klance - a review
Tumblr media
Credit: @clink0maniac
This couple was my Wattpad phase, If there was a moderately popular fic of these two around 2020-2021, odds are I had probably read it.  But, embarrassing middle school years aside. This ship had the tea.
My interpretation of the creators decision (and said tea) is that they wanted to make Klance endgame, or at least have Keith or Lance be canonically queer. Since Voltron is a absolute clusterfuck that didn't end up happening. So, that left them with a very flirty very bi-coded Cuban on their hands. To combat this, they made him flirt with more women, and made him look even more bi. And Keith noped off to space with his mom, and stifling any romantic or platonic chemistry they had in the first place. There is something to say, as someone who joined the fandom late and just sat in the wreckage. I got to enjoy with almost none of the cons associated with shipping.
Now, back to the ship itself. I enjoy it immensely, they are both endearing little guys. They have contrasting color palettes, red and blue y'all I can't even. So, besides the drama I genuinely enjoy this ship and the plethora of popular AU's  spawned by it. To name a few my personal fav's were; Mermaid, GalraTransformation!Keith, Roommates/College. But, one thing that always felt a little off was the Langst. I know that the widest smiles hold the most pain, but to some point, its important to also stay in character and pull inspiration/character traits out the canon and not out of your ass. All in all, it had its fair share of bumps but both of our boys had great chemistry (in season 1-3) and some people saw it and shared something super personal and gifted us with many great fanworks. :D
Tropes/AU's Commonly Associated: 8/10
Most of the AU's are super cute, like mermaid or dad!Lance. But it does get points down for Langst, because it seemed OOC and little like you were dragging him through hell for no reason. And the tropes, enemies/rivals to lovers along with mutual pining. That's the tea!
Dynamic: 9.5/10
If you get a good dialogue writer, this ship can really shine with them, because of the bickering being their love language. Along with them being opposites attract, so there are many little nooks and crannies to explore regarding their differences.
Looks: 7.5/10
tbh, they look a little boring. They are 2 guys???? Yes, the art done of them is absolutely beautiful, and they do get points for contrasting color palettes. But, they are literally just a mullet with legs and a bi man lol.
All in all; 25/30

"The first step to fixing a problem is admitting you have a problem"
"No, I'm not fixing my problem. I'm just self aware"
Could be Langst or Klance or both
I give you klangst
-----
Lance politely excused himself from the conversation he found himself in, borderline storming out of the ballroom. He mumbled curses under his breath as he headed to the observatory deck.
He always came here when he was upset or missing home more than usual, usually the former than the latter.
He plopped down on the steps, hugging his waist. Stupid mullet, stupid mister perfect. He could oversleep every single day and yell at everyone and still be the #1 best teammate. He looked up at the stars, begging for some peacefulness. I hate him.
Okay, hate is a strong word, Lance felt the opposite regarding his fellow team member. He had a ridiculously unrequited crush on him. He knew it wasn’t Keith’s fault he was prone to jealousy and didn’t know how to manage it. It wasn’t Keith's fault that he compared nearly every aspect of himself to him. It wasn’t Keith's fault he was just Lance.
Lance was always an insecure guy, being the youngest meant he had to fight for attention. His parents loved him and he knew he was loved but he never felt good enough; it was a weird feeling.
He just wanted to feel worthy for once. He wanted to be applauded for something he did, for a plan he created, for saving a species, for something.
Tonight just tipped him over the edge a bit. He and Keith had infiltrated a ship together, stopping a new Galran weapon from destroying an entire planet.
It was Lance's idea to go on the ship, it was Lance's idea to have the team distract the fighters from the sky as Keith and Lance made their way through. Keith had tagged along due to his Galra biology and he opened the doors for him. It was all Lance's idea.
So why did Keith get all the praise at the celebration?
The team clapped with everyone else and Lance gave a couple of weak claps before leaving. Lance didn't feel part of the team, he didn't feel valued as a team member, and he just wanted to leave.
He wanted to take Blue and just fly anywhere that wasn't the castle or the Galran empire. He knew he was being selfish. The team wasn't even aware of his issue so he couldn't really blame them.
He really hated his mind most of the time. He rationally knew he was valued and wanted but most of the time he couldn't convince himself that he was.
"Thought you'd be in here." Keith's voice rang in the darkness of the room and Lance rolled his eyes.
"What? Already tired of people chanting your name? Go, Keith! Our savior." He wrapped his arms around his knees, pressing his forehead against them.
He heard Keith sigh and take a couple of steps into the room. "If you didn't run away so fast you would have heard Allura correct them. Tell everyone you came up with the plan."
Lance scoffed, "sure whatever."
"I'm serious." He heard Keith sit down next to him, keeping distance between them.
"Wow one point for Lance, like twenty for Keith."
He heard Keith groan in frustration. "I'm sorry you hate me. But if I can make you hate me any less could you please tell me?" Keith said in a slight huff.
"I don't hate you."
"You don't like me."
"It's not," Lance lifted his head up slightly, not being able to face the other boy. "I'm just, angry with myself."
"Why do you take it out on me?" Keith's voice was laced with slight anger.
"I don't know."
"Bullshit. Ever since we save Shiro on Earth you've been trying to start something with me."
"Maybe I don't like your mullet." Lance turned to face him, Keith staring back at him with fire in his eyes.
"It's not a mullet!"
"Yes, it is!" Lance stood up, staring down at the other boy. "If you took like a minute to look at yourself in a mirror you would see that it's a mullet."
Keith stood up, "why are you obsessed with my hair?"
"It's not just your hair."
Keith crossed his arms, "what else do you hate about me then?"
"Just-Just you're perfect at everything! You're Keith Kogane! Shiro borderline adopted brother. You've never been scolded or belittled or told to do better. I'm just a fucking boy from Cuba stuck in space with mister can-do-no-wrong constantly reminded that I'll never be up to your standards. Or anyone's standards. The only thing I have on you is I didn't flunk out from the Garrison. Even when you were still top of the class." Lance looked at the ground, "I only go fighter because you left."
"Lance-"
"And maybe I'm just upset because I want to have that." He looked back up at the other boy, who was staring back at him with a somber expression. "I want for once to be the center of praise or approval. Not begging for someone to just acknowledge what I'm capable of."
Lance shifted his gaze up, looking out into the stars. "I'm the youngest, and they say the youngest gets spoiled but by the time I was born all my siblings were in high school. They were going into college, getting scholarships, and I was just...left behind." He wrapped his arms around his waist, "my family loves me. I know they do, but I always felt left out."
"I always wanted to find my place somewhere, somewhere I felt important or needed. Then you," he brought his gaze back down towards the other boy, "had to come into space with us and once again," his voice became barely a whisper. "I'm in someone's shadow."
Neither spoke for what felt like forever, the silence looming over them like a fog.
"I didn't know you felt like that."
Lance rolled his eyes, plopping back down on the step with a huff.
Keith looked down at him, "I'm serious."
"Okay."
Keith returned to his spot next to Lance, the air tenser between them. "You're not just a boy from Cuba, I hope you know that."
"I'm not much here. Just the 7th wheel if you ask me."
Keith shook his head, "I'm sorry you feel like that but Lance, you're more than that. You're vital to the team."
Lance scoffed, "sure."
Keith released a small sigh, "I'm serious. Without you, we wouldn't be Voltron."
"Allura can fly blue."
"So what?!"
Lance turned his head at the boy's outburst, his shoulders rising and falling as he tried to compose himself. "So I'm not needed."
"So that's it?! Someone else could fly your lion so you have no worth all of a sudden? You have worth, you are a part of this team you're-"
"I'm leaving the team." Lance surprised himself. He had always entertained the thought but he never spoke the words out loud.
Keith sucked in a quick breath, clearly not expecting those words to be said. "What?"
Lance took a shaky breath, keeping his eyes trained forward on nothing in particular. "I'm leaving the team. No matter what I do I'm not needed here."
"Jesus Lance, listen to what you're saying. If you didn't come up with your plan on that ship we would have been captured or killed. You did that, if you weren't here no one would have thought of that."
"You don't know that Keith."
"Well, you seem to act like you know what our lives would be like if you left." Keith's voice sounded a bit sharp in the quiet of the room and Lance couldn't blame him. If the roles were reversed he would be just as upset as Keith.
"I just want to belong."
Keith's face fell slightly and his body relaxed ever so slightly. "I'm sorry you feel like you don't. I wasn't aware you felt like that. I don't think any of us were."
Lance opened his mouth to respond but no words tumbled out. He suddenly realized how exposed he felt, how he basically spilled every insecurity he ever felt in his life to his crush. "I need to go."
He stood up, making a beeline towards the door, a gloved hand grabbing his arm and twisting him around. He was face to face with Keith, a bit closer than they usually stood. "You have a problem."
"Excuse me?"
Keith shook his head, "that came out wrong. I just...look I'm not good with words but you need help? Support I don't know."
Lance looked down at Keith's finger wrapped around his arm.
"The team will want to help you, I want to help you. Please just, don't leave before we get the chance." Keith looked down at his own hand, then back up at Lance's face. "Shiro used to say that the first step to fixing a problem is admitting you have a problem."
Lance met his eyes, quickly shifting his gaze to the scenery beside his head. "No, I'm not fixing my problem. I'm just self-aware. Me leaving will at least be a step towards something." He tried to turn again but he couldn't shake his arm from Keith's grasp. "Let me go."
"I can't. Not until you listen to me."
Lance stopped fighting against his teammate, this might be the last time he was able to touch Keith in any capacity so he might as well savor it. "I'm listening then."
