“Segregation’s ‘Daft’ – Says Paul” (in the Tribune [Sydney, NSW], November 4, 1964)
From an interview with Tom Spence of the Daily Worker

THE Beatles want very much to help the fight against apartheid, but their problem is fitting in a free show.
“I may be putting my foot in it,” said Paul McCartney, “but it would be an idea to give them the proceeds from the premiere of our new film. We’re starting shooting next February. But, then, it might be booked already.”
Said John Lennon: “We’d do it because we agree with them.” (Those opposed to apartheid.)
It’s hard to think at a Beatles Press conference. A discussion on apartheid and segregation in the U.S. is virtually impossible.
Anti-apartheid
But, if you are lucky enough to get near them, all you can do is persevere. It’s not that they don’t want to talk, they just don’t have the time.
“We are willing to do a concert,” said Paul between camera clicks.
“What’s that?” queried George Harrison, by his side.
“Anti-apartheid. A concert for anti-apartheid.”
“Oh yes. A good thing.” Their attention was whisked away by other questions and ogling camera lenses.
They made their first public appearance since their American tour at the Bradford Odeon last week. It was the opening night of a series of one-night stands which will take them around the country.
Chaos. Flash bulbs popping, cameramen jockeying for position and jostling journalists poking each other black and blue in the ribs.
It is John’s 24th birthday. My five-year-old daughter, Karen, presented him with a birthday card. A horde of cameras clicking. “Smile,” and “Look this way.”
Stage fright. She forgets to sing “Happy Birthday” and clings, instead, to John’s neck.
“Stand her on the table,” suggests the photographer, somebody else shouts. “Hold her hand.” Back on his knee. The boys sing the song for her.
More camera work. American singer Mary Wells is with them now. A voice shouts above the din: “The last pictures. If you have any more questions, ask them now.”
This takes place backstage, in a cramped yellow and pink room. I squeeze through to Paul McCartney.
Any chance of an interview on their American tour? “Come with me,” he says.
A dark flight of stairs. People on either side, asking for autographs, passing comments. Everyone is talking. Now an occasional scream from outside.
Sound of music as we pass the stage. The show has started. A packed and appreciative audience drowns the now-distant babble of the dying Press Reception upstairs.
In the dressing room, Paul pulls out a packet of cigarettes and we sit and smoke. Someone offers him a cup of tea.
He seems distracted by the excitement from outside. I take in the room in a hurried glance before asking questions.
Two unopened bottles of scotch stand on a table to my right. There is another table with teapot and cups.
We are in a corner, the most orderly place in the room. Cardboard boxes are piled against a far wall, pieces of equipment lie on the floor.
Other people are in the room, more are outside, protesting that they can’t get in.
The other Beatles come in. John, George and Ringo. They sit down and Ringo has a cup of tea.
I ask Paul why they insisted on a no-segregation clause being included in their American contract.
Segregation, he says, is “daft.” He enlarges on the statement: “It’s daft looking upon coloured people as some sort of freaks.
“Before we went to the U.S. someone told us they might try to segregate the audiences. We stuck in the clause just in case.”
The clause led to the cancellation of concerts in the Southern States.
Paul drags at his cigarette and thinks a bit.
“We had coloured people with us in America. There was no discrimination there. The audience loved them.
“I think the kids over there aren’t half as bigoted as their parents. They are a new generation.”
John talks about the tour[.] “The most tiring we’ve made. I wouldn’t like to do it again in a hurry.”
A quick observation about a guy called Goldwater—“Pretty silly,” says John—some small talk to Karen.
Again, why the “no segregation” clause, and why the refusal to tour apartheid South Africa? “I just think they are bad things,” says John.
“In America they accept the Negro as an entertainer. On that there is no prejudice. We didn’t see any prejudice on the five weeks of our tour.
“We had Frogman Henry with us. He was born in the Deep South. We asked him where he’d rather live, he said in the South. You see he’s an entertainer.
“But segregation. They put them behind wire or something. Why should they? They all pay the same money. We are all the same.”
John is not so sure that segregation is dying in the States. “They are born into it, and it will take long time for them to grow out of it,” he says.
Apartheid and segregation are one and the same to the Beatles. They just don’t want to know.

Summary: Intelligence unit takes care of Jay's newborn baby while he and his wife are in court. Turns out it is the most difficult case they have worked on.
-"You can't go in there". Platt muttered in a scolding tone to Adam, who wanted to go into the coffee room.
-"Why not?" He asked strangely.
-"Shhhhhh". Kim gave him a punch on his arm. -"Keep it quiet, you're gonna wake her up".
-"Ok, alright". Ruzek kept his voice low. -"What the hell is going on, girls?"
-"Halstead's baby is sleeping in there. Don't you dare to interrupt her sweet dreams, bro". Kevin said from his desk.
-"Look at her. You can see her smile even from here". Hailey said, peeking through the window.
Trudy and Kim followed her.
-"She's so lucky she didn't get her father's mad face". The Sergeant enquired.
-"What do you think she's dreaming about? She looks so peaceful".
-"What's going on? Where's Jay? Where's her mom? What is she doing here all alone?" Adam was losing it, increasing his voice volume once more.
-"She's not alone. We're taking care of her!". Hailey frowned.
-"Adam, please". Voigh silently got out of his office and rushed towards him whispering. -"Would you keep it down? I can hear your voice even with my door closed. Let the baby rest, she's only weeks old and already has seen too much".
The detective opened his arms in a defeated gesture. He had just arrived and didn't understand anything.
-"Y/N is testifying right now, we couldn't avoid it. She and her colleagues published the investigation under their names, so...I couldn't stop it. Jay is by her side. The baby is here for protection".
-"She really is a hell of a journalist". Upton mentioned with admiration.
-"And a very brave woman. We owe her a lot in this case". Hank stated.
-"You know? You would have known about this if you had arrived in time to work". Burgess teases Adam.
-"Is there any news about the trial?" Platt wanted to know, worried about you.
-"Not yet, but Jay said he'll be in touch". The boss stated. -"You know these trials take time".
They weren't conscious about it, but the whole Intelligence squad looked hilarious talking with whispers and walking in tiptoes as they went back to their workplaces.
Time passed and the girl was still sleeping safe and sound, until Adam decided to stand up to stretch a bit and stumbled with some cables on the floor. Naturally, the clatter woke up the little baby.
-"It had to be you, right?" Kim mocked her husband as she helped him stand up.
Hailey and Kevin ran to the coffee room as if they were running a race. It was him who got there first and held the baby girl.
-"There, there. Uncle Kev is right here". He tried to reassure her. -"I had siblings and took care of them when they were babies. I can manage another one".
But after a few minutes, she was still uncontrollable.
-"Ok, it's my turn". Burgess got into the game and took the baby off his partner's arms. -"I'm the only mom here, the only one who has a real daughter. I know how to do it".
-"What are you talking about?" Trudy Platt laughed. -"Makayla was already a grown up when you adopted her!" And she grabbed the baby to accommodate her in her chest. But the crying did not stop.
-"Oh, no. What are they doing to you, sweetie?" Upton grabbed her and laid her in her arms. -"I am her godmother, she knows me better".
The baby Halstead slowed down her crying, but she was still restless.
-"Well, how many detectives do you need to sleep a baby, hum? You don't know anything". Hank Voight gasped. -"Give her to me, I'll show you all". But as soon as she was in the arms of the boss, her crying increased. -"Oh. I've lost touch!"
Jay and Y/N were already at the bullpen, waiting in the stairs. They got in time to witness the fluffy scene.
-"Hey, guys? She's not a rag doll, you know?" Jay said laughing at the scene and his friends turned around with surprise. -"She just needs her daddy's arms''. He took his daughter to stroke her and almost immediately she calmed down.
-"That's not fair". Platt crossed her arms.
-"We brought you coffee". You smiled, leaving the box you were carrying on one of the desks. -"There's not enough caffeine when you take care of a newborn. There's one for each of you, just as each of you like it. Look for your name in the tags".
-"Geez, thanks!" Adam said gladly and balanced the table. -"I was denied entrance to the coffee room the whole morning".
-"I'm sorry". You turned red.
-"Don't listen to him". A chorus of detectives said.
-"She's really calm, it was no problem". Kevin asserted and everyone else agreed.
You approached your husband and as soon as you were in your daughter's sight, the baby started to smile and giggle, throwing little kicks into the air.
-"What? Why are you laughing so much, baby?" You raised your hands and freed Jay's arms. -"Come with mommy, sweetie".
Everyone stared at the scene with tenderness, especially Kim, whose eyes started watering.
-"You wanna hold her?"
She just nodded and took the opportunity.
-"How was the trial? Are you alright?" Platt inquiered.
-"Yeah, I mean it was really scary, but I think it went fine". Y/N hands started to shake a little bit, but she was fast enough to hide them in her pockets. Nobody noticed, except for Jay.
-"She did a great job". He hugged you by the waist, trying to secretly ease you.
-"I have no doubt about it, she already showed us how much of a badass she is". Hank smirked.
-"I will just be more comfortable if you stay in here at least until the Jury deliberates, or as soon as I can go home with you. It's just a precaution, I'm not being paranoid or something".
-"Yes, I agree". Voight followed the idea.
-"Sure. Whatever you think is better".
The baby yawned and stretched herself so adorably, that she caught everyone's attention again.
-"I should put her down to sleep".
-"Alright. Take my seat, Y/N. We don't know how much we're staying here". Jay pointed out.
-"C'me on, Kim. Give the baby back to her mommy".
-"If you need help with the baby or you get bored of these people around, I'll be downstairs". The desk Sergeant winked at you and you smiled back at her back.
-"She won't be bored. She has me here". Hailey pulled a face.
-"I'll take provisions just in case the little one takes the coffee room again". Ruzek rushed to the kitchen.
Everyone else rolled their eyes in a funny way.

