TBH the lack of Real Respect Tsuna and Skull both get makes me wanna see ‘em just… Vanish. They aren’t hurt, or in trouble, but they both end up tired as hell and want like. One (1) year to themselves, without being called shit like useless or lackey or weak. So they fuck off and onto some whimsical journey across the world, probably running into the fair folk or some shit (because Tsuna’s Super Anxiety would make him a damn hard target for them, and I feel like they’d just Vibe with Skull. Immortal and all that).
Meanwhile, everyone back in Namimori is losing. their. shit. Trying to find their two dumbasses, flipping every damn stone over because they’ve Clearly been kidnapped. No One notices the note Tsuna and Skull left, because Skull still isn’t the best at writing and Tsuna’s Super Anxiety kicked in and said that if he wrote it he’d never get his goddamn vacation.
To clarify, this is meant to be (mostly) humorous, but I’m curious to see where you’d go with an idea like this. I just want Skull and Tsuna to travel the world together TBH. Feel like they’d make good brothers.
Oh oh yes. Obviously there'll be humor but, well, it's me and we all know how these things eat my brain and I have to give them some bite so:
Skull isn't really one of Arcobaleno that Tsuna generally spends much time with.
When it comes to the Strongest, the ones Tsuna's found himself spending the most time with has always been Reborn and, surprisingly enough, Fon.
Reborn is around more often than not, content to keep torturing Tsuna even if his official title has shifted from Demon Tutor to Demon Tutor/Advisor.
And Fon's tendency to stop by frequently can be chalked up to I-pin and the fact that, for some reason, the Storm seems to be under the impression that hanging around Tsuna will, somehow, help him grow closer to Hibari.
Which is something that doesn't really make much sense to Tsuna. Even after years of being dragged into and out of various ridiculous shenanigans together, and despite recent Hibari's tendency to commandeer Tsuna's bed or floor or balcony at random times to nap, Tsuna's still not convinced that Hibari actually remembers he exists whenever they're not in the same room together.
And sometimes not even then.
A part of Tsuna also suspects that the "Small Animal" title he carries now might just be Hibari's way of getting around the fact that he doesn't remember Tsuna's actual name anymore.
It is, much like most everything else involving Hibari and Tsuna's thoughts about him, confusing and difficult for Tsuna to make up his mind about.
So, besides Reborn's continued sadism and Fon regularly attempting to use Tsuna as some kind of emotional Switzerland and/or human sacrifice to Hibari, Tsuna tends to see the other Arcobaleno on a bit of a floating schedule.
Viper, as Reborn has taken to insisting everyone outside of the Varia call the Mist, tends to blip in and out every once in a while. Often bringing news from Xanxus and leaving with anything strawberry flavored in Tsuna's house and whatever money he might have in his wallet at the moment.
Lal Mirch and Colonello tend to arrive and depart together, attached at the hip now no matter how much they bicker.
Verde's version of checking in seems to come in the form of sending whatever new robot or nightmare construct he's thought of to attack Tsuna and "gather data".
But Skull?
Tsuna rarely sees Skull.
The Cloud floats in and out of town only rarely and never stays longer than absolutely necessary. Often times he's gone within the hour.
Which is, in Tsuna's opinion, actually kind of a shame.
Because the thing is, Tsuna actually likes Skull.
Oh, he hadn't a few years ago when they'd first come across each other.
No back then Tsuna had hated each new and increasingly ridiculous trap/trick/shenanigan and situation Reborn had managed to push him into.
Skull had just been another irritation on a rapidly increasing list of things Tsuna hadn't wanted to deal with.
But ,,,
Well, it hadn't taken Tsuna long to realize that Skull and he were much more alike than he'd ever thought possible back at the beginning.
And now, with a few years of Reborn and this mafia headache under his belt?
Now Skull's someone that Tsuna wouldn't actually mind seeing more of.
Even though he knows it's not likely to happen.
Mainly because Tsuna's not actually a complete idiot no matter what some people still seem to think.
Tsuna's seen enough interactions between Reborn and Skull to have a pretty good idea about where some of the chips in that relationship fall.
Plus Hyper Intuition is helpful for more than just life-or-death battles these days even if Tsuna's not made that fact as openly obvious as he might once have.
It's yet another area in which Tsuna's found he can sympathize with Skull.
Because Tsuna also has a hyper-violent sadist he half wishes he could care less about sometimes.
Which is why Tsuna's so surprised to see a familiar pair of leather-clad legs dangling over the edge of the roof when he steps out onto his balcony, desperate to escape the screaming and general chaos that has once again taken over his house.
Tsuna goes to call out only for that familiar flare of warning heat to snap his mouth closed.
Instead Tsuna does something that he wouldn't have been able to a few short years ago.
He reaches up, grabs the edge of his roof in one hand, and pulls himself up onto the tiles above him.
When he's kneeling on the roof a few seconds later Tsuna finds himself glad that he didn't make too much noise, glad that he didn't draw any attention to Skull.
Because Skull's currently laid out on Tsuna's roof, legs dangling over the side but arms pillowed behind his head, helmet settled at his hip and eyes trained on the night sky and face almost eerily blank.
It is, Tsuna can't help but think, the quietest he's ever seen Skull.
It's honestly a little unsettling.
But, worst of all somehow in Tsuna's opinion, is the fact that Skull looks ,,, tired.
He doesn't even bother to greet Tsuna beyond flicking those vibrant violet eyes in his direction before going back to his star gazing.
To Tsuna, Skull has never looked more like everything he was taught a Cloud is supposed to be than in this moment.
Cold.
Illusive.
Bound to drift away.
The thought sends a shiver of premonition down Tsuna's spine.
Tsuna finds himself laying down on the roof beside him, legs dangling over the edge and arms folded behind his head.
Their elbows are just barely brushing.
And all the while a flickering whisper in the back of Tsuna's mind sings.
"I'm tired," Tsuna finds himself saying some silent drawn-out minutes later.
A beat of silence.
"Yeah," Skull sighs, voice lower and smoother than Tsuna has ever heard it before, "me too."
"I," Tsuna pauses, swallows, feels his Intuition surge and sharpen, "I love my friends and I know they care too but sometimes I just ,,,"
Tsuna trails off because he knows that Skull understands without him ever having to finish.
"Wish you could go to sleep and wake up on the opposite end of the world so that maybe you could get some rest and peace before they inevitably find you again?" Skull offers.
"Yes," The answer practically bursts out of Tsuna.
Another beat of silence.
"I've got an airship," Skull announces.
Tsuna hears it for the offer it is.
"They'd find us," Tsuna points out softly, twisting just a bit so he's looking Skull in the face. "They'd hunt us down and drag us both back."
The smirk Skull sends him in return is far darker and slyer than any expression Tsuna's ever seen on his face before.
"Oh, malysh nebo," Skull practically purrs, "they could certainly try."

