Vēṭkai (Part -2)
Tumblr media
Third Person POV
'Children, please stop running' a soft voice said to the hyperactive kids making their parents reach old age very quickly.
'Arun! Kundavai! listen to your mother!' a strong voice shouted at his beloved kids who froze in their spot and giggled at their father's antics to make them obey. But it worked, as they ran towards their heavily pregnant mother and hugged her belly.
'You should be resting' said the man and smiled softly at his wife with so much love.
'Well, of course, I should be as you are the one who made me heavily pregnant for the third time' She said with a smirk. and the kids again started to play with each other.
'Well you were not complaining when I made you pregnant' He whispered to her which resulted in him being whacked at his chest for being profound in front of their children.
They both laughed and she laid her head against his chest. As she traced patterns at the top of his shirt she stared at the place where there is a huge scar that sits on top of his left chest area, which is visible and can be peeked through the shirt.
Memories rushed towards her and she still remembered the day it happen just like yesterday.
Nandhini POV
A huge gasp left my mouth and my eyes opened up only to be blinded by lights. All the events that had happened flashed through my mind and I abruptly get up to see where I am.
'Shh! Take it easy. Don't get up too fast' A voice said while holding me. I am not sure what they are saying but my trembling self said to be calm. But my mind went into a frenzy again thinking of ilavarasar Karikalan, and he is nowhere to be seen.
'கரிகாலரே! எங்கே இருக்குறீர்கள்?'(Karikalar! Where are you)My voice started to get louder as I whipped my head right and left, the more I search the more scarier I got. This place is weird and filled with things I can't understand.
'Karikalan? Is the one who was with you?' An elderly woman in front of me asked, she looks divine and had this sense of calmness towards her. But I still can't understand what is she saying. Am I a different kingdom? That couldn't be possible cause the last thing I remember being fallen off the cliff and holding on to my love. How am I even alive? But I can here her saying Karikalan's name so she might have known him so I nodded my head hoping I got what she asked me right.
'You can understand me, right? ok let me try in Tamizh, Unga per enna?' Her words made me tilt my head, I can partially understand the last bit she spoke. Was it Tamizh? but not exactly the same. But I can get from that that she is asking my name.
I pointed at me and said 'எந்தன் பெயர் நந்தினி ஆகும் ' (My name is Nandhin)I said hoping she got it and she did. So I wanted to ask her about Karikalar.
'கரிகாலர் எங்கே? அவரை நான் காணவேண்டும்'(Where is Karikalar? I want to see him) At this moment I am desperate to know whether he is safe or not. But the look on the face of the woman before me changed. As she tried to comprehend what I told her.
'shhh, shh, ok ok,' She said and tried to action me to calm down, and I suddenly felt a stinging pain in my stomach only to check that the wound is stitched up, it was killing me. Before I ask again I saw an elderly man walking inside, who looks muscular and tall. He doesn't look like a person from Chola Desam, definitely, we are in some other kingdom. But it's a good thing if so, as here we at least have some time before anyone knows who we are.
'Oh, you are awake! How are you feeling' Again with the language I can't understand, what is it!! My confusion made him quickly ask the same thing in somewhat Thamizh which I understand partially.
'Neenga 2 varama ah coma la irukeenga, you should take rest' His words are jumbled for me. 2 varam?
As if they can understand my feelings they nodded their heads. They asked to sit me on a chair with wheels, woah and it can move. It's so strange but I am glad that I don't have to walk as the pain when I felt while standing up was so intense. As they went from one room to another and end up in a room that was similar to mine. There he was in the middle of the bed sleeping. With their broken Tamizh they explained to me that he was also in a coma for the past two weeks and hope will be waking up soon.
I just sat next to him and held his hand close to my chest and prayed to Krishna just asking him to help him. Help my Prince.
Three weeks later
It's been three weeks since I woke up in this strange place, over this period I learned that the elderly couple whose names are (Bala and Shubha) saw us injured at the bottom of what they called Kolli malai, As they are both local physicians and help poor people around the native are they made sure to take us to their home. Through them, I learned that currently, it's the year 2013 and that news made my head spin. As I see them as my parents cause of the way they treated me I entrusted them with my identity. But it was very difficult cause they don't understand my pure Tamil but we came up with a pattern and I am learning their language as well. And also it made them stop informing the Police cause they think that would be best for us until we come up with a plan.
