The absurdity and stupidity of all shitflix cancelations lies in one simple question: How many of those canceled shows have you actually heard of before they got canceled?
- Warrior Nun - never heard of it until the moment I started seeing its fans spamming every shitflix post. And that was its second season. It had two seasons, for fucks sake, and most of us have never heard of it. You wanna know whose fault that is? Let me give you a hint. No, it's not the viewing numbers.
- First Kill (or whatever its name is) - Never heard of it until, once again, I saw people complaining about the cancelation under shitflix posts. Once again, guess whose fault that is.
- Santa Clarita Diet - Never heard of it. Didn't even know it was canceled until it made it to the list of pissed of people counting how many of them they axed. Whose fault is that?
- Inside Job - Yeah, never heard of it until it got canceled. Also, canceled after they renewed it. Shitflix: guess we changed our minds.
- Archive 81 - Heard of it when the cancelation was announced.
- The OA - Remember just hearing about it through the fog, even though it came out years ago.
- Sense 8 - know about it only thanks to fans' videos and fanart. I don't remember shitflix ever mentioning it.
- Lockwood & Co - I know about it thanks to fans spamming posts asking for renewal news.
And the list goes on with, I assume, shows I have never heard of.
I've never seen any of these shows, but my open wound is 1899 that I believe got treated the dirtiest of them all.
I have heard of it two years before the premiere, thanks to a 50 seconds long teaser that got me patiently waiting for years because it was my cup of tea. It came from the people who proved themselves before by creating a critically acclaimed show that you can find on a top 10 list of greatest shows of all time. Those people have spent years developing a new filming technique for shitflix. What a way to say thank you.
8 out of 10 people around me have seen 1899. Those people haven't even seen GoT or LotR for fucks sake, the most famous show and movie ever, but they have seen 1899. But not because shitflix promoted it, but because people did.
There was zero promotion, zero cast interviews, zero mentions after the release. It was still watched and talked about by so many people. It has more viewing hours than their hit shows running for 3+ seasons put together. It's a show you can't just binge and forget, you have to actually turn your fucking brain on. It was released in the most busy time of the year, during the damn World Cup and winter holidays. It was still number one for weeks. It was given less than 30 days. They decided to cancel it before it even premiered. They deleted the trailer with 10+ million views from YT.
The same goes with other shows. I have seen zero cast interviews, zero promotion or mentions by their own platform and they still have loyal fan bases that didn't stop talking about them.
But then you have dogshit shows like the Night agent that is getting hyped by shtflix every single fucking day. Fake numbers, pumped up to get people to watch a generic, a hundred times seen before, piece of crap. It got more hype than fucking GoT, and yet I know zero people who have actually watched it. Yep, there is no one I know, in real life or online, that has actually watched this show. So you figure it out.
People who have watched the shows I've mentioned probably have the statistics for them, and have probably seen the viewing hours being blamed for it, which was bullshit.
The latest nail in the coffin was Lockwood & Co. They kept fans waiting for months, and then they announced the cancelation during Eurovision so that fans wouldn't be able to go viral about it because everyone talked about fucking Eurovision.
Shitflix has canceled 26 sci-fi/fantasy shows in the last 3 years. 26! Do you all remember when we couldn't even name 26 shows of all genres put together, let alone watch them?
What all these shows had in common is that they were original and more or less unique and creative, not something you can find at least 6 copies of in either streaming or network TV.
It's like they created all these shows just so they can cancel them, because they are doing their best to actually burn every trace they ever existed.
Shitflix is killing creativity in every form, but in the end, that will be their undoing.

