yk I was a lapidot shipper when I was super into SU lmao (I think this was before we knew that peridot was aroace tho)
Huh. Fair enough.
Honestly when all the peridot ships were big it was basically the only thing you could find on anything. At the time i would have said i shipped lapidot but i think i was really just invested in their dynamic i thought it was interesting. Peridot wasn’t actually confirmed aroace until After SU future was over so

having some of the worst times of my life ever and im scared things could get worse... how? well you see. they might create more tnb some day even after all of this.
after massacring my boy ryan like that live on screen... smack cam... removing any of ryans narrative worth or meaning just to have him show up and be cringe which i did enjoy but for real guys. my friends. if they had just had everyone do something random and lackluster it wouldve been fine but ryan showed up to drive the plot and continue his character arc from the rising (and then he didnt, as a joke).
karinas lack of real character arc (AGAIN!) so that she can uhhhh talk about crushes... instead of, for example, have her be an equal hero on-screen to the guys who have already been king of heroes and she works arguably harder than anyone else (she is a hero, an idol, and a student). shes so interesting, theres so much to her! but most of her appearances just serve to further some guys character arc (like the whole blue golden episode is mostly about ryan!.. or kotetsu even! cmon)
the character arc that antonio got that wholly ignored that hes friends with nathan and which makes me actually lose my mind when i think that those two have frequently been shown together but they didnt have a single convo together so that nathan and keith can be confined to a cage where theyre only interacting with each other instead of having any real plot relevance despite them both being really interesting!..
and the fact that antonio/agnes made its way into the show bc the director likes him and you know... agnes was her stand-in, and another reason to not let nathan talk with antonio ever because yknow?.. it just tastes like ash in my mouth to feel like the director felt some type of way about nathans and antonios prior relationship...
the buddy hero system was utilized so poorly! it threw so many characters under the bus like ryan seriously got way too much time in blue golden and their prior relationships with each other were ignored so much like man... i just love them all interacting. i dont love whatever the hell was going on with, for example, nobody noticing that thomas is gone. my heroes wouldve noticed immediately btw. instead of subaru and thomas being in a cage where they only interacted with each other, the buddy hero pair curse of 2nd cour that almost everyone suffered from
lets not even get into that even if they say that yuri is actually fine haha! they cant remove that scene where kotetsu and barnaby stared at him and went like “hmm thats rough buddy... anyway”. what the hell... kotetsu is one of the characters i think of the least and it was just so grossly OOC and just plain disgusting... the entire abuse apologism arc with yuri and lara overall as well
what about that fucking scene with jungle where they implied shady shit was going on when subarus communicator didnt go off and he was recruited as a double for thomas anyways and uhhh (checks notes) literally nothing came out of those plot threads btw. jungle CEO was introduced for no reason
and they cant remove what they did to ouroboros (the way they made it all-powerful illuminati-esque organization instead of plain old corruption etc), and the whole NEXT disease ooohhh-thing, and the literal internment camps and the various deeply bigoted implications thereof plus lackluster new character designs (oops! almost all white, pale-haired and blue/green-eyed).
Tumblr media
how could they bounce back from this and do i even want to see them try to ignore OR try to grapple with any of the above. oooh when i get my hands on the people who were in the writers room...............
cant they just please retcon that my favourite character fucking exploded to ten thousand small pieces. excited for scraps of my fav characters like usual but then?.. its also like spitting in my face after all the shit they pulled. put me out of my misery

Hiiii everyone, here are some of my thoughts on the Shadow and Bone show<3 Spoilers!
IT WAS SO GOOD I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT OMG
As a book fan, somewhere inside me, I'd been afraid that the show would mess things up. This was especially because it's a blend of two different series, which take place in different timelines. BUT HONESTLY, I WAS COMPLETELY WRONG. The way they've incorporated the Six of Crows characters into the plot of Shadow and Bone is perfect. Everything fits in together and makes total sense. So if you're a book fan who's skeptical about the show, I 100% recommend it.