As they don't have any children they are glad that they have someone in the house as the age as their children if they had one.
For the past these weeks I sat next to him, my love hoping that he wake up soon, but each day passed with no improvement. But Appa Bala says to not lose hope.
'Aazhi Mazhai Kannaa
Ondru Nee Kai Karavel
Aazhiyul Puku
Muganthu Kodaarththeri
Oozhi Mudhalvan Uruvampol
Meikaruthu
Paaliyanth Tholudaip
Padpanaban Kaiyyil
Aazhipol Minni
Aazhipol Minni
Valampuripol Nindrathirnthu
Thaazhaathey Saarngam
Uthaitha Saramazhaipol
Tears slipped from my eyes and my lips tremble, I just don't know what else I should do. I closed my eyes and sang those again and again. Suddenly I left someone touching my cheeks. My eyes flew open to see Karikalan now wiping my tears off and smiling at me. I couldn't stop my tears I just never thought I would see this day, hoping we would be together.
Vaazha Ulaginil
Peithidaai Naangalum
Maargazhi Neeraada
Magizhnthelo Rembaavaai'
'ஒருவழியாக நீ எனக்காக ஒரு பாடல் பாடிவிட்டாய்'(After all this time, you have finally sang for me) His words made me laugh.
A few months later
Karikalan had a very hard time for the first few weeks to live this new life in this new era. He couldn't believe that there is no Chola desam and that they were defeated long back. His anger and cries worried Bala and Shuba but they tried their best to make us comfortable. We are not sure how we can repay them.
Currently, we are in Thanjai as now it comes under Tamilnadu and the country they call is India.
'இச்சிறப்பான கோயிலை எழுப்பியது எம் தமையனா?'(Is it really my younger brother was the one who made this beautiful temple?)Tears fell from his eyes as he traced Arunmozhi's name which was mentioned as Raja Raja Cholan. He doesn't want to leave cause this is the place that was made by his brother.
A year later
Right now we are getting comfortable in this place, we tried to visit Kadambur but nothing helped us to go back, so we rested the case and accepted that here we live, We have also been customed to technology and we are so fascinated.
After nearly a year later discovering us in a tragic state, Bala and Shuba made sure to get us IDs which they use here to identify themselves.
It was hard but they had some influence. We also learned modern Tamil along with English to communicate. We both were healed and in good health now. Karikalan started working in a nearby school as a martial teacher and I conduct a singing class. Mostly they are thanking my Krishna who guided us to this life.
Sometimes I get fright that all these are just a mere dream and I will be waking up to reality. But if it was a dream then I don't want to wake up at all.
Three years later (2017 - almost 2018)
It was that windy night Karikalan asked me to marry him. At first, I don't know whether I should say yes or no. As I am already a married woman and it was considered a shame back from where we came from. But in reality, we are thousands of years into the future and it doesn't matter now.
With a peak in a cheek and caress to his chin I sealed my lips to his, answering his question without a word. That night turned into one of the most beautiful nights when we have become one together. We do not know whether it is the wind or the smell of the sand or the calmness inside the house where Shuba and Bala went for a vacation leaving us alone or just the desperation of wanting to feel the feeling of being touched by love.
His strong arms caged me and lifted my hips and meet me at the right spot each time. Moans erupted throughout the room making it sound like a melody of love. Throughout our love making we didn't look away from each other, nor we can.
At the final snap of the hips, my vision got white and his lips sealed mine drinking away my muffled moans. We both are full of each other.
And it continues way more than once. As we got married a few months after, Karikalan made sure we mate like bunnies in a mating season and made sure I got pregnant and I did.
10 Months later
With heavy breaths leaving my mouth and sweat building up, it was then our first baby, our beautiful baby boy came to this world. As others laid him on top of my breast tears of joy fell down. All the pain I felt doesn't matter now and I will go for thousand times again and again if needed.
We know what we are going to name him and KArikalan asked me about the name I would definitely want him to have the name of the most generous, powerful warrior/King who ever lived, Arunmozhi.
'வாழ்க பல்லாணடு எம் இளவரசே அருண்மொழி'(Long live the prince, Arunmozhi) Karikalan sang and I smiled at the scene to capture it on my memory forever.
