Act 1, and Leshy's relationships with the other Scrybes
There was a post on here a while ago about Leshy outright hating Magnificus more than P03, and one interesting observation was that he cuts the Wolf's stats, but boosts the Stoat's. I think there's more you can gather from Leshy designing around the other Scrybes, though:
GRIMORA:
Leshy seems to be the most amiable with Grimora. Yes, I think this probably comes a bit from the dev finding their aesthetics and gameplay styles easier to pair up, but I think's its also a little bit because she values fun quite strongly, which meshes well with his focus on lore: both things that aren't purely gameplay based unlike the weirder mechanics of the west-side Scrybes.
Similar to Leshy in act 2, none of her puzzles really cause any harm to her subordinates. It's meant to be some fun flavour plot for the player to engage their brains with before the battles. Honestly, the amount of times she says 'Marvelous!' alone should convince you of her priorities (outside of destroying the world!)
Leshy goes out of his way to design a totally new card for Grimora, which doesn't appear anywhere in act 2 or Kaycee's mod.
It's the only one with a sigil on it - it's a fragile card, but it requires more actual strategy than playing the non-sigil Wolf and Stoat.
One line of dialogue remarks that he wishes he had kept Grimora around, as she was at least a worthy challenger.
He says that the Stinkbug is weak, but other than that accepts you having it in your deck. Compare that to him absolutely hating the Stunted Wolf on sight.
If you look closely in the finale, Grimora has an insect crawling across the table in her campaign. I don't know if it's really a stinkbug, persay, but it's an interesting parallel to his choice of her species.
Someone has said before that there are notably more insect cards than any other species in act 1, which also plays into him being closer to her than the others.
Bones are literally the secondary currency in his campaign, whereas energy doesn't appear at all, and sigils are limited to a single map event.
stinkyyyy
MAGNIFICUS:
Between Leshy actively saying he hates Mag's card once you first get it (versus one line about the Stinkbug being weak), and him literally stabbing the guy's eye out, it's safe to say Leshy fucking hates this guy. I've seen different theories on this, between the clashing gameplay and Leshy being kinder to his subordinates, but the one I've thought was the most interesting was that Magnificus is arguably, the most powerful Scrybe.
He's the only one who does have a plan to get Leshy's takeover back to normal, and the other two Scrybes are desperate for you to find him in act 1 because of it. He has future vision, he writes letters to the others warning about potential takeovers, and you never see him scrounge for the OLD_DATA. correction in reblogs: i think it is mentioned that he has
I've always read Leshy's feelings towards Mag as jealousy, mixed with clashing ideologies. I don't think there's a single moment where the two agree on anything outside of act 3.
I don't have much to say on his card, gameplay-wise, as you get it very late. Honestly most of the Stunted Wolf's design is just foreshadowing that Leshy beat this guy up and stabbed out his eye, lmao, but it's still interesting to note that:
The Stunted Wolf is one of those cards that's a variant of another one (i.e. Wolf Cub/Wolf, Mantis God/Mantis), but it's notably the only one whose stats are worse than its predecessor.
At the same time, it only costs one blood, and it's the only 2-attack card to have that. Gameplay wise, this is to balance things out, but it hints towards Magnificus having been much more powerful in the past. Like it makes you ponder how fucking good it would be to start off with a one-blood 3-2 card.
Magnificus's only other gameplay feature in act 1 is the sacrificial alters (given his association with magic and sigils). These are fucking busted. God I wish I could have four sigils on a card in Kaycee's mod.
P03:
Leshy seems to not think very much of P03 (both in the sense of not acknowledging it and thinking it's not a good designer), but doesn't seem completely unwilling to work with him. I'd argue he's not really hostile towards P03, just very aggressively trying to push it into his own ideal of the world.
In Kaycee's mod, Leshy refers to him as a rival and not an enemy, which I think gives a good basis for interpreting how he views it. P03's breakup speech snapping at Leshy in act 2 is ultimately what gets him to question his intentions at all.
The mention that the stoat's suffering was real during the tutorial isn't really ever brought up again by Leshy. It's interesting to think about in hindsight, given that P03 being a robot means its the least likely to have experienced pain out of the four.
Combined with P03's remark that Leshy keeps him around just to suffer, and the later remark in act 2 that he thinks that it is noble to be a beast card, "even one as lowly as a stoat," this implies that Leshy's at the very least trying to get P03 used to his world, and almost hopes that he'll come to like it.
The unbuffed stoat is a really terrible card. All the 1-2 cards have some sort of gimmick to them to make them playable, but the normal stoat just doesn't at all. The buff to 1-3 is a gift from Leshy to P03, despite everything. It implies he at least thinks there's something that can be salvaged between them, in his own view.
And like. The buffed stoat is so so useful in act 1. The extra HP means it can take a hit from so many more cards and it's a solid foundation for basically any run.
The stoat's the only one of the talking cards without an animal family. Of course it is! Nature and technology are usually thematic opposites, especially compared to magic and death. P03 doesn't fit in here, but Leshy is still clearly trying to make it a foundational card in his campaign.

There's A Place
Tumblr media
📍 DEMO (soon)
CONTENT WARNING: Project contains explicit language and sexual content. Viewer discretion is advised.
There's A Place (TAP) is a light-hearted slice-of-life text-based game set in a world where supernatural and non-supernatural beings live in harmony.
Want to check out a werewolf band? Earn a sweet bonus from a location brimming with potential? Hook up with a phoenix who dislikes your company? [Insert other plot logic gaps and coding nightmares]? There's A Place waiting for you…
"With just a tap, find a place that's more than apt"
There's the jingle that greets you at work almost everyday. With a tap, you find yourself moving to Serenia in your mid-20s to work at There's A Place, an event venue agency. Tengus almost losing it as a traffic marshal. Neon-lit diners with lamias serving alongside robot waiters. Werewolves manning beachside services. Nothing's out of the ordinary when you're living in the capital. But you're here to work. And with work comes great challenges, like that pesky sales target seemingly out of grasp. Luckily, there's a friendly (well, mostly) cast of characters to accompany you. Some pursuable, some will pursue you, mostly supernatural. Will you go places with your corporate achievements, new contacts, or both?
