summary: you finally came back from a long, long, mission (you were gone for a week)
warning: none! fluffy content <3
notes: i want natsu so bad rn. this is so self indulgent. lowercase intended. it’s been forever since i last wrote, i feel like i’m rusty.
Tumblr media
everyone was getting a little fed up with natsu, as he had been causing a lot more fights with everyone lately, though they aren’t too surprised seeing as how you were gone on a mission without him. happy was watching his pink haired friend sulk, an aura of sadness and gloom surrounding him. happy decided to fly over to natsu.
“hey natsu! wanna go fishing?”
“nah man… i’m good.” natsu replied sourly. happy internally groaned. suddenly natsu’s head perked up with his nose sniffing something out. within seconds, the guildhall doors opened up, revealing natsu’s ever so missed girlfriend, you! you walked in looking around before you spot natsu with a grin on his face. he immediately started running towards you, almost stumbling over his own feet.
“you’re back!” he exclaimed, wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling your body deep into his. you returned the gesture by wrapping your arms around his neck. “yes, i am! i couldn’t stay away from my flame head for too long.” you said between giggles. natsu buried his face into your neck, taking in your scent that he missed so much.
“welcome back y/n. i expect a report on the mission, but i see you may have more important things to deal with.” makarov said while gesturing to the dragon slayer clinging to you. you laughed lightly while nodding. you decided you wanted to go home since you were sweaty and tired from your solo mission. the second you said the word “home” natsu started dragging the both of you there.
when you two reach home you two immediately are pulled into bed, natsu clinging to you as if it was your last day. he was sitting on the bed as you sat on his lap. he pulled his face away from your chest, only for his lips to meet yours. his lips warm against yours, making your whole body warm up. he pulls away, “never go on a mission without me again.” you brought your hands to the side of his face, holding his close to yours.
“never.” you responded.

Natsu and Gray vs A Horde of Bulky Orcs
by Veni91
Natsu and Gray went on a nearby town to solve a case involving a group of orcs causing some mayhem.
But close to their goal, their mission suddenly took a rather...unpredictable turn.

I actually really miss Fairy Tail... :( Can you imagine how warm Natsu's hugs are? How valuable Erza's friendship is? How warm and inviting Lucy would be? How loyal Gray is? Damn please let me be their friends I- 😭
Tumblr media
Thought this gif was amusing and lighthearted and perfect for bed time lol.
I know some people really hated it but I grew up with it and it has a special place in my heart. Used to be a big fan of Gray but honestly Natsu has become a favorite of mine after giving it another go. His happiness is just so contagious.

NALU set in the Immortals After Dark universe by Kresley Cole. I highly recommend the book series. Check out the wiki for more information. Not required to understand the story, but recommended as the universe is fantastic. Hope you enjoy!
Bite me...
-Lucy Heartfilia (AKA Lucy the Celestial Valkyrie)
You wouldn’t be my bride if you didn’t like a little adventure.
-Natsu Dragneel (AKA Natsu the Salamander)
If you had asked past Lucy where she saw herself in the future, it would not be here. Present Lucy stood in a small pond of murky water covered in engorged leeches that attached themselves to her skin. Natsu stood beside her, in much the same state, arguing with the owner of the said pond—the water up to their thighs. Shock flooded through her as she took in their surroundings. They had fallen through a dark tunnel from above and landed in what looked like an underground market. The stands appeared to stretch on forever. The ceiling of earth and vegetation vaulted above them. Their fall had drenched nearby stands in water and leeches. Customers scattered to pick up the little creatures from the ground as if they were pieces of currency. Some patrons even fought over their wiggling leech bodies. Gross.
“You’ve destroyed my stand, my supply tunnel, you are currently standing in my merchandise, and you want me to not call the authorities!” The man stood sodden by the splash of water from his pond. His stand fell to rubble around his feet, and a large crowd had formed from all the commotion. The man’s face was a concerning beet purple, his hands firmly on his hips, and Natsu had the nerve to smile and incite him further.
“I’ll have you know, buddy, that what you’re selling is illegal,” Natsu said. These revolting leeches were illegal? On closer inspection, along with their large rolling eyes and pulsing bodies, they shimmered an otherworldly opalescent shade. Not normal leeches. “Plus, you left that hole up there. If you ask me, that was an accident waiting to happen. Weshould call authorities on you.” The two of them had gone around in circles about the stand. A new batch of leeches slid down the tunnel from above and landed in the shallow pool of water at their feet with a sobering splash. Lucy lost her patience and stepped out of the pond. One thing at a time. She’d worry about the leeches after she dealt with the owner.
“Hey, how much do you need for damages?” she asked. Natsu and the stand owner ignored her and continued to bicker. Lucy didn’t have time to listen to their male squabbles. She unlatched her whip from her hip and slid the familiar leather between her fingers. When was the last time she had a chance to use it? When she unfurled the weapon, power buzzed around her, her muscles relaxed, and her focus sharpened. Natsu’s sentence ceased abruptly, his argument long forgotten.
“Don’t ignore me!” the owner said. His short finger pointed to Natsu in a warning.
“Listen here.” Lucy allowed the length of the whip to fall beside her feet with an audible thud. “I’m willing to pay for the damages to your stand. I will not pay for your shitty hole that nearly broke my neck.” She gripped the whip and power flowed through the mystical conduit. Sparks slid down the leather and crackled in the air. Natsu ignored the man, stepped out of the pool of water, and began burning the leeches from his skin.
“What are you doing? You’re destroying my goods!” The owner hesitated; his eyes slid to Lucy, but his glare sharpened on Natsu. “Tell your bitch to leave this to us.” Lucy snapped her whip up and brought it down against the man’s arm with a thundering crack. The man’s face struck the dirt floor in a blink. When he groaned, soil puffed out of his mouth.
“Well, I was going to pay, but now I’m just angry.”
“Fuck you.” The man spat at her feet. Natsu crouched in front of his face with a fist lit in flames.
“Try spitting at her again,” Natsu said. The shop owner’s eyes widened, and he opened his mouth to speak. A rasping dry sound came from his lips, which cracked and peeled in the heat. The man’s face reddened with the increased intensity of the flame. “Are you going to call her a bitch again?” The man shook his head while the brows on his face disintegrated. Natsu lifted the corner of his mouth.
“Natsu, that’s enough. You can—”
“They’re coming!” A voice cut through the crowd. Natsu extinguished his flame and stood. Lucy rolled her whip in a practiced movement and attached it to her waist. The pond owner groaned and twisted on the floor. Patrons scattered like insects at the warning. Whoever made their way toward them scared the people here.
“Time to run?” Lucy asked.
“Yup.” Natsu took her hand and tugged her through the crowd. From his palm, he emitted a heat that traveled across her skin. The leeches dropped from her body and left small red marks everywhere. If he could hear her through all the commotion, Lucy would have thanked him. A few bodies brushed against her bruised skin. She turned her head and tightened her grasp on Natsu’s hand. Three darkly cloaked figures appeared to float down the path they had come, their faces shrouded by dark hoods, and their garments fell to the ground to cover their limbs if they had any. Lucy picked up speed beside Natsu.
“Behind us.” The words came out in short bursts, all she could manage as they ran. While her eyes desperately searched for something familiar in the underground cavern, Natsu’s eyes remained transfixed ahead. He tugged at her arm and rounded the corner toward a large burgundy tent. The whole thing laced with lights and an open sign sat out front. A small elderly woman sat in a chair just outside, her frail hands held an absurdly long pipe, and a grin spread over her face as they neared.
“Madam, if you please.” Natsu bowed to the woman who blew a massive cloud of smoke in their direction. The smoke tendrils stuck to their skin like thick humidity and forced Lucy to cough. Natsu pulled her close, so their bodies pressed together.
“Not the time!” Lucy protested, but Natsu’s lips were against her ear.
“Shh. Don’t move.” The ghostly cloaked figures hovered closer and halted in front of the woman’s tent. One of them came mere inches away from them. The elderly woman exhaled a long puff of smoke in its direction, who appeared unbothered by their presence.
“Would you mind moving along?” the woman said, “You’re scaring the customers.” Her brows furrowed and deepened the lines on her face. The figure hesitated but moved along. The other two figures followed behind it in silence. Lucy shivered in Natsu’s grasp. When the Lorean customers emerged from their hiding, Natsu released her.
“You should have let them take you,” the old woman said.
“You know better than that, Madam Tear,” Natsu said.
“Unfortunately, I do.” She smiled up at the two of them and tapped the mouthpiece of her pipe to her lips. “You’re searching for Dacia.”
“How did you know?” Lucy asked.
“She’s a soothsayer,” Natsu said. “You know, Madam, why I can’t allow them to capture us.”
“You know nothing little dragon.” She gave him a knowing smile that reached her eyes. “Though I’m glad to see you’re on the right track with this one.” She gestured toward Lucy. “She’s pretty.”
“Who are you?” Lucy asked.
“You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.” Madam Tear puffed on her long pipe. The mystical smoke wafted into the air.
“Why did you say I should let them take us?” Natsu squatted in front of the woman with arms resting on his knees. The picture of them together reminded Lucy of a grandson and his grandmother.
“They have a Dacian,” she said with another inhale of smoke.
“If these Dacians are legendary, why is one captured by—what are those things?” Lucy asked.
“Wraiths, nasty things.” Madam Tear’s earrings jingled when she shivered and tapped out some ash from her pipe. She peered up at Lucy with narrowed eyes. “Lorean traffickers.”
“Like human trafficking? That feels hard to believe. Loreans aren’t exactly easy to kidnap,” Lucy said.
“Don’t underestimate wraiths.”
“And you wanted them to catch us? Thanks,” Natsu said.
“You need that Dacian to get into their city.” Madam Tear shrugged.
“I thought Dacians weren’t able to leave the city.” Natsu’s brows raised.
“Only the assassins leave,” Madam Tear said. The woman eyed Lucy and tapped at her pipe. “You didn’t think they would allow anyone to leave and remain alive to tell others the location of their precious city, did you?” Her chest shook with laughter. “Besides, that Dacian needs help.”
“Why?” Natsu asked.
“Things are in unrest in Dacia.”
“Do you think you can get in without a Dacian, Natsu?” Lucy asked.
“I said I could get us into Pandemonia. I’m not even sure it’s there.” Natsu lifted his gaze, eyes unfocused on the woman’s tent.
“More reason to have a Dacian show you.” The woman’s cough sounded as though something rattled around in her chest.
“Are you okay?” Lucy asked.
“I was once. Mistakes are easy to make, not so easy to make right.” She stood from her chair. Lucy leaned in to help her up, but she shooed her away with her free hand. The other clasped to her long pipe. Before she disappeared into the tent, she had turned to Natsu. “Be careful, little dragon. I hope we meet again.”