Keith gave him a slow nod. "You're part of this team. Without you, we wouldn't have been able to access the Blue lion. She was waiting for you, Lance. You fought Sendek, you've come up with plans on the fly, you make the team laugh, you just...without you we wouldn't be the team we are today."
Lance didn't say anything, just simply staring at the spot beside Keith.
"You're our sharpshooter, you've saved all of our asses more times than we can count. We can explain how you feel to the team. We can all advocate for you, get you the credit you deserve." Keith tightened his hold on his arm ever so slightly, "please I don't want to lose you."
Lance was leaning forward before he could stop himself, softly pressing his lips against Keith's. He tried to pull back, but Keith held him close, holding on to him like he was a life raft.
When they eventually separated Lance slid his arm out of Keith's grasp. "I'm sorry," and he quickly left the room, trying to decide if he should go lay down or go get an escape pod.

Ambiguous ending? I just,,,love writing angst sorry not sorry.
I hope I did this idea justice <3

coming back to the voltron renaissance in 2023 made me think about the old fandom and the new fandom, and how they never changed.
mostly the hate for sheith and the fanon interpretations of the paladins. i was a sheith shipper and i still love them so much. but back then and even now, people will label those who like sheith, no matter who they are, "p*dos", "incest shippers", or simply "proshippers". this issue has been talked about in the past, but i still see it in the voltron fandoms renaissance, so i just wanted to put my two cents about this issue.
since the hate was born from the fanon interpretations i will start there (please keep in mind that these are my opinions and im writing about the things ive seen personally, back then and even now):
i will start with lance actually. lance in canon is the flirty, happy, jokester, or as pidge said "the goofball". he flirts with women sometimes, makes jokes, but overall he is a capable paladin, and he is great at longe range weapons. he has his own set of insecurities and has expressed homesickness in the show when they were still in space. his insecurities came from thinking what he brings to the team isnt enough. this isnt a rant about the show itself (mostly) so i wont be talking about his missed potential here, many lance lovers already did that. now in his fanon version ive seen, especially back then, his insecurities and homesickness was turned up to a 100. he had depression, and hid it behind a happy facade. this isnt my problem with the fanon character. i completely understand projecting onto a character ypu relate to, i do it all the time. my issue, in a lot of fandoms not just voltron, is that sometimes people bash other characters or make them unnecessarily mean just to angst another character. i personally hate character bashing with a passion. it honestly makes me a little mad sometimes, because the character is the exact opposite of what the fandom portrays them as. im not trying to generalize the entire fandom, but i see this a lot in almost every fandom. its usually only a single character that gets bashed too. when i look at something for the character from a show/book/etc i want the actual character, preferably with hcs i find cool, not oc content made out of them. i like oc content separately thats another thing, but making characters into what theyre not defeats the purpose of liking them in the first place. thats what i almost always saw with "langst". unnecessary character bashing, mostly keith, almost always keith. was the team mean to him sometimes? yes! but lance wasnt the defenseless victim in any way, he retaliated. thats the whole point of his own "rivalry" with keith. to push each others buttons. i love when people make hcs for characters even if i dont like them, but not when it erases another character entire personality or watering it down. that was my issue with fanon lance. he wasnt hated by the team. do i have hcs that dont align with canon at all? yes yes i do!!! thats okay!! but i try to keep their personalities the same.
next up shiro, my sweet winter child. shiro is the "hero", always willing to do whats good for the majority. hes the leader, the champion of the empire, hes calm when he needs to be, but hes also playful sometimes, and adventurous, and (from the pre-kerb flashbacks) even a little bit of an adrenaline junkie probably. most importantly, hes young. not a teen young, but a young-adult. his trauma made him seem more "mature" and "responsible", and yes while he is responsible, he is nowhere near parental kinda responsibility. his fanon interpretation make him a father figure to all, tired™️, wants to die, single father to 4 children, etc etc. personally, i dont see it. hes at most an older brother figure to the garrison trio. also he is keiths best friend. not parental figure but best friend. he is maybe the dad friend of the group and thats a maybe. because of the “father figure” hc, a lot of people hated on sheith bc “ew dude thats his dad/brother”. this kinda thing is not exclusive to the vld fandom either, because genshin has this issue too. i wont be talking about it in depth but another ship i like, zhongxiao, is hated because of the very popular “father/son” hc that is not canon. fandoms need to learn that just because a hc is really popular doesnt mean it is actually canon. the fanon shiro has the feel of a middle aged dad, when in reality hes barely in his mid twenties. he makes stupid laser sounds, jumps off of cliffs in a hover bike, and goes on rides past curfew with keith. he was the youngest pilot to ever go to the edge of the solar system, it was literally said in the show. he was most likely 21-23 pre-kerb and 25 in s1. people forget that yes shiro aged a bit in space but so did the others. also he was dead for like 3 season so i dont think he aged that much then. he died when he was 25-26, i really dont think people age when they die but thats just me idk. if you age shiro up while keeping the other paladins in the 16-18 range thats weird, and if you attack people because of that thats weirder. his responsible nature probably was caused by his trauma when he was the champion. he had to mature to survive.
now, onto my specialest boy, my babygirl, my universe, keith. i will admit that i have a bias when it comes to him, but its probably not what youre thinking. first things first, ill say this again in another post too, i hc keith as strictly mlm, meaning i dont like any pairings with him that involve a female character, especially acxa (bc shes my gf). this does NOT mean that i will harass people who like it. it just means i will block you if you reblog or like posts with it, because thats what youre supposed to do if you see something you dont like. this was just a heads up just in case. back to the actual rant. keiths canon character is that he has trouble trusting people, but hes still kind, thoughtful, and sometimes playful too. like in s1 where he was having fun with the team. he has a edgy exterior, likely because he wants to drive people away before they can reject him. he has trouble understanding social cues and such, he is fiercely loyal and protective of his loved one(s). his fanon interpretation watered him down to "edgy teen", or sometimes an asshole. he was seen as emo and angsty, friends are for the weak, and "shiros emo son/brother". they took away the times he has shown vulnerability and kindness. when he put others no matter what above him during survival. he is not someone that would be mean for absolutely no reason, his rivalry with lance was mostly one-sided because lance initiated and he retaliated. his inability to understand social cues was most likely due to a) growing up in the foster system b) people not making an effort to know him, like shiro did, and shrugging him off as the emo loner kid and c) his year alone in the desert after his expulsion. some people made him up to be an asshole, or just plain stupid (lance sometimes got the "dumb one" treatment from the show but ive never seen it in the fandom, feel free to correct me). he was seen as edgy and emo for acting the way he did in s3 after shiro disappeared and before they found him. the treatment keith got, from both the show and the fandom, was so so bad. especially when it came to his trauma, grief, and his self-sacrificing tendencies. after shiro disappeared post-s2 keith lashed out, he was tense, from losing shiro AGAIN. there are, as we all know, 5 stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. he had just gotten shiro back after everyone told him he was dead and then he lost him yet again, this time with no logical explanation as to why or how. he just disappeared, seemingly into thin air. there was no logical explanation, he couldnt linger in denial like before, because there was nothing to deny. shiro was gone. the others didnt understand, because they werent as close to shiro as keith was. he was their leader, their role model, their friend, sure but he was keiths best friend. the one person that didnt give up on keith even when everyone else did. their attempt at comfort fell flat, because they didnt understand what keith was going through, except for maybe pidge. keith didnt "get over it" at all, and it showed. it showed in his leadership, when he kept going after lotor, even if they kept getting their asses handed to them. i could make a separate long rant about hoe keith mental well being was always shrugged off, his sacrifices. another instance, was naxela, or however you spell it idk. keith almost sacrificed himself, almost died, to save everyone else. he was so so close to doing it that if lotor was even a second late he wouldve died. and no one acknowledged that, not even an "are you okay" from matt, who begged him not to do it. hell, shiro(kuron) even congratulated him for taking the shield down and saving them. imagine how fucked up it wouldve been if keith succeeded. keith self-sacrifices are never brought up, never acknowledged. the cartoon excuse wont work because the show did cover heavy topics at times. keiths inability to see himself as invaluable and important was further encouraged by the "mission before the individual" mindset. im about to lose my point and start ranting about keith.
now, sheith;
no sheith isnt incest. they arent and never was actual brothers (adopted or otherwise). the "youre my brother" line is what people always refer to in an arguement, but that isnt evidence. bc in s2 keith said "youre like a brother to me". "oh they have a brotherly relationship you cant ship them-" yes i can. yes i absolutely can. that arguement is literally just "smh cant two people be friends". because they are best friends first. and it was always keith saying those things, never shiro so i can make the arguement that if they had a brotherly relationship it was one sided. in the black paladins episode (still my favorite along the the bom) the clone didnt have a reaction to the "youre my brother" line, he specifically had a reaction to "i love you". there was a pause between those two lines, so i can make the argument that keith thought shiro only saw him as a brother, but when that didnt work, he confessed. but even without my own argument, they still are never brothers, otherwise they wouldnt have put a direct paralel between shiros ex-boyfriend and keith.
no sheith isnt a p*edo ship. keith in s1 was 18, and that wasnt even confirmed after a while. shiro was 25. in s6 keith was 21 and shiro, being dead, was most likely still 25. most people, like me, who shipped sheith started shipping them in s1, because it was clear they had a positive history. keiths first word was "shiro?" in the softest most vulnerable voice ever. shiro always showed concern for keith, the way the looked at each other was enough for people to like them as a ship. their wiki has an incredible amount of moments between them that can be interpreted as romantic. the ages were never an issue, if they were they wouldnt have said that they could be interpreted as romantic. even with the pre-kerb argument, because the ages arent confirmed, it never was.
this point is for shunk, shance, etc too. but bc sheith was and still is public enemy no1, i talk about them. sheith was popular, and at the time any ship with keith and lance that wasnt klance was hated by them, but sheith especially so. the fandom calmed down for a bit and now its back, i think, from what i saw. but the sheith argument is still going on. i got back into vld because of a keith edit i saw on tiktok, i wont lie. but the not so surprising thing was that sheith is still public enemy no1. you cant go one second without someone hating sheith and making fun of the shippers. its a "proship" apparently. hell my favorite keith editor literally has "shaladins dni". the hate for sheith specifically is still so strong. and its exhausting, i dont like people calling me a proshipper simply for liking a fictional ship that is in no way a proship.
i sat down for like probably an hour writing this just to get my thoughts out. i have been thinking about this for so long, even if this doesnt make sense or its stupid i really dont care. maybe tomorrow ill hate it, maybe ill delete it even who knows. im really glad that there are places where sheith is no longer shot on sight.

