Misato and Electra Complex (NOT)
I think Misato’s problem cannot be summarized in having an Electra Complex (wanting to have sex with her father), it’s much deeper and complicated.
Then what was her problem exactly?
I think she’s afraid she misjudged her father!
When she started realizing that Kaji is similar to her father, way too many questions started popping up in her head:
-Why did she hate her father in the first place?
-Is it possible that she was wrong about her father and that he was actually a good person (like Kaji, if Kaji is considered to be good)?
-Or is she simply in love with a bad man (if Kaji is bad, like her father)?
That’s why she ran away, she was too afraid to think about such questions and try to answer them.
Then what about the “Electra Complex” thoughts?
These thoughts are indeed a disturbing and disgusting way of thinking about her problem, but more than anything, I think these thought are A PART of her running away, a part of the distraction and away for her to disgust herself from Kaji (which, by extension, disgusted herself of herself when she found herself still in love with him and yearning to be with him)
The question of “whether or not she wants to have sex with her father” fails to hit the core of the matter in any way, that’s why I consider it a distraction.
Yeah, it’s not an easy feat to question your thoughts and even convictions about a person you hated many years of your life, and a dead person at that...

Neat detail in Evangelion
So I saw this rifle in Neon Genesis:
At first I thought it's just some random sci fi looking gun that was made up for the manga, but then I remembered that every single other gun in this manga is based on real guns...
So I literally googled "boxy rifle" and it turns out that thing is (or at the very least is based on) a Heckler and Koch G11
This thing is wild, it was developed in the 70s, it's super rare and it never made it into production. The firing mechanism is stupidly complex because this thing was developed for so called "caseless bullets"
Yeah... even the ammo is boxy, that's German practicality for you...
Anyway if you want to know even more about this thing here's a video from Gun Jesus himself:
