Chapter 11- Part 9

Well, that’s good for Xera, because right now she has a grand total of…zero Stickers!

Oh, I stand corrected- she has a grand total of one (1) Sticker!

Now, these vendors here- they’re probably gonna sell the general things, right? Potions, Poké Balls, etc.?

Yup, looks normal so far. Though- more expensive Common Candies versus cheaper PokéSnax…interesting dynamic. But I’ll take somewhat cheaper PokéSnax any day! Now, for the other desk-

Oh, even better! We’ve finally got access to the other status-healing items (although I guess we technically already did via the Sweet Kiss candies)!

I did end up buying a few things after all- mostly healing stuff, still not spending a ton of money because we’re still a little poor. 

So now, there isn’t much else up on this part of Obsidia Ward aside from the way to Onyx Ward, but we’re still not going there yet! Before we move on to the next ward, before we end this chapter, we’re returning to a certain somewhere…

The Underground Railnet! I avoided this place like the plague initially because I was a little spooked by it (the music didn’t help), but now…I think we’re ready to see what it’s all about!

Or…we would, if there wasn’t this gate in the way?

There was a gate here the entire time?? So I couldn’t have gone further this way back then anyways??

The Escape Rope is nice, but…we’re not gonna get much further with that big ol’ wall of metal there. I see a switch on the other side, so we’re probably gonna have to go around. I have an idea of where to go instead, so let’s- 

Oh, you can encounter wild Pokémon down here, cool-

Wait wait wait- a Noibat? You can get Noibat down here? That’s- That’s super good! I want that, actually, holy heck!

But we need to be careful- there was more flavor text at the start here. Something like “The cave echoes dully”? So this is yet another new Field Effect, whatever it is. Man, I was just getting used to the foresty one!

Whatever it is, we need to lower Noibat’s HP somewhat no matter what. Whiskers’ attacks aren’t really doing it, but Breeze’s Quick Attack does very well! And then Noibat uses Gust, and this happens-

…Whatever that means? Did it make Gust stronger? Or maybe weaker? Something about Flying-type attacks, possibly? Doesn’t matter, Breeze barely takes damage anyways and we’re switching into Glare, but it just…makes me curious.

Anyways, Paralysis be upon ye-

And now- well, I’m not gonna risk a Noibat on just a regular Poké Ball, we’re pulling out the Great Ball for this!

Yeah, I think Soundwave is a decent enough name for a Noibat, yeah? (Future edit: Wrong, I came up with a better name after this play session. Guess who’s gonna be visiting the Name Rater in the next chapter?)

Man, early-game Dragon-type, this is gonna be great! But now, let’s turn our attention to trying to find another way into the Underground Railnet…

I know there’s another way from Opal Ward, I think, through some train tunnel, but…I don’t actually know where that is. Is it…up the bridge, maybe? I never looked at that area too closely, so maybe I missed-

Oh- HEY! YOU’RE NOT A TRAIN TUNNEL! OUTTA MY WAY!

This is barely even worth my time, I’m just trying to explore, come on-

Even more beneath me! Begone!!

Tell me some facts about Noibat, Sound Wave Pokémon

The Pokédex entry for Sound Wave explains that it is made out of steel, has a clock-like appearance and emits soundwaves. (As does its evolution, Noibat.)

Noibat is known as the "puzzle maker." It can create new puzzle structures out of its own steel-like body.

Encanto in Pokémon

This is my interpretation on what the Madrigal Family's Pokémon Teams would be, Abuela Alma, Bruno, Pepa, Delores, Camilo, Antonio, Julieta, Isabela, Luisa and Mirabel. As we don't know much about Félix or Agustín, I don't have teams for them (that and I can only post 10 pictures on here) Spoilers for Encanto under the cut

Abuela Alma Madrigal

A long time ago, when Alma and Pedro tried to escape their village, a small Litwick joined their journey, settling in between Alma's children. However, when Pedro was unfortunately taken from them, the Litwick shone brighter, its flames burning higher and blessing Alma and her family, creating their Casita. After the Encanto had been created, a trio of butterfly Pokémon kept close to Alma, one to represent one of her children. After the events of Encanto, losing the miracle and Casita...unfortunately, Chandelure's flames died out, and Alma lost her closest friend. Butterfree, Beautifly and Vivilion knew it hurt, and helped as much as she could.