Flance Mini Fic #1= Voltron: Galaxy Guardians
(Is “Flance (Fluff +Lance)” an official tag yet? Please tell me this is already an official tag. Yes? No? Never mind I am going to use it. Credits to the person who made the term “Flance”!)
(So! This is a “Ah! My Goddess AU” But at same time it doesn’t necessarily in line with it. This will be Klance and this will be fluff. There might be grammatical errors but I really tried to keep it in minimum. This will be short because I’m only writing whenever I have the inspiration. I guess I cover up everything.)
Part 1:
They were called “Voltron: Galaxy Guardians”. Yeah, such a heavy name but at the same time it sounds like a movie title. But this was the place where Lance and basically every people that he knows (that includes his own family) worked in every day of their lives. Their job was basically to maintain balance throughout the whole universe and all its possible realities.
 There were a lot of different realities out there and Lance really respects Slav for his dedication in monitoring each one of it and alerts the rest of them if there was something wrong in one or more of the said realities.
 By maintaining balance it didn’t mean that they were the peace keepers. No, by balance their organization meant was that there should be an equal force between good and evil. If war must happen in order to keep the world moving then so be it. Lance was just really lucky he was not in that division though. He really considered himself very lucky that he was not the one overseeing the listed wars and bloodsheds that should happen in the near future or the present.
 He really was thankful that his job was one of the easiest to monitor…but at the same time it was really boring.
 Lance was placed in the division that supervises the amount of lucks, both bad and good. Now this one was very tricky since luck didn’t really need to be equal to be balanced since it worked hand in hand with fate. This was also the reason why their division handles the reward and punishment department of the organization.
 It was just really boring since fate and luck has this attitude of messing around each individual that were directly affected with their powers. So it means that less fixing for Lance and just more watching.
 “I’m bored…” Lance slumped on the top of his glass table as his eyes continued to track the numbers and letters appearing on the screen in a rapid upward movement. Despite the speed, Lance could clearly read each and every part just like someone would read a book in a peaceful setting.
 He was about to voice out another complain when his desk phone started to wring. Looking at the number to where the call came from, Lance found out it was in a planet called “Earth”. He was suddenly delighted since it’s been a long time since he had the chance to see the blue planet!
 Without wasting another second he answered the call.
 “Hello! Thank you for calling Voltron: Galaxy Guardians. Please wait a moment for me to process your transaction!” he was so happy that he didn’t bother to hear the protest from the other line. Well, it would be just the same old line where the person on the other side would apologize in calling the wrong number.
 Lance closed all the screens in front of his desk before opening the system that would be used as a portal and take him to the nearest mirror it could find for him. It’s been a long time since he granted a wish. No matter how absurd it would be, Lance was sure that it will be possible to be granted since if not then the universe would not allow the caller to reach their line.
 Reaching the exit (or entrance depending in which angle you will look at it), Lance appeared fully before the caller and introduced himself in a heartbeat.
 “Hello! The name is Lance. I’m the Blue Paladin of the Voltron: Galaxy Guardians and I’m here to grant one wish from you!”
 Well, the man who was fortunate to dial their number could use some haircut. Who still has a mullet in this day and age? Apparently this guy.

IMHH (in my humble headcanon) Lance was already out as bi to his family, friends, etc before he even left for the Garrison. I imagine he has a really loving and supportive family and was able to come out without much fear.

If Dreamworks wanted to make me cry all they’d have to do is make Lance say his “I’m just a boy from Cuba.” line that’s so popular in this fandom while simultaneously sacrificing himself for the greater good of the team. Is this so much to ask, Voltron staff?

For the lovey @miyeongi-cutie who suggested a bakery AU that I am OBSESSED WITH!!! Hope you like it! 🖤
~~~~~
“So where are we going again?” Shiro asked as he threw an arm around Keith’s neck, drawing him in and ruffling his hair.
“Hey, stop it! Get off!” Keith ducked out from his grip and shoved him away, trying to fix his hair. “Why are you like this, you’re so annoying!” Shiro chuckled and nudged him with his elbow. “I’m your big brother. It’s my job to annoy you. Now, answer the question.”
Keith rolled his eyes and muttered “Adopted brother. Anyway, we’re going to this cafe or bakery place that Pidge won’t stop talking about. Says their coffee is really good and the food is ‘better than free wifi.’”
Shiro raised his eyebrows until they nearly disappeared under his tuff of hair.
“Better than free wifi? Pidge said that? Huh, wow. They must be really good then.”
Keith hummed in agreement and stuffed his hands in his red jacket, pulling it closer. Shiro smiled at the action zipped up his black and gray jacket, burying his nose into it.
It was late fall, and the breeze held a chilly bit. The wind whispered of winter, and the trees had begun to shed their leaves, some of which where floating in the air, softly floating the the ground. Shiro was enjoying the slight crunch they made when he stepped on them when Keith grabbed his arm.
“Hey, I think this is it.”
Shiro stopped and observed the building before them. It was a simple building, one that you could easily pass if you weren’t looking for it. The building was made out of worn brick, with a chalkboard sign in front the entrance that read: ‘Welcome to Voltron! Please do not touch pastries with your hands. Use your tongue.’ Shiro chuckled at the sign while Keith just stared.
“What kind of a name is Voltron?”
Shiro shrugged.
“I have no idea, but you have to admit, it is a pretty unique name that would be hard to forget. Now come on, I’m getting hungry.”
Shiro opened the door and was immediately hit with a wall of delicate dents of vanilla, sugar, cinnamon, the roast of coffee beans, and other heavenly scents. Keith moaned at the smell and Shiro couldn’t blame him. The smell almost made him weak in the knees.
They walked into the shop and looked around. It was a very cozy cafe. Their were multiple colored booths and chairs and even beanbags, coming in black, blue, red, green, and yellow. They was stools along the bar, and there was a glass case full of desserts and pastries that had Shiro’s mouth watering. Shiro was about to press his face right up against the glass when I kind voice greeted them.
“Hey! Welcome to Voltron!”
Keith and Shiro turned toward the voice and saw a bolder of man in its place. He was wearing cargo shorts and a yellow shirt accompanied with a yellow apron. His hair was tied back with a bandana, and had a name rage that read 'Hunk.’ Keith read it and arched an eyebrow at him, and Hunk just laughed.
“Yeah, before you ask, it’s real. Everybody calls me that.”
Shiro smiled and greeted him. “It’s nice to meet you Hunk. My name’s Shiro and this is Keith. Pidge suggested this place and highly recommended it.”
Hunk’s eyes lit up and gave them a beaming smile. “Oh Pidge! Yeah I know them! Me and Lance have become friends with them because they come so much. Oh! And Lance is the pastry king. I’m the coffee master, so it evens out.”
Shiro nodded and turned his attention to Keith. “Hey Keith, do you-Keith?”
Keith was not listening to either of them, eyes glued to a small white cup on the register, face furiously red. Shiro looked at him with a confused look before picking up the cup that was causing Keith’s dilemma. When Shiro read the cup, he sputtered and started laughing loudly, cheeks slightly flushing.
Hunk cocked his head. “What? What is it?”
Shiro turned the cup to Hunk, who could clearly read the font in neat loopy handwriting: “Just put your tip in here. See how it feels.” Hunk immediately paled and then change to a shade of purple then red. He quickly grabbed the cup and threw it away.
“LANCE THAT IS SO INAPPROPRIATE WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!”
They were able to hear mad cackling in the back of the cafe where the kitchen was. Hunk turned back to them, straightening his apron, flush still on his cheeks.
“I’m so sorry, that won’t happen again. So, uh, what would you like to order?”
Shiro peered at the menu, tapping a finger against his chin. He looked at Keith who just shrugged, as lost as he was.
Shiro turned back to Hunk. “What do you recommend?”
Hunk’s eyes lit up and he clapped his hands together.
“Oh man, where do I start? Everything Lance makes is amazing. Hmm, let’s go with something exotic. How about miguelitos and tarta de Santiago?”
Keith furrowed his brow. “What the heck are those?”
Hunk chuckled.
“Oh yeah, sorry miguelitos is this pastry that is made up of like a million thin pastry layers and each layer is filled with chocolate or cream. It’s then dusted with powdered sugar. Tarta de Santiago is a really thin, moist almond cake. Powdered sugar is on top of it as well. As you probably guessed, their both Hispanic desserts. Lance likes to show off his heritage.”
Shiro hummed gave him a smile. “Alright! We’ll get both of those, and I’ll get an espresso. Keith?”
Keith looked at the menu again. “Do you have soy milk?”
