You know, I was just thinking about the UA entrance exam.
Specifically, how terribly designed it is, but not for the reason they seem to give in the story itself.
Like, here's how it is: Aizawa is shown criticising the UA Entrance Exam once, during the Sports Festival. And the ONE criticism he makes, is that the use of Robot enemies during the exam would disproportionately affect people whose Quirk work against biological opponents, essentially.
His one criticism, is that the exam is not designed to also cater to people like him, and that's it. The way therefore it's set up, it'd be logical to assume he'd ask for a restructuring to the exam to remove the Robots and substitute them with live enemies, possibly Ectoplasm clones.
This is never brought up again, aside from maybe a stealth bring up during the mid term exams when they switch the exam from fighting robots to fighting teachers.
The exam is, and I just got to it myself while watching this video about how Copaganda paints police training and the relative risk police officers face on the job, set up in a very specific environment:
An empty town, where what is essentially a murder spree is taking place. The ONLY entities in the place, outside of fellow examinee, are robots that have been literally designed to attack everyone on sight, and that need to be destroyed to pass. The points granted from saving people are hidden, so they can be more "genuine" of course, and are, ultimately, also part of the problem.
Because here's the fucking thing.
When the fuck is that ever going to happen.
When the fuck, is a superhero, after their 5 years of Hero training in high school, then entering the work force without a need for a decree in higher education, ever going to find themselves in an environment where they can use LETHAL FORCE on civilian targets? With no restraint or care for collateral damage?
And where they are ENCOURAGED to kill as many criminals as they can, and NOT collaborate with other heroes? Because that's another thing, you need to steal points from other people to pass, by culling the number of limited robots, much like heroes are paid by the arrest and by popularity.
You do understand how fucked up that starts to sound right? The other, the enemy, is reduced as a caricature Droid from star wars, there only to kill and destroy, and against whom your only TWO methods of defeat are outright destruction or sneak attacks on their off buttons.
And here's the cherry on the shit too, because, AGAIN, when is that EVER going to be the case?
Do you know how many heroes show up in the first villain attack in BNHA?
Five.
Two are engaging a purse snatcher, three are doing crowd control, the Slime Villain, who may I remind you was guilty of robbery at a convenience store before he got the hostage, gets THE NUMBER ONE HERO, as well as those same FIVE heroes involved, of which only BACKDRAFT is actually doing anything.
Now, imagine you are a hero school, and you produce 40 heroes a year, just like every other hero school out there. How many of those heroes will see active duty, if the rate of crimes demand FIVE heroes to react to ONE criminal?
And people will say "but EDS, this mentality is later rewarded when All Might retires and it all falls to shit," Except NOT REALLY, because that's an externally forced situation caused by, and I can't stress this enough, a hundreds of yeas old NEET boomer who read too many Doctor Doom comics as a kid and decided to become a supervillain, the riots, the open air warfare, is only caused by AFO forcing the hand and inciting popular unrest, which is an unrealistic thing to expect off any society.
In one of the movies, Class 1-A is sent to open an hero agency on a small island with barely a village on it. 20 Heroes. Until the movie truly picks up, the best they do is help kittens from trees, and Bakugou, the sort of person for whom the Entrance Exam was designed, is useless, left in his tent like Achilles, the perfect cowboy cop who peeked in highschool and didn't realize just how much paperwork and dead time his dream job actually entailed.
So that's the ACTUAL Issue with the entrance exam. It take no account for any other mean to beat the robots but brute force, it takes no account for collateral damage, or the sanctity of life of your opponents, and it tests nothing but how good at ending lives you are.
Which is a problem when you're picking future heroes.

How to Choose a Stream?
With boards ending, a lot of you guys are wondering what stream you should choose, and a few people have hmu in my dms asking for advice, so i figured I'd make a post about how I suggest choosing a stream. Fair warning, I am a PCMB student so my advice will be a little science-stream focused because, obviously, I don't know what problems other streams might face, so additions are welcome from other people who have more to add <3
First off, this is one of the most important decisions of your life. This decision determines what the next two years of your life will look like, and it plays a strong role in determining your career for the rest of your life. So don't make this choice lightly.
Make an informed decision. I cannot stress upon this enough- do. your. own. research. Don't trust people who say there is no job opportunity in abc stream or that xyz stream will make your 'life set', all of it is bullshit. Half the time the people giving you these advices finished their schooling 20-30 years ago, respectfully- they have no idea what they're talking about. So sure, listen to everyone's inputs but check everything for yourself.
