Silent Smoker
John Price x You
nay's missing john price, so here's some fluff (?) anyone here comforted by smoking/someone else smoking? i'm not :/ - icl the smell is so repulsive to me, but i'm on my hands and knees for anything price does-
John knew you didn't like when he smoked. So, he avoided smoking.
Around you, that is.
He still frequently pulled out his cigars, lit them, and smoked them at the base, but when he came home he made sure to kiss your lips with his strawberry flavoured gum in his mouth, aware of your dislike it.
You hug him tightly, heart full of content now that your man's home, but you can't help but notice the slight scent of nicotine and whiskey coating his frame when you press up against him.
But you ignore it, you're both so tired, you from your regular 9-5 job, and Price, as a well-respected captain.
Price was aware you didn't like smoking. It reminded you of your neglectful parents, who you'd find preferred smoking over cuddling with their child. Or you're ex partners who'd just be smoking the day away as you struggled your way through university life.
So it came to his surprise when he found his half-used cigars lying around, on the bathroom sink, the ash tray, the balcony.
He knew the culprit would be you, I mean unless someone decided to break into your home, steal absolutely nothing, smoke his cigars, then leave, but he was confused on why and when you started.
Were you stressed? Were you bored? Were you curious?
Questions circulated John's head as he entered your bedroom after one busy day, 11 p.m. rolling by quickly.
"Love," he pressed his chaste kiss against your forehead before climbing into your bed, smile pressed against your head as your cuddle against his chest.
"John..." you mumble.
Yeah, you're the culprit. He can recognise that post-cigar smell from anywhere once your breath wafted towards his direction.
He pauses for a second, and sits up, causing you to look up at him, too tired to move. You tilt your head at him in confusion, and he swears his heart melts a bit.
"Sweetheart, you know you can talk to me about anything right?"
Your face bares a confused expression.
"The cigars-" he starts.
"Are you mad?" His heart breaks a little at your question.
"No! Of course not! I'm- I'm just a little confused. You always mentioned how you hated when I smoked, but you're doing it too- and that's okay!" he rambles, "But are you okay, I know we haven't talked much, we're both busy and stressed, and if there's anything I can do, I'd appreciate you telling me, I wan' to supp-"
You muffle his words with a kiss, smiling against his lips.
Oh John.
He sighs against you, sleep evading his eyes.
"Just a big stressed, no biggie, not a consistent thing." You mutter, pulling him back to laying next to you.
He wraps his arms against you, gently stroking your head, "You know you can always talk to me..." he mumbled against your forehead.
You smile at his kind words. Even when he's going through the most, he never fails to be by your side.
"I know, love, I know."
You both drift into a well deserved sleep, wrapped with the warmth of John's arms, and the faint scent of his cigars lingering around, knowing that this was a conversation for tomorrow.
JOHN COME HOME THE KIDS MISS YOU.

Relaxation and entertainment( Robin x f!child!reader x Franky)
A/N okay anon im gonna confess, I ‘ve had this ready for a week… maybe more. I just was so ashamed cause I thought it was really bad so I just kind buried under other works but you deserve something even if it’s not the best.
Reader here is replaced by Dokucha as a placeholder which means reader in japanese

Robin sat in her usual spot, on the deck of the Thousand Sunny. Sitting at one of the tables and enjoyed one of the rare peaceful moments they were able to have as she read one of her books.
In her lap sat the youngest of the crew, a darling little girl who was taken in by the crew; she had grown particularly fond of two of the members; however, the one she was currently cuddling with and a certain Cola-loving Cyborg
“Here you go, Robin-chan,” Sanji said, dropping down a drink in front of the archeologist, his usual love-sick look adorning his features
“Thank you, Sanji,” Robin replied, smiling at the blond and putting her book down
“Anything for you, Robin-chan,” he exclaimed, heart filling his eyes until he glanced down at the child in her lap
“Here you go, Dokucha,” he said, placing a similar looking drink in front of her
She beams quickly, grabbing the drink
“Thank you, Sanji-nii!”
“You’re welcome,” Sanji replies, ruffling their hair and waving the pair goodbye as he entered the kitchen once again
“It’s yummy, Robin-nee!”
“I’m glad it’s to your liking,” she says, smiling, her face softening as she looks down at the young child
“I love you, Robin-nee!”
Robin laughs and ruffles her hair gently
“Love you too,” she replies hugging her softly
Tumblr media
“Franky-nii!”
Yeahhhhhh?
“Im boreeed”
“Uh oh, sounds like a big job for the SUPERRR Franky!“ he said, turning with them with his usual grin
“So whatcha bored about?”
She giggles at that and shrugs
“Everyone’s busy.”
“Well, if no one is around to entertain you, then it looks like it's up to me! You want to hang out and have some fun?”
“Yeaaah”
“Awesome! I've got a good idea... I know a new cola shop that has the good stuff; we could start there?”
“Wah, really?!”
“Yeah! It just opened, and they have all kinds of cola! They say they have one that's so good it makes your skin feel tingly; wanna try it?”
“Yeah!!”
“SUPERRRR” he exclaimed, throwing the small girl onto his shoulders and making his way out of the ship
“Superrrr,” she parrots, strings of laughs escaping her as she tightened her hold on his neck exited for the bubbly drink.
Tumblr media
My first time trying this Format… what do you think? Nay or yay? I could also just write a transition between the two rather than dividing them, I just din’t have any idea how to join them so I wrote two different scenes, originally I had them separated by a divider/timelapse but I thought ‘Might as well try this’

Hey! Hey! Hey! I just really wanted to say that your trigun writing is soooo good! Especially that of Knives. So could I get Nai and Vash with a plant reader (platonic). The reader is the first independent (they even came before Tesla) and are around 580 years old. So they've seen alot of stuff. They absolutely love humanity but aren't against it if they have to be killed (but only with a good reason). They love their siblings (Knives and Vash) and cares for them. They are just an extremely loving older sibling. I just want these two boys to get the love they deserve. So how about an AU where the ship still cashed but instead of Nai being the cause, it was something normal, like the thrusters failing or something. So Nai and Vash are still on good terms and Nai isn't on his killing stuff. So the boys wander around the desert and meet the reader. They take them in and raise them. I just want a oneshot of little Nai and Vash raised normally and among humans. Bonus points if the reader works at a brothel as a dancer (but if you're not comfortable that's ok too), so Nai and Vash get raised by their older sibling and the female workers there. Just fluffly stuff with the little boys. I hope this is ok. Have a nice day/night!
Ps: If this ask landed in your ask box please give a sign that it did bc sometimes tumblr doesn't send my ask. I hope I'm not too annoying I just wanna make sure. Thank you!
I really like the concept of this, I also really like the idea that Knives might react differently to being raised by a plant instead of a human. Writing this almost made me cry, I'm not even joking I'm on the verge of tears rn.
Wanderers Of the Sands --- Vash & Knives
SUMMARY: After the crash you find Vash and Knives wandering the desert alone and take them in as your own.
