Been thinking a lot about how OOT Link canonically had a kid... this came to mind. The masks are most likely normal masks at this point, but I still think he'd freak out.
This is Navi by the way, she's named after Link's most beloved and invaluable friend... She was going to say that she's been researching forest stuff.

last art this year
was supposed to be for pride month but— ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── 𝓉𝑜 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒷𝑒𝓉𝓉𝑒𝓇 𝒻𝓊𝓉𝓊𝓇𝑒.
some lore surrounding these two that is too long overdue but 🤷‍♂️
not as detailed and rambly as i’d like it to be, but i’m really burned out and i’m trying to get back to it🧍‍♂️
nevermind it’s pretty rambly lol
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
all the way back in 2038 Vincent and Ray, after dating for around two years, agreed to leave California together on august 21st — Ragan’s birthday; it was supposed to be his birthday gift of sorts, a start of a new chapter, new life;
buuut Vince, being a little shit teenager, got cold feet (in Ray’s eyes, Vince always justified that as being rational) and ditched him last minute, not showing up in their agreed spot, making Ragan leave on his own after hours of waiting.
this caused Ray to despite his own birthdate, it always reminding him of the heartbreak and betrayal. 🧍‍♂️
Vincent has felt guilty ever since, but firmly believed it was the right choice. he was never fit to live a nomadic lifestyle at such a young age.
four decades later their paths cross again and a long healing journey ensues.
so now this date is pretty bittersweet to both of them 🧍‍♂️ but it gets better overtime
basically right person, wrong time
although i think if they did ran away together then, it wouldn’t have ended good at all 🤷‍♂️ with Vince still being pretty immature emotionally, still struggling with some inner personal things (family stuff, internalized homophobia, etc.) and not familiar with the nomadic culture and ways of living. they’d probably get in bad fights more and more as the time would go on, and eventually split. Vince would’ve decided to go back to Night City probably (if he ever would make it back) and they’d never end up back together has they met in the future.
their separation allowed them to grow and mature on their own, in their own familiar environments, experience different things, and after they met again, after all those years, they put their feelings and mutual attraction to the test
and it turned out they still want each other even with all the imperfections 🧍‍♂️(i’m not crying you are) they could lie all they want but their brain chemistry couldn’t. Vincent never loved someone they way he loved Ragan, and Ray never quite felt the same way with anyone else like he felt with Vince. there was always something missing, something not quite right. and while they could tell each other they’re looking for something too far out of their reach, that they’re looking for a too perfect partner, in reality they always just wanted each other 🧍‍♂️
they still have a lot to work on together in their relationship, but now that they’re too old for teenage fights and too tired for heartbreaks, they make compromises and their fights make their bond and their understanding of one another stronger 🧍‍♂️🧍‍♂️
like we acknowledge that Vince did a shitty thing by ghosting Ray, going no contact and being a puss, too scared to man up, and tell him face to face ‘hey i can’t go, this type of thing ain’t for me’. he didn’t want to acknowledge that, saying that out loud, or even in his mind, would make that real and that scared him. he was definitely a teen who’d rather avoid doing something he wasn’t comfortable with to not experience the uncomfortable feelings altogether. the avoidant type we all know and love 🧍‍♂️
and yet Ray still chose to love him 🧍‍♂️ he’s definitely like ‘this man’s trash but he’s *my* trash’. Vince gets better eventually after Ray finally gets through his thick ass skull.
but also i’m not gonna sit here and say Ragan fixed Vince coz that wasn’t the case 🤷‍♂️ this is not a ‘i’m gonna fix him’ type of situation. Ragan wasn’t and isn’t perfect either, his perspective was kinda askew as well; can’t quite describe it as i haven’t psychoanalyzed him as much as Vincent but they’re both flawed, make mistakes left and right and learn from that (sooner or later) like human beings 🧍‍♂️
but in the end they’re just old men in love

Work from Nathan Beard’s “LIFE LINES”
Nathan Beard’s description of his recent personal and intriguing project (pictured above)-
The Memory Map works on view here are my very newest attempt at understanding the role that fallible memory plays in the shaping of culture and self. These small watercolor studies are Phase II of LIFE LINES, a grand 3-part project in which I am examining my family’s memory of themselves and making artwork that tells their story. I plan to collect all of these studies into a singular book that can be handed down through the generations, or perhaps even preserved in a museum for everyone to see.
To create Memory Maps, I have created a survey for each family member. I ask them some general genealogy questions, since this survey will also function as a historical record, including their three favorite colors. I then ask them to try to remember each year of their life, from birth til now, and assign a rank between 0 and 5 for a) how clear their memory of the year is; b) how important that year was for them; c) how “good” or “bad” the year was. I add these columns together to get an “Accumulative” data set that I use to create a skeleton composed of alternating pentagons and hexagons that rotate as they expand. This part is important since it incorporates movement through time and space as we grow outward. Using the fact that our life’s journey always wavers, I then connect the points and end up with a “map” that resembles the cross-section of a tree, and contains all the metaphors associated with tree rings and natural growth cycles.
The most important visual development presented itself with Cate Clark, where I allowed myself the freedom to incorporate representational imagery. I asked my wife about her favorite place ever, and she surprised me with the family trip we took to Letchworth State Park in upstate NY. I found a picture from that trip with our daughter Vera standing at the edge of wood, and proceeded to paint that memory in resemblance of an antique plate. I also allowed myself the freedom to stray away from the tree ring aspect, while still using the data skeleton to place the bursts of color.

The New 20th Century Limited, 1939. Leslie Ragan (1897-1972).
In the 1930s, technology began to reflect the sleek, aerodynamic lines of the Art Deco movement, and the New 20th Century Limited, designed by Henry Dreyfuss, was the pride of the New York Central Line. This image has been featured by the United States Postal Service on a series of stamps commemorating the 1930s.

Mary was passionate about education throughout her life. After graduating from Pickford High School in 1947, she began her higher education studies at Bob Jones University, where she met and fell in love with fellow educator Sandy Howell. They were married in Pickford on June 9, 1951. She continued her education at Western Michigan University, earning a bachelor's degree in science. She continued studies at Ferris State University, Northern Michigan University, and Michigan State University. Mary began teaching at Parkerville School, a one room schoolhouse in Bruce Township, Michigan, and retired as Principal of Pickford Elementary School after an illustrious 41 year career.
After they both lost their first spouses, Mary and Willis Galer fell in love and eloped to Maui, Hawaii on September 20, 1995. They enjoyed 20 years of traveling and adventure together, often with her best friend Dorthea and her husband Ragan Callaway and Bill and Norma Raynard.
Mary's faith was an integral part of her life. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Pickford. She was a member of the Pickford Grange and served in several positions including officer, flora, and chaplain. Mary was awarded the Woman of the Year award in 1983 by the Business and Professional Women organization. She was also a member of the Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principal's Association.
Mary was an animal lover and had seven beloved Boston Terrier companions throughout her life.
Mary is survived by her nephew, Charles (Jenni) Bawks of White Oak, Texas; niece, Aleta (Dan) Phelps of Euless, Texas; great nephews, Russell (Kristen) Bawks, Stephen (Jennifer) Phelps, Michael (Manuela) Phelps, and Timothy Phelps; and 6 great-great nieces and nephews; stepdaughter, Linda (David) Thompson of Pickford; stepson, Rod (Patsy) Galer of Pickford; grandchildren, Candace (Larry) Warner, Cheri (Scott) Skinner, Trisha (Zac) Jennings, Micah (Lisa) Galer, Nathan (Tiffany) Galer, and Emily Galer; 16 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