Websites are your best friend. And no, not "Top 7 High Salary Careers' type websites, I mean college websites. The best way to choose your stream is to explore various careers. For this, start with exploring the type of courses and degrees available, then head to the college's websites and check out the curriculum, the eligibility and the entrance exam requirements. Of course you don't have to choose a degree from now itself, in fact even if you have chosen something 9 times out of 10 you will change your mind by the time 12th ends, but knowing what options there are other than NEET, JEE, CUET and stuff will help you understand if you're more inclined towards science, commerce or humanities.
Subjects change after 10th, for example- what you think physics is and what 11th-12th physics is are two completely different things, so if you are more inclined towards a particular stream, go through the books. Either borrow from your seniors or go through the free NCERT pdfs (ncerts are the easiest versions of science subjects, at least, so your actual material will be 1-2 levels higher in difficulty, keep that in mind). Going through the material is not that efficient because everything seems easy at first glance but it still gives a general idea about the type of stuff you will learn so whatever piques your interest most should be a good choice to consider. I would suggest going through the books of all the streams if you have time, that way you can check which is the best fit for you. (Also go through multiple chapters, not just the first few ones)
Work on attraction rather than elimination. Dismissing a stream just because you don't like one subject in it is not a good way to go about it. Choose the stream which has a majority of subjects you do like, rather than choosing one which has the least number of subjects you don't like. Overall the purpose of a stream in 11th-12th is to get you into your desired course in college, so your biggest indication of stream will be the degrees you like, not the subjects you don't like.
Remember to prioritize yourself and your choices, trust yourself. People might have all sorts of opinions about what stream you should take and what career you should pursue. Of course some people have your best interests in mind, but ultimately it is you who has to go through with it. Being pushed into making certain choices is really harmful because there is absolutely no motivation to keep going once it gets hard (and it will). So it is best to choose your own poison so that when times get hard you know that this is something you actually really want and that way you will genuinely feel like working for it, rather than being forced to work hard for something you aren't even sure you want to do.
Don't stress too much. I know I said this is a super important decision, and it is, but it is not life ending. You can only do so much and there is no guarantee whether what you choose today will work out for you two years down the line. And that's okay. Remember that there is always an option to change plans, no matter how far along you are. So don't bind yourself to the choice you make today, you always have more options. Try your best to choose what feels right for you, and if situations change later in life, so can your plans.
If you don't know what exactly you want to do with your life, stop blaming yourself for it. I promise 90% of us had no idea what we were doing when we were your age either, even if we thought we knew what we wanted, we didn't. It's okay to not know what you want to do for the rest of your life when you're 15 or 16. Trust your gut and try your best to be informed about the stream you're choosing. As you go along, you will find your calling when the time is right. It's never too late, you'll be fine
lots of love to everyone starting on this really tedious path, the next two years will teach you a lot about yourselves and I hope you all make the best of it, all the best <3

Have you joined any coaching institute like Aakash, Allen, etc.? If yes, then would you recommend it?
hi! okay so, basically, when i was 11th, i joined a coaching institute... not so well known like Aakash or Allen, but one of those which prepares you for both NEET and JEE... and i would not recommend it. here are some disadvantages of joining coaching classes or institutes like these, in your plus 1 and plus 2 —
not trying to shit on these institutes... just speaking from personal experience
the syllabus does not progress at the same pace in your institute and your school. and these might result in you lagging behind with your school... which again, may effect your results in school examinations just because your institute hasn't yet caught up with the school syllabus.
it takes up a lot of time. my friend in is Aakash since 11, and her batch timing is Monday 3:30 to 8, Friday 5 to 9, Saturday 9 to 1:30, Sunday 3:30 to 9... my institute timings were Thursday and Friday 6:30 to 9, Saturday 3 to 9, Sunday 9 to 4... too much, and believe me, continuously itne ghante padhne se ghanta juch samajh aata hai... it's really difficult to grasp the concepts in a monotonous lesson
the teacher student ratio isn't even. for bigger institutes like Aakash or Allen, it's almost 1 teacher for 60 students... as per what my friend said. for me, since it was a smaller centre, the batch was of 15, but still, one to one attention na milne se it's really difficult
in some places (not all) you have to maintain 75% attendance
there's separate assignments and exams you gotta prep for, the syllabus for which might from what's currently going on in your school... so you have to devote time separately to prepare simultaneously for both places
so all in all, this is why i would not recommend getting into coaching institutes for 11th and 12th... because basically ye sab ek factory hai and they are taking in 100s of students each year and honestly? they don't give a shit about you or your academics. sirf paisa lene ka baat hai and jo ek do jan bohot meritorious students hote hai, unko hi jyada attention dekar AIR rank milne ke baad in sab institute apne aap ko promote karte hai...
