Okay, here's a showstopper, and the BIGGEST book of the whole month: These Games We Play! 366k of iconic jazzwave fic, which I followed live, and one of the longfics from that era that hooked me the very hardest. Mind the tags, if you want to sample it, but I loved this thing SO MUCH, and it is just chefkiss at the difficult emotional balance of 1) addressing the darker emotional implications of slavefic, and 2) addressing the ten million extra social dynamics that come with a g1 fic treating soundwave's cassettes as independent people and meaningfully integrating them into his life. Now, when it comes to how long it took me to bind this--

Yeah that's uhhhh a thousand and forty pages. And yes it's a quarto book, but still, the print is TINY to keep it that thin. This is another book that's printed for me, and hostile to most other readers 😂

And I did that thing where I succeed with the hard part of a weird concept, and get giddy and start experimenting and escalating with the rest of it! As you may have noticed, I left the pages untrimmed, because this is twice as thick as my guillotine wants to handle and I'm still chisel shy. When that worked well, I thought trying to bind it in denim would be fun and fit the vibes of the text block and jazz both, and I used my cover material to make endbands for a fabric-on-fabric effect like I got with the velvet book. It all worked out really well!!

And to finish out the vibes and loving treatment of a fave fic, I used these fun double-sided endpapers, and I broke out the holographic sparkle material to cut out some cover decoration. I don't think I deserve an end result I'm this pleased with, considering how hilariously little I did to plan ahead at every step, but I honestly love this SO much :D

- as it turns out, SETTLEMENTS are not all created with equal access to resources. BOSTON AIRPORT doesn’t have a single patch of exposed dirt in which i could plant a MUTFRUIT TREE. maybe i’ll pick up a BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS magazine at some point that’ll let me construct GARDEN BEDS and PLANTERS? idk.

- oh yeah the one i picked up that taught me how to make “HIGH TECH LIGHTS” just unlocked some high tech looking lights, not things that i could program from a terminal. dammit.

- also there is apparently exactly one person living here but i cannot find them, they’re not within the tiny bounds of this RUINED AIRPORT LOBBY. i put a BED down to try and lure them out.

- ...

- ... nope. moving on.

- i was just wishing there was some kind of map of which settlements are connected to each other, or that i’d thought to write down who i’d sent where, when i went into my MAP and found exactly that! serenfuckendipity.

- i wonder if i have to connect every SETTLEMENT to every other SETTLEMENT, or if i can pass materials along a MULTI-SETTLEMENT CHAIN? that seems like it might be too easy.
