I know you’ve seen Mea Culpa👀
You know I did 🫠
Tumblr media
It was good! It wasnt AS bad as I was thinking. It definitely couldve been better. Idk why Tyler Perry thinks its a flex to write, direct, and produce these movies in 20 days but he clearly has no real friends. No one's telling him to fn quit. And he needs some real therapy.
Its becoming abundantly clear how he really feels/thinks about Black women and men, specifically dark skinned Black people.
Either he wanted to fuck Trevante or wanted to be that character, maybe some combination of the two, but lawdt. I have more questions at the end of this than answers. But I'll take more Trevante. 🥵 baby, the way I want to rewrite that entire movie 🫠🫠🫠
Like forgive my ego, but it couldve been handled so much better! Spoilers under the cut!!!
See, me personally, I feel like Kelly played it entirely too cold. She was cleary bitter about her aint shit husband and I dont condone cheating, but if there was ever a good reason for it 😪
The mom was entirely too fuckin nasty towards her and Charlise. Entirely too much venom. Especially considering that you don't find out why until the last 30mins of the movie. And it comes off like emotional incest, because why is she that invested her in sons' lives???
I still dont know what happened with the blood and bone fragments found in the paintings. Sure you can say it was planted by the brother in law, but I needed that explicitly stated. Why were there paintings in the brother in laws house? Why did Zyair paint all over that lady's portrait?
Were they together? Chuz he said they werent and then referred to her as a gf? And why was Hydie hiding out in the DR, scared out of her mind if Zyair posed no threat to her?
I also dont know why TP loves hitting on Black women. Like that part of it was sooo unnecessary. Her WEAK ass husband didnt have to hit her in the end. And TP petty as hell for the bill scene. You KNOW that was in response to his BS commentary on how Black women need to be happy with the bare minimum.
Zyair could have been more interesting. He came off so pushy? More worried about getting her in bed than the seduction. The corruption. Slowly driving her insane with lust. I didnt like that she hopped on him after fucking the snow patrol, and in response to her weak ass husband. Like he shouldnt have been a factor. Fuck him 🤷🏽‍♀️
Plot holes aside, I genuinely did like it. I juss wish there was more than one sex scene between them. Because fuhhh that was hot 🥵🥵 Ill be honest, I wanted a court drama 😪🤣🤣
I do like that she didnt stay with him in the end and he continued bout his fuck boy activites. Hes so disrespectful. Jeebus, I need him 🥵🥵🥵

I think your analysis of the current BRF situation is SPOT ON.
However, as a Brit, I would like to add one further caveat. Whether the Sussexes become working royals is not down to the Sussexes, Charles, the Palace or anyone. It is down to the British public. The ENTIRE job of the British royal family is to bring a sprinkle of royal fairy dust and magic to an event or cause in a neutral, apolitical way that everyone can support. Be it the Duke of Gloucester popping into a local school initiative which is subsequently then reported in the local paper, or a glittering State banquet with many royals and tiaras garnering international headlines, that is what they do. In addition, a very few royals (currently William and Catherine, Charles and Camilla) have enough star power and magic (some combination of their titles and personal charisma - William has enough of both that he can bring people together on a global basis) that they can bring people together and CREATE events and initiatives (Earthshot, the Prince's Trust, the Early Years work, Queen Camilla's Lit Fest etc. etc.) but still it is the event, cause or initiative that is the important thing. Harry used to be in the latter camp, with his involvement and name being vital to creating things like Invictus or Sentebale but he has now thrown most of that goodwill away. Meghan has NEVER understood that she was supposed to be casting a spotlight on others, instead of making things all about her own celebrity (as is happening now with Invictus). Together they have created a Sussex brand that is so damaged and polarising that, rightly or wrongly, they would only bring negative publicity to whatever cause or event they were sent to support and people wouldn't want them there. The royal job only works if most people involved agree that royal attendance is a plus. These two have pissed off at least 75% of the British public. There is no way they can do the job, even if H&M, Charles, William and the Govt wanted them to, until their support is round 40-50% at least. That's why these polls happen. Yes, maybe they could embark on a long term rehabilitation process as has happened with Camilla and to a lesser extent the Edinburghs, but as you rightly point out, they a) don't have the patience b) would hate doing all the boring, small, bread & butter events that would entail c) are not getting any younger or more glamorous d) are being rapidly overtaken by the immense star power of the Wales kids. In fifteen years who would you rather attends your event? Bald Uncle Harry and his ageing sex kitten wife? Or young, beautiful Charlotte, Princess Royal?
Yep. It's the one thing universally understood: people in positions of power are only there by popular support. Doesn't matter whether it's soft power (eg celebrities, royal families, influencers, athletes) or hard power (eg governments, corporations, media).
There are also two ways to get popular support: by public consent (eg votes, likes, follower counts) or by leadership force (eg invasion, coups, control).
It looks like Harry and Meghan understand this, but they actually don't. They see Charles and William blocking their ascent to power via consent of the public, which leaves them no choice but to force their way to the top. It's is exactly what they've done: they're controlling press and media coverage (tell-alls about the horrors of the royal family while making sure there's only positive coverage of them), they've established a rival court, and they're securing allies (WME, Tyler Perry, Jamaica, veterans). All the signs are there: the Sussexes are launching a hostile takeover of the royal family. But where they keep fucking up is by not accounting for the British public.
They think if they just get rid of Charles and William, the public will love them. That's why all previous attempts of hostile takeovers (Oprah, Netflix, Spare) have failed; they don't realize that the British public is completely separate from the royal family.
Which is ironic because that's literally the lesson from Diana - the British public will support the people they like irrespective of what the royal family/monarchy tells them to do.

Never gonna forget that the only credible source and respected celebrity throughout the trial was a WHITE WOMAN.

