I’ve written it as a sequel to Playing Cupid ❤️ hope that’s what you were after! Sorry for the delay, hope you enjoy ☺️

Playing Stupid

It had been a year since you and Daniel had been set up by your best friend Scotty on a blind date and since then you’d somehow become even closer. And, you’d always been aware of it, but wherever there was Daniel, there was Scotty. Their friendship was one of your favourite things about your boyfriend and you more often than not found yourself joining in with their antics.

Poor Chloe

“Scotty! Why have I found 28 miniature ducks around the house?”

You bit your lip to hold back the smile as Chloe came into the living room - her hands cupped together to hold the small pile of yellow plastic.

“…I don’t know what you’re talking about, babe.”

She frowned. “Daniel… y/n… why are there ducks all around my house.”

“We’ve definitely not hidden 100 of them.” Daniel said, as straight of a face as he could muster - it didn’t help that you were giggling into your hands.

“What the fuck.” She laughed. “Well that explained why I found one inside the bottle of hand soap.”

You wanted to tell her, you wanted to say you’d only hidden 99 but the three of you had spent so long placing them that you didn’t want to ruin the fun. And as time went on Chloe had started lining up each duck she found on the coffee table, a small army surrounding the coasters - a questioning brow raised by guests but not a word spoken as they knew just what kind of nonsense Scotty frequently got up to.

When you returned to the James household a few weeks later, the woman in question grabbed your biceps and squeezed. “Where is it?”

“Where’s what?”

“The last duck, y/n. I can’t find the last duck.”

You glanced at Scotty over your shoulder who gave you a pleading look not to say anything. “I don’t know which ones you’ve found, babe, so I won’t know which one you’re missing.”

She whined and smacked Scotty with the sleeve of her sweater. “I’m going to murder you all.”

“Just forget about the duck, babe. We’ve got company.” He hummed, winking in your direction. “Y/n, why don’t you come help me in the kitchen?”

You nodded and followed the snowboarder into the kitchen, placing the bottle of wine you’d brought with you on the counter. “This is going to drive that poor girl crazy, I think we need to come clean with her.”

“I will. Just… one more day.” He smirked. “So, you and Danny still going strong?”

“Yeah, thanks to you. Can’t believe it’s been a whole year.” You smiled softly, taking wine glasses as Scotty passed them to you. “It’s crazy how we could’ve been doing this the whole time.”

“You’re both idiots that’s why.”

You shoved him lightly. “Hence why we needed the captain of the idiots to shove us in the right direction.”

“Got that right, cheers to that.”

The two of you clinked empty wine glasses together before carrying drinks and snacks into the living room - where Daniel was desperately trying to hold in the laughter at the sight in front of him. Chloe was knelt in front of the coffee table showing him the ducks, explaining where she’d found each one. “I’m just missing one. Where did you put it?”

“It’s been weeks, Chlo. I can’t remember where we put every single bloody duck.” He chuckled, as you passed him an empty wine glass.

She groaned and took a glass as well. “The fuller the better, please.”

You shot Scotty a look. The poor girl was losing her marbles over a mini rubber duck. “Ugh, stop looking at me like that, Mum.”

Chloe’s eyes snapped up from her glass as Scotty filled it. “Where is it, do you know?”

She looked desperately between the three of you, a handful of ducks in the palm of her free hand.

“Listen, babe…” He took her glass from her and knelt down - both you and Daniel were trying your best to hold in the laughter as you knew what was coming next. “There was never 100 ducks.”

“…what.”

“There was never 100. We only hid 99.”

“You fucking assholes! Oh my god!” She smacked him - but she couldn’t help but start laughing. “You guys are so mean!”

“Love you too, babe.”

You and Daniel were absolutely losing it - the look on her face was one you’d remember for a long time and a prank you were sure Scotty and Daniel would be telling everyone and their aunt about. You looked to your boyfriend and smiled, pressing a kiss to his lips.

“Happy anniversary, idiot.”

“Happy anniversary, stupid. I love you.”

