discussion of what enneagrams are observed in yanderes within media (i.e., anime). In real life yanderes are dangerous, so please stay away from them. This blog is purely for entertaining a horror trope*

But personally, I would say enneagrams 1, 2, 4, and possibly 6 would usually fit the yandere trope.

1 - perfectionist

Examples: Giorno, Pucci, Bucciarati

pretty self-explanatory if I'm being honest. Enneagram 1s are ruled through fear of being immoral, so they spend a lot of their time trying to live a moral life. However, morals are subjective. What's considered "good" isn't consistent across all people and cultures. I can see these types deluding themselves into being "good" people for darling.

Example: Yan!Giorno kidnapping darling is the "right" thing to do because he can keep them safe from harm

2 - caregiver

Examples: Jonathan, Yuno Gasai

Highest potential for fulfilling the yandere trope

2s have a fear of being unloved. Therefore, their motivation in life is to act in such a way that they can be loved and accepted. Usually, this is in a form of giving love so they can receive love. It can be excessive where it becomes unhealthy for the individual such as overcompensating, overprotective, overbearing, etc. See where this is going?

4 - individualistic

Examples: Yukako, Johnny

4s have a fear of having no identity. Therefore, they spend a lot of time trying to find their own unique identity. Key word is unique. 4s want to be individualistic. To create a sense of self that is unique and self-expressed by them. In a healthy manner, it's great because it means they have a greater sense of self and high self-awareness

however, on the unhealthy side, it can be seen as inherently selfish

this plays a role in the yandere trope because when you think about yanderes, they are pretty selfish when you think about it. They don't take into account their partner's opinions and thoughts in the relationship. I can see 4s almost taking their darling as part of their identity. Kinda the whole "I can't live without you" or "you're my other half" to a whole new level

6 - security and stability

Examples: Diavolo, Narancia

I'm iffy on 6s being yanderes but I put them on the list because I still think they have potential. Tbf, all enneagrams have the potential to be a yandere in their own way, so don't think yanderes can only be these enneagrams!

6s are ruled by their fear of insecurity. They want security, to know that something or someone will work out and be there for the long-run

For the yandere trope, this can definitely be in the form of seeking a partner and wanting them to stay forever. If darling tries to leave this can cause anxiety, that lack of security is no longer there and the enneagram 6 will work towards obtaining that security back

Jolyne: this is so not canon compliant but I love the idea that she visited Giorno and friends at some point when she was younger and Polnareff and Mista are the ones that taught her how to flip the bird French and Napoli style GUFHJGFHGDF

General opinion over said character:

Jotaro: okay so. I got into jojo’s when I was about 15-ish and back then I actually really hated him lmao (I thought he was really boring in part 3 and I was annoyed that EOH focuses waaaay too much on him to the detriment of the other jojos). He’s still my least favorite jojo (if judged on debut part only) but he has grown A LOT on me since then, and I ADORE him post part 3.

Jolyne: she’s not my favorite jojo but god I love her. It’s hard for me to put into words but like, when I first read stone ocean years ago, she clicked with me immediately and I think she’s a really enjoyable and honestly very, idk, down to earth character? Like if you asked me which jojo I would want to hang out with it’d probably be her (or Josuke). If part 10 ever becomes a thing, I do hope we get another female jojo, but if we don’t then I’m happy that the female jojo we have is as great as she is.

also anyone that calls her a failure of a protag because she didn’t beat pucci can f*cking shove it.

i loved him going insane from guilt and grief and devoting his entire life to the pursuit of a world where the kind of trauma and horror he and his loved ones went through can never happen again and in the process of that quest becoming a cruel and horrible person who lives ultimately a miserable and small existance. all because he got groomed by an evil vampire to think that murder was the way to get to heaven actually and so he became deeply entranced by that delusion and the comfort it brought to the point where he couldnt even consider that maybe he was doing something horribly selfish and destructive to himself and others. smileeee. also second favourite moment is ”frogs on my 800 dollar pants?” and third favourite is smiling excitedly as his arm gets torn off and he presumably gets cannibalized by a baby (made me realize that he is actually nuts)

idea for a story:

what did he get up to in between dios death and the start of stocean? like collecting stands and watching over weather while driving himself further and further into darkness. its so sad and fucked up to think about to me. also second story idea would be him and kakyoin meeting as insane evil teens in the vampire mansion and having a weird ”friendship” lol

unpopular opinion:

this isnt unpopular in MY circles. but um. hes the main villain of his part and arguably the most complex villain character in jojo, even if one could argue villains like kira are better executed. so its a bit cringe and annoying to me when people reduce him to just an acessory to dio LOL. like he is his own character and a far more interesting one than dio with motivations and character drives completely separate from him so ummmmmmmm whyyyys that blond thing always there. hm? you have to wonder why and you especially have to ask why do people keep postioning him as dios servant or ”follower” instead of his actual role as a student and friend. hm.