A year later
It was the end of 2019 and we welcomed our second child, our baby girl who we named Kundavai. Yes even though I had some spats with real Kundavai I always admired her and what else I can ask in a girl who can be filled with knowledge, administrative thinking, and beauty as this world has never seen.
And yes, Karikalan couldn't help wanting to mate again and again. God, I am not sure how this man ever lived without having it for most of his life back then.
Present day - 2023
Third Person POV
Nandhini let out a giggle after thinking about how their life turned into heaven and how their family is shaping up.
She lightly kisses up the scars that sit on top of Karikalan's chest as he kissed her head.
'So what we are going to name the one which looks like will be popped out any day' He asked and gently massaged her hips. A silent moan left Nandini's lips as the sensation felt wonderful.
She smiled and thought, She really wanted to carry the name of her mother, the name Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan mentioned. And she has a feeling that this one also be a girl.
'How about Mandakini' She answered to which Karikalan smiled and nodded.
'But we still have to have one more so we can name him Vanthiyadevan' He said and wiggled his eyebrow.
Arunmozhi who is currently five years turned around as he heard the name he always loved. His father always mentioned his friend Vallavarayan Vanthiyadevan.
'Are we going to have Vanthiyadevan also? Yes!!' The child laughed and hugged his sister who currently didn't understand what it is at the tender age of 3 1/2 but laughed along with her brother.
@vibishalakshman  @thatacademic @thelekhikawrites
They have it all and they also have parent figures who made sure to help them on every step. As the family enjoyed it appears to be the start of the Chola bloodline that again will raise to his power one day. One can hope, can't we?

Excerpt From
Ponniyin Selvan Anaithu Pagangal (Tamil Edition)
Kalki
This material may be protected by copyright.
Context: After Ravidasan’s reveal that he and his compatriots are Veera Pandiyan’s Abhathudavaigal, Vandiyathevan replies that Veera Pandiyan is dead as Aditha Karikalan triumphed over him. This is Ravidasan’s reply to that.
“How did he win (over Veera Pandiyan?) Because of a young girl’s foolishness. She had far too much belief in the power of her web of allure. She believed that she could make that snake of the Chozha clan dance to her tune. The snake did dance its dance. However, it showed the power of its venomous fangs as well. Our King’s head rolled in the sand. They carried it all the way to Thanjavur. They mounted his head on a palanquin and showed it to one and all. Aha! Thanjavur! Thanjavur! See what state that city will fall too, brother!”
It is clear that Ravidasan and his men blame Nandini for their King’s death, that they were about to put her to death because of this until she swore to avenge the King and made sure Pazhuvettarayar was enamoured of her to further their goals, Ravidasan says as much after this snippet. How much of Nandini’s actions are born out of compulsion? Of the fear that she’d perish otherwise? This does bear giving some thought to.
Today’s snippet. Tagging @whippersnappersbookworm @celestesinsight @mizutaama @thereader-radhika @harinishivaa @thelekhikawrites @themorguepoet @willkatfanfromasia @deadloverscity @racoonpaws and @humapkehaikaun

Thiruvilaiyadal - Part 1
As a movie buff, one of my core memory is seeing old classical Tamil films with my Amma. She made sure I saw all of her favorites and some of the 60s/70s classics.
Every summer holiday is filled with stories of old Tamil Puranas from my Appa and asking all the pieces of information and questions. And my interest in the Tamil language grew as I become older and thanks to all my Thamizh teachers who made the class so interesting with all the Tamil literature at school.
Everyone around me used to ask why I am into Puranas and literature when the modern world is thriving outside, but all I know was that my soul wanted more and more.
One such moment which captured my heart throughout was the movie 'Thiruvilaiyadal'.
Thiruvilaiyadal (Leelas in Sanskrit) is viewed to be one of the 18 thalapuranas. It is also revered as one of the Mahapuranas (Periya Puranam – the right eye of Shiva, Thiruvilaiyadal Puranam – the left eye, and Kanda Purana – the third eye). It was authored by Saint Paranjothi, estimated 300 years ago. It narrates the 64 Tiruvilayadals, loosely translated as the "playful miracles of god (Shiva) himself".
One such Thiruvilaiyadal of the god Siva was with Nakkeranar or Nakkerar. Nakkerar was a Post Sangam Tamil poet who wrote Thirumurukāṟṟuppaṭai.
