🔴The Nasir al-Mulk Mosque🕌🔴 . ⚫also known as the Pink Mosque (مسجد صورتی Masjed-e Surati), is a traditional mosque in Shiraz, Iran. ⚫It is located in Gawd-i Arabān quarter, near Shāh Chérāgh Mosque. It was built during Qajar dynasty rule of Iran. ⚫The mosque includes extensive coloured glass in its facade, and displays other traditional elements such as the Panj Kāse ("five concaved") design. ⚫It is named in popular culture as the 'Pink Mosque',due to the usage of a considerable number of pink-colored tiles for its interior design. ⚫Construction began in 1876 by the order of the late Hassan Ali Nasir al-Molk, one of the lords and aristocrats of Shiraz, the son of Mirza Ali Akbar Qavam-ol-Molk, the ruler of Fars and was completed in 1888. ⚫The designers were Mohammad Hasan-e-Memār, an Iranian architect who had also built the noted Eram Garden before the Nasir al-Molk Mosque, Mohammad Hosseini Shirazi, and Mohammad Rezā Kāshi-Sāz-e-Širāzi. . . ■ REAL TALK ■ I haven't written a "Real Talk" since before my trip to Malaysia, so I thought this was a good time to post one. Simply put, it is difficult for me to open up and share anything about myself, and I was very disappointed by the reactions I got when I shared the news of my trip. Especially from other FAs. I received a lot of "Why Malaysia?" and "Is it cheap there, or something?" and "You're going ALONE? Traveling alone is boring." and even "Sounds decent." I also received a lot of silence. What bothers me is, if I had been going to London, or Paris, or Rome, or Dubai, I would never have received these questions and reactions. But because I chose to do something unique and travel somewhere off-the-beaten-path, I was met with negativity and indifference. And from flight attendants! The very people who should be the most readily excited for their fellow traveler. Even though it's usually MY broke ass that I wish was going, I am always happy and excited when friends and co-workers tell me of their travel plans. I was hoping for the same courtesy. Per usual, I expected too much. But once I got to Malaysia (& got some sleep), all my irritation melted away. For the narrow-minded people, I felt only pity, that they were not able to see what I was seeing. Malaysia exceeded my wildest expectations, and I came back to the States forever changed. I decided the best way to deal with the negative comments was to laugh about them. See my highlight "Doing Me." My message is this: don't let those who choose to walk in the mainstream make you feel like your travel destinations are not as sound and valid as their's are. Whether your goal destination is Malaysia, London, or Antarctica, the way you perceive and experience that location will be wholly unique and unrepeatable. 08•17•2019 You know when people say they've had "the best day ever," and more than likely it's an exaggeration, because they're unable to recall (in that moment) a better day, or they're drunk? Well, none of that is the case for me, and I'm telling you: I just had THE BEST DAY EVER. And it's all because of the lovely lady in this photo with me!!!! She took me around to see the sights, we had authentic Indian food for lunch, we visited the Thean Hou Temple (Buddhist), we had shaved ice at a local shop, we went to the Putra Mosque (Islam), we visited a night market where I got to try many traditional Malay foods, we went to a mall (that makes Mall of America look like K-mart) so I could buy a new power adapter (read my last post), we had sushi for dinner, we impromptu crashed an Indian celebration (Hindu), and ended the night with real bubble tea at an adorable place called Panda's. I swear we did more in 12 hours than most people do in an entire vacation. And it is SO incredible that we visited the places of worship for Buddhism, Islam, and Hinduism all in one day!! That must be recognized as some sort of record! Thank you, Cinnamon.