so yeahh, i feel it's better to take all private tuitions at home for whichever subjects you have... because it saves time and the tutors go according to what's being done at school... and utna pressure bhi nahi dalte so yeahh

Okay ray serious question
I'm giving neet this year and I know mere number nahi aane wale, dad knows too
I personally don't want to become a doctor but my dead mother wanted me to become one
So like should I take a drop or just roll with it and go to a normal uni?
It's a tricky thing ngl I've seen so many students who are here only because it's their parents dream. Tbh mbbs can be fun minus the syllabus part, it's overwhelming. Neet prep ain't nothing compared to it but passing uni exams is a bit easier than neet.
Talk to your dad about it. The final decision is yours. Once you're here you'll stay here for the next 5 years (I won't suggest dropping out, having a degree as a backup is always good). If you think you can fight these 5 years just because your mom wanted you to be here and become a doc you should do it, if not then no.
Better stay happy somewhere else than be a loner here. Talk to your dad. The life ahead is always gonna be busy and harsh.

I really need to say this to *anyone* but people are stressed with exams rn so I don't wanna bother anybody and ugh like yeah. Just gotta get some stuff out:
1) I'm so fucking stressed about neet. I had it kinda rough last year, so my prep inadvertently slipped a bit and I was hoping for a real good college like aiims or smth, but now I feel like I'm gonna barely manage a mediocre one. Still I've thought that if my result isn't satisfactory I'll try again next year. Got nothing to lose. Just, saddens me a bit sometimes
2) my dad is just. Making things so much harder. I really wanna escape this house. I'm so tired.
3) my boyfriend is so wonderful! I love him so much. Heh just. Really wonderful and thoughtful and sweet. Heh. I love him. I'm so glad to have him. He makes the days bearable and is motivation enough. Heh.
Hi, it's going to be okay. just take too much stress and try to not over work yourself. i can tag some neet people that i know tho. and like you can give it next year with better prep yk if it goes wrong but im sure it'll be fine.
just some months and you'll be out of the house. ik staying in your house everyday really does things to ur brain, anyways it's good for u to have a bf. he sounds good. we are here if u want to talk with us.

I am moving out from here on 14th April. My brother has his jee on 13th after which we will head back home to Durgapur. I have lived here in odisha, my native state for three years now. As a child, we never visited other tourist places much. We only got time to visit our grandparents and cousins. My cousins lived where I live now: Nalco, Angul. I wanted to live here when I was a kid just to stay with my cousins and play with them until I was forced to stay in odisha instead of completely my high school in kolkata like we were supposed too and then living here in Angul was suggested by chacha chachi, so we did, with hopes of getting something good out of it.
I am here only for nine more days. I had arrived here on 15th August where the physics sir had told us to quickly study S block and give a test in two hours. I remember how I felt like crying. We had just reached this place, barely opened our luggage, and I was hearing this neet jee for an hour and then a test. I wanted to sleep, but somehow I studied and I had scored really bad. Like I do often, I ended up crying in the car. I was like mummy dance class band kar dete hai abhi padhai pe hi dhyan dungi. For someone who loves dance a lot, I have told my mother to cancel dance classes because I thought that I wasn't good enough to do both because I was lacking in my studies, and as for every middle class person, job and money comes first and then your dreams until your job money dream everything lies in one single thing.
Well, my dance class continued, I gave my dance exam online, completed learning a few items too, wrote stories and studied hard. I have wasted time too by crying or by simply procrastinating or sometimes I would engage myself in dance or writing for a much longer time than scheduled. And now all of this will end. I will wrap my things again and go home. Now I have lived in durgapur for only a month. I loved it so I am looking forward to it now.
It feels surreal. I wanted to move out of this place so badly in the initial months. I still want too. But now looking back, this experience has made me feel grateful and wiser about so many things. My school friends from kolkata still complain that why I had to go to odisha and stay there, but I am happy I did. As a tenth grader, I lived in my own world and had a pink dream idea of being with my friends, wearing fashionable clothes, attending parties and fests and studying ofc, nothing much.
