Have you considered so-taro?
I got confused for a second and thought you meant azu-taro, lol. I need to remember my names better.
BUT YES I HAVE CONSIDERED SO-TARO. I have VERY MUCH considered So-Taro.
So last year, we saw a brand new artist added to the ranks of the FEH artists, and that was So-Taro.
AND THEY STARTED OFF STRONG:
HOT DAMN LOOK AT SURTR.
Their color work is so vibrant and beautiful to look at, their muscle definition is amazing, and their attention to detail (the anchor, jewelry, and clothing) is GREAT. This is the best Surtr's looked; Maeshima Shigeki did a great enough job as it was bringing us Surtr for the first time, but So-Taro's Surtr is easily the superior one in color and design. And also the expressions are perfect; Surtr's known for having a really contorted smile and we still got that.
AND LOOK AT THE CRITICAL DESIGN WITH THE FLAMING SHARK:
Augh gosh, I could go on, but I need to focus on So-Taro's other piece as well.
So-Taro also drew Basilio:
Same amazing coloring skills, same attention to the muscle detail. Basilio may have been the demote on his banner but he certainly got the better art compared to Flavia.
Now So-Taro's only done two pieces, so it's really hard to see whether criticism is justified or not, but I still will bring it up. So-Taro's a lot like Soeda Ippei where they're great at drawing details, but stances for characters are a little... rigid. Surtr gets away with it because he has clothing that lends him the illusion of motion, but we can't say the same for Basilio:
Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic pose. But this is his attack art, and the same pose for his critical, and for an attacking pose, the issue is that it's right at the end of Basilio's axe swing. You're not feeling a lot of power at the end of an awe swing instead of a point at the beginning or the middle, because the end is where the body settles.
Additionally, we haven't yet seen how they've drawn female characters. But if they're as good at drawing the men as they are at drawing women, they have nothing to worry about.
That's honestly the most minor of issues though. Even though they've only done two art pieces, So-Taro's easily a 9/10, and if they get to draw a female character in the future (I'd LOVE to see them draw Scarlett, Nuibaba, or a Sonia alt) then they'll easily jump to a 10/10.
