mercy and pharah definitely have little movie nights together at watchpoint gibraltar. one day dva wanders in bored after the day and after standing at the door not wanting to intrude on their privacy but also semi invested in whatever the movie they’re watching is, pharmercy are like why not and invite her to join

slowly their movie date nights turn into every single member of overwatch squeezing into the common room and huddling up together to watch movies. it started with dva, who invited brigitte, who invited reinhardt…and that was a wrap.

pharmercy still have no idea how it happened really but neither of them can say they really mind.

Listen, I know it’s canon-compliant, seeing as Kiriko and Orisa shouldn’t be with Overwatch by this point, but it was cute to hear that Genji had been working on his Role Heroes’ backstory with Emily for weeks. They’re actual friends!

We could already assume Emily was part of the Overwatch family with how close she is to Winston and Mei (They are her siblings-in-law, your honor). There was that Overwatch 1 interaction where Winston invites Mei to hot pot with Lena, Emily, and Athena that was followed by an Overwatch 2 interaction where Winston says he can’t wait for the next hot pot with Mei. Then, there was also the 2018 OWL spray where they’re all watching sports on a couch. Classic Lemon Tea history right there.

What makes me upset is the fact that Emily doesn’t seem to be living at Watchpoint: Gibraltar. London Calling ended with Lena and Winston saying “We did it! We saved London!”, but we know Iggy is in danger in the upcoming co-op mission. That’s the thing that’s always annoyed me with the plot armor our heroes have. You’re telling me that Lena and Emily have been living safely in London for over five years while Talon has Lena on a hit list???

On one hand, a bit of angst where Emily says her goodbyes to Lena would make me cry, in a good way. (Their love will persevere through anything, damn it!) We see how appreciative Emily is of Lena’s vigilantism in London Calling. She would give up having her girlfriend by her side for the betterment of the world. Also, I love the idea of Mei being subjected to Lena being a sobbing mess without her girlfriend in the crew quarters. On the other hand, Emily is not safe in London. Period.

Let me make one thing clear: I do not want Emily as a hero. Ever. Not only do I not want the possibility of Lena and Emily killing each other (it’s heartbreaking enough with Winston), but I think Emily is perfect as a civilian. She reminds Lena what she’s fighting for, but she’s also a great parallel to Jack’s relationship with Vincent. Jack forgot what he was fighting for, putting his duty above all else, and distanced himself from everyone. Emily is the reason why Lena kept up with being a vigilante, the reason why Lena bumped into Iggy, and the reason why Lena and Iggy were able to stop Kace’s uprising.

All of this is to say that I love the idea of Emily being at Watchpoint: Gibraltar with the new blood of Overwatch. It’s as safe as she’ll ever be with Lena as her girlfriend, after all. I want to see her interact with more heroes, and I guess I’m a little disappointed by the heroes playing their Role Heroes campaign. If we could get Kiriko and Orisa, who are not there in canon, why couldn’t we get Jack? Have you SEEN him being an absolute nerd over chess in the Sojourn novel? It would be a great way to show players who don’t view external media that Jack isn’t just a grumpy old man.

Also, can we talk about Adventurer Tracer’s lines? “Was your knight on holiday?” when eliminating Mercy? “Sorry, I’m the knight in this realm!” when eliminating Pharah? HELLO??? I need to see a Lemon Tea and Pharmercy double date this instant. (People can grow apart after five+ years of not seeing each other. Sorry, Gency shippers.)

I haven’t even seen the rest of Questwatch. I’m “only” tier 42 as of writing this, and I haven’t seen anyone post all the chapters in their entirety. Still, I am LIVING for all this Emily content. Now, give her a voice. Give her a 3D model. Let her show up in Story Missions. I am BEGGING.

(im the last anon) i don't hate pharmercy either, i just wish they had done things better, not gonna lie i wish to see a f/f couple from the game but i want it to be the way we deserve, like the fandom has being asking for years, and they could do that but i dont feel like it's there yet ? and agree with what you said about pharah, and think she deserves better… i personally like her with symmetra, and also they could do like they did with tracer and give her a gf outside the game ? again no hate to the ship/shippers, i just want what fits better to lore and makes sense too!

Yeah again I do think the writers fumbled a bit with Pharmercy, they have had years to start pushing it, even if it was in a more subtle way, but they haven't. Either because executives said no or because the original writers never planned on making Pharmercy a thing outside of fandom.