SO ABOUT KRIST. \:D/
Tumblr media
I'm not sure how many people have seen this photo or know the context behind it.
It was taken by a fan (see watermark) at the final episode premiere for Be My Favorite in August. After we finished watching the episode, Krist and Gawin walked down the aisles of the theater singing their duet, and then they went to the front stage to give their closing speeches. Most of us expected Krist to cry because it doesn't take a lot to make that happen on a normal day. But a fan event for a series that he put his heart and soul into? That he had resting on his shoulders since it was announced in late 2021? Certified, guaranteed, written in stone.
Even expecting it, though, didn't prepare me for seeing Krist cry in person. Especially when it wasn't the crying I'm used to seeing from him. I didn't even need to understand what he was saying to feel affected by it. Being in the theater, hearing him struggle to speak, assuming what he must be talking about, hearing how absolutely earnest every word was, that was enough.
I read the translation later. Krist was talking about Gawin. That he's always wanted the focus of the series to be on Gawin, because it was Gawin's first main role, and Krist felt like he'd taint it. In the past six months, Krist has said more than once that his greatest achievement from Be My Favorite was meeting Gawin. In another interview, he said he didn't care if no one watched the series because he has Gawin in his life now, and that means more to him than the success of his work. He said meeting Gawin changed him and made him grow up.
I always knew that Krist would be good for Gawin's career. From the moment I saw the casting announcement, I knew that Krist would do what he does with all of his friends and colleagues: promote him, hype him, celebrate him. I just had no idea how close they would become. That they would both find strength in each other, and that they would develop the incredibly close friendship they have now.
And, man…ever since I saw that photo up there where Gawin is listening with tears in his eyes as his close friend and admired senior talks about him with such affection and respect, my disappointment in everyone who continues to spread misinformed hate against Krist is so much deeper.
But it's also calmer.
Because it won't last.
Krist is so widely loved by the people in his life and the people he's worked with, and he's so effusively loving in return. And I think more and more people are starting to see that. He cares so intensely all the time and he allows so much of his vulnerability to show, and he listens to people.
So whenever I see people scoffing, "How does he even have fans?" I know they haven't actually looked into who he is. I know they watched a TikTok or a YouTube video with the same five things taken out of context and it just doesn't hold up when you actually see him.
Because this is who he is:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At MUSICON, he and Gawin did a meet and greet, and this fan shared her experience talking to Krist. She had so much she wanted to say, but she couldn't stop crying, and he patted her gently on the shoulder to comfort her. She said he kept kindly looking into her eyes while she spoke, and she finished by hoping more and more people get to know him.
He's one of GMMTV's top stars who makes eye contact with his fans and engages with them. He's popular enough that he could just coast during these fan events, but he wants to listen and interact with his fans. He remembers us.
And, like, I already did a whole thing about how he's not homophobic.
Like, seriously, he isn't. During his solo concert in Cambodia, he made a beeline to this fanboy and giddily danced with him the same as he did with the women in the audience. And he wasn't the only guy he danced with, either.
Tumblr media
Krist also got hit on in an airport by a whole European dude years ago and he was delighted. The dimple came out to play and everything.
Tumblr media
There comes a point when people who say "he's just pretending he isn't homophobic to make money" start to sound like they just really, really want Krist to be homophobic because otherwise they have been mercilessly tormenting him for years over misinformation they didn't care enough to look into.
The man described his love scene with Gawin in Be My Favorite as a piece of art. Like. I think it's abundantly clear that he's not the monster interfans invented just to throw knives at.
Tumblr media
So anyway.
Back to Gawin.
Tumblr media
I'm glad Krist has Gawin in his life. Gawin who sees him, who appreciates him, and who gives back just as much affection as Krist gives to him.
Tumblr media
And who honest-to-God looks like he wants to protect Krist just as much as any of us do.
Tumblr media
So yeah!
I like Krist.
I think he's neat. \:D/
(And I totally hope he'll let Gawin and Singto do a skit making light of all the ship wars during his concert next weekend. GawinSingto jokes, come to me.)