“I love you too.”

Captain John Price

You guys are definitely Abby × Gibbs from NCIS. You're a little unconventional in your job, but you get it done and that's what makes him happy - seeing you happy and getting done what needs to get done. He is very much a father figure of the task force, so it's no shock to you when he treats you like the child he doesn't have, but paying a little bit more attention to you considering you're not one who goes out onto the field, and is always reassuring that the four of them get back safe. He also totally brings you your favorite drink without you asking. He knows you too well at this point.

Johnny "Soap" MacTavish

cmq characters' signature scents (because im insufferable)

inspired by me finding out that casey assigned their book four characters signature scents back in may and i completely missed it. these are not their signature fragrances (except alex and henry and kind of shara), but rather what fragrances would smell most like them.

alex claremont-diaz (red, white, and royal blue) - canonically santal 33 by le labo but also skins x vilhelm by vilhelm parfumerie for a bit more depth

i know what the movie said. i think santal 33 is boring and basic. skins x vilhelm feels to me like an elevated version of santal 33 with a bit more depth and dimension, so it could perhaps be his more "adult" scent once he's a lawyer or what have you.

henry fox-mountchristen-windsor (red, white, and royal blue) - bois marocain by tom ford

also a basic take, but hear me out!! i originally had henry with tobacco vanille, but it pulls kind of vanilla-y and sweet. i think he'd lean for something classic and understated but slightly different (which is where the pink peppercorn comes in, since it has a nice balance of spicy and floral), while still being palatable for the general public. it also has a similar core as santal 33 in the virginia cedar, which may have been how he recognized it on alex. he may have worn it before and moved on, and kept the base of virginia cedar.

august landry (one last stop) - good girl glorious gold by carolina herrera

i actually have a fragrance in the mail as we speak that really fits the pancakes aspect of august's scent, but she canonically uses lemon soap, so i had to include it! ols is my favorite of the three published novels, and august is my everything, so picking out scents for her and jane was such a labor of love for me.

reminder, this is not the scent august uses (she doesn't have time for perfume while she's solving the mysteries of her sexy subway girlfriend!), but rather what she just smells like. at the core, i wanted lots of sweet notes, because her pancake aroma never wears off, but also coffee for the long nights spent on the train and coffee tits and citrus for her soap.

jane su (one last stop) - kasbah by 19-69

to quote august herself, "jane is spun sugar. a switchblade girl with a cotton-candy heart." so, i had to reflect that. leather and sugar, with a bit of oranges (electricity not included). finding a fragrance that had leather, orange, and sugar notes (of any variety) was near impossible, so if y'all will forgive me for using honey, i had to go with the second best option.

again, she isn't going out and buying this fragrance. kind of hard to do so when you're stuck in a time loop. this is just the essence of jane, so to speak, if it were to be bottled up into a fragrance.

chloe green (i kissed shara wheeler) - dodo (2020) by zoologist

i wanted a weird girl dark academia perfume and it was not coming up with my existing notes so this is what i settled on. in my head for chloe i was not picturing her as wearing fragrances, but rather having a permanent scent of either coffee or tea and then some weird ass linger scent like blood or dirt or something.

obviously, this is not really that, but i think the brand zoologist itself has that very vibe (go take a look, their stuff is cool as hell). dodo is kind of in the middle of ultra weird and tame with their stuff, and i think it fits the vibe i'm sort of going for. chloe also mentions in one chapter that one of her favorite smells is when one of her moms brought home fresh cilantro, so herbal notes felt appropriate.

shara wheeler (i kissed shara wheeler) - dilis classic collection no. 21 by dilis parfum

shara canonically wears lilac body spray and vanilla-mint lip gloss, so i took those notes and ran with it. this is like a more nuanced version of what shara would smell like, with things like pepper and cedar grounding a very floral scent. when it dries down, it's vanilla and cedar based, rather than the lilac everyone expects from shara, creating the idea and imagery that she's not exactly what everyone thinks she is.

i hope y'all enjoyed getting a look into what my brain is like on a daily basis! i love fragrance and talking about it and especially love attaching it to fictional characters since i think it says so much about them and their personality. maybe i'll fuck around and do more characters but i wanted to do the main romances? kind of? from each of the three.