not those male rappers who were dehumanizing her

Op-Ed: Megan Thee Stallion Is Owed a Massive Apology From Too Many Black Folks
Tumblr media
Image: Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images for iHeartRadio.
Black folks, we need to have a real chat.
Today, after a whirlwind trial filled with inaccurate reporting and malicious viewpoints, a jury found Canadian rapper Tory Lanez—born Daystar Peterson—guilty on all three charges in the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. Specifically, he was found guilty of assault with a firearm, negligent discharge of a weapon and possession of a concealed and unregistered firearm in a vehicle.
Zora Neale Hurston once wrote, “if you are silent about your pain, they’ll kill you and say you enjoyed it.” Although she spoke of the silence of Black figures and voices by way of white supremacy, the Black community exerted this same violence in the case of Megan Thee Stallion.
It's true that we often shy away from critiquing ourselves—meaning our community—as we receive a great deal of finger-pointing externally, but we cannot continue moving like this. This message is direct to you, Black people.
Leading up to this trial, Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, was met with such vitriol and disgusting hate for her decision to come forward against Peterson. As a result, she received death threats, has been slut-shamed, and was questioned about whether or not she was harmed and wrongfully disrespected for something she did not do to herself. Above all, an enraging level of misogynoir—a deeply inherent contempt, prejudice and dislike of Black women—was displayed across our community by not just Black men, but Black women and gender non-conforming folks as well.
This hatred of a Black woman with status, popularity and security in her being is not uncommon though. Famed track star FloJo even experienced it at the height of her career. There is a certain threat felt about Black women with the aforementioned traits as it goes against the constructed notions of subservience expected of her, both traditionally and historically.
This is a devastatingly overdue conversation we need to have in our community and not shy away from. As Malcolm X observed, the most disrespected person in America is the Black woman. Comedians cosplaying and mocking the worst parts of our women, the Tyler Perry shows that are unforgivingly crude in their depictions of us, and the misogynoir think pieces, podcasts, social media posts and blogs—they all profit off the disrespect of Black women.
If you are familiar with Megan's story, then you are aware of the compounded hardships she has experienced, especially as of lately. In court, she admitted to even having suicidal ideations because of the treatment she has gotten from people. This is unacceptable.
Is the placement of Black men on pedestals more important than the livelihood and well-being of others in our community?
This is not to say that the Black man is not deserving of protection, but it does not evade the need for total accountability. From the #MeToo Movement to women's rights, it seems that the over-glorification of Black men has emboldened many, regardless of gender, to be dismissive of the lived experiences of Black women. And we know where this comes from and what it is rooted in. But it does not mean that we cannot evolve or progress past such archaic thinking. We can no longer choose to stand by folks simply because of our connection to Blackness. It's not an "anti-Black Man agenda" or a need to vilify them. This behavior that our community has incessantly normalized is harmful and almost cost a young woman her life and dignity.
Now that Peterson has been found guilty, after two years of people caping for him blindly and wishing ill against the "Hot Girl," she deserves so many apologies from so many of us in the Black community.
All in all, Megan needed our support and too many of us failed her. Outside of the persona of who she is, Megan Thee Stallion is a Black woman who was victimized and ridiculed for coming forward about her mistreatment. Instead of being shown love and compassion, rappers wrote diss tracks about her, Black women shunned her from their so-called beloved sisterhood and unsolicited judges of public opinion deemed her unworthy of justice and care.
Unfortunately, this decision regarding Tory Lanez/Daystar Peterson will not bring her peace or real justice. She will continue to be seen as an outcast by a vast amount of people globally although she was the one shot.
Let this trial be a lesson about the importance of discernment when it comes to the media sources we consume, the words that come out of our mouths and a reminder to question your internalized misogynoir when situations like this occur. Analyze the ways in which you perpetuate hatred against Black women, may it be purposefully or not, so that you can properly show up for the Black women in your own respective lives.
No matter what happens after this guilty verdict, we should hope and pray that Megan Thee Stallion is uplifted by genuine people who hold her in the highest regard and will protect her.
No further questions.

I’m sure we all would’ve loved to see a black journalist get this same level of attention and accolades but that’s just not how it worked out. Urban media took Tory’s side despite his piss poor case. You anti bw cocksuckers have nothing to blame but yourselves Y’all dropped the ball heavily.
And that goes for urban media/black celebs that never acknowledged the situation until after the verdict was read. Not one of those fake af journalists urban /black media outlets nor those biiich arss celebrities (50 cent, Drake and akademics among others. )was correct throughout this whole time only a white woman was getting respect for being ethical and honest.
This case could have really been the one to open the door for black journalists! But instead they wanted to be the first with the "tea" an be apart of the trauma already being invoked upon a black woman while sucking on the peen of a violent degenerate
These gossip girlies and these biiich arss celebrities are going to the deepest pits of hell and for what? Two years of slutting themselves out for a little demon with violence tendencies and toxic masculinity? Talk about Huge opportunity wasted a disgrace and insult to credible and legendary black journalists and a disappointment to hardcore fans of faves who were willingly throwing away hard work and integrity to be such a whore for a demonic little man and dehumanize a bw smh!

Comeuppance
It feels like there has been a season of reckoning lately, like the pendulum has started to swing the other way in terms of old grievances and accountability. I’ve noticed it for a while, but it’s become more and more recognizable in the wild, since the whole Katt Williams/Club Shay Shay situation. If you’ve been living under a rock these past few weeks, Katt Williams basically went on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast and bombed out the entire comedy game. He sent shots to everyone; Kevin Heart, Steve Harvey, Tyler Perry, and Cedric the Entertainer. Hell, even Ludacris caught a stray and he was just existing. It was wild to see. The thing is, though, Katt has been saying the same goddamn thing for years. He’s been screaming about this same bullsh*t, for decades now. He’s been showing the same receipts for just as long. Obviously, there’s hyperbole in there, no one is reading three thousand books in a summer and I doubt mans can run a four flat at his age, but woven in all that blowhard bravado is real truth. Steve Harvey is a scumbag who stole Mark Curry’s entire career. Cedric the Entertainer did steal his joke. I don’t buy into the whole “Illuminati” sh*t but I wouldn’t discredit it all that much either. The Skull and Bones exist. So do the Free Masons. And black people are notorious for gate keeping It has long since been established that Oprah absolutely does not have the best interest of her people at heart and Tyler Perry is right up there with her. Mo’nique literally proved that with her Shay Shay expose. Like, she got Tyler Perry, on tape, admitting to and apologizing for, purposefully sabotaging her career. She also called out Kevin Hart for being a snake and Oprah for just being terrible to black people in general. Again, all sh*t she’s said before, for decades, but now, apparently, people are paying attention. They’re seeing the other side to the story and not just blindly following the narrative of the powerful. The entitlement is coming home to roost and it’s wild to see.
As a LAker fan, watching my team play the way they do is rough. I blame LeBron James. Wherever that dude goes, chemistry and coaching issues follow. Being “King James”, he has a certain amount of pull in the NBA, often exerting that leverage in very, personally benefiting, ways, the team be damned. We watched that sh*t in Cleveland the first time. Definitely saw it in Miami. More than witnessed it on the Cavs the second time around. Then it happened to my darling LAkers. LeBron has forced us to trade away strong assets to get AD, (which I’m not too upset about), has us mortgage our future with just SO many picks in an effort to build a “win now” team for him, handcuffed Pelinka into making terrible f*cking trades (Westbrick was a disaster for us), and cost us the best coach we’ve had since Jackson in Frank Vogel. All for a single Bubble championship. James has been doing this sh*t his entire career but, apparently, no longer. Pelinka made no moves at the deadline. He kept the assets we have. D.Lo is still a LAker and AR15 is developing into a proper leader. A few nights back, Bron and Ad sat out against, arguably, the best team in the league and thoroughly trounced Boston. More than that, these kids played ball with joy. They trusted each other. They were a team. That ball moved effortlessly to where it needed to go. They proved that we do not need James, or AD for that matter, and it’s thrown a wrench in James’ usually plans. His cryptic and childish tweeting fell on deaf ears. Rocking that Knicks towel moved no needles. Demanding that Darvin Ham be fired only got him a single game benching. Sh*t is not going the way it usually does and the “King” is hating that no one is recognizing his crown. I imagine James is feeling some kind of way because this is the first time in his career a franchise has properly told him “No.” We missed out on some solid trades and lost a ton of draft capital but, you know, better late than never. Speaking of…
Yo, Puff Daddy is going to f*cking prison! Never mind the stuff with Tupac and what not, though that sh*t is a whole situation prime for a deep dive, Cassie absolutely exposed dude! She got him on the hook for millions, forcing dude to sign over all the Masters he was holding to their respective artists, with a little bit of NDA incentive. Like, cats have been quietly suspect of Diddy for years. They were saying sh*t out loud, but not really pointing fingers, you know? I mean, 50 was but he built different. There was this air of invulnerability around Sean, one that has been three since the Nineties. Dude has been bulletproof since he “allegedly” had BIG killed because he was trying to get of Bad Boy. I mean, that was proven to be false, sort off. BIG was killed in retaliation for the Tupac hit; The one Diddy is being looked at for as we speak! But, again, that’s not what this is about. This is about how predatory this dude is, and has been, for years. Cats have been saying mans was weird. Rumors about him and Usher. Him and Fab. Up and coming artists, being raped in limos. Taking dudes “shopping.” Have all male orgies and sh*t. I’m over here asking what the f*ck Farnsworth know and why he fell of the face of the earth? Diddy is a devil in the music industry and Cassie has brought that violent asshole into the light. Cats are straight up telling on this man and sh*t is getting bad. We now know, for a fact, he is abusive. We now know, for a fact, he blew up Cudi’s car over Cassie. She has alluded to Diddy being responsible for Kim Porter’s death, among other, various, bodies. All things that have been whispered for years but never taken seriously. Now, after that multi-million dollar settlement, which is a low key admission of guilt, no one is afraid of the Big Bad Diddy. Everyone is coming to blow this man’s house down.
The big one for me, though, is how the entire international community, save the whitest countries in the union with the exceptions of Ireland, have completely turned on Israel. If you know me, you know I’m no fan of the Zionist State. I don’t see the difference between that, end European Imperialism. Neither should you, the sh*t goes hand in hand. It’s weird to me that everyone in “Western Civilization” (that’s code for white people), turn a blind eye to the atrocities these Ashkenazi assholes have been committing against Palestinians for decades. It’s like, just because the Holocaust happened to them, it’s fine if they do it to someone else. I’m not kidding about that, either. Germany has basically said as much. Now, them, the Germans, I can give a pass to for all of that Israel propaganda. They have a VERY deep seeded responsibility for a lot of what these assholes get away with, but everyone else? Like, Netanyahu has basically turned Israel into a Radical Jewish Terrorist State. and no one in the Western media cares. That’s not the narrative. Israel isn’t committing a genocide against the brown people who have lived on that land for centuries. I cannot tell you how frustrating it was to watch people defend Israel for committing actual war crimes and crimes against humanity, because if you didn’t, you were an anti-Semite. I mean, I could, because it happened to me, but lately? Not so much. Lately, cats are seeing Israel how I have seen them for most of my life. And the Hague agrees. The youngsters, agree. A lot more of my generation, agrees. Calls for a ceasefire have been ringing for months. People are heckling Biden, demanding action to stop this Zionist blood lust This is the first time, in my lifetime, that Israel isn’t getting away with their bullsh*t. People are doing things about it. Yemen is blockading supply shipments. Djibouti told the US to f*ck off when they wanted to install arms in their territory to bully Yemen into stopping their siege. Ireland has been acting a fool, calling out everyone in the EU who has backs the radical Israel regime, to their faces, even going so far as to disown Biden from his heritage. It’s nuts to see the chickens coming home to roost. There has been a shift in perception, sparks of rebelling against the narrative, flying across the globe. I am mad curious what’s going to happen in the future but, for the first time in a long time, I’m not so nihilistic about what comes next.

