not really the jealous type

but sometimes it gets under his skin if the person touches you or say something promiscuous behind your back

if the person is hurt he'll passionately aggressively take care of them

like pulling the thread hard and poke them a bit aggressively with the needle if he's sewing up a wound

or aggressively twist and turn them with the excuse of "i'm just looking for bruises and wounds"

Stanley Mellish:

tbh, he gets jealous pretty fast

especially if he doesn't know that person

he's the king of insults so that's his tactic to fet them as far away from you and himself

he gets jealous like maybe two times half a year

blows smoke in the persons face and just says "leave" while staring at them until they eventually they do

and they do that pretty quickly

Saving Private Ryan - The Guardian Angel

What if the one who prayed to God was the only one God couldn’t save?

My second story after falling on the 'Barry Pepper is amazing' express. I love this movie, but my brain being my brain couldn't help but get stuck on the 'what if Caparzo survived, and how would that change things' tangent, so this happened. Once again, I'm probably shouting into the ether with this story as it's such a small fandom (if it can be classed as one at all), but I can now sit here happy that I got it written, and the idea can leave me alone so I can focus on my other works.

One major change (aside from the obvious) is Jackson's first name. There was an interview that Barry P, Giovanni R, and Vin Diesel did when the movie first came out, and Barry said his character's name was Roy Jackson. I'm not sure why his character was called Daniel in the book, whether this was an oversight on the writers part or for a greater purpose (I've yet to read it, but after much hunting around for it, I'm waiting on my copy to arrive so I can!), but I've opted to go with Barry's choice of his character's first name. Plus, when I hear Daniel Jackson I immediately think of Dr Daniel Jackson from Stargate, so in the interest of saving my sanity, it's Private Roy Jackson for this.

Chapter 1 - An Angel On His Shoulder

As the sniper of their group – and one of the best in the Rangers, according to his instructor back at basic training – Roy took great pride in being able to assess his surroundings quickly. It was an important skill to have because it meant he could spot targets, find advantage areas, and identify potential ambush sites faster than anyone else around him.

But such a skill meant he had a responsibility to use it every second of every day to ensure his brothers made it home.

Neuville, when they arrived, was both a playground and battlefield to a sniper. The rain was pelting down around them, softening the packed earth and turning it into mud pools. Amongst the bombed ruins and discarded detritus of the former inhabitants, it had numerous sniper hides ripe for the picking – which meant if he knew it, the Germans did too. His head had been on a swivel before they’d set foot within the walls, guiding Miller with a few hand signals to the safest paths into the town without exposing themselves to anyone watching from an elevated position.

Even with the paratroopers guiding them towards the other half of the village, watching out for his team was his job, yet it was one he failed on – distracted as he was by Caparzo grabbing the little girl, imploring the captain to take the family to safety. He’d been distracted, and it was why he was left momentarily stunned when Caparzo was shot from behind.

“Sniper!” Miller yelled. “Cover!”

Roy watched, horrified, as Caparzo caught himself on the piano next to him, counting in his head the number of seconds that passed before the crack of the gunshot was heard. Caparzo managed to keep his feet under him for a second or so before he stumbled and hit the ground hard. The piano, despite the damage it had sustained echoed an eerie tune as the keys were knocked – the French father calling to his daughter, and the little girl’s cries adding to the overall creepiness in the otherwise quiet streets.

The report of the gun ripped through the air halfway to five. Four hundred and fifty yards away. He clenched his jaw, impressed. The sniper was good.

He needed to be better.

«Look!» Jackson exclaimed looking up at the sky

I pulled away from the embrace to see better, but I didn't understand what it meant.

«Thing?» I asked looking.

«You can see Venus» he replied, pointing to a more reddish star.

«Where is it?» I asked not understanding.

«It's the planet of love, they say» he said, continuing to look at her with eyes full of wonder.