The characters are EXACTLY how I'd imagined them while reading. Not just their appearance, but their voices, their mannerisms, their relationships with other characters, their expressions, IT'S ALL THERE. The attention to detail is truly astonishing.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED HOW THEY STUCK to some of the amazing dialogues from the books. The "There are no others like us, and there never will be"?!?!? and the "Fine, make me your villain"!?!? and the "I'm sorry it took me so long to see you, but I see you now." ??!?!? and the "I'm beguiling you!" and THE "No Mourners, No Funerals" (I may or may not have cried) AND MY PERSONAL FAVOURITE "You and I are going to change the world."
I live for the representation in this show. Alina being half Shu, Inej and Zoya being Suli, Jesper being Zemini and bi, Nina being plus sized, Kaz having a disability etc all shows how well thought out the casting was. Seeing someone who looks like you play the lead of a show can be so empowering. They also did the whole facing racism thing so well. The scenes where Alina was bullied or told to stand at the back of the line or called names for what SHE LOOKED LIKE were such raw examples of racism.
The friendships and relationships were my favorite part. Jesper being goofy, adhd mess, him and Inej being THE MOST ADORABLE BESTIES!!!, the "Jes? IT'S SULI FOR FRIENDSHIP.", him calling Kaz 'boss', Kaz's brooding and pretending to not care about the Wraith, Inej's worshipping Alina, Alina and Genya's friendship, AND DARKLINA?!?!?!?
All the darklina scenes were perfection :') there horseriding and Aleksander saying YOU ARE GRISHA, YOU'RE NOT ALONE to Alina because she was always made to feel like an outsider. The wishing well scene was so sweet uggghhh. Also the War room scene uhm uhm ;)
ABSOLUTELY LOVE ZOYA NAZYALENSKY, SO ZOYA CRUMBS WERE WHAT I LIVED FOR. I love how she says "She's Suli" when someone makes a racist assumption about Inej. This really reminded me of the Row scene where the Suli woman says "I see you" to her. Also the "your tracker friend also liked it when I put him on his back" was SUCH A Zoya thing to say lmaoo....also watching the destruction of Kribirsk after reading about how much Liliana meant to her was heartbreaking.
THE GENYAxDAVID interaction was everything. They're both such adorable, awkward messes. DAVID HITTING JES WITH A BOOK!?!?!
TIME TO TALK ABOUT THE BEST SHIP OF ALL TIME, HELNIK. Dan and Callahan did an amazing job, their chemistry>>>
My fav scene was probably the ice scene where Nina falls and YOU CAN SEE THE CONFLICT in Matthias' eyes, because he's been trained to killed Grisha all his life, and now he has the chance, BUT HE REALIZES that Nina is human and worth saving!!! brb sobbing
Also they eat waffles together I MEAN
"You're better than waffles Matthias Helvar." "Let's not say things we don't mean , my love." WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE GET THIS SCENE ON SCREEN?!?!
Milo the goat deserves a whole new fan base.
The special effects, the sets, the costumes and makeup were all spot on. The power those Keftas hold>>>>
The voiceovers of Mal and Alina's letters were adorableeee. "When I told you about true north, I was talking about you." and the "It's always just you and me, Alina." :')Show Malina> books Malina for me.
Kaz's scheming and the crows' heists were so badass. Jesper's gun trick thing!!!! Him never missing!!!! Kaz literally tricking the Darkling!!! Inej's knives!!! THE PART WHERE INEJ KILLED THAT GRISHA TO SAVE KAZ WHEN SHE WAS AGAINST KILLING. "We need you Inej, I need you." KANEJ NATION RISE.
They were all such a serve aaaa I'm a simp for the S&B cast. LOVED IT. GO WATCH IT NOWWWW

GW Dinner Show @Gundam Cafe’ Tokyo
So last night I attended the event and it was super fun!
Tumblr media
The event heads up here at the official website
Super long post,so...