don't look up was not actually good, and tbh I very much resent oglethorpe's wig (all the wigs are awful. but especially his. what the fuck) + the fact that his character did not get fleshed out or have a family vs dicaprio & lawrence, but pleasantly surprised by chalamet's little side character who got shockingly some of the only & therefore best characterization and char development in the entire film... and this is also even accounting for the absolute lack of any chemistry between chalamet and jennifer lawrence whatsoever.
now, is that a low bar & a dis against the entire rest of the film? yes. especially, again, given that the ONE non tyler perry black character has NO dimension or backstory. hate that for us. but in a better world, the yule & oglethorpe characters + the leadup to that dinner scene would've been more thoroughly executed & well rounded in a much shorter & better apocalypse project.

regarding that recent ask about charlie… i totally agree with you, especially the last statement!
those people wanted him to ‘educate himself’ & speak out in some way & he tried: he followed those blm accounts, he got hate. he shared tyler perry’s speech (which sacha also did), but once again, only charlie got hate 🙄
i just don’t understand why his opinion matters to them so much; it’s almost like they think a post from charlie specifically will automatically make things better. he is 1 person, what can he really do?
honestly, i just wish we all can just appreciate the content about his life that he does choose to share with us, like his new pup Koa 🥺
(sorry for the rant 😭, just wanted to put my thoughts on this whole thing somewhere that isn’t my personal IG or anything like that & felt like you’d understand what i’m trying to say & you’d have a thoughtful response)
Im pretty sure you're thinking about this the way we all are. It's so confusing and heartbreaking as to why Charlie can't just live his life 🥺💔

idk if you have twitter, but there's this thing going on there about charlie being tone deaf about blm and asian hate and charlie stans throwing hate on the fans who are simply asking him to say smth about it and he even disabled his comments section bc of the amount of fans trying to get him to raise awareness on the matter, but so far he only threw a dodgy speech of tyler perry last night (all lives matter vibes) and chose to stay silent overall. I love the dude, but he's being really sus rn
I don’t have Twitter. I checked the Tyler Perry video, but I don’t believe it has ‘All Lives Matter’ vibes or that Perry was undermining the BLM movement. It was more so a plea to be kind to everyone, regardless of race or sexuality or gender or religion. (The only thing I found off-putting about it was the virtue-signalling with him helping the homeless person and making it out to be this grandiose thing - but I digress.)
Holding Charlie - or any celebrity - accountable is important, so it’s upsetting that his stans are getting spiteful. We should push influencers to be in the know, but we also can’t expect them to be vocal about every issue as everyone has their limitations. That being said, I understand it’s frustrating that he doesn’t speak about these issues.
Disabling comments on his most recent picture is either because he didn’t know how to handle the discourse, or because of the cyberbullying. We’re not in his head or of that of the team behind him.
If him not being vocal about these social issues causes you to feel drained and frustrated, then it’s best to unfollow him and separate actor from character. Protect your internet experience!