Thank you Skelly! This is probably going to end up obnoxiously long but I love the babies and I don't talk about them nearly enough.

Unfortunately word vomiting also means this is just shy of 1.5k words of such.

11. What is their love language?

chloe x jacob - Chloe is an acts of service kinda gal, which is excellent for Jacob since words seemingly live to fail him when it comes to her. Their cabin is never low on firewood, even if neither of them have been there recently. She reads the 'I love yous' in every dinner, in the times hes gone out of his way for her time to be less shitty. Extra food, extra water. normal romanticizing captor things. (several peak story plot points are atrocities Jacob commits in Chloe's name). Jacob is words of affirmation, but Christ you'll never hear him admit it. Chloe has grown to note the little side smiles he thinks she can't see, holding them close to her heart. Listening to his heart race while she gives him her adoration is loud enough a proclamation.

theo x john - Theo finds restorative love in quality time. Eden's Gate keeps him extraordinarily busy, especially as one of Jacob's Chosen. There is very little opportunity to sneak away, and having to keep things on the dl makes it more frustrating. Long showers with quality soaps and late morning breakfasts at John's ranch are treasured moments he doesn't know when he'll have again. John has a mix of physical touch and receiving gifts. He's used to giving gifts, but the thought that someone thought of him and wants to give him something, knowing he can afford to buy what he wants is so very personal. It's a delicate balance though, between flattery and insult. If the gift is something he doesn't actually like or think relates to himself, he rejects it- harshly. It stems from hurt and not feeling understood, rejecting the venerability.

pie x sharky - Pie is a sucker for words of affirmation, she likes to see someone work for it. She is smart, and pretty, just a bit unhinged and she knows it. Doesn't mean she doesn't like hearing it, too. Sharky is physical touch and quality time. Some time with just him, the love of his life and fire? Absolutely nothing better. Until of course, the love of his life wants to touch some too. That is even better.

15. Why do they like each other?

chloe x jacob - Tenacity. Any odds stuck against her, and Chloe will find a way. Jacob finds her fearlessness both annoying and intriguing. She's also the only person who's given him a compliment without a breath of pity or malice, something rare even from his family. The judges like her, even Haniel does and she hates everyone. He can blame wanting to study her as an interest all he wants, he cant deny the appeal of the vessel the intrigue comes in either. After their rough introductions and a few months of exhausting her, Chloe finds solace when Jacob is around. Thinking isn't so loud, things aren't so hard. She enjoys the challenge, learning to toy with him. On a more serious manner, she sees how hard he works. How much of himself he gives away and how hard he's holding onto both. His pride, his skeletons, how fiercely he loves and protects his own. When things go wrong and she feels scared, it's Jacob she longs for.

theo x john - Theo makes everything fun for John. He's witty, smart, important to Eden's Gate, strong. He can handle John's humor, his sass, his anger. His plane has major plus points, and the loyalty seals the deal. Anyone willing to lie to Jacob to protect him, he trusts with his whole heart. Theo loves all of John, even the manic side of things. He can handle a little blood, tests of violence are far from unusual. He loves having a space to express his doubts, someone that understands the pressures of the Reaping, can help relieve some of that stress constantly building. There's security for Theo in being who John seeks for comfort, an honor in sinful thoughts. John also happens to be the most beautiful man Theo knows.

pie x sharky - Sharky is in love with Pie in the most puppy way imaginable. Nothing compares to the way his heart races when they're together. Completely addicted- his woman, his inspiration, his private religion. She might be qualified to have worked at NASA but she never makes him feel dumb, not for real. He loves hearing her talk, about anything and everything. He learns so much from the way she views life and loves every creature. His absolute lack of self preservation slowly wore her down edges and they talked many a night of her fixing him and Hurk up after something stupid. She loves his bravery, even if its partially a lack of awareness. Admires his lack of fucks and drive to have fun, after having forgotten how herself for so long. No matter how sad she's felt, he's never failed to make her smile. Their chemistry is almost electric, a tangible feel in the air whenever their eyes lock. He makes her believe in magic, and there's nothing more precious than that.