Over here each and every expectation, every dream was broken. Like they say, to find yourself one needs to lose themselves too, which I did. That was a really dark phase. Alone, with no one and no idea how and why is this happening to you. But some time later I rediscovered myself again. It was art, poetry, stories and dance. It was me connecting back to God, whom I had forgotten in the glitz and glamour of big cities. I read the same ramayana mahabharata and folk tales, but I had begun finding learning lessons from them which as a child I was only enamoured by the story, the drama and visuals.
The things 13year old samridhi enjoyed, I no longer enjoy them anymore. The clothing, the music, the lifestyle everything has taken a 360 degree turn. Once I enjoyed parties and loud music, we used to have some in kolkata sometimes and I loved it. Now, I don't think I can. I want to have friends and make memories and enjoy, but no longer with music drinks and stuff. Somewhere simple and meaningful.
I know that in the upcoming months there are going to be many changes, but these experiences shall stay with me and remind me to be humble and rooted to the ground. I have seen the rich, sparkles and exciting rush and also the slow life, muddy roads, farms and simple people simple towns. There is still more to see in the near future, but to live through all this is a big thing for an 18 year old.
And if it were not sambalpur and angul, I wouldn't have known how strangers can be loving, how certain people hold such a great mark over you and your story, and how colourful life can be.

Uh I'm sorry if it's long but please hear me out
On 15th of April i had an accident and i dislocated my patella due to which I was on bed for almost two months because of my plaster
And so i missed school for whole month of May💀💀
I'm in 12th(biology student) ICSE board. So apparently I missed a lot of syllabus which was taught in school and when I had the accident I broke my glasses too🙂😫... and to get me new glasses I was supposed to visit the ophthalmologist which I could not becuz of my strict bedrest..... So for the whole month of May i couldn't study and now when my plaster is removed I'm still advised not to walk much and rest as much as possible
The work is piled up on me like hell and i was aiming for NEET but now when I could not go for coaching and stuff I'm getting really really stressed over my studies. I bought online subscription but i still doubt if I will be able to achieve what I want through it.....
I'm sorry for ranting out😐😐✨.... But i need your advice in this matter... Please
I'm hoping others add to this so i'll tag them but for the starters-
I'm also giving competitive exams (engi ones) but i think it will be universal when i say not to take useless anxiety from the fact that you had a late start and now have backlog.
You know, my teacher told me that a student will always have backlog after some months of studying. Not even students, adults have backlogs too, even he did. So terming the study material you need to study as backlog, putting it in a corner and fearing it is something one should not do. Instead they should make a plan and face it head-on however much they can face of it.
First of all, believe that you can do it because you can. All you need is a plan and a very determined self.
Determined because- see ik what it is to start studying properly again after a long unplanned break. The rhythm is broken, you feel you're not doing enough and you can't do as much as you did in the past. It's natural, believe me. But sitting and being depressed about it isn't the best way. I was depressed about how down i had fallen and it was no fun full anxiety and sleepless nights. And then i did the one thing which came to my mind and just told my parents about what i had been suffering for the past weeks and cried. I haven't cried infront of my dad for years and it took me a lot of effort to confess my anxieties to him because i always thought i'll feel weak after sharing my failures. But i didn't. I have never felt so light and unburdened. And he consoled me and talked to me and reassured me. From then on, i tried doing better than i did yesterday. i didn't compare myself to anyone else, i compared myself to my past self and even if it took time, even if it's taking time, i'm getting better. And it's better than sitting and being depressed about it. I have the college i want written infront of my desk and i see it every morning.
At last, according to my friend, NCERT is important for NEET and she advised to do that instead of stressing over lengthy materials you think you don't have enough time to do.
But as i'm not a neet student-
@ramayantika @the-procrastination-god @lok-dayro add your opinions and everyone that's giving neet pls help a fellow mate.

My NEET Journey
NEET, a medical entrance exam in India, hmm is it tough? Maybe, Is it competitive? Yes! There's a lot of competition in it, nearly 15-16 lakh students enroll each year and the number of seats there is 40-50 thousand, in each and every nook and corner we can find a Neet aspirant but someone who becomes an actual medico from being an aspirant is rare. I'm one of those aspirants too, an NEET 2022 aspirant.
