and the thing of it is. re: browser apps and extensions and malware etc. i was GOING to delete chrome and switch to firefox after i graduated (yes that was three months ago i know i know i was there. if you were me you would have fallen into the depression pit too ok). but i wanted to fix the stupid ass malware issue before doing that (it's been a problem for like. months at this point i've just been ignoring it because it's like a minor malware it just redirects searches and wants me download some bullshit dragon honey whatever extension). anyway so what i've done as of now, for everyone interested in this saga, all you fellow computer illiterate queens, well i've done nothing essentially but i did download firefox to use in the meantime. um well you all said it was easy to switch but i obviously didn't believe you but you were right i guess. again i've been in the depression pit. um still have to figure out the malware bit on chrome. because i really do not just want to leave it there even if it is just confined to chrome extensions, that still feels not good

my meds are abt to kick in. once im recovered from this cold, ive got so much to do that im excited about. ive got some pages that are almost ready to be up, some meta to polish off and im really hoping i can get my fic done within the next month or so, but once the End is in sight i can start posting the early chapters which are basically done at this point. i wanna redo my hawke PTs as well and get a better feel for them. THERE'S SO MUCH TO DO IN 2023 and im really pumped abt it.

hi. i figured i should probably say something about the lack of fics still happening. or. well. not happening.

everyone’s been v sweet and i so so so appreciate it. this past year has been so fucking stressful in so many ways, and to add the cherry on top, i now need to get major surgery. i’ll elaborate later when i have the time and energy, i’m still going through pre-surgery tests and setting up the date, but its something that has to happen and right now that is my ultimate main priority.

that all being said, i’m not sure when, or if, i’ll post fics again. for the foreseeable future, at least. i’ll use this account when i can and who knows, maybe being bedridden in recovery will make me want to write lol. but don’t hold your breath on that. i’m not taking anything down though, so y’all can still see all past fics if you want!! just won’t be posting still for a long while.

not saying this for pity or sympathy or anything either, just wanted to be transparent like i’ve always tried to be on here with y’all!! i hope y’all are doing well, friends, mutuals, and followers, i really do mean that. i’ll try to make a more detailed update soon.

ultimately the tense you write something in has pretty much nothing to do with the quality of writing because as long as it serves the point of the story any tense could be pulled off. however i do still just think that present tense is a little cooler than past tense

#watched a yt vid one time where the person was like 'now present tense CAN be done well to indicate urgency or--' they kept going but idk #cos i was like false! present tense is great to write in if you're cool and sexy. bye #like ok. i agree that some stories make better use of tenses than others and there are certainly works in present tense #that would have made more sense in past tense for narrative or thematic reasons #and works that benefit deeply from the immediacy and uncertainty of the present tense #like the example used in this vid was iirc thg? which would have something taken away if it were past tense since the present tense #contributes to the atmosphere. a story in the past tense has an ending already decided. a story in the present is only just now unfolding #even if it's set nobody knows how it ends yet #BUT ALSO. every story must have a tense just functionally and sometimes it literally doesn't matter at all #like sometimes people don't think about it. not that nothing is being communicated but like i think past tense is conventional #and people write in that tense often for that reason. if they haven't thought about tense before especially #and i do think writers have a default? i have a default! it's present tense because i am more skilled in present tense #and like it better personally. i'll often choose past tense if i think it will serve me better for that story but like #I Just Like It. and think it is better. sorry xoxo #good idea generator
