…I think he’ll be the one to try and get through to Shadow:

Why?

Because of: Longclaw

The one being who scarified themselves to ensure the other could survive and/or fulfill their future purpose.

The similarities are uncanny, and - as much as I feel exploring the comparability between this all would be amazing - I’m hesitant to suggest that this was always the plan to complete a trilogy. It might not be. But I’m sus.

In this universe, we’re presented with a Sonic character who can - to some degree - directly relate to being ripped away from that one person in his life who was all he’d ever supposedly known, trusted, and cared for. If Movieverse Shadow follows close to other iterations and arcs of the character, the same trauma can naturally be said for him. And I feel that would lead to a very interesting set-up if done right. And Shadow isn’t made into some prick edgelord

Cue the: “How could you possibly know what loss feels like?” spiel mid-scuffle and Sonic snaps.

“Because I lost everything, too. I made a mistake, and…everything went wrong because of me��”

“Her name was Longclaw, and she protected me so I could get here. To safety. I put people in danger. I put her in danger because I wasn’t responsible. And now she’s gone.”

“I miss her everyday. Sometimes I wonder if things had been different…if I…”

“Look, I can be angry and upset about what I did; what happened, I still kinda’ am, but revenge isn’t going to bring Longclaw back.”

Sonic lost a great deal when he left Longclaw behind; his carer, his home, his everything. But throughout the Movieverse, he’s come to gain something just as beautiful - a caring family and amazing friends.

We also begin to journey alongside Sonic as he starts to get used to the idea of being responsible in Sonic 2 and concluding he still wanted to ‘be a kid’. And what could be more of a perfect act of responsibility and ‘growing up’ than directly showing another the power of being a just hero and supporting someone who’s pain he can understand.

Idek…just a few wee thoughts… :)

So I watched Project Shadow this morning and. To me this means Maria designed his shoes while Gerald made them reality + I like to think Maria did what she could to help with crafting them. Which means those are one of if not the only tangible thing Shadow has to remember her by since everything else was either destroyed or is still on the Ark. tails headcanon before i pass out

while sonic definitely has weirder sleeping areas, tails has his moments. sonic has definitely found him asleep in a box or two before. when he wants to sleep in a tight space but also wants to stay in bed, he surrounds himself with pillows (he has like five) and curls into a ball

he also enjoys sleeping up high, especially when he’s stressed. whether is be on a tree branch when he and sonic take a nap during a run or in a make-shift hammock he has attached to the ceiling in the corner of his room. because his bullies couldn’t fly, the higher he was, the safer so sleeping up high brings him a sort of childhood comfort

basically up high + tight space = ideal sleeping spot for tails

he also just enjoys being up high in general. whenever everyone is sitting around, he will find a way to be above them

sorry if this makes so sense i’m very out of it 👍

Another installment of random Sonic Headcanons

Sonic doesn't like buttercream frosting, Tails doesn't like whipped frosting, and Knuckles always wipes 90% of the frosting off his cake

When Tails is doing something, whether it's working in his lab or just making dinner, Sonic will shadow box the air behind him. He stops when Tails turns around to look at him, but the fox very much knows that Sonic is throwing fake punches at him lol

Tails, Cream, and Charmy play animal crossing (or the Sonic equivalent lol) together

Matter of fact, I think like all the characters play video games together. I'm sure they have different types of video games they like (I can see Sonic playing animal crossing but Jet? Not so much) but it's not odd for them to enter an online lobby

Tails loves crunchy foods

Espio once asked Vector to death roll him to "see if his body could take it".... Vector obviously said no

I don't think any of the cast really feel famous, except for maybe the Babylon Rogues bc they're (probably) sports stars

No matter how often they get asked for an autograph or approached in public they're all like "???? Yeah ??? I guess I can take a picture with you ???"

I think hedgehogs are one of the most common races (species??) of Mobian

If the Robotniks were Mobian they would be robins (<- pretty sure I've said that before) and possibly various other red and black birds

Barry and Tails keep in contact, but they don't get a lot of chances to hang out

I don't have anything for Blaze and Silver rn but just know that I love them dearly and I'm always thinking of them

Cream is determined to befriend Shadow. She will stop at nothing until he admits that they are friends

Sonic hates being on talkshows, and talkshows hate having him on, so it's mutual lol

The Rookie (whose name i cannot remember rn it's on the tip of my tongue omg) keeps the most contact with Knuckles, but everyone still stops to chat when they get the chance

Shadow suffers from memory loss after... Falling out of a spaceship and... Losing his memory...

I think for a while he was too prideful to write things down or set reminders because heaven forbid the ultimate lifeform needs help. This led to Shadow forgetting where his own place was and refusing to ask how to get there

Maybe this is my new explanation for why Shadow is always in caves and is never shown in a house of his own, instead of the actual explanation lol

Sonic often talks to Gaia/Chip when he's alone, Tails caught him a few times and has also picked up the habit, though he does talk to him less than Sonic does

Charmy doesn't like bananas

I've said this before in this post about shadows development, but I think he sheds a lot. Hedgehogs aren't actually supposed to lose quills unless they're super stressed, but because Shadow's DNA is only partially Mobian Hedgehog, a few things are off

Sth Headcanon that's been eating at my brain:

Deaf/Hearing-impaired, Miles "Tails" Prower.

My friend mentioned in passing how being around Sonic for years and likely being more than too close to his fair amount of sonic booms, Tails' Eardrums should be in shambles.

It's been a month since he said that and I can't stop thinking about it. It makes so much sense to me and now I wanna put it in all my stories.

• Did they get up to mischief together on the Ark?

• Did they stay up late under blankets with Maria narrating all her best stories?

• Did they have old Disney movie nights?

• Did Shadow study the Disney Princess movies so he could learn why Maria got that beautiful far away gaze when the Prince Charming characters appeared?

• Did they spend all of their time together?

• Did they make silly nicknames for each other like kids do and play with the staff’s walkie talkies?

• Did they steal all the snacks and have midnight feasts together?

• Did Shadow learn how to tame her hair when she became too unwell to do it herself?

• Did Shadow stay with her during these times and watch her sleep to make sure she was ok?

• Does Shadow see her face every time he closes his eyes?

• Does Shadow see Maria in others he comes to know?

If Shadow was a lab-experiment then I think that means it's very likely that they used a reward system on him like any other labrat and that as a result, he's probably extremely easy to Pavlov

How funny would it be for Shadow, who's so stubborn and uncooperative, to suddenly be easily influenced into doing things if you happen to figure out what he perceives as a reward

He starts showing up at social events and everyone thinks he's finally comin around but actually it's just cause Rouge will only give him his favorite food if he attends and plays nice

Thinking about... Sonic and Shadow racing from time to time. Pretty standard hc.

Except that Shadow loses more often than not, but not because he's slower or anything. He just keeps getting distracted by things he's never seen and straight up stops running to admire the pretty flowers he spotted in the undergrowth, or a butterfly with a peculiar pattern on its wings, or a rock formation in the distance that from this angle looks especially cool.

The first time it happens Sonic only notices after a while and kinda goes "wtf did he trip and fall into the void or smth" and runs back to look for Shadow and finds him laying on his stomach staring intensely at a bunch of weird fake-ladybug thingies.

And maybe nowadays when Shadow gets home after one of these 'failed' races, the first thing he tells Rouge is "I saw a new flower today" and she goes "alright describe it to me we're adding it to the Notebook™" and all is well with the world.

P.S. The Notebook™ is a little journal of all the new things Shadow sees and likes <3