Today : 17-06-2022,
1 month prior to NEET 2022. All emotions are running in me, the happiness if I would get selected and the emotional damage I'd have to face if I didn't. Sometimes feeling that I wouldn't have to go through these if I hadn't spent my past 2 years in vain. 2020, I had passed my 10th ICSE exams, well even though we wrote the exam we were labeled as " THE CORONA BATCH " lol. well now, my 11th was online and it's obvious if it's online there would be cheating. And my fate I did that too, and then 2021 again another lockdown, I felt, "Did our life seem like a joke to covid? " well I guess everyone's life did seem like a joke to it, nevermind. I tried to focus on my backlogs and my 12th and the cheating tempted me again, and neither did I clear my backlogs nor did I focus on my 12th. In September 2021, our government announced that they would conduct our First-year exams, there's it, had to put my NEET books aside and focus on my first-year public exams, well maybe my luck I did pass them with a good percentile. November, our NEET schedule began again, I lived in a boarding school, hmmm did I study well there? No :( I couldn't even grasp a single thing they taught, I wasted my 2 months there, doing nothing but staring at the blank space while they taught. January 2022, corona third wave, well it wasn't that long, thankfully but soon it was about to end when our government said they'd conduct our second-year exams. In February, we had practicals, March, our college started our NEET revision, and honestly I regret for not concentrating then, March passed, April arrived, Our public exams were in May and we started preparing for them, NEET aside for one month more.
On May 23rd, the short-term batch for NEET began, I know I wouldn't study there but the devil called and had to go, there wasn't a single day where I didn't cry in the washroom regretting my decision and not raising my voice that I cannot concentrate here. On June 10th after a lot of struggle, I got out of that hell, came home, and started studying. Now I'm here, one more month to go, still completing my syllabus, and giving some tests, in a hope that something magical would happen in the end if I pour my whole blood sweat, and tears. I'll wait for it.

NEET UG Toppers’ Tips: ‘Pressure is not because exam is tough but due to high competition,’ says AIIMS-Delhi student
NEET UG: Rishit Agarwal from Rudrapur, Uttarakhand suggests that NCERT books are a must and one needs to regularly revise the topics.
Tumblr media
NEET UG 2024: Inspired by his doctor parents, Rishit Agarwal decided to prepare for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG. He wishes to pursue medicine and plans to study master’s from abroad. The 19-year-old secured an All India Rank 27 in the NEET UG 2022.
He speaks to indianexpress.com on how he prepared for the NEET UG.
How did you prepare for NEET UG?
I religiously followed the NCERT, studied the subjects thoroughly and solved a lot of mock tests.
I never counted my hours instead focussed on productivity or rather what I have studied. I would set small goals and work hard to achieve them. I also made sure to get proper sleep. I would sleep at 12 am and wake up at 7:30 am. I used to have classes from 2 pm to 8 pm and did self-study in the remaining time.
Do you feel NEET aspirants are under pressure due to the difficulty level?
There is pressure for sure but not because the exam is difficult but because the competition is too high.
Which books did you refer to?
I referred to HC Verma for Physics as well coaching modules. MS Chauhan, Narendra Awasthi and coaching tutors notes for Chemistry. Cengage by Hariom Gangwar and coaching modules for Biology. I studied from these books in addition to NCERT.
What did you do for recreational purposes?
I used to listen to music or talk with my family and friends whenever I felt overwhelmed or got tired of studying.
What advice would you give students who will be appearing for NEET UG?
NCERT is a must, study it thoroughly and solve a lot of mock tests. Revise all topics, especially the volatile ones as many times as possible. And, do your best and not focus on other things or get scared because of the competition.

Sorry for the late reply I was gone for doubts at coaching😭✋
(I'm so afraid of my physics wala sir I love him buy it's like I don't wanna seem dumb to him and I just wanna make him proud but like altho I'm smarter than most guys Im not there yet? Like I could be better and so alsjsksja I live on academic validation so yes. And I asked him doubts aaj finally [he's very busy do you can never catch him] and he said I asked decent questions (usually he calls every question to be medical level physics (which is lower than maths in India)(It's a very jee and neet (if you know what they are) thing lmao)) so yes.) decent equated to good here
Also jalebis remind me, have you had imartis? And yes the sri lankan side was so solemn💀(especially since the final was in SL)
its okay bby u can take as much time as u want <33
also omg talking about physics teachers😭😭😭giving me flashbacks to last year <\333 i was just like you i took bio and physics and math and math was chill for me but id literally do so much shit just to impress my bio and phy teachers and when they'd praise me i literally felt like i was high. academic validation is something else
and yes yes ive heard of jee and neet they are like exams that get you into specific colleges yeah? esp the stem ones i assume?
yes i may have had imaratis <33 i have a literal sweet tooth which my dad loves indulging. theres this street thats completely Pakistani vibes and we always go there like on special occasions and my dad has basically made me try every desi sweet there is available from the sweet shop so im sure i had them too at some point.

