Every time I drink wine I am will graham looking down at a shot hannibal and we have become each other and he is bleeding out and I am savouring the moment by drinking wine the way he does and I gloat like god often does and he takes the violence the way I did every time he violated me and he almost dies from a distant form of violence but what ultimately really kills him are my hands the way I said I’d do it anyway who wants another glass

no explicit romance scene for wyll in the game? fine, i'll do it myself (WIP)
Ajax’s hands wander around Wyll, tugging along the hem of his ill-fitting shirt, fingers slipping beneath the fabric, mapping out the hard planes of his abdomen. A low rumble vibrates within Wyll’s throat, encouraging Ajax to wander further. He finds his way back down to the exposed sliver of skin, one he’d only dreamed of touching. His thumb strokes circles around the tight curls trailing down beneath his breeches, but doesn’t roam beyond the garment.
Wyll pulls away from the kiss, breathless. He leans down onto the crook of Ajax’s neck, catching his breath. Ajax’s other hand squeezes Wyll’s thigh, pulling him closer, and he responds in kind, pushing himself against Ajax. They stay still like this, the sounds of their soft breathing filling the silence in their tent.
Then, Wyll plants a kiss on Ajax’s jugular as he guides Ajax’s hand beneath the fabric of his breeches. Ajax complies, eager, and yet he asks, his voice barely a whisper, “Are you sure?” and Wyll only nods, a soft whine escaping his lips, still pulling Ajax’s wrist down to where he wants him.

it's okay guys ive got the 4.5 anniversary plot all worked out. ebenholz is gonna be fully possessed by the witch king and all will seem lost but then arturia will band together with viviana and exalter to create terra's new greatest rock band that on-the-spot produces and publishes their first ever solo, a song so full of grunge swag that it immediately offends the witch king's classical snob brain so much he dips out from the front and runs away to force eben to hear and suffer it instead. and then arturia and viv kiss over his half-dead body or something idk love wins

Ngl, I really think that these bylers that are crying 24/7 about "purity culture" or whatever, are playing dumb when they start with their "but Nancy and Steve were 16 and 17 in that scene of s1!!!1" like... We got introduced to these characters at that age and the people playing them were already adults. So yeah, sorry but I think it's easy to see why most viewers would be uncomfortable with a more sexual scene of Mike and Will and it's not automatically homophobia, I think that would be the case with any of the kids since we got introduced to these characters when they were 12 and the actors were babies as well. We literally saw those kids grow. And I'm not saying byler should only get to peck or hold hands, It'd be cool if they have their epic kiss or whatever, but Will hasn't even had his first kiss yet and some of these people are already talking about sex scenes, like... Be for real 😭
funny you should say that...because i've used the nancy was 15-16 in season one argument (last tag) before while also saying that i understand why people find the sex part of their sexualities uncomfortable to discuss. and i wanna reiterate that, again, i totally understand that people feel like they've seen them grow up etc etc and that they still think of the actors themselves as children even thought they're not anymore.
i don't think it's all homophobia because like you said, people would probably feel the same about lucas and max and discussions of sex (i don't know if anyone is discussing that because there's much less discourse to have there and you can't argue that people are homophobic if they disagree with you) but i don't think it would be justified either. the "but we knew the characters when they were little" argument makes me think me of an ancient disney channel/abc show that old people and girl meets world fans who watched it for the first time in the 2010s will know, boy meets world (1993-2000). classic comic of age show, look at these kids. and eric in the back (he's fifteen).

they're eleven at the start of the show and then, what happens in any coming of age story happens, you guessed it...