Ok first, I was so pumped for this I choose a dress that reminds me the space and did some Relena-like hair style (though I’m not the hugest fan)
Tumblr media
I reached Akihabara ahead of time to wander around a bit. Nothing new even if it was a while since the last time I went there (just covid- depression all around!)Then finally I met with my friend and we moved to the Cafe’.
First we had a stroll in the merchandise store but I was strong and didn’t buy anything (yet)
Tumblr media
As you enter, they give you a face shield. It really makes it hard to eat, drink and look around you during the event, but hey, these are Covid times it can’t be helped!(You can also pay an extra fee and bring it home if you want, otherwise it will be disposed at the end of the event)
Upon entrance of restaurant area there is a display of the event related goods.
Tumblr media
You can’t take pictures and videos inside, but basically there are a bunch of tables in front of a small stage with full screen wall.
It was Tuesday night so not too crowded, maybe around 20~30 people in total. You reserve in advance a set menu with appetizer and a main dish. There are 2 options available: Heero &Wufei team’s menu or Trowa and Duo’s team menu. Luckily there were 2 of us so me and my friend had one each (I got Heero&Wufei’s). The dinner show was from 18:30 to 20 ,1.30 hours total.
The show is an interactive one with animated characters from GW series and one real actor playing the show host’s role. Animation is more like Otome game graphics, the characters just show up one by one and only move their eyes and mouth, there is a preview video that shows it better.
As you reach your seat, the animation starts and Relena welcomes the audience as we were guests at this party night she arranged at St Gabriel’s academy. She is hosting this dinner event along with the real host guy which also shows up on the stage and introduces himself.
The welcome drink tea is served and you get your first coaster as a gift. It comes in an envelope so you can’t choose your fav character’s coaster,it comes randomly.
I opened mine and I got Trowa’s one (how lucky!!),while my friend got Quatre’s. And because she is so kind and she knows how much I like him, she gave it to me! My 3x4 heart is fulfilled!
If you order any additional drink on the menu, you can get another random coaster. I ordered Quatre’s drink, yeah again because I like him but also the drink looked delicious: mango, grapefruits and orange juice mix. As a coaster, I got Wufei’s one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway in the coaster’s envelope you might additionally find a Win ticket. What do you win, it will be explained later. Anyway me & friend didn’t get it.
Next showing up are Quatre and Duo,then Trowa,Wufei and Heero. They all are at the party because there is a secret mission for them (plus Quatre was the only one officially invited at the event, because he is an aristocratic brat eheh)
After some reunion chats - and Trowa bullying Heero because tank top and shorts are not an outfit for a party- Relena, who appearently knows nothing about the mission, asks them to cook for the audience.
They decide to split into 2 teams (Heero&Wufei,Trowa&Duo with Quatre supporting both teams here and there) and have a cooking contest to decide who can cook the most delicious and original dish.
It follows a real funny narration of the two teams wondering what to cook and asking advices to Quatre. We can see Heero sneaking inside Trowa and Duo’s kitchen for a second, pretending no one’s seeing him. Duo actually kind of notices but decides not to argue. Meanwhile the appetizer is served to us: a dish designed by Relena dedicated to the 5 pilots.
Tumblr media
After that, there is a digest sequence of images from Anime and OAVs, recapping to the audience the original story from each pilot point of view and also including a short heads up on the main female characters (Relena,Lady Une,Noin,Dorothy,Catherine,Hilde)
Following, main dishes are served and each team does a short presentation of it, explaining the small references - such as the soup in Trowa’s team dish is inspired by her sister’s soup and so on.
Quatre points out how both teams used peppers and that makes Duo realizes what Heero was doing in their kitchen: stealing ingredients! Heero plays dumb on this one.
It follows public interaction where we decide who’s the winner by clapping hands. Winner yesterday was Trowa and Duo’s team, and the 2 of them have a short speech to thank the audience (I guess you could see also Heero and Wufei’s one if audience response is different)
But there isn’t time to relax, at this point the mission details are revealed: according to the pilot’s resources, someone attending the party is there to kill Relena. “Someone” means literally anyone can be addressed, so the guys start accusing each other of being a potential killer and..(surprise surprise) Heero punches Duo and send him K.O.