Tumblr media
A customizable MC: Choose your species, appearance, and personality.
5 love interests & 3 side interests: Go places with a vampire, tengu, werewolf, mermaid, or witch. With a phoenix, another tengu, and a half-elf possibly dropping by. TAP shall not be responsible or liable for any consequences arising from interest development.
Lots of locations to explore: Upsell, upkeep, upfront full payment please. Discover new locations to make money off. Satisfy your clients with attractive deals. Maybe even explore each other's bodies while you're at it?
A new dev everything 🤡: Just, manage your expectations. Have none!
⚠️ Probably bland and boring, not by design but by ability. Not for those wanting to delve deep into supernatural lore or looking for angst/drama-loaded relationships, sorry. There are plenty of tasty ones out there!
Tumblr media
Alipha Nyseth • 29F, Vampire • Looking for a wedding venue
Known as that gaming influencer with an ash blonde choppy lob, Alipha's well-loved for her humorous gameplays. With how chill and composed she is, one might wonder if she's really related to her siblings. You first met her under the setting sun, warm amber eyes following your every move.
Kaizer Okubo • 25M, Tengu • Looking for a venue for his company's D&D
Kaizer's ever-changing fashion style is a stark contrast to the permanent mischievous glint in his brown eyes. His quick wit and reliable grin earns him high trust with his company. His gaming expertise parallels his love for food, though you may know this from an interrupted dinner.
Maeve Raydon • 26F, Mermaid • Looking for new experiences
Extremely hands-on, be it at work or with friends. With her can-do attitude and attention captured by new ideas every other second, Maeve is a whirlwind of wavy hair and toned muscles. Her upbeat personality is only bested by her bright smile when she had asked for your preference.
Penn Tzeyk • 23NB, Werewolf • Looking for a baby shower venue
When they're not working up a sweat in their trusted athleisure wear, they're uploading a new baking video inspired by a family member. Penn's dark brown skin is often caked with flour and food colouring, a look they're proud of. They shrugged it off when you bumped into them and their cake.
Thaddeus Qerlart • 25M, Witch • Looking for a payrise
Usually described as a hard-ass despite his soft, chubby build, Thaddeus keeps a distance from just about everyone. His cranky mood may be attributed to long hours at work. All he wants is to live comfortably with his loved ones and maybe a cat?
Ages are in human years for most of our understanding.
Tumblr media
the above is subject to changes. a short project to hopefully kickstart everything else. inspired by reddit user Professionalarsonis' writing prompt. some artistic liberties were taken. feedback / thoughts / whatever welcomed :)

Minecraft Worldbuilding Headcanons
-Players & Species
here is 1179 words of minecraft worldbuilding infodump
I would be spending several more hours working on this if I didn't cut it short here, so I might make a second part. But i'm.. kinda in finales week so I died today.
Included in this is references to some Minecraft YouTubers and their world building, namely Watchers, of the 2017 Evo SMP.
Feel free to use this for fics, art, comics, etc.
Includes headcanons for how Players work, are created, and function. Also how disabilities are accommodated!!!
Very simulation-esque. essentially my world building is as if The Sims were aware of what they are and they had access to make themselves god ig . cyber tech. yeah
Devs/Developers
The Devs/Developers are the first. As their world expanded, and the Universe grew, more of them would appear. They create the updates, design the Mobs, and ensure the future of their Universe; features, challenges and goals, for the Players to explore and use and learn from. The asexual creation of new Players. Purpose, for the Players to never get bored. Devs created the Watchers to manage the day-to-day of Players. Watchers fine-tune and teach the Mobs, kinda like playtesters, to give feedback to the Devs.
The Devs determined what is and isn’t a Player, and what qualifies something to be a Player.
There are slips, and with malicious or ignorant intent, someone not given the right to be a Player slip through, as man-made creatures. Non-intended “Players” do not respawn, have Communicators (see: Players), or inventories.
Mob hybrids were added one by one, as they assured they could have a quality of life, and make changes as fit to allow them to be.Older Creeper hybrids may look different from younger ones, for example, as they fine-tune their process to make them have the healthiest, safest and most fulfilling possible life.
Devs rarely spend time with any Players. The ones they do speak with are usually first generation, very old Players.
Watchers
(About Me: Watchers are god-like beings featured in an SMP known as Evo. They filled the role of overseers, and are typically interpreted to be the personification of the two things that speak to you in the End Poem. In the series, they were morally-neutral, punishing Players who did wrong, and awarding others. They put them through tasks and challenges, and led them to a series of portals that would take them through time, to new updates. The series started in the first version of Minecraft that featured servers. Nearly everything wrote is from my own worldbuilding or the fanon of others, as there is very little known about them in canon.)
The Player are made from the Universe, and made of the same code, but Watchers  ARE the Universe. They don't make the Players, but they make the Mobs that roams in each world. They oversee upcoming updates. There are only two Watchers who are the true Universe, the ones we see in Evo SMP, all other Watchers are “hired”/recruited based on their morality, strength, perseverance, or sometimes just sheer entertainment. Sometimes, in a situation of Permadeath, the Players that meet their standards are given the opportunity to expand their life and purpose by becoming a Watcher. They are taught the true Universe, the meaning of it all, and the power to manipulate it into life and love. Watchers can also turn animals into Players, and do so in the scenario that a world is deleted/abandoned by all of it’s occupants.
