Tomáš was Bi-Han's second in command
I'm not sure why no one talks about the heartbreaking tale between these two brothers that we got to witness in the recent season of Invasions mode.
We know that Tomáš was dark!Titan Sub-Zero's second in command from what Liu Kang's text box tells us right before we're about to face off against him. It was definitely not Kuai Liang because he appears as a lesser miniboss on the mesa of Shang Tsung's laboratory and doesn't even get a text box of his own, suggesting that he didn't hold a very important position within the Lin Kuei and Sub-Zero's army, while Tomáš is not only shown right next to Bi-Han in cutscenes, but that timeline's Lin Kuei warriors even wear uniforms similar to his own.
"Ever loyal to his Grandmaster, this Smoke has committed his life to Sub-Zero and to the Kytinn’s extermination. He will stop at nothing to win. Neither should you."
These hoods and masks look very different from the Lin Kuei's usual attire, they actually look a lot like the Order of Darkness skin Tomáš is wearing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Upon closer inspection, these uniforms contain elements from both Sub-Zero's and Smoke's armors. The hood and mask resemble the gear Tomáš is wearing while the rest looks more similar to Bi-Han's own armor. Could it be that the brothers came up with the idea for these Lin Kuei uniforms together?
Tumblr media
This cutscene of Kitana showing off Smoke's severed head to Bi-Han's fleeing armies after Bi-Han is defeated confirms that Tomáš was of importance within the Lin Kuei's ranks and potentially the next one to take over the grandmaster title after Sub-Zero. Can you imagine how heartbroken Bi-Han was to find out Tomáš had died defending him?
And here we have the proof that Bi-Han indeed considered Smoke his brother:
"He takes no prisoners, spares no lives, bent as he is on erasing from existence anyone, from any reality, who does not share his Lin Kuei blood."
If Bi-Han cared this much about Lin Kuei blood, but still made Tomáš whose blood is not Lin Kuei, Tomáš of all people, his second in command, how do people still dare question whether or not he is a good brother to Smoke? If this most evil incarnation of Bi-Han showed this much respect and care towards Tomáš, what makes people assume that the current timeline's morally grey Bi-Han doesn't share the same respect for his brother? Because he got angry at him once? Bi-Han does care about Tomáš and whoever says otherwise is wrong.

While on the subject of Dad Ganondorf, Nintendo should make a Zelda game where he appears with several Gerudo daughters who act as minibosses, like Bowser with his Koopalings in the early Mario games. And of course he's a very Evil but Wholesome Villain Dad. 😂

