⤷ Hiccup

-Hiccup would find it so cool but dangerous at the same time. He'd be really proud of you and he'll brag about it to others, saying something like "yeah heh my love actually has a cannibalistic dragon Deathgripper (od other dragon you like), she tamed him, cool hm?"

He'd ask a lot of question and will definitely write them into his notebook. He'd wanna know everything that's possible, most of all he'd want to know how you managed to tame it. He would touch it only if you are near so he's 100% sure that your dragon won't accidently hurt him, because your dragon listens only to you.

⤷ Eret

-Eret would be really surprise and he wouldn't trust your dragon that much. I mean he still has some hunter reflexes so even know when he doesn't hunt them anymore, he's still focused and careful around them, just in case after all they're just animals..

After some time he will get used to it, he would want to hear what your dragon can actually do, how to met it, tame it, all these stuff... maybe he would be interested more in some cool stories/memories of yours with your dragon like hunting with it. He'd also be really proud of you, telling others how cool his girlfriend is.

⤷ Tuffnut

-Tuff would find it epic and awesome and so cool! Like you managed to tame a cannibalistic dragon and now you are dating him?! He'd brag about you to his twin sister or Snotlout all the time, just to make them jealous.

He'd ask a lot of questions like if your dragon ever eat other dragon in front of you, if it does it often etc... but he'd never go and pet your dragon, never! When is Ruff being a little more annoying then usual, he'll tell her something like "you know what, i will tell y/n to come over with y/d/n (your dragons name), i bet it's hungry!" and this will shut her up most of the time.

⤷ Snotlout

-Snoutlout would brag about it the most, like really! Mostly to Hiccup or Fishlegs telling them how you're cooler then them and much tougher and badass. From the start he'll be confident saying stuff like he can tame dragon like this, that he himself has a pretty dangerous dragon, but soon as he hears your dragons roar, he's gone.

At night, when no ones listening, he whispers into your ear that he's proud of you and that you are strong and all these stuff just because you managed to tame your "special" dragon.

⤷ Grimmel

-Well Grimmel has himself cannibalistic dragons but he still holds big respect for you, because he control his dragons with venom, you somehow managed to tame it with your bare hands! He was thinking about it whole night when you first told him.

I believe he'd be more careful around your dragon because he can't control him, it's "wild" animal yk, so he's more careful because he knows what they can do.

⤷ Astrid

-Astrid would have a huge respect for you, because of that. She'd also ask a lot of questions and she would want to introduce your dragon to hers because Stormfly has her venomous thorns so Astrid thinks it will be alright.

She will often stare at you from a certain distance when you interact with your dragon, she admires you. She always say that you and your dragon are like beauty and the beast. Deep inside she thinks that you are much better then her, much stronger and cooler, but she'd never say that.

⤷ Ruffnut

-Ruff's reaction would be pretty similar to her twin brother's. She'd ask a lot of questions and be really really curious, with confidence until she sees your dragon, then all of the sudden she's hugging you from behind.

She admires you a lot, she finds you really really strong and badass because of it. And when she cannot sleep or when she's bored she will ask you to tell her the story how you tamed your dragon over and over again until she falls asleep, it's so cool that it's like a fairy tail to her, almost unreal.

⤷ Valka

-Valka lived with dragons most of her life so she knows everything but when you told her that you have a cannibalistic dragon (probably deathgripper) she was surprised and curious.

She'd want to meet him and try to "tame" it again, she knows dragon body language so if she notice that she's making your dragon uncomfortable, she'll stop. But be prepared for tons of questions even more then Hiccup would ask. She's really proud of you and really glad that she has such a strong partner.

originally thinks you are playing a game with him. So suddenly, you disappear. He looks for his sunshine around every corner, every closet, any possible hiding place he can think of. You are the light of his life, your shining brilliance cannot be matched.

So when he finds you sulking in your room, hiding, back turned from him and the world, suddenly concern eclipses his light. The pit in his stomach forms, ever expanding with worry.

Hiding because you do not see yourself as... yourself. You can almost hear his heart shatter. You are afraid other people see this, too. That you are not a man in anyone's eyes.

At first, he believes someone had put this through your head. Someone had told you this, had made you feel this way. And the fire burned within him, something telling him to find whoever had said this to you. Yet, when he finds out it is simply you perceiving everyone else's looks towards you like this, his mind slows down.

Kuai insists you are wrong. His usually calm temper replaced by him adamantly denying that you are seen as anything else. You are a man, regardless. He has never seen you as anything else but one.

Knowing you put yourself down this this claws at him, he partially feels guilty. But he puts in the effort to make you feel exactly like who you are, to bring your radiant light back into his life again.

can't stand loosing your positivity, your light is an ever-burning warmth that keeps him rather grounded, despite his wit and charm.

He's plunged into sudden darkness when he wakes up to you with your back turned to him, pushed as far away as possible at the edge of the bed. In an instant, it feels like his whole world is ripped away from him.

But, he's determined to make sure it isn't, and he begins with the questioning almost immediately. This was the quickest you've ever seen him wake up. And to find the reason you've pushed yourself away from him is because you don't see yourself how he sees you, and that you are ashamed- no, no. He can't have that.

Johnny cuts you off immediately, showering you and pampering you with affirmations. He does not allow you any room to let your mind twist your identity. He makes it known that you are a man, he sees you as a man, everyone sees you as a man.

He's serious, too. All traces of the signature Cage tone are wiped out, his voice soft, yet heavy. He doesn't let you, not even for a second, get back into your dysphoric mind-space. He tries, real hard, anyways.