“Well, that was helpful,” he said.
“Should we ask her where they’re keeping the Dacian? Capture is not the only option.” The idea of those cloaked figures descending upon them, to capture and sell them to other Loreans, disturbed her.
“We don’t have to.” Natsu moved around the tent and followed a type of alley between booths and tents.
“What is this place, Natsu? Have you been here before?” The question had sat on her tongue since their argument with the merchant.
“It’s a kind of black market for Loreans. The Horde use this place a lot.”
“Like the dark web?” Lucy asked.
“Like what?” Natsu took her hand when the crowd massed around them.
“You can’t tell me that an evil group like the Horde doesn’t use the dark web.”
“I don’t even know what that is.”
“None of you use computers?” Even in the noisy crowd, she heard him laugh. The sound stirred something in her stomach. The genuine laughter took her by surprise.
“Lucy, we live in castles. We don’t actually do tech.”
“Good point, but you’re all missing out.”
“Been on this dark web a lot?” Natsu tilted his head so that he could glance behind him. His grin lit up his face, and her heart did another embarrassing twist. My gods, I’m like a lovesick teen.
Bodies sped by them as they moved through the dark market. Eyes flashed different shades of colors as they bumped past other beings. She swore some of them were human. Though that would blatantly disobey the rules of the gods. If the Lore remained hidden, they may mingle with humans. Wrath would rain down if they became exposed. Yet, here were humans partaking in Lorean wares. At the speed they moved, she barely made out what each booth sold. She caught a glimpse of normal magic items. Crystals, bones, herbs, but there were other things. Heads on sticks, live creatures squirming in bottles, and nasty-looking weapons. The booths crushed in on each other, some of them stacked giving the whole place a city-like appearance.
“Wait.” She tugged at his hand to try, in vain, to stop their forward trajectory. Meeting with the strange, cloaked figures left her uneasy. “We’re going deeper in!” Where was Natsu taking her? The crowd thickened the farther they went. Voices rose higher as she made out some of their conversations.
“How much is this one?”
“I hope it isn’t another nymph.”
“What? I hope it is another nymph.” The voices of Loreans buzzed around them. What was going on? A small stage set up in the middle of the market came into view. They stopped and hovered in the shadows of a tent. She leaned toward Natsu, who lowered his ear to her.
“Are you insane? What is this?” she asked. Adrenaline pumped through her veins as she took in their cramped surroundings.
♥♥♥
Her warm breath against his ear sent a shiver down his back. A few places came to mind that he wouldn’t mind sneaking her to for a while. If it weren’t for the damn Dacian, he’d kick out whoever owned the tent beside them and take her there. The image of her from the night before, her naked in his bed, flashed through his mind.
“If they have a Dacian, this is where they will be selling him.” Natsu crossed his arms over his chest to keep his hands to himself. Someone pushed through the crowd behind her and knocked her off balance. To keep from falling over, she gripped his wrist, and her breasts pressed against his arm. He never wanted someone so bad in his life. He hadn’t fed in quite some time either. The thirst beat at him as they stood in the crowd of onlookers. She raised a brow at the man that shoved through the crowd to get closer to the stage.
“I would tell him off if we weren’t in the middle of the living embodiment of the dark web,” she said. Another voice rang out across the crowd.
“Our next piece up for auction!” A short bald man stood on the stage in an obnoxious green suit. His arms waved at the dark figures moving toward the stage. The crowd parted for them. A man fought an invisible force that pulled him toward the stage. Because of the approaching merchandise, the crowd’s voices hushed. The wraiths never touched their victims, and there were whispers of telekinesis. This wasn’t the first time he’d witnessed a selling, but he avoided it if he could. The Horde didn’t deal in trafficking, as evil as it was. Under Zeref’s rule, a lot of darker Horde dealings had ended. Now that he knew about Mavis, the thought crossed his mind that Zeref’s calmed behavior was her doing.
“This is disgusting.” Lucy wrapped her arms around herself. The wraiths tossed the man on stage. His body fell to the floor with his arms tied together by another invisible force. When he fell forward, he smashed his face into the wooden stage and rolled onto his side. His long black hair covered his face like a shield. The bald man sneered at the vampire but smiled at the crowd.
“Here we have a Dacian assassin! Do with him what you will!” The man’s arms waved at the vampire in a heap on the floor. His body lay motionless. Something about the victim felt familiar to Natsu. If only he could scent him, he’d be able to tell if they’d met.
“Are you alright?” Lucy asked.
“I think I know that guy.”
“How could you know that? I can’t even see his face.”
“Let the bidding begin!” The auctioneer’s voice boomed without a microphone at his lips. A few hands flew up. Some shouted substantial sums of money, and the auctioneer repeated them out for everyone to hear.
“How are we going to get him out of this?” Lucy asked.
“By taking him, from whoever wins him, of course.” The crowd tightly packed in around the stage. Too many eyes to take him now. The cloaked wraiths remained around the Dacian like guards. The figures were no longer responsible for the merchandise once headed to the buyer. The biddings trickled in after the initial wave. The auctioneer’s phony grin carved in place, but his voice strained with impatience.
“This is a pure-bred Dacian, a leech of old Lore! I see only some of you can see its value.” This perked up some ears. A few Loreans wore grimaces and hands followed in the bidding. “Oh? Was I wrong in assuming that some of you are ignorant of the rare value of such a find?” A few more hands followed that statement.
“How do people fall for shit like that?” Lucy laughed through her nose and shook her head. The Dacian’s body stirred on stage. He whipped his veil of hair from his face and winced when the auctioneer placed a shoe on his back. Now, Natsu knew why the man felt so familiar. The Dacian on stage was Rogue, Zeref’s right hand, and Sting’s confidant. Rogue’s body stilled under the man’s boot. His wince told Natsu that he had an injury somewhere they couldn’t see.
“What is he doing here?” The real question was why the auctioneer continued to call him a Dacian. Rogue was a known Horde vampire. Dacians, up until now, were only a legend.
“So, you do know him?” Lucy asked.
“He’s a Horde vampire.”
“They keep saying he’s Dacian. Can he be both?”
“We’ll have to ask him when we get him out of there.” The bidding went fast, and the amounts continued to grow. A tall reptilian demon grinned with triumph at their win and marched toward the stage with two other demons—much bulkier than himself—trailing behind him.
“Terrific. Okay, what now boy genius? You want to fight all three of them?” Lucy rolled her eyes and gripped the whip at her side. Earlier with the merchant, he’d felt a surge of power he’d never felt before coming from her. He’d ask her about that whip another time.
♥♥♥
“Absolutely.” Natsu’s wide grin returned. The crowd dispersed and the auctioneer signaled for the next piece of merchandise. One of the reptilian demons slung Rogue’s battered body over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. While most headed toward other booths, some stuck around and eyed the reptilians. All of them the losers of the auction. Lucy didn’t blame the demon for bringing a bit of muscle with him. Natsu caught her hand and slid her through the chaotic crowd as another victim trudged on stage for the auction. The two of them followed the demons until they slipped past a booth and slunk down a tunnel covered in roots and vegetation. She pulled at Natsu’s hand to stop him.
“What? Scared to take them?” he asked.
“As cute as that sounds, I’m pretty sure they’re being followed.” Lucy nodded toward two shifty-looking Loreans, with long feathered wings pinned to their backs, who entered the cave after them. “I think they had the same plan we did.”
“Then we better hurry or they’re going to take our fight!” His body gave off enough heat that Lucy felt it at their proximity. “I’m fired up now.”
“Wait—” He gripped her hand and followed the rest of them into the darkness. Natsu’s free hand lit in flames to illuminate the earth walls. Disembodied voices drifted in from the other end of the tunnel. They trudged carefully over exposed roots and rocky earth. “Have you even fought reptilians before?” she asked in the dark. The orange glow from his lit palm bounced off his skin and illuminated the grin that appeared there. If she didn’t know Natsu, she’d say he appeared menacing.
“Not yet,” he said.
“Wow, real nice date you took me on.”
“What better date is there than a quest?” he replied. Unbelievable. Of all vampires in the world, this was the one that fate decided to put her with.
“What makes you think I like that kind of thing?”
“You wouldn’t be my bride if you didn’t like a little adventure.” She opened her mouth to respond when a loud impact shook the walls of the cave. Both picked up speed toward the end of the tunnel. Her fingers detached her whip from her hip as they ran. The way ahead stretched on in ink-black shadows.
“Wasn’t there moonlight outside when we fell down here?” she asked.
“Yeah, why?”
“So, shouldn’t there be light at the end of the tunnel?” The pitch-black stretched toward them as though they’d walk into the void. They stopped in front of the dark wall that led out of the cave. “What is that?” Another crash came from the other side. Was this darkness a solid wall? Natsu stepped forward and reached out through the void. His hand slid behind the veil and disappeared. “Maybe we shouldn’t—” Natsu stepped in completely and vanished. The darkness behind Lucy enveloped her in the tunnel. Only one way out.
She reached her hand out the way Natsu had. Nothing felt different on the other side, and with great trepidation, she stepped through the darkness. Her heart dropped to the floor when she felt a warm hand wrap around her wrist as she exited the tunnel. A hand clamped over her mouth before she could scream. Natsu pulled her behind an enormous bush as another massive impact shook the earth. She pulled his hand from her mouth, taking in the bizarre fight before them.
“Looks like you were right, Lucy,” Natsu said. The great winged demons hovered over the reptilians. The beat of their feathery wings loud enough for them to hear. One of the reptilians lay in a heap on the ground, its neck at a grotesque angle. The others ignored the body, and stood in front of Rogue’s motionless form, their attention on the skies. One winged demon shot down and slammed their feet into the face of the reptile with enough force to create a blast zone. The dust settled, and the beast hovered in the air with a wide grin. They spit something that sounded vile in an unfamiliar language at their enemy. Only two reptilians remained and wisely chose to retreat through the void that Natsu and Lucy had traveled through.
“You want to fight those?” Lucy asked. Instead of a reply, Natsu ran out toward the battlefield.
“Okay, chickens! It’s my turn.” He stood beside Rogue’s body crumbled on the ground. Was he even conscious? The flying demons rattled off to each other until one shot toward Rogue, another barreled down toward Natsu. Lucy’s whip cracked in the air; the wave of power toppled the one who dived toward the Dacian. The demon’s neck hit a large rock with a loud snap. The air around Natsu rippled like a distant road on a sweltering day. The demon’s eyes widened, but its momentum already set its fate. When the demon reached the vampire, the earth around Natsu exploded. Lucy picked up Rogue’s limp body and moved away from the blast zone. The air around them grew eerily silent as the dust cleared.