Tumblr media
The desert sand is relentless against the twins skin as they wander throughout the barren landscape, ever since the crash they haven't stopped walking. Alone by themselves out here, they stumble upon a lone figure out in the sands. At the first sign of life, Vash grabs his brother's hand and begins to chase after it, knives fights against him. "We don't know who we can trust!" He cries.
His brother ignores him and rushes forward, there in the distance, shielded from the winds by a cloak, is you. Hearing the shouts of a child you turn around, Vash can see the layer of clothing that each him and his brother wear, the designs of a plant wrapping all around.
"Hey!" He shouts. His hand slips from his brothers and he keeps running, scared of his brother being hurt Knives runs after him again. As Vash reaches your side, he collides with you in a hug, his head pressed against your stomach. "Thank goodness we finally found somebody."
You were surprised by how eager he was to latch onto you, yet you welcomed him happily. Behind him, his brother cautiously stepped up to you. "You're a plant too?" He glared at you wearily. With a hand on the top of Vash's head you smiled at his brother.
"I am. It looks like you are too. What are your names?"
Vash steps back to his brother's side. "I'm Vash, this is my brother Naï." His brother suddenly elbows him. "Knives, it's Knives." He stares at you intensely, Vash rubs his side in pain.
You offer a hand to them. "Come with me. I know a place where we can stay."
Vash was eager to follow you while Knives stayed at his brother's back, his eyes never leaving your figure. He didn't trust you in the slightest and even debated hurting you a few times just to keep Vash safe. Between the two, you were overjoyed to have another independent by your side, even more so to raise them as your own. Taking them home was no easy task, people have always been weary of you but most of them trusted you, it would be hard to make these two trustworthy as well.
Being the only face they knew, both of them clung to your side for the first few days. Vash was the first to venture off and meet others, Knives only followed to keep him out of trouble, he never left Vash's side. It only took a few weeks before everyone was absolutely in love with the twins. You honestly thought that at the end of the day they might stay with someone else, but every night the two of them would come crawling into bed on either side of you.
It would be pitch black and then the bedroom door would open. A smile would curl at your lips as you feel the bed dip on either side of you. Very quickly the twins would reach your sides and you would open your arms to both of them.
"You boys came home late tonight, huh?" You would jab. They would quickly settle in, tossing their arms over your stomach and resting their heads on your chest.
"Did we wake you?" Naï would ask. You would chuckle and shake your head. "No, of course not. I was waiting for you. I honestly thought you wouldn't come home."
You feel Vash lift his head from your chest. "Why wouldn't we?" In the dark you rest your hand on the back of his head. "Because, there's more to life than clinging to me at the end of the day." You softly pull Vash's head back to your chest. "One day, you won't have to come home anymore." The idea of them being able to go out and do their own thing one day makes your heart swell with hope, at the same time your chest squeezes and tears begin to fill your eyes.
"We'll always come back." Naï pipes up from your other side, his hand clinging to your shirt. You sniffle sharply and lift your other hand to his head as well. "You'll change your mind someday."
The two fought back with you about it, they swore they would never leave and that they would stay with you forever. Deep inside you knew the day would come eventually so you strapped yourself down and cried all the tears you had to cry while they slept in your embrace. Even as much as you wanted to stay here forever, time moved on, and in just a couple of months the boys were almost as tall as you.
They had chores that they would run for people around town and babysit the children for others while they were busy. Even still, at the end of the day they would curl up at your side and a quiet discussion would follow. Naï was more independent than his brother yet he still slept by your side without any complaints. This was surprising to hear, especially with how he was with Rem. Since they had grown, the rest of them had too.
Naï had unlocked his gate, he could create blades from his skin while Vash had yet to unlock his, you nurtured them both in their differences. It didn't matter to you if one could do something but the other couldn't it was all the same to you.
In only a few months, the boys were parting ways with you. They stood at the entrance to town looking at you with fondness in their eyes. Tears began to sting your own eyes as you opened your arms and pulled them both into a hug.
"I'm going to miss you both so much." You cried. When you pulled away they both smiled sadly at you. "You should come with us." Naï offered. You smiled but shook your head.
"Not yet. This town needs me for a little longer. I'll be sure to join you then." Naï nodded. Leaning forward he presses a small kiss to your cheek and looks back at his brother. They exchanged glances before Naï moves to walk towards his Thomas.
Looking up at Vash, you grabbed his hand. "I have a present for you." You reached back into your small bag and pulled out a hefty pistol. It was the one you were given before you descended upon this planet, the very one you taught Vash how to shoot with. Placing it in his hand, you smile. "This is so you may protect yourself and your brother. I'm counting on you to use it wisely."
"Thank you." He envelopes you in another hug, tears slipping down his face. "We'll see you again right?" He pulls away, a hand firm on your shoulder.
"Once I'm done. Yes." Grabbing his hand, you squeeze. "I'll come find you and Naï, together we can go wherever the sands might lead us. It'll just be us, together as it's always been."
You sobbed for hours after they left, everyone across the town could feel your pain and empathize. They each banded together to get you back on your feet before you finished your business in the town. The time came for you to find your family. There, surrounded by all the people who brought you in and helped you out when you needed it most, you stood satisfied with yourself. You finally returned the favor.
Enveloped by a beautiful white light, two wing-like structures spread from your back. One was like a blade, sharp and shiny in the sun. Intertwined like the roots of a tree, the other was dark with blue spots all about. You said your final goodbye to the people before you ascended into the sky. For seven days and seven nights you traversed the desert searching for two you longed to see. It was finally on the eighth night you spotted them below.
Tears blot your vision as you descend to the ground at their side, both were asleep when they heard you land. "Vash! Naï!" They awoke with a start, tackled into a hug by you. Immediately recognizing you, Vash called out your name engulfing you in a hug. "You came!"
Upon seeing you, Naï froze. "Y... you're here." He stared in disbelief before he burst into tears, hiding his face away in your shoulder. You held them both tight, crying silently between them before you pulled back. You rest a hand on either of their cheeks, a smile tugging at your lips.
"I told you I'd find you."

Episode Two: The Running Man
It's odd how little gets said about this ep, considering it's the most direct homage the earlier anime adaptation - but maybe that might be why? Since, as I said, this was my entry into the story, to me it felt out of place. It seemed like it was doing all it could to distract from how the previous ep concluded.
With hindsight, I think that's the idea.
Tumblr media
The opening with the radio! I'm so weirdly fond of it. Yeah it's a flashback, but it shows Vash in a private moment without his mask; a glimpse of his secrets. He's not wearing his coat, so you get a look at how broad his shoulders are; he's also handling the tools to maintain his gun skilfully for someone who claims he's not a fighter. As he's contemplating the crash - he was there, obviously, and he has the photo of him, Rem and Nai still - the radio host says without the Plants, our ancestors would have died out long ago. How long ago? Long enough that Vash likely shouldn't still look such a gosh darn pretty boy? Yet it slips by.
(I do not understand the complaints that Stampede had no mystery.)