Johnny only lets up when he finally sees even a potential smile on your face. And once he's so sure he's affirmed your gender,- and you've affirmed yourself- he's back to his over-the-top persona, bathed in wit and perhaps even a little bit of pride.

Favorite headcanon you have for each turtle? (Both the Rise and 03 sets I’d love to hear them both). Also do you have any really niche or ridiculously specific headcanons that you don’t see a lot of other people having but personally adore? Be it events, character traits, backstory quirks, etc.

Personally for me I like to think that Draxum bred/hatched turtles in his lab so he would have perfect specimens for his project. As a result, the turtles actually have recorded hatch days in addition to knowing their mutation day, which they probably found out once they were on better terms with him.

Leo and Donnie hatched on the same day. Donnie is never living the twin allegations down. His compensation is hatching five minutes before Leo did (and being very disgruntled when he was only minutes old and suddenly had another baby turtle climbing all over him)

God I literally have so many headcanons I can't even sort them properly in my head?? I love these headcanons though, very cute.

I've talked before about my 2003 Age Role headcanons. I have a headcanon that was originally @pileofpawns (I BELIEVE???) where 2003 Mikey couldn't figure out his music player so he's just been jamming to royalty free music that was already on the player this whole time. I find that amusing. I like it. Very Mikey-esque.

I headcanon 2003 Leo as absolutely horrible at cooking, 03 Donny also is (apparently canonically he cannot work a cooker to save his life which I found out recently) though I like to believe Donny got banned from the kitchen because he kept taking stuff apart instead of cooking. I see him more of a baking boy.

2003 Raph is an extrovert and no one will convince me otherwise !!! As much as he wants to be a lone wolf, he makes literally the most amount of friends in the show besides Mikey. LEO'S THE LONE WOLF IRONICALLY? I headcanon that it has something to do with the fact that he was manipulated by Shredder at the beginning of the show, and has a harder time trusting others unless his brothers do first. Donny's pretty friendly and makes a lot of friends as well.

2003 Donny has autism, Leo has OCD, Mikey has ADHD, and Raph has intermittent explosive disorder. Raph's far-sighted. They're all ace! Raph and Donny are both aro. Mikey's pan and Leo's gay. I generally headcanon Raph and Leo as cis, Mikey as genderfluid and Donny as nonbinary (usually agender). I do absolutely. LOVE trans Raph, "Ell" though, by @20s-turtle-posting. That's not really a headcanon I just love Ell.

For Rise, I feel like I have a lot of the usual ones? Like, Donnie's the older twin, Leo's the team medic (and also still can't cook), Leo's got insomnia, they basically all have one, the other, or a mix of adhd and autism.

I also have Raph's got dyslexia. I don't have any specific queer headcanons because I like a bunch of different ones, it tends to switch around depending on the vibe.

I haven't rolled the Rise boys around in my head for as long as 2003 so I don't know all of my headcanons for them fhgjdgh they pretty much all pop up in GitS though.

It's stupid, perhaps, but writing this stuff out makes it all feel very immediate and intense and I sort of feel like I've run a marathon coming out of this final battle, though not - I imagine - to the degree that Hector does.

We get a very long cutscene of the tide turning in the city, the mind flayers losing their potency and the locals running them over in triumph. It wasn't as epic as some of the previous cutscenes so I didn't record it, but it ends quite epically - a crowd of screaming, cheering citizens in front of a battered Sorcerous Sundries, with a line from the narrator atop it:

Narrator: Everything you did, everything you sacrificed. It was worth it for this.

True enough. Hector can hear the cheering as he and the others haul themselves, exhausted, from the water, and for a little while he just stands there and listens, letting the feeling of victory - of having saved so many - soak through him and slowly start to feel real.

Karlach keeps close at his side as they walk along the dock; she has one of his hands clasped tightly in hers as if she never plans to let it go. He is desperately grateful that, whatever lies ahead for them, that she survived this long, that he can experience this victory with her at his side.

The others, all his friends, everyone who traveled so far with him, are all waiting along the shoreline.

"We did it," Karlach mumbles, as if she still can't quite believe it herself. "We actually did it. And the city's still standing."

Devastated, yes... but standing. In the morning, they'll have to see how much has been lost. But for today... Hector allows himself to think about nothing but what will survive because of them, because of what they went through, what they did.

"My powers..." Wyll comments wonderingly. "They're draining. Just like Mizora said they would." He smiles crookedly. "A small price to pay in the grand scheme of things."

Hector grins, reaches out to slap him on the shoulder. A small price indeed - Wyll is free for the first time in years, free of both the tadpole and the pact, free to choose a new course of his own design.

"I should feel relieved, yet my blood still simmers..." Lae'zel mutters. A pause as she works through her own emotions, and then-- she smiles. Hector isn't sure he's ever seen her smile with such sincerity before.

"The parasite," she says, turning excitedly towards Hector. "It's withered, dead along with the Netherbrain! I am cleansed! I will never be a filthy ghaik!"

She pauses, and then her smile fades, her head dips reverentially as she returns her eyes to Orpheus. "Only mild offense intended, of course," she adds, with just the slightest hint of humor, but it fades instantly in favor of the more serious grimace that is her usual mien. "You did the unthinkable," she says quietly. "And I'm grateful for it."

Orpheus shrugs, turns and moves past them off the dock. "Even when my time in the Prism stretched out like an eternity," he says thoughtfully, "even when escape seemed impossible, I never lost hope. I knew that my destiny was to liberate my people. To return to them triumphant."