Hunk nodded and smile.
“Okay, I’ll just have a hot chocolate. With extra whipped cream on top.”
Shiro chuckled.
Keith glared at him. “What?”
“Oh nothing, nothing! Just glad to see my little brother growing up.”
Shiro laughed hard as Keith flushed and punched him in the arm as he paid Hunk.
He put the change into the new tip cup and went to sit down at table in the corner. It wasn’t long before they had sat down when Hunk brought them their food, perfectly balancing them on a small tray.
“Order up! I hope you like it!” Hunk sent them a smile and went back to the counter.
Shiro looked at the coffee and food and inhaled deeply, the smell making his mouth water.
“Let’s not waste anymore time! Let’s dig in!” Keith and Shiro both reached for the miguelitos and popped it in their mouths. Shiro’s eyes fluttered closed as the pastry melted in his mouth, and chocolate covered every taste bud. He almost had to stifle a moan. And Keith wasn’t in any better shape. He was looking at the patty in awe, as if it held the secrets to the universe. He quickly looked up at Shiro.
“Wanna try the tarta thingy?”
“Oh heck yeah.”
Shiro and Keith both picked up a slice, gave a mock cheers, and bit into it with a crisp crunch. However, as soon as the cake met their tongues, it practically melted away. Keith grabbed both pastures and shoved them in his mouth at the same time.
“I am in heaven.”
Shiro opened his mouth to agree, when an excited voice cut him off.
“HUNK!! HUNK, I DID IT!! You’ve got to try this! I’ve combined a churro and a cupcake into one blessed love child!”
Shiro turned toward the voice, laughing with amusement in his eyes. He went to take a drink of his coffee, but that’s when he laid eyes on the excited baker. Shiro chocked on his coffee, spraying across the room and spluttering the hot liquid out of his lungs.
“Holy shit! Are you alright Shiro?”
Shiro ignored Keith’s concern and whipped around to get a better view of the baker. Said baker had warm mocha skin, as rich as the coffee he was drinking. His hair was a warm chocolate, shaggy and barely reaching the top of his eyes. And his eyes. Oh god his eyes. They were the deepest blue Shiro had ever seen, reminding him of the ocean and they were so bright with life and energy. And he was covered with flour, which Shiro found absolutely adorable. It was covering the front of his apron and was even smeared across one of his cheeks, and Shiro wanted nothing more than to brush it away with his thumb.
“Uh…Shiro?”
Keith waved a hand in front of Shiro’s face, who just knocked it out the way, leaning out of his seat. Keith followed his gaze and let out a long sigh when he realized what he was staring at. Keith kicked him in the shin, finally getting his attention.
“Seriously Shiro? Can please control your emotions.”
Shiro gave him a small pout, but still turned toward the boy. “Keith, oh Keith. He’s so pretty. No, gorgeous. Did you see his eyes? They’re so blue and beautiful.”
Keith groaned and dropped his head on the table.
“Shiro we came here to try the food, not try the baker.”
“I’m not complaining.”
“Shiro!!”
Shiro ignored his scandalous tone and continued to stare at the baker who was talking animatedly about his new creation, hands flying everywhere. Keith let out another long sigh and sat back in his chair.
“I am not ready for all this pining. You’re a mess Shiro. Remind me the curse Pidge for suggesting this place.”
“Well remind me to thank Pidge.”
Shiro then stepped out of his chair, walking toward the duo.
“S-Shiro?! Where are you going?”
Shiro tossed him a grin over his shoulder.
“Well, in going to introduce myself and give my compliments to the chef. Don’t want to be rude!”
Keith groaned and lightly banged his head on his table, cursing everything, especially Pidge. Somehow he knew they had set this up. He was going kill that gremlin. As soon he could get Shiro away from that baker who was throwing Shiro fingers guns along with a smirk. Keith groaned again. He had a feeling he would back to this cafe again. A lot.
Keith doesn't know where his life is taking him. He's floating through it all, taking what he can and trying not to worry about where he'll end up. He knows nothing; not where he wants to be, not who he wants to be, and certainly not how to get there.
All he knows is that when he sees Lance, he feels whole. It might not be in a month, or in a year, but he vows he'll find him again when life isn't so determined to pull them in opposite directions.
A Moment of Pause (Langst fic)
Summary: Short Lance-centric fic. A string of thoughts and Lance is older, read like a shitty poem. 615 words.
That is alright, however. I don’t need that. Nobody needs it. Medals and statues and things that shine are given to people who do good things. But they are just metals melted down and reshaped. That sounds more like me. Maybe I am the trophy, or the one who makes the trophies. No one knows of the man who shapes cheap metals into awards for winners. Maybe I am the hands that present greatness. Maybe I am always meant to be on the side, in the background.
But all of that doesn’t matter. I sit here with my legs outstretched and my eyes closed. I am leaning against cold metal but my insides are still fiery. The adrenaline running through my veins is not potent enough to keep my overworked body erect. My breathing is not heavy but it used to be.
Here is a moment. This moment is still. It exists after I inhaled but have yet to let the breath go. This is a moment of pause.
I do not cry. I have lost things to cry about. That’s not true, it’s more like, I forgot how to cry about them. I cried about being alone. If you asked a bystander, they would say I have cried for more than just being alone. And yes, the subject matter has been variable, but they always relate to the feeling of loneliness. Other words for it are abandonment, isolation, separation. The words are different, but they are all trying to describe the same feeling.
I do not cry. I have already accepted who I am and how the world will treat. I changed a little, however. I stopped pretending. I let myself be tired. I let my shoulders relax. The others called it “growing up”. I guess, in a way, they were right.
I am a leader when I need to be. I am only a leader by default. I have never and will never be elected leader. Not enough would vote for me, even though I am capable.
There is a misconception that I hate myself, or consider myself to be worthless. At a time, that may have been true, but it was long ago. I have moved past that time. This stepping back and letting go is not a resignation of my self worth.
It’s quite the opposite, actually. I stopped trying to be what others wanted. I realized who I was in relationship to this team. I am not the man who gets the glory or the genious or the diplomat. I’m not special in that way. At least, not in this universe. Either way, I accepted my role in the team.
I’m quiet, and I do as I’m told. I’m efficient, and if necessary I can and will take charge. I am a soldier, and I am not in it for the glory. And I keep fighting. Because this is bigger than me. It would be selfish not to do everything to protect the innocent.
Still, I’m tired. I’m so, so tired. There is always more to do. There is never enough time. No time to sleep. No time to go home. I will never go home. No time to doubt. No time to quit. That’s the life I live, and I have accepted that.
In time, I will be forgotten. I have accepted that too.
When Lance is ambushed by a Galra fleet, Blue is temporarily put out of action. Lance is trapped in her cockpit, in deep space, with no communication devices. He's freezing, and his oxygen supply is rapidly dwindling. All he has to accompany him in his urgent situation is the click-clika-tick of a faulty light.
To add to his woes, a flash behind him appears to be the Castle of Lions exploding - with all the other paladins, Coran, and Allura all still inside.
The only thing he has left is hope - that he'll be found, that his space family isn't dead, that Blue will somehow recover and carry him to safety. He just has to keep breathing.
I’m not going to lie to you I am 100% pulling these headcanons from the spam of messages i sent @waywardpadaleski but I saw Voltron Hogwarts AUs floating around and I decided to make headcanons because I love this idea ive also doodled stuff and may post some or write something just not rn
OKAY SO
pretty much the houses just go with their lions— but lance is special snowflake im sorry i know i sound like one of those uber annoying lance stans that shove da boi down everyones throats i cant help it i love him but bare with me this makes sense
Okay so Keith is in Gryffindor because ofc he would
Pidge is Slytherin
Hunk is Hufflepuff
Allura is totally a Ravenclaw
What about Lance, you ask? Well u know how JK Rowling said that there’s things called “Hat Stalls” where people took longer than 5 min to get sorted???
Ye well Lance is one of THOSE
It would work with canon if you think about it because he kinda is stuck between the red lion and the blue lion and like-- I know keef is the same way with the black lion but shush
SO ANYWAYS
the sorting hats dilemma is that he’s smart and has the means to excel in Ravenclaw, but at the same time he’s outrageously brave like a Gryffindor
(MY BOI IS SMART FITE ME)
So the hat doesn’t know what to put him in
Then the sorting hat comes to the conclusion that while he could do great in Ravenclaw, he wouldn’t reach his full potential unless he was a Gryffindor (*COUGH* LIKE CANON)
Sooooo-- Pidge is like a year or two behind Hunk, Lance, and Keith because y’know, shes younger and stuff and she kinda gets into the group because of her older brother
THATS RIGHT MATTS HERE
So Matt is a Ravenclaw and him and Shiro are besties ofc
(Shiros Gryffindor sorry I forgot to mention it)
Matt was also a Hat Stall because when i was thinking about his house i couldn’t decide between Ravenclaw, Slytherin, or Gryffindor
But he’s Ravenclaw cuz it fits in with an Adashi thing im gonna bring up later
ANYWAYS
Shiro is also Keith’s older brother, they’re not biological siblings, its just Keefs dad was friends with shiros parents and when he passed away the Shiroganes adopted him
Shiro is ANNOYED because Keith and Lance are always fighting with each other in the commons and he just wants to read his book in peace
Now here comes the Adashi
Okay okay so Adam is Ravenclaw
I know we barely know anything about Adam (*glares at s7*) BUT based on stuff and how the fanon Adam is, I’m saying he’s Ravenclaw
So anyways
Let’s get to Quidditch because that’s part of the Adashi part of this AU
Keef is a Gryffindor Seeker because like-- he go vroom
I lowkey am making Lance a Keeper not only cuz he would be good at it but also cuz of those cheesy shirts that say things like “He’s a Keeper” and “She’s a Catch”
Shiro is a Chaser
Pidge and Hunk I think would be Beaters???? Idk
OH! James Griffin is also a Slytherin Seeker byeeee
Adam is the Ravenclaw Keeper
Headcanon is if theres one thing Lance and Adam have in common, its that they can make people flustered very easily
So ya know what Adam does, much to Shiro’s annoyance???
