Reaffirming life

It followed the script we all had in mind - the script Mark would have approved:

A standing-room-only gathering of the tribe - sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, neighbors, hunting buddies, cousins close and distant ... plus the people who don’t fit into any category - a kid he coached in baseball, somebody who was once married to somebody, heeding the drum of the obit.

We listened to tributes, we drank toasts, we held each other’s babies, we saw to it that the laughs outnumbered the tears, 10 to one. And, in so doing, we reminded ourselves that while Mark is gone, we’re still here. While he, we trust, is resting in peace, we still have some noise to make.

Tim McGraw - Standing Room Only

So today on the MSR (Midnight Star Review), I would like to talk about the latest album from Country Music Superstar Tim McGraw. The new album is titled "Standing room only" and was released on Friday August 25th, 2023. But before we dive into the new 13 track album, let's talk about some of career of Tim first.

Songs we may remember from Tim are hits like "Don't take the girl", "It's your love" with Faith Hill, & "Just to see you smile". Other big hits are "Live like you were dying", "Where the green grass grows", & "I like it, I love it". But before we dive too far off track, let's talk about the new album up next.

There are a lot of good songs on this new project. Tim even co-wrote 1 song on this new CD. Songs you should check out include "Hold on to it", "Standing room only" which is the title track, & "Paper umbrellas" sounds like an old school song to me. Other songs you might want to check out are "Fool me again", "Small town king", & "Beautiful hurricane". "Cowboy junkie", which is an upbeat song in my opinion "Nashville CA/L.A. Tennessee" featuring Lori McKenna, & "Some songs change your world". Honestly I cannot overstate how much seeing Hayden as TCW Anakin changed EVERYTHING. Matt Lanter's Anakin is a frat dude. He wears a backwards baseball hat and says vaguely offensive things without realizing, while being a fundamentally chill and outgoing guy at heart. Hayden's Anakin is... not that. His voice. His expressions. His physical presence. It's off somehow. It's just left of normal. It's completely unremarkable and yet deeply uncanny for reasons you can't quite describe. TCW Anakin was always a flatter, blander portrayal, but I don't think I realized until now what exactly was missing: the serial killer energy. The inarticulable conviction that SOMETHING unhinged is going on behind those eyes.

#also the difference between TCW anakin's charm and ROTS anakin's charm #tcw: outgoing. does finger guns. nonplussed socially sometimes but still confident. able to be charming #rots: competent. exuberant. frothing with rage. so shy and awkward he fully cant function. insecure. an entire tank yet fragile as glass #charming only because hes both SO COMPETENT and also so categorically unable to purposefully be charming #ITS SO DIFFERENT. Leo being put into a situation where there is absolutely no fighting, just verbal manipulation and perception games, would be amazing to witness. We see a lot in the series how good he is at subterfuge and how he uses his perception to manipulate to great effect, so it’d be so cool to really see it put to the test even more.

Manipulation is one of the most effective tactical strategies of all time, so just imagine Leo putting this skillset of his to the full test. Imagine the boys slowly get up to busting bigger and more powerful criminals, including those with networks of crime under their belt, and a simple fight isn’t enough to take them down. For criminals like this, Leo’s skills in subterfuge would be deadly.