In Which Didi’s Life is A Tyler Perry Play

so in this verse, Delores’s grandma is ALIVE while her granddad is DEAD! So this means the Littlejohn empire is going quite strong with Liza’s ambition but -- don’t clap. Don’t smile.
ALTHOUGH ABUSIVE IN HIS OWN WAY, Amos did genuinely love Delores. Liza loves Delores - because she is her only granddaughter, but even with that said, it isn’t that strong unconditional love. She loves Delores as long as she’s perfect and does what she says. Ideally, Delores would inherit her criminal empire, but unfortunately she’s much too soft for Liza’s liking.             Delores never felt strong love for her grandmother. Liza was a disciplinary older woman to the point of abusing her physically whenever unimpressed with her actions, but also gave her many extravagant things so Delores would never resent her. Still, Delores was primarily afraid of her and always wondered why she didn’t have the soft grandmother that was on television. However, she’s also aware that her grandmother has a whole criminal empire.         She’s [briefly] seen the meetings, but in her youth she has witnessed her grandmother flip a table at her uncle and even cut a man. From the get-go, Didi never wanted to be involved with organized crime. She doesn’t hate people who are apart of it but, her grandmother in particular is so cruel that she decided she never wanted to be that sort of person.          So Didi graduates high school and wants to go to a college with a dance program, out of state. Liza tells Didi no, she wasn’t going to be a ballerina, she was going to focus on accounting and law. At first giving in and agreeing, Didi silently decided that wasn’t what she wanted to do with her life. She applied for the college she truly desired, with hopes that her grandmother would still love her and admire her ambition -- but she didn’t.           In fact, Liza cut Delores off in terms of financial support.            Broke and without any family members to lean on, Didi ( taking advice from a friend ) decided to become a sugar baby. Guy one was in his early 40s. Immature, forceful. They only went on a date for three in a half days before guy two came along, meeting Didi and her date by chance in a casual public setting. He was mature, pretty old, and seemed like an all around good person.         Didi used this opportunity to cut him loose, and a platonic friendship began with the new man. Really, it was all just platonic in the beginning. He had stories to tell, Didi would listen for hours. It was she who made the first few moves, kissing him on the cheek, admitting she really liked being around him despite their age gap. And like that, he was paying for her housing and education.           A bit later, she would discover this man was apart of a crime family. It overwhelmed her, but she stayed since she is accustomed to the lifestyle. Over the years, Didi gradually started feeling like a concept. Not a person. Ballet emphasized perfection. Her social media is very neat and clean because she wants potential employers to see her as good. Her sugar daddy literally put her on an untouchable pedestal too. The two of them never had intercourse - she was more or less an outlet for his voyeuristic, purity kink that didn’t get her off at all.          But even then, over the course of five years he grew neglectful to her emotional needs. Ultimately she meets Sal, who (for better or worse) approaches her like a human being and she grows attached over time. A brief affair between them starts, but Didi’s partner is killed in a gang dispute before anything bad came of it.            She and Sal begin dating, for a bit, but ultimately break up at multiple points. This is because first and foremost, Didi’s trying to navigate life and make her own decisions. Figure out what she wants.