The head Watchers are the two that speak to you, the Player, during the End Poem. They are a bit disconnected but well-intentioned. They enforce laws, and assign Watchers to every Server and world to ensure it’s safety. The Old Watchers (as I’ll dub them) are god-like, and are the only ones that typically speak with the Devs on a regular basis. Not all Watchers are good. Some are centuries old, Players-turned-Demi-Gods who have watched all they love die or age. As such, their mentality may begin to crumble.
Those who are Watchers, stop aging. They no longer can scar, and all injuries are cured on respawn. The state of their body from before being transformed remains the same. For example, bad vision, scars, and hearing lost remain. Their body is frozen from where they left off. Temporary ailments, such as bags under eyes, scratches, bruises, etc. can still occure.
They have the ability to shapeshift, but it is something that takes effort, and can be blocked by Servers. Watchers can toggle between their Player form, where they left off when they were human, or in a Spectator-like form. Think biblical angel. Thick bird-like wings, that can come in a plethora of numbers.
The state of their Watcher form is determined typically by their mental or emotional state.
Watcher Form
Cool & Collected: One set of wings, long and angular with slick feathers. Appear in the vision of others like a foggy outline in the mist. Eyes covered by a mask.
Stressed & Anxious: One-Three set(s) of wings, feathers bristled and messy. Purple glow around the edge of the mask, and outline of eyes appear around them. Can appear shadow-like.
Angry & Upset: One-Six set(s) of wings, outstretched with a shimmery-crystal like appearance. Halo of eyes around their head. Their real eyes can also be seen glowing underneath the mask. Visual distortion to any that see's them in this state, like a graphical glitch.
Player Form Capabilities
Their eye color is now a hazy purple-gray. Similarly to their Watcher form, experiencing emotions can cause their eyes to turn to a more vibrant purple, and become illuminated.
They can shapeshift their form. If a Player was a hybrid before it's conversion to a Watcher, their traits remain. Their Watcher Form hides these features, and they can also be hidden or altered by their shifting.
Purple wings are always part of them, becoming part of their default form.
Wings can be altered while shapeshifting. Length, width, color, feathers vs scales, etc. are all able to be changed, but they always must remain part of them. Their size can, however, be made small enough to disguise them and appear human.
Wings, tails, hair length, hair color, ears, and clothes are all that can be manipulated. Unlike wings, hybrid Players can completely shift their tell-tale features away.
Players
Qualifications to be a Player
Cognitive Ability
Awareness of self (pain, desire, etc.)
One limb or more capable of holding and manipulating an item
Land mobility
Ability to care for one's own needs (The children of Players are not registered as Players until they reach that milestone. At ages six-eight, they obtain that status. Dependent on the age and maturity of a hybrid/non-human species)
Capable of Respawning
If all are met, they are registered as a Player. Being a Player comes with a Communicator, the main system to access the greater Universe.
Communicators
Communicators offer: Settings, server-list, world creation, texting/messaging, video calling, basic/generic social media
Players join a Server or world by selecting their desired location, and placing it on an unlit netherportal frame.
Communicators are not breakable, and are tethered to a player. They hover, teleport, follow you, and if you do "break it", like shattering it, it respawns. They are an extension of yourself, that allows you greater control in the Universe.
Communicators are the access point for Inventories. Inventories are a pocket-dimension, which you access through the Communicators Graphic User Interface. Breaking items drops them as a digital, or holographic image on the floor. Stepping or touching it will automatically collect it, and put it in your Inventory.
Players are capable of overwriting the inventory, by turning off the setting. Doing so will make it so your tools do not react how they typically wood, and work as real-world items. However, it also means physically carrying them and real manual labor.
Anthro/Animal Players
In the situation of a world/Server being deleted, Watchers and the Universe will pick the most interacted-with animal(s), and the ones that witnessed the most behavior of a Player, and the former mob(s) will take the Player's place. They are warped and made humanoid to fit the previously mentioned criteria.
The longer they were a pet/companion to the Player(s) the more memories of their time as a Mob they’ll remember. Most forget overtime, and will take on the memories of their Player/owner believing them to be their own.
Spawned
While Players can be born, they can also be spawned by Devs or Watchers. Players can be created anywhere from the ages of 8 and up. They will spawn (typically) in a single player world of their own, an assigned Username, and the knowledge that they're meant to survive and discover.
Hybrids
Hybrid Players are typically Mob and Human to qualify, but that's not always the case. There can be double or triple Mob hybrids, without Human, though uncommon. Hybrid Players can be born from two Human parents. In the case of a Player becoming pregnant, The Universe has a small chance of giving the baby a Hybrid-feature to make it more inclined to their surroundings. Hybrid Players are more common for Spawned, but both is possible. Two Hybrid Players of different species typically ends up with the child being one or the other, not both, but it can happen.
Usernames
Usernames for Spawned are automatically assigned, but can be changed.
Usernames for Players who are born, is a prompt given to them the day the world considers them a Player. At this time, their parent typically have given them a name. Their Username typically contains said name, but with alterations/additions. These Usernames are chosen by the Player, however, and as such can at-times be completely unrelated. That is their legal name.
Disability
Accessibility was painstakingly given to ensure every Player could live a life. Devs do not oversee the creation of every single person. They allow them to live, make mistakes, etc. and do not want every Player the same. There is assistance and accessibility for the hearing and seeing impaired, limited mobility folks, etc.
Deafness
Subtitles on their Communicator act as you imagine they would. Only seeable in your eyes, is a small black box in your peripheral that describes the sounds around you.
Visual indicator of where a noise is coming from. Each line in the Subtitles has a corresponding color, and an arrow of the same color, small and in the peripherals, that point towards its direction until it fades. Able to be turned off.
Blindness
One small earplug that narrates your surroundings. It gives the distance between you and a Player/Mob, the amount of blocks you’re looking at and what they are, the registered Username of a Player, etc. Warnings for steps up and step down.