Author's Note : I love receiving requests for fics & HCs ❤️ You can definitely keep sending them my way 👀! Also to give you guys a quick update on Recovery : Chapter 34 is in the works but I have been working on a few different things for this blog so it's taking a little more time than expected ! 😅 That being said, I have many ideas for this fic and I think I have finally figured out the ending 👀. Going back to this HC, from what I see in my Ask, you guys are suckers for the whole Marshall Mathers being a Dad trope and I cannot blame you 🙊. Here I am, sharing what I think he would be like, being a boy dad - Let me know what you think !!!
This HC is my very own take on Marshall being a boy dad but, just in case you haven't read it - @theboujeestofboujee also wrote something similar that was absolutely adoralble "How He treats Your Son"
BEFORE THE BABY’S BIRTH 
Doesn’t matter if the baby is a boy or a girl : he is a big softie with his little one
After raising three girls, he is really overjoyed to have a son
Before finding out the gender, he swears he doesn’t care « As long as the baby is healthy, it doesn’t matter » 
BUT once he knows he is having a son ? So happy. 
He wasn’t really in a baby clothes frenzy for his daughters but for his son ? He might get a little carried away. 
His little one is definitely getting some cool baby sneakers and cute outfits 
Contrary to what a lot of people think and expect : he does NOT name his son Marshall Bruce Mathers IV 
He doesn’t want to pay homage to his own father 
He is not an egomaniac 
He doesn’t want his boy to be crushed by the weight of expectations - he knows it’s going to be hard enough when people know he is Eminem’s son 
For privacy reason, his son might use his mother’s name on a daily basis (just like his daughters went by Scott) 
Baby boy’s middle name might be Deshaun, in honor of Proof - one of the best men he has ever known 
Either Denaun or Royce is his son’s godfather 
BIRTH / AFTER THE BIRTH 
He takes time off before the end of the pregnancy - doesn't matter if he has to postpone a tour or an album : family first
Wouldn’t miss his son’s birth for the world 
He is happy his son takes a bit after him. But even more if he looks like his mother.
« Thank God he has your nose » 
OR « Jesus Christ… He has my ears. » 
He announces he is a Dad for the 4th time but he is intent on protecting his baby’s privacy - he has definitely learned a few lessons 
May not even do the announcement before the baby is a few months old 
Do not expect him to share pictures of his son on social media - NOT HAPPENING
At most, he will share a picture of the baby's hand for the announcement and that's it
Definitely takes time to enjoy life with his newborn son and the baby’s mother 
Every second he spends with his newborn baby fills him with joy 
He doesn’t mind doing the late night feedings or being on diaper duty 
He gets his son’s name tattooed on him soon after the birth 
Might not be somewhere too visible, though, especially is he chooses not to share his son’s name publicly 
If someone leaks any information about his son, he will lose his shit 
He usually doesn’t care if a paparazzi snaps a picture of him but his son ? That pap is in big trouble indeed 
In interviews, he refuses to answer questions about his family. The most a journalist will get from him about his son is : "Yeah, he's doing great" or "It's fun being a boy dad"
GROWING UP 
Just like with Alaina, Hailie and Stevie, he is adamant on teaching his son some good manners. No big difference there
However, he tends to be a little more strict with his son - because he knows what being a boy is like
That being said, he’s not much of a disciplinarian 
As long as his kids behave well and do well in school, he is pretty lenient 
Especially when he sees so much of himself in his son 
He loves his kids equally but he has a soft spot for his son because a) he is the youngest and his last child b) he is the only boy in the family, besides himself
He is a fun dad and he loves doing stuff with his children
Just like with his daughters, he makes it a point to be there for every important moment 
He does not doubt his wife/girlfriend/baby’s mother’s ability when it comes to parenting but he wants his son to have a good, strong male presence in his life 
He also pressures himself on being a good role model 
Definitely a stressed out Dad - not when his son is a baby (diapers and bottle feeding are the easy part) but more as he grows up. He constantly worries about setting up a good example for his baby boy. 
His son better respect women. He won’t have it any other way. 
He leads by example : he treats his baby’s mother very well, same goes for his daughters (obviously)
When he grows up, he has to have the « just because Dad says some stuff in his songs doesn’t mean it’s true » conversation with his son. 
The « no swearing » rule is still very much in place 
And if his son ever calls a woman a colorful name or disrespects a girl in front if him ? He is in BIG trouble. 
He teaches his son to respect everyone and makes sure his boy is polite from a very young age
He also makes sure his son knows not to take any disrespect. He teaches him that violence does not solve any issue but he will not have his son be bullied like he was.
He would not force his son to practice any activity he doesn’t want to
If his son wants to do ballet, he will show up to every recital and be the proudest Dad in the room - same goes for any other sport or artistic pursuit 
But hopefully he can share his passion of either Football or Basketball with his boy 
Baby boy sees his first Lions and Pistons game at a young age - doesn’t understand a thing but Marshall is too happy anyway

Chapter 43
Late November 1997
Thea's heartwarming gesture towards her brothers had made it on almost every newspaper front page the next day and, though the whole country was still mourning immensely, there was something ominously uplifting and comforting about it. Camilla was of course incredibly relieved that everything had gone well and she was glad that most of the public didn’t seem to have an issue with Thea’s attendance of the funeral - especially not after her close bond with the Princes had become so visible, but somehow the sudden new attention scared and worried her. She had not expected there to grow so much interest in her daughter, especially as the occasion had been such a serious and saddening one but people seem to be obsessed with her little sweetheart, and much to her regret, there had been some journalists sneaking around the house and even Thea's school again but nothing serious had happened yet, thank goodness. She had told Charles and he'd been furious, determined to issue a public statement immediately, urging people and especially journalists to leave their daughter alone but Camilla had insisted that it might not be a good time for that, so shortly after Diana's funeral and with the whole country still in mourning. The boys were being so brave, they had returned to their respective boarding schools the week after and though Charles was hoping for them all to find some kind of normality again soon, Camilla doubted that anything was going to be normal again in the foreseeable future. 
And so a few weeks passed, the days got shorter and darker and everything inside of them as well. Thea wrote heartfelt letters to her brothers every week, but didn't receive a reply, Charles gave a few phone calls but always seemed short-handed and even his birthday passed without an opportunity for a meet-up. Camilla tried to keep herself busy reading books and painting, while she, amid that horrible new wave of public hatred she was facing, couldn't really go anywhere. Thank God, she had friends who did the shopping at Sainsbury for her and the children came and left as usual. She was incredibly worried about her little sweetheart Thea, though, as she was obviously missing her father and brothers immensely. Neither of them had an explanation of why William and Harry didn't write to her and Camilla hadn't dared ask Charles, who was totally overburdened with the sad situation as it was anyway. He'd taken Harry to Africa for a couple of days at the end of October, beginning of November, and, of course given the special connection Diana had had to the continent, the trip had been highly emotional and, as Camilla hoped, a bit healing for the young Prince. So it quite took her by surprise when, on a random Saturday afternoon in late November, the phone rang and none other than her beloved Prince was on the line, huskily asking: “Can you two come over to Highgrove tonight?” Camilla didn’t even think about it any further, but immediately said: “Of course, darling. We’ll be there!” She called for Thea who's whole face lit up at the prospect of seeing daddy tonight and, of course, she asked whether Will and Harry were there as well and Camilla gulped. “I, um, didn't even had the chance to ask.”, she explained. “It went so quickly… he was so short-handed again… I'm sorry, darling. But I'm sure we'll find out soon, so let's get ourselves ready and depart as soon as possible!” It was strange, probably ridiculous, but somehow, after all these weeks, Camilla felt really excited to see her Prince again tonight and wanted to look especially beautiful for him, so she put her hair in rollers and some makeup on her face, eyeliner and mascara and a bit of lip gloss, only a modest shade of pink, not too intrusive of course, but elegant and classy. She also dressed herself in a cute little, dark green velvet dress and something special underneath though she wasn’t sure whether it might actually go into action, however, she thought, just in case…
They arrived at Highgrove at around 6pm and were received by an equerry who escorted them inside, where all three, Charles, William and Harry were already waiting impatiently. “My little sunshine!”, Charles exclaimed and enthusiastically opened his arms for Thea, who threw herself onto him affectionately, before rushing over to her brothers and falling into their arms as well. It was a very touching scene to witness and Camilla shed a tear watching the three siblings reunited. “Darling.”, Charles whispered softly in her ear as he greeted her with a kiss on the cheek. Of course, they didn’t want to be too wild in front of the children, but it had been a long time and it hadn’t taken much for her to forget herself. He smelled so good, and, oh, the way he looked at her… She took both his hands in hers and locked his eyes, his beautiful and soft, grey-blue eyes which looked so unhappy and sorrowful that it almost made her cry. She couldn’t wait to properly hug him later, when they’d be alone, to hold him and to kiss all of the pain aways that had undoubtedly tortured him over the last couple of weeks. “Why didn’t you write to us?”, Harry asked Thea and sounded equally reproachful and disappointed. “I did write to you!”, Thea defended herself, adding: “Every week! But none of you ever  replied to me!” Charles and Camilla got apart and slowly went over to the children. “I haven’t got a single letter from you!”, Harry reported and William confirmed, less reproachful but more sad: “Neither have I…” “But…”, Thea stuttered with tears in her eyes, desperately looking over to her mum for help. Camilla rushed over and bend down to her, pressing her against herself, while calmly explaining to William and Harry, that they had, indeed, sent out letters to both of them every week ever since their mother’s funeral. “And you really haven’t got one of ours either?”, William asked and Camilla shook her head. “No, none.” Charles had meanwhile joined the party and knelt down on the floor between his sons, opposite to Camilla and Thea, who were now looking at him in complete confusion and Camilla noticed worryingly that he was about to throw a tantrum - it was obvious that somebody had to deliberately have stopped the letters in order to prevent any correspondence between the Princes and their sister, and Camilla was just as shocked and angry as Charles - but they had to try and keep calm, at least in front of the children, she thought, so she cleared her throat and quickly took the floor: “Well, I’m sure we’ll be able to solve the mystery and find all of the missing letters.”, she said, trying to sound as calm and optimistic as possible.
Unintentionally, her glance met William’s, who seemed to understand immediately. “Hey Harry, let’s go and show Thea the new bunnies in the stables! They’re only just a few weeks old, very sweet.”, he suggested and Harry looked at him in complete confusion. “Why this now?”, he asked, but Thea was so excited about the prospect of seeing baby rabbits, that any resistance was futile in this case. As soon as the children had left the room, Charles couldn’t hold it back any longer and did, indeed, throw a tantrum. He almost screamed down the house in anger, disappointment and pain; not only about this unfortunate situation regarding the missing, or rather stolen, letters, but probably because of everything that had happened since that one, fateful last day of August… He had become a single father overnight, he had to cope with two mourning, half-orphaned teenage boys, he had been trying to stay strong for them, to look after them… but who had been looking after him? It almost broke her to see him in that state of mind and she wished she could just kiss it all away, she knew she couldn’t but at least she wanted to try, so she just sat down next to him, wrapped her arms around him and let him cry, tenderly stroking his hair and whispering sweet promises. “Regarding the letters, darling.”, she started after a couple of minutes. “I think we’d better ask Mark to try and find out what happened and… who might be behind it.”, she suggested and he nodded in agreement. “Yes, yes, darling. Let’s talk to him tomorrow…”