BIO.  we need sluttier music…..
cricket juliet rigby was born to arthur godwin rigby and sonya marie rigby nee bankcult right here in good old somewhere florida. the story is that her parents were actually on their way out of town when cricket decided to ‘jump’ out of her mother’s belly and arrive to the party early. her parents always liked to tell the story like it was cute or funny or something but kit always saw it a bit differently. she had her chance to get out and she screwed it up. and now she’s literally never left this hell hole since. it’s like she got impatient and accidentally screwed herself over for it. and if that isn’t foreshadowing for the rest of her life she doesn’t know what is.
it was her mom’s idea to name her cricket. she said it was because of the way she used to kick with both legs in the womb. like she was jumping. her father found her name ridiculous and insisted on calling her juliet, but that was to be expected. her mother was always the fanciful one out of the pair of them. you see, ricki’s father was a pretty successful lawyer and her mother was a children’s book illustrator. to put it simply her father was the type of person to give kids floss on halloween and her mother was the type to slip you a cookie when the ‘adults’ weren’t looking. they were complete opposites, honestly to the point where sometimes cricket didn’t even understand how her parents got together. but somehow against all odds they did, and they stayed together to boot. loved each other too. her mother always made her father loosen up a bit and her father usually kept her mother grounded. they suited each other, and they adored each other in a way cricket never really saw any other parents doing. well, until they didn’t.
if cricket didn’t understand how her parents got together she sure understood why they didn’t stay together. you’d have to be blind as a bat to not see that one coming.
her parents fought constantly as cricket got older. the kind of loud, explosive fights that woke a kid up in the middle of the night and made the neighbors look at you with sympathy. there was no abuse or anything serious like that, or even cheating. her parents simply stopped liking each other. and that was honestly even scarier. that her parents could simply wake up one day and not like each other anymore.
they called it quits when cricket turned thirteen. her mother broke the news to her over a shared joint on the beach. and honestly, it wasn’t really the kind of news you wanted to process while high, but well, nobody ever asked cricket. nobody ever really asked cricket anything.
but well, her mother asked cricket one thing. to break the news to her little sister. cause yeah, she had one of those. kimberly. a regular sensible name for a regular sensible girl. not that there’s anything wrong with being regular or sensible. it’s just that cricket and her mother were neither of those things. if cricket took after her mother, then kimberly took after their father. her baby sister wanted to be an accountant for god’s sake. what six year old wants to be an accountant?
anyways, cricket played messenger. she broke the news to her sister and comforted her in the aftermath. she listened to her mother as she told fanciful, beautiful stories about how much more she wanted from her life. and one sunny thursday afternoon, the very thursday she got her first period, the very thursday that a girl really needs her mom, like really needs her mom, she came home and didn’t have one anymore. or a sister either apparently. all she had was a dad crumpled on the living room floor around a heart shaped sticky note of all things.
who leaves their fucking family with a fucking sticky note?
apparently dad was the only one in the family who didn’t know he and mom were over. cricket would feel bad about it if she wasn’t so busy feeling sorry for herself. because apparently her mother packed up her and kimmy’s things, picked up kimberly from school and just left somewhere forever. leaving cricket behind. just like that. cricket didn’t understand it. just the night before her and her mother were laying back on her bed, laughing. and now she was tossed aside like a discarded toy. second best in a two person race. cricket had never quite dealt with abandonment until that moment, but her first taste of it hurt like a bitch. it hurt all over.
but things only got worse. cause then came stella. stella was cricket’s godmother. her mother’s best friend. the woman who would slip cricket money so she could buy herself a red lipstick at the mac counter or pick herself up that tube top she’d been wanting so badly. the woman who came with cricket and her mother when she got her first bra. the woman who was supposed to be there for her in the aftermath of all this. but apparently stella took the job a bit too seriously.
she fucked her father. and not long after that she married him. cricket fought them every step of the way, but they still did it. and well, she had to live with it. her mother and best friend was gone, and this impostor was taking her place. and her father was just letting it all happen. in fact he was happy to do it. that’s what he kept telling her anyways. to let him be happy. that he deserved to be happy. but didn’t she deserve to be happy too?
her mother sent letters sometimes, and kimmy would occasionally call the house. cricket never opened the letters, and she never really spoke much to kimmy. i mean, it wasn’t kimberly’s fault, and cricket knew that. after all, she was six. she never had a choice either. but cricket couldn’t help being jealous of the little shit. kimberly missed dad so much and she wanted to come home. but she was out of somewhere, and she was with mom. she had everything cricket ever wanted and she wasn’t even appreciating it. it was a hard pill to swallow. eventually cricket started cutting the calls short.
cricket and her father never saw eye to eye. he kicked her out of the house when she was seventeen after an argument between cricket and stella got so bad that things got physical on both their parts. and instead of kicking out the woman who hit his daughter, arthur got rid of the daughter instead. cricket didn’t mind. she simply went to live with her boyfriend at the time (who much like all of cricket’s boyfriends in the past was handsome, cool, and most importantly old enough to have his own place). after that she never really turned back. just... moved from boyfriends place to boyfriends place to girlfriends place to boyfriends place. saw her dad on holidays or when she needed money or under duress. and stayed in somewhere. for now.
PERSONALITY.  feeling like the prettiest girl in the crawl space right now
as you can probably tell from that mess of an bio, this is my first time playing cricket so i don’t really have her personality nailed down yet BUT
ECCENTRIC. cricket got her mother’s weird hippy gene for sure honestly. she might even be an artist lowkey because of it. definitely is the type to just say weird as hell shit without shame. your local manic pixie dream girl tbh
PROMISCUOUS. she a hoe and that’s a fact. love that for her though! gets around and is pretty shameless about it honestly. just here for a good time. kind of charming naturally and just generally like?? flirtatious?? the type to flirt with a cop to get out of a ticket. also the type to cry to get out of a really bad dad. the type to go on a date just cause her fridge is empty and yk a girl’s gotta eat. the kind of girl who had a bunch of rumours about her in high school like that she slept with so and so under the bleachers at an assembly or that she once did something nearly impossible on a trampoline.
CONTRADICTORY. cricket is a compassionate person but she can also hold a grudge for a long ass time. still doesn’t really talk to her mom or little sister. but if you need a ride across town cricket will just give it to you even if she barely knows you. if you’re hungry and come to the roller rink she will slip you some fries free of charge even if she’ll probably get in trouble for it. will fight her stepmom ON SIGHT and slam a bitch down during roller derby but like will get so excited over something simple like the moon being out sdkdskj this bitch makes no sense y’all.
MYSTERIOUS. at least to other people i feel like. cricket doesn’t really talk about herself or serious things, and she will change the topic if someone is getting too close. she’s the type who doesn’t open up easy, and therefore the type that a lot of guys like... idealize and build up into this mysterious untouchable thing yk? but she’s just a dumb girl who doesn’t want to talk about her feelings underneath it all sdkjdkj she’s just stupid
HEADCANNONS. at least whatever is wrong with me is really really funny
lost her virginity at fourteen around the anniversary of her mother leaving. unfortunately the type who seeks love and acceptance in all the wrong places. tends to self sabotage when things are too good, or literally just go for people who are bad for her. bi af tho hey~ has been in more relationships than she can count for sure. will duck behind a wall when she sees any of her exes at the grocery store.
does ROLLER DERBY! will fight a bitch in the ring! very good at it despite how cute and angelic she looks sdksdk can and WILL slam a bitch into a wall. it’s just a fun hobby for her, but she loved the camraderie of it honestly. her team is a ragtag group of misfits and i Love them
like i said in the chat, will now put up posters around town with a cute little polaroid of herself and her number on those little tab things just for shits and giggles to see who calls. will completely prank anyone who does call for fun
idk why but i feel like the roller rink is called l8r sk8r or something cheesy like that,,, i feel it in my Soul. also imagine the type of place where cricket goes around on rollerblades serving food, so yeah, you can order food probably and some showy girl on rollerblades will serve it to you
has been a muse before. like guys have written songs about her in high school. one guy painted a portrait of her and it went in a literal gallery. is always very flattered but very like,,, cool thanks bye!
i totally forgot to include this but the rigby’s are rich y’all. like country club rich. her daddy’s got that big money and their house is Huge but you would never be able to tell by the way cricket acts, she’s a mess.
speaking of, her name is indeed cricket (rip) but you can call her kit, kitty, rick, ricki, jiminey,,, all of it is valid
the vibe is madchen amick folks,,, that’s the whole vibe and honestly she’s probably cricket’s style inspo like twin peaks??? maybe her favourite show
a feel like she might also be a lifeguard as a side hustle, but she only ever fills in when no one else can you know. she’s the emergency call in, and when she’s there she spends most of her time sitting in her lifeguard chair in her little red swim suit and flirting with whoever comes by to see her like sdkjsd is she good at her job? no. does she bring traffic to the beach? probably!
WANTED CONNECTIONS.  i’m saving my brain for special occasions. if i use it every day it’ll get dirty
i would love an ex for her honestly,,, an ex bf or gf where cricket sabotaged things just when they were getting good? an ex on good terms maybe! an ex will they won’t they thing where they almost got together but never did? an old childhood crush for either party! a childhood enemy is also sexy! an old neighbor! someone who’s sibling she used to date or something! someone new to town that she’s intrigued by! someone new to town she doesn’t get along with (maybe cause of a bad first impression or something?) a one night stand! a fwb! a ewb! a BEST FRIEND GOD PLEASE! m or f i am down either way. i would kill for a girl squad though. maybe an ex best friend who hates cricket cause she slept with their boyfriend in high school or something. a party friend! someone she does roller derby with. someone she always sees in the crowd during roller derby. idk someone who she regularly sees at the motel she has her hookups at, maybe cause they’re also hooking up or maybe cause they just come to the motel often for some reason or honestly maybe they’re a vacationer that would make sense. uh someone she saved from drowning one time! OH someone she pretended to be dating to make an ex jealous or avoid one or something at one point,,,and anything else tbh we can absolutely brain storm! like this and i will slide into your dms <3