At this point the host guy (the real actor) super suspiciously offers Heero a special soup to congratulate him for stopping the killer. Heero accepts and drink it, but nothing happens...the host was expecting him to be poisoned.
However Wufei swapped the poisoned soup with a normal one while everyone was distracted looking at how Duo gets punched. So we discover that there is a sort of “clone” of the host guy who trapped the (poor) true host guy somewhere and approached the party to try to get Relena killed.
Trowa cuts down the light and the entire restaurant falls into the dark, pilots voices ask us to use any available light (like your phone’s) and point it to the killer to block him. After the guy is caught, lights back on and the true nice host guy comes back - while Duo complains it wasn’t necessary of him getting punched again.
The final part is (personal opinion) pure fan service: Relena now understands why the 5 guys all were there and feels relived her host guy is also back, however she wonders how they did caught such information. The guys explain they got it sneaking in some different schools. This is were Relena asks them to change to school uniforms to show us around.
The host guy explains us we are allowed to take pictures of the guys as they change into uniforms. As soon as the guys appear on the screen, we got our chance. It’s time for final greetings. We can only receive farewell from 2 pilots out of 5,so the choice is up to the 2 people who got the win ticket in the coaster envelope.
Our winners of the day choose Wufei and Duo, therefore we saw their greetings (I guess you can see others if you go on a different date)
This ended the show, but we all were thrilled by it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sad note: I promised myself to behave and don’t buy the goods except this bottle.
Tumblr media
However I found out too late that this is available only at the cafeteria next by the restaurant, which was already closed by the time the show ended. I must go back and get it!!!

What I Preferred in Age of Resistance
So, I’ve mentioned already that Age of Resistance and J.M. Lee’s The Dark Crystal book series have several differences concerning how certain events play out. I decided to go into detail about what I liked most in both versions. Overall, I preferred the books, but I still find Age of Resistance to be an incredible, necessary part of the lore of Thra. Here are some plot points and inclusions that I preferred in the show.
-Rian, Deet, and Brea: This is an obvious one, as the show was specifically about this trio, while Lee’s books focused on Naia, Kylan, and Amri. Rian was a figure who came in and out of the plotline throughout the books. He was there just enough to get a basic idea concerning his character and struggles. Brea was seen only twice, and Deet didn’t appear until the end of Flames.
In the show, we really see the struggles Rian faces, along with the horror of what he has witnessed (more on that shortly). Brea provides a closer look at the Vapra than what we were given with Tavra in the books, and is a perfect example of a person of privilege changing her views of the world. And Deet is just marvelous in every possible way. (I think I have a thing for the Grottan. I mean, Amri is my fav in the books while Deet is my fav in the show.)
More character development is always a plus, so these three were an absolute win for me.
-The Skeksis: Since each book was only told from the point of view of one Gelfling (Naia, Kylan, Amri, then Naia again), there were certain things that weren’t explored. We only saw a Skeksis when they were directly interacting with the characters, or being shown in a dreamfast.
In Age of Resistance, we get to see the politics within the Castle. We get to see just how intelligent and conniving skekSil is. We get to see how skekTek lost his eye and was turned into the psychopath we know and love. An intimate look at the Skeksis was needed in order to truly understand the state of Thra at this point in time, and the show did an incredible job.
Also, the show went above and beyond in making the Skeksis truly vile, disgusting, evil creatures (except for skekGra, of course). I mean, the scene where Mira is getting drained was downright terrifying. As I mentioned before, the de-crowning of Seladon was a scene I had to skip altogether. We also find out that skekTek lost his eye in a sadistic punishment devised by his own kind! Every moment with these villains was golden, and made me hate and fear them even more.
-Hup and the Podlings: The Podlings only made a brief appearance in the books, and it wasn’t significant in any way. In the show, however, we were given a glimpse of the class system that makes up Thra. We see how Podling villages apparently are treated to forced baths by interloping Gelfling who see it as their “duty” to clean the “filthy” citizens. We see how Hup is immediately arrested for the brawl in Stone-in-the-Wood based on the word of the local Gelfling. Podlings are second-class citizens on Thra, and I really hope season 2 explores this fact even more.
