yo dunno if you've been asked this question before or not (sorry if you have) but where'd you get your tumblr theme? and are the colors customizable or at least have theme variants (like royale or maybe royale noir, but i honestly have never been able to find anything for the latter)??

Hey, I'm always open for questions like that! So, when you say theme, there are a couple different possibilities you might be referring to: either the colors of a basic tumblr blog (the small popup window you see via Tumblr directly) or the desktop site you receive automatically upon acquiring a URL. You should get everything you need for the in-site customization when you first make a tumblr blog--and I'm most familiar with this on desktop, so forgive me for not providing details on mobile--but anyway, it would be discoverable through your blog editor in the same place you go to edit your description, title, pfp, etc. As for my desktop blog, this was made using customizable HTML (hypertext markup language), or a basic programming language for websites used in tandem with CSS (cascading style sheets). There is also a section of JavaScript on my blog which is for the sparkles that follow the cursor on my page. All three of these languages can be used to make your blog virtually whatever you want, but considering the question, I'll operate on the basis that you don't know how to code. How can you get a customizable theme?

Follow these simple directions:

go to settings

select your blog on the right sidebar (should look like this but with your blogs instead of mine)

scroll until you see this setting

if not enabled, enable custom theme

click edit theme

At this point, you should see an editor much like this, but with your desktop site, which is likely going to be a generic model.

I will be proceeding in this guide assuming that you don't know HTML. To get a custom theme, select the icon on the left sidebar that says browse themes.

You will then see the sidebar change to feature Tumblr's generic theme and probably one or two paid ones. Look to the bottom of the sidebar to find this fun lil guy:

Then do me a favor and select it.

On the new page that pops up, you should be able to find hundreds and hundreds of themes made both by professionals and amateur programmers, some of them with price tags, but plenty of others totally free! To install a theme onto your blog, first find one that fits your tastes about right. Don't fret too much about colors and images, because the vast majority of themes will allow you to customize that--you just need the computer to know where to put things. Let's take a look at some of the featured selections here.

Let's say you want to try the first theme! Select it so this window pops up on your computer.

Preview and install do exactly what it says on the tin. For now, let's scroll down a little bit to check this theme's stats...

Take a look at all of this stuff to make sure that it does what you like, and make sure that you understand what you're signing up for. It's totally reversible in the sense that you can install the generic theme again at any time, but remember that whatever theme you already have WILL change when you install this. Always check for accessibility features as well! Depending on your needs, you might need to know if the programmer whose code you're borrowing has put any flashing lights or gifs in the layout before you download. Better safe than sorry.

Once you've decided on a theme, go ahead and click install.

It shouldn't take long afterwards for your blog to finish rearranging itself. Once it's finished, mosey over to your desktop site to check out how it's changed!

Most themes that you can download will include their own customization options that you can find using the same method we used earlier to open up this part of the blog editor:

Just use the left sidebar to make any changes you might want to make to your theme in there. The theme description should've listed everything you can customize before downloading, and it'll all be right there in that menu! Most themes will let you change the color, images, backgrounds, links, music, or any other custom features to your heart's content through those controls. And if you're still unsatisfied, you can open up your blog's HTML file by clicking the edit HTML tab at the top of the left sidebar. Make sure you read some basic guides on code insertion if you do, though. It can be a little tricky to reverse garbage code if you put it in the wrong place.

I am terrible at remembering names and faces IRL, and the internet is NOT helping, with people changing their "name"/url and "face"/icon every so often :')

I do my best to take little notes whenever I interact with someone new (with their name, pronouns, main muses etc), but sometimes I don't check the notes for ages and chaos ensues. I've once messaged someone with plots that were about muses who simply aren't theirs... all because their pen names were two letters apart. Big OOPS.]]

[[ I like angst a little too much... so whenever there's a thread that really pulls at the emotional strings (mostly with action/violence, but not necessarily), there's a HIGH chance I'll be hyperfocusing on that.

I know that I tend to gear all my thoughts and plots around angst, and I assume it gets tiring at times and I'm very sorry about it ;-; I'm still learning to be better at learning to tell what my partners want, though as always, communication is the key with me. I'll be a LOT happier if I'm told clearly that someone isn't interested in writing X type of content right now, rather than end up being pushy with reminders and such because I just don't know where we're at right now.