The option to describe a Player (hybrid, hair and hair color, eye color, etc)
Some use a guide cane, or can train a mob to be their guide.  Some prefer the narration and can navigate through life fine that way.
Mobility
Using your Communicator, you can transform something into a wheelchair, crutches, cane, etc. In doing so, Servers will automatically allow you to keep them on/with you. It does not take space in the inventory. They are fully customizable by the Player.

Invasive Specimen
A slugcat only for story. It won't be playble, because it wasn't ment to be. I just talk here as if it will be for simplicity
Artificial slugcat with a nasty habit of eating anything in its way. Originaly created to wipe out any unwanted species - now it only wants to satify its hunger
It's proud and gluttonous. It overeats, which forces its body to adapt and digest faster and faster - so much so that it started to always digest, making foodpips 'rot' even before hibrenation. The rot can be slowed down by eating more than you need - however the excesive foodpips will dissapear in the next cycle
Higly agressive - it can protrude spikes, which will stun whoverer is close to it or tries to attack the slugcat. Can be used as defence and offence - and also can show if the Specimen is angried or stressed
Unstable. The slugcat can protude a needle from its mouth - it's used to stab and take control of any other creature. Specimen will sap nutriens from its victums, killing them in the process. And also taking some genetic code with that - making the slugcat a ticking timebomb of genes
It has a time limit. And in that time limit it wants to kill and consume as much as possible - although its real goal is to 'hunt' bigger predators, to replace them at the top of the food chain
..And here it is. The idea of a slugcat with a mix between Hunters time limit and Gourmands food quest sounds fun, but Specimen dosen't really fit it. What is the point if the challenge is non-existent? It might be fun to play, but it's like playing Hunter with dev tools
Specimen wasn't always like this, what you see described here is the end of a spiral

One of the games I bought while in isolation was Prehistoric Kingdom. Which is basically Planet Zoo, only with (accurate! Don't get me started on the fucking Jurassic Park/World movies/games!) non-avian dinosaurs and prehistoric mammals like mastodons, woolly rhinos, and cave lions.
The game's still in early access, but I've read that much of it is functional, so I bought it on sale. I just fired it up tonight to see what it's about and figure out how it works. Which was a little bit difficult because the recent major update of it broke the tutorial, so the tutorial is currently disabled. But as it turns out, at least in terms of landscape sculpting and building stuff, much of it works an awful lot like Planet Zoo -- only with added (and awesome) scaling functionality, not to mention being able to turn off the grid and to paint entire swaths of trees/shrubs instead of placing things one-by-one -- so between that and the in-game help, I could figure out most things.
And then I bred myself some psittacosaurs, shown in the pic, because they're among my favorite non-avian dinosaurs, and plopped them in a habitat....and....Well, a bit of nerding ahead. But before I get to that, I give the game a thumbs up so far, and it has tons of potential ahead of it. I'll probably put the game in unlimited, creative sandbox mode and just check out and build for every dino species in the game before going back and actually playing the game in its challenge mode, where you have to unlock stuff and don't get unlimited money.
Now for the nerding. My psittacosaurs promptly escaped from their habitat because I didn't bother with any natural barriers to block the invisible fences I laid. LOL But that's OK because I just wanted to see what they looked like in the game, given that we actually know a lot about what they looked like in real life in terms of soft tissues and pigmentation and such.
And it turns out that they did a pretty good job with the psittacosaurs! They got the dorky bristles at the base of the tail and the bizarre-o head correct. And they got the countershading right! That is, darker on top and lighter on the belly, which is typical for animals that live in dense forests. We know that psittacosaurs had this because there've been some specimens preserved with soft tissues, which included skin which included preserved melanosomes, so we could find out about the coloration of these buggers. So, the devs got the countershading as well as the subtle stripes/spots correct. I'd say they still look a bit too shiny/plastic-y, so they probably need to crank down the speculars a little, but otherwise? Pretty damn good.
I'd read that the developers of this game were trying to be more scientifically accurate, as opposed to...you know what...but I'm still pretty impressed. Can't wait to see if they did a similarly good job with the dilophosaurs, which are my favorite non-avian dinos. (Fucking Jurassic Park...Dilophosaurs are not tiny, venom-spitting frilled lizards, for fuck's sake, and yes, that was well-known in the early 90s, so there's no excuse!)

Oooh thoughts on Rainworld? I really love the scavengers, wish I could find more people actually talking about them as a neat intelligent species and all the possible interactions instead of the super common clickbait “killing scavenger challenge !!! Speedrun!” which isn’t my personal thing
I love rainworld tho I need to have like all the difficulty modifiers on to give myself a chance at playing aha - I know it’s meant to be a harsh survival, but I struggle even with games meant to be easy or medium/normal. Glad the devs have given me a way to play even tho it’s not “intended experience” bc I love the world and lore!!
I love this game so much. Challenge is a huge motivator for me in playing games, and mastering the complicated movement tech is so satisfying. I got to Moon in eight cycles back in June! Might be able to shave it down to four or five now. I just learned about the expedition easter egg (no spoilers for what it is!) and I'm working at getting at each location.
Scavs are amazing, and I hate provoking them outside of Artificer. Unfortunately you can't interact with them a whole lot, better fulfilled by having wee little slug babies.
Tumblr media
Meet my slug babies, Strawberry and Peaches. Strawberry likes napping. Peaches likes violence. Lil orange bugger got herself shish-kebabbed by a noodlefly mama for eating a baby noodlefly but Revivify mod came in clutch!
I've got twenty billion mods, keeping the spirit of the game without changing its difficulty. Diverse Shelters, Spear Snails, and Emerald's Tweaks and Features among others.
Sorry for the scatterbrainedness, it's getting a little hard to focus.