The season 2 finale of The Gilded Age brought many of the show's central conflicts to a head, including whether or not The Academy or the Met would win the opera war, who the Duke of Buckingham (Ben Lamb) would choose, whether Armstrong (Debra Monk) would ever stop being a pill — and most importantly, if Larry Russell (Harry Richardson) and Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson) would ever get together.
The moment finally arrived in the season's final scenes, and it wasn't a mere chaste brush of a gloved hand either. Standing on the doorstep of the Van Rhijn household, Larry walked Marian home from a night at the opera in the early light of dawn. She promised that even with a move on the horizon, she would keep in touch with Larry. Larry's response was to kiss her, drawing a shy, pleased smile from Marian.
Executive producer and writer Sonja Warfield tells EW that the romantic moment came after she directly solicited creator Julian Fellowes. "Julian had long game plans to get them together," she says. "Back then everything was very chaste. You didn't really kiss somebody; you shook hands or something like that. So, I really did want Marian and Larry to kiss and asked Julian if they could please kiss at the end of the season. He granted me my wish."
Though Warfield warns that if they do secure a season 3 (HBO has yet to order more of The Gilded Age), it won't just be smooth sailing through the tunnel of love. Even if Marian will now have a newly empowered Ada (Cynthia Nixon) on her side against what will no doubt be objections from Agnes (Christine Baranski). "Relationships had their challenges in 1884, and they do today," she says. "The modern challenges aren't that different from those challenges. Yes, we're rooting for them. But everything will be complicated."
EW got Warfield to break down more of the finale, including Peggy's (Denée Benton) decision to leave the paper, Ada's sudden new wealth and its implications, and the possibility that Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon) has sold her daughter, Gladys (Taissa Farmiga), to a duke solely to win a society war with Mrs. Astor (Donna Murphy).
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You all brought Ada some romance this year, only to immediately kill off poor Luke (Robert Sean Leonard). So, I have to ask, why are you so mean?
SONJA WARFIELD: Because that's drama. And back then, most of the time when people had an ache or a pain, it did mean death. I wanted to disrupt the status quo with Ada. I just adore Cynthia Nixon, and her performance was mesmerizing to me, so I wanted her to be empowered to have a love. Agnes is oppressive, and so, I wanted for her to have love and to feel loved and to understand how that helped her in the world. The heart of the show, it's about the warring classes and Ada and Agnes represent that old money, and so, they need to remain intact. That's why he couldn't stay. 
Peggy decides to leave the Fortune (Sullivan Jones) paper. What will that mean for her future? She talks about a novel, but being a journalist seems like such a core part of her identity right now. 
In that time period, a lot of women were writing serialized stories for newspapers, so Peggy's done some of that too. There's versatility in her writing and in her work. Listen, Fortune is great, but he's a bad influence. He drinks a little bit; he's married. Peggy has a whole future ahead of her anywhere she wants to be. So I'm excited for her.
Will she be able to stay away though?
We shall see. He is pretty cute.
Watson (Michael Cerveris) gets this happy ending where he's going to actually go and have a life with his daughter. Will we continue to follow him and how that develops in the future? Or once he leaves the Russell household, will we not really check in with him?
Now, he's going to be living as a gentleman. We've already seen Turner (Kelley Curran) cross over. Anything's possible in America at that time.
Speaking of Turner, we learn in the climax of the finale that both Bertha and George did her dirty behind the scenes, both with the opera box and learning that Bertha wrote Mrs. Astor to get the new Mrs. Winterton kicked out of the Academy. If there is a season 3, how might that come back to bite them?
 Listen, she'll be conniving to take Bertha down. Turner, or Mrs. Winterton, will be in her orbit. There are crimes of opportunity that Turner will be looking out for wherever she can catch Bertha out. And remember, she was the maid and the maids know everything. 
One has to assume she already is blaming the Russells for everything.
Oh, absolutely. She's a smart cookie. She knows what's going on.
Season 1 ended with this very short-lived triumph for Bertha with her party coming off. But it wasn't enough. If there is a season 3, would that be similar? She won this battle. Are there more battles for her to win? 
The thing about power is that it's unquenchable. You get a taste of it, and you thirst for more. Bertha has her sights set on conquering American society.
There is a heavy implication that Bertha won the Duke of Buckingham by selling out her own daughter. Is that a fair reading of that scenario?
I think you're a smart woman and that's an astute reading. Sadly.
George also looks quite concerned with whatever might be happening with the Duke. And we did see him early in the season pledge that he was supportive of Gladys marrying someone she actually loves. So is he also suspicious? Is he still determined to stand firm to that promise?
That's something that will be tested, and we'll have to see where George and Bertha land. This season was great because we saw them, probably for the first time with their marriage, in some real jeopardy that they had not experienced before. What I loved about that is that they still emerged as this power couple, and so we'll see if they can sustain that and how much their marriage can take. Parents often want different things for their children and that can be challenging. 
We've really seen the servants branch out a lot more this season, whether that be going to the opera or this overarching plot line with the alarm clock. Are we trending toward a situation conceivably where servants are leaving their profession or their power dynamic is in flux?
That's the difference between America and the U.K. You're born into a position there, but in America it's supposedly the land of opportunity. Turner married up; we'll have to see what happens with Jack and how he fits into this new world, or if he gravitates back to his old world and what really happens with it. Businesses go bust, anything's possible. 
We've pretty much exclusively seen Larry interested in architecture to this point. So what would going into the alarm clock business potentially look like for him? 
Money. He's young and he gets to explore a lot of things because his father's a mogul.
In the final moment, Ada warns Agnes that things might be a little different. Historically, Ada is pretty good natured. So her being in charge, what do you conceive that looking like? I feel like we're gearing up for the battle of the century between these two sisters. 
Here's the thing, fighting with a sibling is so different than fighting with somebody else. You can go in and you can go deep and you can go back. It's so charged and it's so conflict ridden. At the same time, you can be at each other's throats and then the next minute, you can hug it out. What I love is that Ada didn't just get a lot of money. She was really empowered to be independent with Luke in that relationship. So the power dynamics, it'll be fun to watch what happens.
Does she hold any resentment toward Agnes for how domineering she was that we could see come out?
Listen, Agnes pushes people. Even if you were forgiving and didn't have resentment, she might stir it up again.
This cast is known for its stellar lineup of Broadway talent. Who would be your dream to join the cast next season?
Sutton Foster. That would be big fun.