This is the episode where he's most committed to the bit of being cute but sort of hapless and silly, too, so the contrast is dramatic. I don't think he was actually expecting Meryl and Roberto to clear his name all at once, but I do think he was hoping, I don't know, maybe they'd believe him from the first. But nothing's ever that easy for my boy. I gotta say, Vash, optimism has its limits. Your story is that you're being framed by your previously unknown identical twin brother. You know it's true, I know it's true, but you might have had an easier time with some, I don't know… evidence? It's not surprising the reporters are sceptical.
Tumblr media
Oh god, I'm so sorry, do you want a hug or -
(By the way, this means Knives told everyone it wasn't him, it was a one-armed man.)
He's being melodramatic, but I suspect also more sincere than what comes across - which is the whole reason he exaggerates, of course. (What? No, I'm not talking from experience. I have never, ever done this. Never ever in A MILLION YEARS have I exaggerated to obfuscate my sincerity.) The angle changes to show his face, and it's pretty clear how genuinely exhausted and upset even the thought of Knives makes him. Though it is still pretty funny that Meryl just isn't having it.
Also funny: Meryl versus the Worms, round one. Worms 1, Meryl 0.
Tumblr media
Roberto greeting Tonis is really cute. He's a grump, but he's never an asshole to kids.
Ahhhh Tonis gives Vash his bugs and Vash pats his head and then he moves to take his hand away Tonis grabs it so he'll keep doing it and then when Rosa tells Tonis to leave Vash look dismayed and waves goodbye and it is so cute and IT IS SO SAD.
Because Rosa loves her son, wants him healthy and happy and safe, wants him shielded from the violence of the world and from decisions like pulling a gun on the hero of your town who's been nothing but good to you, better than you deserve - and yet we saw Rosa come to the decision that she would do this last episode. Right about... here. See the way she moves from standing in front of him, almost protectively, to beside him, clearing the way? By the look on her face, she doesn't want to. Vash proved himself yet again afterwards, saved the town without hesitation the moment it was endangered at great risk to himself. He's a good man, a friend, someone she trusts. But it's not him Rosa's thinking of now. It's not even the town. It's Tonis.
I have to say, Roberto doesn't look shocked or concerned. He just wearily sets down his mug and raises his hands, expression unchanged. Meanwhile Meryl's turned into a cartoon.
Tumblr media
Vash understands. He didn't fight back against the MPs. He didn't instigate the duel. It's because of him that this is necessary. That just doesn't mean he's going to make it easy for them.
Tumblr media
Ah, that old Stampede special: the undignified leg-spread landing.
Man the English dub is good, but it's this episode I started to realise how good. It's incredibly funny. "The furious fists of the Nebraska Family challenge you to a duel!" "Felt the fury right there!" "Money! Come back!" "I hope you like pancakes, because you're going to become one!"
There's one translation I'm not sold on, though, and it's Nebraska declaring "Power is justice! Power is truth!" I had the same problem in Persona 5 Royal when I played it and the characters kept going on about how they'll "prove our justice". It sounds so awkward.
From what I can tell, the word they're using translates more clearly to "moral rightness" or "righteousness", and the score title for Stampede renders what Nebraska says better: might is right. He's advocating Social Darwinism, basically. It's the natural order of the world: the strong deserve to flourish, the weak deserve to perish.
Nebraska: I hate cowards like you! This whole planet is fighting for survival! Anyone who runs is bound to die like a sorry loser! But you, Stampede! How dare you?! / You coward! I despise waste-of-life cream puffs like you! You have to fight tooth and nail to survive in this world! If those who can't hack it run away and die like chickens, then so be it! But you? I expected more, Stampede!
Vash: You might be right that I'm too timid. But is that such a terrible thing? Is fighting everything head-on so important? Even if it gets someone killed? / Okay, I may not be the bravest, but what's so terrible about being a little timid? Is fighting head-on always right? It risks lives, and for what?
Nebraska: Weapons… are made for fighting! Do you get it now?! There's no future for those who don't fight! / I might as well, huh? It's what the damn thing's made for! That'll show ya! Any snivelling slug too scared to fight must die!
Vash: Come on, can you back off? I really don't want to fight anyone. / Can you guys cool it for a second? I'm really not in the mood for violence.
Nebraska: That's the attitude that pisses me off! / When the world ends, will it ask if you're in the mood?
It's kinda funny that Nebraska keeps going on about it, though, because he also keeps demanding accommodation for his son's weakness. If he was really committed he'd rely only on himself instead of endangering Gofsef. And yet oddly enough, it's the hypocrisy which saves him, because it's how Rosa realises how much they have in common. He loves Gofsef, just like she loves Tonis, and Vash forgives them both.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Enjoy the subtle gag of Meryl mirroring her "parents'" expressions, BTW.
Tumblr media
Nabraska judging the townspeople for drinking before 5:00PM as if he didn't just destroy half the place trying to steal their only power source.
Tumblr media
Gofsef being creeped out by Tonis's Worm buddies.
Tumblr media
And Roberto visibly tuning out as Meryl tells him off.
Tumblr media
I think the reason this feels like it's all happening so fast is because this is the place where an episode of the older adaptation would end, leaving some implied time to pass before the next crisis. But this isn't twenty-six self-contained episodes, it's twelve instalments of one story. The running man must continue to run, because it was never humans he was running from.
Tumblr media
And I didn't realise this until now, but the drone in Vash's room? It's looking for him, or his things. It doesn't find either.
Tumblr media
When it doesn't...
Tumblr media
E.G. launches his assault, though the drones had been patrolling since the previous night. Vash was about to leave when he heard the scream from the diner and rushed back to help. And so he stayed long enough for E.G.'s master to arrive in person.
Whatever happened in Jeneora Rock, it seems it was necessary for Vash to witness it, so E.G. had instructions to keep him in place.
Tumblr media
So E.G.'s cyborg enhancements look like a bear trap.
Of course.

Millions Knives x GN Reader
Synopsis: the two of you have a deep conversation about trying to open up
Warnings: none? sort of emotional
A/N: this isn’t crazy long, i wrote it in a hour for someone’s birthday LMAO
Tumblr media
─── · 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
"We really don't have to if you're not comfortable."
Nai heaved a deep sigh, leaning back on his forearms to look at the sky. You were next to him, knees curled up into your chest as you gripped them close; it was a chilly night. Seated on the central tower's ledge in July, you could see the entire city from down below. You glanced over at him, seeing how emotionless his expression was. He wasn't one to let his guard down, much less discuss how he felt to others. He had taught himself long ago that any emotions had to be stripped away to reach his idea of paradise, and it has stuck with him ever since. You knew that, which made this situation even more uncomfortable.
The idea of vulnerability was a foreign concept to both of you in his defense. You were never taught how to be with someone else, and he placed his trust in others and had it forcibly ripped apart. If anything, the fact that he had asked you to "talk" was an enigma in itself. You weren't even sure what he wanted to discuss.
"How does one forgive themselves?"
