Tamul thunder (in Explore 21-04-2023) by Wim van de Meerendonk, back for spring! The Huasteca Potosina was one of the regions I wanted to visit in Mexico because of the many waterfalls in this area. The most precious jewel in this region is the Tamul waterfall. This is a detail of this majestic fall, later there will be more because I have loads of shots, I just couldn't stop. Unfortunately, as with many rainforest areas in the world there is a massive logging going on also in this part of the world. Large parts of the rainforest are being demolished to plant sugar cane here. Many waterfalls in this area are now drying up during the dry season, because the water is used for the irrigation of the sugar cane plantations. Homesick for Bolivia again. La Paz, I wish to be there.

I wish to stand on the edge from Ciudad Satelite and look over the sprawling city at dusk, the lights coming on and glowing like stars, catching glimpses from Illimani's peak. I wish to see the familiar route down from El Alto to my aunt's apartment again. I even wish the burn of little air as I go up the flights of stairs to said apartment slowly so I don't get altitude sickness.

I want to be walking the streets at noon and stop to buy some salteñas potosinas. I want to stop by the family's favorite fricasé restaurant to buy enough for the family, and then take the minibus back up the slope. I want to drink trimate and spend time with my cousins - see their more recent art, discuss artists, share videos. I want to walk down a street and see the retama blooming.