Brief thoughts on Lal
I'm watching Star Trek TNG s03e16 and- I love the character of Lal. It was amazing to experience the whole process of her development (I really wish we were given more information about it) it was really comical.
But from the beginning; the process of choosing her form (and gender). At the very beginning of her existence, Lal has freedom that most beings don't have – especially us humans – yet she is faced with a very difficult choice. Because what she picks will be an integral part of her forever.
Later, a tour of Data's quarters, their shared home. That certain lack of human fluidity, was captivating. Lal's exploration of the world (although brief) was intriguing, giving a new perspective on Data's world. And all the way through Lal's learning, from what Data himself (who really did a wonderful job as a father) could and did show her, to what the school taught her. The loneliness that comes with being different, misunderstood – she might not have felt the emotion, but it's not hard to see that something is wrong.
The whole process of Lal's development was also an extraordinary experience for Data, who was given the opportunity to re-experience 'childhood' (like any other parent). Having an insight into an already familiar experience from a completely different perspective. He saw his child develop, at the same time growing with her. He was learning new things, such as what Doctor Crusher told him about sharing his experiences with his child so that he could see that he was not alone. Letting him know about his own struggles, which are similar, making a connection, just being empathetic…
Finding out about human romantic relationships, what people do and how they do it… Hasn't everyone had a kind of fascination similar to hers? The questions she asked with her conversation with Guinan are much more mature, you can see how quickly her development is progressing. She has entered a level of “puberty”.
And to top it off, a kiss with an unsuspecting Riker. I was dying of laughter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then there's a very important element, the conversation between Data and Lal about emotions, which resulted in them holding hands… A really moving scene and showing what an incredible family these two androids are.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I will skip over some events until the memento in which Lal experiences fear. Although her movements are strangely robotic, you can immediately see the huge level of fright she is experiencing. Her immediate going to Troy in a moment of great distress is somehow logical, and at the same time indicative of the bond she has established with others on board.
She is not just experiencing the fear that comes with talking to an admiral who is trying to separate her from her father, the ship and everything she knows, but with the very fact that she is feeling. She is experiencing feelings and that puts her into a certain level of panic.
Tumblr media
And the end of Lal… Deep emotion, emotion, sadness, grief, mourning. There would probably be even more words to describe the emotions that were evoked by Lal's dying. And yet in all this sadness and pain, there is something beautiful to be found. Lal's (and Data's) love. Pure, innocent and strong, touching almost to tears.
How quickly can one character we have come to know in the space of a few minutes evoke such a strong attachment in the viewer, and be mourned by so many of the crew. Lal was a wonderful character who I'll never forget.

Lal meets Uncle Lore
(by @hokuru) #translation = 日本/English, etc.
Tumblr media
✏️ TRANSLATION ✏️
Top panel by Lore's head: ✨ Lal-chan C'mere ✨
Sound effect: (on his knees) *slap* *slap*
LORE (dialogue): "Aren't you cute? Especially since you don't look like your father!!"
LAL (sits on couch): "Are you REALLY my Uncle?"
LAL (reaches out): "I'm envious that you have the same face as Dad..."
DATA: "Lal, you can not look like us because everyone would get confused."
Sound effects (touching Lore's face): *poke* *poke* *feel* *feel*
LAL: "so nice...so nice..."
LORE (shocked, mildly horrified): "Ehhhhh?!"
🎵NOTES: OK, first of all *laughs in B-4*, secondly @hokuru helped me translate "kocchakoi" because it's informal and part of Iwate dialect.
The noise Lore makes on his knees is a sharper sound than a "pat pat" (I liked that detail). Lal is usually written in Japanese fanart as saying "Papa", although, in the tv show, she only called Data "father" to my recollection -- just as Data & Lore refer to Noonian (a continuity that I enjoy) -- although I translated it to the more American "Dad" here. I deliberately translated Data being more specific to make the meaning clear.
The sound effect for "poke" is one more commonly used in erotic/adult manga, knowing our artist's sense of humor it's probably meant to playfully evoke that connotation (adding to Uncle Lore's discomfort). I love it. 😆 💕

One of the things that bugs me about the whole "Child coded" or "minor coded" thing is that a phrase like that could be useful for discussing certain types of SSF characters, but the antis just huck it around to intantilize grown women and make that impossible.
Data's daughter Lal in Star Trek TNG is actually child coded in that the character is played by an adult actor, but portrayed (at least early in the episode) as a newly created being in a life stage similar to a human child.
Another example is might be the child robots in Nier Automata; the machines in Pascal's village choose roles based on human families, which means the "children" are the same numerical age as the "adults", but have chosen the role of "child" for themselves. They child coded themselves on purpose.
The difference between characters like these and the anti's "child coded" short/cute/small-breasted adult women is that the robots are actually intended to be read as children, even if the biological concept of childhood doesn't apply to them.

Thanks for the tag @envexenveritas. Saved it for the weekend when I had a bit more time and brainspace:
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
88
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
481,422 (Damn, if I wrote this much on my original fic, I could have a second novel done by now)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently, Doctor Who/Big Finish and Holby. In the past I've written for Star Trek: the Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space, and I went through an intense Law and Order: Criminal Intent period in college.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
The World Has No Place In Our Bed: Doctor Who, Kate/Osgood. You all love a fake marriage fic!
So Then This Happened: Doctor Who, Kate/Osgood PWP. There are things I'd change about the writing in this, but I guess you all like it!
Empty Spaces: Star Trek: the Next Generation, I looked at the whole Lal situation and decided to make it worse. People love being sad about Data, and who am I not to oblige?
Ghosts in the Machine: Doctor Who, TARDIS POV. One of my earliest fics and I still love writing her POV.
I Know My Sister Like I Know My Own Mind: Doctor Who, Kate/Osgood with Bonnie as the wingman. This was a fun one to write that I still have a soft spot for but kind of surprised to see it crack the top 5!
I do think it's very interesting how this differs when compared to comments. There's definitely a bias toward fluff for kudos (even the sad Data story ends on a hopeful note), while I get more comments on angst. (And I tend to get the BEST and most detailed comments on my absolutely unhinged stuff.)
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes! But I try to give it at least a week before I respond. If I respond to one right away, then I'll feel guilty for not responding to others right away, and then it starts to feel like a responsibility rather than a fun interchange of ideas and gratitude, and I don't want it to feel like that! Anyway, that's more info than you needed about my OCD but that is why I take awhile to respond. I do adore comments and often reread them when I am feeling down.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hmmm, I have been trending towards endings with a tinge of hope, so even though Two Birds in A Cage may be my darkest fic overall, I don't think it wins this. In my Osgood Must Suffer verse, Nor Yet Favor to Women of Skill ends in a really dark place with Osgood totally brainwashed, yet the sequel It's True the Girl They Speak of Died sees her reaching for recovery. Similarly, in the Modern U.N.I.T Infernoverse, The Pieces That Get Sacrificed ends on a dark note, but Chess sees the promise of working towards a better self.
I think we have to reach back to some of my earlier, more edgelordy work, like Snuggle for LO:CI, which is just an autopsy of the two main characters, or Goodbye to Ugly Words and Yesterday and Everyone You Knew and Were, which sees Odo losing every bit of his hard-fought individuality and identity. Oh, or Vermin in the Lower Zoo, my AU of an evil First Doctor, that's a pretty dark ending.
Oh, wait, no Plaything, my AU of Pyramids of Sutekh where I slowly strip away everything the Fourth Doctor loves. Oh wait, no, final answer: Careful the Wish You Make: Wishes Are Children, in which I do the same thing to Sarah Jane, but worse.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hmm, what makes an ending happier, the overall level of happiness or the contrast to the sadness or pain earlier in the story? I think this question is going for the former, so I'll say either Come to Me Softly, Come to Me Sweetly or The Completely True and Canon Story of Oswin Oswald Seduced Jo Grant, or Jo Seduced Her, or Something.
(Or if you want *waggles eyebrows* happy endings, maybe Respectful Discourse on Power Dynamics in the Workplace?)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not really! I feel like I've maybe got one or two mean comments on a fic on FF.Net over the years, but nothing memorable. Edit: oh, I remember! One person got sooooo mad at my characterization of Goren and Eames in Give and Take. Sorry, buddy, people are going to have different opinions about characters than you and write porn about it!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Fuck yes I write smut. It's one of the great joys of my life. I write predominantly F/F these days, though I've written quite a bit of of F/M, and a sprinkling of threesomes. I've made liberal use of the BDSM tag, and I like things that play with power dynamics and trust.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
A few! One of my first fics was a cracky crossover, The Good Ship [Name of Ship]. I also did a LO:CI/X-Files crossover so Eames and Scully could have sex. It's not my favorite genre, but I'll do it for humor and/or smut.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I'm aware of, but it would be a great honor!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not really, but The Good Ship [Name of Ship] was written with the input of my best friend from high school, and she (with her fanfic author name) and some of her favorite characters do star in it. This is an important developmental stage for teen fic authors and I refuse to be embarrassed about it.
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
Impossible to choose. But have this handy summation:
Picard/Crusher, Odo/Kira, The Doctor/Sarah Jane, Bernie Wolfe/Serena Campbell: these ships changed me as a person and filled my heart to overflowing with yearning, making me believe in love across time and space and alternate universes
Kate Stewart/Osgood: I want the older authoritative one to top the shy nerdy one. A lot.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I am fully committed to eventually finishing every WIP. That said, it has been over a decade since I updated Loyalty's Price and that one has some intense worldbuilding that I would have to recall or rebuild from scratch, so uh, don't hold your breath for any updates soon.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I feel good about my ability to replicate character voice and to situate emotions in the body as physical sensations.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
My god, the amount of times characters speak hesitantly, as if their words are testing a fragile sheet of ice, or touch each other carefully, as if the other is wet paper that might tear, or a dozen other metaphors that my brain has just decided to go to constantly. You absolutely see this with published authors all the time so I don't feel bad about it, though, just amused at my dramatic-ass self.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Not something that's come up a lot for me, but I would treat it the same as using another language in original work--seek out a real human to proofread, offer something in exchange for their time.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
My first fic was a Star Trek: Nemesis fix-it fic written in a spiral notebook in high school.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
This changes all the time depending on what mood I'm in, but right now I quite like Chess.
Tagging @ktlsyrtis and @bonnissance if you're up for it!