The below poem is part of Kurunthogai, which was written by Irayyanar( God Shiva himself)
Translation: O! Honey bee with beautiful wings, you live drinking nectar from selected flowers, tell me without bias look at my friend who resembles a peacock in beauty have you seen any flower that smells better than her hair?
The story goes as when ShenbagaPandiyan had a doubt regarding the scent of female hair and announced whoever clarify that doubt through poem/the best will be awarded 1000 gold coins. Dharumi was a poor poet who struggles for money went to lord shiva for help, lord Siva came in the guise of a poet and helped him with this poem. The king was happy that it solved his doubt as it says the women have naturally scented hair.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Scene 1: Siva introduces himself as a Tamil poet. Scene 2: Dharumi doubts him and asks God Siva who is in disguise questions to prove his knowledge.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Scene 4: Dharumi apologizes for doubting God's knowledge Scene 5: Dharumi gets the poem from god Siva and goes to present it before Pandya king.
When he was about to be awarded the Nakkerar the head poet of the Tamil Sangam stopped him, saying that the poem had a lot of mistakes, and denied the award and asked Dharumi to improve the poem. Dharumi went to lord shiva and told the same, lord shiva got angry that Nakkeerar found fault in his poem and went to an assembly and challenged Nakkeerar. But Nakkerar was not moved. Shiva asked Nakkerar if even the hair of the goddess did not have a natural hair scent?! Nakkerar asserted that it was so.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Scene 6: God Siva shows his true form by opening his third eye. Scene 7: Nakkerar, now sees who is in front of him, even then he went on to say that a mistake is a mistake.
Shiva opened the third eye and was furious even then Nakkerar stood his ground, this shows his love for Tamil and shows the poet who he was. As he could not bear the scorching heat emanating from the divine eye he jumped into the water of the Golden Lotus Tank. Then at the request of the other poets, the Lord took Nakkeerar out of the tank and forgave him.
And that is how the story ends. Literally, nobody ever played God Siva more perfectly than Sivaji in Tamil cinema. As his name suggests he lived as God Siva. I wish I could able to translate the dialogue portion that happens at this part. But the sweetness and raw poetic Tamil lines could never be done justified during the transition.
I have to thank @themorguepoet for reminding me or taking me back to my memory where I cherish this classic with your post before.

I finished watching Ponniyin Selvan I and I must say Mani Ratnam has once again nailed in uplifting female narratives in his stories. The women in his films have always had a cryptic humanity, a grey area where feminine beauty and empathy collide with masculine shrewdness or bravery.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Queen of Pazhuvur, wife of Lord Chieftain Paravutheyyar, Nandini Devi, born of Vira Pandiyan and his noble wife Mandakini Devi or Oomai Rani, has everything and then absolutely nothing in her. Her beauty begets envy even from an apsara princess Kundavai herself, and yet most people cannot see beyond her outer beauty. In her own husband's words, "her beauty veils her intelligence". She is hungry for revenge, yet another attempt of clutching at the ends of the burnt fabric of Pandyan legacy. She manipulates all men who fall prey to her beauty, however her lust for the great Chola throne has no real basis. Queen in her own right who made her way into royal compounds where from she was unfairly ousted even before stepping in, and yet hollow shell of a woman with a copper heart unlike the gold her husband adorns her in. A quiet vaishnavitic rebel sitting in the lair of ruthless shaivites.
Aishwarya has eyes that speak even as she herself does not. And yet her Nandini has near emotionless eyes, apart from the scene where her lust for the throne is shown to make her eyes gleam for a brief moment, as if she was second away for salivating. Nandini is fascinating, and yet, much like Aditya Karikalan, her former lover, pitiful.
The crown has weight and the only rightful can bear it.

Avalai Marakathaan
Her scream still echoed in his ears.
.
.
.
"vendam.....I beg of you, spare him"
But at that moment, Aditha was deaf to Nandini's pleadings. He was blind to her, begging at his feet, with folded, blood ridden hands.
His mind was clouded. Clouded by the fact that she had gotten over him. Clouded by the fact that she was in love with another man.
Veera Pandiyan lay on the cot, blood oozing out of his wounds, clinging to every millimetre of his body. With his breath beggining to run shallow, his eyes blurry, he faintly managed to call Nandini.