The Ice casting decision reeks of misogyny. It's doubly disappointing as a Japanese ice show considering just how good/deep their women's field is. Kaori not only being reigning world champion, but having made history with it just so recently, rubs salt even further into the wound. Makes me wonder if they're falling into the same thing I keep seeing posted on various platforms of the women's field being "not interesting" anymore - various arguments around this statement.
No matter the reasoning, it's extremely disappointing. Especially with just how they openly stated it to, though I guess it doesn't leave anyone wondering just how intentional it was to have them all left out.
Thank you for your thoughts! This probably serves as an answer for my poll. I am still using this to comment on some of your thoughts under the cut and share some additional points from my view.
The decision of an all male cast is strange and uncalled for especially considering their deep field of women. I really wonder what lead to that final decision. I totally get the disappointment and anger even if I like most skaters that are announced for the show. But tbh from my point of view Japan has a lot of mysoginistics way of thinking instilled in their culture, so internalized mysoginy may have played a part, even if probably or hopefully nobody went like "we hate women, so we don't want them". From the reaction by Japanese fans I came across the criticism wasn't as negative as the reaction from the English fandom. In the end the Japanese fans buy the tickets.
We can't tell if the producers buy into the "women skating is not interesting anymore" or if they have other reasons. There is not any justifiable reasons to exclude women single skaters imo! One thought appeared on my mind though: from my outside observation the Japanese single women skaters do not have the same "superstar" status as the male skaters in Japan and maybe that plays a part why they are deemed by producers as "not a selling point"???After Mao Asada no other female Japanese skater got as much attention. It's a shame especially as Kaori has three world titles now! She deserves so much better. All of the Japanese ladies deserve better in general! (Though the women discipline is popular with tv ratings in Japan yet I don't see the same hype around the women skaters as male skaters in the fandom and fans will attend shows not casual tv watchers. Again just an outsiders observation of the Japanese fandom, so by no means any sort of factbased.)
I also think it's maybe in Japan but to me it doesn't feel like a Japanese ice show, bc besides Kao and Shoma and Satoko if you can even count her as she isn't perfoming apparently (that's the wildest point imo to have Satoko and not have her skate 💀) there are not many Japanese skaters announced and I mean the men field in Japan is deep too. So when all male, where are they? Where is Sota, Yuma, Kazuki, Koshiro??? I mean Nika Egadze a stronger selling point than any of them? 🙃
Many things are worth criticizing but the transparancy of the "concept" is not a negative point for me. Transparancy is always good, even if it's not transparent about the reasons for an all male cast. It's better to sell tickets when ppl know what to expect than to let ppl buy tickets blindly expecting certain skaters that then would not fit their concept. They did try to sell tickets last year before anyone was announced and that seemed to have sparked criticism inside Japan, maybe a reason why there is a complete annoucement about their casting decisions, even if it wasn't a decision anyone asked for.
Maybe this decision for an all male cast is also just a promotion stunt. Whether we like it or not, it was a "hot topic" today in the fandom and trended on Jpn Twt.
Whatever lead to that decision I feel like one thing is clear looking at SOI (a show that has the same producer) that new concepts for ice shows are needed. As much as I hate the "empty seats" discussion, shows don't sell as strongly as they used to, not even in Japan (unless it's Yuzu's show but then it's also focused on a male skater and on one skater only). They need new concepts and I am not against having a new concept, but the big question is whether that new concept had to EXCLUDE women single skaters performing???? Absolutely not.
Only time will tell if their "concept" will get ppl interested to buy tickets or turned off. We'll find out in July. And frankly in the end our view doesn't matter much as the majority of us won't be the target audience for this show.

Personally, while I think it’s a weird choice, I think a voice actor ,and actor in general is only as good as the writer, and director, I think as long as the story works, as the the powerful moments are directed and written and kept powerful and meaningful then the VA and actors will do their best. I ain’t 100% but I think a actor is only as good as the thing their acting for. If that makes sense.
Tumblr media
I think that these asks are supposed to go together. If not, I’m sorry for the assumption. I’m reading them as if they’re supposed to be the same ask, but sent salt a different time…
Hey Hon!❤️✨
I can completely understand where you’re coming from. I do, I promise. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts with me.
The reveal did feel a bit underwhelming. Like you, I think we were expecting a little teaser of sorts. With Idris Elba, we did get the poster reveal and him actively sharing his excitement. (If you’ve ever seen him do interviews about Knuckles, you can 110% see that he loves the guy a lot). Since Keanu Reeves doesn’t have a social media outlet, I think that we were hoping for something from the main SCU Twitter account to promote it. It felt a bit odd to hear it from a Hollywood reporter, then having other entertainment news outlets confirm the authenticity.
I think that part of the divide that I’m seeing is that we didn’t have the hype of the reveal that came with it. We had a blast with Idris as “Knuckles” because he actively participated in fan engagement.
Like you, I believe that we need to wait a little bit longer before we make a final judgement call. I was very careful about that last night. We don’t have all of the details of how this will play out. I’d hate to make an assumption about something until I’m able to see the full picture. And with the announcement made, I’m sure that the SCU account will share something fun😁
For those of you who are overjoyed, I’m so happy for you! I truly am! I can’t even begin to imagine how excited you are for your dream actor to appear in SCU. “Exhilaration” isn’t a strong enough word to describe the hype that you’re creating. I’ve greatly enjoyed seeing the celebrations all over Twitter, Instagram, and here. And thank you very much for sharing your thoughts and excitement with me! Let’s be respectful of others—regardless of where they stand with their beliefs/views of the casting choice—and continue to have fun!