“Hey Dumplings, have you seen Uravity's new accessories collection yet? I bought the Saturn set and I feel like the most adorable person in the entire universe.”
The caption accompanied the photo of him with the aforementioned set of necklace and earrings, in pink, contrasting with his black skin. Your curly hair was tied up in a poorly improvised bun, but you didn't care.
You had a somewhat well-known profile. When he first came to Japan a few years ago, it was a bit difficult to get used to everything. Culture, Language, behaviors… everything was so different! The only thing you could hold onto to maintain normalcy was hero merchandise. There was some feeling of “safety” when you wore a hero-themed outfit. Just your emotion, maybe, but being connected to some hero symbol made you feel like you could take on the whole world and win.
Uravity's merchandise was special, mostly galaxy-themed, always full of planets, stars and the signature pink of the pro hero. They were cute and well, you liked cute things.
“Miya”, as your account was known, was one more escape from all the tiring routine you established after graduating. Her job was demanding and living alone was… lonely. Creating an account on a social network to share about your passion for heroes and everyday silliness was just an idea, but it ended up flowing and you enjoyed interacting with the audience 一 even if it was very small.
But well, you didn't want it to be big. You liked to give your unfiltered opinions and a large audience meant a lot of people would come to comment negative things, and negatively enough your job and your boss, you don't need that shit anymore.
After posting the photo, you started scrolling through the feed, reading a few news stories. One of them caught your eye. A company was suing Pro Hero Dynamighty for moral damages after he shouted… inappropriate things at a journalist in a live interview. You frowned, seeing the comments criticizing #2, and decided to go watch the original video before commenting anything.
Shit.
But what daughter of a…
Of course he would curse her! How dare she?!
You didn't even give much thought to your actions as you wrote a huge piece and published it furiously. Well, it was those impulsive decisions you were always grateful for not being well known for.
一 Argh! It almost ruined my appetite. No more cell phones for today, seriously. 一 You grumbled, hanging up the phone and placing it on the dresser next to the bed, before taking out Uravity's set and putting it away. 一 What do I order for dinner?
一 o0o 一
一 Dude! This is so manly! Hey Bakubro, you have to read this!
Katsuki's look was enough for Eijiro to know that if he handed over his cell phone, the blonde would blow it up in his face.
The backlash from the interview case had completely ruined Katsuki's mood. To make matters worse, the Agency decided to remove him from his activities while the matter was resolved, putting him in a damn office. Kirishima didn't blame his friend. He often commented that Bakugou could be a little more gentle in interviews, even though the blonde hates participating in them. But this time, he understood.
Mentioning the war against All For One was practically a Taboo when interviewing any of the heroes who participated in it. But that woman was insisting, even too much. No wonder Bakugou exploded with her. But unfortunately, all people were seeing was that Dynamighty was rude, boorish, and a pro hero who yelled at "innocent women" on TV.
The public was driven by the media and the media hated Katsuki. He was always rivaled with #1, Deku, and tried to make him the opposite of the One for All user. A ridiculous thing, since both were friends, but unfortunately, many people believed.
一 Eiji! I saw what you sent me! 一 Ashido burst into the office, with an excited smile 一 Finally someone with common sense! I could kiss this girl when I see her.
一 What the hell are you talking about now, Raccoon Eyes? Better get the Shit Hair and get the hell out of here!
一 Blasty, you need to read this 一 Ashido didn't have the same sense of survival as Eijirou, but to his credit, his phone didn't get blown up 一 A hero fan profile commented on his interview! And it's supporting you, Bakubaby! Also, a lot of people have shared it and now it looks like we can finally get this damn company back.
Bakugou arched an eyebrow.
一 Send me this. And get out of my office.
一 Right, right 一 Mina nodded with a smile, fiddling with her phone and then pulling a reluctant Kirishima out of the room 一 See you later, Blasty!
With the door closed, Bakugou was finally able to enjoy the silence. The last week had been hell. He wanted to blow up that damn company for screwing him over like that. Everything was so tiring in the hero's life and he still has to deal with idiotic people who try to gain profit and fame off of him.
A notification on his phone wakes him up, and on the screen, he sees a message from Ashido:
"Se você não visualizar logo, eu estarei de volta lá!"
一 Tch, that idiot.
Bakugou unlocked the phone and opened the message. There was a link and he clicked on it and was taken to his profile.
一 Rain Cookies. What a shitty name.
He looked at the profile picture. You're cute, he had to admit. The curly hair framing the round face, the wide smile and closed eyes. He swallowed the next statement, though. He wasn't thinking you were cute, shit.
“Eu estava assistindo ao vídeo da entrevista original com Dynamighty e uau! Eu queria dizer sinceramente que ele tem todo o meu apoio. Quer dizer, garota? Você nem deveria estar neste trabalho de merda. Pessoas como você deveriam estar em uma grande lixeira, isso mesmo. Qualquer um tem acesso aos vídeos de guerra All for One, caramba. Se você quer saber mais sobre isso, procure, seu idiota. Ainda não acredito que você fez uma pergunta tão estúpida como "Qual foi o seu sentimento ao acordar e saber que um herói deu a vida para salvá-lo?" ou “Como foi morrer enquanto lutava contra o maior vilão que a Era das Peculiaridades já enfrentou?”
“EI SEU ESTÚPIDO! DEIXE-ME LEMBRAR QUE ERAM APENAS CRIANÇAS! Dynamighty tinha apenas dezesseis anos quando toda essa merda aconteceu. E você quer saber qual foi o sentimento dele? Não consigo entender que tipo de pessoa pergunta sobre o sofrimento alheio só para ganhar um pouco de fama. Vou gravar a cara dele porque se eu te ver na rua eu mesmo te dou um soco. Isso vale para qualquer jornalista ou pessoa que se atreva a perguntar ou lembrar da guerra para algum dos heróis, você é um lixo, fedorento e mimado. Não humano. Eles já sofreram o suficiente e certamente carregarão cicatrizes eternas em seus corações e corpos por causa do que o All for One fez. Eles não precisam de ninguém para lembrá-los do que aconteceu."
“Incluindo sobre Dynamighty. Vocês podem reclamar da personalidade dele mas nunca tentaram entender né? Apesar de sua grosseria, ele nunca foi desrespeitoso com ninguém mais velho. Você não o verá xingando em suas entrevistas ou programas infantis, ou gritando com pessoas aleatórias. Se você quer algo macio e fofo, ótimo, concentre-se em pessoas fofas e fofas. Não tente impor aos outros a imagem que você acha ideal. Dynamighty é um incrível herói profissional que salvou inúmeras vidas e derrotou mais vilões do que qualquer outro herói. Não serão vocês, seus merdas, que irão derrotá-lo. Lutou muito para chegar até aqui. Pare de ficar no caminho dele."
Oh shit.
Bakugou didn't even realize he was holding his breath as he read the huge text the girl posted. The air left slowly when he finished reading, still processing everything. Someone understood. Someone who didn't even know him personally, who wasn't part of his friends or family, was fiercely defending him on a random social network. For the first time that week, he felt his mood improve considerably.
Looking at the likes and comments, Bakugou saw that many people were sharing. He grunted when he saw that his parent company's official profile had shared it as well. It had definitely been Mitsuki, because along with the share, there was a comment: “If I see this motherfucker on the street, I'll punch her too. Thank you for looking beyond what the damn media is saying @raincookies”
He had to remind his mother that the company profile should not be confused with her personal profile. But a slight smile sprouted on his lips as he reread the comment from the blonde who was identical to him.
Clicking on his profile again, Bakugou didn't even realize what he was doing before he actually realized what he was doing. In the private chat, not caring if it was his official account, he left a message, small and simple, but that really expressed what he was feeling at that moment.
"Thank you."

Hello! I'm Caeli. I'm 23 and a journalist by day, rabid Fourth Wing/Empyrean and Star Wars fan by night. FW got me back in to reading fantasy, and then IF left me with a crippling book hangover. I turned to writing fanfiction for the first time to try to get my mind off of it, and now I spend my days writing... and then go home at night and write some more.

Update Schedule:
I don't have one! Like I mentioned in my intro, I am a journalist by day, which means I already do a lot of writing on a daily basis. I love it, but that also means that during busy news cycles I might not have the time or the desire to write. I do this for fun and because I love sharing the worlds in my head with other people, but my first priority will always be myself. If I haven't updated in a week or two, that doesn't mean they'll never be updated! I will always put a note on my Tumblr if I'm putting something on hiatus, along with an estimate for when I plan to start updating again.
What I post about
In order to keep myself accountable, I post frequent updates on my writing progress here. As I said above, I write these stories because I love them, but also because I love sharing them. This helps me stay on track, while also letting people know the general progress of the next chapter.
How long will castles crumbling be?
TBD! Tales from the Airport Bathroom was no plan, just vibes. castles crumbling is the extended version, so it will obviously be longer. While I do have a general plan for this here extended version, I don't have a chapter-by-chapter outline the same way I do with Swan Song. This is partially because I'm still going back and forth on how parts of this story will go, but also because I want to try writing in a bit of a less structured way than I have been doing. I can't imagine it will be shorter than 25 chapters, but honestly, who knows? I'll update this when I have a better idea.
When will you update Addendum again? When should I read the different Addendum chapters?
I created Addendum because I wanted to give people insight into Nora without interrupting the flow of Swan Song. I expanded this concept by adding in a Violet POV chapter as well. These provide context to certain interactions, foreshadow future events, or otherwise flesh out the world in which Fen and the other characters inhabit. In short, it will be updated as needed.