For the WIP Wednesday (it's still Wednesday for 6 minutes here!): Our Turn or Gravity, please! 💚 At least if there's no 🦎 in sight. :P
Tough what is AGT? I tried to look but couldn't find what it could be.
WIP WEDNESDAY
just did a little snippet of gravity here so i’ll give you our turn <3
“B4 has much to learn about humanity,” Data pondered, turning his head back to his brother. “It is likely that he will not be able to assimilate to life in Starfleet.”
“I wouldn’t be so sure, Data,” Beverly replied, smiling at B4 and then moving over to a nearby console in the laboratory to continue the conversation. “In my eyes, there is no one better than yourself to teach B4. And the Enterprise-E would be a wonderful place to learn - as you did on the D. So I don’t see why B4 has to leave at all.”
“The Enterprise has proven to be a suitable environment for such development,” he agreed with a tilt of his head. “It was where I had planned to teach Lal about life. Perhaps, I could do the same with B4.”
“Exactly, Data!”
“Is this why you and the Captain have also decided to procreate on the Enterprise?” he quired and Beverly’s cheeks immediately flushed a bright pink. “You also believe it to be a suitable environment to raise your offspring?”
“Data -” Beverly’s mouth fell open. “How? We haven’t told anyone yet…”
re: AGTs is All Good Things haha so a little episode oneshot I’ve had outlined for months that I really need to write lol. also …. the🦎 forecast is looking hopeful

ok, tng update time. friday we did "the offspring" and yesterday we did "sins of the father" and "allegiance."
the offspring: WHAT THE FUCK.................................
ok, as previously noted, this was the first episode of tng to make me cry for purely tng reasons (the bones thing doesn't count bc that's crying over tos, technically). i love data SO MUCH this episode was incredible
ok, admittedly, lal was a little hard to watch at times, the acting on her part was not super great, but the storytelling was very solid, and the situation data found himself in was such. a situation
i liked picard's arc in this, actually. he started kinda freaked out by lal and thinking of "it" as a poorly-thought-out invention of data's, and by the end he was fighting for her rights just as hard as he fought for data's in measure of a man, right up to being willing to put his own career on the line
the thing is, he was sort of correct...like, nobody else on the ship needs picard's permission to procreate (and what a wham line that was, even i had been thinking he should've consulted someone first before he did anything until he said that!!) - BUT because of data's unique situation and how tenuous it is that he even has rights as a living being at all, it puts him in the position of: if he does choose to have children, that child will immediately be in the same kind of dangers he himself has faced
also, how stupid that starfleet wasn't ok with having both androids on the staship when it was fine for the ONLY android to be on one...like, it kind of proves that a lot of people still don't think of data as being real or alive in their hindbrains, even if they use the right lip service. like i said, even picard AND EYE PERSONALLY were shocked he did this without consulting someone when we wouldn't have the same kind of shock if it happened to a human
though come to think of it i definitely don't think starfleet officers should be getting pregnant in space either no children should be aboard a starship human or not but that's a different story
it's WILD that she surpassed him, learned to feel feelings (and i still blame the starfleet dude for giving her a panic attack or w/e), and then he's got what's left of her in his own brain. 8in theory, he should know how to access a feeling...but can he, without being destroyed...that's twice now (her and raina) that we've seen androids be destroyed by their ability to feel emotion. i wonder if data realizes that what he seeks is actually very dangerous to him...
anyway, what got me was "thank you for my life." it was so short and most of it wasn't even fun but she was glad to have experienced it and AAAAAAAAA. god. 10/10
sins of the father: i was looking forward to this one bc of the title, and SO pleased it turned out to be good. worf fucking rules, i love him so much
i was so worried that secret brother was gonna be a liar or double cross him, because it seemed SO obvious, but once again i was pleasantly surprised not to be able to predict the plot (although i did see lal dying horribly coming from a mile off, lol).
my one gripe with this episode is that i wish riker had been worf's uh, i forget the klingon word but his second. picard is fine and all but he felt kind of redundant here. nobody needed him to be a captain and picard himself said he wasn't as young or as strong as another man on the ship, and riker having been exposed to klingon culture and also generally being down to clown would have been a way more fun choice. i also think riker would have objected more strongly to the ultimate resolution, and it would mean more coming from him to have told worf's brother "don't forget and don't let your children forget" because he would have been way angrier, and we rarely see riker with that kind of righteous anger that picard does so well. like, picard does it all the time so it didn't feel as noteworthy, but if riker had done it, it would have stood out in a big way
also, i liked the part where worf backhanded that guy bc he knew he was better than him lol
anyway i really hope that plot comes back someday, it fucked
allegiance: this episode fucking sucked. they strung us along for like 35 minutes without giving us any clues to solve the mystery ourselves and then revealed PICARD worked it out by using facts we don't know anything about
also, logistics. they have food in that place but i didn't see water or a bathroom and they were in there for DAYS
i didn't like the fake picard either...he was not very much fun to watch. him interrupting the poker game made me want to die of secondhand embarrassment. also, it was never explained why he wanted to fly the ship into a sun...whats the point of creating a double if he does suspicious and noticable things like murder-suiciding an entire starship lol
THAT SAID. this episode is saved from total dud status because of the mutiny. i LOOOVE when they do mutiny on star trek. this one was SO fun fake picard literally gave worf an order and he went into parade rest and stared into the middle distance and obeyed riker instead. WORF/RIKER/DEANNA IS REAL I'M TELLING YOU. whew <3

@adeth / Geordi said: I'm more worried about you.
Tumblr media
To be concerned about another when they were in a situation of potential emotional upheaval was a hallmark of human friendship and, indeed, a quality of friendship in most sentient societies. On many occasions, Data had wondered whether his own friends resented that he could not offer that to them in turn, though it in no way diminished his appreciation of Geordi's concern... despite that it was rather wasted on him.
They sat in Ten Forward, filled with people and voices and yet... empty. Though he could not feel the pain, the anguish of grief that humans described in their literature and personal testaments in relation to the loss of a love one, he understood when it was mentioned that grief came with it the strange expectation that the lost individual might, by some impossibility of the universe, come walking back into a place they once frequented and that sensation of... incompleteness when they never did.
Yesterday, he had spent several hours in this very seat whilst Lal waited the tables of the ship's bar, observing her interactions with the crew, and the increasing ease of the same, and now... there was only that emptiness.
Silent following Geordi's question, he formulated an answer. "As I cannot mourn, your concern would seem to be unfounded. I would prefer..." he hesitated a moment, golden eyes flicking over towards his friend, "I would prefer that, rather than directing such feeling toward me, you instead grieve her in my stead." Someone should. "If you wish to help me, then that would be the best method by which to do so."
A new variable presented itself, and Data blinked, "Or are you worried that I might suffer a similar cascade failure?"

