Haley toyed with the phone in hand, it’s been several days since she last spoke with Bryce and she was certain he despised her for what she has just done. With a shaky breath, she pressed the call button that started calling Bryce’s cellphone. Ending the engagement was a mistake, one that she was starting to realize she made. Even her father scolded her for doing a stupid mistake all because she let fear get the best of her and doing exactly what her mother does best, run away. Hearing the sound of Bryce’s voice ringing through her ears, getting voicemail again, Haley breathed low and stared down at the engagement ring sitting on the table. The beep echoed loudly through the phone speaker which had her cringe, staying silent for a little while longer to gather her thoughts. 

             “Bryce, it’s…it’s uh Haley, again. I…I don’t know what to say. I’m sorry? I’m an idiot?” Squeezing her eyes tightly, “I don’t what I was thinking, I got scared and I ran…it’s what I’m best at anyways. I have your things here still and I don’t know what you want me to do with them…you made it very clear you don’t want to see me or even speak with me.” Haley leaned her forehead against the palm of her hand and felt like she was digging the knife deeper into her heart. “I won’t call you anymore, I just…wanted to say I’m sorry and I love you. Goodbye.”

Heeeeeerrrreee you go guys this took me way too long to write but I hope y’all enjoy! (Btw my app is glitching and about half way thru the fic the function of editing fonts started weirding out, so I decided to leave it and fix it later. Hopefully it’s not too noticeable.). After watching the beginning of season five (The 100) I simply couldn’t resist hurting Murphy some more. ;)

“J-John, can you hear me?”

Gasping for air, Murphy’s fingers clawed at his neck, electrical pulses surging through his body. All he could feel was the excruciating shocks coursing through his body, strongest at his neck. His legs kicked uselessly under him as his head threw back, spasms taking control. Eventually, the current stopped, and he slumped to the ground with a whine. Emori scrambled over to Murphy’s side, a soft hand cupping his face urgently.

“Are you alright?” She ran her fingers through his hair, trying to calm his frantic, rapid breathing. His face was scrunched in agony, teeth grit. “They must be close enough to set the collar off remotely. We need to move. Can you walk?”

“Agh, y-yea,” Murphy managed to get out, using Emori’s help to sit up. She pulled him to his feet, and although he swayed a bit, he managed to gather enough balance to walk. They scrambled out of the overhang they were using as shelter, running through the dark woods hand in hand. They weren’t going in any specific direction; all they knew was that they needed to be far, far away from here. They dodged through the trees, taking sharp turns and loops to try and lose their pursuers. Suddenly, Emori felt Johns hand leave hers, and turned just in time to see him stumble, falling to the ground with a guttural scream as the collar buzzed to life. He hit the ground flailing, his cries peircing the cold nights air.

“John!” Emori was by his side in an instant, hands hovering just above him as his limbs thrashed helplessly and his screams turned to desperate, gurgled sobs. “Stay with me John. I’m right here, you hear me?” Emori watched helplessly at John as he gasped for breath, gritting his teeth with whines of desperation. She knew that trying to touch him would only result in getting shocked herself. They probably tripped the parameter alarm, and there wasn’t a way to move him back. “What do I do oh my god what do I do?” Her hands trembled violently. “Oh my god John how do I make it stop?” Tears fell down her face as she watched him struggle in agony, unable to do anything. Whipping her head around, she looked for anything that could help. Suddenly, she recognized her surroundings. “The ship is near here,,” she said to herself, almost in a whisper. She hated having to leave him, but she knew she had to move fast. Taking one last look at Murphy struggling on the ground, she turned to sprint through the woods, knowing what she had to do.

All of Murphy’s senses were blocked, only feeling and hearing the electrical buzz of the collar. He couldn’t stop the screams from surfacing. Buzzing, burning, tearing pain ripped through his body as he whined harshly through gritted teeth. He desperately tried to suck in air, gasping like a fish out of water as the shocks ripped the air out of him. The ringing filled his ears, but he could vaguely hear Emori above him, although her words were unintelligible. The shocks seemed to last for ages, his throat hurting from the screams, and he could feel the rough ground under him as he thrashed around. Suddenly, he felt arms underneath him, and he was pulled along the ground. Through his tears he saw Emori’s face, urgently looking down on him as she dragged him backwards from where they came. Black spots appeared in his vision, clouding over him like a storm, sweeping over his senses as everything around him started to swirl with darkness. The ringing in his ears grew louder as Emori’s face became blurry in his vision.

“John? Stay with me, John. We’re almost there.”

Murphy’s eyes rolled back, no longer screaming but simply gasping for air between pitiful sobs.