So tl;dr -> I value honesty above all else! RP has to be fun for both partners, or else it's just not worth it. It's a hobby, not a job, and you should never force yourself. ]]

Why did you choose your url?

My Tumblr account is supposed to be an English version of Los Sims de Ana, my Spanish blog in Blogger.

How long have you’ve been on Tumblr?

I started it in August, 2013. That’s almost 9 years, but I was inactive from April 2015 to February 2017.

I'm afraid I don't know what a queue tag is, lol.

Why did you start your blog in the first place?

I wanted to have a blog in English, plus I noticed that Tumblr had a very lively TS3  community, so here I am. 😊

Why did you choose your icon/pfp?

My icon is a pic of Tony and Cassandra, from my Island Paradise story/gameplay. I chose them because they’re my favorite sim couple ever. <3

Why did you choose your header?

I have a pic of Sunset Valley as a header now, but I try to change it often. I use pics of Oasis Landing, Island Paradise and Hidden Springs as well. Those are the four worlds where my present stories take place.

What’s your post with the most notes?

No idea, but it’s probably one about Dale and Kelly, from my The Cho Brothers gameplay.

How many mutuals do you have?

I would tell you if I knew where to check that. For me mutuals are the simmers I truly interact with, you know, the ones that comment on my posts and I comment on theirs. I don’t have many, probably ten or less.

How many followers do you have?

255 after the latest Tumblr purge. (I wish I had more, but I admit I’m not the queen of social skills).

526 last time I checked.

I don’t think so.

Did you have a fight/argument with another blog once?

I would say yes, twice. Neither of the two happened here on Tumblr.

The first one happened on a Sims 2 forum where I used to be, it wasn't a fight as such but a heated argument. I clarify that I wasn't the one who got in trouble, rather I was defending a friend who had a problem with the admins. We couldn't come to an understanding and they took away my Artist badge, (a symbolic distinction given to some members). I took down my pics and stories and I left the forums. No one won, we all lost because we couldn't sort our disagreements.

The second one we could call a fight, small but it was, it happened in Twitter when I tried to open an account of Los Sims de Ana on that platform. As soon as I started it, another simmer came out to say that the account name was already hers, that I had copied it or something like that. I was shocked!  Yes, our names were similar, they were only different in one letter, but not the same, we were definitely not clones. No one won, I guess, cause in the end each one kept her own name. From my side there are no hard feelings, it was an unpleasant moment and somehow scary, but now everything is fine for both of us-- I hope.

Sorry I don’t give more details but these are painful memories that still hurt a bit. I don't like fights, much less over a game.

How do you feel about ‘you need to reblog this’ posts?

I don't reblog out of obligation, especially if it's about political stances or anything to do with delicate topics, my blog is only about The Sims 3. I sometimes reblog (voluntarily) posts from other simmers mostly of custom content that might interest or be useful to any of my mutuals. But that's about it.

Do you like tag games?

Yes I do! But sometimes I don't have enough time to answer them. Plus I get a little anxious talking personal stuff. 😅

Which of your mutuals do you think is Tumblr famous?

Hmm, fame is a tricky thing nowadays. Anybody can be famous in the internet. I think ‘fame’ in Simblr is more like popularity and has to do with certain skills like editing pics or creating custom content. In any case, I have my own ‘famous’ simmers among my mutuals, mostly writers and story tellers whose work I admire and love. They're my favorites and they're certainly famous for me. 💚

Do you have a crush on a mutual?

Not exactly on a mutual, but on their stories and/or their characters, writing, pictures, creations, etc. They're a few, all of them very talented. I’m not going to name names, but I think they know who they are. 😉

Why did you choose your URL?

My first name is Haleigh, and "sloth" is a play on words I guess. It's very close to my actual last name lol

Any side blogs?

One that was mostly a name saving blog. Haleigh-goth lol. I was gonna use it for halloween but I don't feel like going through the trouble of changing my main URL. I think if I can travel more starting in November like I plan to, I may make it into a travel blog to just keep my pictures and videos.

Oof. I was in 9th grade soooo 2011. With a decent break ranging from 2016/17 to last November, 2020.

I started it in 9th grade basically to nerd out. I was into manga and anime and it's what me and my best friends used to express that interest.

I use drawings for my icon to have a unique one that nobody else will have. Even before BNHA. Shigaraki because he's my favorite.