Ah, to hear her name, burnt his heart.
But hearing Veera Pandiyan say it burnt his soul. A soul he had considered lost when he was seperated from Nandini.
Before he himself could fully comprehend what he was doing, Aditha had strode forward and slit Veera Pandiyan's throat. Blood splattered all around the hut. It splattered on his skin and armour, quenching his thirst for revenge.
For a split second, he felt at peace which immediately turned into regret as he heard Nandini whimpering on the floor.
Her scream still echoed in his ears.
Her silhouette trembled, blood sprayed over her face. She had slouched down to her knees, falling on to her side.
"How could you forget about me Nandini?" Asked Aditha, still looking at Veera Pandiyan's corpse. He had finally begun to let his emotions surface. "How could you forget about me, our love? Was it even love? Or was it just so you could ascend the throne and become Thanjai Illaya Rani?"
Her eyebrows furrowed and eyes widened. "Why would you say something like that?" Nandini asked after a long pause.
"How could you fall in love with Veera Pandiyan!" Aditha exclaimed turning around in rage "or was that another play too, to get access to royalty?"
Nandini rose slowly, her body still shaken by the incident that had just taken place. She stared into Aditha's eyes for a minute and sighed, still maintaining eye contact.
"He was like a father to me Aditha. He took me in, gave me food, shelter and most of all, dignity."
The regret had now turned into guilt. His mental state had manipulated the situation.
"How could I ever forget you Aditha?"
Aditha looked back at Nandini, but this time he saw the old Nandini. The Nandini he'd take on horseback rides. The Nandini he'd lurk around the temples to see. This time there was a glimmer in her eyes, a slight smile on her lips.
She still loved him.
Maybe he'd be forgiven for the sin he had just committed.
He took one step closer to her, but she stepped back. Aditha looked confused.
He saw a tear trickle down Nandini's cheeks. A tear as red as blood. He tried to wipe it, when Nandini drew out her dagger. He stopped in his tracks. Her lotus like eyes looked weary, her delicate milk like skin was coated in blood, her hands which held garlands of flowers now held a dagger.
That is when it struck Aditha. Nandini had changed. And it was all because of him. She had turned into a snake, but it was he who had provided the poison.
His eyes burnt, facing the reality.
He could see the life he had imagined with Nandini burning in flames. Aditha heaved once and then again, before he dropped to the ground and began sobbing.
"Lets run away Nandini. Run away from all this mess. Run away where it's only you and me" asked Aditha with the final little hope he had.
"I can't Aditha. We can't. This was never meant to be" Nandini had completely broken down. That scarred Aditha. To him, he was always meant for her and she for him, since childhood.
Aditha was no longer the warrior who had killed thousands and conquered hundreds of kingdoms. He had crashed to the ground, trying to convince the love his life to run away with him.
For a second their eyes met, and suddenly they knew. They knew just what they hadn't known until that moment.
One arrow came through, and then another. In a second's time Nandini's body lay on the floor.
Aditha's body froze for a second before he frantically crawled to Nandini. Her body lay limp in the pool of blood. He took her into his arms, shook her and screamed to her in an attempt to bring her to consciousness. But she was gone.
"Karikalar is safe! He's well and alive!" shouted Parthibendran. And soon an army of soldiers came cheering, running towards the hut.
The chozha soldiers had found Aditha in the hut, and had seen a woman with bloodied hands, holding a dagger in front him. With the compromising position they saw Aditha in, they had assumed it would be right to shoot down the woman.
"Are you alright arase?" Parthiba whispered getting closer to Aditha. Aditha drew out his dagger in fury.
The hilt hit a glass of wine on his table, toppling it over, waking him up.
He could see the fabric of the tent wavering above him. Soon he could feel the silken sheets around. It took him a while to get up. It was a nightmare. Not the first. Not the last. Not for the sin he had committed.
One tear followed the other. He began to weep. Aditha howled in pain, he couldn't tolerate it anymore. He couldn't live like this anymore
He poured himself a glass of wine and gulped and shoved it down his throat to silence himself. He wished he could pierce that dagger of his through his heart and end all of this.
Her scream still echoed in his ears.
.
.
.
.
.
