FUN FACT! - a set of commissioned pins, hand carved and printed by yours truly. 3” x 1 1/2” each
As you may or may not know, I’ve worked the Maryland renaissance festival for the last three seasons, with this season likely being my last full one for a long while. These pins were commissioned by my boss to celebrate a group of patrons who have visited us consistently (almost) every single day of the fair for the past three years. Rain or shine, they graced our presence with love, joy, and of course, FUN FACTS!
I Hope I’ll be able to visit next season, but until then, Hazzah!

ok uhhhhh oh my god your swords are so fucking cool, i have a two part question which is; how long does it take u to make them, and uh, would you ever. do commissions
Hah, okay. The three swords hanging on the wall I did not make--two I bought from RenFest, and one is a foam rendition of a Game of Thrones sword.
Tumblr media
This one, I did make. (It’s also longer than it looks in this picture because of the angle I’m holding my phone at.) I 3D printed the entire hilt, then carved and drilled and sanded and painted the wood. It’s good for cosplay because it’s super light, but you cannot hit things with it or use it for LARP. So.
The answer is, I’m not really sure. One, I didn’t make the 3D object file that I used to print the hilt, so I’d have to ask the creator’s permission to use it for commercial purposes. Two, it’s at least $15 in filament and 7-ish hours in 3D printer time. (I work at a library with 3D printer access literally right beside my desk. Which is both a blessing and a curse--I have to do all the patron prints, but I can also slide my own prints in there when we’re not busy. However it’s hard to carve out 7 hours of printing for my own time.) That’s not even factoring in carving/cutting the blade, drilling holes for the rod to drill it all together, and painting it--that’s several hours of work, plus supplies (metal rod, wood, paint, Rub-n-Buff). I’m also going to be extraordinarily busy between work/school/cosplay/travel/cons between now and October.
So I guess? If you really, really want me to make you one, message me off-anon and we can see about it, but it’s going to be a few months until I can work on it and it’s going to run you a pretty penny. It’s a cool thing to have, but you can also buy a foam replica on Amazon for $60. :-) Just a thought.

FIVE FACTS
It ain’t Munday anymore but that’s okay! I got tagged by @aleanissa to post five facts about myself so uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh HERE WE GO:
1. I’ll be heading to a recording studio this Thursday to record my first single. I’ll be releasing said single May 5th after I give my favorite band (and the ones who inspired me to do this again- go through my blog and you’ll figure out who it is p quick) the first printed copy.
2. I cry stupidly easy. I’m not a sad person, but I am very emotionally connected. I cry when I’m super happy/happy for others, I cry when I’m sad (or see others sad), I cry when I laugh, I’m pretty sure I’ve cried when I’ve been angry enough, hell I’ve even cried when something was just too damn cute and I couldn’t handle it sjdklfjkg.
3. I call my cat an asshole, but he’s really not that bad. He loves cuddles, just on his terms and when it’s most inconvenient for me.
4. I met my husband on okcupid of all places. I gave online dating a try because I thought ‘why not’ and one of the things I put in my profile was that I played WoW. I think within the first day I signed up, he sent me a message. We met at the local RenFest the next week, and the rest is history. <3
5. I still can’t find my damn box cutter, and it’s the one tool I need to be able to finish my Mandalorian armor in time for PCC at the end of April. (For the unaware- Mandalorian = Mandalorian Merc = Boba Fett-style costume = Star Wars = yes I am that much of a nerd)
I tag people now yes? o Ao
@k-sunrael, @ramseydawnbridge, @potsandhots, @laceandhalos, @reylain-dawnsorrow, aaaaaand @lysander-dawnspring! And anyone else who wants to, feel more than free~

I'll be at my gallery this weekend at the The The Kansas City Renaissance Festival in person! I'll be working on this new lovely painting live at my easel in front of my shop (store 251) Details & schedule are on my event page, you can access it via the highlighted Instagram Story on my profile up at Instagram (just click on the "KC RenFest" pic at the top of my profile page here at Instagram). --------------------------------------------------- This year we have separately scheduled times for and for "Autographs" (for when I'm sitting down inside and autographing stuff - anything you either buy or bring from home!) and for "Painting" (this will be when I'm outside sitting at my easel and painting!). They want me to have designated times for both, as they are wanting artisans to do a daily "demonstration." Also this will avoid me possibly getting painty fingerprints all over your nice prints, hehe. Details & times are all at that Event Page above. --------------------------------------------------- My shop is number 251 as always, sort of over by the Joust area, a large two story half-timbered building with art all over it! --------------------------------------------------- The KC RenFest is open through October 14 (when it's a date I'm not there in person, my artwork of course still is - my sister Amber & her husband Chris run the shop in my absence). --------------------------------------------------- We have TONS of my artwork, books, pins (including a special KC RenFest Exclusive pin - "Owlyn in Autumn"), oracle/tarot cards, prints, canvases & more. I'm always happy to sign anything, just drop in during the "Autographing" times in the schedule on my event page. --------------------------------------------------- It's a HUGE festival, goes on for almost two months, dozens of musical acts and other performances, countless artists & craftspeople, great shopping, good food (even veggie options - yay!), all in a darling village out in the forest. Rides and activities for the kids, drinky-drinks for grownups ;) Hope to see you there! x Jasmine (at The Kansas City Renaissance Festival) https://www.instagram.com/p/B29bA9hFA-3/?igshid=mut4al59vgps