“You alright in there?” Lucy called. A tan and bloodied hand shot out of the dust in a thumbs up. Only then did she wrap her whip at her waist. “I expected more power from those demons.” Natsu sauntered from the crater he’d created. The demon now lay crumbled at the center, barely recognizable.
“I did too.” Unlike Lucy, his tone fell in disappointment. “How’s Rogue?” he asked. The vampire lay motionless on the ground.
“I mean, I can’t tell if he’s really dead. Leeches don’t breathe and all.” She nudged his shoulder with her boot and sucked in a breath when his body moved. A deep groan emanated from the mysterious new vampire. As soon as his eyes locked onto Lucy, he sprang up to grab for her. Shit. She had already tied up her whip, and her blade was out of reach tucked away in her boot. Her body froze as he lunged.
♥♥♥
Natsu’s fist came down on Rogue’s arm before he got a hold of Lucy. With his other, he pushed her out of harm’s way. His fresh heartbeat in his ears as he placed himself between the two of them. Rogue’s eyes burned a bright red, and fangs sharpened.
“Watch yourself, Rogue. Or it’ll be your neck next,” Natsu said. The beaten vampire cradled his arm against his chest.
“Natsu?” Surprised recognition playing in his voice. Rogue’s gaze distant and burned the bright red of bloodlust.
“Who were you expecting? Santa Claus?” The laugh that burst from Rogue took Natsu by surprise but didn’t drop his guard. “You look like ass, Rogue. What happened to you?”
“I missed that shitty sense of humor of yours.” Rogue moved to stand, then winced and remained where he sat in the dirt. He leaned back on his palms with legs stretched out in front of him.
“Are you a Dacian?” Lucy stepped forward with her arms crossed over her voluptuous chest, and her whip at the ready in her grasp.
“You’re a lovely thing. Who are you?” Rogue licked his chapped and cut lips. Lucy’s whip cracked in the air and snapped against the earth, terribly close to Rogue’s crotch.
“Make that look again, or try to touch me, and I’ll whip your balls clean off your body.” Her eyes swirled a turbulent silver. Gods, she’s perfect. “Why are you smiling?” Her eyes narrowed at Natsu. He held up his hands in submission.
“You lucky son of a bitch.” Rogue chuckled as he slowly got to his feet and held his side. He nearly toppled over if it weren’t for a tree he leaned on. “When did you find a bride? And a hot one at that.”
“Watch it.” Lucy held a finger up to Rogue as a warning.
“I think the better question here is when were you going to tell me that you were a Dacian?” Natsu asked.
“Would you have believed me if I told you?”
“If Dacians can’t leave, how are you also a Horde vampire?” Lucy said.
“I think these questions are going to have to wait.” Rogue cleared his throat roughly and spit out blood. “Let’s find shelter, and I can explain.” He gestured further in the thick forest.
“What? Here?” Lucy scrunched up her nose.
“Would you like to go back there where they can sell you off to the highest bidder?” Rogue asked and pointed toward the dark void they’d come through.
“We’re still on Gaia anyway. Above ground from the market,” Natsu said. The familiar smell of incoming rain permeated the air around them. When Rogue pushed from the tree, he grimaced and stumbled.
“How about a little hand?” Rogue held out his hand to Lucy to help him walk.
“In your dreams,” she said. Natsu moved to Rogue’s side and pulled his weak arm over his own stronger shoulder.
They found a cave as the first drops of rain struck the parched earth. Natsu sat Rogue on the ground with his back against the cave’s rock wall. Lucy leaned across from them with her arms crossed, observant eyes surveyed the vampire Natsu once fought alongside.
“Spill it, Rogue.” Natsu’s curiosity ate away at him.
“I am a Dacian,” he said finally, “I left centuries ago and found Zeref, later Sting.” The long shadows drifted from his face as the moon peeked through the dense cloud cover of the night.
“You expect me to believe you not only escaped Dacia but also eluded Dacian assassins?” Natsu stood between Rogue and Lucy. The vampire, beaten and starved, sat on the cave floor like a cornered animal ready to strike at anything in the name of feeding himself. The power that emanated from him reflected in the bright eerie red glow of his eyes in the darkness.
“It doesn’t matter if you believe me or not. Though, you know I cannot lie.” The great yawn of the cave entrance filled with the sound of heavy rain. Rogue glanced between the two of them in a way that sent chills over Natsu’s skin. Not far off from the predatory way Zeref would examine him. “As much as I appreciate the help, why did you rescue me?” His voice held the steady stillness of a calm lake before a thrown stone.
“We need to get into Dacia,” Natsu said.
“Natsu,” Lucy hissed.
“What? There is no use hiding what we know.” He gestured to the injured vampire on the dirt floor. “And I’d rather not feel my mouth burn over this guy.”
“Zeref finally opened up to you about the Fairy Tactician? Wow, good for him.”
“You know about Mavis?” Lucy raised a brow. “Does that have something to do with why those things captured you?” She gestured to the mouth of the cave where the rain came in with a gust of wind, misting their heated faces.
“Smart girl. He asked me to look for Dacia after he discovered Mavis was there. I found a lead here.”
“If he knew she was in Dacia, why send for Ultear the Queen of Time?” Lucy resigned herself to a protruding rock jutting from the cave wall. Rogue tilted his head and adjusted himself on the floor, clutching his wounded side.
“I wasn’t there when he gave that order. I must have taken too long for his liking.”
“What could she do?” Natsu asked.
“Turn back time. Possibly, to a time when he had Mavis.”
“Isn’t that dangerous?” Lucy asked. Rogue chuckled, meeting Natsu’s eyes.
“What would you do to get your bride back, Natsu?” His grin appeared lopsided from the cut on his swollen lip. The answer came to him without a second thought. Anything. The thought of someone taking Lucy, or killing her, made his heart squeeze in his chest. If he had any doubt about the power of matehood before, he couldn’t now. “Well, I hate to cut off the conversation, but I need to eat.”
“Don’t look at me,” Lucy said.
“No worries. I’ll be dining out this evening.” Rogue wobbled but stood on his own.
“Get that wound from the wraiths?” Natsu asked.
“A Dacian assassin. Barely got away. The bastards.” Rogue grimaced as he leaned against the rocky entry. The scent of damp earth wafted into the cavern and overpowered any other scent the rain may have washed away. “They’ll always be after me, and don’t worry about this.” He gestured to his side. “After I feed, I can help you get to Dacia. We’re all Horde family here after all.” Rogue trudged out into the rain. His presence disappeared as soon as his body moved out of sight. Horde family, huh?
“Can we trust him?” Lucy’s shoulders sagged.
“No, but we have more chance of finding Dacia with his help.” Natsu gestured for her to scoot over on the rock for him to sit beside her. To his surprise, she didn’t object. In fact, she leaned her head against his shoulder. “He used to be quiet, you know.”
“Quiet?”
“Yeah, he kept to himself. Sting, another Horde vampire, usually spoke for them both. When Rogue finally conversed with me, his eyes had already changed with bloodlust.” Lucy sat up and stretched her arms over her head. Her scent pervaded the space with the toss of her hair, and her heartbeat drummed in his ears like a song.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Lucy rubbed her neck.
“Like what?” Natsu stood and moved to lean on the other side of the cave. He couldn’t smell past the damp earth and fresh rainstorm outside. I should have gone with him. His instincts alerted him to Lucy’s welcoming form inside.
“When was the last time you fed?” The dreaded question. Natsu internally kicked himself for not feeding before they left. After taking her soft skin against his aching fangs, even if it were only an accident, he needed only Lucy. No one else would do. “Natsu?” Could he ask her? Lucy sat at the edge of the rock, her palms pressed to the surface, and eyes attentive and wide. If she said yes, would he be able to control himself?
♥♥♥
Natsu’s eyes swam in familiar darkness. Lucy’s skin heated from his gaze.
“Since I touched you in the witch’s dungeon.” His voice was rougher than she’d heard before. Whatever she thought he’d say, that wasn’t it. Her body responded in kind; thighs pressed together, attempting to relieve the building ache.
“And before that?”
“The night I tasted you.” Natsu relinquished his spot at the cave entry to stand in front of her. The image of him between her legs, his eyes fixed on her face as he devoured her, replayed in her head like a dream.
“You need to feed.” What was she saying? Her body craved his bite and begged her to give in. Clearly, all this vampire stuff was getting to her. When he grinned, his fangs lengthened in his mouth. Fangs should not be that sexy.
“Your eyes are silver again.”
“Yours are black.”
“If I said I did need to feed, what would you say?”
“Do you want to drink from me?” She meant her words to sound sarcastic, but instead, they felt breathless. When he nipped her last time, her legs nearly gave out. Say yes. Natsu leaned in enough to press his palms to the rock on either side of her. His face stilled inches from her own.
“Only if you ask me to,” he said. Had Cana been right? Was Natsu different from those other vampires? Lucy had spent most of her life destroying the undead. She’d met so many that she’d become biased to their ways. But Natsu, at every turn, had proven her biases wrong. One of the many being his loyalty. She couldn’t deny the way she felt. Couldn’t hold back from her desire to have him sink his fangs into her, to feed from her alone.
“Sit down, Natsu.” Lucy pointed to the rock. He hesitated but sat with obedience. She hadn’t expected the thrill his actions elicited from her. His jaw went slack when she moved to straddle his lap and moved her long mane of hair over her shoulder to expose her neck. His obsidian gaze snapped to her bare skin.
“Lucy.” His voice strained as his hands clenched to fists at his side.
“If we do this standing, I’ll fall over,” she said. As if acknowledging her invitation, he slid his hands over the small of her back to grab her rear and pull her flush against his obvious arousal.
“Can’t have that, can we?” His face lit like a child given a gift for his birthday.
“Bite me, Natsu.”
“With pleasure.” Natsu slid a hand to the back of her neck, holding her in place. She grasped his upper arm and felt her pulse race as he leaned into her. The pinch of his fangs soon replaced with ecstasy. With his first draw of blood, a moan slipped from her lips, and his fingers dug into her hip. He groaned into her neck and sent her into a frenzy. Her hips rocked against his rigid shaft desperate for relief. Her clothes felt heavy against her skin. With each pull, a wave of pleasure washed over her. Natsu jerked his hips up to meet her demanding thrusts, and his name rolled from her lips like magic. With one final pull, she fell apart in his arms, his grip tight around her body.
Natsu stilled, pulled away, and licked delicately at the wound on her neck before it closed. He leaned his forehead against her shoulder. Hot breath ragged against her heated skin as he spoke. “You can let go.” His voice a husky version of the playful tone he’d had before. She allowed her thighs to relax and released her grip on his arm.
“Is it like this every time?” Lucy’s own voice a low whisper. Natsu chuckled and lifted his eyes to hers. His cheeks flushed from her blood running through his veins.