He turns back to face them, his tentacles twitching. "I was wrong. It seems I can only fulfill one part of my destiny. My people will be liberated, but I cannot return to them. Not like this."

He pulls a blade from his belt, offers it to Hector, his strange alien eyes showing a clear sadness.

"You helped me destroy that abomination. Now help me destroy myself. You must kill me."

Without waiting for an answer, he kneels on the dirty, blood-spattered cobblestones and turns his attention to Lae'zel, who has moved up next to Hector with a grave, grief-stricken expression. "But first, Lae'zel," he says soberly, "I need your promise."

Her eyebrows lift questioningly. Perhaps she is simply too exhausted, but there is none of that eager subservience that once marked her, when Hector saw her stand before Vlaakith. She simply waits, expectant, for the Prince's command.

"Carry my hope," he asks softly. "Carry my burden. Call my dragons, Quulos and Quuthos, and ride to the Astral Sea. Destroy Vlaakith. Release our people. Be our future and our legacy."

Lae'zel blinks, and blinks again, astonished into complete silence. After so much work, so much struggle - to survive, to be recognized, to reach the front lines of a war for her people's fate - she is being asked not only to join that war but to lead it.

More than ever in all the time he's known her, she suddenly looks like what he has known her to be all along - terribly, terribly young. And as she has in the past, as she's started to realize her respect for him and his for her, she looks towards Hector with a question in her eyes.

But he shakes his head, smiles slightly. "This is your choice to make, Lae'zel. Not mine. I entrust it to you." It would never have been his choice to make - but he is proud to stand at her side as she makes it, a decision that she has worked so hard to earn the right to.

What happens to Orpheus... in truth, Hector is feeling too much and all of it too deeply at present to spare a tremendous amount of thought for the man. But Lae'zel... he is proud of Lae'zel. And he knows that whatever battle she chooses to take on, she will be equal to it.

"Duty," she says pensively. "All my life, I've traveled in its slipstream, not once questioning its path. In its service, I came here. And now... in its service, I leave."

She turns to look towards Hector, and he is surprised to see the weight of emotion in her eyes unlike any he's seen before.

"I will carry your hope, Prince Orpheus," she agrees. "And I will carry your burden. But to that burden I must add my own. The loss of those I leave behind."

Hector looks back at her steadily. With a slow, cautious movement, giving her time to evade, he reaches out and puts a hand on her forearm, holds it there for a long moment. Words seem inadequate. I will find some, later, before you are gone, he thinks to himself. Something that articulates what you have become to me. A sister in violence.

Her lips twitch slightly, as if in understanding.

"La'ch cras'ht h'mak vlek. So be it," Orpheus murmurs. "Now, give me my freedom from this form."

Hector turns the knife in his hands hesitantly, meeting the mind flayer's piercing gold eyes. He knows why Orpheus asks, and that he would likely ask for the same thing in the other man's place. And yet... "You don't deserve to die," he says quietly.

"I will not be ghaik!" Orpheus insists fiercely. "I did what I did to save my people. The rest is up to them. Someone else must rise within the ranks to lead the revolution against Vlaakith. Give me my freedom from this form. Release my soul to the Astral Seas while I still have one to call my own."

Phrased like that... Hector can't deny it to him.

Give Orpheus the honorable death he craves.

Hector so rarely fights with a blade that it always startles him to feel how easily the flesh gives. There's a soft sucking sound as Orpheus gasps for breath, his eyes widening.

"Gith'ka tavkim krash'ht..." he whispers... and dies...

For a long time everything is still. Then Lae'zel turns abruptly and walks past Orpheus's body, out into the open square beyond.

"Quulos!" she bellows. Her voice seems to echo in the silence.

No response, for a moment. Then one of the dragons wheeling overhead comes at her call, coming to a crashing landing before her, pale fire drifting from its mouth.

Quulos. Orpheus's dragon, and now Lae'zel's. How long has she hoped to ride such a dragon one day? Did she ever picture such a case as this?

She takes a cautious step forward, raises a hand in greeting to the enormous creature; it snuffs a greeting in return, cocking its head to one side. Its eyes glint with intelligence, understanding.

She hesitates, looks back at Hector. "I can never forget you," she says, and her voice is heavy with emotion. "Your name will be etched in our slates. You will be called Mla'ghir - liberator."

He smiles slightly. "You will have no need to forget," he says quietly. "I will be here when you have need of me." A pause, and then he fumbles out the words he has learned from her over the months, all filed away in his memory as if for this moment - some ungrammatical, awkward representation of a much deeper feeling. "Chraith'kan zharn, t'lak'ma h'taka, n'gi, n'varsh." May your enemies know agony, my sister in battle, my student, my teacher.(*)

Her eyes brighten. She turns away, and without hesitation climbs onto the dragon's back.

"To the skies!" she calls.

The dragon lifts, its huge wings sending gusts of wind across them as it launches itself upwards.

They all watch, wondering, silent, as their friend disappears, and behind her, falling into line behind their new leader, go the entire githyanki force, vanishing back into the Astral Sea.

i've been talking abt my voltron playlists and @iveofficiallygonemad asked to hear them and i want to share with anybody who wants!! i know they're not perfect, i'm working on them & trying to make them better. if you have any recommendations for any of them, let me know!! there's like A Lot and i want to give a lil explanation for most of them, so i'm putting them under the cut ^-^

SO first i have my favorite one <3 it's just. all of them. it's the whole team. it's a mess and it's a bunch of different genres because it's them fighting over the aux cord on a road trip. it's them trying to make each other laugh or annoy each other or play something catchy enough it will infect everyone in the vicinity with brain worms.