Tumblr media
There had been a time when Twilight hated dungeons for how often they popped up during his adventures. Between the brain teasers and terribly inconvenient designs (seriously who needs so many rooms or levels?), he would groan aloud every time someone warned him about a problem coming from deep within some 'sacred temple' or caves near their home, however after months of walking until his feet are sore and countless encounters with monster hordes, you could say Twilight has officially had a change of heart. Sliding a few boxes around for an extra heart piece really doesn't sound that bad compared to chasing a shadow across several realms, now does it?
With that said, he had been a bit relieved when a group of locals brought it to his attention that some strange smoke had been rising up from a nearby mountain, practically begging the group of visiting heroes to check it out. He wasn't the only one willingly to agree, in fact most of the boys seemed eager to help aside from Time who was hesitant to derail their quest as well as Wild and Warrior who just couldn't understand what all this fuss about dungeons is about. In the end, it was decided that half of the group would go for the locals' sake while the others would stay to investigate leads about portals. At the time, this seemed to be a great trade and Twilight had even been looking forward to being able to do something different, but as his luck continues to prove, it turns out he has none whatsoever in terms of joy...
What even happened? He doesn't quite understand. He was joking with Wind and Hyrule about something long after everyone had split into two groups to make exploring the dungeon go faster. They were nearly complete with their half, having successfully fought a miniboss which was no trouble at all, in fact that's what had them in such high spirits at the moment. They entered the next room while placing bets regarding how 'difficult' the main boss would be when a shout met their ears. Seconds later, Twilight heard a 'BOOM' while being shoved backwards by a heavy force. Given that sound and the vague smell of smoke in the air, he would've assumed he had been hit by the blast of a bomb which probably wouldn't have been so far from the truth if not for you.
It takes a good minute for Twilight's poor mind to catch up, realizing much to his horror what had actually happened as you fell stiffly against his chest, your entire backside scoured. The floor tile behind you both - the same one he was about to step on before you shoved him out of the way - is gone, only a smoldering pile of broken shards left in its wake. Now why it exploded, Twilight doesn't know nor does he care. His main concern is you, sitting up in a snap and grabbing your shoulders with worry. At least there's some relief in you blinking open your eyes to look at him, but the way you groan and flinch at the movement makes him sick with guilt.
"What was that?!" Wild asks the same question that's hidden deep in Twilight's mind.
"The gold floor tiles explode," You explain, the pain clear in your grumbled voice as you attempt to push yourself away from Twilight, although he doesn't allow it, instead carefully shifting you to sit on his lap as he hisses as the sight of how the flames had burned right through you tunic, leaving behind a nasty open wound that no doubt continues to burn.
"Why did you do that?!" He asks the questions on the front of his mind, accepting the potion Four quickly hands to him for you. A part of him wants to be angry given how calm they can all be given your injury, although any other day he'd be rational enough to understand panicking won't help the situation. Regardless of logic, this is you. You're hurt and you got this way protecting him. It should be the other way around if anything!
"Don't be such a hypocrite. You would've done the same for any of us," It's as if you can read his mind as he carefully pours the liquid over your burns, causing you to hiss quietly, but other than that, you're actually handling the pain pretty well, "Besides, it would've been a lot worse had you stepped on it directly. All that fur you wear looks pretty flammable to me. You would've gone up in flames instead of a small burn."
Twilight tries to keep his eyes down at his work as a stubborn sign that he knows you're right, not that he could ever admit such a thing aloud, "...Still...A shouted warning could've done."
"No it wouldn't. Your foot was already lowering -"
"- You two can argue about this later," Four interjects while offering you a hand to get up, "That potion is only a temporary solution. We should get you back to the inn so that Hyrule can heal you completely."
You're about to begrudgingly agree, knowing full well how difficult it'll be to walk on your own even though you were pretty excited to finish this dungeon. Before you can take Four's hand, however, you're lifted into the air, held bridal style in Twilight's arm (which poses no challenge for him to accomplish).
"I'll carry you back."
"You don't have to -"
"- You took a hit for me. It's the least I can do," His voice is as stern as his mind, making it clear that this is the only compromise you'll be presented with less you want to keep the argument up all night. Thus, you merely pout and look away with a huffed 'fine', "I'm sure the three of you will be fine finishing the dungeon by yourselves?"
"Pff, with our eyes closed," Legend crosses his arms, offended anyone would think otherwise. Four and Wind nod quickly, their eyes still reflecting sympathy for your sake even though they know you've seen worse.
With that, Twilight turns, heading towards the exit of the dungeon with you (more comfortably that you'll say) in his arms and Hyrule at his feet. As upset as he appears on the outside, Twilight can't help feeling some sort of shameful pride at the thought that you'd be so fond of him as to willingly risk injury, so he makes an unspoken promise to himself to spoil you for at least until the evidence of your burns fade. It's the least he could do (and the best excuse he'll find for staying at your side nonstop).
Tumblr media
Perhaps it's because he's never had many opportunities to do anything like this before the Calamity or maybe it's because he got so accustomed to it after those dark days. The origin doesn't change the fact that Wild tends to find more comfort in nature than ever before. The splashing of stream water down a waterfall. The singing of birds or creaking of crickets depending on the hour. The gentle breeze through his hair as his only company...It's become a habit of his to find spots like this during tough moments, especially those when he feels himself slipping the most...moments like what occurred today...