With doing what they did with Tracer, I would like to see that but I think that would end the same way that all the other realationships with civilians ended. Cause Emily and Lena's realationship is very much the exception for Hero x Civilian in the Overwatch universe, not the rule. I went into detail on Angela's issues but Pharah has her own issues too, specifically she tends to put work above her personal life (like mother, like daughter-), which would lead to a relationship with a regular person a difficult task for her. Not only that but I think a lot of people would see them doing this with Pharah as a cop out? Especially if they do what they do with other civilian love interests and not give them much of a character (I am still upset about Martina), I don't think they could do that though because they have been updating the lore more and it's not just stuff that's happened in the past.

It's the reason I like sympharah and kiripharah, both ships are with someone who is similar enough to Pharah to know and deal with her issues and flaws, while also being different enough to not enable Pharah's more toxic behaviors. Like Pharah being a workaholic or not being able to see nuances of certain situations.

Also especially with kikipharah I think both ships would have more natural build up?

Sympharah, though they have never met in canon or have that many meaningful interactions in game, have a similar theme of identity. They also contrast each other in the way of Pharah being sure of her self while Symmetra has started to question herself and Vishkar, questioning her postition and identity. While Pharah would help with that I think Summetra would help Pharah with maintaining a heathy routine and structure.

Kiripharah, despite being the least popular of the two, has grounding due to their interactions in game. As I stated in my little explination of Kiripharah, I read this interaction;

As competitive flirting. Not only that but their other interactions already has them questioning each others morals and outlook (something we also saw with Sympharah in OW1 btw), despite them not meeting in canon yet we still have some kind of build up with them.

And the biggest thing for me with these ships, Pharah wouldn't have to wait. I'm fine with the trope of waiting until the time is right before starting a relationship, as long as it's mutual. What they've established with Pharmercy is just Pharah waiting for Mercy, something that I don't like specifically because of Pharah's lore.

With these two ships she wouldn't really have to wait, Kiriko gives me the vibe of someone who would be fairly open if she liked someone, and Symmetra, though she is struggling with her own identity, is a very upfront and straight forward person.

Again Pharah deserves better than to have to wait for both her family and her love life to sort out their issues before they have time for her. Waiting for her family is enough.

However grooming, gaslighting and abuse can happen between adults. Young adults can abuse older adults. Ppl the same age can be gaslit and manipulated by one another. Between adults age is just a number. A clever manipulative 24 yr old can take advantage of a desperate insecure 60 yr old

And in regards to less controversial things.

Young adults can often be friends with kids, it happens in families all the time. Yes kiriko was a child befriending her moms students who we r e young adults

Their ages are based on the current year. Its still the same year in overwatch but its been 7 since launch. So no reinhardt wasnt born in 2016.

Ana Amari lives and breaths in the world and Fareeha doesn’t know.

Until she does.

Angela Ziegler tells her. Angela Ziegler who is no source at all for how little Fareeha knows her, sends her an email says ‘your mother is alive’ and Fareeha feels about ten different emotions that settle into anger; that settle into panic.

Knowing a person is out there and not knowing how to reach them is a hell all it’s own. Fareeha reaches out to contacts, travels until she is broke, spends evenings when she has exhausted all other avenues laying on the floor, waiting for signs of life to return to her.

She finds a post office box in England that may or may not be rented by her mother and begins writing letters and never gets a response.

It’s a cruel thing, what her mother has done to her. For her own sanity, Fareeha thinks she should consider Ana dead and never engage with her again; it is better than the wondering if she is okay, wondering if she cares as much as Fareeha has cared looking for her, wonders what she could have done better, what she could have said different to keep Ana in her life, wonders and worries and receives nothing for her torment.

Angela tells her every now and again that Ana is safe. That they have met up and talked. Sometimes what they discussed. Fareeha wears her heart on her sleeve when she begs Angela to ask her mother to call her, to write her.

It’s a hopeless cause. If Fareeha is not worth the effort, than there is nothing more she can do to will it so. It doesn’t stop the pain; just focuses the resolve.

“Do you want to stop corresponding with me?” reads Angela’s email.

“No,” Fareeha responds. “Nothing good has come of this but you.” When she hits send, it’s the first time in a very long time the world seems worth participating in again.

Angela looked down at what she had created with a raised brow.

Fareeha pressed against her side as she peered over Angela's shoulder. "Only two?"

"The rest didn't even make it into my oven, 'Reeha. And as I recall, you were the one eating my-"

Fareeha waved her hands around in the hopes of shifting Angela's attention to something other than her guilt. "It's​ not my fault! I got caught up in the flavor!" She lowered her voice when she realized Angela was standing next to her. "It was... interesting."

"Well," Angela turned back to her work. "Because of that we only have two gingerbread children."