favourite relationship:

i do however like dios and puccis fucked up evil bestfriendship because. its fucked up but also funny. HOWEVER. PUCCI SIBLINGS FOREVER. like theres no comparison to whatever him and weather have going on omg. perla also. but like that relationship just perfectly sums up his character doesnt it. like he accidentally causes the destruction of wes’ whole life so he steals his memories to survive and to stop wes from killing everyone and its cruel (even if more understandable bc. traumatized children) and fucked up. but then he keeps wes alive and watches over him for decades and keeps him close and safe because he genuinely does wish that things could be different. he cares. all with out ever considering how cruel even THAT is. but once wes gets his memories back and becomes an unignorable threath he doesnt hesistate to kill him. so so so fucked up what the hell

I read part 6 some years ago but watching the anime it made me realise that Jolyne is probably the most tragic Jojo (even more than jonathan) . She never really caught a break and didn't even spend much time with her friends outside of prison .She saw all her friends and dad dying in front of her before she sacrificed herself for emporio to live .Also her death was most likely a very brutal one ,considering mih pass through her ( and I always assumed that's why Araki didn't show it on page) . At the very least she got a happy life as Irene with her friends and family.

I can't compare Jolyne's life to every Jojo since I haven't read part 7 or 8 so I'll just be comparing her life to part 1 - 5 Jojos.

Jonathan is definitely up there when it comes to tragic Jojo. He lost his parents and Danny. Also Dio turned almost everyone against him. However, he had friends like Master Zeppeli, the one and only Speedwagon, and Erina (a genuine love interest instead of someone like Romeo or Anasui (He's a whole other conversation). While he still died, he was able to injure Dio enough that he was in a coffin at the bottom of the ocean for 100 years.

Joseph - Giorno also had tragic parts of their stories, but they were all able to directly defeat their part's villain and live somewhat happy lives. When you realize all of this, I can definitely see (and completely agree ) that Jolyne is the most tragic Jojo.

She lived the majority of her life thinking her father didn't care about her. When he does prove that he cares and that he was protecting her, he dies with her name being the last thing he says. She quickly loses the friends she's made and even blames herself for what happened to Weather Report. By the end, all she has left is Emporio (Technically, she has her mother too but Jolyne wasn't able to see her and never would be able to say goodbye so that's an extra layer of sadness. You're welcome) knows she can't go with him because Pucci can track her down so she sacrifices herself knowing that she can't kill him. (I kinda wish Araki would have gave her some new hidden ability like he did with Giorno and Jotaro, but I guess he just wanted an excuse to conclude the Dio arc.)

Despite all of that, I am glad that Jolyne was able to find peace as Irene. She was able to retain all of the life lessons she learned as Jolyne without all of the trauma so that's a W in my opinion. I guess you could say while Jolyne was the most tragic, she was also the luckiest in her own way. She managed to escape the Joestar curse in a way that not even Holly did,

I made a Tier list of the Agents of DIO, but this isn’t based on my opinions of course, they’re my OC Medea’s opinions as you can see from her head down there. Basically her thoughts on the people she has to work with under DIO’s control during her stay in Cairo.

Good terms: This list contains characters that she can actually get along with no problem, either they're polite to her, she respects them as allies, or they're not as unforgiving as those in the Dislike list. One of the good examples being Boingo as she acts a bit of an older sister figure to him whenever Oingo isn't around. But the most notable example is with Kakyoin and Polnareff as she would later become best friends with the two, even grieving over Kakyoin's death at the hands of their Master DIO.

So-so: This list contains characters that she either doesn’t care about or has a lot of mixed feelings for, getting into on-off relationships with some of these people. The most notable example being Hol Horse and T. D'Arby, one minute she’s alright with them, the next minute she wants to kick their asses Hank Hill-style. Another example being Mansaku Nijimura, on one hand she's angry with him for being a terrible father to his sons, on the other hand she sees him as just another victim of financial problems and DIO's thrall.

Dislike: This list contains characters that she ABSOLUTELY couldn't stand being around due to their unforgivable crimes and their overall toxic or creepy behavior towards innocent bystanders and herself, some of them(mostly Vanilla Ice) even made several attempts at her life over bullshit(she's not the innocent one either but even she has her limits). Pucci being a special case as they were on good terms during "Stardust Crusaders" before the events of "Stone Ocean".

Never met: This list is very self-explanatory as it contains characters from "Phantom Blood", a century before she was ever born and are already killed by various Hamon users.

Caroline doesn't know how long she has been on her feet, her hands never once leaving her husband's chest. Not even the long hours of the hospital that have trained her can keep her up for much more, but the sheer fucking will that has been instilled in her screams that if she moves away for even a moment, she will lose Jotaro for good.

Golden Saint, always the realist, keeps reminding her that Caroline is only exhausting her own life force for nothing, that all they can do now is wait, but Caroline can't wait. Apparently, she's been sitting and waiting for disaster to strike for almost twenty years now, which, in her own humble opinion, is just insulting.