they grow up. this is them in the later seasons, when the main characters are still in high school i think. they grow up, they talk about sex and about having sex at prom in season five and then they don't have sex right away because they figure it's not the right time yet or something like that, and then they have sex later and get married, the details don't matter. but my point is, who watches a show for five seasons, over years and years and gets upset at the main characters having sex because "this is crazy they used to be children"? isn't that the point of coming of age stories that cover multiple years or that focus on the latter years of adolescence, that they're not children forever and that at one point the characters "come of age" which usually includes their first sexual experiences?
i don't think the having sex part is particularly important in stranger things but also it doesn't have to be for it to be portrayed (see jonathan and nancy), teenagers have sex, it's just the way the world works. i'm not advocating for sex scenes of any kind especially because stranger things isn't a show that features a lot of sex in general, the only "explicit" sex scene being nancy and steve in season one with cuts to barb dying, but i genuinely don't think the duffers would have any qualms about portraying teenage sexuality in general with the party. if they did, they wouldn't have included erica threatening lucas to tell dustin what she found under his bed (it wasn't the communist manifesto) and they wouldn't have had max looking at a shirtless steve for an amount of time that's supposed to make the audience laugh. it's been 7 years. if they do a time jump, the babies will be about 17, played by actors who will all be around 20, the age natalia was when filming season one. the characters are teenagers, babies grow up. it happens to the best of us. i get why people would find it uncomfortable and maybe i would find it uncomfortable too but i wouldn't be scandalized. the duffers had no problem having a child actor portray everything will goes through in seasons one and especially two, i really feel like sex is fine and...not traumatizing or hard to watch compared to every single thing will's gone through lol. and again, i'm not even expecting them to have sex lmao, but i wouldn't cry myself to sleep if they revealed that everyone in the party actually knows what sex is.
last question: do we have any indication that jonathan had talked to more than one other girl (the girl at the halloween party being the one girl i'm counting for him) before he got together with nancy. i'm just asking because of your last sentence, because if we don't he should have slowed down also😭
#yes i'm back to calling people old for no reason. <3#saying that they will all be around 20 isn't a stretch because noah's turning 19 in 4 months and they haven't begun filming yet. thank you#i'm not mad at you anon sorry for not really agreeing with you and again i get where you're coming from and i don't even expect them to#have sex and if they did i would expect it to be implied like jonathan and nancy but yeah#what i mean when i say it's not particularly important in st is that i don't think they need to have sex for will's arc to be complete or#anything😭#i would've been happy with jonathan and nancy only kissing in s2 like idc yk it's a detail#i'm not advocating for sex scenes means HERE in this case i'm not anti-sex scenes in general lmao#i didn't watch bmw over years and years i watched it in like. a month and a half maybe i really was not crying when cory started wanting to#have sex and i was 15...an impressionnable kid who knew what sex was...disheartening i know💔#<- that wasn't me making fun of you anon lmao again i get where you're coming from i just respectfully disagree#i looked up the episode where they have sex and (spoiler alert lol) cory and topanga end up only having sex on their wedding night i think?#and that's not the episode in s5 i'm talking about but they consider having sex and talk about it so still bringing that one up#i found an article about something rider strong (shawn) said about not liking this episode because while they talk about sex at length they#never talk about safe sex and he even talked about his concerns to the showrunner because he thought it was irresponsible since yk young#viewers and all that and he was like maybe you don't get it different generations mine grew up with aids and everything this is really#important and he brushed him off! i thought that was interesting. this has nothing to do with st#ask

Is this a shitty cover for an otherwise GREAT book? Yes!
It’s the enemies to lovers I’ve been waiting for. It has the banter (such good banter), the flirtation, and the ice queen who denies her feelings (she can try but she won’t succeed).