asfdjdgk this is the LAST thing I expected to be asked but let's go!! I'll put my answer under a read more since I might ramble a bit!
B-4 falls under the same category as Lal for me, just because he's been reactivated for such a small amount of time and hasn't really been given the chance to show the kind of person he is (and we don't really know who he is at all - Data dismisses him because he has no interest in acting human and the human scientists dismiss him because he can't act like Data). I think B-4's an automatic Marry, because maybe being married to a human would give him some kind of rights that prevent him from near-immediate deactivation. Plus, he's good with animals and seems to want to interact and develop connections, so I think he'd be interesting to live with. Poor guy needs SOMEONE in his corner.
As for Fuck and Kill....hm. I feel like I have to kill Lore because otherwise I'd be dead. But fucking Data also has as much appeal as watching paint dry (also doesn't help that I'm aroace). At least sex with Lore would be guaranteed to be weird.
If my own safety wasn't on the line, I'd go fuck Lore and kill Data - only because we all KNOW Data is apparently the most unkillable person in the entire franchise. He will NOT stay dead. So he'd be back in a few days probably.
So final answers: marry B-4, fuck Lore, kill Data (but Lore and Data are very interchangeable - killing either doesn't really seem to stick)

Star Trek related stuff ahead:
First off, one of my unpopular Star Trek opinions is I'm not fond of Data.
Yeah. I'm not fond of Data. I said it. Star Trek is oversaturated with Data or some relative of his. I don't think he's amusing or endearing really. I will say Brent Spiner is a fantastic actor. I just don't care for Data as a character.
With that said, I was thinking about TNG episode The Offspring last night and thought more critically about how Data just jumped right out of his seat to go collect Lal to hand over to Admiral Haftel on his orders.
In The Measure of a Man, Data attempted resigning from Starfleet in order to avoid Maddox's delightfully dangerous experiments. The eventual ruling was that Data had the freedom to choose so I'm not sure why resigning or perhaps another legal measure wouldn't be the response to Admiral Haftel in order to stop the transfer of Lal.
I'm sure Data didn't want to leave Starfleet, but he was willing to do it for himself. It seems out of character for him not to do the same for Lal.
I guess I'll blame the writers, but yeah... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

