happy 2024! this has been in my inbox forever but looks super fun to do! here’s my take on what characters would be regressors/caregivers for arcane, dbh and atla. I totally wrote way more than I expected to but here u are! <3 I’ll do a separate post for ofmd and soc bc they have so many characters I have opinions on.

Agere Character Headcanons

(Arcane, D:BH, ATLA)

Arcane

Vi: As much as she’d be a wonderful caregiver, she’s absolutely a regressor. Being small reminds her of days spent with her parents and Powder, family trips to the fish markets of the coast and sunny days building sand castles at the beach. She tends to be on the older side, a natural tendency from a life spent as the older sibling, taking care of Powder. Vi’s a very active and vivacious little, playing outdoors and hanging off Caitlyn’s shoulders. Loves physical touch, hugs and high fives are the way to go.

Caitlyn: Caregiver all the way! I think she loves kids in general, and despite her awkward nature and sheltered upbringing, she finds it easy to take charge and step into the role of a protector. Definitely looks after Vi and is oftentimes too concerned about her safety. She loves taking the little out to the playground and to eat at Jericho’s food stall (even if she still refuses to eat a bowl of slop herself).

Jinx: Tiniest, cutest, moodiest little troublemaker there is. Jinx regresses to about four or five years old, and absolutely bounces off the walls at all hours of the day. She’s not the quiet, sweet child she once was as Powder, but rather gets herself into trouble and feigns innocence. She loves to annoy both Silco and Sevika, clambering on the latter’s lap and hiding under Silco’s desk for games of hide and seek. Her mood changes rather drastically as well, as she can go from completely happy to hyperventilating sobbing from anything as simple as scraping a knee to refusing bedtime.

Jayce: He’s a very attentive and high strung caregiver. Looking after Viktor is much easier than Caitlyn, Silco, or Sevika’s jobs, but Jayce always fusses over the little. He’s quick to scoop him up whenever it’s deemed necessary, and goes to Mel for help when he needs another pair of hands. Jayce loves caregiving because it gives him something to focus on other than his responsibility to Piltover, and enjoys simple play with his little like story time and building blocks.

Viktor: Super small and quiet regressor! Viktor can get very young, and has no qualms with depending on Jayce for help when he’s little. He likes to be snuggled up on a couch in a mound of blankets and is also content to sit and watch Mel paint the ships that go by the balcony of her apartment. Viktor is sweet and shy and doesn’t tend to verbalize his needs, but because Jayce is so attentive they mesh well together.

Detroit: Become Human

Kara: Caregiver. Need I expand? It’s in her coding in the first place to protect and nurture. Upon her deviance, Kara realizes that even if she was made for it, she can still reclaim that part of herself for herself. She is quick to console whomever her little may be, and projects the kindest and warmest energy to the person she’s taking care of. Kara enjoys making up her own stories, and loves playing make believe with her regressor.

Connor: One hundred percent a regressor. This little guy was shy and uncertain when he first started regressing, as he didn’t know what ‘normal’ behaviour from a deviant was, let alone how to process all the new emotions he was feeling. Connor loves to spend time at Hank’s house with Sumo, revelling in the feeling of the dog’s fluffy fur and laughing happily when he teaches Sumo all sorts of tricks. Connor is usually happy when regressed, but struggles with anxiety and asking for help. Hank is always there to walk Connor through his big feelings and encourages him to use his words.

Markus: He’s one of the most chaotic caregivers there is. You picked the pacifist route in the game? Doesn’t matter. This guy is unhinged when it comes to caregiving. Spoiling his little at any time possible, letting them stay up hours past their bedtime, giving them candy for breakfast and encouraging colouring on the walls. He spent so many years being exactly who Carl wanted him to be while also tasting freedom through Carl’s art that it brings him so much joy to see a regressor’s eyes sparkle when he says yes to whatever their heart desires. He’s also amazing at comforting a regressor. Big hugs and gentle eyes!

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Katara: Is a caregiver! Incredibly kind yet less patient than one (Sokka) might hope. Katara is quick to caution her little, always on the lookout for anything that they might hurt themselves with or on. But this doesn’t mean she hates fun! She adores the beach and using her bending to splash around, and is always ready to get her little an extra blanket or any snacks they ask for. She’s super sweet and falls into the role of a caregiver like she was made for it. Katara has even sewed a plushie or two as gifts, and has a knack for settling a regressor in front of a crackling fire and braiding their hair before bedtime.

Sokka: Regressor for sure. Even though he’s a big brother he never let go of his goofy side, and it plays into so much of his behaviour when he’s regressed. He’s on the older side, around 6-8, and has so much energy he doesn’t know where to put it all. Queue him running around for hours, laughing at absolutely anything that Aang says and bothering Toph just so she’ll play with him. Sokka doesn’t cry, even when he takes a tumble (which is quite often) but is fussy when he doesn’t get his way. He’s a troublemaker, but his beaming smile lets him get away with plenty.

Aang: Honestly I think he’s a caregiver, but is more like a fun uncle than any other label. His sage airbender wisdom doesn’t come through often, which means he’s all about fun all the time. His childish side matches a little like Sokka’s constant energy, and he seems to vanish into a cloud of smoke when any tears come his way. And how did Sokka and Zuko get chocolate all around their mouths, you ask? Well, there’s no one to ask because Aang’s just taken off on his glider on some very important business.

Zuko: LITTLE! REGRESSOR! TINY! Oh my goodness, he’s the first fictional character that I ever headcanoned as a regressor. There’s no need to delve into his trauma here, but the boy is in such a desperate need of healing his childhood that he regressed long before he even knew what it was. Regresses very young, between 2-5. Before meeting the Gaang he’d hang off of Uncle’s shoulder during Pai Sho tournaments on his ship and would shyly ask the crew members to play songs during music nights. His tough demeanour disappears completely when he’s regressed and he turns into a shy boy that is insistent on doing things himself and is quick to cry when he’s unable to, for example, wrap his robes the way he wants. Zuko has a turtleduck plushie that Katara sewed for him after Aang asked him what his favourite animal was and Sokka caught him cuddling up to Appa at night. Sweetest boy in the whole world.

Toph : Caregiver! Matches more with Aang’s style of caregiving than Katara’s, but still lands somewhere in the middle. Her earthbending gives her the ability to pick up on every tiny emotion that a regressor feels, and it means she’s prepared and in tune with every need, happy or unhappy, that someone needs. She tends to playfully tease Zuko and Sokka, but knows exactly where to draw the line with either boy based on the rhythm of their heart. Toph helps Aang when it comes to letting the boys do something Katara has specifically told them they’re not allowed to, and will always feign innocence when confronted by the eldest caregiver.

Howdy! And yesss ;u; hecking love the series!♡♡

- Viktor is babie! He regresses anywhere between 1-5 years old, and he looves boats n' has a lil plushie that looks like Rio (that goes everywhere with him!)

- Jayce is also babie, though he tends to regress to more of a middle space (about 6-11) loves being able to run around and explore! Also very cuddly, he wants hugs or any physical touch every second of the day xD

- Mel is a carer, specifically for Jayce ;w; She loves to do arts n' crafts with her tiny ones! Also loves to read to her tiny ones, could be a book, could just be news articles, she just knows to have a soft voice that comforts♡

- Jinx totally regresses, I think that's like, basically canon xD But she looooves colouring, climbing everything, playing with her plushies and being the cute lil boss of everyone

- Jayce and Viktor definitely have playdates! Jayce is v protective of Viktor, that's his little sib aint no one is going to tease or make fun of him! The two like to do lil science experiments, which are probably just baking soda volcanos n' stuff, but that is just the coolest to them!

- Cait flips! For the most part she is a carer but, she also regresses ;u;

CG! Viktor

Honestly the most gentle cg ever. His preference would be a slightly older regressor, maybe around 8 since he'd be busy really often, and would feel bad if his little one needs him a lot. That isn't to say he's bad around younger regressors, though. He'd just have to get a younger regressor a babysitter.

Is really, really good at making cool stuff for you. He likes making you neat little inventions, most of them are similar to fidgets or are wind up toys. If you have anything specific you want made, just ask him and he'll get to work. He loves making you smile more than anything.

Viktor wishes he could pick you up, and though he isn't the touchy feely type, he makes up for it by often cuddling with you. He'll get you both wrapped in blankets, and if you're stressed/sad, he's good at making you feel relaxed. He likes to softly hum to you and play with your hair.