Startled by his sudden speaking, you turned towards him curiously. He was looking at you with expressionless eyes, but if you looked closely, you could see his eyebrows furrowed slightly. It took you a few moments, but then you responded. "It starts with not being afraid to feel," Already, you could see his defenses rising, and you sputtered, trying to save the situation. "That sounds like a tall order, but let me explain." His shoulders relaxed, which made you sigh with relief.
"Everyone goes through their own struggles, but almost all of the solutions can be boiled down to one fact: if you try to push it all down, you'll never be able to fully cope. To forgive yourself is to heal; you can't expect to do that if you don't acknowledge how it truly affected you. What you went through... it's a lot more traumatic than others. So what I'm saying might not be helpful, but I will say this. This time, you're not alone," His expression hardened at the notion, but you pushed forward, trying your best not to falter in your point. "You don't have to place your complete trust in me, but I just want you to know that some people want to care about you, and I'm one of them. We can learn how to be vulnerable together."
You scooted yourself closer to him, easing the space between you two. With a deep breath, you took his hand and were surprised that he didn't immediately try to pull away. You looked him right in the eyes as you brushed your thumb over his knuckles, trying to make your words sound as sincere as possible. "They really hurt you, Nai. And I'm so sorry. If I could take that burden off your shoulders and save you from that heartbreak, I would do it instantly," His gaze softened as he looked into yours, and you felt a tug at your heart. You'd never seen him so at ease; others saw him as a cold-blooded monster, and sure, killing people isn't a good thing. But that's not all there was to him, and in this moment, you could see that clearer than ever. "I wasn't there then, but I am now. You deserve better than how you were treated back then. For so many years, you've been fighting alone. Let me help you."
Without a second thought, you hugged him as tightly as you could. You poured all of your sentiments and affection into it, trying to tell him silently that he was cherished, that he didn't have to keep wandering this path to try and bring himself peace. He shuddered, and you knew he was crying. To feel like this must've been so foreign to him. Nai spent his entire life fighting against this society that had had no problem mercilessly killing his brethren. And here he was, being so vulnerable and human with a human. It hurt you more than words could ever describe. His hands grazed up your back to cling onto your shirt as he tucked his head into the crook of your neck. A shaky exhale and then complete stillness. There were no words exchanged. At that moment, it was just the two of you under the stars, embracing each other and trying to explore this new feeling of defenselessness. It was a chilly night. But for the first time in a long time, Nai finally felt warm.

As the god of war, people would normally expect for Týr to be violent and a mighty fighter at first, right?
Nope, not the same case with good ol' Týr. He may be an Aesir god, but this man right here? Wouldn't wish death upon anyone.
He made an oath to never brandish his spear once again, because why do that when he's got you??
You two had met during one of his travels and had soon grown to be friends, and eventually more than just friends.
Ever since you've known Týr, he was a diplomat, a pacifist and someone who sought out justice for those who've been wronged.
Meanwhile, you had the heart of a warrior and what a brilliant one you were. Not only were you powerful and strong during combat but you were also graceful, not thinking with just your muscles but your mind aswell.
You rescued Týr when you once saw him being attacked by a full group of Raiders, which ended up with half of them killed by you and the rest running away, screaming the most vulgar words at you.
While the gruesome sight wasn't one Týr had always enjoyed, he was impressed and even more thankful that you fought off the attackers.
Soon after that, you always somehow found yourself rescuing Týr when he was in need of help during his travels. The funny part of this is that you were never aware that he was around and just bumped into him constantly.
After a few more sessions of what was essentially practice to you, you now begun to travel around with Týr.
He was polite, patient and had always an aura that calmed you down. He always knew how to make you feel better, you couldn't appreciate him more for that.
While travelling, you both found yourselves in a fight which ended up with a close call. You were severely injuired but you were both safe, the bleeding didn't stop because of that though, unfortunately.
You ended up passing out due to the blood loss and then awoke hours later in the small shelter you and Týr had built togheter for whenever you were out travelling.
You didn't actually open your eyes as the only thing that made you realize you were actually conscious was the fact you heard the god's voice.
He was quiet, his voice soft and you could hear the concern in it.
He mumbled out apologies for not being able to protect you, to have done anything to prevent you from getting harmed.
And you were certain that after a long pause, he said "I love you" .
"Of course you love me, dumbass." Was your response. Týr was startled by the fact you were awake and had heard him.
When you opened your eyes, his face was as red as an apple. It was quite cute.
And as you nay have guessed, you both ended up confessing to eachother.
The night was full of hugging, kisses and some well-deserved rest.
As the two of you sat by the fire, his arms gently wrapped around you, you glanced over at your sword across the room.
You usually stood awake in secret to make sure Týr would be safe, even if always told you there was no need to.
And for once, you listened to him and closed your eyes, falling asleep in the embrace of your beloved.

Okokokok um god okay so okay okay
- MILLIE REFERENCE OH THANK GOD good we need her to be the sunshine for the next season bc oh my god Vash
- sPeaking OF OH GOD VASH/ERIKS BESTIE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
- related but holy shit his fucking wings. I - holy shit his wing. It’s so perfect his and Nai’s duality. His white hair and suit and his lacking of hope, his design being an outright statement of a rejection of humanity. White as an absence of life. Whereas Vash’s messy wing, outfit and maternal shaped titan are all black. Black is the summation of every colour, every pain, every loss, every love, of everything that is Vash. Black as an abundance of life. And there is no touch of either colour in either of them. No black, no white, no balance.
- a L S O NAI??!?? UMM NO???? NO YOU DONT GET TO DIE STARING INTO YOUR BROTHERS EYES
- Meryl god you’re so perfect never change your perfect pls lemme give you a kiss you deserve it
- WOLFWOOD where the FUCKare you your husband needs you get your stupid ass back there and give tongari a hug
- “Half a century and you couldn’t come up with a better excuse.” I. I don’t - I want to cry I want to scream I want to hate you so fucking much because all of Vash’s suffering is because of you.
- I want to hate you so much Nai. But I can’t. I can’t hate you. You love your brother and Vash still loves you and all I can say is that I am so, so fucking sorry your happiness was ruined. I’m so sorry you became so scared of humanity that your only solution was to destroy it. I’m sorry Nai. You did so many awful things and because of your brother all I can see is the tragedy. All I can see is two brothers who love each other so much it destroys the world.
- okokokok that end scene though;
I’ll assume that this has something to do with Maximum which - despite it being awful for my health - I will attempt to read as much of it as I can before I am reduced into a blubbering mess of emotions and feathers. But also - and I cannot believe I am saying this - but god I hope Nai isn’t dead only so that I can hope for a better ending for these doomed twins.
I’m not gonna be okay for a while I already have a fix it fanfic planned

Me, an intellectual: Trimax Nai is in constant balance between seeking death and apathy, brought about by his own hubris. There is no future in which he will be able to completely heal or earn forgiveness, and he won't ask for it. There is no happy end, nor does he deserve it.