Jill Scott
Tumblr media
Jill Scott (born April 4, 1972) is an American singer-songwriter, model, poet and actress. Her 2000 debut, Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1, went platinum, and the follow-ups Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2 (2004) and The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3 (2007) both achieved gold status. She made her cinematic debut in the films Hounddog and Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married? in 2007.
After a four-year hiatus from music, Scott released her fourth album, The Light of the Sun, in 2011. In 2014, she starred in the film Get On Up as the second wife of James Brown. She also appeared as the lead role in the BBC/HBO series The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency based on the novels of the same name by Alexander McCall Smith. In 2015, she released her fifth album, Woman.
Early life
Scott was born on April 4, 1972 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She grew up an only child in a North Philadelphia neighborhood, raised by her mother, Joyce Scott and grandmother. She recalls a happy childhood and was "very much a loved child". Scott was raised as a Jehovah's Witness.
After graduating the Philadelphia High School for Girls, Scott attended Temple University. While working two jobs, she studied secondary education. She planned to become a high school English teacher. However, after three years of study and then serving as a teacher's aide, Scott became disillusioned with a teaching career, and she dropped out of college.
Career
2000–09: Words and Sounds albums
Scott began her performing career as a spoken word artist, appearing at live poetry readings to perform her work. She was eventually discovered by Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson of the Roots. Questlove invited her to join the band in the studio. The collaboration resulted in a co-writing credit for Scott on the song, "You Got Me". In 2000, Erykah Badu and the Roots won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for "You Got Me", and Scott debuted as an artist during a Roots live show, singing as original artist/singer of the song. Subsequently, Scott collaborated with Eric Benet, Will Smith, and Common, and broadened her performing experience by touring Canada in a production of the Broadway musical Rent.
Scott was the first artist signed to Steve McKeever's 'Hidden Beach Recordings' label. Her debut album, Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1 was released in 2000. She experienced some notice and chart success with the single "A Long Walk", eventually earning a Grammy nomination in early 2003 for Best Female Vocal Performance. Scott lost that award, but won a 2005 Grammy for Best Urban/Alternative R&B Performance for "Cross My Mind". The live album, Experience: Jill Scott 826+, was released November 2001. Scott's second full-length album, Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2, followed in 2004.
Scott continues to write poetry; a compilation volume of her poems, The Moments, The Minutes, The Hours, was published and released by St. Martin's Press in April 2005.
In early 2007, Scott was featured on the George Benson and Al Jarreau collaboration single "God Bless The Child" (written by Billie Holiday), which earned Scott her second Grammy award, Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance, at the 2007 Grammy Awards ceremony. Scott shared the win with Benson and Jarreau. In 2006, Scott was prominently featured on hip hop artist Lupe Fiasco's single "Daydreaming", which won a 2008 Grammy for Best Urban/Alternative Performance and also appeared on a new Scott collection called Collaborations on January 30, 2007.
The Collaborations collection served as "an appetizer" for her next studio album, The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3 released September 25, 2007. A clip of the title track was released on a bonus disc from Hidden Beach Records and included with Collaborations. The lead single "Hate on Me", gained airplay in May 2007 with a video released in mid-July. In advance of the album's release, Hidden Beach released a 17-minute album sampler through their forums. Interspersed between the dozen songs previewed on the sampler was a personal explanation from Jill for the inspiration behind some of her songs.
In 2008, Scott released her second live album, Live in Paris+, which consists of 8 songs recorded during her set list of the "Big Beautiful Tour" in Europe. The bonus DVD contains the same concert, plus some live cuts from The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3. In the same year, "Whenever You're Around", a single from The Real Thing, which features George Duke, was a moderate hit on urban radio.
2010–12: Hidden Beach lawsuit, The Light of the Sun, and tour
Early in 2010, Scott was sued by Hidden Beach Records for leaving halfway through her six-album contract and owing millions of dollars in damages. The label's founder, Steve McKeever, claimed that he helped launch Scott's career and nurtured her into a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, but was unceremoniously dumped in October after a 10-year plus relationship. Scott, however, countersued that claim.
To offset the damages, Hidden Beach planned to release several compilation albums consisting of previously unreleased material by Scott. The first album in this series was The Original Jill Scott from the Vault, Vol. 1. Previously titled Just Before Dawn, the album was asked to be paused by Scott so that fans would not get confused with the new material she was releasing entitled The Light of the Sun being released under a distribution deal that Scott and Warner Brothers signed in early 2011. The deal gives Scott direct control over her marketing and promotions and releases her music under her imprint of Blues Babe Records. She also signed a multi-tour deal with Live Nation to expand her concert touring.
The Light of the Sun officially began production in 2010. Scott gave fans a preview of the music on her 18 city venue, co-headlining tour with R&B singer Maxwell, Maxwell & Jill Scott: The Tour. After tour, Scott began studio sessions with the album's executive producer, JR Hutson. Recording sessions took place in several locations including 9th Street Studios, Studio 609, Fever Recording Studios in North Hollywood, California, Threshold Sound & Vision in Santa Monica, California, and The Studio in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, The Boom Boom Room in Burbank, California, and The Village Studios in West Los Angeles, California. It features collaborations from Anthony Hamilton, Eve, Doug E Fresh, and Paul Wall. The album was released for pre-order days before it was officially released on June 21, 2011. It debuted at #1 on the US Billboard 200 chart, with 135,000 copies sold in its first week, becoming her first #1 debut on the chart.
The album was preceded by the promo single "Shame", which was released on Scott's SoundCloud account in April 2012. The single features the rapper Eve and R&B trio The A-Group. The video was released on Essence.com on April 13. The album's official debut single was "So in Love" featuring Anthony Hamilton. It was released in April and debuted at #43 on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, Scott's highest debut on that chart. It peaked at #10, and tied a record with Maxwell's "Fortunate" for spending 14 weeks at #1 on the Urban Adult Contemporary Chart.
Scott promoted the album with several tactics including The Light of the Sundays, several online Essence interviews, and releasing the album as an iTunes LP, giving fans exclusive photos and videos. Scott also embarked on her Summer Block Party tour sponsored by Budweiser's Superfest. The tour was a hit, selling out venues throughout the country with opening acts Anthony Hamilton and legendary group Mint Condition. It also featured Doug E Fresh as the host and DJ Jazzy Jeff as the DJ. The album's second official single, "So Gone (What My Mind Says)" featuring Paul Wall was released in August 2011, and the video premiered on September 13 on E! Online. It has peaked at #28 on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Scott also released a video for the song "Hear My Call". The project gained Scott four NAACP Image Awards including Outstanding Female Artist, Outstanding Music Video ("Hear My Call"), Outstanding Song ("So in Love"), and Outstanding Album (The Light of the Sun).
2013–present: Lullaby album and fifth studio album "Woman"
During her performance at the Essence Festival, Scott indicated the intention of releasing an album of lullabies. Her album Woman is the first album she has released on Atlantic Records. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, with 58,000 copies sold in its first week.
Other appearances and songwriting
Her live performance in 2004 with members of The Roots, which also includes a joint performance with Erykah Badu, is featured in Dave Chappelle's 2006 concert film, Dave Chappelle's Block Party. UK dance duo Goldtrix covered Scott's song "It's Love", renaming it "It's Love (Trippin')" with singer Andrea Brown taking over vocal duties. The song became a top ten hit in the UK, peaking at number six. Jill is also featured on a Lupe Fiasco song named "Daydreaming". "It's Love (Trippin')" was also covered by South West Beats (featuring Claudia Patrice) in 2008. The song "Golden" is featured in a R&B themed radio station in the Rockstar Games video game Grand Theft Auto IV. She recently appeared on Pharoahe Monch's 2011 release W.A.R. (We Are Renegades). Also Jill is one of the featured artists in Kirk Franklin's video "I Smile" released in 2011. In 2012 rapper Substantial released "Jackin' Jill". The album was recorded as a tribute to Jill's voice and songwriting. In 2015 she was featured on Dr. Dre's third album. In 2016, she was featured on The Hamilton Mixtape.
Style
Scott is a soprano who infused jazz, opera, R&B, spoken word, and hip hop in a style sometimes called neo soul. A reviewer at Pop Matters, referring to Scott's vocal ability (1st soprano), stated, "Scott draws on her upper register, recalling the artistry of the late 'songbird' Minnie Riperton and Deniece Williams." The same reviewer in another article stated, "The song evokes the artistry of Minnie Riperton as Scott sings in the upper register that makes its only appearances on 'Who is Jill Scott?' on the teasing 'I Think It's Better' and 'Show Me'."
Film and television
On the advice of her good friend, director Ozzie Jones, she began pursuing a career in acting in 2000. She joined a fellowship at a theater company in Philadelphia. For two years, she took menial jobs in exchange for acting lessons. In 2004, Scott appeared in several episodes of season four of UPN's Girlfriends, playing Donna, a love interest to main character, William Dent (Reggie Hayes). She also appeared in the Showtime movie Cavedwellers, starring Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick.
Her first feature film appearances occurred in 2007, when Scott appeared in Hounddog (as Big Mama Thornton) and in Tyler Perry's movie, Why Did I Get Married? In 2008, Scott appeared as Precious Ramotswe in Anthony Minghella's film adaption of Alexander McCall Smith's series of books The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency playing a detective. Scott then filmed additional episodes for the series in Botswana in late 2008, co-funded by the BBC and HBO, that were broadcast as a seven-part series on BBC1 in March 2009; and on HBO, which debuted March 29, 2009. BBC and HBO are contemplating whether to produce a second round of episodes of the series.
In 2010, she provided the voice of Storm of the X-Men on the BET series Black Panther. On March 24, 2010, she guest-starred in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She reprised her role as Sheila in Why Did I Get Married Too? (2010). The movie was shot in August 2009 and received an April 2, 2010 release. That same year, Scott starred in the Lifetime movie Sins of the Mother as Nona, an alcoholic mother confronted by her estranged daughter whom she neglected. At the 42nd NAACP Image Awards, Scott was awarded Outstanding Actress in a Television Movie, Mini-Series or Dramatic Special for her role in Sins of the Mother.
In May 2012, Scott appeared on VH1 Storytellers. She performed a few of her most notable songs such as "Golden" and "He Loves Me." With wig as well as costume changes, she created characters to fit each song. Later in 2012 she starred with Queen Latifah, Alfre Woodard, Phylicia Rashad, Adepero Oduye, and Condola Rashad in Steel Magnolias, a remake of the 1989 original for Lifetime. She played Truvy Jones, a role originated by Dolly Parton. In December 2012, Scott appeared in "The Human Kind", the eighth episode of the fifth season of Fringe. She starred with Paula Patton and Derek Luke in Baggage Claim (2013), the film adaptation of playwright David E. Talbert's 2005 novel of the same name. In January 2015 she co-starred with Regina Hall and Eve in the Lifetime movie With this Ring.
Personal life
Scott and long-term boyfriend Lyzel Williams, a graphic artist and DJ, married in 2001 in a private Hawaiian ceremony during a vacation. The couple dated for seven years before they wed. Scott wrote and recorded the song "He Loves Me (Lyzel in E Flat)" about Williams. After six years of marriage, Scott and Williams divorced in 2007.
Scott has resided in Mount Laurel Township, New Jersey, and California. As of December 2014, she has been living in Tennessee.
On June 20, 2008, at a concert in New York's Carnegie Hall, Scott shared a long on-stage kiss with her drummer, Li'l John Roberts; the couple then told the audience that they were engaged. Their son, Jett Hamilton Roberts, was born on April 20, 2009. On June 23, 2009, Scott announced that she and Roberts had broken up, with Scott breaking the news to Essence magazine. Despite the break-up, Scott hopes for both parents to have an active part in their child's upbringing, stating that "We definitely love our son and we are co-parenting and working on being friends. It is what it is. I have a lot of support, so I want for nothing as far as that's concerned." Scott referenced the break up as some of her latest music's inspiration.
On June 25, 2016, Scott married another long-term boyfriend Mike Dobson in a private ceremony. In 2017, after 15 months of marriage, she filed for divorce from Dobson.
Philanthropy
Scott has established the Blues Babe Foundation, a program founded to help young minority students pay for university expenses. The foundation offers financial assistance to students between the ages of 16 and 21 and targets students residing in Philadelphia, Camden, and the greater Delaware Valley. Scott donated USD$100,000 to start the foundation. The foundation was named after Scott's grandmother, known as "Blue Babe."
In Spring 2003, the Blues Babe Foundation made a donation of more than $60,000 to the graduating class of the Creative Arts School in Camden. Any student during the ensuing three years who maintained a 3.2 GPA qualified for a stipend toward his or her college education.
At the Essence Music Festival in July 2006, Scott spoke out about how women of color are portrayed in hip-hop songs and music videos. Scott criticized the content for being "dirty, inappropriate, inadequate, unhealthy, and polluted" and urged the listening audience to "demand more."

