Discord scam alert
If you get messages like this from a discord friend’s account, your friend has just become the victim of a phishing scam and the scammer is trying to get you too.
But my friend got his account back within an hour of this conversation, and your friend can get theirs back too.
The MO: using this scare story, the scammer tricks people into changing the email on their account to give the scammer control of the account. Once they have control, they use the hijacked account to send the scam pitch to all the victim’s friends
The motive: to try to get people who have nitro to bite, so the scammer can steal their credit card
Here’s how to keep your account safe and help your friend
DO NOT follow any of the instructions your friend’s account sends you. The scammer will lie to you and give you instructions to hand over control of your account.
DO:
Keep your cool. The scare story is a lie. The scammer has no power to force you to follow their instructions, they only have lies to try to trick you into it.
Ghost the scammer. It’s what I did as soon as I realised this was definitely a scam (I smelled shit immediately because my friend has a totally different typing style, but it would be harder to recognise coming from a random acquaintance), and they didn’t persevere any further after the end of the screenshot. Scammers target the vulnerable and avoid wasting effort on more difficult victims; if you ghost them they will sense you’re not biting and leave you alone.
Contact your friend on another platform if possible, to confirm that it’s not them and let them know they’ve been hacked
Direct your friend to the discord support ticket platform— my friend got his account back in like 30 minutes by sending a “hacked account” ticket here.
If your friend has nitro, make sure they get going on cancelling any compromised payment methods before the scammer can steal their money
Take this as a lesson to avoid repeated passwords and turn on 2FA on all your accounts, especially ones with any payment info attached— even if you think you’re too smart to get scammed, everyone has moments of not paying attention, and that’s what scammers prey on

Heyyyyyyyy guys, I uh
-coughs-
I think I found a possible scam to be on the lookout for
Idk what this person's intentions were, but I found it odd that they offered to pay me money and then said they didn't need my bank information (then when I asked how they intended to pay me without my bank info, they sidestepped the question and switched subjects). They also asked for my age and location, and when I said I wasn't comfortable telling them, they ignored that and repeated their questions
I had no intention of giving them any information about myself whatsoever. Just,, for the record. Long screenshot under the cut, so you guys know what to keep an eye out for ^^"
Note: the first two messages were apparently sent twice by tumblr?? Idk why that happened, since I only sent one message initially to say hi. Them repeating their age and location questions could've been a glitch or something too, but idk about that one, since there was at least a full minute between the first try asking and the second try