The Jungle - 6th episode Review.
Here we go for episode 6 ! I was really expecting this episode and I wasn’t disappointing. It wasn’t exactly what I was looking for but there were some good ideas.
Nithan really struck me as a naive but kind person. She is melting Naan’s heart with her kindness as she comforts him and try to make him see all his action in a brighter way. He tries to put some distance between them with his talking about separating professional and personal life but no one really fall for that expect Nithan herself. Pladao was describe as a gazelle and now Nithan is a squirrel It really feel like a wildlife and nature documentary sometimes with the voice over and all these comparisons with animals.
Nithan and Naan have to spend a day together at the spa, thanks to Nithan’s aunt. They want to avoid it but grandma wants a pretty bride and a handsome groom. This is again the forced proximity trope. We like it because it makes their love journey a bit more believable than the one from Gqle and Wayu. Well, Naan is not really indifferent to Nithan’s charm as he is watching her get to the shower! Who could blame him, Nithan is a beauty. He saw her collarbone and get flustered. Poor man is not going to be able to continue this charade. He told the story to the Jungle and they kind of make fun of him because he pretends he doesn't like her but talk about her a lot. He is indeed hooked! We got some cute moments between Naan and Nithan acting like true boyfriend and girlfriend. Every action she does now appear sexy to him. He proposes that they go to sleep together for pretense and gives her some lame excuses to have her by his side. Man you're supposed to be the playboy. You should be able to do that without any efforts. Instead you look like a fool.
We got again a nightmare from the past. I will start to hate pasta as much as him with those close ups of his mom eating it. Nithan wakes up at the same time as him and she is comforting him… Again! They have a talk about her dad showing how bad he is. However, I think she has a good philosophy about letting go of anger or hatred. Mad respect for that. Sometimes I get the feeling that she is too good to be with him. He seems to feel it to. She is really kind. She is growing on me a lot. I'm the one falling in love with her at the moment.
Nithan’s dad visit this apartment with Nithan’s mom. What is he looking for? So intrusive. He is looking for any clue to deny his own daughter of inheritance. This guy is too much! Mom likes Naan. Wow, now he is noticing even small things about her, like the food she likes. Man is whipped. Dad is not convince because Dad is freaking annoying. They need to do the engagement ceremony to get the money. Seriously the dad is too much. Mom can't stand him as we all do. I like that she wants to defend and help her daughter. We love supportive mom.
There is a small scene of the Jungle talking about Pladao and how she is a journalist but they are having troubles dealing wih her as she is Gale’s friend and Gale is dating Wayu. Pladoa should make merits because Gale really saved her ass this time, just by being her friend.
But let’s not spend too much time with her because this episode is about Nithan and Naan. They are at the engagement ceremony room, trying to find the right one. Naan doesn’t want his association with Nithan to end so quickly so he tries to delay it in some ways. Something that Nithan don’t understand. At the end it doesn’t work because they get a room and the engagement is now “tomorrow” ?! It’s a bit quick. I mean how can people be really ready for this event ? I wouldn’t even have a proper attire for it if I was invited. This is mad.
Pladao is still trying to get in the RV. Girl really wants her revenge for her cousin. She gets in and takes pictures of the place until she meets with hunter who is telling her to get out and delete all her pictures. She gets in an elevator and press the only button with no number. Stupid! Okay, so Pladao found the parking place and of course Naan with Nithan just arrived there. They go on the roof. He wants to show her how he feels about her but she is clueless. Girl he likes you. Open your eyes! This is the first kiss between them! At the same moment, Pladao is back in the bar and find Evil Naan thinking it is Nice Naam and this guy doesn't even deny it. She said she will protect every women from him but she doesn't even know that he has a twin.
Back to Nithan and Naan. So this is action over words. Nithan still doesn't understand so he kisses her again. She is mistaking his actions but he wants her to see that he is not playing. I think she wants to believe it. He really wants to be with her. There is everything, the love declaration with romantic music. And yet, she does not believe him. Problem of being a liar, no one trust you anymore. Of course she wants to be with him because she also has feeling despite knowing that he can lie pretty easily. Everyone could see it. Now be together, so more drama can come to you.
Pladao is trying to follow Evil Naan and she missed him again. This girl is always two steps late and will fucked up Nice Naan’s new love. She wants to help Nithan because she thinks that she is getting fooled like her cousin was. She told him about what she did with Evil Naan (Kissing and sleeping with him). I smell drama! She also tells her about her cousin and her death to prevent Nithan of staying with Naan. After hearing all of that Nithan fled. I found that a bit weird but why not. Pladao is of course mistaken because she can't see the difference between Evil and Nice Naan. She threatened him to expose all the Jungle’s men. While she is talking to Nice Naan, Evil Naan is coming!! Yeah! Finally she knows they are twins. So which one killed your cousin? You have no clues. She knows she fucked up but instead of trying to understand everything she is also fleeing? What the heck? If I could understand why Nithan fled I can’t with Pladeo. It’s like she doesn’t want to deal with what she said or did. This girl acts like the RV is a freaking metro station.
Nice Naan is not happy with his twin and they fight of course. It involves a gun at some point. It’s kinda messy and we can hear a gunshot without knowing who was harmed. We get a cut to the engagement ceremony, where everyone is dressed for the event but Naan is not here. Nithan is crying and being sad. She wants to say the truth but Naan just arrived. She smiles like she forgave him. Is it really Naan? The answer comes very quickly because during the ceremony Nithan notice something and knows it not her Naan. Girl, you are the best. Okay so this twins thing is in front of everyone. Turns out, Evil Naan is not that great at lying. Their brotherly relationship is so crazy. At the end Nice Naan is with Nithan. They kiss and it a happy ending for them. Evil Naan is watching from afar and seems happy for them.
So Evil and Nice Naan patched things up. So they help each other even if the other one is doing something shitty. Normal stuff with twins in any series. We also got the information that Evil Naan knew about their mom trying to kill them and didn't say anything at first. Naan protected his brother and that’s why they will always have each other’s back. Well, Evil Naan has a weird way of seeing their life but whatever. Nithan’s dad discovered that she lied to get the inheritance but he stands no chance in front of Nithan’s mom and Naan. Naan even punched him and we are all glad about it. I couldn’t stand him anyway. Nice Naan wants to know how Nithan knew about Evil Naan and she said she learned it from him. Everything was foreshadowing from the last episode.
The last scene is about Pladao meeting with evil Naan. He wants to help her finding who is being her cousin’s death. Turns out he may not be involved in it. I kind of think that it could be the friend we saw in previous episode who is responsible for this. I mean he was the one who told Pladao about Naan. Could be the culprit… But at the same time, she found a picture of him with her cousin in the bar and never trusted him. Next episode we'll learn more about this matter. The trailer for the next episode is promising and I’m still rooting for my enemies-to-lovers story for Evil Naan and Pladao.
By the way, I noticed I was really careless with Naan’s name because I called him Naam a lot before. I still have to edit some of my reviews to correct this mistake. It seems that the show is trying to get two or three episodes per couples. We got Gale and Wayu, then Nithan and Naan. It seems the next couple could be Pladao and Evil Naan. We still need romance for Hack, Pine and Nathee.

The Journalist’s Footballer- Chapters Seventeen and Eighteen (Rúben Dias)

Chapter 17:
Rúben
“Rubes, does you girl post about everything she does on IG?”, asks John when we are on the lift on our way to breakfast.
“Rúben has a girl?”, asks Kyle. “I want to see her”.
“I don’t have a girl”, I say. “And yes, she posts a lot. It’s cute”.
“Yeah, I bet you found the video of her doing yoga real cute”, he laughs.
“Shut up!”
“Who is this girl?”, asks Kyle again, annoyed.
“A friend. But Mr nosey had to go and follow her on IG”, I say rolling my eyes at John.
He just shrugs. 
“But can I see her or not?”, asks Kyle for the hundredth time.
“Just show him a photo, John. So he stops asking”.
And when he does, I can see a little smirk on his face. “Good job, bro”, he tells me walking to the table.
I just shake my head.
“Good luck today 😘"
“Thank you. I’ll see you after the match 😘"
I put my phone away to concentrate on the match. Big game against Villa, plus our competitors have dropped points. Except for Spurs. Christina will be happy about that.

Being at the Etihad feels a bit strange. The seats we got at the Emirates were near the families as well, but I had Jess with me. And…I don’t know. Here I feel more exposed. Like people will wonder who I am and what I do here. So I just try to keep a low profile.
The first thing I do when I sit down is posting the photo I took outside of the stadium. I caption it “Not turning into a City fan, dad. I swear!”.
A couple of minutes later I have a couple of comments on it.
Sarah: keep telling yourself that, babe.
Lily: do it!! I’ll finally become the favourite daughter 😂😂
John: you say that now, but…
Wait, what is John doing here? And he’s following me too? How did I miss that?
Anyways. Time to put the phone away and enjoy the match.

City win 3-1 and extend their point difference with the second-place team, Spurs. I guess we’ll have to beat them here in a couple of weeks to reduce that distance again.
I then make my way to the area where Rúben told me to wait for him, trying not to get lost. When I get there, I have to show my ID and when I get inside, I can see it’s mostly filled with the player’s families. Yeah, I don’t fit here at all. And also, I’m not sure I want them to see me with Rúben and for rumours to start.
“Hey. Congrats on the win!! 😊
Could we meet somewhere else? All the families are here and I feel a bit out of place.”
A couple of minutes later, he answers saying he’ll send someone to pick me up and walk me to the dressing room. Ok…
“Christina?”, says a security guard after entering the room. Everyone stares at him.
“Yes? That’s me!”, I say, making everyone turn to look at me now.
“Come with me, please”.
I do as he says and follow him out of the room, feeling everyone’s eyes on me. 
“You can wait here”, he tells me, pointing at some chairs near the dressing rooms.
“Thanks”.
“Hi Chris!”, I hear a couple of minutes later and I turn to find John waving at me.
“Hi! Congrats on the win. And the assist”.
“Thanks. Did you enjoy the match?”
“I did”.
“Great. Do you want me to wait with you until Rúben comes back? He should be here soon”, he asks me.
“No, don’t worry. I’m sure you have people waiting for you”.
“Yeah, my daughter is here. Maybe you saw her with the rest of the kids in the room?”
“Well”, I say scrunching my nose. “There were a lot of kids and all of their shirts said “Daddy”, so it’s hard to tell who belonged to who”.
He laughs. “Yeah, that’s fair. I’ll introduce you to her another day”.
“Ok”, I add, feeling strange at the mention of another day. It’s like he expects me to be here without a doubt when I have plenty.
“See you soon”, he says with a wink and leaves.
Before I have time to turn to look at the dressing room’s door again, I notice someone covering my eyes with their hands. I jump at the touch, but then relax when I hear Rúben’s voice. 
“Who am I?”
Chapter 18:
Rúben
“Emm…Harry Kane?”
“No”, I say, trying not to laugh.
“Well, that’s disappointing”, she says. “Oh please, don’t tell me you are that Rúben Dias guy. I can’t stand him”.
I move my hands from her eyes to her shoulders to turn her, frowning at her.
“Well, too bad for you”.
She just laughs and then hugs me, again. I can get used to her and her hugs.
“Congrats”, she says. 
“Thanks”, I say, smiling down at her. “Should we get going?”
“Yeah”.
And so we go back to my car.
“I was thinking about our next match at home”, I tell her.
“Spurs, yeah. Don’t talk to me that day”, she says giving me a funny look.
“Ok, but, how about you come to the match?”
“I can’t”, she says and my spirits go down immediately.
“Why?”
“I’m going home to visit my family. It’s been a long time since I got to see them”.
“Oh, ok. Well, family first”, I try to laugh to hide my disappointment.
“Always”.
“So”, I start talking again. “Will we be able to see each other before the World Cup?”
If we do well, and I really hope we do, I’ll be gone for over a month. If I don’t see her before leaving, it’ll be two months away from her. And just thinking about it annoys me.
“I don’t think so”, she says, looking outside of the window.
“Well, that fucking sucks”, I say, stating the obvious.
That gets a sad laugh from Christina. “Yeah”.
When we make it to my apartment, I realise she’s leaving now. I’ll have to drive her to the station in less than an hour and then not see her again for two months. How am I supposed to do that?
“I’ll go finish packing”, she says, noticing my change in mood.
“Ok. I’ll go get changed”.