Viv, you’ve done fuck all to promote Hazbin.
Having the main account post a bunch of GIFs and expecting people to get hyped off of that alone is just the shittiest marketing strategy ever.
It’s been two years since the show got green lit, and we still haven’t gotten a teaser trailer or cast announcement.
I know this is gonna sound like a hot take, but I feel like this needs to be said, if Viv had just not put all her focus on Helluva Boss, then Hazbin Hotel’s first season would have already been done by now.
She just left Hazbin on the side to focus on Helluva Boss, because who cares about the main show when you could just focus on the spin off am I right?
That’s the equivalent of the Harley Quinn show runners delaying production on the fourth season to focus on the Kite Man spin off, it’s asinine.
Never in my life have I seen a creator who's this inept at promoting something that they worked on. And she has the gall to sit here and use the strike as an excuse for Hazbin’s lack of updates.
Oh yeah, let's not forget that this is the same woman who caused production on Helluva Boss’ season one finale to become an absolute nightmare, because she just had to have Kesha in her dumb demon cartoon.
So no Viv, you can’t sit here and act like the strike is the only thing that’s effecting production on your shows.
I really don’t blame any of her former colleagues for no longer wanting to associate with her.

To me, one of the things that made the whole Barbieheimer thing great was also that, well, the majority of the discussions about both Barbie and Oppenheimer had a positive mood.
Have you noticed how, lately, it seems like no movie is safe from people trashing its production, criticising their choices, or even just acting negatively, all the way from the movie's announcement to its release?
However, neither Barbie nor Oppenheimer had them. Well, maybe, they did, but were pretty much drowned by all the people who just couldn't wait to see them.
Instead of going around hating on the directors, the casts or even the promotional pictures, everyone just talked about how they couldn't wait to see them, wondering what they were supposed to do (with things like "which movie should I watch first?" or "how should I dress up?").
It was such a breath of fresh air to see people just being hyped up by a movie, without acting negatively.

Hi Doreen!
Is it just me, or do you also get this feeling that only fans friends will be hyped by the cast and crew way more actively than *ekhem ekhem* moonlight chicken has been for the past million years since it's been announced? Like, what with that twitter post from the other day or the Instagram stories (with "unholy" as the soundtrack) have been rather out of the blue (but still, excellent PR if you ask me), not to mention FK talking about it every chance they get 😅
I've been obsessed with the idea of that series from the minute the mock trailer aired but they're doing a stellar job at keeping me hyped up so far haha
hiii!!! 💜
Only Friends is already the most hyped show of the year and all they released is the mock trailer and 1 extra clip djghkf but yeah I think they will definitely go hard with the promo. Which makes sense because you can never tease enough of the spicy stuff lmao. FK are already doing a good job with how they haven’t stopped talking about it since november jdkhgf. They definitely know what they're doing.
But to be fair they have been promoting MLC a lot more lately. We got 2 specials, a music video and tons of interviews so we can't complain really. It's not a standalone show, it's 1/3 of a franchise and only has 8 episodes so it makes sense that they're not treating is like a regular full length bl. it's the most anticipated show of the midnight series though and they’ve been promoting the shows equally.

