So sorry, I have no idea how long this AAM has been sitting in my inbox!

Hmmmm… there are a ton of them that I rank in my personal favorites, and I could answer this according to that list, or from an objective angle based on overall writing and thematic traits.

Objectively, I’d say the best episode is “Change of Address”, as it’s the full circle moment that the series has been building up to- not to mention that I get CHILLS every time “Magic be With You” starts playing in that haunting choral arrangement. It’s impacted me so much, and maybe it sounds odd to anyone else, but it was the song I sung to my newborn niece to soothe her the first time I met her, and it worked. Overall if’s just a beautiful episode, and I’m always teary afterwards.

Other strong contenders based on objective reasons are “The Day the Music Died”, “Gone But Not Forgotten”, and possibly “River of Life” (?). I give RoL a hesitant nod because it’s so somber that I’ve only been able to watch it twice- and I’ve seen the entire series otherwise so many times I couldn’t even guess, maybe upwards of 30-40 full views? Probably more, honestly, since it’s been my favorite companion since I was a tiny kid.

In terms of my favorites though, I have a long list! It doesn’t have huge overbearing weight in the story, but “Capture the Moon” has always been one of my biggest comfort episodes, as have “Boober’s Dream”, “Red’s Blue Dragon”, and “Wembley’s Flight”. Oh, and “A Brush with Jealousy”!! Man, the song from that one… “show me the light in a butterfly’s eye/and show me the dreams of the earth and the sky”… ahh.. so pretty.. I just feel refreshed upon hearing it. :)

Capture the Moon is where the foundation for my two main Fraggle OCs comes from (and weirdly enough, I came up with them due to a very specific Fraggle dream I had as a little kid, so that’s probably why they’re so dear to me! Hah!)

I also (hot take, I know!) do have a couple episodes I don’t actually care for that much. Of course, I love them all, but I do definitely have some least favorites. (I have never really liked “The Great Radish Famine”. I can’t place why, but it’s 1000% near the bottom of my list, LOL!)

Anyway, you asked a short question, and I totally blathered on for way too long! I’m not sure if I gave a very satisfactory answer 😅 I do suppose I could be more specific and take a more analytical approach if you’d like!! let’s go over the state of things:

maryellen’s vacation playsuit. a totally adorable summer outfit, leaning into the 50’s trend of a playsuit - a romper with a matching detachable skirt. so darling! naturally, it was retired after only one year, and the cheapest it’s currently being sold for on mercari is ninety dollars (missing the shoes, so it’s not even complete). okay, that’s sad, but every collection has one or two poor gems like this.

maryellen’s strawberry outfit! I love this one - I think the colors are just the right combination of cute and garish, which gives it a really fun retro vibe. This one was out for three years so I’m sure the secondhand prices are more reasonable - oh wait, no. they tend to be listed for around a hundred dollars. 😞

maryellen’s rockin’ roller skating outfit is a *little* better. but the dress on its own is still being listed for about fifty five dollars so it feels weird to celebrate that as an improvement. it was out for two years, so I get it being a *bit* more pricey. but the full outfit is being listed for about a hundred dollars so like. still way too much for me.

maryellen’s flamingo swim set is super cute, but it’s only a swim suit. surely people can’t be asking that much for - oh. the swimsuit alone tends to be listed for about 70 and the whole set I seems to be listed for mostly around 150 at the low end. bro.

maryellen’s play outfit. look, at this point I’m getting a bit desperate. I don’t even really like this one all that much (I think it’s cute but it looks weirdly cheap to me?). but this was out for three years, and looks like the kind of outfit that would have good sales! surely I can find it at a decently low price. oh - no, it looks like that will be $70 without the shoes. okay then.

honestly, i get the prices a bit. clearly people are buying them occasionally at those prices, as the sold listings were in those ballparks. however, I AM annoyed at ag. they rotated her collection so quickly that they burned through a bunch of cute designs super fast.

i wish ag would bring back some of these! I feel like her playsuit especially got the short end of the stick. it’s such a cute design and a really cool bit of fashion history.

Changed my pfp to the lovely Miss Daaé (one of, if not my most beloved gothic heroine 💕) as played by the super talented Amy Manford in the Greek production, since I'm in a Phantom mood these days (I'm even re-reading one of my fav phics and editing my....... *cringes* old Canon Divergent fic that I wrote when I was 19/20 because oh my god, it sure af needed some heavy adjustments brrrrr 🤦🏻🤦🏻)

#like. that fic is SO bad on many levels and my writing improved soooo much over the years it's not even funny #but i'm extremely fond of it since it was my first completed long fic #and i loved writing about erik (poor little meow meow Most Beloved etc. etc.) and his relationship with the main female protagonist #who is... technically not an oc but let's be honest. she's such a small character in canon #that the heavily detailed personality/backstory i gave her makes her almost an oc #and one of my blueprints/fav archetypes for female characters in general #it's not an e/c story (tho i do like e/c and the fic i'm currently rereading is a GREAT eristine au) #but i also tried to make *their* relationship (as told through the abovementioned not quite oc main pov) as nuanced #and tragically fascinating as i think it is in canon 🙏 #most of all it was a challenge. i remember my main goal was to write a relationship between erik and a young woman #with a VERY different personality than christine's. not bcs i dislike c. (quite the opposite as you can see from my pfp!) #but almost as a writing experiment. which most of my works usually end up being btw #so their relationship and eventually romance is some kind of a foil/distorted mirror of canon e/c. there's the (anti)villain/heroine + #older mentor/younger pupil + batb/death&the maiden themes etc. #BUT! the girl has a very different temperament than erik's main object of affection and desire #(wilder; darker; closer to his own actually *and* in itself a foil for christine's softer but not less strong nature) #and it's also true enemies to friends to lovers. and by far the most tragic thing i've ever written #like. i remember crying my heart out while writing erik's death scene... in the same chapter i made him and my girl fuck #and find some kind of romantic blessing after all the shit i put them through. unbelievable skskks #tho mind you it's NOT good. like AT ALL #actually i'm extremely embarrassed about it. how the fuck did i even think this was readable #let alone publishable on a fanfic site?
