Energy Drinks by Twinsimming 🥤

This mod adds custom Energy Drinks to a new type of vending machine.

This is a script mod that can be placed in your Packages folder. It was built and tested on 1.69 but should work fine on 1.67.

- Price: §1250 - Category: Large Appliances - Includes all 11 original swatches + 1 recolorable option (3 channels) - Poly Count: 2346 - Originally created for The Sims 4 by RAVASHEEN, converted to The Sims 3 by me

Like the vending machines that came with University Life, sims can Buy Energy Drink, Shake Machine, or Slam Machine.

Energy Drinks

Teen and older sims can purchase energy drinks from the Soda-Lightful Vending Machine for §5 each.

Energy drinks boost the Energy need, give sims the custom Energy Rush moodlet, and remove any moodlets related to low Energy (Tired, Sleepy, Exhausted, Buzz Crashed, etc.), similar to drinking coffee, but the effect lasts twice as long (6 hours instead of 3 hours).

Drinking multiple energy drinks in a row will boost how long the Energy Rush moodlet lasts, as well as increase the moodlet's value, up to 18 hours and +30 mood.

Once the Energy Rush moodlet expires, sims get the custom negative Energy Crash moodlet.

Side Effects

If your sim goes more than 24 hours without another energy drink, they'll start to suffer from caffeine withdrawal and gain the custom negative Craving Caffeine moodlet for the next 2 days. Drinking coffee, tea, barista bar beverages, or another energy drink will remove this moodlet.

Drinking more than 2 energy drinks at a time also carries the risk of a sim being electrocuted and dying.

Teens and Elders both have a 5% chance of being electrocuted, while YA have a 1% chance and Adults have a 3% chance.

Flavors

There are 8 different energy drinks to choose from. 6 provide flavor-related moodlets from the snow cone machine from Seasons and the bubble blower from Late Night. These moodlets last for 4 hours.

The Unidentified Fizzy Ooze energy drink replenishes Alien brain power, but makes non-Aliens nauseous.

The last energy drink is called Mystery Flavor and it works like the jelly bean bush from Supernatural; including carrying the risk of death, so proceed with caution.

New Moodlets

Energy Rush: Given when sims drink an energy drink, lasts 6 hours, +10, +20, or +30 mood

Energy Crash: Given when the Energy Rush moodlet expires, lasts 7 hours, -15 mood

Craving Caffeine: Given when sims go more than 24 hours without another caffeinated drink, lasts 2 days, -30 mood

If you want to turn a different vending machine into an energy drink vending machine, open your desired object in s3pe and replace the current script name with the following:

Conflicts & Known Issues

This is a new scripted object, so there shouldn’t be any conflicts.

All of the drink cans are different colors when placed in the world and during the drinking animation, but they all have a red can icon when placed in a sim's inventory. I'm not sure how to fix this right now, but that should be the only issue of note.

first loves

Kimberly Hart Stratton pulled her sleek, shiny red BMW into a parking space and parked. She contemplated leaving her engine running because she wasn’t sure if she should stay or even be here but finally she cut the engine off.

Her worried brown eyes looked into the rear view mirror at her 14 year old daughter Krissie who slept soundly now in the back seat. She looked around at all the familiar spots this place held for her, The former Angel Grove gym and juice bar now a Karate Dojo. The basketball courts still remained that she and her friends once played. The rock she sat upon when she sadly told her best friend Trini that her parents would be divorcing soon was still there and her heart winced at the thought even still. So long ago she left this place she called home to attend the pan global games in gymnastics. It took her far indeed in life and eventually to the Olympics where she won a Silver medal on bars and a Gold on beam, that had always been her specialty. After that, she had entered the world of acting and was now a world famous name… Kimberly Stratton the Oscar winning actress. It was about an hour drive from her Beverly Hills home to Angel Grove, and the drive did her good too let her mind think clearly. Her husband writer and best selling author and former olympic gymnast Aiden Stratton and she were in the middle of a heated divorce that was all over the tabloids also of the affair he had had with another actress. 1 year before Kimberly and Aiden had lost their young 3 year old son Joshua when he drown in their home pool. Aiden, away on a book promotion and Kim away in Ireland filming her romance movie. Aiden had bitterly blamed her for the accident saying she should have been there that week with their son. Kim’s director had called only 2 days before saying he needed her in Ireland as he had made some rewrites for her character Bridget.