Holding Out For a Hero
Tumblr media
Gif Not Mine
Warnings: very little cussing, angsty!
A/N: I actually love this so damn much I am dying to write part two, but only if it’s well liked
Summary: Soulmate AU with Thor. Not much else to say without giving it all away. Based on “Holding out for a hero” by bonnie tyler. Listen here.
Y/N knew who her soulmate was. In theory. She knew everything but his name. She didn’t care his name, so long as she got what she wanted. And she would, she could feel it in her bones. The crack of electricity that told her, he was near, hit her all the time in the city.
This soulmates thing didn’t come easy. There was no way to know you were right, save for a gut feeling. Y/N asked her mother one day how she would know. Her mother smiled like she had expected this question and knew just what to say. “You’ll know when the world stops turning, and the tides freeze over, and lightening hits you. You’ll know when he kisses you and you want to melt away and be closer all at the same time. You’ll know when your heart tells you it feels right.”
Although her heart had told her ‘this feels right’ before. It sure felt right when Jesse Rossen took her to the movies and they held hands at 14, or when at 16 she made out with Tiffany Perry in the back of her brothers car. She was sure both times they were her soulmates. But each time she was proved wrong when the feelings faded. Tiffany was the worst. She broke her heart when she found her real soulmate after three years together. Y/N felt crushed. She was sure her own soulmate could feel her hurt through their bond.
The bond soulmates shared was really a special thing. At least that’s what her father would tell her. Your soulmate could feel your emotions or even pain if it’s strong enough. There are stories of mates being so well matched and bonded that they can even bond their minds. It was rare, and there had only ever been one account of it happening, in a children’s tale, meant to ease their minds about mates.
Y/N felt a chill up her spine. The kind she only got from the bond while seeing a city destroyed to save the world. She felt scared seeing the havoc, yet through her bond she felt strength and a thrill for the fight. The chill wasn’t from being scared, it was from the bond. It was her soulmate gearing up to battle. This is how Y/N knew who he was. She would turn down any man who didn’t show signs of heroism.
“He’s gotta be strong, he’s gotta be sure, and he’s gotta be larger than life.” Y/N got that dazed look in her eyes whenever she talked about her soulmate. Her best friend Cherry smiled and looked away from the news. “That’s a lot for one man to be.” She sipped her beer. “It must be a woman.” Cherry grinned like a wolf and pinched Y/N’s leg. Y/N jumped back in her seat, and swatted at her hand. “No I can tell. I can feel the need to rush in without a plan, and that’s no woman.” Cherry gripped her arm, “have you ever thought,” she trailed off but pointed to the T.V.
Y/N was thoughtful for a moment. Of course she never thought she would be mated to an avenger. She only laughed and shook her head as she watched the fight. “He’s probably an underground MMA fighter, who gets his kicks running from the law.” Cherry smiled in amusement. “Maybe he’s a rodeo cowboy.” Y/N bit her lip to stop the smile. “Hey, I love southern accents.” She nudged her friend with an elbow. “Well there you go! We’ll just fly down to Texas, you’ll get hitched and can double with me and Noah.” The look on her face made Y/N laugh. “C’mon let’s get out of here.”
They gathered their bags and Y/N felt a great surge of love through her bond. She looked up at the news. The fighting was over and they had caught Thor stealing a kiss from his scientist girlfriend. Quickly she looked away. Their PDA made her uncomfortable.
It had been a week since the battle. Y/N still hadn’t found her soulmate but she felt him near. She felt electricity in her palms almost daily, the waves crashing was ringing in her ears, and the moon looked bigger, even hypnotizing. Her blood felt like it was on fire one day while at a little café near her home. She knew it was him. No, she wasn’t ready! She wasn’t presentable; she didn’t know what to say! Then it faded until it was a faint glow, than nothing. He walked right past her! He must have known she was here, he must have felt it too! She focused on the bond. She needed to feel what he feels and she needed to know now. She felt nothing. They hadn’t built their bond enough yet. She felt so disappointed. So much for hero.
Y/N wanted to chase after him, but she didn’t. He doesn’t want her, that was obvious with how he left her there. Her favorite café should have been the place they take their children and tell them how mommy and daddy met. They should have shared a milkshake and childhood stories, instead she was walking home alone. Y/N just couldn’t handle this. She knew she was a strong woman but this was a whole lot to take. She wished she could turn this bond off, she didn’t want him to feel her hurt.
She was out again for the first time in a week. Cherry was dragging Y/N to the dance floor while Noah sat back and watched their table. Y/N couldn’t help blurting out while they danced, “I felt him today.” Cherry’s eyes went wide and she stopped dancing to grab Y/N’s hands “He didn’t want me Cher.” Y/N felt her eyes go damp and her breathing hitch. Cherry glanced around before dragging her back to the table.
“It’s ok sweetheart, just… what happened?” Concern was written all over Cherry’s face and Noah sat back a little unsure of what to do before deciding to hold Y/N’s hand. Cherry rubbed Y/N’s thigh while she let out a few tears. “I waited for so long,” Y/N sobbed out “Honey just tell us what happened.” Cherry knew just how to comfort her but right now she just needed to work her past the tears.
Y/N wept quietly in their dark corner before she spoke. “I was in the café and I felt it. It was amazing, just like my mom said. The world stopped. It was amazing.” She whispered. “Then it was just gone. He walked away, he didn’t want me.” Y/N bit her lip to stop her crying. “He was supposed to be my hero, strong and sure, but he’s a coward.”
Cherry had never seen her best friend talk this way about her soulmate. No matter what shame she felt from him it was always justified somehow. Y/N grabbed the arms of the two people she was with. “He’s here.” She whimpered. “I can feel it, he’s watching me.” Y/N couldn’t look away from the table. She didn’t want to see her soulmate, she was mad at him. “Go find him, confront him!” Both Cherry and Noah were nudging her on, but she stayed put. “He’s the strong one. The one who’s so sure. He obviously knows who and where I am. I can wait.” Noah rolled her eyes. “You two are already fighting like an old married couple. Get your ass up and go tell him off.”
Y/N crossed her arms stubbornly. She huffed out an angry breath and whipped her eyes on a napkin. “Fine but I won’t be happy about it.” Y/N stood from the table and walked to the dance floor. The electricity in her bones felt so strong she felt like she was on cloud nine. She tried so hard to stay angry but the feelings he was giving her was making it so difficult. She trudged on, looking for her one. She neared the door, the heat in her stomach was fading and she knew he was leaving her again. Y/N couldn’t let him. Her fingertips tingled with adrenaline and anxiety. She rushed out the door into the pouring rain.
The streets were empty save for one man with his back to her, walking away. Y/N shouted for him to wait. She knew it was him; she felt the chill that told her he was ready for this battle. She gave up on telling him off, she was prepared to be the girl standing in front of the boy, but something felt off.
Y/N’s soulmate stopped and turned around. The darkness hid his face under a hood but she could see his tall, well-built form. Lightening cracked behind him and she was sure it was God trying to intimidate her. Instead she walked forward a few steps. “You left me. I know it was you. I felt it, but you left.” She mentally high fived herself.
He wanted to smile at the surge of self-confidence he felt through their bond, but he could taste the hint of fear. Fear that he would reject her to her face. “I know you, you’re not one to be scared. In fact you rush in, you’re brash, and-.” She looked down at her soaked dress and limp hair. God she must look an absolute mess. “You’re a warrior.” She looked back at his face. She still couldn’t see him, but she wasn’t going to look away. “So why did you run away?”
The man stepped forward. Slowly he came to a stop in front of her and she watched as his features manifested. A quiet gasp escaped her lips. “You?” Thor said nothing, just shrugged off his jacket and wrapped it around the small frame of his soulmate. He tried to ignore the way his heart hummed at the sight of her in his clothes. She looked so magnificent. “I can’t do this. You can’t be my soulmate, I already have Jane.”
“Jane.” She said her name, testing it out on her tongue. It tasted like venom and yet she couldn’t hate the girl, it wasn’t her fault. “She means a lot to you?” Thor nodded quickly. “She’s great,” he said, but he didn’t believe it. Not anymore, not with his real soulmate standing right in front of him. Y/N stepped even closer, nearly touching. “You love her?” Thor’s heart ached at when her voice cracked. He was hurting her in his attempt to not hurt Jane. “Yes.”
She reached out cautiously and held his cheek. Thor couldn’t help nuzzling into her hand. The warmth he felt was so beautiful to him. All it did was break Y/N a little more. Her cuddly giant saying he didn’t want her, that he loved someone else. “Then you go to Jane, but understand this,” she brought her hand away, and though it killed her stepped back. “If you leave me again, I will not have you back. I expected a warrior, who wanted what was his, but if that is not you, leave and don’t come back. I will accept no less than a hero.” Thor reached for her hand but she pulled back even more. “It’s Jane or it’s your soulmate.” She clenched her fist. “Choose Thor, or I will choose for you.” Y/N took a deep breath and turned away from him. With each step her heart ripped further and further out of her chest. If she thought Jesse and Tiffany knew how to break hearts she now thought those were kitten scratches.

