Both Oak and Dain had horns, goat legs, blonde curly hair and the same eye colour but NONE of us realised they were father and son. Not even the book characters.

Interact with me? tfota this or that? except, give me ‘two scenes’ or ‘two dialogues’ or ‘any two parallels’ or even ‘two different songs/lyrics for one scene’ and ask me which I would choose over the other (because ofc. I love everything about these books, and choosing one doesn't undervalue the other) anon is on, btw

screenshots from victoria aveyard's instagram where a doctor(?) she knows explains some of details of being stabbed through the hand
one of the few issues i had with tfota was that i assumed jude would probably have some long term issues from stabbing her hand in tcp but once it healed she was never described as having limited range of motion or anything. this is really informative and since dain specifically instructed to her stab where it would cause the least damage and i'm assuming he would've given her an appropriately thin blade to prevent severe problems, it's actually not as big as a issue as i thought it would be. sharing in case anyone else found it interesting

Is noone gonna talk about the fact that in tcp, in that scene where Jude gets poisoned by the faerie fruit, they see 7 shooting stars and Jude describes that at as dozen deaths. I haven't heard anyone mention that that could have been foreshadowing what was to come later during the coronation as 6 Fae died then (Elowyn, Eldred, Dain, Rhyia, Caelia and Taniot) and also Valerian earlier on which makes 7 deaths like prophecied.
I thought it was really clever, nothing a reader would have really paid attention too.

i love how Oak has a little of all his family members in him.
Etiquette and pragmatism from Oriana
Murder mode similar to Madoc's bloodthirst
Definitely Jude's anger
Vain, Charming, Flirtatious like Cardan
Playful like Vivi, Coy like Taryn
With a pinch of lovetalk from Liriope
And ofc, the Greenbriar bloodline from Dain

So… I LOVE JUDE ! Very quiet literally ! Cause she not only was the main character of her books but she was also the main character of her brothers books, which ultimately makes her THE MAIN CHARACTER!
Also can we appreciate the balance oak was between Cardan and Locke ? Despite majority my literal being despising Locke with all my wit I cannot help but notice how oak’s thoughts are all like that of Cardans’ but majority of his actions at least till the whole of stolen heir and more than half of the prisoner’s throne were that of Lockes’. Though at the end he did a lot of actions like that resembling Cardan or even Dain. But no one can deny that oak is the perfect mixture of Locke and Cardan !

There are two ways for mortals to become permanent subjects of the Court: marrying into it or honing some great skill. (TCP, Jude while getting ready for a revel) Do not reveal all that you can do. Show your power by appearing powerless. That is what I need from you.” (TCP, Dain to Jude, after the hand-stabbing scene) But I cannot forget his words to me: You are my creature, Jude Duarte. I touch my wounded hand to the hilt of my silver sword, the sword my father forged. After tonight, I will be the High King’s spy and a true member of his Court. (TCP, Jude during the coronation but before it went GoT) There were only two ways of being part of the court without raising suspicion. And Dain told Jude explicitly to not show any of her skills. Jude should have been way more worried about what Dain was planning for her.

Desire is an odd thing. As soon as it’s sated, it transmutes. If we receive golden thread, we desire the golden needle.

I’ve always thought it was funny when Dain wanted jude to spy for him instead of being his knight she said “It feels a little bit like expecting a proposal of marriage, only to get offered the role of mistress.”
And cardan slept in the “mistress” room when he was “king” but in reality it was Jude being a“king” and in turn cardan was now Jude’s mistress.
The quote is mainly from Jude’s pov but it belongs to cardan as well. “it feels a little bit like expecting a proposal of marriage”= jude saying let’s team up and work together “only to get offered the role of a mistress”= you’ll do whatever I say for a year and you’ll be king but I’ll be running the show until oak is old enough
I need cardans version even more bc I wanna know did he feel like jude did in that scene?? ha you thought we were working together?? Well we’re not so get on the throne and rule but oh wait I’m really ruling your just my pawn so then in twk he perfected the lifestyle of “no fucks given” bc at the end of the day he really isn’t running anything so he tricked jude (ie banishment) like how jude tricked him with the false ruling

Not the normal Cardan being horny, but I like this paragraph After a moment of silence, we both erupted in loud and obnoxious laughter. There was no way in hell that the crown would ever fall on my head. My father resented me, my brothers were worthier, and my sisters were wiser. I was the youngest, the mistake. I was also the one with the horrible prophecy hanging over my future. Not that Nicasia knew about that.

If I have to compare the Duarte sisters to the Greenbrier brothers I would have to say Vivi is Cardan, Taryn is Dain and Jude is Balekin...
Vivi and Cardan are the chaotic wild child, they (mostly) do what they want when they want to. Jude and Balekin are people that you do not want to mess around when you know their reputation. Taryn and Dain on the other hand have crafted their mask to deceive others and themselves of how awful they can be

I have a random theory that I thought about one night that I want to share. It was mentioned multiple times that Cardan and Balekin are alike right? Well what if Eldered isn’t Cardan’s father and it’s actually Balekin. Like think about it Eldered was sleeping with Lady Asha and what if Balekin was too,he could have done the same thing that Dain did except Lady Asha isn’t one of Eldered’s consorts like Liriope but you get it. It’s random , far fetched , and there isn’t much to back this theory up , but it’s kinda interesting if you think about it.