“If only I had stayed home”. Her mind screamed “My sweet baby boy”

She yanked her mind back to the present, her therapist was right… she had to forgive herself. She slowly and quietly as she could opened the door and got out and walked around up to the front of the building.

Life had been so simple here in Angel Grove, she thought. She was teen queen of her school and Pink Power Ranger. She had the cutest guy in school as her boyfriend… Tommy Oliver, her life had been simply perfect.

For a moment she wished she had never left.“How different my life would be…We might even be married to each other” she smiled a slight smile and then wondered where he was and what he was doing right now.

She had not dared to contact him after his angry letter he had sent her for ending their relationship the way she did, stating how she broke his heart and he was not sure he could ever forgive her. Sure, she checked in on him from time to time on Facebook but she hadn’t had time or done so recently, She had always wanted to send him a friendship request but she always chickened out at the last moment. His page was very private and without being friends she couldn’t see too much. Only that he had 2 kids, a boy whom looked just like him and a daughter..a blonde daughter.

“I wonder where she gets that blonde hair from”? she wondered “ Certainly not from him or his family.” she thought

She pulled her sleek iPhone out of her purse and hit the facebook app. She typed in his name in the search and he popped up immediately. Still the page was on private but he had changed his header image to himself at the beach with his kids. He had the same long dark hair she remembered, he looked the same just older and not as boyish but still handsome. It made her feel good that he was happy and had such a good life. She just desperately wished she could talk to him, after all he had been her best friend at one time but that was a lifetime ago. What would he say if she just hit the send friend request button? After a few more minutes she got back into her car and noticed her daughter was stirring awake.

“Mom”? Where are we”? She moaned sleepily

“Were in Angel Grove honey” she replied smiling back at her in the mirror”

“ That small town where you are from”? She asked still looking groggy

“Yes, I just needed to get away for a little bit” She said turning around to look at her young daughter who was basically a carbon copy of herself at that age.

Krissie had long auburn brown hair , she was super slim with a radiant smile. She was a gymnast just like her parents but made it clear her ambition was to be an actress like her mom, her own personal heroine. Kimberly put her phone back into her purse and started the car she decided they were going to get a hotel room for the few days close by, she was unaware that when she put her phone away she hit the friendship request button on Tommys page.

Episode 41: Horror Club

"Take it down a notch.”

I don’t dislike Horror Club because it focuses on Lars and Ronaldo, two of my least favorite characters on this show at this point. Lars and Ronaldo are two of my least favorite characters on this show at this point because of episodes like Horror Club.

I would’ve loved to love this episode. Expanding the backstories of the show’s two most grating characters could’ve given us actual insight beyond “they were lousy kids and now they’re lousy teenagers whose lousiness made them drift apart.” We could’ve gotten concrete character development instead of waiting around for these two to start growing for a couple more seasons (a wait that will only pay off for Lars). And in terms of the episode’s specific subject: the end of a childhood friendship is heavy stuff, but something I thought this show would handle better than this.

Instead, crammed into Season 1′s otherwise incredible final stretch is an episode about a cruel bully and a victim that honestly isn’t much better. We’re asked to empathize with them, and I vaguely do, but only when each has to deal with the other. Their consistent awfulness in the present and the past is so at odds with the rest of the lovable-but-flawed denizens of Beach City that I always skip this one on rewatch.

