What I’m Reading April-June

Sorry for the long delay, I’ve really been lacking the motivation these past few months - but I am still reading fic! Here’s what I’ve been reading lately:

Re-Reads:

1. We’ll Be Seamless (dinosaursmate) - Louis spends all his spare time scrolling arty nude blogs on Tumblr but amongst them all, Green is his favourite.

2. Responsible Forever for What You Have Tamed (leighbot) - Harry runs away to escape his past and Louis has nowhere else to go to have a future.

3. Just Lay with Me (givemesumaurgravy) - Louis is the coach of Harry’s daughter’s football team and Harry likes Louis’ bum. One day there’s a parent football game and Louis, just maybe, starts hitting on Harry and, just maybe, Harry gives in.

4. For Better, Worse, and Mischief (I’m All Yours) (redorchid) - The One Direction PR management team decides that Harry needs to get married. Harry doesn't want to. Louis comes up with the perfect solution to the problem.

5. I’d Burn This City Down to Show You the Light (you_explode) - Harry’s a sheltered rich kid and Louis’ a punk with a heart of gold. They meet when Louis breaks into Harry’s house, Harry obtains an instant and all-encompassing crush, and they spend the summer falling into a whirlwind romance.

Your Name Is Tattooed On My Heart by mcpofife (E, 87K) I reread this one recently and it's truly delightful. The characterizations are so well done. Harry is so endearing (I cried over his heartbreak). And the smut is both hot and really emotional. Love this one.

In Dreams by dolce_piccante (M, 24K) This actually might be my favorite of this author’s fics, although I know it’s definitely not the most popular. It’s just soft and romantic and sweet and I’m a sucker for punk tattoo artist Louis winning over slightly uptight Harry.

Life Saver by objectlesson (E, 31K) This author always excels as describing that heady confusion of falling for someone — especially when it’s a story focused on young love. This one has sweet punk Louis falling for his nerdy, feminine lab partner. (link is to a download... give it a minute to load, for some reason it's funky).

oops, i like you by say_thanks (E, 6K) This is just lovely and sweet and sexy as fuck and I love this writer's writing.

These Constant Stars by stylinsoncity (M, 31K) Punk Harry/Fashion Designer Louis. This author has written so many great fics and this one is really lovely. I also always like when one of the boys is not what he seems to be on first glance.

No Bunny But You by @crinkle-eyed-boo I loved the banter in this one! The flirting was fun and so well done and even though it all takes place in one day, I got a great sense of them getting to know each other and opening up. And the smut scene was super hot. Punk artist Louis/Bartender Harry

This felt realistic – a shitty boyfriend OMC who never became a cartoon villain, a slow rebuild of sense of self, and a considered understanding of where a new relationship can fit into that. Wonderful.

Harry Styles Cooks... - sunsetmog - One Direction (Band) [Archive of Our Own] @magicalrocketships – 61k, E – famous/non-famous, baker!Harry. A WIP, but I've read it twice and where it stops you can kind of take as an ending, so don't worry about reading it incomplete (although if they ever add more, I will combust with glee). I love this. It makes me want to buy ridiculous novelty-printed mugs (I can't quite stretch to a shower curtain), drink even more tea than I usually do, and bake cupcakes. They're both such AWKWARD DORKS.