Why did you choose your header?

Again, same reason. It's a drawing. And it's Midoriya and Shigaraki because I love them both, they're my favorite part of the story, and I can't wait for their conclusion.

A post with the panel of Touya ripping at his hair from the spoilers. From waaaay back when 300 came out and we got that glimpse of stressed little Touya.

I have no idea, but not too many. I like it that way.

Oof more than I'm proud of. It passes time when work is dead, it's my "me time" at night after work before bed. So I guess at least two hours of interacting with the website each day.

I think I've argued once or twice. Back when I was just getting into the fandom on here for BNHA. Then I quickly realized that there's only like, 40 or so blogs worth talking to lmao, and that arguing is dumb. I'm gonna post and say what I want, and I encourage other people to do the same on their own blog instead of arguing. Asks prompting discussions are different, but straight up arguing back and forth is dumb.

How do you feel about “you need to reblog this posts”

I ignore them. Half the time I check the comments and the info on the post is faulty, or I just don't find it actually helpful to reblog a fucking post to help a cause.

- Why did you choose your url?

Mh... So, my real first and also second name translated into English means “Ocean“ and I always liked Japanese names, so when I read about the names Nami and Nanami, I loved them a lot and they are water-related names, which is why I chose Nanami. Flower field because I love flowers a lot! ❤️ And also because I write FanFics... You see, there are many different characters in games and anime etc and also in real life! So to me, they all are like flowers, because there are no flowers who look the same. Every flower has different petals and colors, even if both are (for example) roses or dandelions! So every character I‘m writing for and every (y/n) and reader, are different than others. They are all lovely and wonderful and if you put many flowers together, you have a sweet bouquet or a flower field! Which is why I chose that name!❤️

- Any side blogs?

Uhhh... No, I guess. I still have two other ones. One, which is my spam tumblr acc, which I don‘t use anymore and the other one is my first writer tumblr blog, which I also don‘t use anymore...

- Why did you start your blog in the first place?

When I was younger, I started to write many FanFics for Fandoms like Marvel, DC Comics, Black Butler and One Piece but then I had a big writers block... I had my exams and also some friends, who wanted to have those rpg blogs and then I got busy. But then, one day, I started to throw all my rpg blogs and older writing blogs away to have a fresh start and to write for the fandoms that still makes me happy and motivated!

- Why did you choose your icon?

Well... I guess, because I like it? I did it myself! Pink because it matches with the background. Then there are cherry blossoms (my favorites). And them the characters I like.

The first one was Sakuya Sakuma, then I had Ruggie Bucchi and Rook Hunt on them. Now Leona Kingscholar. Who knows... Maybe in some months I have a new one?

- Why did you choose your header?

I love flowers. Cherry blossoms are my favorite. Then comes hydrangea and then wisteria! I love them a lot and all the other flowers! (But maybe I will change it one day) and I also love gifs a lot, which is why I chose that one!

- What’s your post with the most notes?

The Octavinelle and Jamil reaction of “their s/o is returning“-request! A lovely one and also one of my favorites, because it‘s so fluffy!!! ✨

Mh... Like 4 times a day? Just clicking in, scrolling around a bit, smiling like a dork, when people write me or like my fics and that‘s all...

- Did you have a fight/argument with a blog once?

Not really? It was more a thing that happened during my first year writing fanfics, when I was 14 years old (man... that was like ages ago!)

Back then, I used to write character x character and ONLY the canon ships, but people started to argue during my comment sections below and it made me sad to see people having a fight rather then them liking my stuff and talking about it. When I gave it up and started to write character x my OC, people told me that my OCs would never fit with the characters and I was very upset... Started writing character x reader then and I will never stop doing it! But all in all, I never used to have an argument or a fight with other people!

- How do you feel about “you need to reblog this post”?

I really like to reblog stuff and know that a few people would appreciate it! Back then, I did it often with my older blogs but now I‘m getting a bit lazy... I‘M REALLY SORRY!!! But I reblog a few things here and there! Especially the requests I gave other ones or like birthday fanfic presents I‘ve got when I was younger!

Can you please make a tutorial on how you make your pixel art gifs (love them and btw love your new url too, can't wait for my engineer season 2) ❤️

Hi, here’s a rough tutorial on how to make them:

1. select a gif to make them - preferably, one with very little movement and one where the number of frames doesn’t matter 

2. find a pixel art from the internet (i just google transparent pixel art / stars transparent pixel art, etc...)