If he wasn't so upset and angry inside, he'd feel sort of guilty for running off the way he had back there. It wasn't anyone else’s fault that he's out of his element lately, resulting in more screwups on the battlefield. It's not their fault that he messed up during the last fight, too, breaking his sword against a darknut's armor, leaving himself defenseless (he didn't think it would be that strong!). Most importantly of all, it wasn't their fault that his ignorance resulted in you, for whatever reason, feeling as if it was your responsibility to save him with complete disregard for the risk.
Wild keeps replaying the moment in his mind - you fighting viciously against the darknut until it was reduced to a puff of purple smoke, but not without receiving several cuts and scrapes yourself. He's not sure what hurts more: seeing you injured for his sake or the anger that flashed in your eyes when you looked back at him. You're not happy with him. Nobody was considering the number of times they've warned him about not rushing in battle head first, however your disappointment carried a strong burn that challenged even the Old Man's. If anything, Wild strives to see your joy and hear your praise, not be the source of your dismay.
He can't help but wonder what would have happened if you weren't so prepared at that moment. What if you had gotten a more serious injury? What if you had died all because of him? Could he stomach losing another person he loves like that? How can he call himself a hero when he's constantly failing those he should be protecting the most? He can't. He's a failure...
"Link?"
He pretends not to hear your voice, although it's a poor act given the way he flinches. Sighing, you take his turned head and stiffened shoulders as an invite to walk closer, finding a seat beside him in the grass. You don't say much at first, simply taking in the beautiful scenery and counting the fireflies fluttering around you.
"...I'm sorry I yelled at you either. I lost my temper, but I shouldn't have."
"You had every right to," Wild mumbles, pulling his knees to his chest and hiding his face against them so that he doesn't have to look at you, too afraid he'll break down if he does, "I put everyone in danger by being impatient. I put you in danger."
You shrug, looking down as you run your hand against the grass, "...You really do have to be more careful, I'll stand by that. You gotta assess situations especially against monsters you've never seen before...but with that said, no one can expect you to be perfect. This situation is different for all of us. Really, aside from the Captain, most of us have never even worked in groups before, so it'll take getting used to. Just try to keep in mind that you're not alone, so don't act like it."
Wild lifts his head only to put his chin upon his knee, still stubbornly glaring into the distance instead of responding to your words, although he's forced to smile a little when you nuzzle your face against his while whining his name for attention.
"I heard you."
"Then show it. It took me forever to think-up that heartfelt speech. Do you know how difficult public speaking is?"
"It's only the two of us."
"And like, thirty fireflies!" You gesture to the bugs in question, happy to hear Wild's chuckle and even happier to wrap your arm around his without any sort of fight, "...I mean it, Link. It's okay to lean against the rest of us sometimes. I'd be devastated if something irreversible ever happened to you."
He blushes, his words whispered as he leans his head against yours and closes his eyes, "...I'd be, too, if anything happened to you."
Tumblr media
This can't be happening again. How is this even Wind's luck? He thought he made himself perfectly clear from the beginning that just because he's the youngest in the group does not mean everyone has to keep trying to protect him as if he’s made of glass! He's a hero of courage, too! He did his part, traveling across the great sea, fighting through numerous difficult dungeons, and defeating Ganondorf all by himself - Well, the King of Red Lions and Zelda helped some, too, but the point still stands! He didn't need Wild to take a hit for him that one time nor did he need you to do practically the same exact thing now!
It's worse this time than it was with Wild which only makes Wind angrier (and guiltier). Unlike the Champion who bounced back onto his feet after a few minutes, you weren't so lucky. No matter how much Wind shook your body or cried your name with his tears dripping across your bloodied face, you just wouldn't wake up. He couldn't even lift you to carry you to safety. Time has already tried explaining to him that his panicked state likely waived his strength, but Wind refuses to accept that excuse.
He must've done something during that fight to make you think he couldn't handle himself. You got hurt - really hurt trying to protect him and he couldn't even protect you afterwards. It was Warrior who picked you up and ran out of the battle. It was Hyrule and Legend who worked together to heal your wounds with potions and magic. What did Wind do in the meantime? He cried like a child.
He did his best to hide it, wandering to the back of the group while desperately trying to use his sleeves to clear away the tears. He couldn't help it, as much as he wanted to believe otherwise. For those long ten minutes of you not moving regardless of everyone's efforts, he was left thinking he had killed you. He's a hero who's supposed to save people, but instead he ended up getting one of the nicest and more selfless individuals he's ever known killed!
At long last, you began to stir, further awoken by the chorus of relieved sighs that followed. You complained of a nasty headache and immediately tried sitting up which Legend wouldn't allow; you're okay - you're alive despite how it may have looked seconds ago, but that doesn't make Wind feel much better.
Even from where he stands so far away, he can see the smudged blood staining your forehead and that dazed look in your eyes while Wild just laughs, welcoming you to the club of needless head injuries. You, of course, brush everyone else off, your eyes skillfully finding Wind despite how he tries to hide from view.
You croak his name, yet he turns his back to you with crossed arms, doing his best not to start crying again, "I thought I told you all to stop risking yourselves for my sake. I can handle myself!”
"You would've been hurt yourself," You comment with a frown, making Wind's anger flare.
"I'm not a child, though!"
"I didn't say you are one. I would've jumped in front of you even if you were as old as the rest of us. Trust me, Wind. The only thing on my mind at that moment wasn't anything related to your age, it was simply the worry that you were about to be ambushed. I didn't want to see you hurt any more than I'd want to see any of you boys get hurt."
Wild chews on his bottom lip, blinking back the tears as he at last stomps over to join the rest of you, pouting stubbornly yet his voice is genuine as he mumbles, “...I’m just happy you’re alive.”
You give a droopy smile and a thumbs up, although the action is rather shaky, “As good as ever!”
“No, you clearly are not,” Twilight deadpans.
“Lay back down already, you have a concussion!”
"Legend, lower your voice."