Also me: N-No Smooches?? 😦 Hugs??? Kisses???? No kisses??? Give him kisses!!!! 😭😭😭
logic overruled. nai has won trial by meowmeow and vash must surrender 5000 years worth of kissies, effective immediately

NO YOU SEE I'M STILL INSANE ABOUT THIS I WROTE A WHOLE ANALYSIS ON THIS BACK IN APRIL/MAY
This goes even doubly so now!! Obviously Ollie's parents aren't anywhere near as horrible to him as Belos was to Hunter, but it's about being denied affection in a time of need and forgetting that you deserve it and the oh my god. oh my god. oh my god. reaction you have when you finally recieve it. Ollie defies his parents and tells them hey, I don't want to hunt ghosts anymore, I stopped hunting ghosts ages ago because they can be good, actually, and I have proof, and even though he didn't say it in those words or in any way that made it seem like he was talking on nay level other than a hypothetical one, his parents still rejejcted him. Sure, they hugged him and said they were proud of him for how empathetic he's become, but not before shoving him away and scolding him on how wrong he is.
Ollie and Hunter both struggle with the idea that love is something that you earn. Even way back in Book Marks the Sprite, when Ollie still genuinely believed in ghost hunting, a good portion of his plot of the episode was about how he just wanted trust and respect. He put a special emphasis on not wanting to let Molly down in particular. He feels like he has to earn her trust and affection now that she knows he hunts ghosts, and that's before he even knew about Scratch! He thinks he's only worthy of affection and praise if he's doing something right. He especially makes emphasis on this while they're at the ice cream shop when he states that Molly's not like the others. Others see him and his family as a joke, but she doesn't.
Episodes following Some-Ollie like Frightmares and Unhaunting show him struggling with a similar problem. He knows he did something wrong, and therefore he thinks he's practically human garbage for it. He wants to get better, mind you, and actively tries, but he's so, so quick to jumping to conclusions that everyone must hate him and that there's nothing he can do about it that it usually takes Molly taking him by the hand to snap him out of that whirlwind of thoughts. He doesn't feel worthy of love unless he proves himself, so when he recieves it without actually doing anything spectactular to earn it, it catches him off-guard. Unhaunting is a really good example of this, because the thing that stops him from crying during his breakdown is Molly gently grabbing him by the shoulder. Sure, her words are what stops him from breaking down, but essentially....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is what makes his brain halt for a moment. He's recieving gentle affection when he thinks he doesn't deserve it. Ollie, like Hunter, thinks the only option for doing something wrong is isolation and punishment.
The Grand Gesture is such a fun episode for similar reasons. Molly's not really acting like herself, and she keeps setting him up for all of these grand gestures that either end up going disastorously wrong or just happen to fall in line with things she didn't know he didn't like. He sees her going over the top for him, he hears her calling their walk in the park romantic, he sees the blush on her face, and he...
thinks she hates him.
He has so much internalized self-hatred that it's hard for him to believe that Molly could possibly like him. Especially so soon after he opened himself up to his parents and got rejected. Probably especially after what happened at the school dance a few months(?) prior. It's his default to assume he's the one doing something wrong.
So when you take the boy who hates himself with everything he has, and you give him a girl who loves him with every fibre of her being, well....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's no wonder you're going to find similarities

Wayne Munson thoughts because I was thinking about him so much last night that I made myself sad.
Encouraged by @sparks363 @niceboyeds @pleasantlycrazyworld aaaand @stevesmunsons😭🙏🫂💕
This is MOSTLY Eddie & Wayne interactions, some Eddie x Reader, mentions of canon events (Eddie's death very very vaguely referenced because we all know I haven't seen episode nine), Hawkins gang talked about, there is me gushing over Uncle Wayne, Eddie thoughts, Uncle Wayne thoughts.... I just have a lot of words about Uncle Wayne right now and I'm letting everything spill out in a conscious stream; no editing or planning, just me going ham on my keyboard while wearing my Munson Motivation Outfit during a prolonged study break because I gotta get all this out before it drives me insane!!!!! Used every tag I could think of because I spoke of lots of different things here and wanted to cover all my bases.

Wayne Munson.
I'm gonna get into my actual thoughts on him in a minute but first, I gotta gush because this man is the bestest, sweetest, most wonderful dad in all of Hawkins, nay, in all of Indiana. He raised Eddie so beautifully and he instantly knew Eddie didn't do it and he didn't even question it and just defended Eddie time and time again. I just love Wayne Munson so much hhhhhh I wanna approach him all slow and careful and sort of awkwardly stand there because I'm not very good at verbalising my wants, and then edge a bit closer. Maybe he'd raise an arm, already knowing what I want, and I would let myself step in to the hug I would've been thinking about for hours before asking for it in my own way, or maybe I'd get swept up into a great big bear hug which would have me in tears in seconds or maybe he'd pat me on the top of the head and let his hand rest there on my crown for a few seconds and then hug me hhhhh I wouldn't care. I am very awkward in real life and i find it hard to verbalise or even admit when I want something, but I feel like Uncle Wayne would know me and give me the hugs when I try to ask for them.
Or maybe I wouldn't have to ask for them because he would just know. My Munson Motivation Outfit came out in the wash yesterday and I nearly cried hhhhh I gotta smash out that assignment today - and it's a big one - and I'm wearing it and still thinking of Uncle Wayne and Eddie and my heart is aching for the Munsons hhhhh I love Uncle Wayne and he's the bestest dad and he and his boy deserved so, so much better. Wearing 'their' clothes makes me feel so soft and warm and safe and cosy and genuinely helps me focus when I gotta study because it's like they're with me.🥺
Okay so, gushing isn't done but you get the gist and now, thoughts!!!!
I have no doubt that in time, Uncle Wayne would have adopted the rest of the Hawkins gang; he warmed up to Nancy relatively quickly once he realised that she was there to talk to him and offer him some comfort and he was the one who told her about Victor Creel (the way he instantly knew his boy didn't do it😭) so that she and Robin got the ball rolling on solving the issue at hand. They wouldn't have been able to do anything if Uncle Wayne hadn't been the one to mention Victor Creel. He's literally the reason they found the Upside Down like they did (without El to guide them, of course; if they had had El and her powers when they needed her, then season four likely would have gone very differently as far as Hawkins' events are concerned).
Based on the way he let his walls down just a little with Nancy within just five minutes, (don't ask me about That Scene with Dustin because I still haven't watched episode nine so while I'm aware of it. it's not gonna be discussed here but yeah, Dustin would be adopted too after Nancy) and it'd snowball into the whole gang being adopted by Uncle Wayne, whether they have family or not.
Everyone needs and deserves an Uncle Wayne; if you can't find one, be one. That's what he taught Eddie; he is to Eddie what Eddie became to Hellfire Club and Corroded Coffin. All those lost little sheepies out there need a sheperd to tend to the flock, and no two people understand that better than the Munsons do. Honouring them by taking inspiration from the lessons they taught us is something which they would truly appreciate and adore, and you'd score yourself a bear hug from the both of them.