3. here’s the base gif - i selected intouch sleeping:

4. i have this pink gif of hearts and other stuff flying up, my idea is to put it coming up from him in the background wall (so the table and the food arent covered). heres the raw gif from the internet

5. group the frames and the coloring so it’s easy to ignore

6. here’s where it gets technical....

The gif of intouch has 61 frames, and my standard timing is 0.06s The gif of the pixel art has 24 frames and the original timing is 0.12s

Here’s what it would look like if you just paste it as is (:

It becomes fast because the pixel art gif will follow the timing of 0.06s (i didn’t bother with resizing and the frame numbers, and other stuff for now, just wanted to show the timing problem here)

i can set the timing of intouch sleeping to 0.12 so the pixel art will move slower, but for some gifs you can’t do that, so it has to be the other way around, we have to make the pixel art adjust

7.  basically, what to do is copy each frame, so from 24 frames it will be 48. select frame 1 then press new frame. The frame 1 copy will be inserted after as frame 2, but it will have the same image as frame 1. kind of like this:

original gif: frame 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6... adjusted gif: frame 1, copy 1, 2, copy 2, 3, copy 3...

it’s boring work i admit, but just click on frame 1, then press New Frame, then click frame 3 (frame 3 was originally frame 2, but the frame 1 copy is now frame 2), press New Frame, etc. basically, just ignore all even frames and select new frame on the odd ones

8. Now I have 48 frames. But the gif of intouch has 61 frames. I can cut intouch gif to 48, but i would rather do this: select all frames from 1 to 48, then copy frames, paste frames (Paste after selection) so it will now be 96 frames. 

Then save it as a new gif. so all the layers will correspond accordingly.

You only have to do this once for each pixel art. Since you saved it as a new gif, the next time you’re going to use the pixel art, you can automatically just go straight to the next part:

9. open the new gif, select frame 1 to 61, go to intouch gif, select frames 1 to 61 , paste frames (paste over selection). 

10. the pixel art doens’t cover it all. i don’t want to enlarge it, because i can just paste another set to cover the remaining area.

below, you can see i grouped it already, hearts 1 group covers the area shown below, hearts 2 covers the remaining right side. i don’t have to resize it, bc i don’t plan to cover the table and the food anyway

11. IMPORTANT: in some cases, you have to resize them, if you are going to paste more than 1 set, resize the first one accordingly, then take note of the percentage resizing so you can apply the same size to the second set you will paste. 

IMPORTANT 2: in some cases, you will have to rotate the image. i suggest resize it first to roughly the size you want, then slowly rotate it. if it doens’t fit, undo and rotate again. This is because the pixel art boundaries (shown in the previous image) change when you rotate the gif so it will now include more area

here’s another way of thinking it: the gif below has stars coming diagonally from the upper right to the lower left. If I slowly rotate it, i can match the upper right corner (where the stars are coming from) to where I want to place it 

12. i grouped both hearts 1 and hearts 2 into a bigger group

13. Now for layer mask: select the lasso tool, and check feather 5 pixel, and draw the outline of intouch sleeping then right click select inverse

14. select the hearts group, then click the layer mask icon below:

15. it should look like this:

the black area is where the pixel art doesn’t appear, the white area is where is appears.

16. pray it works. and here is the final product:

EXTRA: 

For the image below, i set one layer mask for each frame. this was okay to do (it was only 20 frames). This is also an example of keeping the original gif timing

For my bb phukong, i wanted the stars to come from his hands, so i rotated each image from the original pixel art so that the upper right box corner fits with his hand (if you rotate afterwards, the box thingy will change and you can no longer find the upper right box im talking about). it’s hard to explain sorry..

There you have it! i hope this helps, and you can always ask for advice and stuff. There are endless combinations you can come up with! 

Once you get the hang of it, it will be easy, I can now do this while watching something in the background. Plus, you only need to do the copy frame method once for that pixel art, the next time you use the pixel art, you can easily just paste frames

10 Dramas I Liked This Year

thank you to @hunginggrapes for tagging me! idk if this means dramas that i watched this year or that came out this year, so i decided to do the latter and only include completed ones! also, these are in no particular order. alright, here we go!