Tyler Perry Calls Out ‘Wicked & Evil’ Scammers – ‘Don’t Fall For This!’
Tumblr media
Tyler Perry is FED UP with “wicked” and “evil” scammers attempting to come up off of his kindness. Peep his Coronavirus PSA inside…
As the world battles this Coronavirus outbreak, some people are looking to make a come up by any means necessary, even if it means scamming people out of money they desperately need right now.
Apparently, there are people using Tyler Perry’s likeness to scam folks out of their money. SMH!
The Hollywood filmmaker has been a vital part of Coronavirus relief efforts and scammers are using his philanthropic image to steal money from people.
The philanthropist posted a video on his social media accounts to warn people of fake websites and social media posts that claim to be raising money on his behalf.
“I hate to come on and say this, but I’m pretty annoyed,” he started off in the video. “You know, people out there are so wicked and so evil and to think that they’re setting up all of these fake sites asking you to send them money because I’m giving away thousands of dollars is just downright evil. Downright wrong.”
He said he wished social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter would do a better job at taking action to reduce scams like these from popping up, especially during the pandemic.
“Please, please please — especially those who have supported me for all these years, you know, times are hard. They’re tight right now. People are really, really struggling. Don’t fall for this.”

Also, Kroger customers can now round up their purchase to the nearest dollar and/or make select donations of $1, $5 and $10 at checkout to support Kroger’s Zero Hunger.