“Every time.”
“I could get used to that.” She slid from his lap and adjusted her clothes.
“Are you feeling alright?” Natsu inspected her while pinching the skin between his thumb and forefinger in his lap.
“I feel fine, why?” His shoulders visibly relaxed and he allowed his hands to drop as he stood.
“Making sure I didn’t take too much,” he said. In all her life, she’d never heard of a vampire that cared about taking too much blood from anyone. She cupped her hands over his cheeks and pulled his head down so that their lips met. He wrapped his arms around her, moved her close, and deepened their kiss. “What was that for?”
“Proving me wrong every time.” Lucy strode toward the cave exit. The rain had dissipated, leaving behind glistening foliage and mud.
“Are you ready?” Rogue leaned against a tree that shaded the moonlight.
“How long have you been standing there?” She felt heat spread over her cheeks.
“Not long.” He leaned away from the tree and stretched. His wounds had all disappeared, the dirt on his face gone with them, and he’d tied his hair up in a high ponytail. The only thing left on his face was a light scar across his nose. Now that he’d eaten and cleaned up, Rogue appeared quite attractive. His usual red haze over his eyes had dimmed. “You look well,” he remarked as Natsu exited the cave behind her. He wagged his eyebrows at Lucy and turned to head down a muddy walking path covered in greenery.
“The minute we no longer need him, I want to rip out his fangs,” Lucy said.
“Same,” Natsu said.

The witches’ living room fell quiet except for Erza’s feet padding across the floor. The stillness disturbed when Gray appeared.
“What took you so long?” Erza demanded. Her pace slowed to a stop in front of the Forebearer. Gray shook some snow out of his hair, leaving little droplets on the hardwood floor.
“I had to wait for him to return.” His voice was devoid of the edge he’d had when the other vampires occupied the room. “He wants to speak with you as well.” Gray held out his hand. Erza hesitated. Her deep-rooted belief that a vampire only meant trouble clawed away at her. “Don’t worry Valkyrie. I have no reason to harm any of you now.”
“Not like you could,” Erza said, taking his hand. The world around her blinked from existence. She found herself in front of tall castle doors in the dead of deep winter. Gray pressed a button on a high-tech panel, the entrance creaked open, and he motioned for her to enter first.
The vampire led her to an ornately carved door. When opened, the strong scent of old tomes overtook her. The room was beautiful with furniture placed in such a way that her eyes drew to the large desk and the man who stood behind it. His dark blue hair windswept, his hands tucked behind his back like a warlord, and he wore a coat resembling Gray’s. When he turned, his lapis blue eyes widened at her presence.
“Titania,” he said so low she almost missed it.
“I haven’t heard that name in a long time.”
“I’m Jellal Fernandes,” he said after he cleared his throat. He gave her an unnecessary chivalrous bow.
“We can skip the pleasantries, Fernandes.” As much as she wanted to know where he’d heard that name from, she had more important things to ask. “You know Natsu is helping us.” Jellal nodded and asked her to sit. “I need to know everything you know about Mavis.” She stepped closer to the seating area. The massive clouds and winter landscape stretched out on the other side of the large windows behind him. The light was dim enough for him to stand there, but bright enough for her to make out the intricate red tattoo across his angular and handsome face. Instead of sitting, she crossed her arms over her chest.
“I told Natsu everything that I know.”
“If you are working with Natsu, then you are working with us.” There was no air of aggression around this man, the way she’d felt in other rulers, yet he stood with poise and cloaked himself in power. Her curiosity crept over her skin like vines. There’s no time for that.
“So, did you come here to get information or to make an alliance?” He leaned forward and pressed his palms against the dark wood of his desk. Could she make an alliance with leeches? The idea of it made her stomach roll, but they were in desperate need of allies. Natsu had proven his loyalty to Lucy, but how far could she really trust him? How could she speak to Mavis again after working with vampires? She wished Mavis were there to ask her what to do. “Trick question?” Jellal stood and moved to the other side of the desk. He sat on the edge with his gaze trained on her. At least his eyes didn’t burn red the way other leeches did.
“Depends,” she said.
“On?”
“On how much information you’re willing to give me.” She half expected the small smile that lifted the corner of his lips.
“I made a vow to Natsu to protect him and his bride. In my eyes, this means I’m willing to make an alliance. But are you?” He tilted his head and waited for her reply.
“Since you have no further information for me, the only thing I’d need you for is your army. I’m not looking for a long engagement. You help us and that’s it.”
“And what do I get out of it?”
“What did you have in mind?”
“Your company.” If his face hadn’t remained impassive, she would have expected his words were a joke.
“Excuse me?”
“I’d like to get to know you, Erza.”
“And why is that?” she asked. He moved around the desk toward her; his deep blue eyes swirled with an inkling of darkness as he neared.
“You interest me. Any allyship with you would be worth it, no matter how short.” Erza’s heart leapt in her chest.
“Then I guess it’s a deal.” Erza expected the man to back away and send her home. Instead, he eyed her mouth and wet his own lips. The gesture spurred on a fluttering in her stomach. “First, we need to find Dacia.” Jellal’s eyes snapped up and brows furrowed on his beautiful face.
“What’s in Dacia?”
“Our queen.” Jellal ran a hand through his hair and eyed Gray, who stood quietly by the door.
“Do you have any leads?” Jellal asked.
“Natsu spoke to Zeref. Apparently, the realm could either be in Gaia or in Pandemonia.”
“Where is he now?”
“Zeref? How should I know?” She would never understand the Forebearer’s fixation on the Horde king.
“No, Natsu.”
“He went to Pandemonia.”
“With his bride?” His face back to the impassive and unreadable expression she’d seen before. His hands clenched into fists.
“How did you—”
“Have they found Dacia?” His voice shook at the name of the mystical vampiric realm. Something scared this powerful man.
“What is bothering you, Master Fernandes?” Gray asked.
“Igneel is in Dacia.” Jellal pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Who?” Erza asked.
“The vow has already been made. He can’t back out just because he found his father,” Gray said.
“That is not my concern.” Jellal slouched into the seat behind his desk. “I’m afraid Natsu’s father is not the man he once knew.”

Pairing(s): NaLu
_____
“Open, Gate of the Golden Bull: Taurus!” Lucy Heartfilia shouted, summoning the celestial spirit to her side.
“Mooo! It’s nice to see you again, Miss Luuucy.” Her celestial spirit, Taurus, drawled as the golden light of Lucy’s magic dissipated.
A large crash echoed through the forest near Magnolia as Lucy dove to avoid getting hit by a thick plant root, only a gaping hole left of the earth where she previously stood.
“Not the time,” Lucy panted before struggling to her feet again. “I need you to get in there and snap those vines!” she directed.
Celestial Wizard Lucy Heartfilia, her partner Fire Dragon Slayer Natsu Dragneel, and their cat companion, Happy, had taken a simple job helping out a local farmer. The request had asked for a few wizards to come assist in the extermination of the vermin rampaging through the owner’s crops.
“Stop pouting,” she said as the trio walked through town towards the agricultural district. “At least you get to beat something up.” She smiled, glancing around at the fruit and vegetable stalls lining the streets.
The pink haired wizard crossed his arms before letting out an offended huff. “I’m a dragon slayer, not an exterminator.” He whined.
The blonde let out a giggle, ignoring his petulant child act. Her laughter didn’t last long, however. Upon their arrival at the little farm, the trio soon realized that things weren’t as they appeared. Much to Lucy’s horror and Natsu’s delight, the vermin that needed bashing turned out to be full-fledged, plant-based monsters.
“’Let’s do it’ I said. ‘This will be easy’ I said. How does a Venus Flytrap even grow this large?” Lucy grumbled as she jumped over another stream of murderous plant roots. Finally finding solid ground, she pointed Taurus towards the twisted nether of roots and stems that kept the frightening flora grounded. Meanwhile, Natsu busied himself with torching the other five or so reanimated plants that littered the forests edge.
“Fire Dragon: Roar!” He let out a manic laugh as his flames transformed an entire line of trees into glittering torches, burning friend and foe indiscriminately.
“Natsu, watch where you’re aiming,” Lucy scolded, letting loose a disgruntled shout as she once again narrowly missed a blow to the side via killer plants. The self-proclaimed farmer, apparently, was a wizard himself who specialized in foreign herbs with magical properties. Their current foes were the result of his latest creations gone very wrong.
“We already owe a great deal in repair costs as it is. The master will kill us if we burn down another building,” she reminded him, hand on her hip.
“Yeah, Yeah.” Natsu shrugged as he incinerated yet another row of trees and crops.  “Stop with your naggin’ already. We’ll be fi– Hey Lucy, watch out!” The dragon slayer let out a roar as Lucy whipped around. A faint gasp swept past her lips as a verdant blur crossed her vision. Pain ricocheted down her left side as a stray vine from the Flytrap knocked her to the ground, tangling with her legs and whipping her towards the Venus’ awaiting jaws.
“Argh,” Natsu screamed, face contorted in anger. “Fire Dragon: Wing Attack!” The vines that dug at her skin, slowly encroaching upon her torso, were suddenly engulfed in flame and burnt to a crisp. She yelped as Natsu’s flames left her stranded in the open air. With nothing left to catch her fall, she plummeted back down to the rigid ground, her head smacking against the dirt with a harsh crack. A muffled yowl came from beneath her and she rolled over to find a disgruntled Happy scowling back at her.
“You alright, Luce?” Natsu questioned, finishing off the last of the nasty creatures.
“I’m the one in pain,” Happy cried, indignantly. “Lucy squashed me with her fat butt!”
“WATCH IT, CAT!” she screeched at the little blue exceed, the pain from her fall quickly washed into the foreground.
Natsu cackled, causing the celestial spirit mage to turn her glare on him. Noticing the change in atmosphere, he yelped as a certain red-haired wizard came to mind.
“Scary,” he whined. Lucy’s scowl deepened before gifting him with another one of her signature Lucy Kicks.
“Humph,” she muttered, smiling in satisfaction. “Serves you right.”
_____
Later, at the Fairy Tail guildhall, the pair found themselves curled around the bar. Mira wiped down the counters, glancing at the two while she worked. Lucy sat on Natsu’s left with reequip mage Erza Scarlet on his right. Gajeel, Levy, and Pantherlily were located at a table behind him, while Gray was doing his best to avoid an overly exuberant Juvia. Happy had disappeared soon after their arrival back at the guild, dreams of fish and a particular white feline dancing in his head. An overall jubilant air had settled on the guild as members had returned from their missions to settle in for the day.