The moment both Rúben and I realised we are not seeing each other in a long time, everything changes. It’s as if someone had turned the reality button on to show us this weekend was the exception.
Only 5 minutes later, I’m sure everything is properly packed and I make my way to the kitchen, where I find Rúben sitting in a chair.
“Rúben?”, I say softly making him turn.
“You ready?”
“Yeah, but we don’t need to leave for another 40 minutes. How about going to the park again? No call will ruin it this time”.
That manages to put a little smile back on his face. “Let’s go”.
When we sit on the bench, I speak before I realise what I’m saying. I just can’t stand this silence between us.
“I’ve been offered a job”, I say, making Rúben look up at me.
“Have you? Who offered the job?”
“Tom”, I say, waiting to see if he makes the connection.
“Tom?...No!”, he turns fully to face me. “Have you been offered a job at City?”
I nod.
“Christina! That’s amazing!”, he says, beaming.
And that makes me smile too. 
“Did you say yes to his offer?”
“I didn’t have the chance. He just mentioned it and told me to think about it. I’ll obviously have to talk to my current boss and wait a couple of weeks to change jobs but…I think I want to say yes”.
I have been thinking about it since I told Sarah. She’s right. The job is better and the city is cheaper. I can grow as a journalist and make good connections for future jobs. And of course, Rúben is in Manchester too.
“You’ll be moving to Manchester, right?”, he asks.
I nod again. 
“And working with me?”
“Well, I don’t know exactly how much we’ll work together but, yeah, the same team. So I guess I’m likely to see you here and there”, I say laughing. 
“Please say yes”, he says, staring so intensely into my eyes, that he might as well be staring at my soul.

Riverdale S6B Ep. #106 (“Angels in America”)
“Every town has that place that the community comes together” is how Jughead Jones opens the narration for this episode.  A lot of what Jughead says about Pop’s over the years could sort of amount to a college application essay opener.   He also calls it “Home away from Home.”  Since he doesn’t qualify it with pablum about the community and so on, he’s really speaking for himself, with this one.  Home in place of home, more like, for him. 
Pop Tate, Tabitha and Jughead, during what must be an exceptionally slow day at the diner, are watching Alice Cooper’s TV show - “Riverdale Today,” and today’s special guest is Percival Pickens.  Alice Cooper giggles at him because he’s given her head (my headcanon, pun fully intended, ignore me, sorry).
Alice Cooper’s career cracks me up. How is she this untouchable? She has the most Teflon of reputations and careers.  Granted, she has a valid-seeming, patiently-built up journalism career.  She ran the Riverdale Register for a long time,  transitioned successfully into tv journalism, and now she’s this major (small town) authority with her own talk show kinda like the Fox News desk anchors who walk the line between reading the news and proselytizing their own opinions.  On the other hand, she was too dumb and self absorbed to realize that her husband was a (very underperforming) serial killer, that Gladys Jones’ daughter who lived with her at the time was the one making and leaving terrorizing VHS movies, not to mention that time she fully became inculcated into a cult despite the intensive efforts of Betty Cooper.  Unobservant, dense, and of poor judgment, but full of ambition and delusional righteousness = TV journalists, according to Riverdale. 
Percival announces that he’s going to build a railway ‘through the heart of Riverdale’ which puts Tabitha immediately on alert but Jughead doesn’t immediately catch on.  “Progress demands” that Pop’s be replaced with a train station which will bring revenue and tourism and etc.  This entire proposal was also very funny.   In the indeterminate forever 2020 but not really time that Riverdale exists in, they have / had smartphones with apps which to me implies uber/lyfts and by long-distance association, eventually self-driving cars, but A TRAIN STATION  is Percival’s idea of progress.  
Tabitha moves fast. She literally runs over to Percival’s residence inside Babylonium (I assume?) with her black leather biker jacket thrown on over her cute Pop’s uniform, to declare her firm intention to never sell the diner.  He’s very sneery about the diner (“past its heyday”) and his way of being smarmy, like continually calling Riverdale “our town,” is laid on very thick, so I admire Tabitha not getting sidetracked with irritation. He tries using “the voice” on her but she doesn’t even seem to feel it.  First (and) un-PC thought - Does British mind-control intimidation only work on white people?
Tabitha’s tries to rally the troops, in a very curious order and in a way that shows what she thinks are that person’s biggest priorities.  And their responses reveal something terribly unflattering about each of them. 
The sequence is Archie → Betty → Toni → Veronica → Cheryl before giving up and talking to Jughead.
Tabitha thinks this is what the others care about the most. 
- Archie:  Family legacy & Important Riverdale landmarks (first black owned business in Riverdale).
- Betty:  ABSOLUTELY NO INFORMATION and it’s not clear that Tabitha actually gets to say anything before Betty rudely interrupts to say what she says to Tabitha.
- Toni:  The Whyte Wyrm.
- Veronica:  No direct dialogue is heard but given context clues it appears that Tabitha went with an ‘entrepreneur -to- entrepreneur’ heart to heart approach with Veronica. 
- Cheryl:  Longstanding blood-feuds of a historic nature.
- Jughead:  He loves the diner possibly a bit more than Tabitha herself does, so she can take his support for granted.
And this is what we learn about each “main” Riverdale person:
- Archie is not the heroic brave person that Jughead Jones keeps making him out to be. He’s cowering because he is not physically invulnerable anymore.  Oh, and Archie is a terrible boxer.  (Personally I’m starting to think they picked this activity for him because it’s one of the sports where the male torso is routinely revealed.)  He’s willing to go punch the Ghoulies bloody when he has superpowers, but without them he is going to hide.  Aren’t these the basic instincts of a bully??
- Betty projects all her issues on to other people.  She can’t imagine that someone else doesn’t have a weakness she absolutely does.  Tabitha was just now safely in a room with Percival, but Betty doesn’t actually care to ask about that. She just says no person should EVER be alone in a room with Pickens because Betty Cooper has no capacity to resist his mind control and she must perforce assume nobody else can withstand it either.  Oh and whenever Betty is caught in a weakness she lies by omission, compulsively.  Very consistent.
- Toni is a person of limited vision and not a leader. As long as her little business is fine, as assured to her by a person who successfully engineered a near massacre against her, she is not going to stand with Tabitha.  This may appear to be inconsistent writing as the characters of Riverdale often don’t remember what happened in the previous episode any more than I do, but it isn’t.  Toni is someone who will talk about her individual accomplishments and awesomeness when her identity as a Serpent is denigrated.  She tends to miss the point, you see.
- Veronica says the right things (“I’ll support you in whatever way you need”) but in essence she’s a true daughter of capitalism.  She has no time or room for sentiment. The Pop’s brand and formula works in more than one location, so Veronica doesn’t see how Tabitha’s business is threatened so much as the location that she’s sentimentally attached to.  One can always make a venture newer, bigger, improved.  Like a lot of us half-assed/ former Catholics, Veronica is uninterested in the spiritual side of things.
- Cheryl is without obvious flaws beyond going through uncontrollable hot flashes that force her to keep her home icy cold.  Why Riverdale is making menopause jokes like this is beyond me, but I am actually having the best time.  If my menopause is going to be anything like my mother’s, I will be uncontrollably melting down with no warning (yay?) so I am taking notes about how I’m going to wander around my house in a red bathing suit with a gauzy white robe, wielding a fan.   I guess if I had to reach for it, Cheryl’s flaw is that she has such a hard time escaping her childhood home.
- Jughead’s flaw is that he’s loyal to Barchie beyond all reason, prioritizing their needs to have their weaknesses covered up above all other priorities.  He will lie to Tabitha to protect Archie and Betty, even though they have not been shown to make a priority of Jughead whatsoever since they all returned to Riverdale. 
By the way, Kevin is working for Percival as his spy and really, Kevin can catch no breaks on this show.  Why is he like this?
Jughead slips up in his conversation with Tabitha, answering her thought (“how can I fight him if I don’t have anyone’s support?”) out loud. I suppose you could read the exchange they have - she says she doesn’t have anyone’s support and Jughead insisting that he supports her - in a negative way towards their relationship:  Why doesn’t Jughead count as anyone?  Or you can read it in a way that condemns Archie & Betty, Toni & Veronica for the way they treat Jughead as being so very unimportant. That is to say, the people who have known Jughead the longest and deepest that Tabitha knows about treat him so poorly that she has no recourse but to assume Jughead Jones is not (ahem) an influencer.
Once Jughead has explained the recent developments that have happened to the survivors of the explosion plus Cheryl, Tabitha summarizes for those of us in the back, and to her left on the wall is an interesting painting of a black woman shedding a single tear into her palm.  Is this a well known painting?   I laughed because it just looked to me like a comment that went something like: Oh These White People.