Had to write this after that frantic bed scene from Chinnanjiru Nilave MV.
For the "....and they knew" line, i really can't explain it. It's something i know they would want each other to know, and i let them, let the other know. It's a feeling i can't explain. I'm sorry, I'm not high i promise.
Yes, i did just make Parthibendran more horrible for myself.
It's the first fic I've ever posted, please ignore if the writing was a little weary at places. I'll work on it to get better.

"More importantly, the score and similar blocking of access paint that first image in a totally different light. It isn’t a heroic 'mass' entry shot. It’s a frame fundamentally haunted by Aditha’s demons, the ghost of Nandini and his pain associated with her is unescapable, all consuming."
Tumblr media
"For instance, images of young Nandini are abstracted in some way, either through focus or slow-motion, followed by an image of Aditha gazing or looking. The images of Aditha feel distinctly plain. We are seeing her through his eyes, memories clouded with Aditha’s romanticization of his past."
Tumblr media
"On the surface, the song is one of victory after battle, but Ratnam’s placement is a pointed subversion of the warrior masculinity fantasy that a song like this would usually be. Rather than seeing a man of mythical strength and valor, we see a deeply broken and troubled man, a shell of a human being, drowning his sorrows in alcohol and bloodshed."
Tumblr media
"For instance, we get steadicam shots of the forest, meant to mimic Aditha’s direct point-of-view, trying to find the Veera Pandiyan king, which are cut against Aditha in the ‘present day’ screaming, as if he’s trying to push the memory away. And finally, we are at the door of the hut with the haunting 'Kodi Parakka' reprise. It’s inescapable."
Tumblr media
"The choice to use the Pandiyan King’s 'point-of-view' makes this particularly chilling to both the viewer and to Nandini. Maybe he has physical power over the king in the moment, but the psychic cost is too large. The viewer sees the beginnings of a deeply broken warrior, the slow-motion highlighting the expressions on Vikram’s face that seem to recognize the act of atrocity he’s committed. Yet he can’t help himself. Aditha does not have any control anymore, he is at the mercy of his rage and sadness, this is the inflection point for the rest of his life."
Tumblr media
"Finally, Ratnam cuts back to the 'present day' Aditha who continues to scream and closes his eyes, as the camera catches the light and the film goes into intermission. The viewer, finally, has the full picture of why Aditha is the way he is, and just enough insight into what drives Nandini."

NandhininKarikalan~ Chapter 6
•The New Head of Pandiyas•
The Grand Hall Of the Madurai Palace,
The hall was decorated with flowers and the people came there with a cheerful smile on their faces. The priest was reading the mantras and Vedas. But the state of Nandhini and Amarabhiujhangan was the opposite.
Nandini was being prepared for the coronation ceremony. She was adorned with heavy jewellery and a saree. Her hair was tied up into an Andal bun. Which added more beauty to her face.
But her eyes seemed to be very dull almost as if dead. She was helped by her maids and Urvashi to get prepared for the ceremony. "Akka please smile" told Urvashi cheerfully.
She tried to smile but could. This saddened Urvashi. She told," It's ok akka, try to smile at least during the ceremony". Nandhini just nodded in reply.
Her brother came to call her for the ceremony. Nandhini was looking at herself in the mirror. Urvashi saw Amarabhiujhangan enter and blushed a bit. Amarabhiujhangan noticed it but didn't react.
"Akka everything is prepared, they are waiting for you," told Amarabhiujhangan.
" You go to the hall I will come after a few minutes " replied Nandhini. Her brother looked at Urvashi one last time and went.
Nandhini got up from the seat and turned towards Urvashi. She asked Urvashi to bring the wooden box keep beside the bed.
Urvashi brought it to Nandhini. Nandhini opened it and had two golden rings. The only difference between them was that one hand had the symbol of Cholas, the tiger and the other one had their symbol, the fish.
"Akka whose rings are these," asked Urvashi. Nandhini took both the rings in her hand and stared at them. " These are my rings, Urvashi, one is my  father's gift and the other one is- Nandhini froze and continued " his killers' "
"Who Akka?" Asked Urvashi. Nandhini ignored the question and headed towards the door with the rings. She stopped near the door and asked" Are you going to stand there and ask questions all day ?".
Urvashi bit her lips and hit her head at her silliness. She followed Nandhini.