Data had a few hours until he had to meet with the Captain, Lieutenant Worf, and Commander Riker. He anticipated the interviews and had already compiled a list of over a hundred questions to ask, depending on the individual’s various answers. While he continued running through Fajo’s files in the background, he took the time to focus on something personal.
Faith had agreed to work with him to attempt to construct a child again. Data had spent a considerable amount of brainpower the previous night thinking of how they may proceed. While he had not shared as much with his companions, he had already put work into improving upon his original attempt since the passing of Lal. As a result, he had years of experimental data outlining what he would do differently once he was ready to attempt another creation.
Now that Faith would be involved, the project brought on a different level of personal interest. Data was aware that choosing him as a life partner meant Faith would most likely not physically birth a child. He had brought up the option of artificial insemination but she did not seem interested. Adoption was still high on the list of possibilities and one they had discussed several times.
But, there would not be a child born with his and Faith’s shared DNA. Simply because he did not have any. He did have several files on the theory of creating DNA for himself but it was rudimentary at best as he did not have the extensive genetic knowledge his creator had.
Data considered this during his calculations. As before, he wished for their child to be able to choose their appearance and gender. However, along with the original physical options he presented to Lal, Data included a new collection of options.
Using his and Faith’s visages, he constructed several hundred variations combing the two. His thought process was if their child wanted to resemble their parents, as most offspring do, they would have such an option available.
Data became focused on other things as the program ran on its own. He had been unsuccessful in finding any more information on Vorbos Konro which he concluded must be a pseudonym. It was the most logical conclusion to explain the lack of basic information.
His console alerted him that the compilations were complete. Data switched his attention once more and selected an option at random to ensure the combinations had been successful.
He promptly froze.
It had not occurred to Data that he would have an intense emotional reaction to seeing what a biological child of his and Faith would look like. Every other process faded into the background and his eyes were unable to look away from the image projected in front of him.
The young woman was beautiful. She had her mother’s brown skin and the same dusting of freckles across her nose. Freckles Data had noticed and even counted once. However, the shape of her nose belonged to Data. He also recognized his jawline and black hair, though the curl came from Faith. Her eye shape was that of Faith’s as well but the color was his yellow ones. Or “golden” as Faith called them.
He sat there, staring at the image for a long time.
“Oh, she’s pretty,” came a voice from behind him. “You know, for a human.”
Data did not turn around to greet or address Q. He could not tear his eyes away from the visage before him. He knew there was a chance that building another android would be unsuccessful as was the case with Lal. However, he could not fathom a universe where this child in front of him did not exist. They would find a way to bring her to life, no matter how long it took.
“Hello, earth to Data,” Q said, coming to stand by his side. He waved his hand in front of Data’s face. When he received no response he huffed. “Oh dear, it looks like the android broke himself. How tragic.”
Data turned off the image and gave Q his focus. “Once again you are intruding on a private moment. I would appreciate it if you would stop doing so.”
Q rolled his eyes as he crossed his arms. “What? You want me to knock as your little humans do?”
“That would be acceptable.”
Q made a face and disappeared. A second later, a loud series of knocks sounded throughout the room, seemingly coming from nowhere.
“Come in,” Data said.
Q reappeared in a flash of light. “There, happy?”
“What are you doing here, Q?” Data asked. “You made it abundantly clear you did not want to intervene in the events which are going to unfold.”
“There’s something I wanted to ask you,” Q said. “But I wanted to do it when the old ball and chain wasn’t around. Not an easy thing to do with the way you two are attached at the hip.”
“What is your question?”
“You know I have the power to grant you what your circuits deeply desire,” Q said. “And yet, you haven’t asked it of me. I know what your reasoning was before, but now that you’re determined to spend to rest of your pitiful human’s life with her, I’m surprised you haven’t changed your mind.”
“Q, are you offering to make me human so I may grow old with Faith?”
Q scoffed. “Data, perish the thought! I would never inflict such a miserable existence on you. I’m only wondering why you haven’t asked.”
Data considered his words. “Faith loves me as I am,” he says after a moment of contemplation. “Changing myself for her does not seem like a logical course of action, given that she already loves me. What would be the point?”
“Oh, come now, Data,” Q says, that mischievous glint in his eye. “With all your newfound emotions and desires, the thought must have crossed your mind from time to time.”
“I will not lie and say it has not,” Data admitted. “And I do not doubt Faith would support my decision if I were to ask you to change me. But again, she already loves me. We are already planning to spend the rest of our lives together and are going to build a child.”
“I see…” Q waved his hand and the image Data dismissed returned. “You and the missus are going to construct a whole army of little android babies who look just like you. How quaint.”
“Q, what is your point of being here?” Data asked, dismissing the image again. “If this is a game, you are wasting your time. I will not engage. If you think you will be able to convince me to beg to be human, only for you to take the option away then you are mistaken. I will not ask it of you. Not now. Not ever.”
“You seem pretty final on that.”
“I am.”
Q studied him carefully, the hint of a smile still playing on his lips. “Did your girl tell you about the visions she saw? How I so easily dug into her subconscious and showed her what it would be like if you were human?”
“Faith and I discussed it at length. I could not fault her for wishing what I also wished. But that was then. This is now.”
Q hopped up onto the terminal, staring at Data with rapt attention. There was something more mischievous than usual in his demeanor which had Data on high alert. Nothing good ever came from Q’s hyper-focus.
“What if I gave you just the tiniest of hints of what you’re missing? Just for a little while?”
Data stood up and began to walk away. “I am not interested.”
Q appeared in front of him. “You know, Data, I think I like this whole playing hard to get side of you. It’s very attractive.”
“Q, we are done discussing it. I have duties to attend to. Please leave.”
If Data had not pushed past Q, he would not have missed the sinister smile that crossed the being's face. He would have seen Q raise his hand. Instead, he heard the snap of his fingers, and the next thing he knew, the world spun.
Data stumbled, catching himself on the kitchen table in the process. His body suddenly weighed a ton and he found himself crashing to the floor. He did not know what was happening. It was like every part of him misfired at the same time. His sight and hearing dulled considerably and the next thing he knew, he lost consciousness.
“Data? DATA!”
Faith’s frantic voice shook him from the darkness and he opened his eyes to find her leaning over him with his head cradled in her lap.
“Faith?” he asked. “Why am I on the floor?”
“Oh thank the stars you’re okay!” she said, hugging him tightly. “I don’t know what happened. I just came back from my class and found you like this. How long have you been out?”
Data tried to access his body’s internal clock but could not. Strange. “I…do not know.”
“Here, sit up.”
With Faith’s help, Data pushed himself up to sit. He looked around the room, noting the dullness of the lights and the quiet surrounding them. “Is it nighttime?” he asked.
Faith frowned. “No, why do you ask?”
“The lights are dim and it is quiet.”
“Everything looks and sounds like it always does.”
That was not right. Data frowned and looked around. There was no longer a sharpness to the world. Things looked different, less detailed than he was used to. He could not describe it.
“Data, you’re scaring me,” Faith said. “What’s going on?”
She reached out to take his hand and Data froze. Her touch. It was different. Data looked down at their joined hands, reaching out with his other to close over hers. He could feel the heat of her palm, feel the softness of her fingers as they dug into his skin.
“Q did something,” he said, looking up at her. “I do not know what. But, I have a theory.”
“What do you think he did?”
Data slid his hand into Faith’s hair and pulled her into a kiss. She made a noise of surprise, her mouth falling open in the process. Desire, unlike anything he had ever experienced shot through his body at a spectacular rate. It was as if someone had taken his feelings and turned the dial up all the way.
He could taste her mouth. Or what he assumed the sense of taste was like. He could not tell the chemical compound of her spit or tongue, just a new sensation he had no qualifier for. The result was a spectacular assortment of feelings that dwarfed everything he had ever felt up until that point. Without holding back, he ran his hands over every part of her he could reach, fingers deftly undoing the tie of her robe.
His hands found her breasts, groaning at the weight of them and how her nipples hardened against his palms.
“Data, slow down,” Faith said breathlessly, breaking the kiss. She took his wrists and pulled his hands away. The loss had Data urging for more, wanting to continue the experience. Faith looked dazed herself. “Data, what is it? What’s happening?”
Data did not answer right away. He took in the sight of Faith sitting before him, breasts bared and lips parted as she tried to catch her breath. The urge to touch her was stronger than ever before. He kissed her again, at least several times before she pushed him back once more.
“Data, answer me,” she said in a firmer tone. “What’s going on?”
His mind was muddled and he could not make heads or tails of everything he was feeling. It took a considerable amount of concentration to string a sentence together, a sensation he was unfamiliar with.
“I believe Q gave me human senses.”
Faith's eyes widen. “Senses? What kind of senses? Did he…” she paused, letting his wrists slip through her fingers. “Did he turn you human?”
Data cocked his head, taking stock of his body. “I do not believe so,” he said. “I feel no heartbeat or any change in my internal systems that keep my body functioning. However, I do not have access to certain specific android capabilities. They are there, however, they are somehow blocked.”
“Like what?”
“Access to the ship’s computer for one. Or to my numerous files. I am unsure what else has been affected.”
Faith ran both hands through her hair, sighing heavily in the process. “Okay, so what does this mean?”
“I do not know.”
Data could not even begin to explain in-depth what he was experiencing. It was like he could feel every emotion at once without knowing what exactly he felt.
“Come on, let’s get you on your feet,” Faith said. “We need to run some tests.”
Data attempted to stand on his own but he required Faith’s assistance as he stumbled. It almost felt as though he had to remember how to walk, to reorient himself with his body.
“This is strange,” he said, moving slowly. “It is like my body weighs a considerable amount.”
“Well, it does,” Faith said. “But I’m sure with your usual strength you don’t notice it as much. Can you walk? We need to get you to sickbay.”
Data took a few steps, getting the hang of his new momentum. “I can walk.”
“Good. Give me a second to change.”
Faith hurried to the closet, pulling out her uniform. She let the robe slip off her body. It fell to the floor and pooled around her feet, leaving her in only her underwear.
Data watched her, his eyes following the contours of her body. That desire came back and he felt himself grow hard at the sight. There was a sudden sense of urgency, the need to touch and be touched. He stepped up behind her, placing his hands on her bare shoulders.
Faith paused, turning her head to look back at him questioningly. He did not know what she saw but her eyes grew hooded and her breathing increased.
Data focused on the softness under his palms, noting the shudder that went through her body. His arms slid around her so his hands could continue their exploration, bringing her back flush against his chest and her hips against his. He knew she felt his arousal by the way her breathing hitched. He leaned forward, pressing his face into her neck and inhaling her scent.
“Data…” Faith’s voice caught in her throat. “We need to figure out what’s going on.”
“I need a moment.”
Data was overwhelmed. At least, what he imagined overwhelmed to be. Many thoughts raced through his mind and he found it difficult to organize them. Mixed with Faith’s proximity, it was near impossible to decipher, though sexual desire seemed prominent.
Faith stepped out of his grasp, breaking physical contact. She held her uniform up to cover her chest when she turned to face him.
“We’ll explore more once we have a better idea of what we’re dealing with,” she said, swallowing thickly. “Stars, Data. I’ve never seen you look at me like that.”
“I have never experienced you this way before.”
Data reached out to lower her uniform so he could have a clear vision of her naked body. Faith took a deep breath and stepped back, putting more distance between them.
“Focus, Data,” she said in a firm voice. “Sickbay first.”
“You are right.” Data found it difficult to look away and the hardness in his pants proved quite distracting. “I cannot seem to focus.”
“I’ll get dressed in the bathroom,” Faith said. “Try to calm yourself down.”
Data watched Faith walk away and had to physically shake his head to stop staring. He could not understand how humans could feel such raw emotion without constantly acting on it. He found himself participating in the breathing techniques he often repeated to Faith. That seemed to help and his arousal faded after a moment.
When Faith reappeared in full uniform, she gave him a hesitant smile. “Are you alright?”
“I am. I apologize if I made you uncomfortable.”
“You didn’t. I’m more worried than anything else. Come on, let’s go to sickbay.”
Without another word, the two left their quarters. Data could not help but look around, his eyes attempting to adjust to the change in lighting. He now understood why humans often could not see as clearly as he could. The fundamental difference in their visual processes was fascinating.
They stepped into the turbo-lift and when it moved, Data’s hand flew to hold onto the side. He was unfamiliar with the sway of the lift or the dropping sensation that accompanied moving down.
“Are you okay?” Faith asked, taking his other hand. “What’s wrong?”
“I do not know. My abdomen did not appreciate the sudden descent.”
Faith chuckled. “I think you just got to experience the motion of the elevator the way we humans do.”
“Does this happen every time you ride a lift?”
“You get used to it after a while.”
“Fascinating.”
In sickbay, Dr. Crusher smiled at them when they entered. “Hey, you two,” she said. “Faith, everything okay?”
“Funny enough, we’re not here for me,” Faith said.
“I received a visit from Q earlier today,” Data explained. “He did something to me.”
Dr. Crusher immediately picked up her tricorder  “Something?” she asked.
“We do not know exactly what it was, but I seem to have human senses.”
Her eyebrows shot up and she immediately ran the tricorder up and down Data’s body. “Q gave you human senses? What would he do that?”
“I do not know,” Data said. “Considering it is Q, one can only imagine it is some kind of test.”
Dr. Crusher tapped her communicator. “Dr. Crusher to Captain Picard. We have a situation in Sick Bay that requires your attention.”
“Confirmed doctor. On my way.”
Dr. Crusher motioned for Data to lay down on the examination table. He followed her instructions, reaching for Faith’s hand while he did. There was a sensation he did not recognize but its appearance had him needing his partner’s hand. Faith smoothed his hair back and the sensation ebbed a fraction.
“Don’t worry, we’ll figure this out,” she said in a gentle voice Data recognized as comforting. In the past, it had not affected him as it was doing then.
“I believe I am nervous,” he admitted, watching Dr. Crusher scan the tricorder down his body.
Faith smiled while she continued to run her fingers through his hair. “I thought you might be. You seem nervous.”
Data gave her a curious look. “Do I? Intriguing. How does one tell what each feeling is?”
“Generally in humans, certain feelings correspond with different areas of the body,” Dr. Crusher explained. “Nerves or anxiety typically affect the stomach, while anger and fear make our hearts race.”
“But I do not have a heart,” Data said. “So it is not racing.” He looked at Faith  “How did you know I was nervous?”
She squeezed his hand, leaning down to place a kiss on his knuckles. “Because you did the same thing I do when I’m nervous. You reached for me.”
Data understood. He recalled on numerous occasions when Faith reached for him to help quell her anxiety. It seemed with his new intense emotions he reacted the same way. He marveled at the heat of her hand in his, focusing on it while Dr. Crusher performed her tests.
Captain Picard entered sick bay moments later. “What’s happening?” he asked when he saw Data on the bed.
“It seems Data received a visit from Q,” Dr. Crusher said. She patted Data’s arm. “You can sit up now, Data.”
Picard huffed. “What did the lunatic do this time?”
“He gave me human senses and increased the potency of my emotional responses,” Data explained as he sat up. “In addition, I no longer have access to my android capabilities.”
“You didn’t tell me that part,” Dr. Crusher said, running her tricorder over him again. “What don’t you have access to?”
“Strength primarily. I also lack connection to my internal computer.”
“So you’re saying for all intents and purposes, Q has made you human?” Picard asked.
Data nodded. “In a manner of speaking, yes. However, we do not know the extent of his changes.”
“When did this happen?”
“Within the last two hours,” Faith said. “He was fine when I left for my class but I found him unconscious when I returned.”
“We have to consider that the timing of all this is not a coincidence,” Picard said. He turned to Dr. Crusher. “What did you find?”
“Readings indicate Data’s chemical compound is exactly the same as the scans we have on file,” Dr. Crusher explained. “According to these readings, he should be functioning within established perimeters and yet…”
“And yet my senses are dull and I have had emotional responses that are stronger than anything I have experienced prior,” Data chimed in.
“Why would Q do this?” Faith asked. “I mean, I know he’s an asshole but I didn’t think he was this cruel.”
“How rude,” came that familiar disembodied voice everyone in the room recognized. “And here I was trying to do you two a favor.”
“Q! Show yourself!” Picard ordered. “We have no time for your petty games!”
Q appeared on one of the beds, leaning on his side with his head propped onto his fist. “Ah, but this isn’t a game, mon Capitaine,” he said. “I’ve given the commander a chance to experience what he’s always wanted.”
“Only so you can take it away!” Faith snapped, leaving Data’s side as she rounded on Q. Data tried to stop her but she easily shook off his hand. “Who the hell do you think you are?! These are our lives you’re meddling with!”
Q stood as Faith stepped closer, and though he was taller, her fury dwarfed him. “You should be thanking me, human,” he said with a puff of his chest. “After all, this is for your benefit as well.”
Faith slapped him.
Data was on his feet in an instant, fearing Q’s retaliation and knowing if the being wanted to smite Faith, no one could stop him. The captain seemed to have the same thought because as Data pulled Faith back, Picard put himself between her and Q. Even with all his wisdom and omnipotence, Q had the decency to look surprised.
“I’ve never been slapped before,” he said, resting his hand on his cheek. “You dare strike a member of the Continuum!”
“Keep talking and you’ll learn what it feels like to have your ass kicked!” Faith snapped, struggling against Data and Picard, still trying to get to Q.
Data found it hard to keep a hold on Faith. Over his shoulder, Picard snapped, “Leutient Diaz, you will control your temper!”
At the booming voice of her superior, Faith stopped struggling. She leaned back against Data and he secured an arm around her, hugging her to his chest. Her proximity did not distract him this time as his focus was elsewhere. But having her close did give him a sense of relief. She gripped his arm, taking several slow breaths to calm herself.
“Q, whatever you have done to my second officer needs to be undone,” Picard said. “We are on an important mission and cannot deal with whatever it is you’re doing.”
“All I did was give Data a taste of the human emotions he covets so much,” Q said, tearing his eyes away from Faith to regard the captain. “He’s still one-hundred percent android.”
“I do not have access to my strength,” Data said. “And my senses are no longer heightened.”
“Welcome to being human,” Q said sarcastically. “You know, I would have gladly reversed it but given your woman’s slap-happy nature, I think I’ll let you deal with the messiness of emotion for a while. Really let you realize how good you have it as an android.”
In a blink he was gone, leaving the fuming crew members behind.
“I’m sorry, Data,” Faith said, turning on his arms to look at him. “I let my anger get the best of me. I shouldn’t have slapped him. If I hadn’t he would have reversed this.”
“No, he wouldn’t have,” the captain said rubbing his forehead. “He would have used some other excuse. It’s not your fault. Though, I must say it was satisfying to see someone finally put him in his place.”
“Please do not do that again,” Data said, resting his forehead to Faith’s. “I would not be able to handle it if Q retaliated.”
Faith took a deep breath and nodded, holding Data’s embrace for a second before drawing back and turning to look at Picard and Dr. Crusher.
“What do we do now?” she asked.
Dr. Crusher sighed. “I’m sorry but there isn’t much on my end that I can suggest,” she said. “I did find the presence of Oxytocin, Dopamine, and Serotonin in Data’s system, along with a few other hormones which clearly should not be there. Maybe I can work up a hypo to suppress them until Q changes him back. But I can’t do anything about his lack of connection to his strength.”
“I can take a look,” Faith suggested. “It might be something mechanical. I have access to the files on Data’s construction. If you upload what your scans found, I can compare the two. We may have to open him up to check for sure but I can at least do preliminary comparisons.”
“See what you can do,” Picard said. “In the meantime, there are duties which need to be attended to, including several important interviews.”
“Sir,” Data said. “If you need to relieve me of duty due to extenuating circumstances I would ask that you reconsider.”
“I will not excuse you unless you give me a reason to. So long as you are physically and mentally able to perform your duties, there is no need to worry.”
“But I do not have my strength or my extensive computer knowledge.”
Picard clapped Data on the shoulder. “Then you’re just like the rest of us.”
Data smiled. “Thank you, sir.”
“In the meantime, Lieutenant Diaz, I believe you have Engineering to oversee.”
Data could sense Faith’s hesitation especially when she gave him a worried look. But given that the Captain’s word was law, she did not argue.
“Yes, sir. I’ll report to my station immediately,” she said. Before she left, she squeezed Data’s hand. “Call me if anything happens. Okay?”
A warmth spread through Data’s chest and he squeezed Faith’s hand before letting her go. He could not help but watch her walk away, his mind consumed by the woman he loved. He did not realize he was staring until Captain Picard cleared his throat.
“Commander,” he said. “Try to stay focused.”
Data returned his attention to Picard, the warmth from his chest now spreading to his face. Embarrassment. “I apologize, captain.”
Picard shook his head and shared a knowing look with Dr. Crusher. “Young love.”
Data followed Picard out of sickbay, unsure of what to expect next.