Fareeha hugged her from the side, resting her chin on Angela's shoulder. "Sorry."

Angela leaned against Fareeha for a moment to let her know all was forgiven before she placed the gumdrops for little buttons. "Perfect."

The gumdrops glowed for a moment before the round icing eyes of the two gingerbread cookies shifted and blinked up at the two women.

It's mouth moved, but no sound came out... Because it was a cookie and while magically alive, didn't possess the proper equipment to speak.

"Their arms aren't moving." Angela lamented, picking up the first one and trying to bend its arm, only to snap the piece off.

The cookie's mouth opened in a silent scream and the remaining cookie sobbed mutely while the crumbs of its sibling fell on it.

With a sigh, Angela ate the cookie's head to end its suffering...hopefully, and offered the other to Fareeha.

Fareeha thought about denying Angela's offering, but she knew the fact that she was full was her own fault.

So, she dutifully accepted the cookie and forced it down, deciding it tasted much better cooked.

"It's too bad we can't keep the little guys around. They're pretty cute when they're able to move."

"Yeah, if they didn't get eaten by the rats and roaches." Angela answered with a smirk.

Fareeha's reply was swallowed by the sound of childish laughter. She was helpless to do anything more than smile as she watched Angela give her a cheeky grin.

They may not have had a family of 2.24 (gingerbread children), but they wouldn't​ trade the one they had for anything.

Spuriken shipper here. I heard the brother line and I felt 10 years of my life just drop. But truth be told, I'm still shipping it. I personally don't mind the "found family" dynamic because in the end, it can still be pretty fluid and things can change based on story events (not like we'd probably see anything for ow but I'm just saying)

It's okay if people don't wanna ship it anymore because Genji said Cassidy is "like a brother" but it's also okay if people do still ship it because found family is way more gray and fluid than actual family. What if Genji is just simply having a hard time being close with Cassidy, so he says the brother line to simply get some space? Or for any reason. Or he could just simply see him as a brother. It's however someone wants to interpret it - he said the line in the pvp side, and that's like 50% chance it's canon or not

Sorry for the mini rant. It's just that I've been in a lot of Fandoms where my particular ship always ended up turning into a brotherhood or sisterhood when there's a lot of romantic subtext (not saying spuriken has that but they kinda do in some interactions)

Yeah I get that, for me when something is made familial like this I instantly stop shipping it. It's mostly because I myself have made a lot of mistakes when shipping when I was younger so I don't want to make those same mistakes again. It's also the fact that Cass immediately brings up what he knows about Genji's family after Genji says Cole is like a brother to him so that definitely reads as a familial connection to me.

I understand still shipping it though it is going to be hard from this point forward with that voiceline.

For me I can't ship it anymore, it breaks one of the rules I set up for myself when it comes to shipping. I think the reason this didn't effect me much is because Spuriken isn't one of my main ships, I liked it but It's not something I really talked about. I probably won't talk about them in a shipping context again either, cause again, the word brother was used and not in the way Ram and Zen use it (i.e. like how nuns use the word sister).

Anyway the way I'm coping is thinking of the fact that Cassidy now has to deal with all sides of the Gency vs Pharmercy love triangle and you know that man is tired.

All I want is happy overwatch family. Jesse sarcastically introducing his boyfriend to his 'dads' before laughing it off and going to the shooting range. Gabriel and jack cornering hanzo later to give him the 'talk' ( reaper version obviously. Lots of guns.) Genji and hanzo spending a whole day at the arcade using money taken from the clan on frivolous things, things that hanzo would never have admitted wanting as a child. Hanzo ends up buying zenyatta a small ornament that reminds him of his orbs and genji is happy that hanzo is finally getting along with zen. Angela trying to get hana and sombra to eat more regularly instead of getting lost in their computers but getting called out by her girlfriend when she gets lost in her own work. Ana and fareeha take turns leaving food for her and drag her away from he work. Fareeha trying to convince her mum that she totally wants to go flying, totally safe. Dont you play that 'im too old card mother, i saw you, jack and gabe go cliff diving the other month' Lucio helping with torbs kids when they come to visit and Reinhardt cooking up those amazing brownies for the whole watchpoint and ana telling him off when she finds them all munching on cookies before shes finished making dinner with the help of mako ( and the not so much help of junkrat) Satya helping bastion and mei design and build gardens and making little houses for bastions little friend to rest in. Shes tried to drag sombra out to get away from her tech for a while but its a work in progress. And of course jack and gabe bickering in the mess hall much to jesse and genjis annoyance. Only for lena to accidently walking into them 'making up' later much to everyones embarrassment