By the way: IS JUGHEAD STILL DEAF?  Or did his deafness just ‘go away’ like some alleged doctor allegedly told him a couple episodes back?
In any case, Jughead wants to try to get a place he loves declared a historic landmark, and hence untouchable, recalling that he had been unable to do this with the Drive-In back in the day. And it turns out that Pop Tate has a box filled with historic memorabilia about the diner!   
Oh Jabitha are so cute, doing a little research project together, going from afternoon to evening.  Pop’s was in the Green Book!  The box contains a photo of Eisenhower at the counter (I guess if Nixon or Reagan ate there, it would be a no no?) as well as the diner being transformed into a polio vaccine distribution center.  Jughead is so excited to realize that the place he loves for personal reasons (granted, important ones - he may have literally starved to death without Pop’s) is also historically significant. He’s composing the application he’s going to draft out loud (“Moral crises, national tragedies, they all took place inside these booths!”) when some blank faced white man comes in and shoots Tabitha. 
Tabitha comes to on X-mas Eve, 1944, standing in the same place (behind the counter at Pop’s) wearing almost the same uniform but with very different hair, and someone calls her Teresa.  She’s shown the same issue of the Green Book she and Jughead found in the ‘historic items’ box, except it’s fresh off the press this time.
When she sees Jughead in a booth, Tabitha runs over to ask him what is going on.  And Jughead explains, then says:
“Also, I’m not Jughead. I’m an angel. Your guardian angel.”
Turns out, Tabitha is in a coma at the hospital, with Jughead at her side.  According to Raphael-as-Jughead, guardian angels are always nearby but only show themselves for cataclysmic or cosmic events.  He gives her a book that might explain things - Milan Elliott’s “The Enigma of Time Travel”  (quick google reveals an actual book exists called The Enigma of Time, published in 1983).  Through it, Tabitha figures out that she’s a ‘chrono kinetic’ - a time traveler.  She speculates that this ability may be trauma-triggered like her boyfriend’s and the other’s special powers.
“Why to 1944?” she asks, which made me blurt out, very rudely, ‘Cuz you’re not white?  I mean, if I had time travel abilities, I’m not sure I’d go to any time before 1980 for various reasons. 
Raphael thinks she has a mission, but Tabitha is really only interested in finding a totem (an item of “symbolic, mythic or religious power”) so she can return to her immediate present.  Raphael seems to get the upper hand because Titus invites Tabitha to a very important meeting, about whether to turn Riverdale into a “Sundown Town.’ 
A Keller ancestor is Mayor, with a very strange way of doing air-quotes: palm to the ceiling, fingers curling towards his face.  Is this historical accuracy?    Tabitha is alarmed to discover that a Perkins is Sheriff, who very much wants this Sundown Town ordinance. Artie (not Archie!) Andrews stands up as the lone white voice against this discrimination right on the heels of Tabitha’s fearless objection and confronts Sheriff Perkins.  Thanks to their efforts, the attempt to railroad (ahem) this ordinance does not pass and will be reconsidered in the new year.
In the middle of Tabitha talking over the events of the evening with Angel Jughead, Toni and Fang’s 1944 versions come banging at the door for help, their car having run out of gas just as they are passing through Centerville, a Sundown town. I need to do more research about this because I just don’t know a lot about it - but would a POC family with a little baby actually run out of gas traveling through an area they know are Sundown Towns without vigilantly checking the gas nonstop? This seems more like, We got hunted down by white supremacists.  So if that’s what happened, why would Fangs & Toni tell their story in this way to Tabitha of all people?   In any case, ‘44 Toni begs refuge from Tabitha-Teresa. She says of course they can stay.
Sheriff Perkins and Kevin Keller ‘44 (Oh heavens, baby, WHY?) as his deputy (once a deputy, always a deputy?) show up to arrest the ‘trespassers.’  When the Tates put up a brave and united front, Sheriff Perkins opts to get a warrant sent from Centerville.  Any plan to go on a run for it is impossible with the baby.  When Titus Tate says they need a miracle, Tabitha gets a great brainwave and gets Angel Jughead to agree to show his true form to the villains, which causes both eye-rupture and brain-breakage while a heavenly chorus sings Amen Amen.
Then we never see Angel Jughead for the rest of the episode, which means that the ‘revelation’ of the true form of Raphael results in the total destruction (through immolation?) of the Jughead body.  So, basically, Jughead even in an embodied angel form dies to fulfill someone else’s needs once again? 
Tabitha then summons Artie Andrews to go with her, to make the impassioned case to Mayor Keller that he should reject the Sundown Law, because it would “cost Riverdale its soul.”  And miraculously (this is the real miracle), this works! 
Percival Pickens will not give up though, so just as Tabitha is trying to wrap up this story with Titus he bursts in, having escaped from the insane asylum (complete with frayed strait-jacket) to shoot her himself, this time making her push herself into April 3, 1968.  She tries to stop MLK’s assassination, starting with directly going to Memphis herself.  (So sorry to be shallow about this but her 1960s coat with the big black buttons is gorgeous and I love it).  The bus breaks down just outside the city limits.
In the form of Toni, Angel Raphael tries to talk her out of it.  Tabitha runs to the FBI office (her knowledge of exact dates and memory for stray bits of information astounds me) but it’s manned by a Percival and a Kevin Keller, so she leaves immediately.   MLK’s assassination is a fixed event that can never, ever be changed, by any time traveler trying anything.  Angel Toni says she will keep Tabitha company as she waits for the terrible news. They hear RFK make the announcement, making Pop Tate collapse. (I love young Pop Tate.)  They decide to keep the diner open to give people a place to go.
FBI Perkins and FBI Kevin show up to tell her to clear out the diner at 6 p.m. because of riots in the three nearby towns. So there are actual Black Panther looking people in the Diner, which makes me wonder if the one guy in just the black jacket is supposed to be a Southside Serpent of this era?  (I really want better lore for the Southside Serpents, who are implied to have had a long history).  Tabitha calls - and reaches! - J Edgar Hoover to threaten him with blackmail, and uses the force of all this to muzzle FBI Percival.  Operation Turkey Shoot was canceled in addition to firing FBI Percival for good measure. 
They play Mahalia Jackson over the segment where Tabitha grieves MLK.  That asshole FBI Percival does a very scary drive by because he just can’t let it go. In fact, he planted a BOMB.  Tabitha takes it outside and lets it blow her into the future.
November 1999 is the new time. A white kid was caught spray painting hate symbols on the diner.  He did it for a baseball card depicting Riverdale’s only major league player.  The kid got it at the new shop that opened on the outskirts of town, owned by one Paul Prince, who is Percival, of course.  She goes to the “Curious Items” shop, where she’s visited by Raphael Betty.  Raphael Betty is the most activist and criminal minded (Go Betty!) so she just hands Tabitha the key to break into Percival’s shop.  
Tabitha relying on intuition and an apparently vast knowledge of history, takes polaroids of items that look significant to her.  Back at the diner, Angel Betty tells her that one of these things is the Spear of Longinus, “said to have pierced the side of Jesus at his crucifixion.”   Oh and Percival also has the Holy Grail. Just, casually, he just does.   So  naturally Angel Betty tells Tabitha to go get the Holy Grail. 
What follows is a really AMAZING segment that I wish was both longer and brighter lit.  Percival creepily dresses up in one of his items for sale, an old military uniform (blue coats are Union, though, right?) to assault Tabitha with a saber.  Tabitha engages in a sword fight (using the Spear of Longinus) with the (a??) devil, which doesn’t faze her one bit, handily winning based on college Varsity fencing skills.  Percival just poofs out of existence.   Later, Tabitha tells Angel Betty that she then burned the whole shop down, because she shares this arsonist tendency with Jughead.
OK so this is awesome, like I said, that Tabitha gets to win this fight against Evil / Darkness Incarnate. But now I’m wondering if this is really Riverdale.  This seems so like the kind of twisted Valentine that Jughead would write for his girlfriend, don’t you think?  The Holy Grail may be her talisman so she drinks a milkshake from it, hoping to get back to her real timeline.
Except with all the knowledge she now has!  So Tabitha alters her future by chucking the giant can of tomato soup at the would-be assailant with deadly accuracy, knocking him out cold in front of the big yellow Dead End sign affixed to the counter.
Tabitha then gives Jughead an exposition dump, saying they need to gather everyone with powers to fight against Percival Pickens, who is continually obsessed with destroying Riverdale in a very Hiram-Lodge fashion in every major era.  Jughead wants to know why he didn’t get an angel, which I thought was very cute of him.  (Your angel, if you got one, would probably tell you that you have to die, Jughead.).
When the Riverdale Powers Gang has assembled, Tabitha announces that she has seen the future.  Riverdale is currently destined to be decimated, and ground zero is Pop’s Chocklit Shoppe, which is also her talisman through time (not the Holy Grail).   So wow Riverdale the Show has some ego  - the 24 hr diner > The Holy Grail.  All righty!  The railroad is still being pushed forward, and Tabitha gets the final close up of determination.