I have a hypothetical question. When you have two relatively famous people with a solid fanbase and you want to do a project with them. You're using their names to promote the project even before certain plans were made. You're using the current project to hype the new one, with interviews, maybe callbacks and you work hard to achieve the best possible foundation for your new project for bigger profits, right?
It happened as soon as they announced the SO.
What might have been the reason to push one out? There was always the possibility to loose the hype, a solid fanbase and might lessening the profit?
The first announcement said, "creative decision". What might that mean?
They thought one main character might be more favorable? They wrote the storyline and thought, it's not what we envisioned? The two main cast members wanted different routes, different storylines and wouldn't find a common ground? (Would back up the rumors months before announcement)
The second statement was "relocating became impossible". Well, the plan was always different, for years and was published and mentioned multiple times even in the main show.
Why would they take such a risk and not fight for a better solution and then continuing with one person? Why?
Then the surprising announcement of yet another show...
The first 8 months of 2022 were just a weird collection of wrong choices and especially bad PR. (Which doesn't seem to end)
Hypothetical, what must happen to make such a decisions? I don't understand why someone thought it was a bright idea? Saving money (millions) for another project? Favorising one star for his creative imput and more freedom story and location wise? Someone who stated he wouldn't do it without his best buddy? (Obviously not his co-star)
Why would anyone take the risk?
If MMB had backed out, she would have to pay a shit ton of money at that point. Wouldn't she have been more supportive with a fair deal?
I don't understand the logic? Have you heard of something similar before? How did that play out?
There's nothing hypothetical or similar about what happened to the original spinoff. It's a unique situation that was handled extremely unprofessionally.
Here's Gimple's explanation of what he thinks a "creative" decision is (From the NYCC press conference in October):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the record, everything he says is a smokescreen. There is no creative reason to write Carol out if Melissa already signed on. He's just rationalizing why he didn't want Melissa in S1, why he had no use for her in S1. A creative decision, as opposed to creative differences, is not something any PR team would approve of, hence why TVLine amended it after breaking the story.
Tumblr media
The location issue is the reason both AMC and Melissa's team legally agreed to, but it falsely assumes every fan who reads that doesn't understand how contracts work. Unless there was a medical emergency/illness, which there was not, the only way she could back out is if AMC wanted her out. They bought whatever misogynistic bullshit the EPs tried to sell them, misreading the market themselves, probably because they failed to do any real market research at all just like with the title. They thought Daryl was the most essential character. They not only pushed out Melissa, but also a highly profitable fanbase they had in Caryl fans. The backlash and the numbers for S1 should've been a huge eye-opener, but even with Melissa back now, a lot of Carol/Caryl fans are still being alienated with ridiculous comments like Gimple's above, and things that Norman, Nicotero, and Zabel are saying as well.
So, anon, if your main question is how are all these decisions being made, the answer is pettiness, ego, misogyny, and poor business ethics. As others have said, I was so hopeful it would all end with Melissa's return, but that's not what I'm seeing.

YR has five main characters? Really? Or is it 2 mains & 3 major supporting (even though they’re all lumped in as main cast)? I feel it’s the latter in practice. Video announcing S2 shooting, E&O are featured as a duo in their own exclusive shots separate from the other 3. Also, E&O get the VIP treatment at Kristallen and the only ones to go on the stage to receive the accolade (while Malte, Nikita & Frida are relegated to the distant backseats lol). Who only gets the honour of appearing on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon? Those are just a few examples. So for regulars is only 2 mains and 3 major supporting, right? The rest is characters who appear sporadically.
This ask is already a bit old and I’m not sure if I’m the most qualified person out there to answer this.
I understand why some people see 2 mains + 3 supporting - even though they’re all listed as main. One thing for sure, Prince Wilhelm is the protagonist of the story, end of the story. Even if you want to see all 5 as mains, certainly neither August nor Sara nor Felice is a main the same level Wilhelm is. I daresay neither is Simon (this is obvious to me but there is some debate about this in the fandom). I read some interesting asks with @emberc that cleared up the situation. There is a term that describes Simon accurately: he’s the deuteragonist. When it comes to promote the show, no doubt the entire spotlight falls on Edvin and Omar and it’s not hard to understand why. No matter how much a part of the fandom tries to hype up the non-Wilmon parts of the show, Wilmon is the selling point of YR and what makes it so popular. Most of the fans are drawn to the series because of Wilhelm and Simon’s love story and that’s why Edvin and Omar are the 2 actors who managed to capitalize the most by a mile out of the YR fame.