continued assorted thoughts:
- a better justification for bringing me on the expedition might be that I’ve just recently been through the boot-up process, so I’m uniquely suited among all New Jerusalem’s residents to solve puzzles—it’s fresh in my brain. Just say their preliminary scouting of the island returned photos that look a lot like the simulation puzzles, so they thought it would be useful to bring along the puzzle-baby
- Melville I want to be you when I grow up
- who decided I’m a he? Wasn’t me. Can I change that at Helga’s booth? It can’t be harder than downloading a new gender package, right? YoU wOuLdNt DoWnLoAd a gEnDeR
- this is all… very pretty… but my computer is apparently a bit of a potato 😢 alas I find my philosophical experience constrained by the limits of physical reality, if only there was a Principle that neatly expressed this conundrum
- you guys are setting up SUCH a stark dichotomy between “explore and move toward the future” versus “honor the past and maintain balance”— you realize you can do both, right? Those aren’t mutually-exclusive options? Robots can very easily explore the world while living in harmony with nature—all y’all bots need to read A Psalm for the Wild-Built and A Prayer for the Crown-Shy, stat. Mosscap for mayor of New Jerusalem.
- speaking of. You guys talk all the time about these vast, vague concepts, but what do they mean, practically speaking? “What’s the true nature of the human spirit, tradition or innovation?” Look buddy, it’s transient, shifting like water what are we talking about, picking a theme for next week’s gala or fixing the maintenance problems at the hydroelectric dam? Let’s be CONCRETE about this
- re: the problems with the power grid, how attached are we to New Jerusalem’s location? It seems like since we’re all synthetic, we benefit from fewer constraints than bio-humans re: comfortably habitable climates. We could move almost anywhere (as long as the cats like it). Wouldn’t the most long-term sustainable solution be to relocate somewhere that geothermal energy is a possibility?
- SPEAKING OF, I understand the constraints on game devs’ time, but it would have been great to see some non-human-shaped humans! If we’re building them all from scratch, why not have fun with it? The featherless biped physical model isn’t exactly the pinnacle of smart design. Surely, at least a few of New Jerusalem’s citizens would upgrade or modify their bodies, right? Gotta be some folks who would be happier being spider-shaped. I think it would add interesting texture to the bots’ decision to call themselves “human,” too—yes, we define ourselves explicitly as a continuation of the human species, even if many of us are also lawnmowers. My neighbor is a lawnmower and she designs fantastic crossword puzzles, lawnmowers are people too!
- hm, I’m not really sure how to put this… but this game feels… sort of like the opposite of what I took away from The Talos Principle? In the first game, you spend all your time in gorgeous puzzle-garden-ruins contemplating the Big Ideas about What It Means to Be Human, but ultimately, you have to reject the perfectly-designed puzzle-world and step outside into the gritty, imperfect reality of a world that wasn’t designed for you to solve. Real life is messy and complicated and often disappointing and not as cleanly satisfying as a world made of brightly-colored puzzles that were made especially for you, but that’s the point, isn’t it? The challenge is worth it because it’s real. This island full of puzzles… doesn’t feel real. It feels like a retreat, like somebody got disheartened by all the boring problems (we’re running low on insulation, the jazz quartet is getting noise complaints again, somebody set a fire in the park by mistake and now everyone is yelling) and instead, ran away to build a bunch of colorful puzzles that make you feel Special and Important for solving them. Bleh, I’m tired, I could probably phrase this better.

she  was  born  to  a  single  woman,  in  a  time  where  that  was  a  positive  scandal.  anika  was  torn  away  from  the  human  who  birthed  her  and  raised  by  a  warlock  that  aspired  to  have  children.  the  woman  pushed  anika  to  terrible  lengths,  pulled  her  power  out  in  blood,  sweat  and  tears.  long  nights,  little  sleep,  and  rougher  conditions  than  many,  but  ut  all  worked.  anika  proved  to  have  the  power  that  could  be  felt  in  the  air  when  she  neared,  she  was  a  product  of  a  prince  of  hell,  after  all.
but  there  was  no  love  between  she  and  the  woman  who  stole  her,  and  when  anika  was  a  few  centuries  old  she  killed  her  mentor.  while  the  elder  had  granted  her  abilities  beyond  most  warlocks,  anika’s  capacity  to  hold  a  grudge  and  execute  her  revenge  is  unparalleled.  and  just  like  that,  she  became  the  high  warlock  of  rome  at  a  rather  young  age  for  a  warlock,  but  none  would  challenge  the  girl  either.  she  kept  her  mentor’s  surname  as  well,  a  move  of  power  and  spite.
anika  has  served  rome  for  centuries.  she’s  watched  it  rise,  she’s  watched  it  fall,  and  she’s  witnessed  great  battles  and  great  wars.  she’s  incredibly  old,  but  she’ll  never  tell  that  to  many.  in  truth,  she  won’t  admit  to  any  of  her  story.  it’s  all  rumors  and  speculation.  it  amuses  her,  what  people  come  up  with  to  explain  what  someone  is  or  where  they  came  from.
she’s  a  very  reserved  person,  but  knows  how  to  charm  her  way  into  anything  she  needs.  her  manipulative  skills  are  every  bit  something  to  fear  alongside  her  power.
𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬

dalliances  :  she  has  had  long  term  relationships,  she’s  had  short  flings.  these  are  anything  in  between,  nothing  exclusive,  and  every  bit  just  for  pleasure.  anika  doesn’t  really  have  time  to  fall  in  love  again,  nor  does  she  want  to.  she  sees  multiple  people  at  once  and  has  no  care  to  what  others  think  about  that.
clients  :  people  who  come  to  her  for  her  skills.  she’s  expensive,  but  not  heartless.  can  be  swayed  by  a  good  story,  especially  soft  with  single  mothers  or  children.
staff  :  people  who  work  for  her  in  some  way  or  another.  think  spies,  assistants,  personal  shoppers,  chefs.  she  pays  very  well  and  takes  good  care  of  her  people.  she’s  grateful  for  their  service  to  her  and  shows  it.

