The small home, so barren of life, stood ever so quiet among the echoes of voices from the streets. The Uchiha mother sat on her knees at the small table with her head in her folded arms - it was such a pretty day but she opted to staying indoors. She didn’t really feel like seeing anyone, let alone could muster the strength to get up and walk; she was just so tired all of the time. 

A deep heavy sigh escaped her lips as she groaned, rolling her face the other direction. The only people she would even remotely want to see were her sons. It had been so long since that night and both of her beloved children were nowhere to be found. If she could just see them once more she’d be happy. Her dark eyes slowly looked around the room aimlessly, trying desperately to find something to do - dishes to wash or laundry to fold. Mikoto had done it all already and now sat silent at her small table, secluded from the world. 

The mother must have fallen asleep because when she opened her eyes it was night time. The crickets were singing their serenade of chirps and the fireflies littered the air. She could have sat there all night, instead she stood, dusting herself off and reached to shut the door. 

She stopped.

There, in the darkness, a very familiar silhouette stood, staring in her direction. It couldn’t be, could it?