Importance of Time Management for NEET – UG Preparation
“I can solve all the questions, but time - it passed too soon.” “How do I solve the questions in limited time?” “If I had got more time, I had solve maximum questions.”
These lines are common to hear whenever the medical aspirants share their NEET exam experiences. National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts NEET exam each year in all over India and time duration for this exam is 3 hours and 20 minutes in which about 200 questions are asked from three subjects – Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Despite considering the allotted time duration as standard, many students are unable to crack the exam in the given time frame. In fact, it has been seen that most of the applicants fail to get the adequate marks because they find themselves juggling with time while solving the paper. This’s why top faculties instruct to give extra emphasis on speed accuracy and time management.
Tumblr media
Time management is one of the key factors which can affect your scores if not managed efficiently. For solving the maximum questions in 200 minutes, there are some points to keep in mind which can enable you in a better way. Like,
a) Keep the watch beside you while solving the questions – According to the allotted time by NTA, you are given 1 minute (60 seconds) for solving every single question. So, when you practice the sample papers, keep eyes on every second and check the duration of time you took to solve the question. This will avail you to monitor the time and improve the speed accuracy.
b) Practice makes a man perfect – This’s not just a saying. When you are preparing for one of the prestigious exams – NEET (UG), you have to gear up for rigorous practice in which every single second matters. So, make the routine you can follow easily. And setup your mind for exam and embark the preparation today.
c) Test series for improving speed accuracy – No matter what, however never miss any single test. These test series are planned and designed in such a way that works on your speed accuracy and enable you for an upcoming exam. Not only this, test series and mock tests check your performance also on various levels, such as conceptual clarity, problem solving skills and more.
d) Allot the time for doing preparation as well as staying healthy – While preparing, escape from over burdening yourself as well as neglecting your health. For achieving the goal, your health matters a lot. Therefore, keep your mind, body and soul completely fresh and relaxed.
Author’s Bio – These ideas have been shared by a renowned faculty at Chaitanya’s Academy located in Baramati. He has been teaching NEET aspirants for a decade and is known for giving phenomenal results in the exam.

Re: the wisdom about colleges
so the thing for medical is a bit different because you have to give exams to practice in a specific country and they might have different curriculums for that so it's better to study medicine where you want to practice it (not to mention the visa and citizenship issues) but if you want to go to uk and live in London i really feel like you should go for it!!! So i had no one to tell me about all this when i was in junior year (I'm in engineering tho) but you have soooo much time to do stuff and you can absolutely get a good scholarship! The thing about uk admissions is that they put most weightage on your grades and academic achievements (compared to the usa which is more holistic and puts a good amount of weightage on extracurriculars though it is easier to get a scholarship there since uk is considered to be more of ~ cost effective ~ decision)
I know the Indian exam is cutthroat and how for med there's no good private colleges and it's all dependant on neet only! so i guess either way you decide to go, you should be more focused on academics!! for uk I'd recommend giving those international olympiads and there's also this Duke of Edinburgh thing that you should look into because they really love it when you show interest in their country!! they're going to assess grades personal statement and something huge you've done for scholarships and admission although the scholarships are more available for people in their country so you might wanna try for external scholarships ( both situated in the uni and also for students going abroad from india in india)!! but i guess my main advice is to accumulate some or the other academic achievement, and volunteering Related to your major specifically cause they're very adamant about that and that part is not very flexible!! if you wanna know about the usa adm let me know because I've more info about that
I really feel like you should talk to people who have gone there and abroad counselors who know their stuff ( a lot of them don't give a shit so find a good one that can advise you ) I'm pretty sure you'll find something useful!! I still regret i didn't have enough resources to make an informed decision and you're about to start your junior year so it's perfect!!!
Hi, hello, Thank you so much for this!!!! :) My main goal for these 2 years will definitely be good grades, A* for my three subjects and a really good percentage for twelfth boards. I don’t really put much on the table in terms of extracurriculars so that’s another reason for applying to UK over The US. I’ve taken part in olympiads!! and will be trying my best this year for an international/national rank. Thank you for telling me about the DofE, I will definitely look into it!!! I’m preparing for NEET primarily so that will hopefully with the BMAT cause I thumbed through sample papers & it does seem to cover the same topics (as the subjects are same). I’m not, per se, worried about the IELTS. For volunteering, that’s the part that I’m most clueless about cause that kind of thing isn’t required for getting into any medical college in India but once I’m through with exams, results, academics, that part may seem easier so I’m keeping it for the rear end as there is a pretty long window between neet exam versus results. I’ll definitely consult a counsellor around that time, too. Right now, focusing on my studies will prepare me for both the NEET & the collective bio-medical admission test they’ve in the UK.

Hello. I'm really unsure while typing this out. But the past one year of my life has been really tough. It has been awful. I have seen all the bad and somehow I've survived through it. But now that I think of myself and my mental state, I realise I'm not the person I used to be. I'm not happy, focused and even optimistic. I'm feeling like everything that's going on right now is making me lose my mind. I'm not good at relationships, at studies, at socializing, at anything. I'm losing myself. But I low-key want to feel alive again. And I want to feel normal again.
Being a brown kid, you don't get to talk about these "mental" things to anyone. And bc of this, i have been my own therapist since I was in grade 10 (bc highschool is a mess). And I had a good control over my feelings and everything. But after highschool I've started neglecting my mental peace a lot and the past year has crushed me to the core. I feel like I can't take it anymore. I've tried everyday to push through it but this way, the journey feels endless.
So, I've talked to my father and have decided to change things a little bit. One thing that I am sure of is that this year, I won't be getting any medical colleges. And I'll have to take a drop year to prepare myself again for the exam. And that is going to be my first and last drop year. If I make it med school, its great. But if I don't, then I'll have to with other options (which, I'm not sure about, as of now). So I'm going to take it easy. I'm going to not overload myself with undue stress. I have to travel out of state in August and if I keep thinking about NEET 2021, I'll keep thinking that the trip is forced on me and is a waste of time. But I want to enjoy it. I want to see my family and be happy about it. So I'm going to take it easy this time. Not panic or anything. Not overstress and regret for sleeping an extra hour. I'm going to make changes.
I'm going to study for atleast 8 hours everyday and take care of myself too. I'm going to focus on what makes me happy and give time to religious practices too. Its going to be a good one. I promise to myself. I'm going to take care of my mind and maintain a healthy relationship with studies. I hope everyone or anyone who reads this, understands the importance of balancing your own life with your work/studies. Its important to let yourself be free from all the stress in the world and grow at your own pace.

What to expect on 12th September? (NEET 2021)
Tumblr media
Hey everybody, if you're appearing for the NEET 2021 exam this Sunday (12th September 2021), I've compiled a list of some important things you might want to keep in mind.
The National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test (NEET) is the national medical entrance exam in India. It is the only gateway into all medical schools in the country. It is conducted annually around May, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been postponed to September in 2020 and 2021. This year, 1.6 million students will be appearing for the exam.
[This list is by no means exhaustive, I only speak from my experience and the advice of friends and teachers. Feel free to add anything I might have missed out!]
How to make the most of this last week before the exam?
Do not experiment with anything new. Doing so might disturb the delicate subconscious programming that your brain has undergone through all these months of studying and practicing. By experimentation, I mean anything other than the routine that you've built while solving question papers. If you're used to starting with Biology, then moving on to Chemistry and ending with Physics, do not attempt to spice up your 3 hours by indulging in adventure sports like staring with Physics first. This will end in disaster.
Look through all the important things at least once. I know, I know. That's 10 fat books in one week. But remember that this is not the first time you're reading it. Skim. When you catch on something you're not too familiar with, only then should you actually read.
NCERT = holy book. Idk if you've heard but actually reading the books prescribed by the examining body will most definitely give you an edge over someone who hasn't. I cannot stress this enough. They will LITERALLY take out things from the NCERT and slap that onto the paper and call it a day. Remember that the examiners have to cater to those who do not have access to / cannot afford any sort of study material other than the NCERT. While study guides can help you interpret the NCERT, they cannot substitute it.
Have a plan. It doesn't have to be grand or very detailed. Just clearly defining what you intend to do with your time will suffice.
Set your internal clock. Practice at least one exam a day from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm IST because that's when the actual exam is held. You want to maximize concentration and attention at that time of the day.
Practice answering on OMR sheets. This year, because of COVID, all your mock tests were probably online. In that case, take a few hours to practice exams on the OMR. The time management on that is very different from online exams.
