Picture it:

Some years after graduation in their mid twenties, Chazz and Atticus get engaged.

Chazz, as much as he's thought about it, is far too awkward with feelings and emotions even still to manage a proposal. Or rather, Chazz tries to propose, but after shuddering and bumbling through dinner like a fool, Atticus laughs and takes over, reciting precisely what Chazz was going to say back to him and answering him happily that he will absolutely marry him! No questions asked!

Everyone is overjoyed for them, it's a whole thing! Alexis gives Chazz her blessing to marry her brother but totally gives him the "if you hurt my big brother, I will hunt you down. And kick your ass." talk, but she's happier fort them than anyone, after all, she's already thought of Chazz as her second brother for a long time and now it's going to he a reality!

They have a moderately sized wedding, not overwhelmingly large, but not exactly small either. All of their friends plus the entire Rhodes family are in attendance. The Princetons aren't as, well, cool as the Rhodes' plus neither Chazz nor Atticus wanted his abusers there, so they weren’t invited.

The ceremony is beautiful, so moving, many tears from the gallery and the wedding party, including the officiant, Crowler who got ordained online specifically for them

The reception is very classy of course! A beautiful ballroom overlooking the sea. Food and champagne, everybody's having a marvelous and merry time! There's toasts, speeches, and the couple shares their first dance. But sometime later in the night, they sneak off to an outside rooftop terrace kinda space just off the main ballroom to share a private moment with a few words and two glasses of champagne.

As they sip their drinks and marvel at the sight of the moon and stars reflecting on the sea, they hear music from inside, one of Atticus's favorite songs. And under the moonlight, they dance to Beyond The Sea.

so some pre and post wedding facts i did not discuss last night

mike takes peter’s last name so legally he’s michael thorkelson BUT he still goes by mike nesmith for music stuff and people still call him nez

the baby they adopt in the 90s i have yet to decide if it’s a boy or a girl but if it’s a boy mike insists they name him orville (after red rhodes) and if it’s a girl they name her millie

mike still has his pointers but also now that he’s an official old queen he gets a yorkie or some other yappy terrier and names her muffin

also the baby is literally a secret until they come out and everyone’s like “hey who’s this teen who’s showing up to monkees events with them” and they’re like well that’s our child

mike attempts to become a vegetarian and fails like 2 days in due to his love of popeyes

Never understood fandom rarepairing. Like cool for them I guess but it never clicked for me.

Well now I've spent a few days rotating Lappland x Cantabile in my head and I think I get it now. These two people should not interact. All of the healing would be undone, hundreds would die, Bolívar would be placed under martial law. To call it toxic yuri would be an understatement.

After writing this out I realize this is probably gonna be upsetting if you don't want to read a fic outline of a disastrous breakup between these two. Be advised.

Lappy obsesses over Texas for representing the hypothetical self that boldly abandoned the burden of her past long ago. But Cantabile would invert that unhealthy self-reflection. Every flinch would pull at dusty strings in Lappland's brain that she desperately wishes to tear out, as Cantabile's withdrawn behavior instead represents the hypothetical Lappland who never properly defied her home environment. Lapp's fixation on Texas is wanting to keep up with her, but this kind of fixation would be about wanting to make Cantabile keep up with herself.

Cantabile would be scared by her, but would see someone who escaped similar circumstances more chaotically and needs help she can't express. She would try to get Lappland to appreciate the smaller moments, to enjoy music and the slow moments of sitting in a garden. Their kissing would be a mess as Cantabile tries to tame Lappland while Lappland tries to set off the repressed violent spark in Cantabile. A true opposition of "I can fix her" versus "I can fix her by making her worse."

The relationship would be unstable, and eventually Lappland would on a date or field op try to trick Cantabile into the same room as one of the confidants of the arms dealer that abused and abandoned her. Peaceful endings would be possible, but Lappland needs her to hate and pushes the tense conversation in that direction. The first kill to be driven by her buried resentment sets something loose, a need to keep the momentum, and eventually her familiarity with Bolívar would let her outpace Lappland briefly as she took out the core leadership. The confusion and power vacuum would spark a war in the criminal underworld.

Lappland would be ecstatic about the results until she found Cantabile in the carnage. How do you stop fighting in that circumstance, when between the adrenaline and oripathy flare-up you can only remember meekness and complacency as surrendering to your abuser? Cantabile would accuse Lappland of trying to use her as a tool, misunderstanding the original intent. They would argue. They would fight. They would both fall.

The Rhodes Island team that recovers them might be able to save them, but both would be in critical condition. Officially though they die in the incident. If either survives it has to be in a way that deflects RI's accountability for them. They get paired off with different operators with more ties outside RI than inside, people picked by Kal'tsit and the Doctor to keep them in check, and they're sent to opposite ends of Terra.