Ok, so I got an ask for mutual aid. Of course, it's human to want to help someone in need, even if all you can do is reblog their post. But you also don't want to be scammed, or help spread a scam. So you look for clues, or you only reblog your mutuals' aid posts because you at least know they're *real*, or you don't reblog aid posts at all.
So, what are the tells? (I'm not an expert, this is just what I've learned through osmosis.)
Do they follow/interact with you, outside of the mutual aid request?
Is their username weirdly generic?
Does the blog look like a real tumblr user, and not just someone who made a tumblr to ask for aid? How old is it? Is it involved in any fandoms? Does it seem staged?
Does their aid ask and needs description make sense? Is it overly vague, or bogged down with unneeded details?
If you quote-search the body of their aid ask, do you get any similar hits for scams on other sites or under other names?
Does the account for donations look legit?
What do you find when you reverse image search?
So, having received an ask that sounded very much like someone whose mutual aid I would want to support if they're real, but already having two red flags from the jump (not following me and not in my notifications, weird wording and grammar on ask), I endeavored to suss them out.
Screencaps of my adventure under the cut.
Like someone else has said, please don't go harrass this blog. Even if it's a scam, at some point there's a person behind that screen.
So here's the ask.
Red flags: they don't follow me, I don't know them, the ask is long, the grammar and punctuation are bad, word choices are odd or misspelled. These don't mean it's automatically fake, but it looks more like a weird AI than someone using google translate to communicate in English.
So I check their blog.
Their pinned post is this (click to read, it's a longass pic):
I don't take any links yet.
I take a block of their post and check it in google; all I get are snapshots of tumblr reblogs for their aid post. I click the "buy me a coffee" link, and it looks...idk, fine I guess. There's a tumblr logo, but clicking it seems to do nothing. (I'm on mobile)
A quick search of their name on tumblr gives me 2 posts mentioning them spamming this same message to people.
I read the one with the readmore linked here
After reading wannursyafiqah74's post about it, I got on my laptop and went back to casualdonutfire.
Mostly random reblogs; cats and other random reblogs of mostly pics, many with comments that could've/should've been tags, and no actual tags whatsoever. Like set dressing that says, "See? I'm a real person! I'm leaving comments about my reblogs that show I'm not a bot! I interact! I know what I'm I'm reblogging!"
It gives me a creepy vibe. I try google again to see if I can find their presence elsewhere on tumblr. The returns are still all snapshots of their mutual aid post. I open their archive. Ok, their tumblr has archive on...?
There are no fandom-esque posts until the very first reblog, a comment on One Piece fanart on October 18, 2023.
Their first post about needing aid was on November 7, 2023. Nearly the same wording as their pinned post, except they don't mention having a child. Zero specifics on what amount is needed for what or a timeline or anything. Not even anything about Christmas coming up. Tagged generously for trans surgery and other visibility words.
Oh. AND. The buymeacoffee is different. Adela, not Adella.
Then their next post for aid is fresh on January 11, 2024; nearly the same wording, except now there's a daughter and a birthday -- no date for the birthday, though, is there?!
[reblog linked here] If you go to their January 12th reblog and click on the "video proof," it's an audio-only black screen upload to imgur, with no identifying info for what's going on other than what they describe (and it doesn't really sound like what they describe; it sounds like a kid ready for christmas but not disappointed, like idk what more you're supposed to get out of it)
Then I clicked on their buymeacoffee link and noticed something. When I hovered my mouse over the tumblr symbol under their blurb, the link embedded there showed up at the bottom of my screen. And it was NOT casualdonutfire.
It was deepeagletimetravel. And, of course, it's a nuked tumblr. Hence doing NOTHING for me on mobile.
So I went to google again!
And lo, what do I find in those lurking reblogs?
ANOTHER MUTUAL AID POST IN EVERYONE'S REBLOGS. WITH A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PERSONA AND STORY. BUT THE SAME WALL OF TEXT + BAD PUNCTUATION STYLE
Using a stock photo for their initial "bio" that seems awfully misleading when you don't say it's a stock photo.
And with stolen/uncredited art by thetransformistress as a thank you.
And, of course, the buymeacoffee page it linked for Ameera (buymeacoffee.com/AmeeradelzC) is blank. 👀 Totallynormal, nothing to see here.
But this makes me think. I go back to that Nov 7 casualdonutfire post, with their first buymeacoffee link to "Adela" (buymeacoffee.com/adelladomil)--
and what do ya know, the tumblr that opens is casualdonutfire!
So did they forget they made an adela account, and change their ameera buymeacoffee account to adella for their new post, forgetting to change the deepeagletimetravel tumblr name?! 🤷♀️