Sex Education Season 4: Thoughts
So, with a little prompting, I am doing this write up. And bow howdy, I don't even know where to begin.
I guess, let's start with the obvious; Sex Education has a Too Many Characters problem. But we knew this- they've had this for many seasons. After Season 3, we said the same thing, with comments like "The Cal/Jackson plotline felt extranneous" because yeah, it did. Confoundingly, though, SE4 maintains a Too Many Characters problem while booting people we've consistently known. This isn't consistent with the past of Sex Education, where people have fluctuated in their roles between major and minor character (see Lily, Ola, Rahim, Adam, Ruby, etc); instead, characters like Lily Rahim and Ola just get completely ousted in favor of more new introductions- like... while I don't find the characters objectionable, I simply have no vested interest in the outcome of Abbi and Roman and O.
As I mentioned previously in another post, a lot of the core dynamics feel totally lost. I think there was something there in the plotline they wanted to explore with Otis and Eric; it's something I don't think I've ever seen portrayed in media, Eric telling Otis that they don't talk about important and obvious differences between them and how stifling that can be for Eric. But it's NOT explored. It's mentioned an episode before the end and resolved with no conclusion and a hug.
The entire first season revolves around the relationship between a mother and son. Other than that one scene where Otis gets his dig in on Jean, where is their relationship?
Even Maeve & Otis, which is the only consistent theme that persists, feels like a shell of itself. It's all sort of cookie-cutter relationship drama, it doesn't feel like it's in any way unique to the foundation and relationship Maeve and Otis have built way back in Season 1.
And I can't say it was all bad- there were things that hit. Aimee's relationship to art and trauma and moving on were great and I thought her relationship with Isaac was adorable. Cal's story was great. Adam and his father rekindling their relationship was wonderful too. But it was these very self-contained side stories that felt like they had pleasing resolutions. Never the main story.
And... what even was the main story? We hopped around so much. There was no throughline. The story of Season 1 is Otis and Maeve run a sex clinic. The story of Season 3 is the Moordale students need to take on the new headmaster's insane regulations. The story of Season 4 is nonexistent. The most coherent storyline I could find was the battle of the sex therapists, and even that felt like it was on the backburner half the time.
All in all, Season 4 felt like a weird, not-great rehashing of everything that had already happened. Maeve's storyline with her mother already had closure, she already said goodbye and realized her only real family left were her friends. And she does it again in Season 4. Adam's father realized the error of his ways and begins to try make amends... in Season 3. And he does it again in Season 4. Ruby, despite being rejected and heartbroken, helps Otis achieve his goals and they leave things on an ambiguous "we're not friends" note... in Season 3. And she does it again in Season 4. Maeve chooses herself and Otis must come to terms with letting go of his first love as she flies off to America... in Season 3. And she does it again in Season 4.
It's all a repeat. Other than a few of the side stories, it's thematic rehashing left and right. I think I wanted closure on the characters I knew and the relationships and instead I got a repeat of themes I had already seen. It was just a letdown.

How explicit film screenshots does tumblr allow you to post? I rewatched The Handmaiden recently and dug back into the discourse surrounding it's explicit material in particular.
I've gone through a whole lot of reviews respectively praising/defending as well as critiquing the film by a range of people. I also read a lot of interviews about the film by Park Chan Wook. Most of it is several years ago, but now I'm at the point where I'd like to put together some of my thoughts by actually analyzing The Handmaiden's sex scenes and their composition.
A lot of the defense of the movie only address the movie's overall themes justifying the scenes, still lamenting they are "over the top pornographic, but with a purpose". I disagree with that defense, and I personally believe this is one of the most earnest and artful, and non pornographic explicit sex scenes I've seen in film - especially lesbian sex for sure, and I can't find many posts anymore actually talking about the content in these scenes, and the layers of purpose behind them.
I think a lot of it goes over people's heads because they just see two women naked together, it looks hot and beautiful, the scenes are very raw and emotional which creates this intensity (that a lot of much more "graphic", less well-made sex scenes don't have - I think a lot of people 'experience' the sex scenes in The Handmaiden as a lot more graphic than they actually are, and don't realize it's actually an emotionally earnest intensity more than anything), yet they automatically associate it with porn, because actually genuine visuals of two women having sex are... almost none at a mainstream level - which is half the point of the film actually showing genuine, full-bodied lesbian sex, that both women actively want and clearly enjoy.
I myself fell into this mental trap of thinking it's objectifying if it actually shows two women together in a way that sex is shown between men and women all the time - something that looks good, that looks like actual sex between women, where the women are actually really damn into what they are doing, full of desire for each other and also physically enjoy it. I think a lot of women can relate to this gut reaction of uncomfortable exposure, so I do understand where some of the critique is coming from.
Like if it looks like like that, it cannot be a genuine representation of lesbian sexuality, right?
Except, if it's not... then what would be? Would it really only be genuine if it had been toned down, or didn't look as good? As I said, I went through many critiques, and it's hard to find one that at least on some level doesn't replicate the argument that "two women together, naked and having sex, it looks damn good - so it's for men!"
I don't think it is, and this movie made me realize how important and validating, deeply needed, such imagery was at least for me personally. Maybe it's not for everyone, people can have different approaches, but I want to make the case that what this movie achieved was important.
There's a lot to talk about with this movie outside of those scenes, but I think the sex scenes are the most critiqued part of the film, which is why I'd like to talk about them in a more structured manner.