After following Sadie to Ronaldo’s horror movie marathon, Lars spends the whole night mercilessly mocking Ronaldo at every opportunity. What a jerk! Then we then learn that as children, Lars was ashamed of his friendship with Ronaldo and abandoned him. What a jerk! Considering this, and Lars’s general behavior towards Steven, the show seems to want us to sympathize with Ronaldo. But when Ronaldo thinks a poltergeist that swallowed Sadie is haunting Lars, he tries to murder Lars and would have succeeded if Steven wasn’t around.

And when they were kids, and Lars got smacked in the face by a plank, Ronaldo didn’t pay any attention to Lars’s physical well-being; ignoring the obvious humiliation of publishing the photo is bad, but ignoring an injured friend’s pain is way worse.

Who in their right mind wouldn’t try to get away from this guy? Even looking beyond his obnoxious personality, his impulse to put his desires over the needs of others seems to be a lifelong issue.

Lars and Ronaldo are both awful here, but Ronaldo gets no comeuppance for his often dangerous selfishness. We may empathize with a bullied character, but bullied kids really shouldn’t be taught that the solution is attacking their tormentors with potentially lethal force. Like the profoundly misguided Island Adventure, the lesson here is that if somebody hurts you, it’s okay to hurt them more. It’s the total opposite of what this show stands for.

Calling Ronaldo out on his actions in the same manner as Lars would’ve gone a long way towards improving this episode, as it would not only provide a better lesson, but could lead to positive character growth; instead, Ronaldo remains stuck in an immature and frankly violent rut (but it’s okay, he’s kooky!). At the very least we could’ve made one or the other more sympathetic by the episode’s end, but their mutual awfulness ruins even that. Ronaldo’s fun reversal of the header quote on Lars in the final scene, playing off the fact that both teens are a bit much, deserves a better episode than this.

Sadie and Steven get the shaft here, which is a real shame considering this is the first Lars and Sadie episode since the aforementioned Island Adventure and it’d be nice to have some redemption. Sadie’s only real role is to move the plot: Lars only goes to the lighthouse to hang out with her, then he and Ronaldo compete over her attention, then she gets damsel-in-distressed to make the boys fight more. Is this the right show? I thought this was Steven Universe, the one where sexist gender roles are thrown out the window.

But at least we get some new peeks into Sadie’s personality, showcasing her enthusiasm for horror and exploring her headlong approach to danger. Steven’s only real role is to be our window, because we need him to see what’s happening; otherwise, Horror Club presents a foggy view of our lead. He stands up to Lars’s bullying, but this doesn’t faze his naive assumption that everyone is friends with Lars. He’s too scared to watch a grisly horror movies despite maintaining his nerves during actual monster fights on a regular basis, including the likes of Frybo. Despite having experienced Keep Beach City Weird, an entire episode about how all the magical stuff in Beach City is Gem-related, he freaks out and thinks that a magical event isn’t Gem-related.

And when he’s not inconsistent, he’s just dull. Maybe the crew didn’t want to take the focus from Lars and Ronaldo, but despite its flaws, compare this to how well Island Adventure splits the focus between side character Steven and the non-Steven leads. Lars and Sadie were still front and center there, but Steven got tons to do in the background. Here he’s just going through the motions.

The most damning problem of Horror Club is that Lars and Ronaldo both manage to leave it worse characters than when they entered. Lars gets to morph from standard jerk to relentless bully, and on top of the aforementioned Ronaldo issues, our conspiracy buff is shown to be a complete idiot: why does he not immediately suspect Steven as a part of the Diamond Authority (y’know, that conspiracy that he himself thought of) after witnessing him magically whisk away a Gem firsthand? Ronaldo’s whole identity is clinging to every shred of evidence that agrees with his preexisting worldview, and Keep Beach City Weird established that his preexisting worldview is that polymorphic sentient rocks are pulling the strings. And we can’t even get that right?

