It is so fun watching Orym awkwardly go through the song and dance of formal military presentation - the speeches in front of cheering crowds, the rewarding of titles and honors far too overwrought for the bloody work they represent (Orym could kill someone in half the time it would take him to say, I am Orym, Savior Blade of the Tempest) - because it's possible there's nothing this guy gives less of a shit about than his own accolades or legacy. Orym just wants to be good, even as he becomes less and less certain what that means, even as he thinks that it would be so much easier to give up on that. He wants to feel like he's done something right, for maybe the first time since Will and Derrig died.

And so he fumbles through the rituals, and holds up his shield for the people of Zephrah to bear witness to, and extracts what really matters from Keyleth (who understands the frivolity of this all better than anybody) referring to him as a Savior Blade of the Tempest; not a fancy name for people to call him, but affirmation that he can save people, someone, anyone, at least this time. At least with the Hells at his side.

i swear to god. i thought i was losing my mind. i could faintly hear someone speaking like they were standing right outside my walls. but every time i looked out no one was there. then i started hearing music. true fear is an ominous threat of darude’s sandstorm at 08:43 pm on a friday in september from an unknown origin. i swear the bass is in my floorboards. i can smell the sweat soaked towels being flung through the air. i am alone in my living room & my dog is sleeping soundly & i can hear an announcer from the void of the backyard telling me to “pump it up! let’s make some noise!” but they remain formless. nothing else is making a sound, not even the crickets.

my daily controversial opinion (though I'm not quite sure why it's controversial) is that school districts trying to ban certain books, even those dubbed "problematic" is stupid and also a slippery slope. Like, okay sure I'll give you that some themes in books that are read in classes might not be appropriate for some students depending on age and circumstances, etc., but the idea that schools are banning those books instead of just removing them from the curriculum is bizarre to me. Obviously banning books is a form of censorship, but the issue for me lies in the fact that it can become a catalyst for more censorship, if that makes sense. First it's book banning, but then it could become not allowing students to have opinions that contradict what they're being taught, and so on and so forth. idk i just can very clearly see how it can become a bad situation quickly. and also the idea of banning what we consider "classics" is weird to me to because they often have really important themes and it's like....when we start to ban history, what's left for us to learn from?
