Here, time is an illusion.

There is no passing of time here, no minutes moving forward -  instead, there is just deflection - seconds that seem to crash into the next, movement that seems to come instinctually, pain that is too blinding to acknowledge and only sounds of scrapes and flashes of light and bruises and blood - -

The Bloodmoon Huntress is just as fast as Rayla remembered as a kid. Time is Kim'dael’s ally as sanguine vitality runs through her veins. Stolen blood pumps through her insides allowing her movesets to be stealthier, faster, stronger, deadlier - and the younger Moonshadow Elf is doing everything in her power to keep up.

Behind, Rayla catches a brief glimpse of the altar, stained dark and dirty with several empty phials lined up. 

There is a break in the fighting, and Rayla knows all too well that relief can be costly and fleeting. “You know,” Kim’dael drawls, haughty and slow. The elf draws in a sharp breath as she steadies herself. She leers the Bloodmoon Huntress dead in the face, trying her best to appear unafraid. “It’s quite flattering really,” the demented creature quips, a slim shoulder rising to match her casual tone of voice. 

There is a pause - a cruel tactic. She knows Rayla is weak, her strength barely hanging on, and the reprieve will cause the adrenaline to soon fade. 

And then, Kim’dael wickedly smiles. Her sharp, unnatural canines flicker against the dark shadows of her lair. “Rarely do I get visitors daft enough to come back .” 

And Rayla sees red .