He flirts with him
Whenever they have games that are Ravenclaw vs. Gryffindor Adam will flirt with Shiro, winking at him, yelling stuff across the field, making Shiro so flustered he can’t throw straight (pun intended)
One time Adam gets Shiro so flustered he drops the ball
Matt, a Beater, high fives him
OH! Also Allura is a Chaser and she’s like the best Chaser in the school FITE ME
Okay thats enough of quidditch
Okay so as for family lineage and stuff
Shiro, Lance, and Hunk are muggleborns
They just are
Shiro’s parents knew about Magic because of keef and were surprised when they found out Shiro was a wizard
Lance is the only wizard in his family and he gets homesick a lot because he’s the only one who goes to Hogwarts and he misses his siblings and stuff
But he always brings niece and nephew home stuff from Hogsmade that he thinks they’ll like
Hunk, Lance, and Shiro meet because Hogwarts started a club during the summer for Muggleborns where they can meet and talk about concerns with Hogwarts and magic and stuff with other muggleborns that are older
So Lance and Hunk soon become really close friends and Shiro is kinda their advisor and stuff
Anyways
Keith is a Halfblood, which makes sense because i mean he’s half galra on the show so
His mom was a witch, and idk if im going to have her run away for something or die?? I mean I kinda want her to run away cuz of something so they can be reunited but i have no idea what it would be unless this was during the time of harry potter and it had something to do with Voldemort but i kinda want to stay away from all that so ye
Pidge and Matt are purebloods
But they’re not the stuck up purebloods
They’re literally the Weasleys
Sam has a fascination with muggle technology that Pidge and Matt share
So like, they have a lot of fancy tech
Pidge and Matt snuck a DS on campus and play Zelda at meals
Allura is probably a Pureblood but shes way less snooty, maybe even compared to her parents
As for teachers
Coran is Herbology teacher or something???
Alfor is Defense against the Dark Arts maybe??? I don’t know either him or Zarkon
Haggar is obviously the potions teacher
ANYWAYS
Everyone hates Lotor cuz his parents are teachers and he’s a teachers pet
But back to Haggar in potions
So she’s like the slytherin head thing or whatever they were
so yknow she’s biased
and it doesnt help that her son is also slytherin
(also Zarkon is a Gryffindor sorryyyyy)
(This also could play into keith or lance’s story by them being compared to Zarkon or something and it unsettling them)
(This just in-- I think Zarkon should be the voldemort)
(oh shoot im getting sidetracked with imagining zarkon as voldemort and lance as harry potter)
(help)
ANYWAYS
So ofc she sees that Lance and Keith are always at each others throat
and makes them potions partnets
because it makes it easier for them to get in trouble because they keep fighting and then she can take points from gryffindor
ANYWAYS
The one day they are tasked with making Amortentia, right??
Oh god this is so mcfreaking cliche im sorry
So Keef and Lonce are there, both tired from studying or something so already they’re cranky and half asleep
So they’re making the potion right?
And lance just coughs, a look of disgust on his face
“What?” Keef says. Lance plugs his nose.
“U stink, Keith.” And throughout potions class Lance keeps complaining that Keith smells really bad or something or he used too much cologne idk
Ofc like Pidge is in that class and shes snickering
Lance turns to her like “WHAT IS IT PIDGE”
She asks him if he knows what the potion is supposed to do
He’s just like “It makes people fall in love with u.”
“Yes but what else?” Both keith and Lance stare at her blankly. She explains that when u smell it you smell what u love most
Both keef and lances eyes widen
For the first time in forever they’re quite the entire period
Keith has a gay panic
Lance has a bi panic
they are disasters
Shiro confronts pidge after that day
“Pidge what did u do to keef and lonce they’re broken”
Pidge is all like, “Excuse me????”
“They’re being nice to each other.”
Hunk, who is also there, just snorts
“Pls explain this to me,” Shiro says, exasperated
Pidge explains the Amortentia scene
Shiro just laughs because of course they were in love with each other
(it lowkey reminds him of him and Adam)
(okay now i have theories that the reason why they made Adam shiro’s boyfriend is because its meant to mirror OTHER ships in voltron *cough* KLANCE and its foreshadowing or something i mean adam does look like lance and shiro and keith are sorta similar)
(shut up candy back to the AU)
Hunk admits that Lance has had a crush on keeth for like ever but he keeps saying its just a rivalry thing
Actual conversation between the two:
“And what’s up with his hair?? It’s like straight out of the 80′s and he has all the bangs over his eyes like an EMO like why is he trying to hide his eyes?” Lance blushes because he’s thinking about how beautiful Keefs eyes are. “Like why? Why is his hair like that i dont understand?? And what does he do to it why is it so soft???”
“You’ve touched his hair?”
“Yeah I was trying to see if I’m taller than him yet” Hunk was just confused but then Lance kept talking about keiths hair and he let it slip when it was like, almost 3am that keiths hair made him look pretty and lance would never be able to make that look good on himself, then immediately said something about the one time keef blew something up in first year because hes an idiot as a coverup
So hunk has known for some time
Even when lance didn’t know
So for the next couple weeks keith and lance act kinda weird around each other
because they don’t know how to handle feelings
they mostly avoid each other, standing on opposite ends of the room and glaring at each other
but of course that doesnt help them at all because for some reason they share a room
(oh my god they were roommates)
The rest of the boys in the room are angry because of all the sexual tension its giving them anxiety and they started sleeping in the commons
I actually have no idea who the other three boys would be because one of them couldnt be shiro because hes older and everyone else is in different houses so
At one point keith just blurts “Whats wrong with you?”
Lance gets all defensive because he takes it in a different way than Keith meant and thought Keith was saying he was flawed or something and he was broken and...
heres the langst
Lance just starts to get upset and is yelling saying nothing is wrong with him and he almost starts to cry because he’s just so confused and doesn’t know whats going on and he feels like hes not good enough for Gryffindor and
He has a lot of emotions
And he says all this, starting to ramble through tears, pouring all of his emotions out
Keef is shook
he doesn’t know what to do Lance never acted like this in front of him before and he’s never seen lance like this, so self conscious and doubting himself
Keith doesn’t know how lance could even think these things because in his eyes-- lance is perfect
Lance has always been so much better at magic than he was
and He’s so confident and such a good Keeper
He gingerly touches Lance’s shoulder.
“Lance I--” Keith doesn’t know what words to say, but apparently he doesn’t need to say any
Lance wraps his arms around him, burying his face in his shoulder, sniffling
Keith is surprised at first because u know keef
He doesn’t know how to react when someone hugs him
He gently hugs lance back, resting his head on Lances and running his fingers through his hair
Lance calms down, his breathing slowing and seeming more relaxed
when he does, keith tries his best to tell him how great he thinks lance is and how hes jealous and all that
Lance pulls away, rubbing his eyes.
“You mean it?” Keith nods solemnly, not looking at Lance. Lance touches his cheek, causing him to look back up, his brows knit together in confusion
Lance doesn’t know why, but he kisses him
(*klance fangirl in me starts screaming*)
and just??? the moment feels perfect to both of them? This was someone they always thought of as a rival, were always jealous of, and were always thinking about. They never truely understood their feelings for each other, until now
Shiro doesn’t comment when they walk into the dinning hall the next morning holding hands
But Pidge sure does
Okay im trying to think of more headcanons involving people other than Shiro, Keith, and Lance because i love all the characters and they deserve attention
Hunk makes friends with two other Hufflepuff girls
he he he yall know who it is
SHAY AND ROMELLE
MY GURLS
Shay and Romelle have been friends since they were first years and Shay yelled at Lotor for making fun of Romelle
they’ve been besties ever since
Hunk meets Shay and Romelle in Herbology because in like maybe 5th year or something Hufflepuff house was taught Herbology with the Slytherins. Every year before that it was either with Ravenclaw or Gryffindor so he would pair with Lance, Keith, Allura, or Shiro
Pidge was a year or two bellow him so they didn’t have classes together in case u were wondering
For the specific thing they needed a group of three and even though Hunk is a pretty nice guy and can make friends with everyone, everyone sorta had their trio
Because ofc he can find a PARTNER that was left out of their group of three, but suddenly they’re paired off in threes and there’s no sad loner who has no friends.
Shay and Romelle have an opening in their group
Hunk goes to work with them
They’re honestly the cinnamon roll squad and when Hunk introduces them to his friends Lance and Pidge immediately nickname them that
Hunk quickly falls in love with Shay
Like deeply in love
He’s always complimenting her and laughing at what she says
Romelle keeps trying to tell Shay that he likes her but Shay just goes “he’s just a nice person, Elle”
The Yule ball comes around ofc
and at this point Lance and Keith are dating
This is probably around.... Sixth year I want to say?
So here’s the line up
Keith and Lance go to the dance together
Shiro asks Adam in like this grand way and Adam is just like “wait we weren’t going together before??”
