Sasunaru au where Sasuke knows he’s going to leave to join Orochimaru, but he doesn’t want anything to happen to his clan’s compound because there’s no more Uchiha’s around, so he marries Naruto through a Uchiha custom so that legally it belongs to Naruto instead of getting turned over to the council

But he doesn’t explain what that custom means to Naruto

So Naruto has no idea that he’s married to Sasuke the entire time

(I’m thinking there’s something visible about the custom, so the council knows that they’re married and that they can’t touch the compound, but no one else knows because it’s an old Uchiha tradition)