Rise of the Titans - Yurika & Ghira
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yurika is a powerful mage from the Yiga Clan. They are serving as a leading superior in master Kohga's absense and are actually quite competent in their leadership role. You'll encounter them several times in miniboss battle confrontations.
Ghira is a leading figure of the Baga Clan - a group that branched off from the Yiga Clan after the demon kings defeat. She and her clan are more neutral, and are open to help Link and the Sages in their quest...for a small price.

also this isnt really proper shade at larian or anything and the writing of this game is SAURE good so dont take it this way but.
i sure do wish. Minthara was not villain batted as hard as she was. Her being locked to "evil" runs and being mutually exclusive with several party members. Her being nothing more than a miniboss for your average player- who does not even know shes a potential party member! Her being so chronically unloved by the community because... shes the "evil" companion. Hell, even the amount of people saying frankly really edgy shit about killing her or hurting her completely unprompted lmao. Like I genuinely think shes been pretty unfairly demonized both by the community and by the meta of just like... the game itself because she's really actually..... kind of, dare I say, sweet? if you get to know her. ugh.
#also if i had two nickles. shes sylvanas all over again lads i fear#idk obviously larian handles her character much better than wow ever handled sylvanas but its genuinely like#kind of eerie how similar they are and how hard they where both villain batted considering how evil they actually are#ESP compared to their male counterparts#like i would argue that neither of them are any more evil- and likely are even less evil- than a lot of the men in the same game that#are not villain batted at all.#like every character in warcraft is a war criminal so sylvanas is hardly uniquely evil on that front#and i have a hard time buying that minthara is anymore inherently evil than astarion lol#idk again larian handles trauma much better and it feels... inauthentic to accuse them of not treating minthara well because shes#traumatized. thats def not the argument im making here but it IS really sad to relate to / find catharsis in another traumatized elf#only for her to be. villain batted just like the last one :/#idk. its just a bummer.#like again thankfully its not a thesis of larians like. karlach and shadowheart and laezel are all beautiful and wonderful examples of like#traumatized women allowed to be angry and validated for being angry#BUT im selfish haha i want my bestie minthara to be able to have a happy ending w the rest of us and i dont want to see her demonized for#idk being a traumatized angry woman like!! it seems outta place for that to be the message but#whatever im rambling ive lost the plot#my post

!TOTK SPOILERS!
Idk if that's still a necessary disclaimer it's been out for a while but I wanna talk about it and something that annoys me concerning enemy/boss variety.
I love totk but they really milked tf out of that phantom Ganon boss battle. The first time you encounter gloom hands you probably freak out and run away, and then later go back to kill them. You assume you can just kill the hands and be done with it, but upon doing so you see the "PHANTOM GANON" boss health bar appear. It's a really surprising and scary moment, and the phantom Ganon fight is plenty engaging on its own. But now you know the hand's secret, and killing them in the future no longer surprises you, which is fine.
But later, in your search for the master sword you'll probably head to the lost woods, and once you get there you realize you can't get in through the fog like you could in botw. Finding an alternate route via the depths and realizing the deku tree is possessed was really cool, and I was excited to see what sort of monster was hiding in its roots. It was a neat callback to Gohmas role in oot and I was hoping for a similarly interesting parasite miniboss. So you ready yourself, jump into the depths below the tree, and... oh. It's phantom Ganon again. Kind of lame but oh well, I suppose it was a bit silly to expect a whole new enemy just for this one area. (Granted older zelda games would probably have no problem doing this but oh well these games take a lot more resources elsewhere.)
Later, you ascend to hyrule castle and have the encounter with ganondorfs zelda puppet. You make your way all throughout the whole castle fighting enemies until you reach the throne room, ideal spot for a boss fight. But again, instead of a unique fight with puppet zelda, it's phantom Ganon. In fact it's actually several phantom Ganons, all operating independently. I.. if your not already tired of this fight your almost certainly going to be after this.
To top it all off, at the end of the game you reach Ganondorf at the heart of the depths. After fighting off his army you enter his boss chamber, (this is slightly off topic but he's still a mummy? I sort of assumed he'd be lying in wait throughout the game, building his strength to return to his human or demon king form, but he's just been chilling in a state of basically dead? And when you enter he changes back on command? Why didn't he do that before? What?) Anyway, you start the fight with ganondorf, and waddya know he uses the same weapons and moves as his phantom Ganon fight. Granted, I believe he does change things up a bit and I thought it was kind of cool that they were connected in that way, and overall I really enjoyed the fight, but it still just sits wrong with me.
Overall I still enjoyed the game and I don't consider myself a totk hater by any means, and anyone is free to disagree with me on anything, but I've been thinking about this and I wanted to post my thoughts even if no one bothers to read this. (Also I didn't proofread sorry if it's confusing)

