New Zealand South Island Adventure day 10 : Takaka -> Pohara -> Collingwood -> Puponga -> Motueka -> Nelson - It had been another big day to explore golden bay. Started with a detour to Pohara Beach and then headed northwest to visit Collingwood where I captured a retiree playing accordion at the recreation area of the waterfront. The long haul including 5KM unsealed road to Wharariki Beach rewarded the most famous view for the day - Windows 10 Lock Screen. Do you recognise it? Cape Farewell next to it also looks fabulous. On the way returning to Takaka, stopped at Te Waikoroupupu Springs for rest with a casual walk. Drove through the long winding Takaka Hill way again before its closure at 8PM and stopped at Motueka for dinner. Wharariki Beach is spectacular in that wild, west coast New Zealand way. The approach is through grassed-over sandhills that built up over thousands of years aided and abetted by the lower sea levels of the last ice age that exposed huge swaths of brilliant white sands. The prevailing westerlies bend the manuka scrub into fantastic shapes.

El color del agua en Pupu Spring puede cambiar de azul-violeta (agua más pura y menos contaminada) a un color más verde. Además, vista de lobos marinos bebes y puesta de sol (#Sunset) en Wharariki Beach. Tag 15 Golden Bay (49 km, 285hm)

Heute war Ausschlafen und der Start direkt vom Motel um 9:00 Uhr angesagt👍 Geplant war unsere Radtour von Takaka nach Puponga immer entlang der schönen Strände der Golden Bay:

Soweit der Plan🤪. Bei angenehmen 18-20° und Sonne-Wolken-Mix ging es los. Schon nach wenigen Kilometern hatten wir dann 100 % Luftfeuchtigkeit und es sollte bis nach Puponga nicht besser werden. Zwischendurch haben wir kurz überlegt, die Regensachen überzuziehen, aber eigentlich waren wir schon relativ nass 🤔😜. Auch den regelmäßigen Angeboten unseres Begleitbusses, doch das Fahrzeug zu wechseln, haben wir tapfer widerstanden 💪🏻. Auf den letzten 5 km meinten Regen und Wind es so richtig gut mit uns und gaben alles 😅, mit dem Ergebnis, dass wir bis auf die Haut durchgeweicht waren und es keine trockene Stelle mehr an uns gab. Gut, dass wir Handtücher und Badesachen dabei hatten, so konnten wir uns trocken rubbeln und die noch trockene Regenbekleidung überziehen, den Sprung in die Fluten hatten wir nun gleich mit erledigt, wenn auch anders als geplant.😅Auch wenn wir uns mit leckerer heißer Schokolade, Tee oder Kaffee aufgewärmt haben, keiner hatte so richtig Lust, mit den nassen quietschenden Fahrradschuhen eine Strandwanderung im Regen zu machen, also ging es ab nach Hause unter die warme Dusche. Und wie konnte es anders sein, kaum waren wir zu Hause, kam die Sonne raus☀️Jetzt hatten wir ja ein bisschen gewonnene Zeit und sind durch Takaka spaziert, ein kleines Künstler-Städtchen mit vielen alten Häusern, Kneipen und interessanten Läden. Abends haben wir noch zusammen gegrillt und sind jetzt schon auf morgen gespannt – geplant ist eine Wanderung auf dem Abel Tasman Coast Track, Wettervorhersage 90-100 % Regen, na mal sehen, wie viele sich überzeugen lassen😜😅