idk if this will turn into an ongoing thing where i post about other games i play, but i often like talking about what i'm playing or finished as a way to help me organize my thoughts and reflect on my latest gaming experiences. either way, i've been playing and greatly enjoying no man's sky (on the switch).
to get it out of the way i know the game had a horrible launch but seeing time and time again people talk about how the devs have managed to turn it into a good game has got me curious. before launch, i'd been drawn to the soundtrack (i love 65daysofstatic as any post-rock fan should) and the exploration-based gameplay. and as a roguelike/lite lover, i tend to enjoy navigating procedurally generated environments. i chose the switch because to me this is a game to play in bed or whenever i have a break between things, and despite the graphical concessions it plays really well.
it's been a good experience. the soundtrack is indeed a banger (i loved it when the drop of asimov dropped when i first arrived at a space station), and i love how the game plays how my favorite games tend to go: it casts you as just someone in a world that exists without you. it doesn't hold your hand but slowly introduces mechanics to you, and since the quests are focused on learning about your place in this universe the exploration is justified. you need resources so you are encouraged to explore different planets which impose different challenges on your survivability. and you get to scan the animals there which is really nice! there's a language system which is simple in practice (you learn words from knowledge stones dotted across planets or from aliens from 3 different species), but leads to interesting situations where you interact with an alien without knowing much more than your character can gather from body language. the different species have their own lil cultures and you can increase or decrease your standing with them depending on the way you interact with them. (& one time i managed to convince a vy'keen to get married to another one lmfao) also, the writing has been really good.
my switch tells me i'm sitting at 30 hours and i have done very little in the main quest and i'm still figuring out so much of the gameplay. and most importantly i'm eager to see where it all goes.

Yesterday we challenged ourselves to make headcanon designs for EVERY SINGLE canon slugcat in rain world. It was painful but very very fun!! And good design/shape language practice!
Design notes/headcanons under the cut! We're super proud of these!! Might change/simplify them a bit here and there based on what's easier/more fun to draw, but these are our interpretations!
General Slugcat Headcanons
Long tail, three fingers on each paw, sluglike invertebrate in the vague shape of a feline? Tails usually aren't prehensile.
Equally suited for two-legged and four-legged locomotion, very dexterous and agile.
VERY diverse in adaptations as time goes on; most slugcats have purposed organism ancestors.
Some slugcat populations evolve pseudo-fur (different from the Saint's fur, which is actually symbiotic moss)
As rain becomes harsher and the climate eventually becomes colder, slugcats first evolve towards more aquatic adaptations, then towards adaptations which conserve warmth.
Many of the semi-aquatic adaptations, such as slicker bodies which exchange heat with the environment quickly, prove detrimental to the overall success of the species once the world freezes over.
Survivor
The most basic slugcat and a baseline from which all the other headcanon designs branch off of.
Generally round/slightly square silhouette.
Yeah that's a slugcat alright.
Monk
Just a little guy-
Design has similar shape language as Survivor but with an added heart motif!!
Shorter tail to make the design rounder/more compact overall.
Used several shades of yellow from official art!! They look like mustard! Or pudding!
Their abnormally bright coloration probably made Survivor more protective over them.
Hunter
Bigger, stronger, more scruffy than the other base-game slugs, but less aggressive than Artificer.
The Rot is beginning to show through some of their scars but IT'S FINE HE'S FINE it's not going to spread further.
The regions of darker fur are either from the Rot or just old scars.
Neutral side effect of the Rot is that he eventually gains the ability to spit slightly corrosive acid.
Nightcat/"Wanderer"
Eldritch being that defies the laws of the world /j
Has iridescent fur with sparkly flecks in it!! They ARE the night!
Sort of an echo but not?? They're physical but impervious to harm.
The lack of gold accents marks them as not being of the void.
Rainworld devs please put Nightcat back in the game please-
Sofanthiel/Inv/Enot/???
One time we read an article about countershading camouflage. Sofanthiel is BRIGHTLY COLORED on their back and bioluminescent, they have anti-camouflage.
The constant blushing is actually just more warning coloration. They're just a little bit poisonous <3 (which is why they're the only slugcat besides Artificer that can Maul)
Overall, based on a sea slug! Happy mermay!
Probably also some sort of pseudo-echo. Stuck with Nightcat in the noncanon jail, so sad-
Gourmand
Lots of round shapes and swirls, meant to look approachable and friendly!
Overall, less adaptations, and more neutral colors, similar to Survivor and Monk.
INCREDIBLY STRONG, INCREDIBLY CLEVER, FULL OF WONDER AT THE WORLD-
One of the only slugcats consistently drawn with a visible mouth because he just doesn't look right without that big ol smile.
Spearmaster
A cryptid among slugcats (affectionate). No mouth, but an abnormally long snout, they can smell Everything.
The tallest of the slugs, with?? Some semblance of a bone structure somehow?? Suns what did you do to them??
Fast, strong, but so so light-
The only slugcat with four fingers on each paw, to be more dexterous with spears and signing.
When not needing to communicate, they usually travel on all fours; it's easier on their pseudo-bones.
Their patterns were not intentionally meant to look like a Liepard but it's kind of funny.
Artificer
Has the same reverse-countershading that Sofanthiel has, but for a different reason.
They are CONSTANTLY burning with rage and every creature that looks at them can see it. Who cares if they don't blend in, they can fight whatever threatens them.
Bristly, fur-like coat is slick with flammable, faintly iridescent chemicals.
Has a shorter tail than most slugcats, with coarse hairs on the end which can be used to quickly ignite the chemical they produce, like a match.