“Shit, John. Hang in there.” Emori quickened her pace, starting to wonder how much longer he would last. Finally, she heard the buzzing of the collar subside, and scrambled to his side, holding his face with one hand and assessing the damage.  Red burns were visible from underneath the collar, and his face was pale, his hair sticking to his forehead with sweat.  He was unconscious.  She picked him up under his arms again, pulling him towards a small cave she spotted while they were running.  Once inside, she set him down, bringing forward the bag she carried with her.  She set out the tools, and got to work.  

“Hey, you ok?” Soft hands brushed through Murphy’s hair, getting it out of his face.  Murphy’s eyes fluttered open, taking in the sight of Emori crouching over him.

“Em, Emor-” He tried to push himself up, only to be met by sharp, stabbing pain. “Agh-” He laid back down with a whimper, his body tensing.  His hands flew to his neck, eyes wide with fear.  “Em, the c, colla-,”

Emori rushed to comfort him, stroking his hair and softly gripping his shoulder.  “Its off, John.  It's gone, you're safe.  I promise.”

The redness around John’s neck screamed with pain, the sore, burning sensation still remaining long after the collar was gone. He leaned back, his breath hitching as he tried to compose himself.

“Em, Emor-“ He choked on a sob, tears starting to form in his eyes. His body shuddered uncontrollably as he cried, unable to contain his terror.

“Shh, your alright,”

His limbs felt weak, and before he could try to brace himself he slumped over into Emory’s lap.

“John?”

He continued shivering, but was unresponsive, and heat seemed to radiate from him.

“Oh god, do you have a fever?” She hurriedly wrapped him in a blanket, laying him on the stone ground. Leaving briefly, she returned to his side with a wet rag, trying to make him as comfortable as she could in their conditions. The bandaging around his blistered neck was soaked in sweat, his face flushed and scrunched up in pain.

“Nnnh,” his sobs quieted into soft cries, which then turned into incoherent mumbling as he drifted to sleep in her arms. She smiled at him, but her face was still tainted with worry. She brushed the hair from John’s face, planting a soft kiss on his head and whispering a reassuring word that Murphy couldn’t quite make out, the only sense left to him being the musky smell of Emori as she held him in her arms. He snuggled up to her, whimpering slightly as his bandages shifted, but eventually quieting as he fell asleep.

Hope you guys enjoyed! Let me know if you want me to write more like this! I very much enjoyed whumping Murphy and will probably continue it ;)

Murphy is a little more physically affectionate because he’s needy/craves reassurance (part of him will always be doubting theidea that ANYONE loves him) so he tends to be more with the pda… touching her shoulder,stroking her hair, generally doing gross affectionate things that Raven makes funof him for (especially after they get back together). Emori is all about thegestures and gifts, so that’s how her affection usually manifests.  

·Big spoon/Littlespoon? Murphy is a little spoon and you can’t tell me otherwise BUT sometimesEmori has bad dreams and wants to be little spoon and he won’t deny herliterally anything.

·Most common argument? Non-serious:I imagine Emori doesn’t have a very refined palate and he teases her constantlyfor her ability to eat ANYTHING and she yells at him for being a snobby randzi.Serious: as they’re getting back together, they probably have to hack throughtheir Issues involving co-dependency a bit more, so there are probably afew more arguments to be had there.  

·Favorite non-sexualactivity? Pulling pranks on their friends (ex. stealing their things and seeinghow long it takes them to notice!) because Emori is so  s n e a k y and Murphy enjoys their reactions.  

·Who is most likely tocarry the other? John is more likely to carry Emori. It tookher a while to be comfortable with being carried but she trusts him and lovesbeing in his arms.

·Nicknames? Emori justloves saying “John” so much that I don’t think she’d call him anything else. Hesometimes shortens her name to “’Mori”. (There comes a time that he confesses that hepronounced her name wrong once… so sometimes when they’re teasing each other hecalls her EMor-ee and she swats him on the shoulder.)

·Who worries the most?He still has a lot of insecurity and worries about her falling out of lovewith him (like she could ever), but he’s working on that. She worries about him doing something STUPIDand getting himself hurt. 

·Who tops? WE ALL KNOWTHE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION Emori

·Who initiates kisses?John, but they’re so in-synch with one another that you’d barely notice.  

·Who wakes up first?Emori. Back when they were living cave-to-cave, she liked to wake up and watchthe sun climb into the sky. In space, she liked to look out the window at thestars or the earth, and watch John slowly wake up in their room where they weresafe and together. (When they were first broken up, she would still wake up andturn over, half-expecting to see him next to her.) On the new planet, she likesto get up early to face the day—the two suns, the thriving nature, the new technologyto explore, and the man she loves, still alive and learning to be okay withpeace and, moreover, sleeping soundly until he wakes up at noon probably.