Honestly, Viktor has the hardest time being firm or strict with you. The only time he really crosses is a line is when he's REALLY busy, especially if it's something strictly Hextech related, or it's dangerous for you to be around. It's physically impossible for this man to raise his voice at you though.

If it's not something dangerous though, he'll usually work on it at home and with you close by, playing with the toys he probably made you. He'll occasionally glance at you and smile, before turning back to his work.

It'll take a while for him to be more on the goofy and lighthearted side, but after a while he becomes a lot less quiet and more affectionate. He's a pro at playing pretend and hosting little tea parties now.

Often likes to color with you. He finds it relaxing, and he knows you enjoy it too. He will put each and every one of your colorings on the fridge door.

Your quirks, antics, and laugh are enough to make his day. He loves seeing the excitement on your face when he finds a book you like, or a game to play. He wants to be a fun caregiver, even if it's a little difficult for him at first since it's hard for him to become fully relaxed.

Has a hard time remembering to eat and hydrate, so either you'll remind him often, or if you have the same issue, he'll think he's being a bad example and will force himself to remember food and water exists for the sake of both of you.

Is the worst at cooking, but he will buy a bunch of books and will even beg Jayce to teach him. Though he will probably not be that great at it, he will learn the basics and your favorites. Probably does make some good smoothies and shakes though.

For the sake of both of you, will make healthy food often. If you complain that it's too gross or icky, he'll use a reward system if you do eat your veggies.

Calls you by your name most the time, but also calls you a variety of Czech terms of endearment, but is really fond of calling you zlatíčko which translates to sweetie.

He has hard times trusting anyone else to take care of or babysit you, but if he's super busy, he leaves you in Jayce or Heimerdinger's care. He apologizes profusely afterwards, even if you like being in the two's care.

Viktor has a soft spot probably for being called both Papa, Dad, or Daddy. I don't think he'd lean towards any, as long as it's coming from you, it makes his heart melt.

Takes you to the aquarium often, or whatever similar to that they have in Piltover. He might get all scientific with the fish or creatures he's familiar with, but in a way that keeps you fascinated and not bored. Makes you hold onto his hand basically the entire time, but that's really any time you both go anywhere, since he has a fear of you getting lost.

Will almost always tuck you in and will let you choose a storybook you want him to read. As long as it's PG, he really doesn't mind whatever you choose. As he reads, he'll do funny voices and speak more softly than usual. Most the time, he'll wrap an arm around you or let you lay your head in his lap.

Viktor would be shy around Renata when he regresses, sucking on his thumb nervously and looking away while nodding his head.

Viktor allows Jayce to carry him, pat his back with his big hands, taking him out on private picnics.

Viktor AND Jayce is a flip.

Viktor is more of a pet regressor while Jayce is an age regressor— Viktor is both but leans toward pet regression, likes bunny and kitty related themed stuff.

When they both regress, they regress to around a toddler age and will stick together like glue. Viktor usually likes his personal space but once little, he will constantly be holding Jayce's hand.

Viktor usually goes nonverbal and bratty.

While Jayce is the goodest of boys out there, talks a LOT, not full sentences but around gibberish and rambles.

Viktor prefers to eat more solid nomnoms and milk, Jayce likes mushy baby food and something that he can eat with his big boy hands.

A simple regression trigger for Viktor is-

"oh what a big stretch!!"

He'll die happily

I have more but I sleepy,,, and can't think,,

Hi honey pie, I love CG Jayce so much!

He would definitely spoil little Viktor so much, buy him anything that he wanted— He would sit in his lab alone late at night, fidgeting around with his large hands, attempting to making lil Viktor something to chew on or play with.

Would totally buy Viktor cow themed stuff or sea life stuff. I also feel like if Viktor was being small in public, he would go nonverbal and Jayce would wheel him around in a wheelchair. Bring him to a park, the library, or Viktors favorite place, the aquarium.

Once they get home and Viktor in his jammies, they end up cuddling up next to each other while Viktor fights the urge to suck his thumb or chew on fingers, while Jayce reads him a big boy book.

Viktor refused to admit he's a little so he is constantly being a little brat.

