Bruce Wayne: do you think I should…go to the…hospital? 🥺
Jim Gordon, who’s spent the last three hours trying to prevent the Joker from blowing up all of Gotham’s hospitals: you don’t watch a lot of television, do you, Mr. Wayne?

I know you are a fan of Bucky, and that’s fine, but for me Steve Rogers has always been my favorite character.
It’s 99% due to Chris’ performance. I never cared about the MCU or avengers until I watched TWS and I realized how fantastic a job he did. I also love every variation of Steve so that includes the animated skinny versions of him in what if and voiced by other people. But his performance in the MCU caused me look up other versions of Steve and I love them all.
I had only known him to be Johnny storm (which I also never watched but seeing the commercials back in 2004 was enough for me to be like pass) and I had no opinion about him. I have since watched both 2000s FF movies and actually find them hilarious. He’s the best part in those films for me.
But after I saw him play cap I watched all the MCU films and and the cap trilogy is the only one I will still watch.
Before that, I hated comic book movies and the dark knight was the only comic movie I liked.
Looking back, rewatching TDK now I’m over it. It’s way too long and I really only am here for heath’s performance as joker. It’s interesting to see how I could love a film so much ten years ago but change my mind when in my mind, I saw a better film years later.
But the cap trilogy has my heart. I have probably seen all three movies about combination of 30 times.
It doesn’t get old for me. And for me, it’s because of him.
So if he can have that impact on someone who had no interest in the genre or even him before seeing those films, I say he did something with his career.
It’s why I still am rooting for him. I believe he has a future yet and I simply do not care if people disagree with me.
Don’t say I didn’t tell y’all first. His time will come.
❤️ your blog, Jen!
I love this! I don't hate Steve. In fact the reason I watched CATFA is because of Chris. I had been a casual fan of Sebastian's, so was pleasantly surprised to see him as well.
I don't think anyone could have done Steve the way Chris did. Chris has amazing talent. He demands attention when he's on screen, and your eyes naturally find him. He's charismatic. But there seems to be a dull in his passion for acting, and I'm wondering if it is because of the negative reviews, or even lack of view he's gotten.
I will die on the hill that he deserved more recognition for both Defending Jacob AND Pain Hustlers. Chris was the best part of that movie. I'm hoping with him branching out of his comfort zone we get some amazing performances from him.

Has it really been 6 days since I posted something? Huh. Anyway, I was working on something I meant to post 4 days ago. It’s basically done, I’ll post it tomorrow probably.
It took so long cause I got distracted, drew hot vampire boy Bruce Wayne, rewatched TDK, and now am in the middle of drawing the whole Two-Face hospital scene.
…I’ll keep you posted on that!

The Dark Knight (2008)
(Minor spoilers)
Tumblr media
The best comic book movie, ironicaly by being the least "comic booky". Director Christopher Nolan set out to make a Batman film that felt real; that felt like it could actually happen. Batman Begins was really good; but its sequel TDK still stands as my favourite CBM (comic book movie) of all time.
From the thrilling opening sequence, the pacing never let's up, and it feels like there isn't a single frame of wasted film. The only minor nitpick is that since it's not a fun & cheerful movie, and incredibly dense, it loses some rewatchability.
From the tiny details of burning the accoutnat alive or the pencil murder, Heath Ledger's performance really sells this. He really did deserve that posthumous Oscar, creating an engaging and unnerving Joker. His death especially tragic here since he was clearly a franchise villian; better than any I've seen (Homelander is on his level, but that's about it). The entire cast was fantastic, but the practical effects & very sparing use of CGI Nolan insisted on also help keep with the incredible immersion.
I didn't know CBMs could be that good.
A++, 10/10

outsider pov fic but it’s just the accountant Batman kidnapped from the top of a skyscraper in China and flew on an illegal smuggling plane back to Gotham and dumped on the steps duct-taped with a sign for Jim Gordon. like what did they talk about on the way home, I’m dying

I feel like shit (woke up today even sicker than before) so is till can't answer anyone but a while ago one of my mutuals tagged me in a "what's your comfort movies" and I've been thinking about it and how to answer that, and today I came across a short on yt with best improvisation and of course there's Heath Ledger.
so long story short, I need to rewatch The Dark Knight, my beloved. As great as Phoenix is as Joker, the pace of the movie is too slow for me, so it can't even come close to how much I love TDK.

Partner and I rewatched The Dark Knight the other night. For years, I've been of the opinion that it's a fine movie, but hasn't aged as well as folks would like it to have, and based on this rewatch, I maintain my position.
We paused the movie like a dozen times to discuss acting choices, line delivery, scenes that made no sense or seemed like they could have been written another way and so an almost three hour long movie (which honestly started to drag a bit at the end there) ended up taking closer to four. But it was fun just to hash it out and get into the nitty gritty, especially since it has been probably a decade since I saw that movie last. In the intervening years, my partner was in Chicago for a work trip at one point and visited a ton of the locations featured, so he had lots to say about some of these places IRL -- like one of the bars they filmed in seems to cater specifically to TDK tourism, and the scene where Harvey comes out as Batman at a press conference is actually just a corner of the lobby of a pretty boring, small hotel, haha. I doubt this is a hot take anymore, but Heath Ledger's Joker performance is still kinda lacking for me, personally; with all respect to him, it just ain't my Joker.
With regards to my favorite lil guy, even though it is literally just a few minutes on screen, I really love Scarecrow's cameo at the beginning. It one thousand percent stands to reason that after having been heavily dosed by his own shit, completely restrained while he comes down, breaking out of Arkham on a police horse Tim Sale style and getting tazed in the face, he'd retreat to god knows where and start over from square one. Scarecrow selling drugs in one form or another is totally a thing he does in the comics, time and again, and the fact that he's selling to the mob (specifically a prevalent mob leader that we see multiple times throughout the movie) indicates to me that he must not be doing too badly for himself. Honestly, even though we see him presumably being left for arrest in the parking deck, on this rewatch it occurred to me that in the scene with The Joker approaching Maroni and Gambol and The Chechen and all the other mob bosses while they're in a video conference with Lau....like I kind of half expect to see Scarecrow and a couple of goons in the background, just being there -- It wouldn't even need a speaking role or anything, really, but idk I can just imagine him having eluded authorities after he's left in that parking deck (as one does when a Batman villain) and cropping back up like a weed. As a sidenote, god, can you imagine him in a sentencing hearing, when he IS arrested? Like a role reversal of the scene with Zsaz in Batman Begins? Ugh that would be so delicious. This isn't even taking into consideration the whole "exile or death" thing in Rises. I just love imagining how someone who worked within and manipulated the system for years might attempt to gain an advantage when in his position.
Anyway, that's enough rambling for now, just some thoughts I wanted to get out of my brain!
