A clutch of alternate universe present-day dromaeosaurids with leg bands, as inspired by watching banding livestreams of avian raptor nestcams. The youngest chick is not banded due to having been too small when the older siblings were within the narrow window of their feet having grown to their full size but their legs not being strong and agile enough yet for the chicks to be able to run away from the banders.
The line of dromaeosaurids that in this alternate universe survived the K-Pg extinction event has evolved to hatch more altricial than Mesozoic dromaeosaurids would have, and the young of this particular species remain dependent on their parents for months after hatching, though much like avian dinosaurs, they grow rapidly in size. They can't fly and don't need to fledge, but they only begin hunting on their own after having grown an at least almost complete plumage of pennaceous feathers, having hatched with only wispy down. Though they may catch the occasional bug as they practice hunting behaviors close to the nest.

Reveil is a project, initiated and produced by Soundcamp and the Acoustic Commons network. It tracks the sounds of sunrise from travelling West on live audio feeds from streamers around the world. It tunes to the sounds of weather, machines, migrating birds, air traffic and more - creating a collective soundwork lasting one earth day.
This show is a rebroadcast of Reveil 8 from 2021, to highlight the 10th edition of the project which will take place from 5AM London time on Saturday 6 MAY to 6AM on Sunday 7 MAY 2023. radioart106 will stream from the port of Haifa, in collaboration with Ithaca music, Mezo gallery and Radio Rikavon, in Palestine, Israel.
We will stream nonstop (UTC+3) in parallel to the main (global) stream. Mezo will be open to public during the entire loop as a listening space, and Radio Rikavon will relay the main stream.

Some of my favorites of the screenshots I’ve taken on raptor nestcam streams in the 2022 nesting season.
Lesser spotted eagle nest at Zemgale, Latvia - Parents Anna and Andris, and chick Rota.
1. Anna feeding her day-old hatchling. Lesser spotted eagle (Clanga pomarina) clutch often consists of two eggs, but this year's only had one. Rota hatched on June 5th.
2. Alone for a moment the next day.
3. Watchful with mom.
4. Allopreen the baby.
5. Andris brings prey. Anna is not at the nest at the moment, so Rota takes the food directly from dad, and fiercely mantles it so he doesn’t steal it back. Probably wasn’t going to, but good food guarding instincts on the little one.
6. Stick leggy out to show off those fluffy pants. Almost four weeks old, and visibly growing pennaceous feathers from under the baby down.
7. Standing tall!
8. Plumage is still pretty patchy, but getting there.
9. 8 weeks old. Even though I know the wobbly ball of fluff an eaglet starts out as is going to grow into a beautiful bird of prey, I guess I need to see it to believe it every time. Congrats, it’s an eagle after all!
10. 10 weeks old, and already fledged! Visiting the nest for a snack delivery. Dad knows to stay out of the way on the adjacent branch, as Rota quickly swallows whole the prey he brought, and complains that he didn’t bring dessert, too.

Weekly Nest Notes: Sharing the Commitment (Oct. 29)
Harriet and M15 have assembled a wide variety of materials, giving their nest a beautiful updating. Strong sticks and branches balanced with soft grasses and palm fronds make a sturdy home for their family. Harriet arrived with a bough of fresh pine and added her touches, too. There were discussions between them as to where items were placed, with Harriet usually having the final word. This attractive home may look inviting to others in search for a place to raise their young. Sub-Adult Eagles migrating through the area stopped by to perch in the nest tree, root through the nest and even take a drink at the pond. The Starlings, Crows and other birds dart into the nest to steal materials for their nests. Some of the activities are tolerated and some are not. The Great Horned Owls continue to make their presence and intentions known in the cover of darkness. Harriet and M15 stood their ground in spite of the efforts of the bothersome Owls. Those who enter the territory are now intruders and tolerance of visitors lessens as the time for egg-laying draws near.
Harriet and M15 fortify themselves and each other. M15 delivers nutritious meals for Harriet as well as keeping himself well-fed. He was observed eating prey on a tree branch as Harriet flew to perch above vocalizing at him. He flew off to another location to eat in peace. He later brought half of the catch to the nest for Harriet which she approved and accepted.
Harriet and M15 share all the responsibilities in their goal to raise another generation of offspring. M15 stood guard during the overnight hours when Harriet slept peacefully in the nest. Mating increases and they spend more time perched together in the nest tree and other favorite places in their territory. Harriet and M15 display their unity in their commitment to protecting one another, their property and their soon to be Eaglets. Nest Notes by dadsjazz
