Rewatched CAtU this weekend. SSBD was probably conceptually the most threatening villain to appear in the series and an interesting foil to Candace. I just wish she actually got to be the main threat at the climax of the movie rather than immediately giving up and having her mind-control plant inexplicably become sentient instead.

everything is still so good!!! heartbeat is super fast and strong and is now firmly in the upper band of healthy/normal. behold the little seahorse (now less seahorse-y because its tail is almost gone) floating around in there attached to its little yolk sac inner tube!!

okay I know we're all still REELING from the new episode, I just wanted to put my 2 cents in about the "oooo who is Ruby's parents???" debacle.

As a person who is not biologically related to both their parents, all I can say is: I hope it doesn't matter. I know the way they're building it up is going to lead to some major reveal or something...I just hope it's nothing. Just some couple. No major importance in the greater series.

I think Ruby can work as a character just fine (if not better) if they don't have a relation to a major character/figure. 🤷

i love the combative way yaz asks questions after s12. i dont think she does it so much in s12 but from halloween apocalypse on (im thinking of "so you know them, these sea devils?" or "yeah, what does quantum extraction mean?" rn but im sure there are more) her questions always feel half challenge half like shes already gearing up for a fight

But yes, I've became kind of sus(?) of doctors now. I have a lot of things I could tell, like when this newly appointed doctor gave her first med to her own grandma - which is a family's friend - and I turned pale after hearing what drug she gave her.

i think some doctors just get like disillusioned or whatever but its NO excuse for them to not know that there are salivary glands under the tongue or other very normal things to know. and then be v rude and dismissive about very normal concerns. but maybe the doctor did know what was going on and just wanted me out of the clinic asap.

but also ive had to point out like rlly normal anatomical things to doctors lately im wondering if walk in clinics are just hiring randos off indeed at this point LMAO

read a fic recently where the author was talking about lethal injection as a particularly humane death penalty and i totally get where people get that conception (it is very much on purpose) but it took just about everything I had not to go into the comments and info dump about how, actually, lethal injection is just designed to *seem* humane but in reality, there is no humane method of murder

What if the reason Vash has that metal grate on his chest is so doctors can't do X-rays or MRIs or other imaging tests? Dude's definitely gotten patched up by people assuming he's fully human while he was knocked out. The easiest way to make sure they don't get a surprise look at whatever his alien internal organ situation is by making sure they can't use the normal machines for any tests, if they even have the machines for it in the first place. And he's already got all that metal imbedded in him, so what's a little more? Especially if his heart situation is, uh, different from humans. Like a different amount, or different placement.

Chibnall seriously fumbled the Doctor's scene with Graham at the end of 'Can You Hear Me?'. (Not that I KNOW chib wrote it, but I'm going to blame him bcs it's an era wide issue.) This scene is seriously painful to watch. A companion opening up to the Doctor emotionally has never (as far as I know) been given such a lackluster reply, especially about a serious actually scary real world topic like cancer. The lack of compassion in this reply is seriously glaring when you compare it to other similar conversations with companions.

Conversations with Donna about her importance have been met with encouragement for her. 11's sweet interaction with River when she broke her wrist in Angels Take Manhattan (although that was received negatively by River). In these other interactions, the Doctor shows real compassion toward their companion, but during this scene, when Graham is extremely vulnerable with her, she basically brushes him off to talk about how she "should" say something to reassure him.