Episode 92, 5.10 Abandon All Hope...
Why bring back the magical Colt after hyping it up all season as potentially the only weapon that can kill Lucifer only to bring it back, declare oopsie no there are actually five random and unspecified exceptions to this weapon’s power that we will never actually address in canon, and then lose it in the woods to have it disappear without another mention for years? Yeah, I got no idea either. Such is the fate of so many Special Weapons on this show. This one just bugs me for so many reasons.
We bid farewell to Ellen and Jo while Kripke burns down his narrative as a sacrifice to the Apocalypse. Lucifer is transparently manipulative toward Cas and Sam. I actually feel bad for Meg for the fact she’s a True Believer in Lucifer as her god, and Crowley introduces himself as the smartest character on the show. Bless :’)

Here’s Why HBO’s The Idol Deserves All The Hate It Got From The Internet

The Idol
We watch shows to escape our boring realities, at times to find solace and mostly for a dose of entertainment. We all have a preferred genre, from romance and slice-of-life to a lot of us oddly enjoy crime documentaries and thrillers. But let’s face it, the content we consume online does impact us. Now imagine coming from work and binge-watching HBO’s The Idol, directed by Euphoria creator Sam Levinson, the show with layers of misogyny and an uncomfortable depiction of the ‘male gaze’. Well, I may have a different opinion (though, I hope not), but if you missed watching this show, believe me, you’re doing fine.
The Idol was released with a comprehensive storyline to shed light on the toxic work environment in the music industry. While one may expect it to move forward to show how pop stars are actually ‘created’ and promoted by sought-after music labels for their benefit, the show turns into a compilation of sleazy videos, all this in the first 15 minutes. The hype around the show is mostly contributed by the fact that it stars The Weeknd, a Canadian singer who goes by the name Abel Tesfaye, whose fans were thrilled to see him act in his first-ever show. However, it didn’t work well for the singer-turned-actor as fans took to the internet and called the show ‘cringe’ and criticised its unimpressive and poorly written plot.
The Plot And Its Plight
The protagonist, the ‘Idol’, is Jocelyn, played by Lily-Rose Depp, a teenage pop star who is about to make a comeback after a public mental meltdown. However, after a personal image of Jocelyn gets leaked online, the sales of her show’s tickets get impacted, and this happens before the release of her new single. While experiencing a hard time personally and professionally, Jocelyn seeks out Tedros, played by The Weeknd, a DJ and club owner who wins her heart (eye rolls).

While Tedros as a character is problematic, which comes through loose dialogue-writing, Jocelyn, in a typical plot, falls for the wrong guy. What seems like abuse to the audience was portrayed as love for Jocelyn. At one point, I thought Sam Levinson had taken the plot from ChatGTP!
Sexy or Sexist
If reports are to be believed, the shooting for the show began with director Amy Seimetz who was later replaced by Sam Levinson. Seimetz abruptly left the six-episode series after completing almost 80% of it, according to a shocking undercover revelation by a publication that claims that The Idol’s co-creator, The Weeknd, disapproved of the feminist eye of Seimetz.
Apart from the storyline and dialogues, the costumes given to Jocelyn further add to the sexist portrayal of the character. Mostly dressed strings and scraps of fabric, it was pushed beyond the actual necessity of the plot. We all know sex sells, but The Idol’s sex scenes are painful, sleazy, gross, and borderline abusive to watch.
A few fans also called the show ’50 Shades of Tesfaye’ because of the extreme objectification of women especially in the sex scenes of the second episode. If that grossed you out, you’d not even want to watch the fourth episode where the torture scene of Troye Sivan’s character Xander with a dog collar is haunting, to say the least. When Depp was quizzed about these scenes in particular during the promotions, she shut the discussion calling it an ‘artistic vision’.
The Acting Ache
When the cast was first announced, the internet found it was a dreamy one. But as the episodes were released, the fans and audience were proved wrong. Naturally, in a show where outrageous visuals took centre stage, performance was the least of concern for the actors. However, the audience was quick to judge, and rightly so. Depp, who comes with some acting experience, failed to impress with her acting skills, let alone The Weekend who was doing it for the first time. Let us not get started on hideous erotic dance moves and expressions.
The Idol also marks K-Pop royalty, BLACKPINK’s member Jennie’s acting debut, which we pray never should have happened. Jennie’s barely-there dialogue delivery is awkward, with no facial expression. Even her fandom couldn’t save her from this catastrophe where the makers just roped her to cash in on her popularity.
The case in point here is that it’s not the sex scenes that may make you uncomfortable, it’s the treatment. The characters are not just misogynistic and sleazy, they will make you rethink the definition of artistic vision and value. Whether or not the scenes and dialogues support the character’s journey and progression or the story or vice-versa is food for thought. For now, the show ending an episode early with no traces of renewal is the only consolation we are happy with.