This episode is overwhelmingly unpleasant, from Ronaldo’s cringey freakout about the original Evil Bear II to Lars’s repugnant stream of toxicity. Even the horror itself is lame compared to the likes of Frybo and Rose’s Room and anything with Cluster Gems. Still, there’s one good thing about it: nothing comes of the hinted Ronaldo/Sadie/Lars love triangle, so unlike plot-important misses like House Guest and Fusion Cuisine, Horror Club can be skipped without any consequences. I’m thrilled that this review is done so I can go back to never watching this one again.

Future Vision!

While it’s not necessary to watch Horror Club, I should note that it introduces Sadie’s love of horror, which serves as a pillar of her transformation into Sadie Killer. But we get that elsewhere, so all is well if this episode is ignored.

We’re the one, we’re the ONE! TWO! THREE! FOUR!

While I obviously didn’t like this one, at least its lead characters didn’t suddenly lose their core values to advance a single episode’s plot, which puts it ahead of Fusion Cuisine and House Guest. And while its message’s tainted execution is similar to Island Adventure’s, trivializing abuse is far worse than poorly portraying a failed friendship.

Still, it’s never good when I spend this section considering just how low I want an episode to go. For now, it’s the “best” of my least favorites.

From the outset, Dave York’s plan for his barn-find roadster was to preserve the car’s patina, although the body still required a bit of TLC due to the body and dash being damaged. Dave did not use a speck of body filler during the restoration process.

These three pictures tell the tale of this fantastic find. The first photo divulges the vehicle, still a roller, during the 1970s. Next, you can see its shell in the company of a second ’32. “That white roadster had been channeled a long time ago,” Dave explains, “but the floor and subrails were gone. How cool is this chopped top? The material was salvaged from a late-teens phaeton, once in the hands of the Harrah’s Collection. It had sustained water damage while in storage. “That stained fabric was a little weak and tore easily, so I had it double-laminated with modern Stay Fast canvas,” Dave says.

The engine and three-speed gearbox came from a ’39 Ford cabriolet, as its owner wanted to swap it for a more up-to-date V8. Dave thought he had purchased a stock 221ci engine, but after removing the stock iron heads, he soon discovered it was originally from a ’41 Mercury and thereby displaced 239 ci.

As you would expect, the motor has that “1940s hot rod appearance,” thanks to a pair of Navarro heads (bought by one of Dave’s friends from Barney Navarro before he passed away in 2007) and dual vintage Stromberg 97s with SP tops, bolted to an equally old Edelbrock Slingshot 2×2 manifold.

Much in the spirit of 1940s hot rods, Dave’s roadster relies on a stock, non-dropped axle. However, the use of ’40 Ford juice brakes in lieu of cable-activated drums was a fairly common practice. The car also retains its factory lever shocks, front and aft. Notice the nice overall finish of the chassis and components, painted satin black.

“My father John located an old brown love seat at a secondhand store,” Dave remembers. “I stripped it of its patina’d leather hide, and Bob Campbell whipped up a great pleated seat for me.” Bomber-style belts have been a hot rodder favorite since the early days of the hobby.

A ’37 Lincoln Zephyr supplied the steering wheel, while the column support came from another Lincoln, of ’32 vintage. For ease of mind, a couple of old Sun gauges (oil temp and fuel level) were discretely positioned under the dash. We dig the Yankee accessory turn signal switch as well.

A keeper of the “traditionalist” flame in British Columbia, Dave has also been known for his fantastic ’49 Ford cleverly built as a tribute to the mid-1950s custom cars. Its story begins 15 years ago when he purchased the shell of a Tudor sedan, primered and already chopped 3 inches by the previous owner. While managing to get his ride on the road fairly quickly, he was never satisfied with the top chop; so in 2009, he decided to completely revamp the vehicle. The roof lost another 3-inch slice, and the body received several alterations, such as moving the headlights forward 4 inches and installing ’51 Olds 98 taillights.
