ok so im pretty sure harry calling uma “love” is cannon, but how do you know the “darling” part is?
It's in the book, rise of the isle of the lost. There's a part where Harry says he'll be Uma's first date if she's lucky, and shortly after that he calls her darling.

Mal is bisexual but Maleficent was homophonic.
She liked Uma so she bullied her and called her Shrimpy to fight her feelings
She liked Mad Maddy so she poured bleach in her hair and bullied her to hide her feelings
She liked Evie and was hurt when she wasn’t invited to her party, so when she got out, she tortured her to fight her feelings. Then Doug came along

Canonically, according to CJ’s Treasure Chase, CJ Hook cannot swim.
Also canonically, according to Rise of the Isle of the Lost, Harry Hook can swim.
They’re siblings. They presumably grew up on the same pirate ship. Why the difference?

What did I read this year so far:
Harrow the Ninth
I don't know what is going on and I love it. Seriously, this book is such a trip!
Cannot wait to reread it with the perspective, because nothing, nothing is as it seems
Rise of the Isle of the Lost
Yeah, I'm here for Sea Three and Lonnie
Fuck Mal and especially her time magic
„Discuss?“ Harry asked innocently, „Is that the word for tying someone up and threatening them with my hook?“ Uma smirked: „Don't worry, Harry, you will have your fun.“
These idiots are in love, your honour.
CJ Hook's Treasure Chase
CJ is my chaos gremlin child and I love her
And as everything Descendants, it's fun until you stop and think about the implications for a minute. Then it's depressing.
Cemetery Boys
Idk, fun read? Spanish vocabulary in the back of the book would be appreciated though.
Also, how does one pronounce "brujx"?
Jane Eyre
No more, please and thank you. I read this first when I was like, thirteen. I didn't think it could get worse. It did.
And Jane? Go touch some grass.
Eugen Onegin
There is no plot and I hate it.
Also, someone tore out Tatiana's letter to Onegin from the library book I was borrowing.
One Last Stop
Ok, turns out I have two favourite [romantic] relationship dynamics to read. One of them is "slightly feral lesbians with dubious relationship with death"
Saturnin
Not bad for a book from first Republic. Actually, no, Saturnin is awesome and national treasure. Both the book and the character.
Also, yes, I do like these chaos-prone characters a normal amount.
The Galaxy and the Ground Within
There is no plot and I love it
Also, it's fascinating seeing the differences between English and the translation I read. For example, there is one character that uses pronouns xe/xir (at least I think so), while the translation used it/its: neopronouns do not work in my language, this is as close as one can get. Also, a child (said character is a child of its species) is grammatically a neutrum, so there is that.
The existential horror of cheese
The Taming of the Shrew
Didn't they say comedies are supposed to have a happy ending?
The Poppy War
I actually forgot I read this-
But it has insane magic system and actual war with not so much romance, so of course I read it.
„Well, fuck the heavenly order of things.“
And of course, too many fanfictions to count-

What do you think about how the Descendants team treats Lonnie and her family, as well as her culture? I feel like Lonnie has a lot of potential but she was executed poorly and her parents and brother wasn't spared from Descendants butchery. Give your honest thoughts about this.
For starters, Auradon is sexist as fuck. we see that in both books and movies.
In the first movie, Lonnie is portrayed as shallow and obsessed with her looks. That is, firstly disrespectful, because to hell with it if Mulan would raise her daughter to care about nothing but status and looks. On the other hand, it shows just how toxic environment Auradon Prep actually is, how all the girls are pushed to be picture perfect, prissy princesses. Lonnie isn’t really to blame for what happened in d1.
in d2, she faces with social sexism when Chad makes fun of her for wanting to join the team. Maybe girls being on team wasn’t actually forbidden, and eight men thing was a figure of speech or something? The problem is Chad’s comments and lack of proper reactions even though they all saw Lonnie kick Jay’s butt with the sword. That probably wasn’t the first time Lonnie tried out for the team, and probably put faith in Jay not being sexist like the rest of the boys.
Her culture deserves to be included in descendants since it played fairly important part in the books. I think in the third one she goes to China to stop them from going to war with Agrabah. It should’ve been implied in movie canon at the very least. We should’ve been given some explanation to why she wasn’t present during d3. I don’t know much about Chinese names and stuff but Li’l Shang sounds more like a rapper’s name than anything else. I get he’s into sports and stuff but it would be super cool if he became a general in Mulan’s army or something, just like how Lonnie wants to be.
All in all, you’re absolutely right. Lonnie had SO MUCH potential, but like almost every other character, descendants wasted it away.

