Some Positivity

There’s been a lot o’ drama going around, hasn’t there? Everyone’s a h8er lately for whatever reason. Let’s be not haters for a second. 

Thank you to blessedbirdsong for introducing me to this incredible game, as well as the world of role play. 

The game itself is stunning, the attention to detail beyond anything I’ve seen. The questing is fun and well written, I’ve laughed and I’ve cried. (Not really, am stronk. But almost.) I’ve cheered. 

The dungeons are so great, each of them having a solid reason aside from “Hey, heard those guys got neat loots.” to go in and slay me some baddies. There are also mechanics in low level dungeons?! The primals are hands down the most fun I’ve ever had on a low level character in any MMO. 

The crafting, the lore, the races, the minigames, all of it is beyond compare. 

Then comes the RP. I’ve never RPd before I got dragged into FFXIV, and boyo is it fun. I get to be anyone? I get to create a neat story with friends? Step into the shoes of another as I watch their story unfold, not guided by me, but by them in a way. It’s surreal. The LS we’ve got running is an awesome opportunity to play a character that’s not your standard, and I’ve really run with it. Too much fun. 

And really, the community isn’t that bad. I’ve made a lot of really great friends already, and everyone has been super helpful. Sometimes we just need to take a step back, inhale, and think about why we play the game. Not specifics, not pve or RP or to be the best lore nerd of all time. Generally. To have fun, yeah? So let others have their fun. If you don’t agree with how they do it, don’t participate. But don’t try to change how they jive. Sure, offer a pointer if they seem willing. Forcing someone to conform to your idea of “fun” is just silly. Just smile for a minute and realize they’re enjoying themselves. Rejoice, there’s happiness out there in the world. Don’t stomp on it. Being happy can be infectious if you let it. Making others happy can be better than any drug out there if you want it to be. Some hippy one love jazz going on right now, but really. Next time you make someone LMAO or join them in RP or help them complete a dungeon, think about it. You’ve just made someone’s day better. How cool is that?