Digital Media: Sources & Significance
Reader
1. H. Desamsetti & K. Lal (2019) , “Being a Realistic Master: Creating Props & Environments Design for AAA Games, Asian Journal of Applied Linguistics, Vol. 6 No.2”,
The authors covers the procedure and workflows for creating virtual reality, environments, and assets for AAA video games. This defines that an environment designer is responsible for visually creating a game world and works with teams of concept art, animation, level design, tech art and so on. An important approach is to create modular assets have a rigid grid that can be easily integrated with larger environments such as building materials. In property creation, referencing has a significant role, with 3D scanning of the base model, collecting reference images and many other ways. Other tips authors given include the importance of setting up the right metrics quickly, reusing the modular pieces, playtesting for a smooth gameplay flow and so on. In overall, the article helped me to understand what are the duties of an environment & props artist in creating a game.
2. J. Roettl & R. Terlutter (2018), “The same video game in 2D, 3D or virtual reality – How does technology impact game evaluation and brand placements?” https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0200724
This article helps to examine the influence of player experience and brand placement on playing the same video game in 2D, 3D and head-mounted-display (HMD) virtual reality (VR) versions. The authors have helped us to understand the limitations & implications. They shows that while HMD VR increases the perception of presence, it can lead to drawbacks such as lower brand recall and increased cognitive load, which can affect the overall gaming experience. Such information from these findings contribute valuable insights into the growing field of participatory games and virtual reality. The data examines the effects of different video game technologies(2D, 3D and VR) on player experiences, including presence, motivation, perception of the game, and memory of brand placements in the game.
3. H. MCQuillan (2020), “Digital 3D design as a tool for augmenting zero-waste fashion design practice, International Journal Of Fashion Design, Technology And Education”,
The article discusses the use of 3D design software as a way to enhance low-waste fashion design. Zero-waste fashion aims to eliminate farbric waste from clothing production through pattern making. The author discusses their design process before and after learning 3D software. The overall article explores examples from industry, academia and research on ‘the use of 3D software’ for ‘zero-waste design’. Benefits include faster identification of design ideas, remote collaboration, more accurate digital prototypes instead of physical prototypes, and test design pushes before physical prototypes. The software changes the business process further, it finds relationship between form, model and waste. This helps manage costume waste during design. The authors proposes a new waste-free 3D software. It concludes that 3D tools provide a unique enhancement to waste-design by design by providing simultaneous visibility into fabric use and appearance. This allows for creative freedom while reducing waste, moving fashion towards sustainability.
4. D. Livingstone, J. Kemp & E. Edgar (2016), “From Multi-User Virtual Environment to 3D Virtual Learning Environment,  ALT-J, Research in Learning Technology”” https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/epdf/10.1080/09687760802526707?needAccess=true
The paper discusses the development of sloodle, an integrated system combining the Second Life ‘multi-user virtual environment’ (VLE). It reviews the history of using online virtual worlds for education, and argues that while such environments are good for synchronous collaboration and experiential learning, they lack features common in VLEs like Moodle for supporting asynchronous activities, course management, and assessment. Sloodle aims to bridge this gap by integrating Second Life and Moodle, allowing features like chat, blogs, assignments, and content distribution to work across both platforms. The development of Sloodle has been community-driven, informed by surveys, feedback, and a pilot study. Early results show it being used effectively for things like reflective discussion, connecting remote student groups, and motivating learners. The paper concludes that tightly integrating immersive 3D environments like Second Life with web-based learning platforms can create a true 3D virtual learning environment with expanded capabilities of benefit teaching and learning.
5. S. Van Nguyen, S. Thanh Le, M. Khai Tran & H. Manh Tran (2021), “Reconstruction of 3D digital heritage objects for VR and AR applications, Journal of Information and Telecommunication” https://doi.org/10.1080/24751839.2021.2008133
The article presents a method for reconstructing 3D digital heritage objects for use in virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) applications. The method involves: 1) Collecting data on real objects using a 3D scanner which outputs 3D point clouds. 2) Processing the data to remove noise and triangulate the object surface, detecting holes represented by boundary points and triangles. 3) Reconstructing the object by filling holes on the triangular surface. The novel approach focuses on preserving the local shape of the surface when filling holes. 4) Building VR and AR applications to visualize a virtual museum with reconstructed heritage objects. Results demonstrate the new hole-filling approach better reconstructs surface details compared to existing methods. The method aims to support cultural heritage conservation and research by accurately recreating damaged or missing tangible artifacts.
6. A. Chia (2022), “The Metaverse, but  not the way you think: game engines and automation beyond game development, Critical Studies in Media Communication”, https://doi.org/10.1080/15295036.2022.2080850
In this article, the authors explains how game engines like Unity and Unreal Engine are being positioned by tech companies as the infrastructure for building interconnected virtual worlds known as the “metaverse”. Game engines provide the real-time 3D rendering and physics simulations that allow users to interact with digital environments. Beyond gaming, engines are increasingly adopted in industries like film, architecture, and manufacturing for interactive visualization and simulation. As engines expand beyond gaming to render people and objects in other industries, the implications go beyond labor displacement. The cultural assumptions and values that shape automation decisions in game development migrate to other contexts like architecture and manufacturing. The article calls for game studies to follow the influence of engines across industries in order to shape their emerging role as infrastructure for cultural production ande material processing.