Matt doesn’t have a date but he invites Pidge because she threatened him (she wants to take pictures of Klance and Adashi acting cute and coupley to use as blackmail and Matt supports it)
Hunk starts freaking out because he really really really wants to ask Shay but he doesn’t know how
Lance gives him a pep talk, saying that she obviously likes him of course she’ll say yes
Hunk is still nervous
Lance is all like “C’mon asking your crush out isnt that bad if she says no she says no, but if she says yes then you get an awesome date.”
“Says the one who had a crush on his boyfriend since second year and covered it up as a rivalry.” Lance looks offended.
“You need to stop hanging out with Pidge.”
Lance decides to be Hunks wingman and starts asking Shay things like “You planning on going to the Yule Ball?” and “What do you think of Hunk?” He sees that she is very much interested and repots this to Hunk
He helps Hunk come up with a way to ask her
And its like the sweetest thing Romelle is in on it and she gives some stupid excuse as to why she cant study for herbology with them
then her and lance hide behind a bookshelf, giggling
Hunk gets super flustered
But he manages to ask her
Shay also gets really flustered
But says yes
oof okay thats three of my big ships canon now for the fourth.
When Hunk first introduces Allura to Romelle, her first thought is “Her. I want to date Her.”
Now Lance and Allura have already come out to each other as bi disasters
It actually happened when Lance got with Keith and they were talking about him, doing facials (they take care of their skin with each other fite me)
And Lance is just like “Yeah so I guess I like guys and girls” and allura is like “YOU CAN DO THAT” and lance is like “yeah????” and hes not sure if shes being biphobic or what and hes scared for like 0.1 second
and then allura just goes “Oh my god lonce i think i like guys and girls too”
And then they just start laughing
I guess I should also mention that they dated at one point too???
I don’t think it would’ve been super long, but probably around 3rd year they dated and thats actually probably how Allura got introduced to the Squad??
Lance first saw her when he finally joined the Gryffindor Quidditch team
He got picked to be a Keeper the second year
So their first game is against ravenclaw
And he’s pretty good for the most part
And then all of a sudden he sees allura flying towards him and she looks so beautiful and how can she be so beautiful and--
She just scored a goal
and he was staring dumbly at her
So Lance and Allura’s relationship kind of developed like it did in the show with Lance flirting with her and Allura being annoyed to them becoming friends and eventually mutual crush
Allura’s actually the one to ask Lance out
They date for a while and theyre actually a really cute couple
(I may be a hardcore Klancer but I do find Allurlance cute on the occasion)
But after a bit... it kinda fades away?? I don’t know they just start to feel like when they kiss its not... not how they thought it would be??
They slowly start to realize that they kinda just want to be friends, not boyfriend and girlfriend
It just adds stress that they don’t want and they want to be able to tell each other anything without having to worry about stuff
so they break up soon after they start dating
sadly
but they dont?? feel too broken up about it???
The feeling was mutual
Plus they like each other much more as friends than romantic partners
They’re like the ultumate brotp
Now they give each other facials every thursday
anyways
so allura finds out that she has a crush on Romelle
and who does she go to?
Ofc its lance hes a successful bi with a boyfriend
So he pretty much teaches her how to flirt
like seriously he teaches her how to flirt
And Allura makes it her duty to flirt with Romelle at every possibly oppertunity
Making Romelle freak out because how is she supposed to read this does she want to date Allura or????
They don’t really go any further for a while, its just allura slipping in little things every now and again or blowing kisses at romelle in the stands as she scores a goal
When the Yule ball rolls around, both Allura and Romelle dont have dates (Lotor asked Allura to the dance because they kissed one time in a game of spin the bottle and she responded with judoflipping him)
But they have fun
Everyone has fun actually
Its amazing and fluffy
(i feel like i should write a snapshot of this so i can finally write a fic that isnt centered around klance)
And a slow song comes on
Hunk and Shay awkwardly dance with each other, blushing brightly
Lance and Keith have their heads pressed together, Lance kissing Keith’s nose as they dance and making keith so flustered he stumbles and they both fall to the floor laughing
Adam and Shiro are that couple everyone is jealous of because theyre so perfect?? Like they have matching outfits and they dance gracefully and they kiss at just the right moments??
Pidge and Matt are god knows where probably videotaping the whole thing
And Allura kinda jokingly goes, “Well I guess then we should dance too.” And Romelle surprises her by taking her hand, pulling her onto the dancefloor
and freaking allura is actually really flustered and she’s blushing, having a hard time looking at Romelle
(romelle is having a hard time looking at her to fsajndvjhaio)
They’re both blushing.
At the end of the song theyre much closer to each other than they started
They look up at each other
And then Romelle squeezes her eyes tight and kisses allura
It barely lasts for a second
Allura is shook
Romelle is in Lesbian Painc
Allura is in Bi Panic
Nobody seems to have noticed
but both girls are dying
And then allura just timidly asks, “Can you-- can you do that again?”
Pidge walks up to them kissing and just goes, “Oh thank god I thought I was going to have to force you two to kiss”
Because pidge oversees everything and knows everyones crushes that theyre too stupid to see
I feel bad for pidge i don’t really know what big moments she should have???
I feel like shes a trouble maker though
Not like cruel pranks or something
But she likes to play jokes on people
A lot of the times that person is Lance
A lot of the time Keith is in on it
I also feel like eventually Allura and Romelle start to join her??
She recruits them for some big thing
Idk what
Its probably like a surprise for either Klance’s anniversary or Adashi’s
And they love this way of life
Romelle betrays the cinnamon roll squad and goes to the dark side
Also a little more about pidge
She was almost a Hat Stall
Her two houses were Slytherin and Ravenclaw
But at like 4 min and 43 seconds the hat announced slytherin
her family is actually a mix of slytherins and ravenclaws
her dad and brother are ravenclaws
her mom is slytherin
OH AND BEFORE I LEAVE
Lances rivalry with Keith started because Keith bought the last of the candy he wanted on the train
And during like 7th year when they’re cuddling or something and Keith is like “why did u start this rivalry” and lance says it’s because he took the candy and Keith is SHOOK and goes “I would have shared if u asked”
and yeah i may add but heres most of the headcanons i came up with
it’ll also be updating on AO3 if you read on there! the full collection for the stories that’ll be part of this event can also be found here! 😃
Summary: A potential alliance gone wrong lands Lance at the receiving end of a curse that makes him experience unbearable pain whenever he tries to sleep. Unfortunately, trying to shrug it off and deal with it on his own might bring consequences that become too heavy to bear.
Forging alliances usually went smoothly.
It tended to be a simple affair: make contact with a peaceful planet with the intent of bringing them under the protection of Voltron, and then go for a face-to-face meeting once they got approval to land. Some took more persuading than others, having faced the horrific realities of Galra strikes and the Empire's suffocating influence. But most of the time, they came around and things were resolved amicably, sometimes even with a celebration.
Lance found the planet of Xa'Qar nice. Kind of dreary and too warm at first glance, but he thought the tranquil and steady ambience was comforting. It reminded him of days where he napped on the beach back on Earth, the sun soaking warm rays in his skin and the waves crashing in his ears.
He glanced around at the looming tree-like plants that seemed to span the entirety of the area the team was passing through. The Xa'Qans had agreed to meeting for a possible alliance, and Allura had landed the Castle in the one open patch of land they could find closest to the small village the species resided in. The planet was like a big, warm jungle. Except all of the trees were as tall as redwood, and weird yellow ginkgo-looking leaves covered every inch of what would usually be bark.
“These things look like huge, fluffy French Fries,” Lance said, reaching out a hand to gingerly touch the leaves of another tree they passed.
“They are called Zensag.” The Xa'Qan replied. A guide had been waiting for the team at the landing point, calmly greeting them before guiding them down a path towards their civilization. “They grow even without direct care from us, but they provide much to our people. Their leaves are used with other ingredients for effective remedies, their wood helps us create our homes, and they bear fruit that can feed many.”
“They look incredible.” Allura chimed in politely, earning a small nod from the guide.
Lance hummed, lightly bumping shoulders with Hunk once in a while as they walked side-by-side down the path. Shiro, Keith, and Pidge were walking just ahead, but they trekked on silently, too exhausted for small talk. There had been an Galra raid in the middle of the night on a planet not too far from Xa'Qar and two other separate emergencies throughout the day before they'd finally come here in the evening for the alliance talk, leaving most of them running on—at most—5 hours of sleep. No one was really in the mood to expend any more unnecessary energy.
“We are here,” the guide announced, stopping in front of a large arch, a clear division between the end of the forest and the beginning of the Xa'Qan's home. The houses, needless to say, were... yellow. Turns out the wood of the Zensag were as bright as its leaves.
For some reason, the guide chose to wait until they all navigated to the small hut in the heart of the city to announce that the leader preferred to have small company during negotiations, resulting in just Allura and Shiro heading inside to talk. The rest of them were told that they could “explore the village as they wished”, but the guide hesitated for a moment before adding, “we advise that you disregard anything the witch doctor says should she approach you.” They ducked inside the hut before anyone could fully process the statement.
Lance had no idea what they meant, and quite frankly, the words sounded a bit worrying despite the calm and brief manner in which the warning was delivered. How were they supposed to even know who the witch doctor was, anyways? He doubted this planet held the same stereotypical interpretation of what a witch was imagined to look like back on Earth, with her green skin, pointed hat, and smoking cauldron. He leaned over to voice the question to the team, but found that everyone else had already dispersed. Pidge and Hunk were busy fawning over a snack offering of what looked like warm biscuits brought over by a young Xa'Qan, and Keith had opted to linger and keep watch near the leader's hut, so Lance headed over towards a pair of Xa'Qans that were quietly watching under the shade of another home.