29. Who said I Love You, first?

chloe x jacob - Jacob did, as unexpected as that sounds. He'd been completely feral for 3.5 weeks at that point, looking for her. Chloe was taken into the Wolf's Den by Rook after being attacked by a bear. Jacob found nothing but what were once his chosen decorating his forest floor with no trace of her. When he finally got his arms around her again, there was nothing left to deny. The "I love you.." whispered as Chloe fell asleep in front of their fire, safe, and snuggling into a bear hide rug she couldn't quite remember being there before.

theo x john - Theo said it first, although it was reciprocated immediately. Following an argument where John was bratting himself into a fight, stuck feeling like Theo was abandoning him as the Reaping began and work doubled for everyone. Angsty [nasty sassy] fight ensues, and ends in some very passionate sex outside. Peak climax sets free a "-so good for me, you.. do so, I- I love you..". John has known he loved Theo but refused to admit it first, out of principle, until that moment. John says it often after that.

pie x sharky - Sharky!! Man is a SIMP! Absolutely the most husband. He's been in love with Pie for years and he's said it with his chest every time. Pie rejected him every time, focusing on her work and caring for her uncle.

30. When did they realize they loved each other?

chloe x jacob - A bit hard to answer without giving away lots of juicy bits- but I'll summarize. Chloe's moment of realization hit her like a truck after she spared Jacob's life by taking.. another's with very little hesitation. She split in a mortified 'fuck, I love you' and immediately throws up. She managed to keep it to herself for the time being, thankfully. Jacob's smug self would've never dropped it had she not only killed an important person for him AND admitted he'd succeeded in ensnaring her psyche one go. Jacob at this point had been living his best delulu mindset until almost a month prior- he had to think a bear killed her first, conveniently. This was mostly so I could write a distraught 'fuck, I love you' from both povs if I'm being entirely honest.

theo x john - Theo of course knew who John was, but knowing John is very different experience. Knowing all the bits and pieces, seeing him cry, seeing him angry, afraid? Really knowing him is a privilege. Sitting in the greenhouse Theo realized how much he likes when John leans on him, needs him, surrounds him.. Its altered a deeper understanding and he doesn't want to go without it. Maybe he can't, either way he's absolutely certain, he's in love with John. John has much more of a primal awakening, comparatively. They'd been flirting and teasing each other for weeks on and off, leading up to chosen initiation week dubbed 'pit week'. John was entirely purposeful in riling Theo up, pushing buttons to spike the tension. Standing on a balcony watching Theo beat the shit out of cocky newbies in mud was doing things to him at an alarming rate. Theo's eyes locked with his, face splattered with blood and John is aware he's completely unrecoverable.

pie x sharky - One of the times Sharky blew himself up worse than usual, she went off on him about how she could've lost her best friend, one of the 5 people she's ever loved. Sharky manages to lift whats left of his right eyebrow, "How hard did I hit mah head?" (that ends in super cute fluff- in a wip atm). Sharky fell for Pie in freshman year. The only thing he regretted about dropping out was not seeing her as often. He missed his pyre, his spark. His Pie. She was so smart, and kind. He was always laughing at something she said. April and Jodi on Chloe and Elly's wedding - "we couldn't believe it!"

April: Jodi and I were so surprised and delighted! We actually didn't know anything until we flew to Melbourne to begin filming. We came straight from the airport to the studio to do costume fittings, and we asked our producers what our storyline would be - we couldn't believe it!

Jodi: I literally ran to wardrobe as soon as I found out, I already had ideas and wanted to see what they were thinking. This was a very exciting part of the process. I'm obsessed with fashion, so it was a big moment for our characters and how they would turn up on the day. It's such a beautiful day, very fairytale like. It's the perfect step for the pair of them to take. And I love having Elly's daughter Aster there, too, grown up.