The article talks about architectural games, especially in game design, offer a multi-dimensional approach to learning. The individual component emphasizes the application and transfromation of knowledge through the program and academic interventions. The social dimension emphasizes collective planning and sharing or exchanging plans in the community. The cultural dimension examines the benefits and limitations of participation, focusing on diversity, cultural context, empowerment, collaboration, and critical communication. Together these dimensions contribute to understanding all have the educational potential of game planning in serious sports. In overall, the article highlights on several key findings an insights related to the use of game theory activities as an environment for teaching computational theory and practice, with a focus on strategic and constructivist perspectives. The vision of “connected play” is based on an inclusive approach where students can not only play but also create the games they want to see and play, and encourages an environment conductive to learning.

The article focuses on the integration of virtual reality (VR) with ‘Building Information Modeling (BIM)’ in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. There is a growing need for digital transformation in AEC, and the paper suggests that VR applications using consumer-based head-mounted displays (HMDs) could be a solution and the BIM is recognized as a promising technology in the AEC sector. The article helps us to understand the role of VR in overcoming BIM challenges, which is to bridge the gap in connectivity and integration, VR is also being used. The paper argues that VR can provide new capabilities for BIM that previously did not exist or were difficult to implement. The objectives of the article is to systematically review recent research on the use of VR in BIM.

This paper describes the development and evaluation of the “How to play your research Degree” educational game. The paper focuses on game-based learning (GBL) in secondary education, in particular the teaching of postgraduate research. The article gives an introduction to educational games, which is also known as serious games, and are recognized as effective tools for learning occurs through games and associated learning practices. In the context of differences in GBL’s use of higher education, secondary schools have been slower to adopt game-based learning compared to school-based interventions due to specific barriers. The data analyzes the gameplay loops in detail to show the relationship between different game mechanics and their associated learning processes. The overall aim of the article was to address two distinct perspectives in GBL in extracurricular settings which helps in effective teaching of high-level functional learning outcomes through interactive games and factors and it yields an understanding of the students involved in the process.