I saw somebody has done Yttd cast in Undertale before but I want to share some ideas about which Yttd character could act as which Undertale character. Of course, there's too many monsters so this is mainly about bosses and minibosses. Also this is long and yttd characters are sometimes repeated as they can serve several roles.
Sara is great for the role of Frisk simply because she has capacity both for sparing and killing. Goddess of Victory or Angel of Death, who will she choose to be? And without a doubt Sara is DETERMINED (Or there's another variant, Kanna, a kind child that will find approach to everybody. However, I don't see anybody trying to kill her there, as well as her even having a thought about killing.)
Kai can be Toriel for several reasons: he is housemaker, he is tied to Sara, so in this AU he can become her guardian for some time. Moreover, Kai has notable bond with Q-Taro and Gashu, both of which could fit Asgore. Imagine him betraying Asunaro and making sure humans survive. Or arguing with Q-Taro about morals.
Depending on the story Shin could match Napstablook when he's being his meek shy self. Just listening to music, not feeling up to anything, creating akward situations and lying on the floor. I can picture him doing it. Additionally, Ranmaru has similar vibe. Not the type to communicate with many, true introvert with deep insecurities... Why not?
Keiji is definitely Sans and I can't see it otherwise (well there could be other options but still I love Keiji as Sans). He is constantly tired, a bit lazy, has a fair share of mysteries, same ambience I would say. Keiji loves pushing responsibility onto Sara due to his trauma and consequent self-hate, Sans does nothing in genocide until the very end wheт majority is dead. Plus who is better to judge our protagonist than a policeman?
Joe is Papyrus, I don't make the rules... Well, Gin could act as Papurus as well, but let's at first talk about Joe. He is nice and funny, he befriends Sara easily, he literally can't kill her. He can have a brotherly relationship with Keiji considering "Mr. Policeman is Joe's dad" theory. The only downside is Papyrus can be killed and I don't see Sara killing her bestie in any way, even for survival. Maybe he is a doll and no longer a human?..
As to Gin, he is better as Monster kid in my mind. Curious, energetic teenager that admires strong, reliable and absolutely cool Reko (who's Undyne). Gin really trusts Sara, he is naїve to the point of believing her even in genocide route. Or maybe an annoing dog is also appliable, as Gin's stims include barking (and his desing, his Meow chan that is allegedly a dog) and the dogsong is perfect theme for Gin.
So, Reko as Undyne. Strong in every sense, fighting for her people's sake, brave, plays piano... Not to mention her relationship with Nao-the-Alphys. The thing is, would Reko kill a human for her people? Maybe not, she is quite kind. Especially if said human is Sara. Unless there is some misunderstanding... (I actually would argue Sara is a better fit for Undyne as she is samurai woman fighter type and she can be colder).
I haven't mention dummies before, but I totally picture Anzu as Temmie. Cute, sweet, funny, just good old Temmie.
I nerly forgot about Mad Dummy! In my book Ranger fits the bill here: an artifitial being that is really jealous of humans and hates them for it. He's sarcastic, extremelly rude, ready to kill. Also imagine that in the Ruins we encounter Dummy of Sei that Kai is keeping due to grief and memories, but now it ends up here as Ranger with consciousness but no soul.
Then we move to Hotland. Nao is a good Alphys in my book: a bit dependent, insecure, still striving to become better. Plus I want to give Mishima a Gaster role, so they share connection. (On the second thought, Safalin would make a compelling Alphys as well: she is actually a scientist, she has far more self-deprication as crying doll, she has many sceletons in the closet with questionable experiments).
There's little info on Gaster as well as on Mishima. Royal scientist whose genuis was unparalleled and that fell in lava (burning again?). Though Meister, whose role is still unclear, may look more like Gaster and have the same air of mystery.
For Muffet there are two worthy candidates: Mai and Maple. Both are acquainted with cuisine, both are extra sweet with their words, I think both can be persuasive about the product (it's Mai's profession, and you can't refuse to drink tea in disscussion room so Maple's capable of it as well). And of course you should never underestimate either of girls.
Mettaton... the star of the show, daring, flashy, attractive... Alice was in the band, his desing (in usual sprites just hair) is quite colorful, not to mention his physique, so why not? That would mean interesting relationship with Reko, who's his neighbor. Plus he could be a doll as Mettaton is an artifitially created robot. Maybe Nao/Safalin/whoever's Alphys created him to help Reko, they reconciled and Alice found his own path.
We are nearing the end. Asgore is morally gray character who killed children, regrets it but ready to repeat the deed for the sake of his country. As was mentioned previosly, either Q-Taro or Gashu could fit his role: Q-Taro because of appearance, kindhearted nature but ability to commit not the most ethical actions. I can also insert joke about killing kids (no matter how you interpret Q-Taro's words in the first main game, part of fandom will bring it up). Gashu had done even more morally reprehensible things for his "community" Asunaro. Plus, Gashu literally had a foster child that died (Sei, Ranger's inspiration).
I didn't mention Flowey because his story blossoms only in the end and depending on the person I replace him with the story becomes drastically different. The first one is Shin because firstly, I am biased toward him, secondly, Asriel essentially is bound to return to his flower form (kind of 0% to be truly happy), thirdly, they were both inicially kinder and due to horrible circumstances became worse. But yet they can become better. Moreover, roses. Maybe Kanna here was killed, and from sheer grief Shin turned into a rose? Alternatively, Ranger matches as well: he can't feel positive emotions just as Flowey doesn't feel them (I don't remember specifics but something along these lines). Plus, Sei was killed being a small kid just like Asriel and he has familial connections to Kai-the-Toriel and Gashu-the-Asgore (this sounds extra weird, nobody here is shipped of course. Just in case).
What about the souls and remaining dead people? I think some of the dead could be these souls: Kurumada as Bravery (he is boxer and this soul has gloves), Megumi or Mr. Policeman as Justice (police is supposed to make sure justice prevails), Hayasaka as Perseverance (he looks a bit nerdy and has glasses), Hinako as... Patience? (the real one), Kanna if dead can definitely be Kindness, Kugie as Integrity? Honestly, we know little about these guys so the arrangement can vary a lot.
Finaly, Chara. Maybe I'll do their character an injustice, but imagine them as Midori. When Frisk Sara is in the end of genocide, she sees Midori, a demon that is resurrected by her cruelty. He enjoyed every bit of it. Plus, then dynamic Chara Midori and Asriel Shin becomes quite intriguing (and messed up). Or maybe Kanna could be Chara as well, a kid that met a friend (or foster brother. Oh even a real one) in the underground and then died.