If you're kind to people, if you're genuine and you're you, then Wayne Munson would have respect turned fondness turned love for you and you would be someone he'd be happy to have around, especially if you love Eddie. They're a package deal; you can't get one Munson without the other (and why would you want just one of them?) and if one loves you, then the other does, too. (I also feel like if Uncle Wayne doesn't like you - you'd have to be a Grade A Asshole for that, though, then it would make Eddie question everything about his friendship or relationship with you. Uncle Wayne's gut instinct is never wrong.)
They mean so much to each other that Uncle Wayne wants to love you almost immediately when he finds out that Eddie loves you (and the same concept with Eddie's friends, too) because you must be a good one if his boy loves you! He would watch you carefully at first but then the first time he sees you laughing with Eddie (not at him - Uncle Wayne knows the difference, he sees it every day), the first time he catches you smiling at Eddie with your feelings for him written all over your face when Eddie's not even looking at you, he's up to his elbows in soapy dish water as he does the chores he promised he would do, the first time Uncle Wayne sees you cry because you miss Eddie but he's literally just in the bedroom and you're outside on the benches with Uncle Wayne, he realises what's going on and Uncle Wayne melts to realise that now, Eddie has people who love him for him - he has you, the Hawkins gang, he has his dad... Uncle Wayne melts when he finds out people love his boy.
His melting shows itself in quiet ways - he'll make extra coffee because he knows you tend to want one when he does, he'll leave the heater on when he leaves for work because you'll be cold when you come in and he wants you to have a warm place to come back to, he'll leave his flannel around for you and Eddie to wear - he knows the both of you take turns wearing it or even sleeping with it when he's working long and lonely nights at the plant. He'll be there for you at three AM when there's no one left to call but your sorrow is trying to murder you, he'll be there for you at ten AM when your dishwasher doesn't work and you can't figure out why, he'll be there for you when you go grocery shopping together and you haven't quite figured out how to meal plan on a budget yet... Uncle Wayne will be there for you, through it all. You cannot disappoint or anger him, even if you try, and if you do try, then he'll just raise his shoulders in that weary way he has and ask you what you're trying to achieve here. The fact that he doesn't shout or raise his voice makes you feel worse somehow.
So, yeah, if you manage to crack through Wayne Munson's gruff exterior, which is doable but it'll take patience and persistence. He's seen too much of the bad things in the world, he's Eddie's shield, his guardian and protector, and he's more cynical than even Eddie claims to be, full of anger is he at all that he and Eddie have endured thus far in your lives, but keep going, keep persisting and be honest in yourself. You'll find that Uncle Wayne is just as gooey as Eddie is. He melts often, but for no one more so than Eddie. His boy. His son.
Uncle Wayne gave Eddie a home. He gave him the only bedroom in the trailer. I think Uncle Wayne has had Eddie since Eddie was maybe six or seven years old; he's raised his boy. I think his 'dad' is in prison and his mum is dead (based off things Joe has said in interviews), and because Joel (Wayne Munson's actor) said that Uncle Wayne saw what Eddie went through with his 'parents' and wanted to protect him, I took all that to mean that he's had Eddie since he was younger than ten. Which means, Uncle Wayne has voluntarily slept on a fold-out bed in his own living room for at least a decade. He immediately defended Eddie, he spent all those six days Eddie was missing looking for him, replacing vandalised missing posters tirelessly and undoubtedly, defending him against what people were saying, too. The amount of love Uncle Wayne has for Eddie is incredible, and the way Eddie says "my Uncle, he, uh, he works at the plant. Bringing home the big bucks" was casual, and maybe I'm projecting or looking for things which aren't there, but he sounded so proud, too. I hope that, if anything, the Munsons at least knew how loved they were by each other. Canon gave them nothing but I hope that they had the knowledge that they loved each other, at least. At least.
Eddie and Uncle Wayne are like ships in the night. When Eddie is at school, Uncle Wayne is asleep. When Eddie comes home from school or all the extracurriculars he does - drama club, Hellfire Club, spending time in the library looking for the latest fantasy releases, maybe even spending time in the music rooms so he can get tips from the teacher on how to more effectively teach himself by heart and ear Metallica's latest album, Uncle Wayne is out his way to go to work. They exchange smiles, nods, a clap on the shoulder each instead of a hug because there's no real time for that. Or maybe Eddie will go inside and then dart back outside, black curls flying everywhere as a blur of denim and black throws itself at Uncle Wayne just as he's opening his truck door, and gets caught in a hug because damn it, boy, stop throwin' yourself like that, and then Eddie lets him go with a tight smile and Uncle Wayne sighs wearily because I miss you too, son.
Before Eddie goes to school every morning, he gets the trailer ready for his dad to come home. He pulls out the fold-out bed or if he knows Uncle Wayne's back has been especially troubling, he'll haphazardly strip the sheets on his bed and remake them so that Uncle Wayne can sleep there instead of on the fold-out, he gets towels warmed up on the radiators so that his dad has towels there after his shower, he puts the products in the shower itself and gets out the dinner he cooked in advance last night so that all Uncle Wayne has to do when he comes home is kick his shoes off, shower, reheat dinner, and sleep. And any spare cash he has left over after buying the stuff he needs to make D&D props (or begging the art department for any leftovers or things the Head won't noticed missing - Eddie is well liked by the teachers in the Arts and Humanities departments of Hawkins High) or filling up his van or buying school supplies, is given to his Uncle. Not formally, it's just left laying around with a note which says, "in case you need", but it helps. It really helps. And that's why Eddie does what he does. He does the best with what he has and wants to do everything possible to thank his dad for taking him in and always looking after him.
Eddie feels like he owes Uncle Wayne his literal life, but Uncle Wayne feels like Eddie made his life.
They never really say it, but they both know.
Uncle Wayne always thanks him by having a cup of coffee brewing for Eddie, waiting for when he comes home. Sometimes the timing is off so that the coffee is almost cold by the time Eddie gets it, but he nukes it in the microwave or just drinks it as it is. He loves it because his dad made it.
Likewise, Uncle Wayne always makes sure that he doesn't notice where the drugs are stashed around the trailer (he doesn't approve, necessarily, but as long as Eddie doesn't get caught, he'll let his son do what he's gotta do to get by), he makes sure that Eddie always has food and water and a roof over his head, he makes sure that Eddie's room is liveable and helps Eddie to keep it tidy, sometimes he'll rent something from Family Video for Eddie to come home to, fill up the van with gas if he can afford it...
The Munsons are ships in the night but they love each other as loud as they can.
There are times, rare though they are, when the Munsons get to be home together. Maybe Eddie is sick or it's one of Uncle Wayne's days off, or maybe it just worked out that way and Eddie's practically vibrating where he stands because he's just so excited to get to be home uninterrupted with his dad! They spend the day together watching television or spending time together separately. Eddie on the floor of the living room, playing guitar, writing down notes for his next campaign or doing some homework (he really wants to graduate, why else would he put himself through senior year three times? Eddie isn't the problem, it's the school!), maybe he'll ask Uncle Wayne for an answer to one of the questions every now and then and just like always, Uncle Wayne will encourage Eddie to try on his own and if he can't do it after the third time, then he'll help Eddie, getting down on the floor beside him until the two of then are puzzling it out together and before they know it, it's been three hours and Eddie still hasn't finished his physics homework but he's made his dad laugh so much he's pretty sure they've each busting a lung, and that's more important!