Eat well. Remember to drink plenty of water. Try to eat things that have come directly from the earth and onto your plate. I know it's hard and the anxiety is enough to make you under eat / overeat but messing up because of something as trivial as meal choices would kinda suck tbh. Please do not eat an entire large pizza all by yourself the day before the exam. Stay the hell away from carbonated drinks for at least this one week. I am begging you. You might not notice but they seriously mess with your head. Whole foods are the way 2 go babes
What to expect on the day of the examination?
The NTA will be releasing the admit cards 3 days before the exam. Your exam centre and time slot to show up will be mentioned on it. This is most probably done to (a) prevent unfair practices and (b) give students enough time to visit the centre.
Know your exam centre beforehand. If you're living with your parents who will be driving you to the centre, you could even ask them to visit the centre the day before just so you don't waste time searching for the centre on the day of the exam. Believe me, a lot of people have lost an entire year because of this.
The peeing. Listen. They'll allow you to go to the washroom in the middle of the exam, of course. But if you ask me, try to avoid getting up to pee. Try to time your water such that you wouldn't have to pee during the exam. Please make sure you pee right before the exam. Idk about you but the exam pee has always been a real problem for me and together with my anxiety, it has ruined a lot of exams. It also breaks your momentum and you'll have to re-orient yourself when you get back. NEET isn't like JEE - it's not about how smart you are, it's about how efficient and accurate you are, because that's what a doctor needs to be.
Eat a light, nutritious meal. Something that'll give you energy but isn't too hard to digest. You don't want to nod off during the exam. That would be highly inconvenient.
Be on time. If you don't turn up on time, no matter what, you will not be allowed inside. Again, a lot of people I know have messed up here.
Security check. You will be checked before entering the centre. Do not wear anything dark (black, dark blue, dark brown etc). Do not wear jeans or any tight clothes. All your clothes must fit loosely and they must be light. This is done to prevent people from sneaking in transmission devices. If you wear long sleeves, you will be asked to cut them then and there. Do not wear heavily embroidered clothes. Do not have any metal on you. Take off all jewelry at home. If you wear a bra, remember to wear a sports bra or one that doesn't have any metal hooks. You can't wear shoes - your feet must be visible. Wear flip-flops or thin sandals. People have been made to take off their shoes before and write the exam barefoot. They will provide a fresh mask at the centre and gloves. This time, due to COVID-19 restrictions, they will not be doing body pat frisking, they will not be checking your ears and mouth. There will be bluetooth jammers in the exam hall to prevent any transmissions and the entire exam will be videographed.
Stay calm. I know it looks like a high security airport check and you'll probably be scanned several times and subjected to several layers of screening but remember - this is done so that nobody has an unfair advantage over you. India has incredibly clever people, but sometimes for the wrong reasons.
While writing the exam:
Don't panic. If you see a question that looks hard do! not! panic! because we always know more than we think we do!! Wait a second, linger for a moment and the answer should come to you.
Know what to leave. If you aren't aiming to get a perfect 720/720 then you should leave time consuming questions and try to do as many questions you know as possible. If you are aiming for a perfect score, do the same but remember that you need to leave sufficient time at the end to come back to them.
Repeat. Remember - this is just another one of the hundreds of exams you've done. Follow the same strategy you're used to. Most definitely DO NOT experiment in the final exam.
Lastly, always remember that ur super cool and smart and amazing and one mistake won't define you. Your worth is inherent and not determined by an exam. Your timeline is very different from someone else's. This is not a race, it's about doing things right. Your physical and mental health are more important than anything else in life. Do your best today and try again tomorrow. And then the day after that.
If you have any questions, feel free to message me :))
Best of luck!!

06.06.21. ✨ 55 days for Neet 2021.
I completed circular motion chapter of physics today. I realized I was scared of mechanics for no reason at the start of the year. Did a sheet of practice questions now I'm going to do some more.
Revising the cockroach part of biology for the last 3 hours and honestly I didn't think of cockroaches too much earlier but now I hate them from every fibre of my being. It's okay I get it you represent your entire phylum but so many details ugh. The problem is biology Ncert's tho for compiling 6 pages worth of info in 2 🤷🤦🏽‍♀️
Anyways, the neet postpone drama and the nervousness of the exam has settled in now. I'm feeling so underprepared ( I am underprepared lol) I have no choice but to study and give an honest attempt.
All the best to anyone who's giving exams or having tests, you will ace them. I believe in you.
Take care of yourself, stay hydrated. And yes thank you for existing💕✨