Hunk: i'm pretty happy with my Hunk playlist! chill vibes. he strikes me as the kind of guy who listens to calm music to try to find his own calm, and that's what i got here :)

Pidge: this is messier and less cohesive than my usual playlist because frankly i think pidge would have a shit taste in music. all over the board. this is a mix of meme songs and 8-bit covers and vocaloid and stuff that i think pidge would genuinely connect with, and i think pidge listens to all their music on shuffle without any regards for genre or mood because they're a gremlin. nobody gives pidge sole control of the aux.

Coran hears 80's music for the first time and loses his mind. He thinks ABBA is humanity's single greatest achievement.

Lance: i have ideas about where I'm going with this but haven't really settled yet. Lance seems like the kind of boy that loves to dance (is that canon? i forgot) so most of these are Bops That Make You Move in some way or another. he likes to present an upbeat face to the world, so there's no angsting in this playlist! we are clinging to the things that make us happy with both hands until our knuckles turn white!

Keith: i'm gonna be honest. i made him a playlist but i honestly don't think he cares about music very much. it's very important to some people! he's just not one of them! i haven't cracked this playlist open in a while but i'm pretty sure it's full of songs that i think he would conceivably train/work out to.

Shiro: this playlist involves the dumbest headcanon i have for shiro that has just not left me alone since i first thought of it. most of the playlist reflects the fact that he had an emo phase in middle school (that one isn't a headcanon, you just have to look at him to know) but BUT there are a few songs on here that are on here because. little known fact. he also went through a Twilight phase that he told nobody about. (keith knows. keith was there.) he has the entire twilight soundtrack memorized. he moved past the story but the music stays forever. he used to daydream about slow dancing to Flightless Bird, American Mouth. the first time Coran mentions that they have to avoid a place because there's a supermassive black hole there, he has to bite his tongue in order to keep a straight face. do NOT ask me why i believe this so wholeheartedly.

Allura's playlist sucks right now. I think it's because in my heart of hearts i know that, were she on earth today, she would go fucking nuts for taylor swift. i have ambivalent feelings for taylor swift. i cannot do allura justice like this. if you see my vision and have recs as to what might actually fit her, PLEASE.

Klance: i haven't done it yet but i'm gonna go through this and sort it to be a sort of progression of their relationship, starting with the more combative Rivalry songs, then slipping into "oh shit oh shit" songs, then maybe ending on the more lighthearted purely romantic songs <3

(i have two songs in a shallura playlist which does not at all encapsulate how much i'm obsessed with them. the tiny cop inside my head is just constantly screaming at me that i'm going to get yelled at for liking shallura. i am going to kill the cop inside my head.)

Anyway

Emperor and Prinz' tentacles and certain spots around their eyes glow in the dark vaguely, but they can will it to glow brighter if so desired. They usually do this during splatfests.

They also have much higher/farther super jumps, squid rolls and squid surges, and are able to gain far more air using their inkjets Also, with their species, they can stay airborne longer than the average squid if so desired, however they try not to do these a lot considering it is actually very difficult for them to control their jumps and whatnot. The scar on Emperor's eye is proof of that.

Ignore the Houzuki bit I am simply a firm believer in the Houzuki family theory.

So that's emperor! Now uhhhh Who's next.

Aloha!! Aloha is... How do I say it? A defective? Unsure. He has no control over his glow. In the dark, his skin, eyes, and tentacles glow cool patterns, his skin glow defaults to the exact opposite of his ink colour!

He can, though, change it! As seen here

Also, if you look at their like. head long enough you can tell that they have three sets of ears! One is the default pair, one is really small and one is just raised up too high. The other two do allow him to hear... slightly better, but they're just annoying, generally.

Skull, during Team Blue's rematch, fuses with his Special on accident. He just got a wee bit careless. Does it hurt? Absolutely yes. Can he do anything about it? No. His squid form is partially Kraken while also.. Not? And his head hurts at a constant. He also has the pattern around his body usually. There's a lot more physical changes but we won't get into those yet. This is what you get for using a special your body isn't physically capable of handling, Skull. You dummy.

But, not all is lost. Avi comes over to his place a lot to help him out with things that he. Cannot do anymore because of the near constant pain he's in. But that's okay because Skull can still snipe people and it's AWESOME. Just uhhh don't let him activate his special(if its the Kraken) he will probably Die. Like I mentioned in his info card I think, he is deformed. This is not good.

Ocho and Shellmet are siblings! That's why they are both Mimic Octopus. They were actually both Octarian Soldiers but they were both also very poorly treated so that's awesome. Ocho ended up separating from Shellmet and was taken into the Metro but he got out.

When he and Shellmet reunited they managed to get to the surface and ended up doing a LOT of fucking around and finding out in order to blend in with the civilians of Splatsville. Do note though their military mindsets stuck the whole way through. Their fucking around and finding out is actually how they met Wireglasses, where Ocho battled him, lost, and Wire (Not knowing shit abt them) was like "Youre strong holy moly. Wanna join us" And Ocho with zero hesitation because he craves positive attention said yes and Shellmet was like "ur so dumb. [Joins to look after him]"

hELL YEAH DUDE IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE, TURN IT UP. LETS GOOOOOOOO

okay okay this is a continuation of this post, in which i go giving my interpretations and my stance on the prologue: that it's an inception-like hypnotic trance. but at the end of that post i did say i had a theory about it, and that's this.