I rewatched 5x01 through 5x06 again (for the third time), because hello, that’s the best part. The first time around was the whole reason I got this tumblr and started writing Murven fanfic, so yeah, I was inspired since I love this potential pairing and have since 1x10 during that too-long look Murphy gave her in the Dropship (yep, I am fully aware he was still awful then, what can I say, I’m a little bit savage). 

But now on my third rewatch, where I have noticed more details, I am certain the show runners are just perverse and enjoy teasing and baiting me with this relationship and the will-they-won’t-they of it all. 

Before Raven & Murphy are separated from Spacekru, Raven is physically/visually in the majority of scenes Murphy & E*mori are in, and then she’s present in their conversations. Yes, later in the season we get a comment that Murphy was jealous - of Raven & Emor*, of Emor* learning new skills, and that’s why they broke up, but the show doesn’t need to visually insert Raven into so many of their scenes to show this because they literally say it later. So why? Why are the scenes done this way?! BECAUSE THE SHOW RUNNERS ARE FUCKING WITH ME, THAT’S WHY.

5x01 - Murphy wants to turn on the lights and alert the other ship to their presence. Emor* says no and they sort of argue. Why does Raven literally get up and stand in such a way that for this scene she is framed in the middle of the two of them? Then, all 7 of Spacekru are looking out the big window at Eligius IV. Where is Raven? In the middle of those two, that’s where. Then using the radio to finally call the ship, she’s physically in the middle of them again. Then there’s the scene where Murphy is pacing the hall and Raven comes out of her room, followed a moment later by Emor*. Where is Raven? Oh yeah, physically in the middle. Then we get just Raven & Murphy walking down the hallway together. 

5x02 - unfortunately no Spacekru scenes, boo. Good episode though. 

5x03 - When all 7 of them get into the mini ship to go over to the Eligius IV, Emor* is on the left pilot seat, Raven is on the right pilot seat, but Murphy is sitting next to/in front of Raven, therefore putting her where? Oh, in the middle/closer to him. Scene where they exit the mini ship and prepare to enter the Eligius where Murphy and Emor* exchange words? Raven in the middle. Then we get five seconds of Murphy & Emor* together next to Monty while Raven & Bellamy are on the bridge of the Eligius IV where they are attacked by Kodiak and Echo comes to help. 

When Murphy decides to stay on the ship, Raven is not physically in the scene but she is the turning point of the conversation - he says he is staying because she might need back up & because it’s the survivor’s move. 

After that? Murphy stays with Raven on the ship in 5x03 “to keep her company” and they reference a conversation they had SIX AND A HALF YEARS AGO (not dying alone), they are together all 5x04 and half of 5x05, their scenes are awesome and I spend that whole time with giant heart eyes because THE SHOW RUNNERS ARE FUCKING WITH ME, THAT’S WHY. 

Even after that, although we don’t get any more scenes with just Raven & Murphy, there are a good bit of other scenes that continue to taunt me over this relationship by dropping little crumbs everywhere:

The last half of 5x05, Murphy escapes the Gagarin into the woods and finds the rest of Spacekru (except for Bellamy) & Madi. Murphy & Emor* stay in the woods & let their friends escape, and part of the conversation is about how to save Raven. 

5x06 - Murphy & Emor* are in the cave, and part of their conversation is about Raven. Then they are later in the mini ship and Raven comes up as part of their relationship conversation and the “jealous” word is mentioned, though not fully clarified. 

5x07 - No Murphy or Emor* scenes at all

5x08 - Scene to trade McCreary for Raven over the walkie. Scene with McCreary that he’ll help get Raven back. Scene with all three about the plan to get Raven back. 

Not to mention all those scenes where we see Murphy’s face after some kind of commentary or interaction between Shaw & Raven. Why do we see this? Why is this noteworthy? BECAUSE THEY’RE FUCKING WITH ME, THAT’S WHY. 

Then the season has to go and end with a zav*n kiss (ugh gross) and emor* had to go and use the L-word (ugh gross) and before anybody comes and @’s me, I like who I like, you like who you like, and let’s just leave it at that. If you disagree with me, make your own meta on your own page, please. I liked the idea of Raven & Murphy since before either of the other two characters even came along, of course I’m not predisposed to like some other love interest for either of them. 

I can’t figure out if I love this show or hate it for making me crazy, but it has got me doing some LOST-level speculation and I’m rewatching it multiple times a month after the season is done. So I suppose they have been successful at their agenda of investing me fully and FUCKING WITH ME OVER THIS RELATIONSHIP. 

Season 6 might actually do me in, the fucking tormentors. ]