As for Hup himself... Do I even need to say anything? He’s a precious little paladin who will kick ass with his spoon and defend Deet with his life. He is perfection, and Age of Resistance gets heavy points for his mere existence.
-Aughra: She plays a much more active role in the show, and I am so happy about it! She actually goes looking for answers, has genuine flaws, and shows so much emotion in each scene she’s in. You can really feel her love for the Gelfling, as well as the snappy personality she is known for. Hell, she actually offers up her life in exchange for the imprisoned Gelfling, temporarily dying as a result!
In the books, her main contribution is giving Kylan the book that tells him of the bone firca (a plot point that’s entirely book-specific, which I’ll talk about in my post on what I liked more about the book series). Later on, she summons the various Gelfling to the dreamscape, and is gone until after the battle in Stone-in-the-Wood. She is seen as more of a motherly, godlike figure who returns to the Gelfling when they finally open their eyes and ears to her again.
Personally, I prefer the flawed Aughra who realizes her mistake in abandoning the Gelfling and attempts to actually fix things on a more active level.
-The Heretic and the Wanderer: skekGra and urGoh’s relationship is an incredible addition to the lore of Thra. Their union shows that the Skeksis aren’t simply evil by nature. It is possible for the two halves to come together and cooperate, and it’s not just the Mystics who want that!
Also, they were definitely the most entertaining characters in the series. I loved them as soon as they appeared, and will continue to love them whenever I rewatch the series and write my fanfics. Everything about their scene, from skekGra’s first appearance, to the puppet show, was masterful and hilarious!
-Seladon: Due to the limited perspectives of the books, we only hear about Seladon’s betrayal second-hand. She is clearly being manipulated by the Skeksis, but joins the fight when the Vapran flame is lit. She is quickly forgiven by the other maudras, and that’s that.
In the show, we see her full descent. We see how she was taught to put her position as the All-Maudra first, no matter what. We see how determined she is to protect the Gelfling as a whole, no matter the cost, because she truly sees the Skeksis as invulnerable lords.
Her development was incredible, and I will forever be a Seladon stan!
-The Arathim: Making the spiders into allies was not something I expected, especially since the book depicted them as unquestioning servants to skekSo. I’m glad that the show explored the fact that Domrak was originally home for the Arathim, and showed how the Skeksis tried to turn two oppressed groups against each other to further their own plans.
Also, we got to see Gurjin hugging a giant spider.
So, yeah. Those are a few of the things that Age of Resistance did better. I’ll be back at you with book details later!

im new to shokugeki and i dont care about spoilers, why is it bad?
a no joke answer bc u deserve this:
tl;dr Shokugeki sucks because it lost its direction halfway through the story, and when Tsukada (the author) realised that he’d bitten off more than he could chew with such a huge cast of characters.
long answer:
here’s the thing. Shokugeki started out good.
it mostly played off the usual shounen tropes: a challenger would appear, but then they quickly joined the friendship circle, rinse and repeat. but with such a wide cast of characters with differing goals and personalities plus the high stakes of only the top 10% graduating, it made it easy to bank on the character interactions and friendships, which is what the first half of Shokugeki did, heavily so. and it worked !
it was a simple set up (protag aims to beat his dad in a cook off, goes to cooking school, meets friends and foes ! a tournament arc ! fun and shenanigans ! yay!), but Shokugeki did it good. it didn’t subvert any expectations, just did according to what it set out to do. nothing felt exaggerated beyond the typical manga stuff, and everything achieved was earned with hard work. with the occasional fluff and friends thrown in, it became a comfy mix for a good shounen manga.
if anything, id say that half the success came from the character’s relationships themselves - the plot wasn’t anything special, but the genuinity that the characters and their friendships and goals (shared or not) were treated with were wholesome and fun.
which is why it was so fucking jarring when it derailed by throwing aside half of its cast and completely stagnating all character development for the remaining half.
(insert infamous Central Arc expulsion joke here)
if you’ve started/are intending to start, id say its the most obvious after the Moon Banquet Festival Arc/beginning of Central Arc. the writing started getting sloppy, as did the handling of the characters. ive mentioned this before, and ill stress this again: i honestly believe that Central Arc is when Tsukada realised what a big miss steak he did in creating such a huge cast, and in the face of Shokugeki’s then success, made some poor authorial choices to keep the hype going (both plot and character wise).
for characters: half the cast was rid of via expulsion, including very competent chefs (which had no proper in canon explanation on how the fuck that happened) who happened to be fan favourites. i mean, Hayama Akira ? fuck, Nakiri Alice, anyone ? plus any poor remaining characters got shafted in lieu of Souma, hard. this became more prominent as the Arcs slowly go on, the ones of which took the worst brunt of it being Takumi and Megumi.
(what do u think is worse. your fav never getting a cameo or your fav being part of the forefront team but constantly getting fucked over because Souma didn’t get the spotlight of the chapter yet. vote now in the replies.)
for plot: higher and higher stakes were introduced that again, just didn’t make sense !! in Central Arc, Souma was expected to win against Eishi, the best chef in his entire school. when two arcs prior he just lost a cooking contest to two of his peers (placed third), and one arc prior struggled to beat Kuga in ticket sales (even then he didn’t win because his cooking was better, so. wasnt even a win on the cooking front). there was no build up ! NOT EVEN A TRAINING ARC. he just went straight from the bottom rung of the ladder to the fucking ceiling. super different from the first half of the series when everything would be shown in careful detail (best example i can think of off the top of my head being the Shokugeki against Mimasaka in the Autumn Election Arc).
also: in the midst of introducing Erina’s character arc and backstory, Tsukada seemed to completely forget (or maybe just didnt know how to link back?) that he’d already established an overarching plotline: Souma’s quest to best Jouichirou. so when Souma began overthrowing these foes that are his seniors said to be leagues ahead of him, the suspension of disbelief was stretching waaay thin. but hey ! its a shounen manga ! we can forgive this much (sarcasm).
then Tsukada introduces Asahi. mother fucking Asahi. who is basically introduced by beating Jouichirou without breaking a sweat, but oh boy did he break the suspension of disbelief right then and there and completely toss the plot into the fucking fire. because there’s no end goal anymore ! the one thing that our main character has been working so hard for ? non existent. pointless. this no name (at that time) character has done it, pack your bags boys, let’s go home.
(might i note that at this point, Shokugeki was also uuhh nothing like the slice of life comedy it originally was. it became an action-psychological mix that just…doesnt work. and i mean. of course it wouldn’t. there was no foreshadowing, the villians can’t be taken seriously because 1) theyre also teenagers for fuck’s sake 2) Azami’s just a creep, plain and simple. he has no depth. no one cares about an antagonist who’s bad at just being bad.
the themes it began with was completely set aside for really badly written character backstories and angsty edgey bs that i still don’t understand why Tsukada thought would work in retaining hype. especially when considering how pure the premise was.
i honestly also think that its the Blue Arc + Dark Chefs Arc when Tsukada actually realised that his plot had gone haywire, since volume sales were dropping hard and fans clearly hated the direction the series had gone in. but instead of trying to reign it back in, he decided to just let it run buckwild because he just didn’t know how to fix it.)
to rub salt into the wound: so many promised resolutions are shoved into the background, done offscreen, or worse yet, forgotten ! scenes that fans have literally been waiting for. Souma VS Erina Shokugeki. Souma VS Takumi Shokugeki. Nakiri Alice coming back to the series and actually fucking cooking again.