This is a study that introduces and explores the concept of “animatorship” in the context of rural development and entrepreneurship. Often, researchers focus on the “entrepreneurial hero” as a key driver of rural employment and growth. The paper introduces the concept of “community entrepreneurship” that goes beyond individual definitions to include collaborative efforts in business development at the local level. The main objective is to demonstrate the potential of animatorship as a catalyst for rural community entrepreneurship and animation practices. The paper is first structured to introduce and explore the concept of animatorship, followed by a literature review, a discussion of animatorship in the village SOS system, the methodology information, presentation results, and finally conclusions and recommendations. From this article we can conclude that animatorship is a valuable and previously neglected concept that contributes to understanding how entrepreneurial activities contribute to rural development.

I want the void to hear my takes on Star Trek: Coda
Luc Picard and the Wesley Mirror Enterprise Bois go to the mainverse and start scanning black holes to find the Devidian's hiding place (they need a certain size black hole to make a breach to intertime or whatever) Riker detects them arriving and goes after them hard, since most of the admiralty is dead he's ranking so he's calling in the fleet and puts a bounty on the ship among the other powers to get to Picard (he thinks they're hiding main Picard). He also is spying on Troi and recruited his caitian aide to do it as well. The bridge crew is absolutely nervous about his increasingly erratic behaviour, especially when Enterprise jaunts away and he starts calling them all morons.
Kira gets aboard her transport, uncomfortable but understanding how everyone feels a lot of bad stuff towards her awful fucking counterpart. Her transport picks her up and its Alt-Ezri in command of the refit Defiant of the mirrorverse, she's also bonded to Dax now for some reason. Kira is understandably very upset by this whole fucking thing, but keeps it together. I'm pretty sure Alt-Dax died off screen? Or at least was implied to in the ferengi fuck around ep in the mirrorverse. (Zek your brain is so big).
Spock and AltSavik meet the Prime Minster of the Commonwealth: Michael Eddington.
Truly this is a hell dimension.
Eddington tells them the parliament is arguing constantly and not doing anything about this whole end of the world thing. He and Savik both try to talk to them but no dice. Savik wont break her word to the Commonwealth and order the ships over to the mainverse cause they aren't Memory Omega's anymore (they all belonged to Omega and were given to the commonwealth but theres some political their about the influence Omega has and its a fun political angle I wish got explored more cause its like a weird inversion of 31 kind of?). Spock tries to get the parliament to see reason because his counterpart was big deal martyr hero and that still carries weight for him. They dont respond well and he gets called slurs (not kidding its described as people booing and throwing things and shit, wild). Savik gets an idea.
The Defiant team arrive in Borg Earth circa First Contact. The rift opens and the borg hold it open, they move in under cloak but get shot down. They dont fire cause that would reveal them as a threat and crash hard near the base (its where starfleet command was). Data, Lal, Bashir, Crusher, Sisko and Picard set out to go to the base and do their thing, leaving Worf in command to effect repairs. Picard starts hearing the collective even tho he's got no borg shit and tells the party but they dont have a choice but to proceed.
La Forge needs parts, so Worf, his alt dead wife and others go scavenging. They melee only and manage to get it all with only one person being seriously injured. Worf is hot for her and its weird for them but also not. She is also into Worf in the same way. Kira arrives at the Wormhole and its being blockaded by mercs because of the Dominion/maybe not just them. So they need to figure out a way to get in without being destroyed. Luc calls up Savik and is like 'we need reinforcements, Riker's off his shit' and she says the parliament is being shit and stealthily implies he should personally reach out to other ship captains, which he does after murdering a bunch of romulan borders. He also gets to yell shut up Wesley, which is silly and dumb, but ill allow it. Rene is basically being kept off screen for this adventure, but still shows up now and again to annoy his alt Dad.
The Borg boys reach the main base and find a way in but its chockfull of borg and the Collective knows that someone called Locutus betrayed them from the two drones that survived the initial time alter and assimilated the Earth. The Queen is interested in this, and wants to learn about Locutus. The vibe gets stronger as Picard gets closer and has a brief freakout but gets it under control. They get inside but its slow going and theres so many fucking borg, dog. Riker catches up with Luc and starts shooting bringing out Klingons to help, but Luc's call for help comes through and 11 other Jaunt ships appear and chase em off. Riker has a bigger freakout which everyone notes and is wild about. Troi briefly chats with his second and points things out stealthily hoping she got her on side before Riker pulls her away on a pretext.
They arrive at the final black hole and start scanning, quickly finding out its the place. Luc sends a ship (or two, cant quite remember) to rendezvous with the Defiant when it returns to the future. Present. Whatever. Its not even their universe or history. Riker has another freakout and slaps his XO which she uses to relieve him of command and send him to sickbay, he is pissed about this but cant do shit. Kira learns alt Bajor is gone from Dax, and given the collapse of reality and the heavy resistance that will likely kill them she asks for answers. Kira tells her whats going on and after a brief moment of coping, realises that its worth it to safeguard infinite versions of her dead wife. (She married Leeta based on their heavy chemistry in that one moment of the ep in S7 and then Leeta died somehow). She agrees to help Kira. Riker gets sedated and the Doc confirms he's definitely got two rikers in there. Troi goes brain diving using her own stuff and finds the other one so she calls in Tuvok who mind melds and helps her talk to other riker and bring will back to the front. He was aware of everything and needs to warn Jean Luc about something his counterpart knew. Lucky they're riding a transwarp current thingie to the black hole.
The Borg team get inside and find the command center of the beam, the old foundations the buildings based on let them find a way in but they need a distraction to deal with the heavy foritifications. Picard has another brain blast and realises that they're looking for him so he takes a grenade and a rifle to make a distraction. The distraction works and he realises the borg may have multiple origins due to failing to get a reaction from calling the queen by the name of the being that became the collective. The Queen disables his grenade and rifle and starts torturing him for information, not sure why, assimilation would be quicker but I guess she's cautious about a dude who she knows betrayed the collective?
Wesley rides a shuttle into the intertime breach to make a map so the ships can follow, he lands and sees the base and all the bullshit they're doing, including watching them destroy Bajor. He sees an older him who talks to him and creates a distraction which lets him run from the horde of Devidians. When he's cornered he sends his omnichron off to the shuttle and launches it back so they have info. Rene convinces Picard to go after Wesley when the shuttle comes back (the leave a log buoy for the other ships) and the small fleet goes in. It goes badly and they're quickly crippled. Luc escapes his ship with Troi and Rene. Wesley is tortured so they can replicate his traveller powers which they use to create the Time Ghosts and Time Snakes to his horror and send them back and forth through time to close the loop. Apparently this always happens or something.
Bashir and Data get in and take out the fewer drones, before getting to work. The fortify the room and Data and Lal stay behind to make sure things go off right. Crusher convinces Bashir and Sisko to go after Picard and they rescue him from the Queen as shes torturing his mind. They make it out but Sisko gets shot in the chest. Worf gets the Defiant ready to go, and Sisko dies with Bashir opting to go back for Data since he's the only friend he has left. Worf is right there Julian, dick move but probably for the best.
Ooph, a lot there, but like, its keeping me occupied, again dissapointed by the winnowing of the DS9 crew and lack of Voyager peeps. Like we got Kira, Bashir, and Worf left of our beloved characters, everyone else is either confirmed dead or likely died off screen because reality is falling apart. Feels like a bummer to not have Janeway ride in to fight time bullshit, especially since we havent heard shit about Torres or Paris since they were captured (presumably they died with Earth). Still, wish it was more everyones story rather than TNG feat the others. How will this end? will they succeed in retroactively erasing their entire history or will we get a fun hope spot. Hard to say. Find out next time on my Im rambling about star trek blog post.