(Art by Vale!)
I had a dream last night about a new Darkest Dungeon 2 roving boss called the Cock-of-the-Walk, a gigantic mutated chicken that could appear to harass any party that entered a road battle without any food in their inventory. However, it'd make more sense as a miniboss or even alternate boss in the Foetor, replacing the Harvest Child or appearing in Resistance Encounters. The dream was fairly detailed with its behaviors and abilities, so I wrote it down in several discord servers to share with friends. When one actually drew the damn thing, I had to try my hand at statting it out.
So click below to see the boss stats for this thing
Base stats:
Max HP: 110
Speed: 10
Sz 1
1 turn/round
20% Bleed Resist / 60% Blight Resist / 20% Burn Resist
40% Stun Resist / 10% Move Resist / 40% Debuff Resist
20% Deathblow Resist
Attacks:
Fox in the Henhouse: Free action; always the first move used in battle; summons 3 Fierce Foxes, then moves CotW to rank 4.
Hunt and Peck: Usable in ranks 2, 3, and 4. Targets player ranks 3 or 2; crit rate 15%. Moves forward 1, deals 5~10 damage, attempts to daze the target and pull them forward 1. If the target has combo, they're paralyzed instead of dazed.
Chicken Scratch: Usable in all ranks. Targets player ranks 3, 2 or 1; if the target has combo, it also affects a random adjacent hero. Crit rate 10%, +10% vs combo. Moves forward 1, deals 4~8 damage and attempts to inflict a 3x3 bleed and pull the initial target forward 1.
Foul Fowl: Usable in ranks 2 and 3. Targets ranks 4, 3, and 2; crit rate 5%. Moves back 1, deals 3~6 damage and attempts to inflict a 3x3 blight; any targets with combo can be shuffled.
Cock-A-Doodle-Doom: Usable in rank 1. Targets ranks 3, 2, and 1; no crit rate. Clears ALL corpses and summons 1 Fierce Fox. Moves back 3, deals 6~16 damage, and attempts to inflict 1~3 stress to each affected hero.
-----
FIERCE FOXES
Max HP: 15
Speed: 3
Sz 1
1 turn/round
10% Bleed Resist / 35% Blight Resist / 10% Burn Resist
20% Stun Resist / 10% Move Resist / 20% Debuff Resist
No Deathblow Resist
Attacks:
Outfox: Usable from any rank. Targets any player rank; 10% crit rate. Deals 2~5 damage and attempts to inflict 1 of blind, daze, weak, vulnerable, or combo. Attempts to inflict a second negative token if it critically hits.
Over the Lazy Dog: Usable from rank 4. Targets rank 1; no crit rate. Moves forward 3, grants self a speed and dodge token. inflicts combo on the target.
Sly as a...: Usable from rank 1. Targets rank 1. Moves backwards 3, deals 3~7 damage, and transfers one of the target's positive tokens to the CotW. Consumes combo.
Give No Fox: Usable from any rank. Targets the CotW if it's adjacent to the Fox. Deals a flat 10 damage to the CotW, purges two negative tokens, and grants it two random positive tokens. Deals 0~1 stress damage to entire party. If a combo token is present on the CotW, it is removed and the CotW gains 3x5 regeneration.
Notes:
Killing the CotW causes it to drop a Delicious Chicken Dinner, a party-wide food item that restores 4 stress, 20% HP, and cures diseases. It grants a flat +10 max HP and +15% resist to ALL resistance stats until the next inn.
Full boss CotW drops one of two trophies: The Tended Flock, which increases party maximum HP by 20%, and disease and blight resist by 50% so long as there's no food in your inventory; and the Empty Nest, which increases food stacking by 6 per stack and causes more food to drop from any encounter which could drop it
If the CotW is instead killed by a Fierce Fox, the party takes 3 stress each and becomes afflicted by a +10% meltdown chance and a +10% chance to form negative relationships until the next inn. The party has special barks when Give No Fox is used to inform players that they should not allow it to die to the foxes. A Fox will attempt to use Give No Fox if the CotW began its turn with at least one negative token or a combo token (including and especially the ones it gains by entering Death's Door); the attack can miss if the Fox is blinded, or the CotW has a dodge token.
And yes the constant running around is like a chicken with its head cut off.