April: My favourite part is having #Chelly written on the car! It's such a fun moment, I love that they wrote that in. I was a little nervous [about the vows]. I know there are a lot of passionate Chelly fans, and I always feel a big responsibility to them. I really hope they're happy with the end result!

Jodi: The vows are very special. It's so lovely to witness the characters get their long-awaited happy ever after...

Father's Day flash fiction: Ramsay Bolton x OC (Chloe Grace Sage).

Title: Change this Day

Writer's Note: It's June 18 in my country so Happy Father's Day. I planned to post a flash fiction on this day with an initial idea, but I only remembered it like yesterday that I have to post one. Hell week is starting in my school, not to mention I have a group reportinv in a subject. Ramsay Bolton was never the male lead nor Chloe, but I was captivated by Ramsay when I opened Tumblr and made him a part of my writing journey, so he became the male lead. This fic is meant to say that there are fathers who don't care about their children and how one dreams of changing this. To be honest, Ramsay can become an OOC. Hope you like this fic.

Summary: Chloe/Sage dreads Father's Day and has avoided it because her dad never acted like one. So when she met Ramsay and she birthed Danielle, Ramsay became a dad. But Chloe/Sage finds it hard to celebrate it and Ramsay made it harder when he claimed that he doesn't care about it. Chloe voices out her feelings and her ambition.

Warnings: This flash fiction consists mentions of physical abuse, sexual hints, angst, and hurt. As well as Ramsay Bolton.

The next day would be Father's day. Chloe never greets her dad for the said celebration. Her dad made sure to pull them one-by-one with his metal leash, interrogate them like they were inmates themselves, and accuse them of false and irrational things concerning their love life and academics. He never cared…truly. When one of them got hurt or one of them hurt another, there was no love in his words, only condescending ones and words made for comparison. He never expressed his love clearly. It was all about him and him alone. It was all he thought about and less about his children. Selfish, gluttonous, and a condescending man who delighted in the company of his colleagues rather than his family. The vocalization, “hmm” is used as a way to express question or clarification, but to Chloe and her siblings, it's a way to express disapproval and dominance.

I was washing dishes one late afternoon. I used too much of liquid dishwashing soap that made it too bubbly and slippery. The mug I was scrubbing mysteriously slipped from my grasp and fell onto the floor. A loud sound of crash! made its way around the house and for sure alerted my dad. I cursed my lack of focus that echoed into the living room. My dad went and stood at the opening of the kitchen-living room and asked what happened and what crashed. His voice laced without a care and only question for that accident, no empathy. When I answered him, he replied, “hmm”, a vocalization that meant that you were stupid that you broke it, it's your fault, fix it. And he left without helping pick up the shards or atleast cleaning what was left of it.

Chloe thinks of what to give Ramsay, her boyfriend, and Danielle's dad. She could gift him a reservation at his favorite sushi restaurant, Teisuto Obu Japan. Splurge on his favorite go-to items, filling up those inventories. Book a full body massage therapy session. Write him letters with hers and Danielle's signatures. Or just present herself for him to fuck. Is it really necessary for her to greet him on Father's Day? Ramsay taught her to budget properly and make inventories before he actually settled with her. He is responsible and made sure to give plenty of time for her. But Ramsay never saw Danielle most of the time. Danielle could only catch glimpses of Ramsay rarely. She would go over to her uncle's house to play with his sick daughter. Chloe has avoided Father's Day, it was only this year that she thought that Ramsay is a dad to Danielle and presents himself as a husband to her. Chloe never greeted her dad, if she did, it would be out of force not love.

I was buying soya bean curd with sago and brown sugar syrup with my dad when my teacher called me. I saw my classmate and her grandfather beside her, who both seemed in distress. I never thought that day would come. The teacher—strict and old extended her hand and flapped her palm downwards, calling me to come towards them. I could not remember what happened exactly and what happened why my classmate was crying and why I was the reason for that. But she stated that I poked her hand with a pencil. I could not say anything but I felt my dad's thick and hard palm swinging on my backside as a form of punishment. I was embarassed and somehow blamed it on her. That started how I never socialize enough with others because then I started to walk on eggshells around each person. Even today.