I finished Stone Ocean!
First of all I want to talk about how I used to think people were exaggerating when they complained about Netflix Jail ruining the popularity of an anime. I figured that as long as the anime is good people will watch it and talk about it. Well, Jojo proved me wrong.
When part 6 got announced I was sooo excited for it. I saw people talking about it everywhere. When the first batch of episodes was released I saw a few promotional tweets about it, but not much else. The fact that Jojo was released through the Netflix model killed absolutely all hype for it, all discussion, fan works, memes and anticipation for the episodes to come. Some of the most fun I’ve had in the anime community was when part 5 was airing and it felt like we were all watching it together. I kept coming across content of the latest episode and excitement for what would happen in the next one every single week. It’s disheartening how part 6 flew under the radar, despite the initial hype and established fanbase. The only saving grace for me is that I really enjoy binging Jojo and having it on Netflix made it easy for me to download all the episodes on my tablet for a long train ride to a place without wifi for my Christmas break.
Now onto the actual series. I really liked Jolyne as the new protagonist! She’s probably my favourite Jojo so far. Having a female protagonist and a mostly female cast (at least at the start of the series) was a much needed breath of fresh air for the series.
I still have a hard time imagining Jotaro marrying someone and having a child, and seems like it was hard for him too. When part 4 revealed that Joseph cheated on his wife and had an illegitimate son it made me lose all respect for him. I still hate him for it, but seeing how Jotaro also ended up as a fail husband and absent father it’s gotten hilarious how it seems to run in the Joestar family. It’s a horrible character flaw, but at least it’s a huge character flaw and that makes it interesting to see in characters who are otherwise portrayed as the heroes. Of course it also works to downgrade the previous protagonist and letting the new ones shine. That said, the relationship between Jolyne and Jotaro improved a lot during the series and I appreciate the depiction of a father-daughter relationship. They’re pretty rare in anime/ manga/ fiction in general and I wish we’d get more of them!
I knew that DIO would show up again, which I had mixed feelings about. I like him a lot as a villain, but I’m not a huge fan of characters returning from the dead over and over again (looking at you Avdol and F.F.). It cheapens their deaths and the story. Luckily it turned out that all his appearances were flashbacks. I think the part that he played in the story made a lot of sense, he did travel around se recru seducing all those followers so of course some of them would still be around looking for revenge and heaven, apparently. If he would’ve been revived, which seemed plausible at one point, it would’ve been fun to see him again, but it’s probably for the best that it didn’t happen.
Pucci was okay as the villain. I had fun learning about him and his motives, but he got away with too much bullshit. As a whole I feel like part 6 had too many fights and stands that got beaten through some bs method that didn’t make any sense. It was nice seeing a lot of really strong stands, but instead of being defeated “because Araki said so” I wish that they would’ve been outsmarted even if those ways would’ve been ridiculous, or simply beaten to death through brute-force by physically stronger characters. Adding to this, it’s a little annoying when stands suddenly have additional abilities that are a little over-powered and convenient for the situation at hand, but that has always been a part of Jojo so I can’t complain too much. It makes sense for (mentally) stronger characters to get more out of their stands, but I wish there’d be more rules, guidelines or explanations for those powers and abilities.
White Snake had a really cool design that I want to give a special shout-out to. I also liked Made in Heaven. Its powers were cool, probably the strongest in the series so far (except maybe Golden Experience Requiem?) mostly thanks to the global effect. The global effect is something I also enjoyed about Weather Report. I wish we’d gotten more fights with him, I would’ve liked to see all the ways he’d control the weather to win. The frog rain was hilarious, but the slugs and rainbows were a bit much.
I'm a little disappointed by the animation. I can’t remember if it’s always been pretty simple or I simply never noticed how often we’d get a still image with nothing but some mouth movements or a visual effect. I know it’s pretty common in anime, but the fact that I noticed it because those scenes were so frequent or long is a problem. I can’t say that the series was a true joy to watch thanks to it.
I’m also a little disappointed that we only got two openings and one ending, although it’s a very minor complaint. Due to that I got scared when the final episode op started playing without the SFX, but they played me and gave us an incredible callback to Sono Chi no Sadame and all the previous parts! Hearing Roundabout again as the ending made me tear up. I love the generational structure of the series and all the passion behind it and it’s moment like those that remind me of it!
I knew that the universe would be reset, and now that I’ve seen it happen I’m not sure how to feel about it. A little bittersweet? I think I’ll have to wait and see how it affects the following parts. I’m also curious if they’re going to try to one-up Pucci and Made in Heaven. It seems hard, but luckily for Jojo I don’t think it’ll be a necessary goal.
This got super long and I’m sure there’s something I wanted to comment on that I can’t remember anymore. Oh yeah, I’m still a little mushy over how ecstatic Ai Fairouz was for being cast as Jolyne. It was such a huge dream come true for her with Jolyne being the reason she wanted to become a seiyuu and she did an AMAZING job! I was also really happy Mariya Ise got a main role as she’s one of my favourites, even though she’s been taking roles where she dies off too soon :/
All in all more Jojo is always good and I can’t wait for the next part!!!