Lucy leaned against the bar, head spinning, with a strawberry concoction clutched between her palms. A dull ache had settled into her bones since their mission earlier, winding around her mind like a snake. A slight burning sensation danced along her side as a pair of onyx eyes watched her with intensity.
“I’m fine,” she said with a huff, not bothering to turn towards the dragon slayer gazing at her worriedly.
“Lucy, I–”
“Really, Natsu, I’m alright.”
Natsu grumbled, unconvinced, as he finished off the plate of food Mira had set before him. He knew Lucy was lying, but he also knew that she could be just as pigheaded as him. She had been acting strange ever since their return from their earlier expedition. Despite her claims otherwise, he could tell something was up.
Lucy stood up abruptly, letting out a heavy sigh, before turning towards Natsu once more. Ignoring the stars that threatened to consume her vision, she forced a wide smile onto her lips. “Don’t worry,” she said. “I’ll be okay. I think I’m just gonna head home and get some rest. The fight today really took it out of me. Thanks for the drink, Mira.”
She gave one more wave to the white-haired woman before making her way towards the entrance. Before he could make any move to stop Lucy’s departure, Erza placed an armor clad hand on his shoulder. “She’ll be fine, Natsu,” the red-haired warrior assured him. “She can take care of herself.”
He simply nodded, giving Lucy another intense stare before promptly getting knocked off of his barstool by a half-naked Gray. Mira giggled as Natsu let out an enraged scream. Apparently, Juvia had finally caught up to her beloved Gray.
“What the heck was that for, you pervert?”  Natsu yelled as he quickly shifted into battle-mode, fists blazing with fire.
“Who you callin’ pervert, flame for brains?” Gray challenged.
Soon after, a fight broke out between the two, eventually expanding into a guild-wide brawl after another slice of Erza’s strawberry cake was destroyed. Lucy, who had been watching from the towering guild doors, shook her head. She let out a yelp as a chair smashed against the wall to her left, before finally disappearing out the door and into the streets of Magnolia.
Despite a slight limp in her step and pain in her side, the walk home wasn’t as bad as she’d first expected it to be. It wasn’t long before she was weaving her way past the ferrymen and stumbling into her apartment with a heavy sigh.
“Home at last,” she hummed to herself. She stretched out her limbs, cringing as her ankle buckled a bit in pain, before making her way toward the bathroom. “Maybe a shower will help wash off the pain from today,” she mused, ridding herself of her blood-stained clothes. With steam flooding the little room and the water temperature set on high, she stepped carefully into the scalding water. A shaky breath escaped her lips, but her mind continued to spin at a rapid fire pace. Groaning in frustration, she tried for another calming breath. Despite her chance to finally relax a bit, she couldn’t manage to quiet her mind. It had already been a long day, now made even longer by the pain that constricted her mind and body. A glance towards her numerous bruises sent a frustrated sigh past her lips, before her features contorted in confusion. A second glance down at her body caused her gaze to quickly slip from confusion to fear. Thin green lines painted swirls and complex designs across her torso, leaving angry red marks in their wake. The vines, she thought. They don’t just feed off human flesh… “They steal magic power!” She shouted, mentally kicking herself for forgetting the farmer’s warnings. He’d told them that this was a possibility.
Her hands shook as she slowly grew more and more hysterical, tearing frantically at the small vines cutting at her body. Just as she made some headway clearing the thin vines, however, the dizziness from before threatened to overtake her. She reached for her keys, only to find them rendered useless. My magic power is too far gone, she cursed. “Loke, Virgo, someone please!” She cried out desperately. They can’t hear me, she sobbed. A single step towards the bathroom door sent her vision shaking. By two steps, the light in the room began to dance. By the third, Lucy could feel herself losing her will to stand. By the forth, she found herself hitting the ground as the ceiling grew further and further away. “Natsu…” She whispered as vines tangle around her mouth. Her vision slipped away as she soon felt herself get swallowed whole by a cocoon of roots and vines, before she finally lost consciousness altogether.
______
Back at the guild hall, things had finally settled down. Luckily, the aftermath of the brawl had been minimal. A few burnt spots, some broken tables and chairs, and a few missing pillars. The building, by some miracle, still stood proudly in the heart of town.
“Where’s Lucy?” Natsu asked, having finally cooled down from his fight with Gray.
“Oh. Lucy? She went home a little bit ago.” Mira said, smiling sweetly from behind the bar.
“You even watched her go, you idiot.” Gray said with a laugh. Natsu shot the Ice mage a scowl.
“He loooooves her.” Happy drawled from his place next to Charle on the bar top.
Natsu reddened in embarrassment, brushing salmon strands out of his face. The dragon slayer stiffened as a ball of anxiety settled into his stomach. His nose twitched as he took in the stale undertones in the air, confirming some unknown fears. He could be wrong, but he knew Lucy. He knew her scent and how it changed depending on her mood. Right now, the thick smell of fear curdled his blood. Something was wrong.
With one last vengeful fireball to Gray’s face, he ran off towards Lucy’s apartment with the blue exceed following close behind. Fellow mages and townsfolk cried out in protest as he pushed by them, but Natsu didn’t notice. Blood pumped in his ears, matching his racing footsteps as he hurtled himself down the stone streets. As Lucy’s apartment came into view he pushed his legs faster, using his fire to boost himself through her window in a single bound.
Once safely inside, the first thing he noticed was the silence. Despite the distinct sound of a shower in the background, the stillness hung like a thick fog in the air, suffocating him.  Steam seeped from beneath the bathroom door as he flung it open to reveal a horrific jungle. Vines grew up and off the walls, roots digging out of cracks in the floor.  Leafy plants twisted in midair like worms burrowing through the dirt, dragging curious fingers along his face and down his legs. “Lucy!” Natsu shouted, digging through twists and snarls in the vines. “Lucy!” No answer. Frantic, he set his body ablaze, burning down every vine he could get his hands on. The twisted nether of green squealed and screeched, cutting at his arms and face as every vine soon turned to ash. Finally, there was nothing left but a pale sleeping beauty curled up on the scorched and broken tile.
“Lucy…” his voice was barely a whisper as he pulled the blonde into his arms, swaddling her in a nearby towel. Ashen vines were like cobwebs arching across her ghostly pale skin, her fingers tinged blue as if frost bitten. Even her hair seemed somehow drained of life, as the last of her magical energy seemed to fall dangerously low.
“Nat-su,” a shuddering gasp swept past her grey, cracked lips. “Help m-me… S-so c-cold…” Her words came out in little puffs as her eyes fluttered open, straining to gaze up at his face.
“Lucy. Lucy, look at me. I – I’m here. I’m here. I’ve got you.” He hugged her into his chest, his tears melting into sobs as the smell of strawberries and vanilla wrapped around him. Desperately, he looked around the small apartment before his eyes settled on his blue companion, standing wide-eyed at the door.
“Get Wendy!” He cried out to the little exceed.
“Natsu?” His little eyes rounded with horror.
“NOW, HAPPY!”
“A-Aye, sir!” Happy jumped up and gave him a determined nod before soaring back out the open window from whence they’d come.
A shaky hand grasped onto his scarf, pulling his gaze back down to Lucy’s shaking form.  She curled like a sunflower into his warmth before letting out a shuttering gasp.
“Don’t leave me,” she wheezed. Every note grated against his ears, her normally melodic voice cracked and broken. Regret settled like a stone in his stomach as he cradled her closer to his chest.    “Never,” he whispered.
A soft kiss warmed her clammy skin, flowering across her cheek, as exhaustion finally pulled her into a deep, restless sleep.
______
Warm hands wrapped around her as the smell of wood smoke and cinnamon swirled through the air. She knew that scent. It meant safety, warmth. It meant home.
A slow smile stretched across her lips as her eyes fluttered open to see a chiseled chest and strong arms holding her close. A quick blink shot her eyes upward, only for them to be met with slightly parted lips. As her eyes roamed over the curved planes of his jaw, the slightly parted lips morphed gradually until she was met with a wide, toothy grin. One more shift left her breathless, as she tumbled deep into the depths of his obsidian gaze.
“Natsu –” she stammered.
“Welcome back.” He pulled her closer, resting his forehead onto hers before finally releasing a heavy sigh of relief.
All the pain that had previously ensnared her was gone without a trace. The telltale signs of the guildhall infirmary told her that she had Wendy’s sky magic to thank for that. The warmth that flooded her senses, however, was thanks to her one and only favorite dragon slayer. Although, she doubted it was his naturally higher body temperature that caused warmth to flood her cheeks. Curious eyes peered up at him as his eyes danced behind hooded eyelids. Her very presence seemed to melt him, soften his normally sharp edges.
“Natsu?” She questioned as his face lowered towards hers, their noses brushing together.
“Hmm?” he hummed a response, not quite focusing on her words.
“I –” she began, her words causing their lips to brush. Fire raced through her veins at the sudden touch. A gasp escaped her as their lips finally connected, the sound muffled by the gentle caress of his lips on hers. She felt the fire that raced through him swirling just beneath the skin, held back by an unseen floodgate. He nipped playfully at her bottom lip as their lips danced together in perfect harmony. Abandoning its previous position around her legs, his right hand slid up her side to cup her face while his left hand snaked around her waist, tugging her closer still to his chest. Trails of fire blazed across her skin wherever his fingers danced, sending a shiver of delight down her spine. Her delicate fingers dug into his silky salmon locks as all of their raw emotions were poured out, left open and vulnerable for the other to see. Their kiss grew desperate as the spicy taste of cinnamon filled her senses, causing her toes to curl and her fingers to tug harder at his cotton candy locks. With one last shuddering breath Natsu pulled away, studying her rosy cheeks and her chocolaty brown eyes alight with joy and complete contentment. A deep, throaty chuckle escaped his lips, vibrating against her chest, as he took in her dopey smile. Swollen red lips downturned into a pout, enticing him into another sweet kiss upon her lips, before her dopey grin returned with renewed vigor and her laughter intertwined with his. Lucy gazed sleepily up at Natsu as he mindlessly spun her golden locks through his fingers, a gentle lullaby to her tired mind.
“I –” she began slowly.
“She loooooves him!” came a teasing voice, followed by fits of laughter and giggles. Lucy’s eyes widened, taking in the audience staring at them from the doorway. Spotting the culprit for the interruption, her eyes narrowed on a certain blue exceed hidden in the crowd.
“SHUT IT, CAT!” She screeched as Natsu’s chuckles rolled into cackles, his body shaking as his face twisted with laughter. Lucy burrowed into his scaly white scarf, groans mixing with laughter as she took in a beautiful, terrifying truth. Happy was right about her and Natsu. She really did looooove him, and the adoration he showered down upon her told the mage that he really did looooove her, too.

The Stars Made Us (Part 16)
Prompt: In this world, you’re one of the “lucky” ones who got a soulmate, but what if the universe gives you more than you bargained for?