Chloe has endured several punishments from her dad that resulted in her poor socialization skills, walking on eggshells, and being a people pleaser. His punishments are unforgettable, they plant themselves in her mind that grows big that engulfs her whole head. Her dad sometimes mumbled so she could not hear him clearly but when she yelled for clarification or to voice out her answer, he would furiously and scarily call her and he would pinch her top lip as a form of punishment. Not to mention that her brothers were also like him who also like to inflict hurt by smacking arm, pinching skins, verbally abuse her with curse words, and get smacked in the lips. She got scared of men and what they could do, people in general really. Whenever her brothers recall those they thought of as the “golden age” —contrasting terms with political context, she would shudder and make them stop. Remembering them feels so heavy, yet it is not repressed. However, Ramsay is a different man, he is not Chloe's dad.

“Sage? Who was that man? Why were you smiling at him like I was him?”Ramsay bolted into their room one night, catching Chloe in a fit of surprise, shaken by the suddenness. The scary part was that he was rather calm than furious and scary. One thing about Ramsay is that he is more scary when he is calm when he is interrogating someone.

“What are you talking about?” Chloe gives an outburst

Ramsay stepped closer, “That tall man you were talking about with by the staircase. He was a bit clingy and acted fondly of you.”

Chloe rolls her eyes and turns around, had enough of his jealousy and delusion. Ramsay closes the gap and harshly pulls her to face him. He grabbed her cheeks together and tears started to form un Chloe's eyes.

Chloe observes her news feed full of ideas for Father's Day. Cake reservations, bouquet, money sash, money cakes, beer cakes, etc. She starts to feel fed up before the day even arrives. She clicks on a tab and sees the button that urges her to click having completed the details of her would be reservation to a restaurant. To click or not to click?

“Sage?” Chloe immediately closes all the tabs on the computer, “I'm here in the office, Ram.” She hears his footsteps approaching. She swings the chair to face him, smiling at her boyfriend. Ramsay steps towards her and she instantly extends her arms like a mother for him to enter her embrace.

“How was work?”

“Complying. I never thought I'd get to work with someone competent like me. Hailing from the north of the country. But all they raved about in the office is how they will celebrate Father's day, treating their husbands to restaurants, massage therapy sessions, or how they will host a beer party.

Chloe opens her eyes instantly. Ramsay knows about that day. But is he expecting? Would he want to get the same treatment as well?

“Well what do you want to do tomorrow? Do you want me to reserve us a table at your favorite sushi restaurant? I found that they will be discounting customer's fees.”

Ramsay shakes his head. Chloe pulls away in question of his response. “You don't want that? Maybe book you a massage therapy session, lately you have been raving that lower back.”

Ramsay grabs hold of her cheeks…calmly. “I don't need you to spend anything. I don't even expect you to lavishly spend this once in a year celebration. Honestly, I don't care about tomorrow. Just want to spend my Sunday with you, and all my days.”

Ramsay meant all those words purely out of love. Interpretation becomes different for both parties.

“I love you, Sage. My best woman.”

Later that night, Ramsay pulled some orgasms out of Chloe, basking in the glory of her cunt. What seemed different is that he did not fall asleep immediately, but he pulled her close to his chest and hugged her tightly, as if it was a one night stand and she'll leave in the morning. Chloe glorified herself in his lock as he caressed her arm wrapped around his waist that he himself put. Even if Ramsay had already stopped caressing her arm, there are some instances where he awakens and continues doing so. Chloe cannot sleep properly. When she closed her eyes, ideas of Father's Day and the words he let out engulfed her mind that brought a heavy feeling to her stomach.