sam's prologue extravaganza part 2: electric boogaloo

840-ish words

now, when we think about hypnotism in media, we usually see it in negative terms. the person is usually hypnotized to do a thing that they block out entirely. there's also another bit of media that uses hypnotism as a means of finding out information that you maybe don't recall or have been purposely blocked off from remembering. hypnosis, in general, is a state of suggestion. it taps into different areas of your being and connects them to areas of your imagination. a person under hypnosis cannot act out of their moral character or do stuff that they don't want to do. in psychology, it is used to ease pain and maybe stop some habits as well as open the mind up to suggestions.

we haven't seen how vyn uses hypnotism in-game, but we have seen how he tries to get to the bottom of whats happening to his patients. take the phantom of the opera girl. while he doesn't outright hypnotize her, he does want to dive deeper into whats going on with her, enough that he has her self-analyze herself while being a stand-in for her. in essence: vyn wants you to do the work for him because he knows that the person who knows you the most is yourself.

so now that we know how vyn gets most of his info, we can get to the 'why' he put rosa into multiple hypnotic states. a lot of people aren't entirely too receptive to hypnotism, there's a certain threshold that they have to meet. rosa may be in the limbo of this threshold, and while they could break out of the hypnosis, they can be put in a trance, which is the reason for this inception.

but why put them in this state in the first place? well, as i said before, sometimes memories can be blocked off both through hypnosis or trauma. so maybe rosa has some blocked-off memories.

"of what?" i hear you ask. and i grin because this is the meat of the theory.

i believe that rosa holds the answer to the nxx drug within her, both mentally and physically.

lets go back to the development of X03A, the new drug that contains NXX. luke, in 5-1, tells us that the development of this drug started 25 years ago. luke and rosa are both 24 at the start of the game, so there's a one-year gap in its development. now, most of this is based on what rosa's parents do for a living to the point where they're also sent on a 'top secret investigation' but i believe that rosa was introduced to the X03A drug/nxx adjacent stuff at a young. what i'm saying is that rosa was experimented on as a child by her parents. i mean, its something that isn't new to the game. huey and joey are children who have been subjects to the X03A drug itself. 'but sam, why doesn't rosa know about this?' because hehe, they hypnotized rosa not to remember. now, this probably stopped by the time luke came around to live with them, but its already there.

now, being so young and probably hypnotized lots of times, it would make sense for her to either grow some resistance to hypnosis (as in they can't make you do something you don't want, therefore she wouldn't have wanted to be hypnotized) or have the memory buried so deep that it takes multiple levels of hypnosis to get to the answers. so rosa may be the answer all along, but also she may have some knowledge of the nxx drug in general, be it glimpses of formulas or stuff like that as well.

thats why vyn (or, well, the vision of vyn) tries to go deeper. the trauma, the formulas, are so deep within rosa that one hypnosis isn't enough.

thematically, it also uses the trope of 'the answer was inside you all along' but to a whole new level. now imagine luke, who needs a type of antidote, has to get it from rosa? or better yet, he has to make them relive all that trauma just to get himself to live again? i think it would also be the type of angst hyv would go for (re: looming nightmare LMAO). i definitely think that like, it was a process thing and that there were two phases to nxx drug testing: the prep work and the harder drug. the prep work makes it so that the body is much more receptive to the drug, which is what rosa got before her parents probably stopped experimenting. luke got the other one, and since he didn't get the prep work done that's why the drug is fucking with his body. there's also the thing that i noticed: maybe rosa's parents never delivered on the research because both joey and huey have some adverse effects of the drugs while rosa doesn't.

but yeah, that is my main theory! rosa holds all the answers and the only way to get the team to know about it is through hypnosis.

For once I can actually do this one, given it's only 5 songs lol. I'll try and choose a good variety though

Paint it Black - The Rolling Stones (And pretty much any other version I hear). Absolutely one of my favorite songs, has been for a long time. I'm also very fond of Sympathy for the Devil, but I don't have as many alternate versions of that one.

Behold the Darkness - Medwyn Goodall. I believe I first heard this when I was a child, as background music for a level of a game I was playing. I was delighted when I managed to find it again years later. I cannot describe how much I love this song or what it means to me. It is such a beautifully dark, ominous, solemn song. Wonderful for ambiance, background music, or just long walks in the darkest hours of night. Very easy for me to get lost in thought to.

Tearing the Veil From Grace - Cradle of Filth. This is one of my favorite bands, and one of my favorite songs by them. I particularly love a part towards the end that breaks out into this darkly angelic sounding bit that sounds both utterly beautiful and deeply tragic. I'm a big fan of anything that has this sort of vibe to it, something I often call "Darkness Divine".

Sick and Beautiful - Fear of Domination. This one's rather recent, but very quickly became a favorite of mine. I love how much energy it has, and how twistedly eccentric it feels. Not to mention how much the phrase "Sick and beautiful" would apply to the things I tend to enjoy most.

Last Light - Fraunhofer Diffraction. I found this song when I decided to look up "Witch House" on Spotify, and quickly found many songs of the genre that were definitely to my liking. It has a dark sort of vibe to it, as do many other songs of this genre. Great for ambiance, but a bit different from Behold the Darkness, though with a similar vibe. Main reason I added this is because I feel like it, and the Witch House genre in general, gets a but overlooked. I hadn't heard of it until I saw a meme mention it lol.

Bonus song because I had trouble choosing the last song:

Brandon Lee - The 69 Eyes. I absolutely love this song, it's so beautiful and gothic, very fitting for a song made in honor of Brandon Lee.