In any case, day bleeds into night and they go to bed, Eddie to his room and Uncle Wayne on the sofa, and maybe Eddie has a nightmare or he wakes up and can't go back to sleep, but whatever the reason, he sneaks past a sleeping Uncle Wayne and goes to have a smoke outside, and when he comes back in, Uncle Wayne is sat with his elbows on his knees, his flannel on but open, rubbing at his hand with a tired hand.
"You okay, son?"
"Yeah, I just - " Eddie sighs, ruffles his own hair, "Can't sleep, man."
"Why?" That upward lilt in his dad's voice always makes Eddie smile and right now is no different.
"Nightmare, I guess."
Just like with always, Uncle Wayne melts and he lays back, getting comfortable in his bed again. Eddie is twenty years old, but he's always crawled into his dad's bed after a nightmare, and he will always do that, because that's who the Munsons are. Whatever Eddie wants in terms of affection or love, Uncle Wayne will give it to him because everything is tight in their household except love, and so Eddie receives it in abundance.
"C'mere, Eddie,"
Eddie is twenty years old but he feels no shame in shuffling across the trailer and climbing into his Uncle's bed. There's no awkwardness, they've known each other too damn long, and Eddie brings his knees to his chest and rolls so that his face is buried in the soace just above his dad's heart, so that he can hear and feel that his dad is alive and that he, Eddie, is totally safe.
"S'okay, son," Uncle Wayne roughly pets Eddie's hair, his other arm around Eddie's shoulders, and he manages to lull Eddie's heartbeat to a more relaxed pace, "you know you're safe here."
Eddie makes a sleepily noise and Uncle Wayne chuckles. "Never been any different, Eddie, have you?" Stroking Eddie's hair always puts him out like a light and it never fails to turn Uncle Wayne to mush.
"Love you, dad." It's a sleepy mumble, barely audible, but whether he's painfully silent or shouting at the very top of his lungs, Uncle Wayne will always hear his Eddie, his boy.
"Love you too, son."
And Eddie sleeps.
Uncle Wayne stays awake, like all those nights before, watching his son sleeping, watching over him like the guardian and protector he swore he would always be from the moment he found out that Eddie was to be his boy. He doesn't even want to think about what their lives would be like if he hadn't received that phone call offering him legal parental rights over Edward Munson. So, yes, Uncle Wayne melts for Eddie, but Eddie melts for Uncle Wayne, too, the man who gave him a home and more love than he's ever gonna know what to do with. Everything Eddie does is his attempt to say thank you, though Uncle Wayne would do it all over again and again and again for his boy.
Calling each other 'dad' and 'son' was never something either really thought about, it was a natural progression over months and years of living together, and neither Munson would have it or each other any other way.
The Munsons were the best thing that ever happened to each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I probably have more thoughts in my head somewhere but it's been two hours and I gotta get back to this assignment hhhh I love and miss the Munsons so, so much. They both deserved better and every day I try to honour them and what they taught me by being the best me I can in all things. Shit's exhausting but they get me through.🙏💗)

WELCOME BACK SPORTS FANS TO "VASH'S SCORE BOARD OF PAIN" :D
The time has come sport fans. This is the last round for our debutant Stampede Vash. Its his last time to shine before his break. The crowd is not ready to say goodbye, but they know he deserves a break. Will he go all out? whats the worst thing that could happen am i right?
Grab a snack and get comfy cuz its time...for episode 12
The contestant seems knocked out for a few minutes. No one can blame after the last round. Stampede vash seems out of it until he sees a red geranium that wakes him up AND HERE WE GO! FIRST POINT OF THE LAST EPISODE. HE GETS A "TRAUMATIC EVENT" POINT FOR REALIZING HIS MEMORIES ARE BEING CONTROLLED BY NAI AND HE RUNS. HE RUNS HE RUNS AND HE STRIKES A BEAUTIFUL "SAD OUTBURST" POINT. The suffering division has decided to grant him that type of point because he was crying and chasing the ghost of his dead mom, and according to the rules set after the Outburst Saga in the 60s, any really strong expression of sadness that is unusual for the person and lasts longer than 5 seconds counts as an outburst.
He has 2 points in the bag already, he keeps running. He saves meryl and starts fighting nai like the fucking gunman he is. From the fight he gets 1 "bad event" point for getting pushed against the wall enough to break it and/or damage it. The contestant keeps fighting, he falls and he strikes a beautiful "bad event" point with his wing. This is being set as a "bad event" point because we dont know if the wing will give him trauma in the future BUT it is for sure annoying to get a wing out of nowhere and hit a bunch of buildings.
he flies, flies higher and THERE WE GO, ANOTHER 2 "BAD EVENT" POINTS FOR BEING SHOT AT WHILE FLYING AND WHILE TRYING TO TALK. THE DEBUTANT TRIES TO REASON WITH THEM BUT A "TRAUMATIC EVENT" POINT COMES AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT THANKS TO NAI AND HIS BLOOD LUST.
STAMPEDE VASH FLIES AWAY WITH THE LITTLE STRENGH HE HAS LEFT, BUT IN THE WAY HE GETS 1 "ACTION" POINT FOR STILL TRYING TO TALK TO NAI AND HE STRIKES A "YIKES STATEMENT POINT." HIS "I WONT GIVE UP UNTIL THEY BELEIVE IN ME. I WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES" PUTS IT ON THE BAG.
THE POINTS JUST KEEP COMING. 1 "TRAUMATIC EVENT" POINT FOR TRANSFORMING HIS OWN ARM AND 1 "ACTION" POINT FOR PUTTING HIMSELF IN DANGER FOR THE SAKE OF OTHERS. THE BROTHERS FIGHT IN THE AIR, STAMPEDE VASH MAKES A RUN FOR IT. HIS FINAL TALK WITH NAI (from "since when we have been so different" to "because im vash the stampede") grants him 5 "YIKES STATEMENT" POINTS. THE AUDIENCE IS AN OCEAN OF TEARS AND SUFFERING.
BUT ITS NOT OVER FOLKS ITS NOT OVER. 1 "BAD EVENT" POINT FOR TURNING INTO A BALL OF FIRE. 1 "TRAUMATIZING EVENT" POINT FOR KILLING HIS BROTHER AND ANOTHER "TRAUMATIZING EVENT" POINT FOR KILLING AN ENTIRE CITY HOLY SHIT. SO MANY PEOPLE DIED FOR THIS PERFORMANCE
It seems like the contestant is done...no. wait wait. He waits a few minutes and he strikes a "bad event point" for not being wanted dead. He waits for a little bit- hes running...hes running and GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
A FINAL "ACTION" POINT. HE IS SO MENTALLY UNWELL HE GOT AMNESIA AND PLAYS THE PIANO.