Okay so some people ship Jay and Gil, but what if they were half-brothers? Because I saw a theory that Jay's mother might've been a pirate, and I just really think Gil's mother was also a pirate 'cause there HAS to be reason his name is Gil while his brothers are Gaston Jr. and Gaston the third and why would he be a pirate if he didn't have any pirate in him? I don't know, I just think it'd be pretty cool.

I'm making a Gil aesthetic and am wondering what you remember of him from the books?
I am going to share an excerpt from the book Rise of the isle of lost.
A noisy crowd had gathered around a certain table, where Gil and La Foux Doux had a pulse.
Gil, like his father and brothers, was manly, beefy and muscular, with plenty of muscles, and yes, even the last centimeter of him was covered with hair.
Okay, maybe not until the last centimeter, but Gil was one of the finest specimens on the Island of the Lost, with golden hair that he kept under his handkerchief and that characteristic cloven chin. He was wearing a leather doublet Faded that showed his arms, with two sword belts that intersected in his chest and jeans with leather patches ingeniously worn out in today’s “pirate” fashion.
At this time, Gil was doing what he loved to do: show his brute force to the ladies. He hit La Foux Doux’s arm on the table as a sign of victory, sending the beefy boy to the ground.
"¿What do we say?” Gil said.
“¡T-t thank you!” Said the young La Foux. “Thank you, Gil!”
Gil flexed so that he made two guns with his arms and pretended to kiss each one.
Also Gil is the only one with the patience and ability to build Uma's necklace.
He knows how to sew and is the captain of the lifting team (I don’t remember the name of the club well).
He is a great fighter.
Espero que te sirva mi respuesta y muchas Gracias

why the new descendants movie rise of red makes no sense based off some of the characters
I HAVE NO IDEA IF THE ISLE EXISTS YET IM JUST VOICING MY OPINION
teen hades, and maleficent; they wouldn't've been teens on the isle!!! what, were they 10 when they did all the shit to aurora and hercules??
CHAD'S ADOPTED??? THE SAME GUY WHO ACTED LIKE HE WAS ABOVE EVERYONE ELSE IN LITERALLY EVERY MOVIE BC HE'D 'BE KING SOMEDAY'??
captain hook was a fully grown man that's the point of the entire Peter pan movie HE GREW UP! WHY IS HE A TEEN??
ik the og descendants movies ignored this but fairy godmother was older than the rest of the villains they weren't teens together

Harry and Uma making Gil go on the "date" with Sophie.
Why? Because Harry and Uma are in love and they only go on fake dates with each other.

…so apparently, there’s a new Isle novel, but based on Rise of Red:
Tumblr media
Sigh.
...I can't even say I'm surprised, given Rise of Red's existence alone basically shows Disney wanting to milk this franchise still, so it's not surprising like D1, D2 and D3 before it, D4 is getting a prequel book. I'm just disappointed even more in Disney not letting this franchise just end already, because its what it deserves at this point.
But in relation to the book itself, I looked it up to see if we got anything besides you know, a cover, and...we haven't got much on the plot right now beyond it being set in Wonderland, which... Sigh...look, I know they have Disney's Alice in Wonderland for reference for how Wonderland should be, but um...Descendants is known to somehow fuck up anything it tries to do, and also ignore anything the animated films did, so um, in relation to Wonderland, I'm just gonna recommend this video for why I'm worried about this book touching Wonderland:
youtube
Granted, not the only thing I'm concerned about this book touching because um...while its likely this book will be on Red and Chloe (literally the main characters of the film, though that's hopefulness with Chloe cause Red's in the title), its also likely the book could touch on the core four again and after last time these books touched on the core four in Escape and turned them into what I call the Privillaged Four...yeah, I never wanna see these books touch them again. Just like I never wanna see the films touch them again, but thankfully, they not in Rise of Red from the looks of shit and seem to have mercifully faded into the background, so here's hoping this book will give the same mercy. And here's hoping the book doesn't mention Carlos, given the holy shitness of how Royal Wedding went about mentioning Carlos.
I would say, "I'm not going to buy this because I value my braincells-", but like, a, we know that's a lie because I like to torture myself (I literally brought Escape knowing it was bad and I keep buying the Disney Villains books even though I hate them) and b, I make bad money decisions a-lot lmao, so uhh:

Descendants be nailing the character aesthetic each and every time! There’s so much to talk about!
Tumblr media
These leak and the girl from the trailer are two separate people. From what we’ve seen, Red has 3 very different hairstyles throughout the movie, but we ain’t gonna talk about that. I love her style. It’s like a combination of Mal’s edginess and Evie’s punk royalty. I don’t care what y’all say, the designer is amazing and I love what he’s doing!
One thing that interest me is Uma’s relationship with Red. It seems like they know each other personally. I’ve thought it either two explanations.
1. While Uma was on the run, she found Wonderland and there, she met Red
2. While Red grew up in Wonderland, she and her mother were sent to the Isle of the Lost teen she was a teen. That makes sense to me since the Queen has a salon on the Isle. And please don’t try to get logical and ask why Beast would wait for 10 years cause if that’s the case, why would Beast waste time having FG bring dead villains back to life?
All in one, I’m so excited to meet Red and just see this movie in general! It looks so good!!! It gives the og Descendants vibes!

I used to headcanon that the Hook siblings were triplets.
I thought, “Well, there’s three of them, the age difference between them was never specified, apparently they’re all in the same grade...”
The only mention of their ages was in Rise of the Isle of the Lost, where it was confirmed that Harriet is the oldest, Harry is the middle, and CJ is the youngest. But triplets take their several-minute age difference very seriously, don’t they?
Oh, and Harriet and CJ were identical.