Big announcement! My next hardcover art book - "Forever Strange" (sequel to "Strangeling", 198 full color gorgeous pages) will be out later this year - available for pre-order WORLDWIDE here: https://www.blueangelonline.com/forever_strange.html (Blue Angel is the publisher, they are located in Australia and ship worldwide, they get them in stock first so they'll have them in June). Nice preview up there of the pages, etc. too. Amazon is accepting pre-orders (they expect October allegedly) - you can pre-order "Forever Strange" from Amazon here: http://amazon.com/shop/strangeling - also is up at BookDepository (October), and all the usual bookshop places. Or just Google : FOREVER STRANGE by Jasmine Becket-Griffith and you'll find a variety of places stocking it. Later this year (probably late summer) we'll have autographed copies at Strangeling.com and will also be planning a "Forever Strange" autograph party at the Pop Gallery here at Disney Springs in Florida too. Once again my sisters Amber Logan & Kachina Mickeletto (and also Matthew David Becket ) have contributed poems & short stories to accompany my hundreds of paintings. If you have my "Strangeling" book, you'll know what I mean - these are super nice coffee-table books with exquisite printing & binding, fancy covers, golden gilded pages, etc. - magnificent gifts as well. We might have them in stock in time for DragonCon - not sure yet - again, I just get the same info you guys do - the publishers are expecting theirs in by June (in Australia, worldwide shipping) and the rest of the world looks like they are saying October (probably more like September, but ya neve rknow), maybe for the KC Renfest too. But in the meantime you can pre-order up at the links above!! XO Jasmine (at Celebration, Florida)

Tonight's the night! Cloudy, but allegedly ZERO% chance of rain (yay!) - I'll be at pOp GaLLery at Disney Springs (right in between the AMC Theatres and the Splitsville). They'll start the pin giveaway (shown here!) at 4:00pm, and I'll get there in person at about 6:00pm staying until 9:00pm. It's my MERMAIDS show, so we'll have tons of my new Mermaids Coloring Book, a total of seven new original Mermaid paintings, tons of mermaid prints & canvases & limited editions, and a load of other artwork and books and jewelry and statues and stuff of mine. Remember - the first 100 customers (customer means you have to buy a Jasmine item or artwork, it can be anything, big or small) get a FREE exclusive Dumbo Octopus Mermaid pin =) I'll be happy to autograph anything you buy at the gallery OR bring from home (OR buy from the Disney WonderGround Gallery in the Marketplace Co-Op just a short walk away). All ages are welcome! Grownups can get champagne ;) If we have any leftover "backup" Dumbo Octopus Mermaid pins (I always make extras just in case), they will be given away randomly to my Patreon Pin Collectors sometime in the next week, they are not for sale and I will not sell them, they are giveaway gifts. If you are busy this weekend, I'll be back at Disney Springs next Saturday as well - the 16th - but over at the Marketplace Co-Op's NEW bigger WonderGround Gallery location. Or come see me twice, lol ;P I'll be adding a TON of new events shortly to my Events page - (on Facebook and also on the Events Calendar on my Strangeling website, link in profile) - loads of personal appearances throughout the Epcot International Festival of the Arts, more Disney stuff, a couple of UK/England events, my usual conventions & KC Renfest, etc. and of course my HUGE solo show at the Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles next July (already working hard on those paintings!) - 2018 is gonna a be another busy year for me. XO Jasmine (at Disney Springs)

Putting the finishing touches on "Halloween Dragonling" - the painting I started last weekend at The Kansas City Renaissance Festival. She's an 8x10" original acrylic painting on masonite panel, I'll be selling her myself - we'll probably have her hanging at the KC Renfest this weekend, actually! Or if you can't come in person you can email me and I can ship her worldwide. Framed she'll be $2400, unframed (if you want to pick your own frame yourself later) she'll be $2200. If anybody is interested in the original painting email me at [email protected] with the subject line "Halloween Dragonling"- I'll be taking down names of collectors in the order in which the email requests are received. We'll have prints, etc. too up at Strangeling.com shortly - and assuming I get her finished this week we'll have prints up at the Kansas City Renaissance Festival next weekend too, along with the original if she is still available! (I'll be there again in person to autograph stuff, etc. and do more painting). If I finish her, then this coming weekend I'll be starting on "Unseelie Court: Gluttony" from my Seven Deadly Sins series........;) Stay tuned, I'll be sure to post more progress pics as I work on her (and when I finally get started on Gluttony!). @kcrenfest (at The Kansas City Renaissance Festival)

More progress on "Halloween Dragonling" - the painting I started last weekend at The Kansas City Renaissance Festival. Thank you for those who came to watch me - I'll be there again this coming weekend too! Usually I try to paint in the mornings there, and sometimes during the afternoon lull (if there is one, and if weather permits) outside on my travel easel. Much further along now, I'm working on the highlights in her eyes - reflecting blue from the full moon, and fiery orange from the Jack-o-Lantern!