Meant to vaguely resemble a Scavenger for the ironyyyyy
Rivulet
Slick, aerodynamic, with webbed paws and fin-like structures on their forelimbs/tail.
Actually kind of short but when on land they're usually standing on their hind legs at full height, ready to pounce.
They have such huge ears to prevent from overheating on land (which is becoming less of a concern as the climate shifts) and to direct falling water to drip onto their external gills.
BIG OL EYES
Saint
The most far-removed from other slugcats in terms of adaptations.
Their "fur" is actually a heat-retaining symbiotic moss that all slugcats are born with now.
This moss originated from the increasingly watery environments that slugcats began living in by Rivulet's time.
More compact, vaguely rabbit-like proportions. The tufts on the sides of their head are derived from the external gills of their ancestors.
Huge pupils for taking in the small amount of light that remains between blizzards.

Hello you all I've got a burning question for something in destiny 2.
Has anyone thought how they could make a cosplay of one of the earlier members of the witnesses species?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That looks like it's gonna be tricky to make a cosplay of one of these that I had been calling desert people in my head cannon...
Here's some stuff that I do know that I've analyzed....
-They have three long ribbon things coming out of their backs but idk if they are sown on the hood or they wear a neck scarf that has the three sown to them.
-They could have them sown on from the back of the neck fabric.
-The type of fabric is probably a thickish soft cotton fabric.
-They probably wear a normal sized rectangular scarf over their faces if not a triangular one.
-also If these guys had existed in the real world. These cloaks probably would be any color but dark colored and light colored unless the destiny devs give us more info about their cloak things.
...
Any ideas on how one might be able to make an outfit of what these guys would actually wear irl?
Like how would one would do the folds of the fabric of like what they got going on with their cloaks in the screenshots. Or should it be like a normal Clark pattern but it's more like long cloak dress with long sleeves and the hood.
It's probably gonna be challenging for the cosplayer to create one of these out fit thingys.
This is a design of one so far and I may need to analyze images of burkas and hijabs later to help the cosplayers who want to create these outfits to have an easier time on making them look right and on how to design it.
Tumblr media
Btw tbh these outfits look very comfortable to wear in the colder weather and I wanna wear one of these.
Also was these images from the actual screenshots from the season of the deep cutscene ai generated? If so I want to know the excat ai, promt, and style that was used to create some of them so I can make more probably to help out with this cosplay if there will be one of them one day.

Well it only took me a few months, but I finally got around to beating Pokemon Abstract- a fan game made as part of Relic Castle's Game Jam #9 back in August of 2023. The short and sweet of it is that during their game jams, groups of fan devs will team up to create a fan game in a small window of time- this one being completed in about... 2 weeks, I think?
Pokemon Abstract definitely doesn't feel that way, though. It's understandably not perfect, but given the quality, I'd say it's up there with some fan games that have had a few years of development. The big appeal of this fan game is that it actually supports an open world format with adjusting levels in accordance to your progress. So it's not like Scarlet and Violet where you can technically go wherever but gyms are stuck in certain levels- literally you can challenge whatever gym you want in whatever order you want, your progress only hindered by what traversal items you've obtained, such as an ax for cutting, surfboard for surfing, climbing gear for rock climb, etc.
The fakemon in the game are also pretty decent looking, although there's only a small handful, so you're more than likely going to be using oldies. That being said, there's a pretty great variety present in the game with even Megas returning, and new ones at that.
My one gripe is that I think you should be given the flying taxi MUCH sooner in the game, because there's times you'll have to progress through the entire map again to get somewhere you need to go on the opposite side.
Otherwise, fun game! Again, very impressive that this was done in about 2 weeks. Serious kudos. Fun characters, fun adventure, I'd love to see something like this in the future again but with more time invested into original music and more fakemon.
As for my team:
Mega Rusalkat (Water/Ground cat mermaid)- My starter. Like Uranium, the starters only evolve once and get 1 mega evolution. Rusalkat was a pretty fun one to use and super strong, with its mega having the ability Sap Sipper to nullify the Achilles heel that would be Grass types. Really tanky, and also capable of sweeping.
Yusagi (Ice bunny)- My first capture, and also the one that never evolved. Despite that, she was actually the strongest in a lot of cases. Potentially the weakest, but has also wiped out huge chunks of tough teams with a literal snowball effect of Ice Ball. Known for slaying dragons quiet easily, and was the fastest to grow to level 100.
Veewiweev (Bug/Dragon, the Girafarig looking guy)- what I suspect is a convergent species of Farigiraf. One of my early game captures and also very reliable. I really relied on it when fighting everything from dragons, psychics, dark types, even fairies in some cases.
Goober/Arcanine (fire)- Another early game catch, and although he had a ruff beginning, he easily became the most important team member towards the end. With an arsenal to deal with grass, ice, steel, ghost, psychic, ghost, dragon, and fighting types, plus extreme speed, he was often the last standing member of my team and saved me during the final battles of Team Eclipse and the Elite 4.
Gaga/Espathra (psychic)- Yet another early game catch, but ultimately replaced before the last 3 gyms (aka a few days ago lol). It didn't win much, but it came in handy when I needed it most. I felt bad about boxing it.
Gengalita/Mega Gengar (ghost/poison)- my fav mega and a lovely find when I came back to the game after a few months. Gengar was actually caught a day after the rest of these guys back in November, and ultimately became a glass cannon when I finally got her mega. It was useful for a lot of cases- most frustrating was the fact I didn't get a single poison type move for it. Well, in any case, it had psychic and electric moves for additional coverage.
Narlgrimm/Grimmsnarl (dark/fairy)- A late game change up, but a pretty smart one for dealing with more ghosts, dragons, etc- surprisingly it was my main FIGHTING type user with drain punch.