Lappland comes out the clear loser, the failure making it harder to repress her deep self-esteem problems. She gets nightmares about failing Texas in the same way, and the thought of her causes anxiety attacks. Cantabile oscillates between withdrawn behavior and violent outbursts, having to retrace her original path of therapy while traveling.

Mary Ann Zynsky, better known as Toots Zynsky, (born 1951) is an American glass artist.

A native of Boston, Zynsky was known as “Toots” almost from the time she was born. She studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, receiving her BFA before traveling to Seattle to work at the Pilchuck Glass School under Dale Chihuly; she has continued to return there as an instructor. She spent six months in the 1980s in Ghana researching the local music.

• Most of her music taste contains early 2000's breakup /romance songs

• she's a bit of an alcoholic (it's her Irish side) while her partner Sigrid is a chronic smoker, they've tried getting eachother to quit but it's backfired badly.

• She's got street smarts since she's from Saint Denis

• She's got a stash of gold and jewels hidden somewhere throughout the states that she deems "the foxes den" that is rumored to hold quite alot of cash,but she won't confirm or deny rumors

• Dutch has tried getting her to tell him where said money pile is but she's pretty good at keeping secrets.

• Aura loves hanging out with Sean and Molly at camp,other people at camp may be annoyed by Sean but Aura sees him as a big brother so when the events of Rhodes happen she's devastated when she's told about it.

Started listening to michael nesmith today i forgot how beautiful music is genuinely like him writing such beautiful songs and red rhodes coloring them so beautifully. I was so so so so obsessed w/ his music its crazy like its smthn rly hard not to get obsessed w/ cause it feels like such a hidden gem artist despite his fame as a monkee. Theres such a sadness to his music and attitude like if u listen to the 1974 live at the roundhouse talking inbetween songs its srsly insane. Like he uses a vocabulary that makes it sound like hes trying to sound smart (the same type of vocabular in his lyrics) but like w/ his music there rly being something real and genuinely melancholic and beautiful there. That 1974 roundhouse is the only CDr bootleg i have i hope i can find a non cdr cd of it cause i kno it got released officially albeit as part of a bigger box set but like im so mesmerized ny that concert that i love having it. Anyways listened to loose salute today and am listening to and the hits keep on comin rn b4 going to bed

a review of the first week of cabo verde

so i've officially landed in the praia, cabo verde, airport seven (7) whole days ago, and i want to share my initial thoughts. this will be long, so here's a numbered list :)

1 . i feel like i'm a kid back in brazil but also a 21 y/o tall kid

so caboverdians speak portuguese (bc it's taught in formal schools) and they also speak kabuverdianu (creole, different across all the islands). being someone that can translate / speak at the store for the person they live with [1], it just feels like i'm a kid with a limited vocab

living in a beach town where everything is at a slower pace and is within walking / bus / taxi distance made me feel happy :) vacation!dasha is alive and well

2 . cabo verde is also a tall kid (but 48 y/o)

this one is sorta very much on me.

so i did the classic American Tourist thing and never actually learned anything about the history of the country i will be traveling to (sorry). since coming here and asking my co-workers and friends-of-misti about the general vibes of this country, i've learned so much! a lot of which Make Sense, a lot of which Confuse Me

older caboverdians tend to see themselves as not-african. i also learned that some ppl in some countries in mainland africa also don't consider themselves african bc of the way that the label "africa" comes with various histories, most of them negative bc of europe. this is why "kriolu" / "creole" are such popular words ! also younger caboverdians acknowledge that they are african / black if that applies to them

race is phenotypical here. which is what i expected (closer to how latam sees race ig?? more like how brasil sees race ig??). what i'm trying to say is that if you introduce yourself as "from the usa", they'll always say "no, where are u Actually from" and won't rest until u say something like "peruvian, chinese, etc." bc a lot of ppl outside of the usa don't believe that the usa has "actual indigenous ppl anymore" [2]. it also means that speaking english in the street invites ppl to ask you ur race

being east asian (chinese) in cabo verde is sorta .. rough. the microaggressions that i've seen in the two (2) days that my chinese-american roommate face is kinda Wild. when the person leading our cultural training said "oh sometimes ppl will call u 'china'" to my friend i thought that it meant that it would replace "ma'am" in the usual "yes, ma'am" / "no, ma'am" conversations with strangers, not that random ppl will yell "china!" multiple times to my friend when we're sitting on the sand. this has ties with macau and the rest of the chinese gov't building universities, casinos, and having a Business Presence in the country. but at least we got tourism industry students to invite us to clubs bc my friend is chinese-american??? [3] it's just really weird to me bc i haven't faced any racial / appearance-based ... acknowledgements ... even tho i clearly look like a foreigner in a sorta-racially-homogenous place (talking abt the mostly black island santiago)

independence day is not really celebrated here : ( ppl have conflicting opinions on the independence of the country. most of the country likes the day (july 5) bc it's a day off from work. other ppl say that it's hard to be a country with growing pains and would rather have portugal's gov't deal with building the infrastructure. other ppl are putting in the work to ease the growing pains. kinda sad since massachusetts, rhode island, and brazil (afaik) have big celebrations (fireworks and everything) rather than just a random ceremony where the president speaks for a bit and everyone goes home

a lot of the night life is european. someone pls teach me how to vibe to edm and house music and general non-lyrical music fjewiaofj but also shoutout to that club with brazilian funk. if only i learned the dance that my são paulo friend taught me </3