«Force. Come on» He took me by the waist and leaned me on the ledge of the bell tower, always taking care to keep me tight so as not to let me fall.

«That's it» he continued, pointing to the planet, and I finally saw it.

A small reddish dot in the midst of other dozens of billions of other glittering dots, which at that moment gave a breathtaking sight.

«How beautiful» I said, continuing to look at her.

Daniel turned his gaze back to me, while I was intent on admiring that spectacle.

«You know ...» he started again.

«In my opinion there are only two beautiful things in this war» his gaze wandered between me and the stars.

«For real?» I asked curious.

«And which?»

«The first: they are the spectacle that the stars give in the night» he said, pointing at the dotted sky.

«And ... the second ...»

I turned back to him, finding him admiring the sky.

«The second...?» I asked even more curious waiting for him to continue the sentence.

«Take a guess» he said in a fine voice as he sat down behind the railing, still holding on to my waist to keep me from falling.

I turned my whole body towards him, putting my legs back inside the bell tower.

Daniel tilted his head back slightly so that his gaze could meet mine.

His smile began to slowly fade as his face moved closer to mine.

I began to hear his heart beating fast in the distance ...

It was a magical sound.

Now I also felt my heart pounding ...

I could hear them beating together and in harmony, like music when it finds the singer's voice.

I closed my eyes, letting myself be carried away by my heart.

And in fact, when our lips met, I felt the love that books and songs had always talked about.

He was right in front of me.

In front of me as he ran his hand from my waist to my back.

And now that I think about it ... Daniel had to tilt his head all the way back so his lips could touch mine, but it didn't seem to bother them.

He pulled me from the waist to bring me back into the bell tower, I encircled his neck with my arms to follow him in his movement, and without detaching us from each other, Daniel lay down on the ground to allow me to stand on top of him.

«Here you are! I told you!» exclaimed the sergeant, high-fiving Mellish, while Reiben continued to stare at the steeple with a look of distaste flattened on his face.

While our lips played with each other, not even our hands could stay still, so Daniel stroked me continuously, running his index finger on my spine under the shirt, giving me a thrill of pleasure.

While I stroked his cheeks, ending up with my hands in his blond hair.

Then Daniel came to caress the bare right arm, I had an old scar from an accident that took place with my brothers and a bit of fire. That feeling reminded me of my brothers.

I broke away from that precious moment, and went back to look at Daniel under me with a sad look.

Apparently he immediately understood my state of mind, and he said:

«I know you miss them ...» he continued to stroke my scar, then he looked at me and stroked my cheek with the other, placing a lock of hair behind my ear.

He was right ... I really missed them ... But as I tried, I couldn't see their faces in my mind.

They had become just faceless people wandering through my memories.

Daniel looked up at the sky, returning to admire the stars.

«You know ...» he said.

«I like to think that every star we see is a loved one, watching over us. And may the wind be a caress of him» he looked back at me.

I smiled at him and gave him a kiss to the mold, which left his lips with a snap.

Daniel moved his gaze again to the arm where I kept the scar still visible, stroked and kissed it.

His lips touched the burnt layer of the scar just like a caress, a caress that went beyond his skin, and reached his heart.

As he ran my lips from the scar to his entire arm, I rested my head on his neck.

Then, as if he had given me a nod, he stopped kissing the scar, and he brought my hand to his lips, kissing it softly.

I returned with a smile, and after which with the same softness of him I gave him a small and soft kiss at the end of the mask, under the ear hole.

I felt him shiver, so he encouraged me to continue moving gently towards my chest, finishing with one last kiss on the collarbone, before resting his head on his chest.

John Miller: Finds it a bit ridiculous, doesn't really get why you would be get jealous when you know that you're the only one he'll ever truly love. But understands in some way, jealousy is a humanly emotions and it's okay to feel it.

Mike Horvath: laughs about it, he can't take you serious if you get jealous about that but he finds it cute. Kisses you in front of the person to make a statement that he's gladly taken.