The trumpets blew as Nandhini entered the hall. Everyone turned to look at her hearing the sound of trumpets. Everyone got up from their seat and greatest her.
Nandhini reached the throne and got the blessings of her grandfather Periyar Pazluvetrayar. " Greetings to everyone gathered in this suspicious hall of the palace. Our eyes are gifted to experience the wonderful coronation of the crown princess Nandhini" he announced.
Nandhini held the rings tightly in her already wounded palm. She turned towards her grandfather, he blessed her by keeping a tilak on her forehead.
She was given her father's shawl. And with the trumpets blowing loudly she was crowned as the Queen of Pandiyan empire.
Her father's sword was given to her. She took the shawl and kept the rings inside and tied it tightly together.
She bought the sword to her right hand and held it tightly. " I the Queen of the Pandiyan empire promise to bring peace and prosperity to the country and won't hesitate to kill anyone who goes against me even if it is my blood. " Nandhini vowed.
Amarabhiujhangan's eyes darkened and Urvashi who was standing beside him smiled lightly at Nandhini's words.
"Hail Queen Nandhini!!" everyone cheered as she was crowned. Nandhini kept a straight face throughout the ceremony. She only spoke with her brother and Urvashi .
" So when are you both going to run away" Nandhini asked Urvashi mockingly as she saw Urvashi looking at Amarabhiujhangan who was talking to his friend, when the guest went to have the lunch .
Urvashi didn't reply. She ran away from there , blushing. Nandhini closed her as he she exhaled. She sat on the throne and took the shawl with the rings in her hand.
She got up and walked towards the exit . Nobody noticed it as everyone was busy eating. She got up on her horse and headed towards the river bank.
She stopped near the bank and got down." Appa, I am the Queen now. I have the power to create and destroy anything in Madurai But as a daughter, I promise you that, I will destroy the  Cholas. This is the least I can do as your daughter. I will make them suffer just  as you did. " Swore Nandhini looking at her reflection in the water.
She opened the cloth and took the rings on her palm. She wore her father's ring on the right and the other one on the left.
She climbed the horse and headed back. Her brother started to search for her by the time she came back. He saw her at the entrance and ran to her " Akka where were you?" Asked Amarabhiujhangan. " I was at the banks" replied Nandhini calmly.
Amarabhiujhangan noticed the rings on her fingers.  He knew that one was their father's " Akka this this tiger symboled ring....." Asked Amarabhiujhangan. " This belongs to the young tiger of the Cholas" Replied Nandhini.
" Why are you wearing it", asked Amarabhiujhangan. " Wearing it reminds me of him killing my father and it is like fuel to the fire in me. " Told Nandhini.
Nandhini didn't wait for him and started walking inside. She asked Amarabhiujhangan to gather a meeting with the ministers. He gathered everyone in her room.
"Arasi, did you call us, " Asked the ministers. " Yes, I have some important matters to talk about, take a seat" told Nandhini. " Nandhini sat as Amarabhiujhangan stood beside her. Nandhini came directly to the point" I am planning to go on a pilgrimage tour ". Told Nandhini. Her announcements shocked everyone.
"But why Arasi, you have been crowned just now and you are planning to leave Madurai." Asked the ministers.
"I may come as soon as possible. I just have a small Unfinished work to complete." Replied Nandhini.
" What is more important than the kingdom?" asked the ministers.
" A duty as a daughter " replied Nandhini. Everyone because silent. They seem to understand what she told.
"But without protection....." Asked Periyar pazluvetrayar hesitantly.
"Will any woman from our kingdom come to accompany me? " Asked Nandhini raising her eyebrows. " My daughter Urvashi will accompany you " announced the Urvashi's father.
" Is she ok with this?" She asked looking at Urvashi. " It is my honour to accompany you akka" told Urvashi who was a bit scared.
" Akka please let me accompany you " asked Amarabhiujhangan as Nandhini got up from her seat. She turned towards him and kept her hand on his shoulders.
" Thambi, you stay here and take care of everything. I know that you are capable of doing it . " Told Nandhini
Amarabhiujhangan accepted her words and didn't protest.
" I will head towards the south tomorrow. The first place I visit would be ' Veera Narayan Perumal temple '." This temple was located at the border of both the kingdoms.