“How are you?” He started brightly, keeping what he felt was an appropriate distance for a first encounter. “The name's Lance, also known as the incredible Blue Paladin of Voltron. But the pleasure's mine.”
The pair seemed to neither accept or reject his introduction, simply staring at him with their hazel eyes. All of them seemed to have the same eyes, he realized—piercing but accented against the dark brown of their skin. The only thing that distinguished them—asides from their outfits—were their ears, which looked like the equivalent of large, floppy dog ears that drooped down to brush against the top of their shoulders. The color of their ears seemed to differ with each Xa'Qan, even similar shades having a slightly different hue.
The extended silence had Lance shifting uncomfortably. “Uh, sorry. Was that rude?”
One of the Xa'Qans finally responded with a slight shake of their head, donning a small grin as their gray ears jostled with the movement. “It was not. We have just not met an outsider who acts as... familiarly as you.”
“Oh.” Lance smiled again, the tension in his shoulders receding. “Well, when it comes to making conversation, you can say I'm the best Paladin for the job. Love the planet, by the way. Very, uh, yellow and warm.”
The green-eared Xa'Qan straightened slightly, perking up at his words. “We take very good care of it, and it us. We let the trees grow and prosper throughout the days, and we work in the nights to harvest and collect wood.”
Lance tilted his head. “Wow, busy workers. When do you all sleep, then?”
It was the gray-eared Xa'Qan's turn to puff up their chest, a smug look on their face. “We do not need sleep to function. We are always awake.”
Lance blinked, not sure if he heard right. “You...don't sleep? At all?” His eyes widened at their nods, a smile growing on his own face. “You don't feel tired ever? That's insane! In a good way, I mean!”
“The most exhaustion we will feel is from overwork, but that is easily overcome by sitting for a short time and eating to regain energy.” The green-eared Xa'Qan was speaking animatedly, her eyes shining. “After so many tries, we can finally use every dobash possible to commit ourselves to prospering as a village.”
The question was already lodged in Lance's throat, and he couldn't stop himself from asking. “Wait, 'so many tries'? Does that mean your species wasn't born not needing sleep?”
The conversation reached a lull, neither of the Xa'Qan's scrambling to speak this time. They exchanged a quick glance before the gray-eared one cleared their throat. “You could say it was an...improvement. Our village gained the ability through the mixture of an herbal concoction and some...witchcraft.” Their face grew dark at the last word, and Lance had the nagging sense not to press further on the subject.
But before he could even find a topic to switch to, another voice rang out from the side, low and ragged. “Not witchcraft, but magic.” He glanced over to see a small hooded figure standing a good few feet away, their form hunched and obscuring their appearance completely. “Good magic, bad magic, stolen magic.”
One of the Xa'Qan let out a noise of disgust, and Lance looked to see them already inching away from the newcomer. They met Lance's gaze, giving him a curt nod before turning in the opposite direction. “We will be leaving now. Be well, Blue Paladin.” They left almost too quickly, heading towards the middle of the village where Hunk and the others still were.
Lance stared at their retreating figures, a bit dumbfounded before he blinked and turned back around to see if the figure was still there. They were, and even though their head was ducked, Lance felt like their eyes were trained solely on him. It was an uncomfortable sensation that crawled up his spine like spiders.
“Blue Paladin,” the figure croaked, as if they hadn't spoken properly in ages. “Blue. You are indeed blue. Come a little closer.”
He took a step forward reflexively before freezing, a bit of uncertainty tickling his chest. “Uh, are you... Are you the witch doctor?”
“I am no witch.” The form hissed, practically bristling under the large robe. “I am a doctor, yet they call me a witch. Even though they live this way due to me.”
'Disregard anything the witch doctor says should she approach you', the guide had said.
Lance shifted his weight from side to side, not knowing how to exactly approach the situation. After a few seconds, he opted to smile, trying to look as friendly as he could. “Okay, doctor it is. I'm guessing you mean you were the one who helped them achieve this 'no sleep needed' thing?”
For a moment, the figure didn't respond. But then she straightened up, letting her hood fall back to reveal an aged face lined with wrinkles and black ears. Even with that appearance, Lance had a feeling that she was even older than she seemed. But what unsettled him the most was her expression. It was angry, haunted, bitter—a stark contrast from the peaceful and quiet vibe the other Xa'Qan's gave off.
“Yes. My biggest accomplishment, my biggest mistake.” She growled, creeping closer. Lance fought down the urge to back away, although he was ready to bolt for it if things got out of hand. “Do not trust this village. They took everything from me for themselves.” She was right in front of him now, her height just barely reaching up to his chest.
“Lance, whatcha doing over there?” Hunk's voice drifted in before he draped an arm over Lance's shoulders, happily oblivious. “Look, you gotta try this Zensag bread. I swear it tastes like oatmeal cookies.” His voice tapered off for a second, realizing Lance hadn't been alone. “Oh. Hello.”
Lance took the bread from Hunk's hand, choosing to save it for later. “Thanks, buddy. This is, uh, the village doctor? Hey, did you know that they don't—”
“What do you seek on this planet?” The Xa'Qan cut in, voice low.
The question threw both Lance and Hunk for a loop. Lance couldn't tell if that was supposed to be a trick question, or if she genuinely had no idea why they were here.
Hunk recovered first, a confused noise at the back of his throat. “Um, Voltron's alliance with this planet, I guess? I mean, the Princess and our leader are still in talks with your leader, but yeah.”
The witch-doctor's eyes flashed, an almost deadly look creeping across her face. “You wish to ally with this village? They will only take. Never give. Bad beings. If you negotiate with them, you are no better than they.”
Lance straightened up slightly, suddenly glad Hunk was there with him as support. “Look, I don't know what you have against the village, but Voltron just wants to provide protection for the planet should it ever come under threat by the Galra.” He could feel Hunk's hand still on his shoulder, the slight anxiety dancing off his fingertips. “We fight the bad guys, defend the universe, all that jazz.”
Apparently, that was the wrong thing to say, and her face twisted into one of raw anger. “You wish to protect them? Then you are even worse.” Her hand whipped out, reaching for Lance's wrist. “You will regret saying such vile words.”
Her fingers had barely brushed the top of his armor, and it should have been impossible for him to feel the fleeting contact at all. But he felt it, a slight twinge sparking across the area like a burst of static electricity, as if she'd touched his bare skin. It wasn't painful, but Lance jerked his arm back in surprise. Hunk jumped at the movement, already stepping backwards as he used his arm to drag Lance with him.
“Uh, I think I hear our teammates calling us.” Hunk laughed nervously, voice high. “We'll be leaving now.”
The witch-doctor said nothing as Hunk led Lance away, although the boiled anger in her gaze already spoke plenty. Lance finally forced himself to turn around, swallowing down the mild panic that had been rushing up his throat as they reached the front of the leader's hut again. Keith was still propped against the yellow home, arms crossed and a bored expression on his face. He raised an eyebrow when the two approached, but he said nothing as Hunk came to a stop, letting out a large sigh.
“That was... kinda creepy.”
Lance nodded, the spot on his armor that the Xa'Qan had touched feeling...oddly exposed, even though his armor was still fully covering what it should. He couldn't understand why she'd been so angry, but suddenly, this planet started feeling a bit more unpleasant than peaceful.
There was movement out of the corner of his eye before someone snatched at the bread that had still been lying in Lance's hand. He glanced over to catch Pidge shoving the last few bits into her mouth, a triumphant grin on her face.
“You snooze, you lose. Should've eaten it when you had the chance.” She sing-sang. Her smile faltered slightly when she caught Lance's expression. “Did something happen?”
A door opened before he could reply, and all eyes landed on Allura and Shiro as they made their way back out of the hut. Allura was smiling, but the strain in it was poorly hidden. Shiro hadn't even bothered, looking more than a bit disgruntled as he followed behind her. No Xa'Qan accompanied them out.
“Paladins,” Allura started, her voice excessively upbeat. “Let us head back to the Castle. We will debrief once we've taken off.”
From the looks of it, the talks clearly didn't go well. Everyone followed along silently, and Lance took a chance to see if the witch-doctor was still there as they headed back towards the forest. She wasn't.
By the time everyone had filed into the Castle, Allura had stopped looking cordial, a scowl on her face as she set the ship for a course back up into space. They were gathered on the bridge, standing awkwardly with Coran as they waited for a sort of explanation, one Shiro clearly wasn't tripping over himself to offer.
“So...” Hunk said slowly. “The alliance...?”
“Is not happening.” Allura answered flatly. “Our ideals and methods simply did not align, so it was bound to not reach fruition.” She turned around at the heavy silence, an apologetic smile on her face. “Do not be too down. Our goal is still the same. We will continue to expand Voltron's protection with planets that seek our help. We are not guaranteed to be accepted by all of them.”
“The Princess is right,” Coran piped up brightly. “We've all had a long day, I think we all deserve a good rest for now. Good work today, Paladins.”
The team mumbled in acknowledgment before they all headed towards the kitchen for some food. They'd been so busy that they'd barely eaten all day. But somehow, Lance somehow didn't feel that hungry. His mind kept flashing back to that witch-doctor, so resentful and overflowing with anger. His wrist tickled again, but he ignored it.
That night, Lance woke up to the worst pain he'd ever experienced in his life. It was like knives scraping at the insides of his body, the pain radiating throughout so violently it jolted him out of the slow tendrils of sleep in an instant. He pushed himself upright, practically tearing both the eye mask and headphones off and tossing them to the side in his panic. What was hell?