1. 30sai Made Dotei Dato Mahotsukai Ni Narerurashii

okay, i'm already making an exception to my completed 2020 dramas rule, abdkdgsk. but cherry magic ends tomorrow so close enough!! i love this drama, it has easily become my favorite one (and that's a very hard thing for me to decide, i'm hella indecisive). it's the perfect combination of fantasy and reality, with really good themes, fantastic acting, and high quality writing. it's one of the few bl dramas with no problematic elements and that actually depicts healthy relationships! i hold so much love for it.

2. I Told Sunset About You

what can i say about this one besides Wow. it was absolutely amazing. the characterization was fantastic, i felt like all the characters, even the minor ones, were complex and well thought out. itsay was also very artistic, the cinematography and locations were very impressive, as well as the acting. it felt so incredibly authentic and wonderfully portrayed some aspects of the queer experience.

3. Gaya Sa Pelikula

this one is very much on the same level as itsay in terms of authenticity, writing, production, and portrayal of the queer experience. juan miguel severo is an amazing playwright, jp habac is a great director, and pangpang are great actors. the fact that queer people worked on it was really apparent. it made me feel seen and seemed to tell me that everything was okay. the central message of the series was “we deserve a great love story”, along with other life experiences sometimes robbed from queer people. i recommend this show to everyone i can and talk about it a lot. it holds a very special place in my heart.

4. Oxygen

y’all know i love oxygen, especially sologui. so much so that i changed my url to sologui during its run. the fact that both protagonists were equally interested in each other from the start and were both very kind was a really nice and, quite frankly, refreshing thing to see. i also really liked that there was none of that “but we’re two men” “i don’t like men, i like him” bullshit. it was a very sweet show and a weekly serotonin boost i looked forward to.

5. 2gether / Still 2gether

i mean, obviously i have to include 2gether. it was so good! i weirdly don’t remember much from 2gether in detail, so i’m going to talk about still 2gether. it was so domestic and so sweet and everything i love. sarawatine are a very cute couple, especially since brightwin have great chemistry. it felt very warm and it made me laugh and smile the whole time. 2gether/still2gether honestly changed me and my standards for shows. and it’s the reason why i joined this fandom. i had seen many asian dramas and bls, but it wasn’t until 2gether that i got into the community around them.

6. My Engineer

some say that having four couples is too much, but i loved it! i was so invested in all of the storylines and thoroughly enjoyed them all. the romance was very sweet and it impressed me with how they handled some things, like the episode where they unlearn heteronormative relationship roles. i also really liked how focused on friendship this drama was. i am a huge fan of found family and my engineer did that very well. i especially liked how the two friend groups merged together and had so much complexity. my engineer twas *chef’s kiss*

7. Why R U

dang, i can not believe this was this year. seems so long ago. what to say about why r u? saifahzon were very cute, their interactions were very tender. as for torfight, wrow. i’m an ace lesbian so their scenes were a Bit Much for me, but i can’t deny that they were iconic as hell. their chemistry and tension was very well done. 

8. YYY

oh, this crackhead show. i love it very much. it’s very funny and makes no sense and has a wonderful found family theme. i really don’t know what else to say about it because it’s so wild and i honestly don’t really know what i watched, abdkfgs. i just know that it’s very good and made me feel v happy.

9. Where Your Eyes Linger / Mr. Heart / Wish You

yes, these are three shows. but they’re made by the same people, all very short, and really just cut up movies. each one has something different that i like, so i don’t really know which one i enjoyed the best. wyel had great cinematography and a very compelling story. mr. heart was heartwarming (pun intended) and sweet. and wish you so far is also sweet and has a great soundtrack. i really enjoyed them, even if they were short and a bit weirdly paced. (the pacing is a lot better if you watch them as movies)

10. Gameboys / Hello, Stranger

sorry to group more shows together, but these two are very similar and i can’t decide which one i enjoyed more. they were both filmed mostly remotely during lockdown, which was so impressive. despite this, the production value was pretty good. the plotlines weren’t anything extraordinary, but they were very cute and very well executed. the acting was great, especially considering it was all over video calls! the soundtracks are also really good, i really liked the arrangement of kahit na along sabihin ng iba that jc and tony sang together. i’ve been listening to it on repeat all day.