Pepa Madrigal

Once blessed with her gift, Castform attached itself to Pepa's side. it floated around her always, changing to represent Pepa's changing moods. Alma, seeing her daughter's sadness at not being able to controll her emotions, found Pelipper and Torkoal with weather changing abilities to help regulate the weather around Pepa. When Pepa was sad, Torkoal would clear the day, if Pepa was unable to bring rain to hot days, Pelipper would bring said rain.

Julieta Madrigal

When Julieta received her gift, Julieta found it hard to help everyone in the Encanto by herself. Yes, she was able to cook everything that people needed, but at such a young age, she couldn't go out to give her treats to the people. She happened across Chansey who shared her love for helping others and caring for them. Audino came to her, unable to ignore the sounds of physical pain, and lead Julieta to those in pain. She a Jigglypuff at a young age, and the round Pokémon loved to help comfort those in pain. It evolved when a full moon descended on the Encanto.

Bruno Madrigal

Being able to see the future, Bruno felt like the world was on his shoulders, seeing the future was a heavy weight to bear. Xatu appeared soon after, being able to see the future itself, Xatu knew it had to stay by Bruno's side. After the events of Mirabel's Gift Ceremony, and when Bruno escaped to the walls of Casita, he befriended the Rattata that lived alongside them.

Delores Madrigal

When Delores acquired her gift, she found it difficult to block out all the voices. She was too young, Pepa and Félix found a Noibat to help her. Due to Noibat's ability to control soundwaves, it helped with keeping the noise out of her ears. Azumaril was in the same position as Delores, unable to block out all of the voices. Delores felt sympathy for the Pokémon and took it in, having her now Noivern help block out the sounds. When Delores took up dancing, she was fascinated by a group of Baile Style Oricorio. She learned how to dance from them. One grew attached to Delores, and stayed by her side.

Camilo Madrigal

Being new to his gift, Camilo was unable to control his abilities. Pepa and Félix went around to try and find Pokémon to help him. Camilo's parents found Ditto first, to help him choose what to change into. When they realised that Camilo copied his Ditto's face mannerisms, Pepa and Félix found Camilo a Zoroua who was able to more easily help him master his Gift. Kecleon found itself in the Madrigal house and attached itself to Camilo, the two of them bonding over their abilities.

Antonio Madrigal

Antonio only recently got his gift. As such, his Pokémon havent evolved yet. When Casita gave him his door, Chatot and Meowth were the first Pokémon to greet him and helped him discover his abilities to talk to Pokémon. After the events of Encanto, Antonio didn't want his family to go through that stress again. He saw what happend to Casita when emitons ran wild, and saught out a Pokémon to help the family and came across Ralts. He hops to evolve him into a Gardivior in the future.

Isabela Madrigal

When Isabela got her gift, a Flabébé and Budew started following her around. She nurtured those Pokémon as she did her flowers, making sure that the two became two gorgeous Pokémon that her family could be proud of. After her time with Mirabel and gaining more confidence in herself and her Gift, she found Maractus and took her in, much to the surprise of her family, but they grew to love Maractus.

Luisa Madrigal

Much like Isabela, when Luisa got her gift, a Machop and Makuhita gravitated towards her. And, just like Isabela, she trained her Pokémon to be the strongest Fighting Types in Encanto. They help her with her chores, Machamp's four arms are very helpful in rounding up the donkeys. As Casita was being rebuilt, found Sobble among the rubble and took it in. For the two of them, there's nothing better than sitting in Luisa's room and crying let it all out.