Y/N could barely remember her brothers friend, Carlos. She had been young when there wasn't tension with the Sainz family. Y/N remembered playing on the lawn when the Sainz family showed up. Carlos and Lando hit it off right away, becoming best friends.
But then things became tense. Y/N wasn't sure why, but things became tense between her family and the Sainz's. Lando knew, Y/N was sure of it.
Y/N still remembered the last time the Sainz were over for something business related. There had been a lot of shouting from inside of the house before they came out to their car, followed by Y/N's father.
"You fucking dare, Sainz!" He shouted.
Lando and Carlos were stood behind Norris, watching the scene unfolded.
Sainz muttered something in Spanish. "You have done this to yourself, Norris!" Sainz shouted. "Meet my demands and I will reopen our trading routes!"
Suddenly, Norris had pulled out his gun. "You're jeopardising things for several families. Do you really want to risk that?"
Fury was written on Sainz's face as he stared at Norris. "Put that gun away while you have my son behind you."
Norris didn't move.
Suddenly Sainz had his own gun out, pointing it at Y/N. Letting out a cry, Lando rushed over and picked up his sister, shielding her body with his own.
That was the last time Y/N had seen anything close to criminal work. She remembered the fear she felt, remembered crying into Lando's shoulder.
The day before Lando had set up the meeting with Carlos, Y/N felt that same level of fear. The only difference was now she was too old to cry into her brothers shoulder and he was too terrifying.
She didn't sleep well that night, laying awake and staring at her ceiling. She wanted to text her brother, to see if he was still up and wanted to keep her company. But Y/N knew exactly where Lando was. He was at the club, checking on the business before getting shitfaced.
That was how Lando dealt with his feelings. He'd call up Max, his best friend, and get too drunk to stand.
Tomorrow Y/N would begin the journey of fulfilling her mothers last wishes.
When she was a girl, she always dreamed that her mother and her father would be there. With her mother gone, she had to hope that she'd still have to dad to walk her down the Isle.
But now Y/N didn't even have that. She still had Lando, though. She still had her brother there on her wedding day.
Unable to sleep, Y/N got up from her bed, She walked through the halls of her home, walking down to the kitchen. The house had so many winding hallways and stairs; it was easy for anyone unfamiliar to get lost. But Y/N knew these hallways like the back of her hand. She could still remember a teenaged Lando holding her hand as he took her down to the kitchen for glass of milk when she couldn't sleep.
Y/N felt like that vulnerable, scared girl she once was. But she couldn't be scared little girl anymore. This was her duty.
When Y/N got down to the kitchen, the lights were on and somebody was sitting at the kitchen table. "Oh," Y/N said, startled slightly. "Can I help you?" She asked, staring at the man.
He was gorgeous, lovely, big hair, gorgeous tanned skin and the deepest brown eyes. "May I help you?" Asked Y/N as she stared at the man.
"I'm just waiting here for Lando," he answered in a thick, Spanish accent.
Y/N walked past him to get to the Fridge. "Do you work for Mr Sainz and his family?" She asked.
Carlos had a choice here, he realised. As soon as she walked into the room, Carlos knew exactly who she was. As soon as Lando had arranged the meeting, he took his time to study her. It was strange, the few memories he had of her flooding back.
Now Carlos looked at her, he couldn't take his eyes away. He knew this moment was coming, ever since the Norris family had first suggested it to his mother and father. He couldn't believe this moment had finally come.
"Yes," he answered. "Yes, I work for Mr Sainz," he said as she grabbed the milk jug from the fridge. "Are you with the Norris family?"
Y/N took a moment to nod her head. If she said she wasn't with the Norris family, how could she ever explain behind here? But she didn't elaborate beyond that. For her entire life she had been well, protected. People had asked before if she was a part of the Norris family, and her usual response was to shake her head no and quickly leave the premises.
The man nodded.
Carlos was having an internal fight with himself. Did he reveal what he knew, or did he continue to sit and wait for Lando? If she did tell her who he was, how would she respond?
As Y/N poured the milk into the glass, the front door open. She looked towards the hall as her brother came in and locked the door behind him. "Lan?" She called, only to receive a grunt in response.
Lando stumbled his way towards the kitchen. His hair was a mess, his tie loose and he stank of booze. "Hey," he said as he leaned against the kitchen door frame. "Carlos. You're not meant to be here."
It wasn't just the stink of booze. It was the stink of booze and sex. Lando reeked of it, making Y/N recoil away from him. He'd been at the club, something their father had let him buy on his eighteenth birthday.
With dim lighting, red velvet sofas and mirrors everywhere, Lando's strip club was every bit as sleazy as anybody expected. Most of the girls there Lando had gotten from the streets, giving them a better life than the one they were living.
Of course, with a boss as handsome as he, it was hard to resist sleeping with him. Lando had turned his back office into a romp room. He had condoms in every drawer and a booze cabinet. He had paperwork spread all over the floor, from where he'd pushed it off of his desk for a quick fuck.
Lando hiccupped and swayed as he made his way to the kitchen counter. He grabbed a hold of Y/N's shoulder and tried his best to push her behind him. "Stay away from my-" he hiccupped "-sister."
"Lando," said Y/N as she walked her brother over to the table. She sat him down and rushed to fetch him a glass of water.
"Get the fuck out of my kitchen," slurred Ladno as he stared across the table to Carlos.
Y/N let out a sigh as she put the water in front of her brother. "Lando, be nice," she mumbled and took a seat beside her brother.
"No, he's right," said the man in front of her. "I should not have come early. I apologise."
He went to stand, but Lando shook his head. "You stay. We're having words," he said and cracked his knuckles. "Y/N, go to bed," he commanded.
Leaving her glass of milk where it was, Y/N was quick to leave the room. She stopped down the hallway, took a moment to listen, but then the kitchen door slammed shut.
Who was he to make Lando so mad, she wondered as she made her way back up the stairs and to her bedroom.
Carlos stared at Lando across the table. "Why the fuck are you here?" Lando spat at him. He made a gesture with his arms as he spoke, one big enough to knock over his glass of water. "Why the fuck are you here with my sister?"
"You're drunk, Lando."
Lando knew he was drunk, but he didn't give a single shit. "You're not supposed to be here until tomorrow."
"My father had another business to attend to," Carlos answered quickly.
"Well, why did you come here?"
Carlos stared at him for a moment. This wasn't the Lando he once knew. "We were friends once upon a time," he answered. "Do you remember that, Lando? Do you remember when we were children?"
"Yes Carlos. I remember being a kid. I remember our fathers pointing guns at each other."
Carlos shook his head. "No, I'm talking about when we were boys and we'd spend all day playing together. We'd chase each other around the garden while our fathers did business."
"What's your point?"
"What happened to you, Lando?"
"I grew up."