3 . the food is sorta fantastic here ngl

yes, i'm behind on the foodposting, and idk if i'll ever catch up lmao

for my lovely friends who eat meat, cachupa / caxupa is one of the loveliest things to eat. it's a meat-based (with veggies!) soup dish ?? it usually has either fish or pork tho. it's the national dish for a reason <33 also the seafood is good. sola-approved!

for my lovely friends who don't eat meat, i found a vegan place like 8 min away from my apt! also bc i'm in a City, it's easy to ask for things to be made vegetarian (plus there's always couscous and salads lol). also veg cachupa exists

for all my lovely friends, the food isn't Too too varied. i feel like the most common foods are pizzas, pastas, burgers, and shwarmas. also chinese foods are translated in an interesting way: noodles are pasta / spaghetti, dumplings are pastels (the empanada-esque brazilian translation), etc. there are also a bunch of brazilian churrascarias and one (1) indian restaurant

also i tried to be Cool and add some hot sauce to one of my pastas and i had to pretend i didn't want to kill myself in front of the Adults on the table

4. kabuverdianu is a cool language

i learned duolingo's haitian creole to get the vibes of a creole language. though this is attached to portuguese instead of french, a lot of the characteristics are the same. the words borrowed from the european language are spelled in a way that makes sense (maybe in a way that makes more sense to spanish-speakers?). i also like how gendered things tend to just be made gender neutral (usually defaulting to the masc way). i can hear it and understand it if spoken to me slowly, but after that ... oof!

5 . marcha do orgulho made me v happy

what if i change my "go to carnaval in every continent" goal to "go to pride in every continent" hehe. i think it was so Good how the pride that had 30 ppl last year exceeded their goal of 100 ppl this year by A Lot. even though there were a lot of ppl from the EU who backed the event (logistically spread the word i think??), the ppl who showed up were mostly black and made it such a fun time :,)

i also met a trans woman who claimed was the only trans woman in her island :,0 [5] she traveled all the way to santiago for pride

6 . overall i'm excited for the summer

i think that i'll spend a lot of my time reading a book by the beach and learning kabuverdianu while telling myself that i can maybe be an immigrant like my parents [4] or at least work abroad for a few years maybe. i'm excited to be an adult. i went to the beach (one on the other side of the island) today, and i just feel refreshed. i got to swim in the water like if it were a pool and hang out with the fish lol

Summary: You meet the Avengers for the first time when someone crashes the party. (Rough Draft I never planned to publish)

You drive on the highway, keeping the 40s station on and letting the calm melody fill the car. The sounds rock you into comfort as you de-stress. You turn up the volume as Helen Forest comes on and you hum along absent mindedly. Steve smiles, watching you in the corner of his eye.

Steve and you have been officially dating for a month now. Or as Steve says, "going steady." Which you think sounds cuter. He says he has something special planned for today and it excites you. He never keeps secrets from you, so it must be big.

You sit shotgun as Steve drives down the high way. You turn up the music and roll down the window a bit more. Even though this act allows you to hear the thunderous sounds of the high way, sounds so loud it drowns out the music and makes you have to shout to be heard, you love it. You love the breeze in particular, if you can even call it that.

You love sensation the cold gust adds to your sences, making you feel alive and tricking you into thinking you are driving faster than the steady 70 mph Steve keeps the car at. Or maybe it's deeper than that. Maybe it reminds you of your first date with Steve, how you rode on his motorcycle and had the wind in your face then.

Steve gently closes the car door once you are parked, immediately intertwining his hand with yours. He rubs circles on the back of your hand in a reassuring nature as you look at the building. Stark Tower...Avengers Tower.

"So. I am going to meet your co-workers?" You question in a casual tone as you straighten out your dress. He smiles at you. You always played everything off like it was nothing. You could handle whatever was thrown at you. He knows you are very nervous on the inside though. Trying to show strength.

You enter the elevator and are whisked away to another floor, high up in the tower. You feel your stomach sink at the thought of meeting the superheroes. You do not want to make a bad impression. The elevator door opens slowly and you make your way into the living room area, Steve still holding your hand.

You're suprised to see that a party is going on. Natasha is by the bar, talking to Bruce Banner. Rhode is sharing his war machine story with a group of girls. The other Avengers are mingling with cheerful guests.