Mirabel Madrigal

Last but not least, Mirabel. After her failed Gift Ceremony, Mirabel locked herself in the nursery, not wanting to leave and face her family. As she hid under her bed, Eevee snuck through the window, and comforted the young girl. Mirabel took Eevee in and the two became best friends. When Mirabel was old enough to learn to sew, she taught out Leavanny to help her, who happily accepted and joined her team. The final Pokémon to join Mirabel was Litwick. After Casita was rebuilt, Mirabel put the doorknob in and reignited the miracle, giving birth to another Litwick to help carry on the miracle that Alma was blessed with all those years ago.

Hey, wanna hear about a terrible decision that German Translators did?

You know these two pokemon, Noibat and it's evolution, Noivern, right?

Because they are described as "Soundwave-Pokemon" they're Names are put together from Noisy and Bat.

Some Languages made same Kind of Puns with Noise or Sound, or they would just keep the English Name.

The German Translators wanted to make their own pun for Noibats/Noiverns name.

And now I want you guys to guess what puns someone could make with German words Like

"Geräusch" (Noise)

"Fledermaus" (Bat)

"Signalwelle" (Soundwave) or

"Laut" (Loud)

Thought of something? Anything? Something that you could kinda pronounce?

Well then keep that in Mind, because here's the Name that the Translators decided.

So you know how Radios work, right? Exactly, with Soundwaves. And you know what else a Radio has? Canals.

Stiff like EM, FM, e.t.c.

So they tried to make a Name out of that.

What the Fuck were they thinking? Those are Names that someone gives an SCP, not to a Pokemon. Do you known how hard it is to pronounce UHaFnir? I just say it like Uh-a-F-nir.

Who decided to put this into the game like that.

What would you say is the easiest dragon type to raise?

Personality-wise, the goomy line is usually very easygoing, and doesn’t require much more than water, vegetables, and some exercise every day. Jangmo-o are also fairly easygoing and are not difficult to care for, but tend to become less so on both counts after evolution. Noibats and noiverns are easy to feed and house, but while they are usually not aggressive pokémon in the slightest, they can do damage with their soundwaves and are often regarded by neighbours as a nuisance. Lastly, drampas are also generally unaggressive and calm, but can be very destructive when they are angered. 

So in the end, I’d have to say goomies.

Hi! I’m going to give you a full team, since I thought of multiple Pokemon pretty quickly!

♡ Minior reminds me of you, symbolically! It has a plain, dark exterior. But its core is bright & colorful! Just be careful to not leave it outside of its pokeball without its shell for too long!

♡ Noibat is a cute purple bat! Its favorite food is fruit & it can emit very strong soundwaves. Its friendly, but somewhat timid.

♡ Wynaut is an odd Pokemon! It has goofy mannerisms.This Pokemon shares the same love for fruit that Noibat has! It has a bright & friendly personality. It never attacks, only counters the attacks of others. This Pokemon would be the baby of the team & will need extra care. 

♡ Pumpkaboo is thought to guide spirits of the dead to where they belong at night. It becomes very active around dusk. It has quite a spooky lore, being a huge part of the Pokemon-World Halloween holiday. But its personality is not as scary as old folk tales would have you believe. Besides being a ghost/grass, it can also learn fire-type attacks thanks to the natual flame it burns within its body!

♡ Gothita is a Pokemon that does a lot of observation. It apparently sees something no one else can see. It can become a little obsessed & disconnected from its surroundings in return. But besides this, this Pokemon has a big personality! It can be very charming, but be sure to not spoil Gothita too much, or it will start thinking its the top of the pecking order, and not you! It bonds very intensely with its trainer, nonetheless. 

♡ Houndour is another Pokemon with a spooky reputation & appearance. But it’s an extremely loyal & obedient Pokemon. It will help you in anything it can & will prove to be the most level-headed of your team. It’s also quite intelligent!