But Papa Jayce knows that a little bit of warm sweet milk and a few head scratches, Viktor is going to regress.

a/c: of course firelight! i love them a lot too; jayce as viktor’s caregiver is so sweet, this baby boy desperately needs to rest and know he's so so loved (-｡-)｡｡｡zzZ (this basically turned into a bulleted fic but i hope you enjoy nonetheless, just very long headcanons!)

slight cw and spoiler for the series: mention of nightmares and detailed descriptions of rio when she was experimented on!

dynamic: cg! jayce x regressor! viktor

jayce had already been very familiar with what it was like for viktor to constantly push himself over the edge, especially when it came to his work

it would start with small gestures: viktor would wake up in his lab with a soft blanket draped over his back, or swear that he could feel a firm hand running gently over his scruffy hair.

there was a small, warm feeling of knowing that there was someone looking out for him but would shrug it off in pursuit of his research

jayce, on the other hand, had always been too upfront about his feelings; he couldn't identify the word for it. he knew that taking care of viktor was something that always weighed on his mind. he thought of viktor's well-being, his shared goals and motivations, just him.

it would take for viktor to truly break in front of jayce for him to realize just how deeply his companion has neglected himself, and that it were necessary to intervene

viktor shot out of bed, his heart racing against the heaviness of his breath. it was another nightmare, the mutation screeching for him to save her. wires and tubes sucking out her very life force, as he could only watch in horror. "the mutation must survive." the scene's perspective were too large for it to be the height he were at now. no, it were a memory of the past.

the scientist grabbed his chest, gasping for air. his eyes were still adjusting to the world around him, yet nothing made sense. there was a subconscious frustration to his fear, he hadn't made any progress with the hexcore, and he was running out of time.

his small frame shook inside the empty room from the overwhelming feelings. frustration welled in his throat, choking back the tears the best that they could.

when his eyes followed up to the picture of rio that he drew during his youth, he crumbled under the surface.

jayce was already on his way to do his nightly check-up, hearing soft sniffles from inside the tall lacquered door, he nearly tore it off its hinges.

he could hear... babbling? unintelligible sobs as the frail frame of the man before him rose and fell with each wave of emotion.

he let viktor feel everything that he needed to, asking consent to touch his shoulder and bending down to eye level.

it would take a while before the heavy breath steadied and the world around him came into view

jayce gave him all the time he needed, waiting for a moment of silence to ask him what troubled him so deeply.

viktor would only explain in the briefest of details; jayce had his own problems, he was a councilor, after all, and it was silly to concern him with things that have long since been.

instead of falling into the habit of prying for answers, jayce tugged viktor into an embrace

viktor felt the compacted frame of jayce's body against his own. it was comforting and strong. jayce could hold the whole weight of his problems in his arms, and he fell into the touch.

for the rest of the night viktor was not to move a muscle, jayce fluffed his pillows, made him a warm drink, and propped himself into a chair.

the councilor's hands glided over the pages of his journal, speaking over each event of the day; he discussed the meetings, the piltover citizens he met, and the orders to the enforcers that he gave.

viktor propped himself upright into his bed, tilting the ceramic mug and swirled it in his palms to combine its contents, he couldn't help but look into its murky reflection. this time, seeing himself, he couldn't help but notice the difference in feeling. there was no disgust, there was no frustration. it was just indifferent to him.

there were no thoughts plaguing him, his mind too foggy to differentiate, it was only recognition to the feeling that he was tired. it was time to sleep.

the younger of the two was satisfied to witness the success in his methods to calm his companion, a sigh of relief to see the delicate hand slowly release his lock on the mug. jayce would slowly pull the nightcap away and help viktor into the embrace of his pillows, smirking at the peaceful expression that remained.

at first, upon exiting the room, he contemplated the events of the night. the incoherent noises muttered, and the relaxed state that viktor was in was unlike anything that he had seen before. it was almost child-like in nature, and the way he was completely accepting of jayce's care brought his own warm feeling into his chest.

being able to spoil viktor like he did helped jayce to keep his mind off of the endless responsibilities that clouded his mind. jayce believed that it was beneficial for the two of them to continue a similar nightly routine. for now, he would not be the trigger for another abrupt awakening, they would just have to discuss it in the morning.