I've had a Eureka moment. So I have been struggling hard with coming up for better branding and theming for dapperkobold's "shoulder mounted turret warframe" submission, and then I finally had a breakthrough!! One of the suggestions infestedslime made was a murmur based warframe and combining the two works perfectly! This frame was lost in The Indifference and parasitized by the murmur until they became indistinguishable. As for the shoulder turret itself it's loosely based on the murmur miniboss The Severed Warden which is attached to the warframe's back

you know you know yoo nw. elden ring thoughts but like. i wouldnt say its "underrated" at all cuz i think a lot of ppl generally feel this but, its just not rlly specifically talked abt much
But godricks castle is a really fucking cool place. like my first time through i went through a fairly linear path, doing little side branches, chipping through the area, and eventually beating godrick, and moving on
But then i went back and combed through it more. theres a crucible knight you can fight if you drop down off the side of castle wall. theres several places where scaling across the ramparts or rooftops lets you navigate the area a little different and also has some more hidden spots to find items. theres an entire section with a miniboss at the depths of the castle
Like its one of those areas that slowly just reveals how its so much bigger than i initially thought. theres so much going on...

Fun facts
Some fun facts you didn't know about the game:
The torches found in the Underwhere, and that we can light with the help of Bowser, only last 40 seconds on.
Tumblr media
Another references to other Super Mario games:
In chapter 3-4 we can find many references, all of these are:
Francis has a Famicom, a Super Nintendo Entertainment System, a Virtual Boy, a Nintendo 64, a Nintendo GameCube, a Game Boy if (the player turns of 3D) a Wii.
Francis has a large number of posters featuring Lady Bow and Bootler (this marks Lady Bow's second cameo in Super Paper Mario), Petuni, Princess Peach, and other less identifiable characters.
Mega Koopa is identical to a Koopa Troopa de Super Mario Bros. en NES.
Big Blooper is a miniboss in The Tile Pool; Bloopers have had at least a mini-boss role in every Paper Mario game to date.
Bowser declares that there will be no more sequels; Many Mario games have at least one sequel, and Bowser is defeated in all Paper Mario sequels.
Francis is a big fan of certain television shows, whose names are full of references to characters from the Paper Mario series, like The Blubbening, which apparently involves  Tubba Blubba (In this way, Super Paper Mario becomes the third consecutive Paper Mario game to appear). at least mention a giant Spike in their corresponding third chapters), Starship X-Naut, apparently focusing on the X-Nauts, and The Grodus Chronicles, which seems to feature Sir Grodus.
The overworld music has several interludes, in which segments of the Super Mario Bros theme can be clearly heard.
The player must take the second Warp Pipe in the Warp Zone-like area to advance the level, which may be a reference to Super Mario Bros., as Mario or Luigi must take the second pipe in the Warp Zone if they wish to take a shortcut to World 3.
Fort Francishas some bars of music similar to those of Paper Mario, specifically, the music resembles the music track of Shiver Mountain. ((If you were curious to know what the song sounds like, here is the link: https://youtu.be/5aaH9mOd-gI?si=ZqvpFzXmjzU1DB9d ).

The mirror hall in Flipside is called Mirror Mansion and Mansion Rorrim in Flopside. The eight colored blocks are, from left to right: red (#1), orange (#2), yellow (#3), green (#4), light blue (#5), dark blue (#6), purple (#7) and black (#8). All blocks are unlit initially. The goal is to light all blocks.
Hitting #1 changes the state of #1, #3, #5, #6 and #8.
Hitting #2 changes the state of #1, #2, #4, #6 and #7.
Hitting #3 changes the state of #1, #3, #4, #5 and #7.
Hitting #4 changes the state of #2, #3, #4, #5 and #8.
Hitting #5 changes the state of #1, #2, #3, #5 and #7.
Hitting #6 changes the state of #4, #5, #6, #7 and #8.
Hitting #7 changes the state of #2, #3, #6, #7 and #8.
Hitting #8 changes the state of #1, #2, #4, #6 and #8.