I realize that, despite saying I'll have some good variety, I still kind of have a theme here. That's only partially intentional, after I noticed I just kinda went with it lol. They're still all fairly different songs though, they just happen to all be a bit dark. I do actually listen to stuff that isn't quite as dark and/or gothic, but I must admit it's usually the darker stuff that stands out to me most.

🥃- Rogue Amendiares

Vince has a lot of respect for Rogue, what she's achieved, how she's running the Afterlife, everything really. To make it to her age in this line of business is an impressive feat, and to have a reputation as good as hers to go along with it even more so. Simultaneously, after seeing some of Johnny's memories of her, Vince got the impression that through all of this she stayed true to herself, and he believes she's blaming herself for things she had no control over. Both these things speak in her favour too though, in a way - she kept her humanity and didn't lose herself in the city like many others. I think seeing what Rogue has achieved against all odds gives him hope for the future in a strange way.

He'd obviously never tell her anything of this in person, she probably wouldn't give a fuck about his opinion anyway, as is her right. But yes... I think respectful admiration but professional distance sums up their relationship quite well.

💴- Hanako Arasaka

The thing with the Arasakas is, they're so hard to read. Hanako, so incredibly illusive and out of the public's eye, in particular. Vince's father always had the Arasakas on a bit of a pedestal, praising them for their achievements and whatnot, so admittedly, he is somewhat curious about them and wants to know what all the fuss is about.

His direct interactions with Hanako are of brief duration, given all the external factors at play, way too short really to form a solid opinion of her. On the one hand for Takemura's sake, but also because the whole Mikoshi scenario Alt suggests doesn't sit super well with Vince, he meets her at Embers to hear her out with sincerity. He can never shake the feeling that he's being manipulated while talking to her, despite trusting Takemura's judgement that Hanako is someone you can talk to, and that she has her own reasons to also put her trust in them. It scares him a bit how almost like a reflex during that conversation he reverts back to all the empty phrases and pleasantries he used to utilize so frequently during his time at the corporation, as if nothing ever happened, as if he was back working there already. He's leaving the place feeling even more conflicted than before, wanting to trust her, but also feeling like he's being played, once again, and treated like a pawn in a game he cannot win.

🔮- Misty Olszewski

When Jackie first introduces Misty to him, Vince's initial reaction is "really? but why?" because they seem like they don't really match. He doesn't quite understand what Jackie sees in her, isn't too keen on her whole esoteric stuff either, and overall feels like she is too much from a different world to his own to really find a common ground. I'm not even speaking of her being from Heywood, Vince from Westbrook, because that also applies to him and Jackie. Their interests and views are just very far apart, or so it seems initially.

As time goes on though and Vince sees just how happy Misty makes his best friend, and vice versa, he's reminded of something Jackie told him quite often: to never judge a book by its cover. He manages to look past all the - to him - "weird" stuff he doesn't get about Misty and recognizes what a sweet and loving and positive person she is. She cares so much for the people around her, loves life, and usually just leaves him with a good feeling after every conversation they have, despite all his initial reservations.

He still doesn't quite get the whole tarot and mysticism stuff, he probably never will, but because it's Misty he lets her do her thing and promises to keep more of an open mind to new experiences.

I think one of my favorite soulmate aus (tied into my shameless self inserts obvi) is just, hearing what music they listen to. And I tend to think it's like, you can just tune in to see if they're listening to something - it's not constant bc that'd be annoying as hell. It's just like a little soulmate radio station you can check in on.

And so Snape in this au KNOWS he has a soulmate but he doesn't know any of the music his soulmate ever listens to. He tries searching for the music to find them and cannot even find a band name, let alone the songs themselves and he's so confused and stressed because it's the one good thing in his life and he can't even find them, he can't even have that in his life. None of the Marauders or anyone believes him, they just think he's pretending to hear music and making up songs to pretend no one knows them. ("My girlfriend lives in Canada you wouldn't know her", if you will)

And then one day someone transfers from like America or something, and all they listen to is music that never actually made it across the ocean to be popular or known in any way. Usually just smaller bands that are kind of local to one area of the states even, not even nationally known.

And they're like, chilling with someone, who knows, and Snape is either in the vicinity or in the room, and they're like hey listen to THIS. And Snape for the first time in his life hears a song in real life and not just his head and he's like. Oh. Of course. That's why I never knew the music.

And now he needs to figure out how to communicate to this person that he's their soulmate without them a) being disappointed, b) thinking he's lying, and c) embarrassing the hell out of himself.

Also he spends so much time listening to his soulmate's music to try to figure out who they are that he hardly ever listened to his own stuff, so his soulmate thinks they don't have one OR that their soulmate is deaf, which is a problem he created on his own and now he has to try to figure out how to solve it.

Idk. I just love the idea of Snape finding his soulmate and the biggest issue being "okay how do I break it to them in the best way without being creepy or annoying" and stressing himself out, meanwhile his soulmate is just like "hey this guy's cute we're probably not soulmates but I wonder if he's single".

Reading your fanfic I’m asking how could you be so inspired even if there is not material coming from the episodes. I like your “Shipping ships that should be canon, but they're not. “ but recently I’m starting wondering what is the reason why I usually like pairs that are not canon at all. I can see many people who like for example Kakasaku (of course in a context where Sakura is an adult). That is very interesting because there is some chemistry that makes us think it could be possible. Actually canon Naruto is becoming boring to watch and I’m not enjoying it so much now. So I’m asking how it could be possible enjoy an anime when the canon episodes go in the opposite way of our mind? I would like having your opinion if possible. Thank you!

I am really excited to hear from you, please know that this ask has been unexpected but really, really welcome!