Update: As of 7/26/2023 all accounts are now down! Unfortunately this kind of scam still pops up as other users so please take caution if you get asks like this from accounts that are only a few days old and don’t show any images as proof of who they are. Always ask questions.
Update 2: As of 8/13/2023, their back under jacrstuffsblog.
[Image ID: A screenshot of an ask sent by jackrisstuff that reads as follows: “Hello sorry for tagging. Please help a black mother in need. I'm diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer which has spread to my lungs, neck and brain. I'm in a very vulnerable situation with no treatment because l'm unable to afford one. Currently I'm homeless with my 19 months old daughter because we cant. Anything appreciated” and ends with a beating heart emoji. /End ID]
Just a heads up to my followers and anyone else, this account blocked me when I requested them to provide evidence that their a real person needing support. Instead of answering my concern and replying to a link that brought up suspicions, they opted to start spamming asks to my mutuals/followers in efforts to try and get them to share the aid post. This is clear proof they don’t intent to prove their a real person needing aid and are just spamming asks to everyone they can find instead of proving they actually need support.
I do not want people to be scammed because a blogger decided to spam my friends askboxes. If you got this ask, I also suggest you to ask the person for proof their legit or block them before they can spam your followers/people you shared from. It’s sickening they likely stole someone’s real fundraiser pictures to pass off as their own ill daughter.
This is exactly the reason why I try to tell people please don’t spam asks to get support. There are scammers who do the same thing and don’t like it when public concern is brought up. The email they give is linked to a suspended twitter account that was sending the same message but had an entirely different pic.
UPDATE!
New url is jacrstuff. Their trying to avoid my alert now which further proves their not legitimate. No one needing aid would change urls like this.
[Image ID: A screenshot of an ask sent by jacrstuff that reads as follows: “Hello sorry for tagging. /End ID]
Update 2: Url change again instead of verifying who they are and still trying to get away from this warning. Now under jacrsstuff.
[Image ID: A screenshot of an ask sent by jacrsstuff that reads as follows: “Please help a black mother in need. I'm diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer which has spread to my lungs, neck and brain. I'm in a very vulnerable situation with no treatment because I'm unable to afford one. Currently I'm homeless with my 19 months old daughter because we cant. I'm struggling for medicines, shelter and groceries that really puts a lot of stress on me. Anything help with a bearing heart emoji used and then and is very much appreciated ending with a praying hand emoji. /End ID]
Additionally, if you search their email provided in their post, it shows up with a suspended twitter account using the photograph of a white adult woman with a child while the asker claims to be a black adult woman with a child. The twitter post seems to use the same exact wording as the askers post though I am unable to find the source of the image they used for the twitter post.
Update again
yollandde on twitter is now running the same scam.

imafandom was/is backdating posts on their blog.
Here is proof. Three different posts that are all from June 12 backdated to look older. I checked other reblogs and it shows every post was made June 12th aside from anything more recent.
As an update, the blog says they didn't think this was a bad thing to do. However, I will keep this post up to provide proof they was backdating posts. You are free to make your own decisions. But please take caution.
Backdating posts is not a good thing to do. It is deceptive and tricks people into thinking a blog is older than it really is.

People who accuse Etoiles of being wrong abotu Aypierre-BBH alliance and knowing nothing about their relationship, I have a few questions for you:
Is your main POV BadBoyHalo?
Do you watch Aypierre and/or Etoiles?
Bc Étoiles knows Aypierre. He knows him for years, he ate at his house, he met his wife and children. They still played to Minecraft together and they talked. He is in a much better position to know what's going on in Aypierre's head than anyone on this site, especially people who don't watch either of them.
Also, Étoiles is in general really good at reading people. Roier fans applauded him for his analyse of Roier's way of rping, he had a 100% accuracy rate in his accusations during an Amoung Us with people a lot better than him at the game, etc, etc, etc. And you think he will not be able to analyse someone he knows for years? When he was on point about a person he really played with for a short time?
Do you remember Étoiles was talking about a troller? Did you notice he was talking about cc!Aypierre and not q!Aypierre?
And more importantly, do you remember it's about a course for COINS? And that no one will die? At worse, BBH will not gain money, which is not that necessary and he planned to not spend them anyways. What's the problem then? It would just be fun and good content by trolling someone.
I don't know who need to hear this but BBH is not the center of everyone else's life. Other person/character have other focus and priority than him. Not "betraying" BBH is not their goal in life. If you're that worried about him, remember he was a nightmare in Purgatory, and not only he didn't apologize but he's not even sorry but everyone is still friends with him (don't fool yourself, he would have been equally awful to Aypierre if they weren't in the same team).