Daniel Jackson: He finds it amusing that his person can get so territorial over him. Kisses you on the cheek and says "sorry, i'm taken" to show the other person that.. well, he is taken and then you two walk away. definitely teases you a bit after.

Richard Reiben: thinks "aww cute" and smirks to himself. Shrugs the person that touches him of and pulls you in his lap to make out with you (yes in front of the person lol) to ease your jealousy and show literally everyone that he is your, and your only.

Irwin Wade: he gets upset that you're upset. He pouts his lip in your direction when he sees you looking at him bitterly. Tries as nicely as he can to get away from the person to go to you.

Stanley Mellish: Same as Jackson, finds it extremely amusing. Probably would try to get you more jealous to see what you would do. Of course he wouldn't go over board it and if you bring up that you actually hates when he does that, he won't ever do it again.

Timothy Upham: Gets lowkey scared, hates to see you and others upset but he has to priorities your emotions. So, he slips away from the persons touch and half runs to you apologizing even though it's not really his fault.

Adrian Caparzo: tells the person right away that he's taken and that his partner (you, obviously) doesn't appreciate someone touching what's theirs. He teases you about it but he also tells you that he finds your jealousy kinda sexy.

Never Forgive Myself

The night was beautiful. The stars were sprinkled throughout the sky with light so mesmerizing I lost myself in it. It remained me of back home of how my mom and I used to go camping every weekend and try to one up each other with ghosts stories. I was so lost in the beauty I forgot that the men were there.

“Hey, Earth to Wade. You’re next,” Jackson said.

“What? Next for what?” I looked around for somebody to give me a clue.

“Next for telling a story about the worst day of your life.” Reiben chuckled.

“Oh yeah, right,” I dreaded to be up next. I was so ashamed of myself for that day, but nothing could be worse than war.

“Hey, Wade, come on,” ushered Mellish.

“Ok,ok” I took a moment to debate if I should really tell this story. However, the show must go on.

“This day was the worst day in my entire life. I was never the most popular kid at school. I wasn’t on the football team or in any sport for a matter fact. I was the head of the marching band. However, some kids like kids do make fun of things like that. Well,ok, particularly this one kid Bobby Smith. He was that typical jerk. Head of the football team and all of that bullshit. This particular day he was not in a good mood, and I had to be the one to bump into him at that exact moment after his girlfriend broke up with him. He turned to me and gave me the beating of my life…” I paused. Too guilty to say the next part.

“And?” They all said in unison, “are you going to tell us what happened next?”

“Just give me a minute,” I huffed,” Ok…ok… that day I got home. Luckily my ma wasn’t home yet. She tended to work long hours after my dad leaving us. So I got some cold peas from the freezer. But I couldn’t help myself but be mad. I wasn’t mad at Bobby but mad at my own mother.” I started to tear up. “Mad that she wasn’t there to comfort me. I know it sounds silly now. But this is the part I can never forgive myself for. When she got home, it was about 9 at night, I pretended to sleep. She just wanted to know about my day, but I pretended she wasn’t there. Wishing that she would just leave me alone.” 

The men all sat there is silence.

“Well guys, you now know the worst day of my life.” I gave a weak smile.

Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan turns 25!

Back in the late 90s, everyone was finally realizing that they could have an incredible home entertainment set-up with surround sound. A similar moment happened with my own family. My Dad showed off this new advancement in audio technology with the D-Day Omaha beach landing sequence in Saving Private Ryan. The sounds of bullets and explosions flying all around me left me traumatized. That sequence can’t possibly compare to what it's like actually being there. It's an immersive, combat-filled scene with a realistic style that is probably still concerning viewers about joining the army. D-Day took place on June 6th, 1944. This was a historic moment that saw Allied forces going head-first into Nazi-occupied France. As troops landed on Omaha beach they were greeted by relentless gunfire from hidden German forces. Many Allied forces perished before they even stepped foot on that beach.