Twenty years. That's how long their friends knew that Dio was alive, and nobody had said anything to her. As if she was a precious fucking porcelain doll that would break at the mere touch. Twenty years of silence had now destroyed the family she had worked so hard to create and maintain, the family she sacrificed her own dreams for. Her firstborn daughter, the girl that had endured too much for such a young age, now in prison for a crime she did not commit. The man she saved time and again, the one who always put his life on the line to protect her, now dead in her arms. Their youngest boy, only ten years old, but already exposed to old horrors that follow their family like a shadow, hidden away in Avdol's care, all alone on the other side of world.

Oh, how she wishes that she was still 29 years old, sitting with Jotaro on the front porch of his old home, watching Jolyne play with little Sherry as the sun was setting behind the children's backs. Where they were still happy, still in love—

"You're losing focus, Caroline." Saint's voice never failed to bring her back to reality. The Stand with the plague doctor mask was standing on the opposite side of Jotaro's bed, plague doctor mask in hand. Caroline hated at that particular moment that her and Saint had the same face.

Her throat was still raw from screaming and crying over her losses. "What do you want me to do? Pace around the room like a caged animal, driving myself insane as I watch my husband's body rots with each passing minute?" The mere thought forced her to press her palms down even harder, continuing the healing process.

"What you're doing is feeling sorry for yourself over the current situation. Your mourning the future, a future which won't even happen. You're focusing only on here and now, which, by the way, is slowly killing us both."

"You don't—"

"Shut up and listen already. You and I both know that Rejuvenation will not work, he needs both of the disks back. So focus on that. You, standing here, wasting your life? That's exactly what Pucci and Dio want. Do you want to give them the fucking satisfaction? Do you want Jotaro to wake up to your smiling face, or do you want him and the kids to find out you drained yourself to the point of death?"

She was right. She was right.

"You're Caroline Becker. When life decides to kick you down, you don't cry and feel sorry for yourself the entire time. You get angry, and you take matters into your own hands. So get angry already, and do something about it. You left a fucking dent in that psycho vampire's chest, you can rip his head off, and we both have the means to do it."

The Arrow. Truth be told, Caroline always hoped she would not have to touch the thing again, not after what happened at Morioh, to Kira.

But Saint was right. It was time Dio and Pucci were dealt with once and for all.

Saint didn't fail to notice Caroline's hands moving away from Jotaro's chest. Nor how her back straightened, how the look in her eyes changed. The Stand merely smiled as she put the mask back on her face.

"Finally."

Alas, if only it were that easy. Obviously the plot is not going to let us get away with that.

Alright, let's share our suspicions as to who the imposter is.

Setting aside my joke about Zange, this is a conundrum. I mean, it's obviously Aphex, but that's precisely why it's obviously not Aphex. He's a total fucking prick all the time to everyone. Reeks of Bad Guy Energy with every word out of his mouth.

The culprit is never the asshole. The asshole might die or he might inexplicably become your pal, or maybe he'll just stay an asshole all the way through. But he's never the culprit, because that's way too easy--

Although if he's going to call attention to it like that, then maybe it is him. A line like this coming straight out of the asshole's mouth feels like it might be there to revoke his "It's never the asshole" protections. Hmm.

Mm, maybe. We'd have to assume the assailant had their own uniform and forged letter ready to go. A badge too, given that everyone but Kokohead seems to have one. Weird that they'd take his badge and not his letter since they obviously can't use the badge but they can use his letter. Unless, of course, Yuma's the imposter.

This isn't really an imposter situation so much as an impersonation of officer one. Whoever took Yuma's place is not literally impersonating Yuma, but is instead falsely misrepresenting themselves as a Master Detective.

But Aphex is drawing conclusions from facts not in evidence. We have no proof that Yuma's assault is connected to the impersonation in the first place. He could have just been mugged or accidentally tripped and knocked himself out or something.

Nobody here was directly told that there would only be five people; Melami and Pucci both just happened to overhear that snippet. So unless the assailant is one of them (or also happened to overhear it) there's no reason the misrepresenter would go out of their way shore up the numbers like this. If Zilch, Zange, or Aphex were the imposter, there's a strong chance that they wouldn't bother attacking Yuma. (Though if they also overheard the number, they would.)

It's a possibility but not a certainty and we should keep that in mind as we move forward with investigation.

A plausible scenario but, ultimately, baseless conjecture. Whether this is a true mystery or a test disguised as a mystery changes little about the situation or facts present in evidence. Sorry, Pucci, but this is speculation, not deduction. We'd still need to solve the case either way.

Wait, have we not done that? Has nobody actually been to the other cars on this train? Are we standing around speculating about the sixth guest without checking to see if there's a seventh, eighth, ninth, etc.?

Aphex is right, this is way too early to be drawing conclusions. We should shut the fuck up and go look at the--

Or he can just use his Therapy Scanner to detect the presence of sympathy onboard. That works too.

Unfortunately, though Aphex detected not a single shit given towards him, that's far from conclusive evidence of no other people on account of how bad he sucks. So we'll need to get a second opinion.