THE CROWD GOES WILD, THE OTHER CONTESTANTS TRY TO HOLD THEIR TEARS AND RUN TO HUG THE YOUNGEST CONTESTANT, THE DEBUTANT FALLS ON HIS KNEES BUT RISES HIS FIST IN VICTORY. WHAT A PERFORMANCE, TRULY AMAZING.
If we add the new 21 points he gathered today, he ends the season with 159 POINTS. AMAZING FOR A DEBUTANT, EVERYONE PLEASE, AN APPLAUSE FOR STAMPEDE VASH.
We wish him a happy break and we cannot wait to see the rest of his career.
but do not fear sports fans. The season of 98 vash is about to start!

'Every great actor understands how to harness the tools they've been given. For Christopher Walken, it's his pinball-esque grasp of cadence. For Jack Nicholson, it's the Play-Doh structure of his face. Then there's Cillian Murphy. Some may say it's the eyes, those piercing almost-translucent blue orbs that help him oscillate from warm to terrifying in a split second. But no, sorry, they're wrong. Nothing but love to those pearly peepers, but the real magic of Murphy's face is that razor-sharp set of blades hugging the side of his head.
Those cheekbones, so sharp you could probably run his face up a bottle of champagne and the cork would fly off. So cutting you could make sushi with them. You would probably have to baby-proof his face for fear of toddlers happening across those dangerous corners. But beyond just how they look (very good), Murphy understands the power they have in his performances. They can transform him from menacing to ghoulish to inviting, sometimes in the space of one role. With Oppenheimer on the horizon, we've ranked Murphy's cheekbone-iest roles to date.
6. Batman Begins (2008)
As the Kens of Barbie are defined by their jobs, the style and mood of a movie will dictate how the Cillian Murphy cheekbones operate on screen: in Oppenheimer, they remind us of the deathly, apocalyptic stakes of the A-bomb. In 28 Days Later, they make everything a little more scary. In Red Eye, they’re serving. Which brings us to Batman Begins, in which Murphy portrays the DC series’ central purveyor of spook, Jonathan Crane, AKA the Scarecrow, ooooh. It’s most appropriate, then, that the tautness of Murphy’s face gives him a hot, skeletal allure, which is also kinda spooky. He can dose us with a demonic hallucinogen any day. JK
5. Red Eye (2005)
We're about to say something Cillian Murphy will, at worst, hate, or, at best, be utterly baffled by thanks to his refusal to exist in the age of the internet. But those cheekbones? In the 2005 Wes Craven underrated film Red Eye? They're serving cunt. Slicey McGee's second consecutive villain role after Batman Begins traded the burlap sack for an eye mask in this thriller where he plays a seemingly nice hot man who turns out to be a terrorist. Modern dating, amirite? The cheekbones do some transformative heavy lifting in this, getting more hollow the more menacing he needs to be. He's essentially Wolverine but the retractable knives are on his face. And, just in case it needed to be confirmed, yes, the cheekbones still hold up under airplane bathroom lighting. The jammy sod. LF
4. Sunshine (2007)
After 28 Days Later, Danny Boyle's second Murphy team-up upped the ante in a fashion any good sequel should: they took the cheekbones all the way to space. If we learned anything about those staggering face cliffs over the course of Murphy’s early career, it’s that they always, always deserve the best lighting possible. Nay, they demand it. Which is presumably why Boyle took Murphy to the surface of a dying star, because fuck a ring light when you’ve got cheeks like these. Chris Nolan would essentially do the same years later with Oppenheimer, though substituting the sun for an atomic explosion. Do NOT turn down the brightness. JK
3. Peaky Blinders (2013-2022)
Has the term peaky blinders been used as slang for cheekbones yet? If not, it should. Think about it, “That boy Cillian's got a cracking set of peaky blinders on him”. It just works. Murphy's almost decade-long tenure as gang leader Tommy Shelby did so much for the landscape of men's fashion – You could barely walk down the street without seeing at least a handful of lads sporting his drastic undercut. And while we're not here to yuck anyone's yum, the real secret sauce of that haircut that so many failed to recognise is that it was following the severe line of his 90-degree, razor-sharp cheekbones. They were simply two parallel lines fighting for supremacy on one man's head, but we know who came out on top in the end. LF
2. 28 Days Later (2002)
Like Watergate, the Moon landing and 9/11, most people can remember where they were when they first saw 28 Days Later, because it was the day that Danny Boyle introduced the Cillibones to the world. Lives were changed, the planet shook, something shifted: here was the most archetypal Man to Be Shot in Close-Up ever seen on screen, unleashing upon the world a cheekbone fever stronger and all the more unhinged than a rage-inducing virus. People literally died. Good movie, too. JK
Oppenheimer (2023)
Christopher Nolan loves Cillian Murphy's face so much he shoots it in pretty much every way he can in Oppenheimer – Colour, black and white, extremely close-up, lit by the fire of 100 tons of plutonium. Not to mention the IMAX cameras! The man just wants to see his guy look glorious on the biggest screen possible, and the result is blinding. Hand us the welder's glass, Oppy, we're about to lose our retinas here. Murphy shed weight to play the emaciated father of the atomic bomb, which give the Cillibones™ a chance to pop even more than usual. He ends up looking like a besuited Grim Reaper which, for someone who utters the iconic phrase “I am become death, destroyer of worlds”, tracks. When the time comes for Murphy to inevitably win an Oscar for this role, we hope there's enough room on the plaque to engrave a co-winner in the shape of his own bone structure. LF'

does anyone know if we have the "parrels between tal and xiv" today. we do?? damn. gonna cry in a corner
anyway. thinking so hard about how xiv and tal.. tal has a loving mom, lived at a farm probably very close to a warzone, and likely was around a ton of different people, even if most of those people died. xiv had a neglectful father, lived in a tower closed off from civilization, and probably didn't know anyone except their father. (i personally hc that xiv was occasionally allowed to get out under supervision from their father to go to the nearby town, but. story for another time). tal grew up with people, and xiv grew up without.
and. man that has some evil interaction ideas? imagine xiv hearing tal talk about how much he loved his mama and all the different foods she'd make him and it just hammering in the fact that xiv's papa wasn't a good man. xiv envying tal because yeah. he mightve been surronded by bloodshed. but at least he had his momma. xiv had a Father.
but what about tal's side of things. Tal realizing xiv not-so-subtly grimacing at his stories about his mom and family. tal hearing xiv passing off stories of their "papa" abusing them and pretending like its fine.
Tal's blood boiling when he finds out what xiv's father did to them. He gets so goddamn mad and nearly goes into a rage because who the hell does that man think he is. he's gonna rip him to shreads when he sees him. how could he do that to someone so genuine as xiv??? how oculd he do that to his friend, nay, his sibling?? oooh it just pisses him off. when he gets back to his momma he's gonna ask her to cook her famous curry and he's gonna have xiv eat it because they deserve it. tal makes sure to hug xiv extra tight, give them extra food at mealtime, because he never wants them to feel like they did back when their father was around.
anyway anyone else having a normal o💥