For my trainer sprite, I actually edited gen 3 sprites like Abstract did for the most part, and adjusted my usual character head to gen 3 size. Its a neat little dude.
The rest of the sprites are found within the game files itself and I claim no ownership to them.
Think I might try to finish out Insurgence next

Name: Devlin Zagreus Hades Age: appears 36 (Oct.24th) FC: Ray.mond Abl.ack Gender: Male Species: Demigod & Warlock Features, dark brown hair, bright amber eyes, dark olive tanned complexion Sexuality: Bisexual, leans towards women more Ethnicity: Mixed (English/Grecian/North Indian) Nationality: UK-born, American citizenship
Family:
Mother- Agni Devi
Father- Hades
Sister- Isabelle Purefoy
Basic:
Likes: chocolate, art, mythological stories, playing with fire, smoking.
Dislikes: Being told what to do, humans, people who underestimate him
Pets: Sotirios the Agouti Huskey, nicknamed Soti. Haralambos the Belgian Malinois, nicknamed Harbo, and a Groenendae named Neofytos, nicknamed Neof.
Tattoos: A flame tattoo on his upper, left side of back.
Personality
Some of Devlin’s personality have qualities which defy the definition of his individual traits, in this manner it makes him unique. Despite being emotional, he can be quite analytic, especially when it comes to his battle tactics. It comes in handy when he has to make quick decisions on taking down a monster and saving as many people as he can. Though Dev is ntroverted, he developed people skills and robust social relationships; and though he can be judgmental, he can be convinced to be receptive to change and new ideas especially noawadays. He is more than the sum of all his parts.
Devlin proves time and time again to be a true altruist, meeting kindness with kindness-in-excess and engaging the work and people he believes in with enthusiasm and generosity.
He is often meticulous to the point of perfectionism, and though he procrastinates, he can always be relied on to get the job done on time. The demigod takes his responsibilities personally, consistently going above and beyond, doing everything he can to exceed expectations and delight others, whether he is in a situation where he is working, or when he is relaxing at home. Making others happy give him a joy unlike any other.
It is a challenge for Devlin to be noticed, given that he would underplay his accomplishments. When his kindness gets respected, more cynical and selfish people tends to take advantage of his dedication and humbleness, by pushing their work to him and then when the time comes, they take the credit. He needs to know when to say no and stand up for himself, in order to maintain his confidence and enthusiasm.
Again, despite being a natural introvert, Devlin can utilize excellent memory not to retain data and trivia, but to remember people and details about his life. This makes him good at giving gifts, where he uses his natural sensitivity to express his generosity in ways that touch the hearts of their recipients. That is why he would consider a coworker to be a close personal friend, and they get to receive his affection in full bloom.
If I Can Protect You, I Will
His mother is Agni Devi, a British woman with Indian roots, who raised her half-god son in secrecy while teaching her skills. His mother is the daughter of a shaman who dedicated her life to learning the mystic arts, especially pyromancy. She is not a strict guardian and often allowed Devlin to roam free and understand himself, but her fear of Hades finding him always caused her stress.
Living in a world where kids with supernatural powers are taken up by authority, Devlin has to be extra careful of his pyrokinetic powers. His mother revealed to him that he was a demigod and son of Hades. When protecting him, she was taken away and deemed missing and ever since then, Devlin made himself to be emotionally detatched. Growing up several foster homes since he was eight, they all ended up burning down mysteriously. He had his anger issues and took it out on others, and now looking back he has severe regrets and would atone for those acts.
Devlin trusts few, and when he does meet someone, he would automatically try to look to see if they are “special”, meaning if they have supernatural powers. Being the son of Hades allows him to see the dead as well. It was a trait he always had, and can implement it at all times to the point that he rarely gets shocked by it at this point. But he doesn’t let that go to waste. Given his personality, and the fact that he has the ability to go to the underworld and help cross the souls safely, it is a daily occurrence where he would do just that, as he would help the living and dead alike.
There was the Pantheonic Wars where Devlin had finally found his true calling, as one of the co-founders of Camp Half Blood. He would bring other halflings like him there and aid them in learning how to use their powers, taking the role as everyone’s big brother. Whether or not he was related, and most of them were not related because Hades was the least adulterous, he was guiding them and being a source of help, reassuring and fighting off the monsters the other gods would release.
It led to his demise. Devlin had been unable to fight off multiple monsters at once, some were dragons, another was a chimera and even some minotaurs were involved. No one to this day knows who employed those monsters, so in a way his death was a mystery. However all this time he lived in the underworld in trauma, unwilling to return and dealt with his trauma.
About a decade later, Devlin has gone through a transformation. Before he was smooth skinned, and after training in the hottest, flaming regions of Tartarus, he became more rougher and charred, some parts of his body have permanent dark markings with not even a trace of his original complexion. He grew more facial hair, built up his body to be more muscular, and looks as if he was preparing himself for battle.
The decision to come back to the human world was a decision that was not easy. He did it one day and did not tell anybody, working in shelters and volunteering to pass his time and just to give himself a lifestyle that can let him work and not work whenever he has to. His senses need to readjust but he is the same Devlin to the core. It seems as though the Pantheonic wars have ceased, and now he is left wondering what is left for the son of Hades to do.
Devlin likes being around his siblings more than his father. He finds his father cold and calculative and often busy with work, but Melinoe and Macaria, the daughters of Persephone, are often nice to him and he gets along with them really nicely. But around Persephone and Hades he pretends he’s not because he knows his stepmother doesn’t actually like him. He also shares the soul of Zagreus, after his brother died he did not want to pass on as a soul in the afterlife so instead he ‘lives’ on through Devlin and their souls have combined. Zagreus is more of a warrior and is cocky and somewhat dumb, and his personality has been imbibed in Devlin who even goes by that name now and then.