(im sure that there’s more that lead to its downfall but like. shrugs. this is mainly to me why it sucks: it had A Lot going for it (im not ashamed to admit that at one point i actually genuinely believed it could be one of the next Big 3 on Shounen Jump), and it just didnt live up to any of it for no other reason other than Tsukada mixing elements of a story that didn’t work well together, tried to force them to work, and did nothing to fix it when it didn’t.)
so our plot is gone. so are our lovable characters. so is the slice of life comedy that drew most people in in the first place. the potential that it had is now dust. what does Shokugeki have left that makes it unique, that makes people love it ? here’s the answer !
nothing.
that fact kicks you in the teeth every fucking time you remember how good the first half of the series was.
then that fact dropkicks you when you realise that Shokugeki no Soma literally started on a 90degree drop into a dumpster fire when the series was at the apex of its popularity and plot buildup.
that’s why it sucks.

Are the two Tiger and Bunny movies good? What did you think of them?
in my opinion, yes ! they are! i personally think the second one, The Rising, is the better of the two but I think they’re both very solid movies !I actually usually recommend watching The Beginning instead of the first two episodes of the anime !! The Beginning contains both episodes -- with extra content in between (usually character interactions) -- plus pretty much an extra episode that you wouldnt see otherwise ! I think The Beginning also does a good/better job of setting up why Kotetsu really didnt like Barnaby at first too? In my humble opinion, The Beginning really shows how different their ways of thinking are and why they’d fight so much early on! Plus I like seeing more of how the other heroes react to how Barnaby is at the beginningI like the villain in The Beginning, I think his NEXT power is really interesting and I like his personality! I wish we could’ve seen a little more of him, to be honest!! I liked him better than almost all of the minor villains (other than Edward of course i love him).I’d definitely recommend The Beginning but if you’ve already seen the first two episodes of Tiger and Bunny and don’t really want to watch them again then its kinda tedious..especially since you’ll miss a lot of new content if you skip to when the new villain appearsThe Rising tbh... there’s a lot to say about Rising but the first thing that comes to mind is I like how we get to learn more about the setting.. learn about the Goddess and Justice Day was so nice ! I’m a huge sucker for world building so I really enjoyed learning more about Sternbild... I liked the story of the Goddess too ! I do want to see more of the places outside Sternbild, though-- we get a little taste of it (learning that not being from ‘around Sternbild’ means you don’t know the story of the Goddess) but I want More !! Speaking of not being from around Sternbild though... okay, I guess the fandom really likes the new hero Ryan but I honestly? Don’t. Although I do like the foil he offers to Barnaby and the other heroes (but less so)-- he really comes off as jarring and out of place. I do wish we had seen like, the other heroes interact with him more? We mostly just see Barnaby which makes sense but also... I want to see how he treats the other heroes and how they react to him... The villain of The Rising.......god I loved it? It wasn’t as big of a twist as the End Of The Series but I still genuinely didn’t see who it Really was coming. I like their motives and I really like how they’re kinda morally grey... yes what they are doing is Bad but maybe the person who theyre targeting kinda deserves it? Lunatic does make an appearance but honestly I wished he did more. He kinda appeared and then fucked off BUT MY FAV PART OF RISING... I loved Nathan’s arc (I guess its an arc??).. I’ve talked about this before with friends but I really? related to how they were portrayed? as a trans person myself who changed gender identity quite a bit at the beginning I really related ! plus i related to feeling overwhelmed by how people look at you when youre trans... and having an unsupportive family... plus seeing a canonly trans character was really nice. I do have issues with the occasional like, weird jokes with Nathan (You Know The Ones if you’ve seen the show) but what did I expect from a 2011 anime,, I’m glad it was pretty much dropped after the first episode or so and only comes up like. twice after thatI do wish the dub used they/them pronouns like the Japanese version instead of he/him though,, thats the One (1) issue i have with the Dub, I also really like seeing the characters interact (notably Keith, Ivan and Antonio hanging out !!!!!) and I could ramble about that but this is already really long !! but do know that I’m glad Antonio got a Moment for himself but I really wish he got more of a focus,,, if theres every a season 2 please god let Antonio have an episode to himself,,, ANYWAYS TL;DR: I HEAVILY recommend The Rising and also recommend The Beginning but less so!! I really enjoyed the Tiger and Bunny movies and I rewatch The Rising a lot !