(Prompt challenge – You live in a world where your soulmate can write on their skin and you will get the writing on your own and vice versa. Where they can wash away the ink on their own skin, however, the writing is forever scarred onto your skin until you meet face to face)
Word Count: 3328
Warnings: angst and language throughout, seizure/medical complications
Notes: This was supposed to be for @sorryimacrapwriter  and their challenge like a year ago, I think? I still loved the prompt though and have been working on this story for quite some time. This aesthetic was made by @quailliamyfears, thank you so much! Beta’d by @like-a-bag-of-potatoes, couldn’t have done it without you, as well as @carryonmyswansong and @arrow-guy and @mrs-dragneel-stark-solo
Also, I’ve never really liked the whole soulmate AU thing idea, but this felt so right and it was amazing to write. I hope y’all love it too!!

The next morning you rolled in with a black coffee for Stephen and an iced coffee for yourself. Surprisingly, Stephen opened the door for you.
“I didn’t think you’d come back,” he scoffed with a smile as he walked away from you, leaving you to close the door.
“Why not?” you wondered innocently.
“Because I was trying my best to get you to leave yesterday.”
“Well, clearly your best isn’t good enough,” you quipped sarcastically with a wide grin. “I brought you black coffee since I don’t know what you drink.”
“Yet another reminder of why I’m wondering you're even here,” he noted as he took the cup.
“You know, you could always tell me what it is,” you retorted.
“Ah, but watching you stumble over the answers is the fun part.” He smiled at you and suddenly your knees were weak. Somehow, this ass of a man made your knees weak. “I’m going to go shower and shave. I have to be somewhere in two hours,” he informed you.
“Oh? Where might that be?”
“At a place I like to call none of your business.”
You sighed. “Stephen, I’m here to help. Remember that.”
“You can help by making the bed,” he called over his shoulder as he walked toward the bedroom. You went to the laundry basket from last night that you left in the hallway, retrieving the sheets and pillow cases you had washed.
Stepping in the bedroom you shook your head. He was basically making you a maid, a free maid. You wondered if he’d have you clean his house then send you back home. Just as you were putting the new sheet on the bed, you heard Stephen cry out from within the bathroom.
“Ah!” he shouted and you frowned.
“Stephen?” you called, craning your head around before running into the bathroom. He had his hand on his neck. “Let me see,” you evenly commanded. “Did you nick yourself?”
“No, this is my routine. I shout and hold my neck.” He gave you a pissed off look and you pressed your lips together. You didn’t say a word and merely coaxed him to show you through a soft glare.
Finally he pulled his hand away, it wasn’t too bad, but it was a long cut.
“What happened?” you inquired softly as you set to cleaning it up.
“Felt like running a razor over my neck.”
You sighed heavily.
He rolled his eyes, he could sense you were tiring of the sarcasm quickly. “My hands… Sometimes they jerk. I think my hand slipped or it twitched.”
All you did was gently nod. Without another word you grabbed his razor and began to shave him. He peered down at you but said nothing, keeping his remarks to himself. You slowly slid the razor along his neck, his jaw, his cheek, careful not to cut him again.
When you were done shaving him, you wet a cloth and wiped away the excess cream. He looked better…ish. His hair seemed far too unruly for a surgeon. You had somewhat pieced together that this wasn’t what Stephen normally looked like.
“So…” you started as you walked to his shower and turned on the water. It was an expansive, impressive setup. It reflected every penny of the Manhattan class and luxury. “You wanna tell me about the gorgeous redhead?” you asked as you stood behind him and started to pull off his robe.
“I don’t think we know each other well enough for that,” he explained evenly.
“What’s that? Talking about the woman or me undressing you?” you questioned with a teasing smile in the mirror.
“I would say both,” he said.
“Oh, come now. We’re both doctors.”
“Yes, well I’m not your patient.”
“Aren’t you? With the way I’m treating you and the way you’ve been treating me, i would think that you’re my patient and I’m your undergratified nurse.” You shot him a bitchy smile. “I’m happy to do this for you. Now, if you want to be an adult, I can undress you and then we can talk about your girlfriend.”
“She isn’t my girlfriend. Not any more.”
“So you were...together?” you wondered as you continued to undress him, and he helped you, moving this way or that.
“You could say that. We dated briefly. It was… I think a loneliness on both our parts. We’re friends now. She’s a good doctor. One of the few people I’ve ever been able to tolerate. Desperate times, you know…”
You nodded slightly, trying to take it in before ushering him into the shower. He got in and closed the glass door.
“I’ll be right out here if you need me.”
“I won’t.”
“Tell that to your knotted hair,” you quipped back with a smile as you stood right beside the door.
“Ha, ha,” he responded with an eye roll.
“So what happened between you two?” you asked loudly over the shower water.
“Nothing, that’s kind of the point of why we called it off.”
“You mean there was no big blow up? No dramatic reveal of an affair?”
As Stephen rinsed the shampoo out of his hair he said, “Sorry to burst your bubble, but no. Nothing like that. Just a… waste of time and effort.”
“So there was no...real romance there? No love?”
“No, nothing close but professional respect and friendliness. You know you seem awfully curious about my love life considering we barely know each other.”
“Oh, I find that going through someone's heart, their romances is a good way to learn about someone. That and their childhood.”
“Of course you would find that,” he noted with a bit of amusement.
When he was finally done, you grabbed a towel for him and made sure he didn’t slip coming out of the shower. You were surprised he didn’t put up a fuss, but he must’ve realized you weren’t giving up and that it was better to be safe than sorry.
He left shortly after you helped him dress and you still had no idea where he was headed. You took this time to become acquainted with the apartment; where he kept his cooking utensils, his towels, his bed linen, how he laid out his clothes… all of it. If you were going to be a maid and a nurse for him, at least temporarily, you wanted to do a good job.
You decided to give Charles a call and update him on the matter.
“Hello, love. How is the new mate going?” he asked, charm and wonder lacing in his voice.
You let out a sigh. “I thought you were tough, and I already loved you for ten years…”
“That bad?” he wondered in a solemn tone.
“Yes, unfortunately.”
“I’m sorry to hear that, darling. Does that mean you’re coming home?” he inquired, and you could hear the hope in his voice.
“No, not quite. He’s down, but he isn’t past help.”
“That’s good to hear, although I doubt anyone is past help in your care.”
“That’s sweet. Yeah, he’s a surgeon. Had an accident. Lost use of his hands and now he’s going on a monstrous pity party. And he doesn’t believe in soul mates. And he doesn’t think that anything is special between us since I already have you.”
“My, my, he is quite the nasty patient, isn’t he? I thought I was a tough cookie…”
“You were,” you reminded with a loaded tone. “That’s why I’m not sure how well this will work, but I’m willing to give it a go.”
“Where’s he now?”
“He’s gone. He wouldn’t say where. I’m just touring the apartment, getting my bearings.”
“So you plan on staying a while then?” he questioned, and in his tone you thought you heard...disappointment.
You hummed before answering, “I’ll be here however long it takes, Charles. I can’t turn my back on him. Even if we don’t know each other.”
“I know,” he assured, understanding in his voice. “Take care of him, and do it well, so you can come home to me.”
“I will,” you assured with a smile, but then another thought occurred to you before you heard keys in the door. “Oh, he’s coming back. I better go. I love you.”
“I love you. I’ll talk to you later.”
“Bye.”
And you hung up. That new idea swimming in your head. You and Charles hadn’t really discussed what would happen when you met Stephen. He was a soulmate after all, and if you two hit it off by some miracle, what would that mean for you two? You came here with the sole intent on healing this man, knowing he was in trouble… but then what? Were you really going to ignore another soulmate because you had one? There was a reason you were gifted two men.
“How was it?” you asked cheerfully.
“It was private that’s how it was, but if you insist on knowing, it was good. I’m going to go read. Would you care to make dinner?”
“I don’t mind at all. Thank you for asking nicely.”
He eyed you up and down for a moment before stealing away to what you assumed was his office. You decided to make chow mein and orange chicken. It was relatively quick, simple, and you were craving it.
As soon as it was done, you found Stephen and softly informed him dinner was ready. He immediately shut his book and joined you at the table. The two of you began eating in silence. It wasn’t exactly comfortable silence like when Charles and you were both absorbed in your work, but it wasn’t the most awkward silence you’d encountered either.
“So what do you plan on doing next?”
“I plan on getting my hands fixed next,” Stephen informed matter of factly as he took a bite of food.
You paused. “I realize that but… if that doesn’t happen, have you thought about your next step?”
He threw a glare your way. “I’m a surgeon. I always have been. It’s what I was born to be. It’s what I will be again. If you’re just going to naysay--”
You held up your hands to stop the attack. “This doesn’t have to be a fight,” you reminded gently. “I just wish you’d face the facts, you’re a man of science--”
He scoffed. “Facts? You’re sitting here telling me about facts.”
You frowned, unsure what he was referring to.
“Oh come on. Don’t sit there and buy into all this soulmate BS and tell me that I’m out of my mind for wanting nerve damage fixed.”
“And you don’t? Buy into the soulmate BS as you like to call it?”
“Does it look like I do?”
“No, but surely you know it’s real. I mean, I wrote on your arm for years, surely you had scars everywhere and wondered--”
“I didn’t wonder, I knew exactly where they came from.”
“But you didn’t ever become curious about who was writing them? Or the idea that you had a soulmate out there? None of that ever mattered to you?”
“Why should it? You said it yourself, I’m a man of science and facts--”
“Which means that something proven like soulmates should go right in with that,” you firmly assessed. “People all over the world have scarring on their arms in the forms of marks made by their soulmates, only for them to disappear when they meet and you just think that’s coincidence?”
“Of course not. I believe that part happens,” he stressed.
“Then what part don’t you believe?” you wondered. You were honestly confused. If he believed in the writing, the scarring, what did he not understand?
“I don’t believe that the universe, or God, or whatever mystical power bestows this really knows the best person for me, or anyone else. I mean, does anyone really even have one person that’s just perfect for them? Is that even possible? And if it is, are we really going to leave it up to some unknown power or being or whatever?”
“So you don’t think I’m perfect for you?” you assessed, trying to hide the disappointment in your tone.
“First of all, I don’t know you. So I don’t see how it’s possible either way right now. Secondly, how is anyone perfect for anyone? Besides, if you thought people were perfect for each other, then why do you have two of us, hmm? What is it your old mate isn’t giving you?”