Although the in-game hint (in the back alley of Flipside 1st Floor) is to hit all "Eight Blocks, Each Color Once", it is also possible to solve the puzzle by hitting just the orange (#2), yellow (#3), green (#4) and light blue (#5) blocks once.

I hope i didn't accidentally post this already, but Admins are, mostly, the minibosses of each team. Lore-wise, their position depends on the team in question, but they're almost always the second highest. They oversee the team operations, and are often considered extensions of the Boss's will, taking orders only from said Boss.
As an example: Team Plasma's "Admins" would have been the Seven Sages.
So, in a revived "Team Galaxy", Akari would be the Boss, Ingo would be an Admin (possibly with more authority than other Admins, despite being the same rank), and there would be several other Admins handing different aspects of the Team and their operations across the Region.
Now, that doesn't mean they're the only notable trainers, or even the strongest, they're just the ones in charge and are trusted to carry the Boss's will.
Oh! Ok I get it!
I think one of the funniest things about this team is that there’s so many grouping around and joining it in their own way to show support to Ingo and Akari, but at the same time the two their supporting don’t realizes much of if not any of this is going on. The team leaders have no idea they are team leaders!
Also I feel like early on there are heated debates on who’s the ‘Boss’ and who’s the ‘Admin’. There are so many who insist it should be Ingo. After all the man was already a Subway Boss! Others insist it should be Akari, she’s the crime niece! Then the battle with N happens and the Boss Akari side gains support. There’s of course the folks who also insist that they can both be bosses, as Ingo use to co-boss with his brother.
And do you know what the best part is? If someone asks Ingo and Akari who the boss of their team is the two will look at each other, nod, and then both point at Lady Sneaseler.
Boss Sneaseler is beloved and respected by all.

cuphead novel observations
Ms. Chalice shares the same backstory as her game counterpart, complete with her as-of-yet unexplained revival. This implies that the novels take place post-DLC.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, the cuptrio doesn't meet Glumstone until "Cuphead in A Mountain of Trouble". Since he's one of the Wondertart ingredient guardians, this implies that the cups were never sent out to fight them.
There is no indication that Saltbaker is, or has ever been, up to anything nefarious. As far as "Cuphead in Carnival Chaos" goes, he is who he appears to be: a goober friendly and brilliant, if perfectionistic.
Assuming that Chalice's revival wasn't a deus ex machina, what does this mean for the novels' continuity relative to the game? Either:
The novels take place in separate continuities. "Carnival Chaos" takes place after the base game & DLC, while "A Mountain of Trouble" is in its own timeline. Several of the carnival workers happen to be the casino minibosses, which could be explained by them leaving the casino after the cups defeat the Devil. The book was published before the DLC's release (2020 versus 2022); in order to avoid spoiling Saltbaker's role, none of its events are directly addressed even though they did happen in this timeline.
The novels take place in the same continuity, but one where events diverged slightly. Saltbaker obtained the Wondertart ingredients himself or sent the cups to fetch them from different sources. Then they fought him just like in the game.
One or both novels belong to a timeline where the events of the DLC never took place! Saltbaker found an ethical way to revive Chalice, no Wondertart required. The idea that he could have sidestepped the whole DLC from the start is so funny to me, bro really went and made everything 5000% more complicated for no reason.

lies of p seems determined to not gel with me. i feel like the difficulty curve is absolutely wild and all over the place. i made it through the first chunk of the game basically deathless, then hit a huge wall made zero progress was stuck for several days where i was getting wrecked by the add's and a miniboss, then i made it passed once again was having an absolute cake walk for the next couple of maps, then just hit another wall where i'm getting two shot by random enemies and not even minibosses anymore, what the fuck is happening here

12 for the weirdly specific questions!
What’s something that makes them laugh every single time? Be specific!
So, she doesn't really do full on laughs like, a lot. Bit more of a 'wry, knowing smile' type. To get a full laugh, it almost always has to be a surprise, to catch her off-guard enough that she can't stifle it.
Because of that, I'm having trouble coming up with anything that's a certainty. However, the things that are most likely to make her want to laugh: students (or fledglings) trying to do the 'scandalize the uptight professor' bit. any time a friend or ally manages to insult someone in such a way that the other party doesn't realize they were insulted. several of Quirky Miniboss Squad's antics. when terrible things happen to hunters. most of mia's shenanigans, tbh.
