I liked the part with the worms.

The remarkably flat tale of the world's stupidest man, embarking on a quest to forget that he's living a wonderfully blessed life with his beautiful wife Keira Knightley, because he is sad over a nameless Japanese consort that he saw like twice and literally never spoke to. 

The setting and concept of a man travelling across the world to visit a totally foreign culture had a lot of potential, but the romantic elements that made the core of the movie were simply not interesting. Well, at least there were some nice looking locations and costumes.

Keira looked great in period costume, but what else is new? Her accent was totally unplaceable; Almost American, certainly not French. Michael Pitt's performance was astonishingly monotonous. I couldn't tell how he felt about anything because he seemed vaguely disinterested the entire time. Alfred Molina was pretty great, but wasn't around much.

A weird movie. Not exactly bad, but almost wholly uncompelling.