Chloe's rocky and whirlwind relationship with her dad provided her an attitude of wanting dominance and being treated like a princess. It gave her a viewpoint that acts of service as a love language is better than voicing out feelings. Words are so hard to grasp that saying it out intentionally gives a feeling of cringeness. But Ramsay is not her dad, he is Danielle's dad, and her boyfriend. Must she reconcile with her dad first before she can even wake up to greet Ramsay “Happy Father's Day, my love.” Must she wait for the perfect time? They say all good things come to those who wait. So, Chloe must wait for all eternity then, doesn't she have to work for it, somehow?

When morning came, Ramsay felt a furry thing beside him. When he opened his eyes, only the long pillow shaped like a cat shared his embrace. He pushes the pillow beside him in a jerk and sits up on the bed. “Sage?”

Sage picks up his voice from the bathtub. He has awakened. “I'm in the tub!”

Ramsay's head perks by the voice coming from the bathroom. He continues to scroll the company group chat, members sending messages—photos, GIFs of appreciation for the pillars of the home, the fathers. Most of the members are old and send flooding likes.

Chloe exits the bathroom and meets Ramsay leaning on the headboard with his hands behind his head, showing his naked torso. She pulls out a drawer to grab some underclothing, not noticing Ramsay eyeing her thighs.

“Sage?” Ramsay nonchalantly calls her.

Chloe turns her head to face his contemplating face, “We're having a short get-together to celebrate Father's Day. I have to go because it's mandated, but you can always come. Ramsay leans to press a kiss on her lips but Chloe pulls away. “So when I offered you to celebrate it, you disagreed but when they said it, you'd follow them.”

“I can't simply just say no, you know those cunts always gotta voice out a rumor after. I can always spend it with you in the evenings.” Ramsay grazes his rough fingertips on her chest. Chloe pulls away and stands to leave. She instantly grabs her towel and steps out the bed, wrapping the towel around her.

“Where are you going?”

“You know what? Go spend your precious time with them cunts and leave me here. I wanted the meaning of this day to change somehow for all the years I have avoided it. I wanted to give Danielle a feeling that she'll always look forward to this day to make it even more special.”

Ramsay stands and takes his leave to follow her into the bedroom, dismissing the bubbles and soap on his body. “Sage!”

He finds her standing in the middle of the room facing the bed, as if waiting for him to catch her.

“You did not leave or even slam the door on me.” He remarks

“Father's Day is a day I can never face. Me and my brothers regard it as a normal day. Our dad never cared… truly. Dad made sure to pull us one-by-one with his metal leash, interrogate us like we were inmates ourselves, and accuse us of false and irrational things concerning our love life and academics. He never cared…truly. When one of us got hurt or one of us hurt another, there was no love in his words, only condescending ones and words made for comparison. He never expressed his love clearly. It was all about him and him alone. It was all he thought about and less about his children. Selfish, gluttonous, and a condescending man who delighted in the company of his colleagues rather than his family.”

Ramsay knew that her father, Rafael delighted in statues of human plagues but never pushed far to personal topics. Chloe turns around. “Ramsay, I wanted to change this day for us because it's just me, you, and Danielle against the world. How can we thrive when our family is like this? Danielle no longer sees you on the regular for I fear something in you will take over. Danielle misses you and I cannot let ruin her view on you.”

Ramsay looks at his hand and peers at the ring on his finger that symbolizes how she is the only woman who he dares look upon.

“Ram, please stay and let us celebrate this day differently. Yesterday, I was surprised to know that you didn't care about today and I was hurt and confused because it showed how you didn't matter.”

Chloe begs.

Chloe scrolls her newsfeed and observes her friends celebrating their fathers as pillar of the home. When she looks at her dad, she cannot even say the words because he doesn't act like a dad.

Ramsay finds Chloe crying when she doesn't hear his answer. She feels life has given up on her and that she'll never have a good Father's Day, and the days worth celebrating. When she was a kid, she dreamt that she would change the meaning of these days, different from how she grew up. If Ramsay cannot work with her, it's better for her to leave. A person will find it hard to achieve their goals when those who surround them don't see it the same worth achieving.

“I'll stay.”