“Did it ever occur to you that perhaps you both supply something crucial to my life? You keep using this word perfect as if it when you meet your soulmate it’s the most magical thing in the world and all issues are forgotten. It’s not. You meet your soulmate at the absolute worst time in their life. Soulmates mean you complete each other, nowhere does it say they’re perfect or even perfect for you. Everyone has flaws. Everyone will have issues. Soulmates still fight. It’s a way of finding the one person on this earth that will understand you the most, meet your needs without hesitation, and love you unconditionally.”
“But I don’t want to be told that. I don’t want to meet a woman and be told this is who I must love for the end of time. That’s so rigid. Why even bother with dating?”
“I’m surprised you find it rigid. If it was anything else I’d say you’d find it dangerously close to romance and god forbid we breach that subject,” you noted with a hint of irritation as you stared him down. “Do you just enjoy crushing out any thought of anything that isn’t cold hard facts? Must nothing be left to faith or imagination?”
“So far facts have saved lives and faith hasn’t done that. I think I’ll stick with the method I’ve chosen.”
You balled up your fist before gritting your teeth. "My other soulmate was a drug dependent paraplegic when I found him. He lost his job, hia family, his legs, and will to live. Unlike you and me, he knew who I was and still didn't want me around. He wanted to wallow in self pity just like you but guess what? I helped him. I got him a serum to help him walk again with the assistance of his friend. Now he is a professor at an esteemed college and he's looking into getting his old job back, because he loved it and he helped dozens of people. He is no longer drug dependent and you know what? It wasn't based on science. It was based on faith and love. He didn't want to waste the time we have together now that we finally met each other. So he worked with me. He wanted to make things right. He had faith that I would help him and I had faith he was going to help himself. So I'm sorry something turned you cynical beyond any proof to the contrary, but being soulmates is a lot more than just a Hallmark holiday. It’s real, with real struggles, and it’s a mix of faith, love and science.” You scooted back from the table and threw your napkin down.
You left the apartment, unsure if you’d return. Clearly Stephen didn’t want you to be there, clearly he didn’t believe this, so there was no point in trying to turn him. There was a fantastic man back home that really wanted you, and you wanted him. There wasn’t a lot to keep you hanging around.
----------------------------
The arrogance of that bastard. You fumed. Why wouldn’t he just let you help him? He was worse than Charles.
Charles…
That was it!
You made a mad dash for the phone before calling Hank.
“Y/N? Are you looking for Charles?” he asked, a bit confused.
“No, no I’m looking for you.”
Just then, a knock came at your hotel door.
“One second, Hank.” You pulled the phone down and went to the door. When you opened it, you were surprised to find Stephen standing there. “Stephen? What are you doing here?”
“You said there was a serum,” he said as if he were out of breath. “You helped someone make a serum for your other soulmate. You said it helped him walk, that he was paralyzed.”
“I know. I’m calling him now. I just thought of it. I don’t know how I was so blind or stupid.” You pulled the phone back up before letting Stephen in and closing the door.. “Hey, Hank, sorry. Okay, so Stephen here got into a bad car wreck, and his hands and nerves are severely damaged. Can you get us the first serum you’d made for Charles?” You put him on speaker so both of you could hear his answer.
“I can, but that is specific to Charles and his condition--”
“I don’t care,” Stephen suddenly said. “I’ll pay anything. Whatever we can do to fix my hands,” he stressed.
You were curious by what Hank meant. “Hank, what do you mean it’s specific to Charles? Nerve damage is nerve damage.”
“Not in this case. Charles rerouted his--”
“I don’t care,” Stephen interrupted. “Anything. I’m willing to try anything… please,” he begged softly.
Hank was quiet, but you could tell he was thinking.
“Hank, please?”
“Okay. I’ll be down in a few hours. Send me his height, weight, and allergies.”
“Thank you so much.”
You hung up and stared at Stephen. “Well, let’s get back to your place.”
He nodded at you and he headed back to wait for Hank after sending him the information he needed.
“Stephen, I… I’m so sorry I didn’t think about the serum before. I feel like such a fool. I wasn’t thinking. I guess I was so caught up in just… connecting to you that I completely spaced it.”
“Y/N, don’t apologize to me. You thought of it, that’s all that matters. If I wasn’t so busy being an ass, maybe you could’ve focused on healing me. That’s my fault, not yours.”
All you did was nod before he spoke again after some time.
“Do you think this will work?”
You leaned forward, holding his hand. “Hank is an excellent chemist and doctor. He has worked miracles. I fully trust him.”
He nodded. “Thank you… for giving me hope. I, uh, thought I didn’t have any anymore.” He smiled at you.
“Of course, Stephen. I’m so happy I can do this for you.”
Eventually, Hank showed up.
“Okay, I’ve got a serum. It’s a little different than Charles’s,” he explained as he walked in. “It does the same thing though. It targets the damaged hands. But, here’s the catch.”
Both you and Stephen waited.
“Well, just like Charles, it has to be administered more than once daily,” he informed. “Which means you’ll have to be very careful. You will have to schedule surgeries carefully and be very attentive. Because if you are in the middle of a surgery and the serum wears off, the issues in your hands will return and I’m guessing shaking hands during a surgery is the opposite of what you want.”
“Spot on, doctor,” he said with a smile. “Look, I’ve invested almost the last of my money in nearly every kind of experimental procedure. I’m willing to try anything. If this works, I’ll owe you my fortune.”
“Well, let’s see,” he said. “Give me your arm, please.”
Stephen put his arm on the table and rolled his sleeve up. Hank looked at his elbow, wiped the area with alcohol, got the needle ready, and injected him.
“Now what?” Stephen asked.
“Now, we wait. It usually takes a couple of minutes for it to kick in,” he explained.
“Right, and then we’ll see if--” Stephen’s eyes rolled back in his head before he moaned slightly and began falling out of his chair onto the floor. He started to convulse and your body felt cold all over as you stared on in horror.

| THE GUM CONUNDRUM | A Stashi One-shot | Fairy Tail Next Generation |
Ship: Storm Fullbuster x Nashi Dragneel
It was a normal, uneventful day in the magical town of Magnolia.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT'S OUT OF STOCK?!"
"SIR, YOUR CLOTHES!!"
Well, almost.
Storm huffed, exiting the grocery store (Why even call it grocery store if it didn't have the goddamn essentials?) just as Gale yelled "Pick the pace, prick! I have a book to get to!"
He rolled his eyes, "Gee, talk about priorities."
Gale sauntered forward, crimson eyes unimpressed. "Less talk, more walk."
The Demon-slayer frowned at him. "Go right ahead, I need to find another store for my damn gum!"
"Yeah no, Team Storm needs the goddamn leader to sign off the register or it's invalid," He shot him a dirty look, "Which one of you oafs decided on that rule again?"
"Hey, it's a good rule! Especially since the pyrofreak gets motion sick and takes like an hour to recover. Win-win!" Storm rubbed his hands evilly.
The archive mage deadpanned, "Right."
"Moodkill."
Storm scanned the street for any signs of that familiar blue vending machine but to no avail.
What the heck?! Wasn't it supposed to be an icon? Disrespect is what it was. Storm himself featured in their advert a few months ago and it sold quite a few million copies. (Nashi still glared at him whenever he brought that up. She'd received quite a few threats and demands to lay off the Ice Demon Slayer back then. Mira was thrilled. She however, was not.)
"Uh, Storm. You might want to get a look at this."
He waved a sheet of paper, his face a little too smug for the news to be good. The raven head squinted at him and proceeded to snatch it.
There, in bold black letters, was the title of his nightmare track.
FIORE GUM BANNED
"Fiore gum has now been officially banned after research suggested the carcinogen vinyl acetate was present in staggering amounts-"
Storm Fullbuster was a simple man, he had only 3 basic needs: Food, a roof over his head and Fiore gum (Bah, who needs clothes?) One pack per day, was that so hard a request?
"Well, considering the serious health violations here, it seems logical to ban it before it's released worldwide. Isn't that in like a month?"
He glared at the Archive mage, "Not helping, Gale."
"I wasn't exactly trying to," Storm flipped the bird at him for that, "But what exactly was it that you said before? Ah, priorities. Sweet, sweet irony."
Right now the ice mage had the urge to rip him a new one. Nothing would be sweeter. Ugh, Nashi was never going to let this go, was she? She'd smirk at him, bite that annoying little lip of hers, and say "Serves you right, Frostbite, for all the shit I went through. Cheers." And go celebrate while he was out there, maybe in prison-
"Dude, clothes."
"Fuck em, we have no time! We have to stock up on gum!" He jumped forth, causing an old lady passing by to shriek and swing her cane threateningly. Again, it was his Constitutional right to get the choice to wear (or not wear) whatever he wanted to! Talk about judgemental!
He could already feel the uncomfortable sweat on his brow. Damn withdrawal symptoms. He'd gone through this hell once before (When his mom decided to ground him the hard way for destroying a town) and was NOT going to go through that again. Nope.
"New mission: We find a pack of Fiore gum or die trying!" He pumped his fist in the air. "ALL ABOARD!"
"Oh bother," Gale grumbled.
...........
One rabid Chihuahua (those things were nasty, how the hell did people own them willingly?!) and an armada of Rune Knights later, the duo gave up.
"FINE! IF THE UNIVERSE WANTS TO PLAY DIRTY, I WILL NOT ENGAGE! NOPE! I'M GOING BACK!"
Gale huffed, "If only you were struck with this realisation 3 hours ago, I'd be at home. Content. Free. With no fear of a goddamn puppy pouncing at me from any corner." They collectively shuddered.
"And that kids, is how you cartwheel!" Nashi's giggle followed from in front of the guild quarters.
Typical, she'd be here having the time of her life while he suffered.
Okay, that was mean of him. It wasn't as if she truly had anything against him. He just loved messing with her. She was nice when she wanted to be.
"ETHAN! NOT THERE-"
Bang. Crash. Screech. The notorious triplet's head popped out of the trash pile near them, covered in grime. Nashi grimaced through her hands (God, her annoying nose was all scrunched up! Don't even start with her damn eyes!)
She sighed, pulling him out with one hand. "Your mom is gonna skin you alive, you know that, right?" The 7-year old shrugged in response and his relatively well-mannered brother Elijah facepalmed. How they were even related was beyond any of their understanding.
She ushered them in, and turned back to hoist herself on one of the railings upfront and swing her legs.
Oh, look at that, Gale left already.
He strode forth with a smirk that he knew she detested from her very being and tapped her shoulder, despite the fact that he knew she sniffed him a mile away.
She narrowed her eyes. "What?"
"Nothing." He smirked again.
She rolled her eyes and continued to- chew?
He raised an eyebrow, "Whatcha eating, dumbass?"
Which is when she proceeded to pop a bubble at his face. Oh no.
She grinned at him like the cat that got the cream, "Not that it's any of your business." Pop. "But it's Fiore gum."
3 hours. He could feel the sweat and his fingers twitched impatiently. "Oh."