"We were just trying to figure out who can pick this up." Tony says, walking out of the way to reveal Thor's hammer dramatically. "Up for the challenge? It's sort of like an initiation." He says in a cool tone. After hearing all the stories Steve tells you, you know there is some kind of trick to it.

"Stark." You hear Steve warn with a slight growl in his threatening tone. He did not appreciate the billionaire trying to poke fun at you. Tony swings his arm over your shoulder, whisking you away to the table.

"Oh, loosen up Spangles. I am sure your girlfriend can handle it." He says nonchalantly. You look over your shoulder at Steve.

"Spangles?" You mouth to him in confusion. Steve shrugs back at you. You sit next to Steve on a couch. The hammer sits on a table in the middle of you all. You walk up to the hammer and grab it. You manage to lift it up less than an inch, so no big deal. Thor can wave it around like nothing after all.

"Goodness!! Is this thing made of steel or something?" You question, rolling and massaging your wrist. You look up to see all of the Avengers look at you in shock.

"Was I not suppose to be able to do that?" You question innocently, pointing to the hammer as you continue to massage your wrist.

"Nope." Hawkeye says blutly, taking a sip from his drink. Everyone looks at you in shock and Thor seems nervous.

Blackwidow steps forward. "You see only Thor can pick up the hammer since only he is worthy. If you can pick it up, you can technically rule Asgard." She tries not to laugh as the others go on with their humorous conversions. Not wanting the party mood to die out even if you did just do a remarkable feat.

You walk back over to Steve and he holds you closely, a proud smile on his face. You sit on the couch with him and watch the others attempts. Hawkeye is first. After seeing you pick it up, he figures it will be a piece of cake. Thor just makes the possibility of picking up Minjor seem impossible with the whole, "you must be worthy," thing. You watch him take a deep breath and try to pick up the hammer. He is suprised to find it will not budge and Clint soon gives in.

Tony tries next. Picking up the hammer, he uses the leather strap as leverage. When that does not work he brings out his Iron man glove and activates the thrusters, but still it will not budge. Nothing seems to work, after one more attempt with Rhodes help and the Iron man gloves, Mr.Stark gives up.

Then it is Banner. He yanks at it and soon seems a bit upset that it will not move. As a joke he pretends to turn into Hulk with cheesy yells. You quietly laugh at his actions, but no one else reacts.

"I'd like to see you pick it up." Stark challenges Steve. Steve shrugs and walks towards the hammer. He wraps his arm around the handle, his muscles become more prominent. You see the hammer move slightly, catching Thor off guard. Thor seems afraid, more afraid than when you picked it up. No one else seems to really notice though.

Everyone continues to joke around and laugh, drowning out the achievement the Captain just made. You smile at him, showing that you noticed and value his achievement. He is about to say something, when a high pitched sound rings through the room. Everyone covers their ears to lessen the sharp screeching tone. Once it's over you see everyone tence, ready to fight. Agent Hill loads a gun and hides it under the table.

You turn around to see a robot in the door way. It looked like one of Tony's broken Iron Man suits. The mouth is cracked and some limbs are missing, loose wires take their place. Steve pushes you behind him, that way he can protect you if something happens. You manage to stand on your toes and see over his shoulder.

The robot moves forward cautiously. Its movements are sharp and stiff, as if its getting use to movement and life. No one breaks the silence as you all wait to see what the new threat has to say. It stares at you, then looks to everyone else.

You are too distracted by the looming threat of a fight to focus on the speech the robot prepared. Everything that occurs once it's done happens quickly.

Natasha jumps over the bar counter and Banner quickly follows her. You try to find cover as more of Tony's rogue safety bots fly in. Nat slides a pistol over to you. You snatch it and load it before shooting at a robot that has targeted you. In the corner of your eye you see Clint jumping on the back of a robot. Thor hits them around and Steve uses his shield. Hill continues to shoot them down with quick and precise shots. Through teamwork, the robots fall one at a time.

You use your rounds on a robot that is going after doctor Helen Cho as she hides in a corner, totally vulnerable and unarmed. The robot quickly looks towards you and rushes at you, that's when your gun clicks. Your nerves suddenly act up as you lose the feeling of power, control and security you had, hiding behind the weapon.

A repulsor ray suddenly shoots out and goes clean through the robot's head. The repulsor leaves behind a base ball sized hole, with red hot edges, proving how deadly one blast can be. You give Tony a grateful smile, before guiding Dr.Cho to safety. You keep her behind you for the rest of the fight, with a newly loaded gun.

You do not bring her out until it is silent and you see Thor's hammer destroy the head suit. The lead robot seemed to crumble into pieces and shatter due to the sheer force of the hammer.

You let out a sigh of relief and guide the doctor to the middle of the room. She is still shaken, but who could blame her.