Right! Now with all that out of the way, here are some points I thought of for their dynamics!
Jenn was born before the events of Bugsnax, everyone else was born post-game.
Floofty wanted to make a clone after the events of Snaxtooth. After many attempts, Blaie was the final result, though not an exact clone due to other generic info thrown in. The other parent is unknown.
Charlotts calls Snorpy "Smart Dad" and Chandlo "Strong Dad"
Hendy has his father's love for animals and has a pet ferret named Captain.
Jenn never leaves home without her black cowgirl hat.
Blaie acts out because he feels he knows everything, but after meeting Hendy realizes they may not be as smart as they think.
Frega doesn't need to eat food, due to the Bugsnax, but always feels strange when they eat normal food.
Everyone on the team is Bi or Pan
They love to play Grumps and Gremlins together (D&D) but fear Jenn, the Game Master.
They all love playing video games together and have some fun commentary.
They all talk in internet talk sometimes to confuse their parents.
They all learned about what went down on Snaktooth thanks to Jenn stealing the Journalist's journal. Reactions to all the notes are mixed (Blaie: My guardian was going to do WHAT?!)

Scarlett Johansson Reflects on Raising Toddlers: "You Get a Lot of Grief"

On the April 3 episode of Dear Media's "The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast," Johansson opened up about motherhood and what it's like raising toddlers as a working mother. Speaking with Lauryn Evarts Bosstick and Michael Bosstick, Johansson reflected on raising her now 8-year-old daughter Rose Dorothy Dauriac, whom she shares with her ex-husband and French journalist Romain Dauriac. "Three is really tough. I remember my daughter - my daughter is 8 1/2 - and when she was 2, I thought, 'This is great. I don't know what everybody is talking about,'" she recalled. "Then she turned 3, and it was like being in an emotionally abusive relationship. It's crazy." Johansson added that her daughter experienced "very intense emotional swings" and displayed "bossy" behavior unlike what she expected from a 3-year-old. "[It was] constant mood swings," she said. "Those poor little guys; I feel bad for 'em. Must be a lot - you're up and down constantly." "You get a lot of grief from toddlers. Like, everything you do is not right, which is hard." Alternatively, Johansson - who welcomed her second child, a son named Cosmo whom she shares with her husband Colin Jost, in August 2021- said raising babies is much less troubling. "Having a baby is so lovely," she said. "They're so cute. They sit there and they love you and then that's it. And you just get, like, love from them, whereas you get a lot of grief from toddlers. Like, everything you do is not right, which is hard." As Cosmo approaches the "terrible twos," there's no telling whether the toddler will follow in his sister's footsteps. When asked how she balances motherhood with a full-time career, Johansson was quick to say that "there is no balance." Instead, the mom of two puts her family first, adjusting her work schedule accordingly. In recent years, this decision has become most apparent in the way Johansson considers taking on new projects. If a specific role requires her to be too far from her family for a long period of time, she either declines the role or makes the necessary accommodations to bring her family with her. "I work, usually, like 15-hour days, so if I'm gonna be working on something and have to relocate everybody, it's adventurous in some ways for the kids, but they also need stability too," she said. "So now that my daughter is older, I really don't work in the same way that I used to work when I was, you know, 25 years old." While raising two children has had a direct influence on the trajectory of her career in recent years, the Marvel actor said having a family has introduced an unexpected kind of structure to her life. "It helps the pieces of your life kind of like fall into place a little bit, I think when you have this other priority," she said. Soyaux - Lyon OLPLay Postgame Interviews
This is a Timothee Piron fan blog first and a Lyon insights blog second.
Blah blah standard disclaimers apply. Will I ever stop begging OL Comms Dept to either pay (attention to) me or for my Starbucks? Probably not, but it's good to want things.
Also OLPlay was lazy and only did Henry and Gilles, and pawned Majri and Bompastor off to other outlets. I appreciate the shortened interview segment but it also creates more work for me in the long run.
I will probably write more about Henry's relationship with Lyon at a later date, because it's interesting. It's such a complex relationship but to really understand it is to understand Lyon. In that I mean, I don't think you can understand how Henry thinks without really understanding how Lyon thinks, and I don't think you can understand how Lyon thinks without understanding how Henry thinks. Two sides of the same coin, bound together by a philosophy only the other seems to understand. But anyway. As I said, that's for a later topic of conversation.
VANESSA GILLES INTERVIEW
[Note: Amandine Henry is off-screen, heckling Vanessa Gilles during the entire interview]
Journalist: We're going to pop over to Soyaux and catch up with the 100th goal scorer in the club. Vanessa, congratulations. Your name is forever engraved in the Lyon history books.
Gilles: [laughs] Thanks, it's nice, especially leaving Soyaux with a win.
Journalist: Vanessa, we want to know. This is the your first goal while wearing the Lyon jersey, and you're the 100th goal scorer in the history of the club. Obviously it's a little symbolic. But as Timothee [Piron] just said, we're under the impression that you've been here for a long time.
Gilles: [laughs again] Well depending on how you look at it, I've been in France for a long time. I feel like I've known the [Lyon] players for a long time, because I played with them for years, even if it was from the other side of the field. And the players, I said it at the time and I'll say it again, they make it so easy to integrate into the group. It doesn't speak if you speak French or English, they're very welcoming. [looks off-camera] Some are even funny.
Journalist: Vanessa, the result is important. Win, not drop any points, the chase is on against Paris Saint-Germain. It's all we can wish for for Olympique Lyonnais in 2023.
Gilles: Well, only to win. That's one of the objectives we set for ourselves at the beginning of the season. It's one of the objectives we're going to continue to aim towards. It's the win, it's trophies. Winning is the only thing [that matters]. I think here we're happy to leave with a win, with a small margin [Lyon won 3-0]. It's never easy to win here at Soyaux, especially with a field that is a little complicated [to play on] [Soyaux's field doubles as a rugby field]. I'm not sure if you could see it on the screen, but the field was complicated to play on, so we're [Gilles gets distracted by Henry doing something off-camera] - we're happy to leave here with a win.
Timothee: Vanessa, hello. I just wanted to follow up on that. You arrived at the club not that long ago. There was another recruit recently. A really, really young individual. What is it like having to travel with a baby, that of Amel Majri? How do you integrate [the baby] into the group?
Gilles: [laughs] I wasn't sure if you were talking about Kysha [Sylla] or Ines Benyahia when you were talking about babies. No but yeah, it's always a pleasure to have Amel [Majri] back in the group. Her daughter is really cute, and it's nice for the group. It makes us happy. When things get a bit complicated during travel, everyone tries to help with the baby, tries to sooth her. Even Amandine Henry smiles [at her].
Journalist: In any case, Vanessa, a big thank you. That's it, your name is engraved in gold in the Lyon history books. Congratulations for that goal. And we'll see you soon back in Lyon.
AMANDINE HENRY INTERVIEW
Journalist: And in terms of pretty goals, she knows a thing or two about those. We have the pleasure of Amandine Henry joining us. Historical day for the club, as we've been saying. 100th scorer for the club, that was Vanessa [Gilles]. For you, it's been 350 games all competitions with the Olympique Lyonnais jersey. And you capped that off with your 50th goal for Lyon in D1 [Arkema]. A nice day, no?
Henry: Yeah, it was a nice day, especially since we won. Personally, yeah, it was also nice, I'm not in the habit of scoring, so. I'm happy for the 350th game and my 50th goal, yeah, I'm super happy.
Journalist: Do you remember the last goal you scored for Lyon?
Henry: [awkward pause] Well, I think it was in the final of the Champions League ...? I think that's right.
Journalist: Exactly. A goal that is nominated for the Pushkas Award for FIFA. Are you feeling good about it? Do you think you can win that as well?
Henry: [laughs] I think there is some tough competition and some really nice goals. So we'll see. Already being nominated for best goal for Pushka is a proud accomplishment. After that, we'll see. May the best goal win. But there are some really nice [goals] nonetheless.
Timothee: Amandine, hello. Congratulations on both the goal and the win. [Selma Bacha starts screaming in the background] I wanted to know. When you look at the dynamics of the group, the return of the players such as Marozsan today, Amel [Majri] returning to the field, holidays which did some good, the training camp as well. Do you think that for January, we can talk about a new beginning for Olympique Lyonnais after a complicated beginning of the season?
Henry: Yes, of course, it's a new [start to the] league. There are some big games coming up, especially the Champions League, the return games such as - well we'll be playing Montpellier consecutively at home be it in the league or for the Coupe de France. Those will be some big games. And it's nice as well to have players back such as Maro[zsan], Sara [Dabritz], Amel [Majri] because, well, we missed them. They do a really good job on the field and that's appreciated.
Journalist: A quick word, Amandine, on the return of Amel Majri. We've been waiting impatiently for this moment. 471 days without seeing her on the field. You see her daily in training. Did you feel that it was a special moment for her as well today?
Henry: Yeah obviously. After so much time waiting, the anticipation. And it wasn't just for any reason, she gave birth to a wonderful baby. We're so proud, she's overjoyed [about her baby]. And now she is going to focus solely on football and what happens on the field. So it's nothing but joy for us. She's a true ray of sunshine.
Journalist: Thank you again, Amandine. And have a safe trip back to Lyon, with your 350 matches on the one hand, 50 goals on the other. Your hands might be a little full but whatever. That's good.
Henry: Thanks, have a great evening.

Daniel is a sleazy politician in a way that he pretty much lied throughout his whole campaign to get elected BUT no one knows that except his wife (and possibly daughter). He is associated with the Espinar family simply through his parents who know them more personal level than he does. Yet, that doesn’t stop the family from having their hand in political affairs in how they think the shift needs to happen. He is their hand essentially. His wife and him are in a loveless marriage and so a couple of years ago he started an affair which his daughter now just found out about. Personality wise i would say he def puts on more of a hard front than anything else but underneath that he’s a pretty funny, warm guy who does actually want to help people. 
Possible plots for him include: 
The woman he is having an affair with and that dynamic of keeping things in secret. Maybe she wants to take things more public and wants a real relationship not behind closed doors. He obviously doesnt want this and maybe this causes a bit of tension, a fight, maybe even a breakup because now she knows he won’t leave his wife. He won’t break everything he’s built for her. And how does she continue with that?
The journalist who knows of the affair and will go public with it if he doesn’t give them the god damn interview they have been trying to write about for the past months but he keeps saying no and canceling every meeting with them. 
Members of the Espinar family and their dynamic. How I see it was in the very beginning of his campaign, he did mean everything he said. BUT the family saw this as their way in and ya know slithered their way in by him with the means of blackmail, death, destruction, you pick. So maybe he doesn’t like how he is being used but he won’t say anything about it and keep up the charade with everyone on the outside. 
The wife of the loveless marriage. It was never about love and more so about power. She needed to get back into the good graces of her family and he needed a powerful name behind him just in case anything were to happen. Maybe at some point there was a hint of love between them, or it was just lust but now they’re at the very least friends with each other. Grace was just a surprise to them both. 
All the friend connections – best friends, old friends, neighbors, friends turned into enemies
Romance would include ex girlfriends before his marriage and maybe even a few flings during this marriage that fizzled and never lasted beyond a few weeks or even days

Eleanor is a trauma nurse who uses her family’s name to get what she wants. Her family comes from old money and so she uses that more so to her advantage than anything else. This is how she’s able to live in a more expensive part of town and is able to fulfill her shoe and handbag addiction. She became a nurse in order to try to loosen the reins on how her parents control her life and slowly but surely is she trying to do more of her own ideas. She definitely needs more help and more people to fully break her out of that shell. She is also scared that when she fully becomes who she truly is to the world that everything she knows and loves will be stripped away from her. Personality wise, she is a cute ball of sunshine who definitely loves helping people and being there for people. Out of everyone in her family, she is more humble even with her family’s wealth status. 
Possible plots for her include: 
The neighbor who is completely driving her up the wall with your choosing whether that be loud music, parties almost all the time, tries and fails at cooking which causes her house to smell faintly of burnt food. 
The squad of friends who drag her ass out at 10pm at night when her three shifts are over for a night out on the town, and also have weekly get togethers to go everything and anything, and basically ride or die. 
The family friends who know her based on just the parties she attends with her family when her attendance is necessary. 
The first girlfriend she’s ever had in college who made her try new things, discover her own self, and truly was the best thing for her and also the worst heartbreak she’s had in awhile. 
The guy her parents want her to marry and they keep getting set up on dates together which just turn into yelling matches because the two are completely different on every level. 
The idea that her father involved himself in the organized crime somehow and somehow these people keep bumping into her and asking her if she can help heal them from whatever current wound they have and to not ask any questions. 
The person or people who help break her out of her shell and even give herself a completely new outlook on life.