So, “shipping ships that should be canon, but they’re not”. That is, of course, my own personal opinion, but there are many among us who cannot see a happy ending in what we’ve seen in the canon media. I guess it has to do with our personalities, our perspectives, even our vision of what constitutes as a happy ending/ fitting pair. When I was 18 and first watching Naruto, I admired Sakura’s resolve to love Sasuke even though he blatantly showed his distaste of her in every situation. Today, as I am rapidly getting towards my 31st birthday, having lived through certain relationships with people, the same thing makes me feel uneasy, because I now believe that love should be effortless and that our childhood crushes won’t probably be our steady loves in our future. On the other hand, the canon creators and the fandom that disagrees with my opinion may have different experiences from me, and that is understandable too. It actually happened to me regarding another pair I shipped and didn’t end canon: Bleach’s Orihime Inoue and Uryuu Ishida, for whom I have an endless list of arguments on why they were infinitely better than the canon endgame. Same goes for (adult) KakaSaku.

So, to answer your question why you usually like pairs that are not canon? Because you are a different personality than the one who calls the shots on canon media, and you have a different perspective on life and love and sentiments. It’s fine and you should rejoice in it!

You’re also asking, about the inspiration for my stories (and let me tell you, I’m downright squealing with glee that you read something from me and that you’ve enjoyed it). Yes, there is not material from the series, but when one starts thinking about what could have been, it’s easy to let their mind drift to different scenarios. Some stuff might have been taken from real life, too: for my photographer-themed story for example, I was thinking of various shenanigans I had with my long-time partner, with whom I share a passion for photography, and then I was just...scribbling these down. It’s not always easy, especially considering my difficulty in expressing myself in English. But I enjoy all those chaotic “what if”s. After all, imagination can’t be restrained because someone tells us it’s not canon, right?

Having said that, we still enjoy canon media, because it’s the basis that helps our imagination wander. I don’t agree with SasuSaku for example, but if it wasn’t for this portrayal of them, I wouldn’t start thinking how it would be like if things were different. So the anime gives me the basis on which I dream upon a different endgame, and that is enough for me to enjoy the majority of it.

Now we're watching these shows and these people are bringing up topics and they're talking about it and we keep saying it's not really right and we're keeping it talking stuff and something big is finally going to happen and it's the hospitals and it's very dangerous and there's more gold there then the whole area each area and the clones and Max will fight and foreigners too and they say it has to be pushed down or perish and they are pushed out and they're watching it and they cannot believe it and then there's one catch and it's in the Bible and they're kind of leery so it's going on and this is going to be a very interesting week these more lock are not going to hold off they tried and they did a little and can't stand it and they're going to get creamed and all of them and the max one of them and the foreigners and we did too don't come in here little kids and Blockbuster is a Mac and he promised a lot of death you say they don't care they need it. An Incredible Experience

Two days ago, I had a guitar lesson. I show up, and the chair I usually sit in is in the middle of two of these speakers.

My teacher's side (read: main) gig is selling preposterously high-end audio equipment to those with the disposable income to afford such absurdities. That's the tough part about this world...if you had the experience that I did Monday, you'd start rationalizing price tags.

On one hand, a pair of these systems (they're not just speakers...it's woofers, amplification, clocks and streamers as an enclosed unit) are so absurdly pricey, it's almost impossible to defend.

...unless you've had the experience.

Because when you consider the technology that went into this, it's absolutely mindblowing. The cost is absolutely justified thinking of it this way. Before you object, just hear me out.

Grimm makes studio monitors at the highest possible level of quality and accuracy. Every one of the top studios in Europe has these as reference monitors to test the quality of recordings. If the recording is shit, these speakers will tell the producers, engineers, musicians, et al exactly what's wrong. If there are warts, they'll be magnified.

These are not speakers for putting on at home to have music going in the background. Sure, they can do that preposterously well...but that's not the point. The point is fidelity. And listen, I promise I'll get to the point in a second...

I mentioned "clocks" above. The fuck does that even mean? Well, different systems and different units connected together have varying levels of latency. We're talking very, very short amounts of time here, but it makes a huge difference.

What they do is get the entire signal into sync so a unified signal hits the speakers. There's no "blurriness" or shit like that...it's legitimately crystal clear. All the speakers have their own amplification...seemingly overpowered and redundant...but designed so that all the speakers are working at the ideal capacity. No overdriving or flubbiness or any of that shit.

I've never had a listening experience like I did Monday.

My teacher was giddy waiting for me to come over. I was his first test subject on these speakers, and I had no idea what I was walking into. When I say this guy is giddy, that's very unusual for his personality...he rarely gets excited about anything.

I didn't even get a chance to say hi. He tells me to put my guitar down and listen. For half of our lesson, he played a dozen examples of good and shitty recordings, orchestral stuff vs. solo stuff, different rooms, environments, mics.

I've had a lot of great listening experiences before on incredibly high end systems, but this time was different. The first song was a pianist and trumpet duo...if you asked me, I could tell you exactly in the room where the piano was. I would tell you that I could feel the breath of the trumpet on my face.

This is not hyperbole. The pyhsical experience was beyond mindblowing, and I cannot describe it accurately. It was something I'd never experience in my life.

You could hear background conversations on live jazz recordings. Fucking hear what the goddamned people were talking about in the 60's or whenever. IT WAS FUCKING INSANE. It was real life. I swear to god. I was pointing at shit, getting excited...and my teacher's just nodding along and smiling, having gone thru the same thing a few hours earlier. I can't believe how fortunate I was to get to experience this shit.