There were two ways he could play this.
Way one. Ask the dragon nicely. She was usually extra generous with her friends. It's not like she even liked gum.
"Mind if I borrow a piece?"
She blinked. "Uh, I mean, sure."
He couldn't help but smile as she fiddled with her pockets taking out papers and wrappers of all shapes and sizes. Despite all their banter, and her one sided hatred, Storm knew he like-liked the Fire Dragonslayer the second she punched him in preschool for being 'stupid'.
And now?
With her hair set back, and her bangs framing loosely in that annoying way she liked because it made her look 'Nashi', and her cute *cough* annoying *cough* lip that she was nibbling on, and her chocolate brown eyes-
Okay, she just said something. Abort!! Mission!! Abort!!
"Yes?" he blinked. God, was he pathetic or what?
"I saidddd," she drawled, "I have only one piece left." She twirled it around her slender fingers. Damn seductress. "And I really do like this flavour, so-" Without a word of warning, she popped it in her mouth.
She popped it in her mouth.
She popped-
She popped-
SHE POPPED IT IN HER MOUTH?!
"Did you just eat it in front of me?" He gaped at her.
Her hazel eyes narrowed, "Uh, yes? Sorry bub."
Okay, Storm Fullbuster did not fight a possibly rabid Chihuahua, escape a bunch of Rune Knights and climb a wall just to be defeated this easily. This was another way the universe wanted him to prove his worth.
Oh, only for you Fiore gum.
Way two, here I come.
And then he kissed her.
..........
..........
..........
Okay, so he might have lied. Maybe he was kind of looking for a reason to kiss the pinkette too. And damnnnnnn, did he not regret it.
Papers rustled in the wind from when she'd dropped them in shock. He cradled her face tenderly, keeping his eyes open to admire her flushed face and half lidded eyes (And also to make sure he'd be ready when she decided to sucker punch him) and lightly sucked on her lower lip.
Oh fuck, she just moaned. He counted his blessings and maybe her freckles too as his tongue nudged her own and they fought for dominance. She tasted like cinnamon and apple and strawberry. (Was this how the forbidden fruit tasted like? If so, he'd dive headfirst into that pile of- was it apples? Not strawberries? Strawberries...)
Her hands were now gripping his forearms. He grinned into the kiss, aware of the effect he now had on the pinkette. Hopefully his. If she'd like.
Back!! To!! Mission!!
Right! He swiped the gum from her and broke the kiss, pausing for a few seconds as she struggled to catch her breath (Hoe!! He!! Finally!! Did!! That!!) He stroked her lip gently with his thumb, making her breath hitch. She still hadn't opened her eyes.
Time for the quick getaway. "OKAY! BUH-BYE BABE!" He kissed her forehead and rushed in the guildhall like a man possessed.
He actually did it! Fuck yes! Also Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!
Wait, why wasn't she chasing him?
He paused and turned to face the door. His guildmates stared at him curiously.
One second. Two.
"STORM FULLBUSTER, YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE!!" She bellowed out, and he winced, sending a prayer above as he ran, once again.

FAIRY TAIL NEXT GEN CHILDREN-NALU EDITION
DISCLAIMER:
1-I know there is now a cannon child for edo Nalu and edo Gruvia with names and everything. I also know that Gajeel and Levy have twins and Levy is currently pregnant in 100 Years Quest.  I love it and their names and everything about those precious babies-but I’ve had these ideas and characters and backstories growing and developing in my head for years so I’m being the stubborn Taurus that I am and sticking with it.
-Also please forgive any misspellings and grammar mistakes as I am dyslexic and my school failed us at teaching spelling and grammar. I did my best.
Hello my lovelies! I am back with the Fairy Tail post and starting with a bang!
I’m working on my next gen story and am determined to make it work this time... so I’m making very detailed profiles for my OC’s that are going to show up and it was so much fun I thought I’d share them with you!
Because of how unwieldly the document was getting I’m going to break it up by pairing staring with Nalu!!!
Tumblr media
God I love them...
RANDOM FACTS:
-After the less than stable childhoods the members of the guild had, when they started to have children, they decided to give them as normal a life as possible.
That means the following:
-Many of those who have kids choose to stop taking the longer and dangerous jobs-or at least don’t do nearly as many of them. This is so they can be there for their children and not reduce the risk of not coming home. That doesn’t mean there still aren’t adventures and that these dangerous missions don’t happen, but many of them are weary of the risk. Except for Natsu and Erza… they are always the exception.
-Naturally, the kids are members of the guild from the moment of their conception. However since they live much more stable lives and don’t need to work and take on jobs as children they don’t become official guilds until 13.
-Most of them start taking on summer jobs or small jobs during the school year with their parents starting then and as they get older-like with in a year or two-they start going on solo jobs.
-And yes I said school year because they make their children go to school like normal kids and get the education that most of them never got. (Please note if I mention anything in particular about school or schooling system it is going to be heavily based on the American school system as I went through that system and somehow came out the other side, so that’s what I’m familiar with)
-All of the children suffer from the same illness the Ultear did as child to varying degrees of severity because of how strong their parents. I say varying degrees of severity because some were able to handle it better than others, but none actually died (obviously
 THE DRAGNEELS: (NATSU X LUCY)
Tumblr media
 Lila Dragneel:
Birthday: January 17th, 797
Magic type: Fifth Generation Fire Dragon Slayer; a dragon slayer who was taught and trained by first or second generation dragon slayers
Appearance:
-Height: 5’4 (about the same as Lucy)
-Hair color: Strawberry blonde-or more specifically Lucy’s blonde mixed with Natus’s pink
-Eyes: Exact carbon copy of Natsu’s-large and black.
-Has Natsu’s smile and more of athletic build but she is still uh… gifted
Tumblr media
 -Otherwise is Lucy’s clone
IMPORTANT FACTS:
-She got the name the name Lila because it’s close to Layla, and for whatever reason I like to think Layla would have liked Lilacs so it’s from the flower too.
-She fell victim to the same illness Ultear did. Because she’s been so strong from the beginning, she handled it relatively smoothly.
-She’s known for her physical strength
 Personality:
-Warm and bubbly
-A little whiny
-Loyal to a fault
-Stubborn
-Blunt like her father
-Very childlike and innocent like her father
-Very intelligent like her mother, but can be naïve and dense like Natsu
-She loves books and reading like her mother but is no writer.
-Unlike her father she is not the type to go out and seek fights… However… as Marie from the Aristicats said;
Tumblr media
-She was always a good student-particularly excelling in Literature and languages and anything physical (AKA she dominates PE and dodge ball is terrifying with her)
-Though not one to start a fight she does have a tempter and has gotten a number of detentions and at least one suspension for her reckless and destructive tendencies.
-Though if you ask her it’s never her fault because someone kept bugging her until she snapped and they deserved it.
Relationships:
-Extremely close with her mother
-Super close with her father and just seems to click with him more than Lucy. She’s a bit of daddy’s girl and will proudly admit it.
-Also close with her brother. They get along but he more than anyone else can push her buttons. They can fight and because they are Natus’s children it gets physical fast. But they’re still close and love each other.
-Her best friends include: Hazel Redfox and Eliza Fullbuster.
-And Happy. Always Happy
Tumblr media
-She tried to be friends with the older and therefore seemingly cooler Aurora Dryer but stopped said friendship after a nasty incident with Aurora and little Eliza.
-Her closest friend is Nick Fullbuster.
-They have somewhat of banter like Natsu and Gray in the sense they’re competitive with each other
An example of a banter:
“Spicy pink head!”
“Ice fairy princess!”
“Destructor!”
“Stripper!”
“Whiny pants!!”
“Pretty Boy!”
“Oh so you think I’m pretty huh?”
“SHUT UP!!”
It’s all-in good fun though.
-It’s also obvious that especially as they get older there is a HEAVY amount of romantic/sexual tension in this banter.
-Everyone but Lila is aware of this. It doesn’t become clear to her until it more less it’s her in the face.
Jude Ingeel Drangeel- Nickname Iggy
   Birthday: September 3rd, 802
Magic type: Celestial Magic.
Appearance:
-Height-5’7 (same height as Natsu)
-Hair: Spikey like his Natsu’s but blonde like Lucy’s
-Eyes: Natsu’s Eye Shape and Lucy’s color
-Same build as his father
-More or less a clone of his father with a few differences
-IMPORTANT FACTS
-His name is Jude Ingeel because both Natsu and Lucy agreed that Ingeel Drangeel was a little too much.
-He’s named after both grandfathers, because even though Jude Heartfillia was an ass hat to Lucy they left each other on a positive note and I like to think had she been able to she would have reconciled with him.
-He got the nick name Iggy because his sister thought Jude was stupid and boring and just started calling him Iggy and it stuck.
-Also known for his physical strength
-Also got the same illness Ultear had and like his sister got through it with relative ease
Personality:
-Loud
-Boisterous
-Loyal to a fault
-Protective to a fault
-Scary energetic
-Extremely warm and kind
-Stubborn
-Blunt
-Loves reading and writes like his mother.
-More willing to start a fight than sister, not as bad as his father. He knows there’s a time and place… most of the time
-Most of the fights he starts are with his older sister and Eliza (the later being with words)
-Extremely intelligent and not as dense and naïve as his father or sister.
-He only did okay in school because he was bored most of the time and just didn’t really try... he was also a familiar face at detention.
-He excelled at anything physical (again dodge ball is terrifying with this kid), anything involving writing and oddly music. No one knows where on earth he got it from.
Relationships
-He considers everyone in Fairy Tail his friend
-Very close with his mother, has been called a mama’s boy on occasion but swears he’s not
( *cough cough* he is  *cough cough*)
-Considers his father one his best friends
-Close with his sister but he does enjoy pushing her button a little too much which causes a lot of arguments that more than not escalate into physical fights.
-He also likes just tossing her over his shoulder to piss her off and because he can.
-He’s friends with Nick Fullbuster and Simon Scarlet by association but… they’re more like the annoying older brother’s he never asked for.
-His best friend in the whole world (besides his father and Happy) is Eliza… though their relationships can take on more of the trappings of the rivalry of their parents. It doesn’t turn physical because he knows better and doesn’t want to turn into a human popsicle, but it’s a little more heated than Nick and Lila.
-Everything jokes they’re going to end up together like they’re older siblings and to that Iggy said;
“Listen I love Eliza, she’s like my sister. Heck I like her more than my sister sometimes! But I would never, ever, ever never ever ever ever ever… EVER date her.”
-He then proceeded to get blasted into oblivion by a jet of water
-He does however have a bit of a crush on Rose Scarlet.
And there you have it! Hope you like it! Next up is my personal favorite and OTP-Gruvia!!
