tbh that is a big thing that gets to me about a lot of straight ships that people support and it's just the inability to actually care about how the female character thinks about the arrangement.

Bertolt/Annie is a big one.

Annie show little to no affection for Bertolt. She doesn't look at him. She barely listens to him. She overtly says she doesn't really admire people like him.

She doesn't talk about him. She doesn't think about him. Not even in the ending where she reflects on her life, I don't think she really focuses on him any more than she focuses on anyone else in the 104th.

But Annie's feelings don't matter, if there's two panels of Reiner insisting Bertolt has a crush on Annie, that means that she's eager to jump his bones because her preferences don't factor into her love life.

The lazy hours of the day kick in as I'm lying in Kirishima's arms. It's comfortable like this - loosely wrapped up in a shared blanket, and the warmth of his body next to mine. In the background, the blurred audio of the TV plays. If I'm honest, I stopped listening to it a while ago. Was it playing some music performance, or perhaps the news? Either way, my thoughts jump between their own dangerous spirals and the presence of my boyfriend next to me.

My heart doesn't know whether to pick up or slow its pace when I'm with him. It's been years of us together, but his face never ceases to make me smile. Now I'm lying in his arms, and it's been a day where I don't know if I can find that energy to smile again - but he gives me hope.

He presses a small kiss on my temple. Gentle as always. I relax a little more in his arms, and shift my legs so they entangle with his on the sofa we lie on. He holds me close to his chest; we are heart to heart, see eye to eye from the windows of our pupils until I nestle my head into his chest. Hearing his heartbeat.

The kiss of his pillowy muscles against my cheek. One of his hands holding the back of my head, the other firmly on my waist. Usually, he likes to massage the area with imaginary love notes, perhaps drafting an 'I love you' or simply his initials into my skin. His fingers are rough from his quirk, sometimes still slightly hardened from being overused. When that happens, I like to hold his hands even more and I rub his fingertips softly with my own so he doesn't cut himself by accident. My quirk is somewhat contrasting to his anyway, so I don't get affected by the ridges of the jagged skin. Kirishima is known to be unbreakable, but no one truly knows how I can melt Eiji with my presence. Today is different though - no laughs, no light-hearted smiles whilst I inspect his hands and ask about his day - Eijiro saw me, and understood immediately. Climbing in next to me, embracing me instantaneously. I love how he always knows what to do.

The sturdy hero is my rock. Even though I dangle over a metaphysical cliff's edge, his strong grip suspends me over the threatening abyss below. Eventually, I'm saved as he pulls me upwards. That's the dramatic way to visualize how I am when I get like this, but it feels so real. My biggest fear is that one day I will fall, and I'll take him with me. He already has his own load to bear, but Kirishima tends to hide it behind a reassuring smile, and tells me that "he's a hero too, so that means he has to save others, right?"

But who would save him? Kirishima tells me not to worry about it for now. He hums a low melody that rumbles from deep within his chest, trying to distract me from my own thoughts.

It helps.

His arms feel so strong around me. He rocks me gently as I close my eyes, lulled to sleep in the safety of him, guarded. Eijiro patches each stretching wound of my heart with his time and love - laying here with him is infinite.