His head felt like it was threatening to split open any second, not helping the almost burning sensation that was dragging across the rest of his body. But as soon as it started, it seemed to ebb away, like a slow and receding tide. He doubted it at first, thinking that the pain was just so great it was numbing out his senses, but no, it was definitely going away. It didn't take more than 30 seconds before Lance was sitting in the dark with nothing but a cold sweat and slight shudders that ran down his skin with each heavy breath. His throat felt raw. Had he screamed? He couldn't remember.
Blue was fuzzy in his mind, her concern washing over him. He glanced down, placing a shaky hand against his chest where the pain had felt the greatest. Then checked under his shirt to make certain that he didn't actually have some sort of injury. There was nothing, and Lance was starting to think he just had some sort of crazily realistic nightmare. That had to be it—there was no other explanation.
His heart rate was still well above the norm by the time he'd retrieved his eye mask and Pidge's headphones (they hadn't broken, thankfully—Pidge would've killed him), and he opted for a few breathing exercises before he let himself lie back down.
The second time around, he woke up to the same excruciating pain almost immediately, and this time he didn't even have the energy to sit up and recover his senses. He pressed his face against the pillow, screaming into it as his hands gripped at the fabric so tightly it might have torn. But the same thing was happening. The moment his mind began to jolt awake and reorient itself, the pain was already beginning to fizzle out like a dying flame. Only when it seemed to have completely disappeared did he finally release his death grip on the pillow, rolling onto his side. The headphone pressed uncomfortably against his ear, and he took them off a bit more gently this time, placing them next to him as he removed the eye mask and blinked blearily at his darkened room.
Something was wrong. He had no idea what was going on. Was he sick? He felt fine now, though. Shaken up, but fine. He pushed himself upright again, pressing his hands gingerly against his stomach. Felt it rise with each unsteady breath he took. Why did he feel so normal now? All he could remember was waking up both times to—
He blinked. Now that he thought about it, the pain left nearly as soon as he woke up. As if it only seemed to trigger once he fell asleep. A shudder passed through his body, settling into an uneasy weight in his chest. That almost sounded like a curse...
An image of the witch-doctor flashed through his mind for a quick second, but he swallowed down the sudden panic. No, he was overthinking this. It sounded crazy. It was crazy. Even still, his stomach lurched at the idea of trying to go to sleep again, of having to relive that sort of rude awakening a third time.
He didn't sleep that night, sitting against the wall of his bed as he thought about blue oceans and orange sunsets.
                                                        (Hour 28)
All-nighters never came easy for Lance. Sleep was important—vital—both for healthy skin and a healthy mind. If given the chance, Lance avoided all-nighters like the plague. Usually, it never came to that extreme, and he always managed a few hours of sleep in between late night Galra attacks and distress calls from nearby planets. But as morning crept around, Lance wondered how Pidge managed all of her sleepless nights. His body felt particularly heavy as he slumped against the wall, wishing he could sink into his bed and be wrapped into a warm cocoon. It was so tempting, the idea of curling back under the blankets and drifting off, even though it was the completely wrong time to do so.
Lance sighed, pushing himself onto his feet as he rubbed at his eyes. The room's lights felt brighter than usual—he'd turned them on halfway through the night to keep himself awake—and he trudged to the bathroom with heavy steps.
What was wrong with him? He had no idea, and he had no idea how to explain to anyone if he tried to bring it up. He hurt whenever he tried to fall asleep? He didn't know how to describe it if anyone asked; the sensation felt too visceral in a way that words seemed to fall short of portraying it accurately. Maybe it was just a psychological thing. But how does he fix something like that?
He figured it might wear off. He hoped, at least. Then maybe later through the day, he'd be able to nap without any of his current worries. It sounded optimistic, almost too optimistic, but Lance was desperate for anything that would help him get through the day. Hopefully they wouldn't have to do anything that required a lot of concentration—he could barely focus on one thing at a time.
After he'd gotten ready and headed down for breakfast, he wasn't surprised to see he was the last one to arrive. The others were already seated, in various stages of finishing their bowl while they shared idle chatter amongst themselves. Hunk was the first to catch his eye when he walked in, his smile slipping into something more concerned by the time Lance got close enough to slide into the seat next to him.
“Dude...” Hunk started hesitantly. “You look kinda...”
“Terrible?” Lance supplied, eyes shut as he slumped against the chair. “Worse for wear? Like a dried up plant?”
There was a small clatter, and Lance peeked an eye open to see Hunk grabbing a bowl that Shiro passed over the table before placing it in front of his seat. “Yeah, basically,” Hunk said, a slight grin on his face. “Trouble sleeping last night?”
The question brought back the current reality of his situation back with startling clarity, jerking Lance out of his drowsiness. He straightened up, grumbling as he reached for the bowl of space goo. “Don't get me started. I didn't sleep at all.”
Across the table, Pidge made a slight noise, almost surprised. “You pulled an all-nighter? That's new.” She'd already finished her bowl, one hand propping her head up as she stared at him lazily. One look was enough for him to tell that she didn't get much sleep, either. Although that was probably out of poor life choices, not whatever he was dealing with. “What were you doing up?”
Lance picked at his bowl, his appetite failing to rouse him enough to eat. He could hardly remember last night, his memory a blur of bright lights and hazy thoughts. It was exhausting just to try and recall the past few hours, so he gave up, opting to focus on the weird texture of the food in his bowl as he mixed the spoon around. It was gross, but it kept him awake.
“Uh, hello?” Hunk's voice suddenly cut in, and Lance startled at the hand waving in front of his eyes. “Earth to Lance? Don't tell me you fell asleep.”
Lance blinked, looking up to see the rest of the table had quieted down, all staring at him after Hunk's question. He felt the heat rising to his face, shaking his head as he sat up, the spoon all but abandoned in his bowl. “I didn't, I was just... thinking. I probably just had trouble sleeping because I wasn't feeling that great last night.”
Hunk's brow furrowed, eyes scanning even more closely. “Maybe you're sick?” He raised a hand towards Lance's forehead. “Do you have a fever?”
Lance batted the hand away, clicking his tongue. “I'm fine. No fever. Not sick. Nada. Don't mind me.”
“We will be training around one varga after we finish eating and preparing,” Allura said, watching him carefully. “Are you sure you will be alright?”
Just the thought of having to train had his body groan with exhaustion, but Lance forced himself to nod, a tight smile on his face. “Don't worry, Princess. Nothing I can't handle. Appreciate the concern, though.”
He was glad no one pressed much further, although Lance grew acutely aware of the subtle glances people threw his way, as if they were expecting him to fall asleep in his food. Not a far off possibility, but Lance wasn't going to let that happen. The last thing he needed was to wake up screaming in the middle of breakfast and freak everyone out. So Lance ignored the fatigue pressing at the back of his eyes, shoveling down a few spoonfuls of food at Hunk's insistence.
He'd deal with it after training.
Prompts that I’m not able to use
These are prompts that I have been sent that I will not be able to use for various reason (either I’m not comfortable, it’s too similar to something I’ve done before, I don’t have enough inspiration, etc) so I’m posting them here so that anyone may be able to use them, all you have to do is tag me and include the number of the prompt you’re using!
1.  Everyone is on a planet for some alliance and someone gave Lance a potion to make him act the complete opposite of what he usually does but he doesn't know that. Later on when all of them are back on the ship they're all shocked by Lance's sudden change of behavior. He's not flirting, he's not making jokes, he's just rude and is always scowling. He doesn't smile or listens to anyone at all. What happens next and how he gets cured is up to you but, maybe some klangst too?
2.  Lance has cancer. Hides it. Collaspes (or tells Shiro in secret...).
3.  Hey. What if. Robo arm lance
4.  Prompt where Lance is having a panic attack and everyone, expect Pidge, kinda just brushes it off like "Nah fam, you playing it up." Pidge comes up to him like protecting him.
5. something where Lance runs out of meds / doesn't have his meds when he goes into space. It can be for anything physical or mental.
6.  keith being a smartass and pretending to be lances boyfriend when he's flirting with girls so he never gets a gf but then they actually fall in love ? thanksssa
7.  Sorry to bother but could u do one where Keith and Lance are secretly dating and it all started with them helping each other out with their traumatic past (Keith, foster care?) And depression (Lance, Self-injury disorder?) That led to something more.
8.  What about a langst where Lance and Keith both get hurt, but Lance plays it off, despite Keith telling everyone he needs help. In reality, there's a great big gash along his hip, but tells them all it's Keith's blood. Everyone rushes to help Keith, and when Keith wakes back up, he finds Lance in his bed, barely alive because no one has checked on him?
9.  Maybe something like where everything is the same but Lance isn't a part of voltron (Allura can pilot Blue or whatever you want) because he killed himself when he was a cadet at the garrison. One day Shiro makes some joke about the 'kid who offed himself at the Garrison before he went to kerberos' or something equally awful and Hunk loses his shit because Lance was his best friend!
10.  Lance being alone hiding from enemies and unable to hear the others but they can hear him crying and calling himself stupid and useless for getting caught?
11. Lance having an epileptic fit whislt flying his lion or Lance getting impaled
12.  Lance has been captured by the Galra. The Galra have found the Paladins weak spot (Earth), have a live connection set up to all electronic devices and they torture Lance to force the UN to make some sort of agreement. Every 3hrs they don't have a response, they turn on camera and torture him. Worst and worst each time. While this happens his fam is watching and panic is spread throughout the population, VLD is trying to find him as well.
13.  Lance finding a strange flower or something that makes him tell the truth. He tells his true feelings to Keith, but the object has to stay on Lance at all times or he'll die, even though it's already sucking at his life source.