Appreciating this via text is impossible. It's highly unlikely that you'll get a chance to experience this type of sesnation yourself...simply because there's not much of it around to begin with. If you're used to listening to music on shitty systems...your car, thru a laptop, cheap headphones...hearing even an entry-level audiophile's setup would be a life-changing experience.

When you hear shit about how weird audiophiles are...and how crazy it is to spend money like that...just understand that there's a tremendous physical component to listening on these systems that you can't understand unless you feel it yourself. But it's not just a real sensation, but it's tremendously impactful.

The feeling I got Monday was profound. I'm not going to ever enter this world, but goddamn my already solid levels respect for what these types of systems can do went up exponentially after hearing what came out of those speakers.

My top title tracks of 2021

I am back on my bullshit<3 here's my top 10 plus little rants about why I love them coz I'm a nerd!

10. What I Said - VICTON

It just slaps besties. The brass hook is so catchyyyyyy and the top line too there's a perfect balance between repetition and new material - plus extreme variety in vocal sounds from victon themselves and with effected vocals. And we love an intro and coda that connect. No song on this list makes you wanna dance more than this one!!

9. Moonshot - N.Flying

Yoo Hweseung ... he's the best vocalist around and I won't hear anything else. I LOVE SLIDEY HIGH NOTES SO MUCH (see in 7 too) it makes me feel so ecstatic. And the brass hits after it and then the addition of the 'on and on shot' for the last chorus. It feels SO GOOD because hweseung has so much soul. The arrangement makes me so happy, the brass, the organ. A slide note to a fucking key change besties ... besties it's over.

8. Hello Future - NCT DREAM

Moonshine my most beloved producers, I would die for them. This song, this mv, this album, this whole era just makes me so happy !!! This instantly became my favourite nct title. It's so filled with good and hope and happiness and funky bestie vibes. As much as I needed emo songs this year, I also needed hello future. And finally a long-ish title track!! Like besties the whole last minute is chorus and extended outro AS IT SHOULD BE.

7. HWAA - (G)I-DLE

It's really just a beautiful song in its simplicity. The melodies are simple and scarce, the choreo is calm and confident, everything is slow and careful and yet they're singing about anger. I really admire idle for getting emotions across so honestly and this does that so well. Minnie's slide high note raising up til the breakdown chorus ... its SO EMOTIONAL I literally replay it whenever it's on.

6. My Turn - CRAVITY

Was joking for months that this post was gonna end up being a bunch of songs that make me cry and then vroom vroom vroom skrrt .... and I'm not that wrong fjjd. But this song is just amazing?? Pitched percussion is god given. The attitude and tone is so cool and cheeky and so cravity!! And as you can tell from no. 1 + 7 on this list I love me some melismatic af choruses so the second half of the choruses have me levitating<333

5. Goosebumps - ONF

It is one of the craziest songs I've ever heard and I fell in love with it immediately. It's so ONF - the in-your-face harmonic changes, extreme sonic differences between sections, fuckin weird structure and insane samples just because. The fact the first chorus is just Different to the others?? Just to fit More in the song??? There is so much in this song and it's overwhelming, I literally started laughing after listening to it the first time because I was that shocked. Honestly believe this is the height of music<3 it's weird and fucking INCREDIBLE.

4. LO$ER=LOVER - TXT

Started it. Had a breakdown. Bon appetit<3 I was debating for a long while whether I was gonna put this or lovesong on this list, I still cannot separate them, but I ended up with this one because of the energy. It's so Angry. My breakdown over lovesong was different from loser=lover, and with loser=lover I smiled like an insane person while crying because it is art made of Anger and I felt it. I am an ex emo kid and this came at a time when I had more anger than I ever had when I was listening to emo stuff, it hit home with a sound I've loved since I was 10 but now with adult emotions, so it hit Hard. Also I'm a beomgyu stan and him saying fuck has added a good 15 years to my life<3

3. LUNA - ONEUS

This song is stunning. Full stop. I love traditional Korean sounds and oneus killed it with this style yet again. The prechorus is Gorgeous... and the chorus. I wanna give rbw producers a kiss for how good they are at percussion. Usually the beat changes for the last chorus to bring in sm different but they do EVERY CHORUS DIFFERENTLY and it allows the beautiful top line to be repeated but with different feel and you are Far from bored. The choreo with the fans and the hanboks and the stunning mv just add to the beauty of it.

2. Drunk-Dazed - ENHYPEN

Besties ... I don't even know what to say she was meant for me. Modal mixture right off the bat .. repeated baseline hiding underneath the track the whole time... the Darkness, the Edge. This is the youthful edgy punky darkness I want, rather than the dramatic dark. And with enhypen they Are the music, their voices are mixed so perfectly into the track they become as much a part of it. I feel a lot of artists stay away from this to have have their vocals stand out more and make their recorded music sound as if it's live, and I understand it but I appreciate enhypen not doing that So much. Enha are Recording artists and its just So So Good.

1. Cinema - CIX

Oh cinema ... I fell in love with this song hard and it shows since it was my most played this year fjfj. It's so perfect. It's so easy. I bawled my eyes out the first time I listened to it, I cry almost every time I listen in its full quality. I smile So wide every time I hear Byunggon singing, or Seunghun's and Jinyoung's 'oh's into the chorus. There are certain songs that don't need raps, and cix know and can do that. There are certain songs that don't need to be busy, and cix know and can do that !!!! They are just incredible and have one of my fav discogs in kpop and it's a rare moment when I love a groups whole discog and a Title is my fav but cinema wins by miles ... it's a perfect song.