set photos aside, i am mad at rtd for being disrespectful and overshadowing jodie with his announcements and hype before her last episode even airs. she deserves better
You feel this way because you don't understand how the industry works especially with regards to advertising and announcements. Every new Doctor is announced at least a year out, sometimes more, and always DURING the run of the previous. RTD is making casting announcements because they are FILMING IN PUBLIC and its better to announce it officially than to have it leaked. It is not RTD's fault nor his problem that Chibnall has not promoted the Centenery yet. It airs in October, there is still plenty of time. I think it's more disrespectful to Jodie Whittaker to assume she's petty enough to be anything but excited about the future of the show she cares so much about particularly as it's being led by her colleague and friend. Y'all are a bunch of straight up weirdos for trying to moralize social media announcements like this

RESEARCH - Warner Bros & Disney
Today, the Big Five majors – Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros., Walt Disney Studios, and Sony Pictures – routinely distribute hundreds of films every year into all significant international markets (that is, where discretionary income is high enough for consumers to afford to watch films).
Warner Bros Promotion & Advertising Strategy:
The promotional and advertising strategy in the Warner Bros marketing strategy is as follows:
Warner Bros creates promotional hype by initially releasing film posters followed by a theatrical teaser and trailer of the films. Warner Bros slowly releases various promotional posters through the period creating curiosity among movie enthusiasts. Then character posters are released with character’s name and quick biography details identifying character trait. The announcement trailer sets up the basic plot of the movie followed by a teaser trailer released on popular occasions like movie awards or comic con. As far as online and social platforms are concerned, its website provides much more detail of the movie and shows behind the scenes shots and working with cast
Disney strategically distributes its content across different channels and platforms to maximize audience reach. The company utilizes traditional distribution methods such as theatrical releases and television broadcasts while also leveraging digital platforms like Disney+, Disney land and social media. By adapting to changing consumer behaviors and embracing new distribution models, Disney ensures that its content is accessible to a wide range of consumers, thereby maximizing its potential audience and revenue opportunities.
Walt Disney’s marketing strategy is a testament to the company’s ability to captivate audiences and create lasting brand experiences. Through exceptional branding and storytelling, multi-channel presence, strategic partnerships and acquisitions, and a focus on customer experience and personalization, Disney continues to drive the magic of brand success.

While I'm not a fan of Viv or of any of her works at all. When it comes to the promotional mess of Hazbin Hotel I kinda can't help but feel a bit sorry for the fans who been waiting on this thing since the pilot and still no word on a release. Fiona and Cake put out a teaser trailer not that long ago also Archer has come out with promotional art of its last season this August, yet Hazbin still doesn't have shit to show. I swear things with Viv is always a total mess.
I still wanna know why Viv thought people would get hyped over a bunch of GIF’s.
Teaser trailers can be hit or miss, but they serve a purpose, which is to let people know that a new project is coming and that they should stay tuned for more.
It’s been two years since Hazbin got picked up, and the only promotional material we’ve gotten is character art and a random assortment of GIF’s.
No cast announcement, no press release and no trailers.
Just…..GIF’s.
